11:06pm: Oops, it's also past 11pm, but yes, after a snafu with our library supplier getting the new payment details from out library there was a delivery of boxes today! :OD Somewhat unfortunately, only two titles out of the six or seven were able to be put out because we still haven't got the receipt files. With any luck they'll be uploaded overnight so I can get the rest through. There might be another delivery tomorrow too, so things will be getting back into the usual swing of things, although I'll be heading off with Mum and her friend to Fiji on Monday, which is exciting!

Speaking of that, Mum came over this evening to drop of my carry-on so I could pack it. I did my best to tidy up a bit, but yeah, it was a bit of a fail, but not as bad as it has been, since I got it mostly tidied pretty quickly, although the wintergarden is still looking a bit of bomb-hit, but we don't talk about that LOL.

Finally before I head off, I got Day 8 of McFly July done, but I'm not entirely sure what to write for Day 9 so I'm still behind, dang. Hopefully something will come to mind!

And now I will Meme and run:

The Friday Five

9/2/24

These questions were written by buggybestie on LJ.

1. At what age did you discover you had a favorite color? Well, my favourite colour is green, I'm not entirely sure it's been that way my whole life, but it must have been pretty early because when I was around 5 we moved into our house in Dubbo and my room was a lovely shade of green. Although I don't know if that was how it was painted when we moved in I assume so, because my brother's rooms were painted white. Anyway to make a long story short, I'm pretty sure I've loved green my whole life :O)

2. What type (genre) of film do you prefer to see in a theater versus one you'd watch at home? Well, I enjoy comedies and animated films and I don't mind if it's at home or the cinema - especially since the latter is so expensive these days! It was pretty cool seeing Inside Out 2 in the cinema though, since we had fancy reclining seats ;O)

3. What's your oldest object or item since childhood? Well, I think I still have the cradle my toy doll went in when I was a kid - although that's at my parents place these days. For something in my possession it would be this folder of things from when I was in kindergarten, like my report cards and some class awards. That stuff would be 35 years old now (eek!)

4. In what book would you insert yourself as a side character or friend to the protagonist? That's a tough one...I mean it'd be kind of cool to be in Sweet Valley as long as I'm not kidnapped or something LOL.

5. What's your favorite shape or type of cloud? Well that's a random question...I guess I like fluffy clouds, so whatever those are - cumulus? I used to know when I did geography, but that was over 20 years ago so I've forgotten.

OK, Moose out!

P.S That time o' the month did indeed come, so with any luck it should be pretty much over by the time I head off to Fiji, wipes brow.

11:07pm: Man, it's been forever since I updated! Almost two months! I've let myself down, I've let my journal down and...maybe let you my loyal readers down, but probably not :OP

Anyway! Since my last update I've settled into my new role as Collections Librarian and it's been going awesomely! Not long into the job my supervisor said I was doing so well that it's pretty likely my contract will get extended! I sure hope so, because the apartment building is set to be completed in December this year and with an actual (nearly) full-time job I can probably afford to live in it.

Of course, there's also the chance that I'll actually interview to get the job permanently, which worries me purely because according the the law they can only judge an applicant based on how they interview (even if said applicant is int he position already) and I'm known for not been the best at interviews. Although I have been told that my interviewing skills are getting better so perhaps there's no need to worry. Fingers crossed!

So yes, the job has been going really well! I've caught up on the backlog and I'm learning new stuff - soon I'll be getting to know about cataloguing, which will be good because at present there's only one person there who can catalogue stuff from scratch so as you can imagine she's super busy! Plus new skills are always a bonus.

Suffice to say, I'm really happy with how life is going, I've got an awesome job, awesome co-workers and awesome peeks into the new books that are coming out. :O)

About the only downside is...it's not quite full-time as I mentioned, however I usually get an extra shift on the weekend which brings me up to 32 hours, which still isn't quite full-time, but seeing as I'm being paid as a librarian now certainly gives me way more money than I had before. Although I need to be careful in that respect, I went on a bit of a spending spree with Pusheen goods (ha ha no-one's surprised at that I bet!) as well as some Yuri on Ice related stuff so I don't have quite as much as hoped.

However! I did - for the first time in I don't know how many years - get a refund from my tax return! Which I meant to pay towards my HECs debt, I say meant because I managed to send it to the wrong account at the Tax Office. Which reminds me that I was meant to call them and find out where it is this week (I did it last Friday), but now it's the weekend again and I can't. Oh fail. I hope it hasn't disappeared...I need that it's like $1,500!

Lastly, I have had trouble making sure I get enough zzzs, I set up my FitBit to tell me when it's time for me to head off to bed, but then like a dumbass I ignore it and next thing I know I'm only getting 7 hours. Which doesn't sound too bad, but after a couple of days of this I end up with a headache and that's just not good.

Fortunately, I should be able to catch up on my zzzs tonight - for the first time in a while I won't be working either day on the weekend because I've only got half an hour left out of the total hours I can work (the maximum is 35, my part-time work is 28 hours, so that leaves me only 7 hours that I can do). I am heading over to M and Grandpa's tomorrow to play Canasta with M, but I don't need to get there until 11am.

Anywho, I'm gonna wrap this up now - perhaps next entry I can tell you about the saga of my 2-in-1 laptop LOL!

Goodnight all!

10:56pm: Well, I didn't get to updating this yesterday, but let me just announce...

Roger Federer is the GOAT! He won his 8th Wimbledon Title on Sunday and is the BOOSSSS of tennis! What a guy! You gotta love him! :OD

And apparently he plans to come back to Wimbledon next year! We'll have to see though. :O)

Moving along, I ended up staying over at the parental abode last night as well, because Mum and I watch Have You Been Paying Attention?, such hilarious times! Although I realised I left my cupcake tray behind, whoops. I'm sure Mum will bring it over tomorrow since she'll be coming over after Scripture Class, which means I need to clean this place up. I've been working on it...slowly, but I'm really going to need to pull my finger out after finishing work with Mrs. S.

What else to report? Nothing much, worked at the library this afternoon, it was kind of boring because they had Duke of Edinburg students volunteering, which means they did the shelving rather than me. Also, I was so close to finishing the book I've been reading, which I borrowed from there and was hoping to return, I've finished it now, but I don't if I should go return it tomorrow since I need to go to the supermarket, however as I said I need to clean my house!

I guess I don't need to return it, but I've had it out for quite a while and I feel rather bad for hogging it. But what can you do?

Right, I better wrap this up because I need to get ready for bed and do my Russian practice.

Wish me luck with my cleaning!

11:41pm: Yeah, I've been doing that a bit lately, but that was because yesterday was rather crappy in so far as I managed to forget that I had a shift at the library!!

What makes it even worse is that I had put the detail in my phone, but I had put the wrong times, so when the alert popped up on my phone I thought I must have made a mistake. I did look in my emails, but there was nothing there saying I had a shift either so I figured I'd made a mistake. At least until I got a phone call at 9:45 asking where the Hell I was!

What makes this worse is the fact that the library has been closed since Friday because of Easter, so the amount of items in the after-hours return chute was totally overwhealming! And I was supposed to be there to help get through it so we could keep on top of it all.

I leapt out of bed, had a banana, showered and rushed to the library, but I was still half an hour late and one of the people who normal work in the back room had had to come up to render assistance.

So I stayed half an hour later to make up for my error, but still how humilating! Plus this is like the third time it's happened! I'm getting worried that I'll no longer be considered a reliably employee and this could mean bad things for my future career (such as it is). Ugh! Seriously me, can't I go fail somewhere else?!

After I finished work at the library I went to Dee Why to return the cruise ship book, I was going to try and finish it but...guide books aren't really meant to be read like regular books so I decided nah, I'd just return it. I took a bit of a walk around Dee Why before going to the library, including the new park which opened a few weeks ago. It was a nice sunny day so I figured, what the Hell. :O)

I did neglect to go to the gym though...which I remedied today after work with Mrs S - which reminds me I need to pick up my game there, I keep being five or more minutes late, which doesn't sound all that bad but honestly I literally live around the corner and surely I can do better!

Anyway, apart from that not much to report- tomorrow though is the ice skating show at Macquarie Centre! Yay! I hope Mum feels all right, she's had a cold and last I spoke to her she was sounding rather croaky, but then it often happens that you sound worse, but feel better. I also have to make sure my phone is all nice and charged so I (or Mum) can take video, I've also realised maybe if I can work up the courage I could get a photo with our figure skating Olympian - Brendan Kerry! LOL, there'd be some people on the figure skating board who'd be most jealous. :OP

But there's other stuff to do tomorrow - I want to go to the gym again - because I won't be able to go on Friday because I have a shift at the library - and there's volunteering at Dee Why before I go to Mum and Dad's place to head for the skating show. That being the case I better wrap this entry up and head for bed! I didn't even get 7 hours of zzzzs last night! Not cool, me.

Right, hope you're all well, but for me, for now, goodnight!

11:28pm: Aussie Style! Yeah! I do forget that it's on but I managed to remember it today and it's pretty hilarious. I do love me some good improv and all the best games are there...Scenes from a Hat, that one where you have to change the last thing you said...I even saw the one with the three dates a few weeks back. I've yet to see News Anchors, though I hope that comes up soon! Although they put it on so late I'm not sure if it's actually getting a lot of viewers, which means it might get cancelled, to which I say boo.

Anyway it just finished so I switched over to 9Life for my house show and the show before was still on and damn this guy on it looks a lot like Biff Tannen, it's rather creepy to be honest.

Moving along, I've had abdominal discomfort all damn day, checking my app I think the middle of my cycle is coming up, not the ovulation pain again! Because that's just a pain in the...ovary :OP I also had a headache this morning, but two paracetamol helped wit that, I don't think I got quite enough sleep though, so better make sure not to do that tonight.

Not much to report, except that I didn't finish the library book that's overdue and on hold, do'h! I actually drove to the library this evening hoping I could finish it and return it, but nope it was going to take too long and was it was getting dark, not to mention the library had already closed by that point. So I'll have to do it tomorrow morning before head over to M and Grandpa's for Canasta and lunch.

But oh I forgot to mention, I found my Marge Simpson glass last night, it was next to the sink the whole time! I have no idea how I missed seeing it! I need to get my eyes checked!

Right, before I wrap this up let's have another Meme:

Sunday Stealing

:The Cannon Fodder Questions:

1. Is there someone you'd like to be kissing right now? Nope.

2. When you're being extremely quiet, what does it mean? I'm either really upset, nervous or just gone to sleep (but I talk in my sleep apparently so that may not last for long! :OP)

3. What are you listening to right now? House Hunters International good times, good times.

4. Are you a big fan of thunderstorms? Not really, thunder scares me.

5. Do you believe in perfect? Like a perfect day? Or a perfect person? Yes to the former, no to the latter (unless we're talking about Jesus or something). But hey not everything has to be perfect.

6. Are you a jealous person? I don't think so? I have no idea to be honest! I've never had a relationship.

7. What was the first thing you thought this morning? "Man, that was a weird dream..." I've kind of forgotten what it was now though, I think I was at Plushy's new skating school though!

8. What do you think about when you are falling asleep? Nothing much...probably just that I have good dreams!

9. Are you satisfied with what you have in life? Eh...pretty much, although I could use more hours at the library. Why is the employment market so unkind.

10. Do people ever think that you're either older or younger than you actually are? Ha, ha, younger, all the time younger! I don't wear make-up so I guess I look pretty young. Although people have stopped asking if I've just finished high school, now I get what uni course are you studying, LOL.

11. Do you think men truly understand women? Eh, dunno, but do women truly understand men? :OP Or anyone truly understand anyone?

12. How about women understanding men? Oops, pre-empted this question, but see above.

13. Did anybody ever call you handsome or beautiful? Nope, I have been told I'm pretty though.

14. What is one fact about the last person that called you? Uh...she's my boss.

15. Other than your current one, tell us about the longest relationship you have had either a romance or a particular good friend. When I was a kid in Dubbo, I had one best friend, we got on super well and I was so happy to have one good friend (I had others, but as a general rule I have trouble making friends) and it sucked when my family and I moved to Sydney. We eventually lost touch, but I still remember the good times.

Okedoke, time to hit the hay, although I've got one last musing about the current ad I'm watching - it's about a doorbell and camera system that works through wi-fi so you can see who's at the door from postmen to burgulars, but...why would a burgular ringt the doorbell?! Or does the camera just send video whenever anyone gets near to your house? Sounds annoying...

Your thoughts on this matter would be appreciated. :OP

For now, goodnight!

11:06pm: Not my epic recounting of the cruise (I'm afraid with the late start to this entry there'll still be a few more days to go with that!), but the fiction book about Russia I've been reading since - I kid you not - mid-November last year! It had 1006 pages in it! Plus as the distractable person that I am, I felt the need to read other books around it, so it all added up there. Anyway, it was a pretty good read!

But without further ado...Dad's Birthday Dinner! )

11:42pm: I thought it might have been some weird interference from the anti-virus program I downloaded last night, but now it's still acting slow as molasses even know. So irritating. So I'm still waiting to upload a picture of my outfit from yesterday!

Ahem, moving right along because time is getting away from me and I can't stay up too late tonight because I want to go to the Mall tomorrow first thing before it gets super busy.

Anywho, I had a busy day today, what with work this morning with Mrs S and then off to the gym afterwards, actually I probably shouldn't have been at the gym so long but I was reading something on my phone in between reps, which meant I took more than a minute break in between them, LOL.

After the gym, and buying some milk I came back to the Granny Flat where I meant to put my clothes away but instead got distracted by the internet and watching Murder She Wrote, do'h! Seriously, if Mum decides to come over I'm stuffed.

Oh wait I just remembered I did do something else today and that was finishing the book I was reading called Eligible which is a modern retelling of Pride and Prejudice - yeah I know there's like a million of those stories out there, but this one was really good, I loved it! :O) Also it's one of the books on the Adult Summer Reading Bingo from the libraries so I can mark it off.

But yes, despite continually falling behind on the Memes there'll be no time for me to catch up tonight. My bed is calling.

Didn't make contact with the big bro today, but I'm pretty sure he was busy, I'll see about it tomorrow - as well as calling my friend, because seriously I'm sure she still doesn't know that our other friend is in town!

Lastly, I think I know what's wrong with Photobucket, it's security certificate has expired...I don't know how long it'll take to fix that...I'll have to figure out what to do with my photo tomorrow.

For now, goodnight!

Work Out

anonymoose_au: (Hey! Bitches)
11:32pm: So after work today I popped over to the Petsmart to ask about it, but I didn't have a very good picture of it on my phone so the sales person wasn't really able to help me much, for example is the whole thing supposed to be submerged in the water? Or is the little motor part with the propeller in it suppose to stick out? She seemed to think it should be full submerged so when I got home I attempted to do that, but the filter is too long and when I sort of nudged it down at an angle poor Plushenko almost got sucked into the propeller! So I lifted it back out again. Fortunately Plushenko was uninjured, I hope...he seems OK. Also of a worry when I put the filter all the way in the water some weird...stuff...came out, like dirt from the gravel, I hope that hasn't done anything bad to the water in the aquarium.

So the upshot of all this...it's still making pretty much the same amount of noise! Damn! And I can't take it out of the tank really because I'm quite sure it's working and I don't want to risk Plushenko's health and I can't seem to figure out exactly what type of filter it is so looking it up on the net hasn't helped. Most irritating.

Anywho, moving right along, I'm sorry to report I didn't go ice skating today, primarily because I have a blister on one of my right toes from the shoes I wore to the interview yesterday. I usually wear the shoes with stockings, but it was a bit hot to do that yesterday, and my right foot is bigger than my left so...blister. :O( And my ice skates are quite tight so I didn't want to end up limping, which I probably would have seeing as I'm a wuss. Also it's been rainy today and I don't really like to drive long distances in the rain.

So instead I came home and sat on my butt :OP but I caught up on my reading so that was cool. Although I haven't caught up on my memes, which is not cool.

Oh, wait I did do some shopping before heading home because I was out of cheese, and I also got myself a pair of watches from K-Mart, they're cheap but I've had watches from there before that are still working so...

Right, I better be off, it's almost midnight. LOL, the guy's name on this House Hunters International is Barkley, seriously? People these days. :OP

11:48pm: So I was going to make some cupcakes tonight just because and even went down to the 7-11 on the corner to get milk, but unfortunately for me there was a problem. My eggs were off! I tested them by putting them in water and the bobbed to the top. Suffice to say, I wasn't going to risk using them! Unfortunately, I'd all ready creamed the caster sugar and butter, so I had to cover the mixing bowl and put it in the fridge. I sure hope it'll be OK for tomorrow...because otherwise, what a huge waste!

In other news, I went ice skating today after work and what fun! It wasn't nearly as busy as last Saturday and I was able to try going backwards a bit more, it seems I need to turn my head the opposite way to my instinct, which is weird, I feel like I should look over my right shoulder, but when I do I end up turning my whole body around! Still, I can't see myself ever being able to master that...Still much fun was had.

What else to report? Oh! I got my official name badge from the Mona Vale Library today! I've never had a name tag before, this is quite cool. One gentleman even made use of it, checking the name so he could use it to thank me for helping, LOL.

I also renewed a few of my library books...including one I hadn't even started yet, which was on hold, whoops so I endeavoured to power read it, and I was making pretty good progress until I realised...I wasn't actually all that interested in finding out what happened. :OP So instead I just read the end, confirmed my suspicious and I shall return it when I'm at work tomorrow. Hope the person who had it on hold enjoys it more than I did!

Also, because of the reading I have no time to do any memes! Booo. But there's not much that can be done about that now...so instead I shall be off!

Hope to have more tomorrow though.

11:44pm: And by that I mean the eighth Harry Potter book, which I got as an e-book from the library and just couldn't put down once I got into Act Two. Now it was admittedly rather odd to read Harry Potter in play format, but all in all a totally awesome read. I should write a review on Goodreads, but instead I'm typing up this entry.

And that's because I'm unexpectantly staying here at the parental units's and thus have access to the internet! Having said that, I spent most of the evening reading my book, which I didn't need the net to do and thus I've kind of wasted my time here...Although I did manage to catch up on Tumblr so that's a plus, and I do have time tomorrow morning to do some more surfing.

So with midnight swiftly approaching I don't have a lot to say, except that getting the internet at the Granny Flat is proving to be an epic tale of despair then hope and then despair once more. First there was the news that Spintel could find no evidence a separate phone line ever going to my Granny Flat, then Telstra saying the had information for a Unit 1 at the same address as the main house, but no information on if it was active or not and then finally the realisation, that it is indeed an inactive line and to get it going again would cost $300.

Sucks, man.

Anyway, I should get to bed so as to wake up at a decent hour tomorrow as I really should use this internet time to do some job hunting. I'm also trying to do my Russian right now, not sure if I'll make it, but might as well give it a shot, I think I'm getting better. :O)

Oh wait no...I won't, time flies when you're concentrating on two things at once. At least I can freeze my streak so I don't have to go back to Day 1.

10:17pm: Not sure what I've been doing that eaten up so much bandwidth, but I've just received an SMS from my mobile provider warning me that I've used 85% of my data and there's still 6 days of July to go! Bugger. Looking at the Data Usage graph on my phone it looks like it's jumped up just over one day (so maybe I had too many tabs open today), but the graph doesn't have each day individually listed so I can't be sure...

Although, perhaps my new internet won't be long in coming as they've finally processed my advanced payment and I all ready know the place is set up for the net because the previous tenant had it. But...who knows, you can never tell with these internet providers. The website says it can take up to 20 days! o.O

That being the case I suppose I should keep the internet surfing to a minimum, but that's hard for me to do :OP

In other news, it was freaking freezing this morning...so freezing I could see my own breath! OMG! As you can imagine I didn't want to get out of bed, and I was almost late for work it took so long to finally get my ass up.

You'd think then that I would have gone and got my heater back from M and Grandpa's garage (at least I hope it's in there...), but alas I didn't have the time, so I've arranged to go on Wednesday instead. Today ended up way busier than I thought actually because I ended up having to go to the library and fill out a form that says I have secondary employment and this was after going all the way to Brookvale to drop off some of Mrs S's old stuff at Vinnies. Then I popped by the mall planning to get a new basket for my basket holder because one seems to be missing. However, they're bloody expensive! And I wasn't even sure it was the right size, I kind of neglected to take measurements, so that was a bit of a waste... Plus I forgot to bring my Target refund coupon and then discovered that I needed to get that library form in today so off I dashed.

As it turned out I did some more rearranging and now all my books are securely tucked away, Hell yeah, go me! Whoo!

Right, I have to get to bed now because I haven't got nearly enough sleep, I was yawning all day!

9:23pm: I don't actually see how the latter is possible, because this afternoon when I finished work I went to the old Granny Flat to clean and there was absolutely nothing left in there of mine.

So...where's my personalised Nutella label?! I'm super concerned that I threw it out :O( That would be...well not a tragedy, or devastating, but it sure would suck. Like I said they don't have the promotion going on anymore, the closest I could get would be to print one off on my printer, but it wouldn't be waterproof or anything.

Also, some of my smiley hooks are missing...it's a bit odd. Perhaps they're in the car somewhere? But I'm not sure how I could have missed them, I thought I checked really carefully, but maybe not?

Anyway, moving on, it's past 10pm and I've written three paragraphs on this entry, but I uploaded some more photos! First up the entry area, or as I like to call it, the Foy-yay. I don't know where the chest of drawers came from, I could have sworn it wasn't there when Mum and I inspected the place, but they're fabulous! And the bookcase is slim as anything but look at all the books I managed to fit on it! Although admittedly the bottom two shelves are doubled, but I can deal.

Speaking of books, with a fair amount of rearranging and doubling up of books in the middle section of the buffet cabinet I fit almost all my books in! Can we have a Hell yeah! ;OD

I still need to get another crate because the one that the rest of the books are in won't fit in the crate holder - I don't know how that happened. Although I'm not sure when because the places where the crates are available are a bit out of my way.

But I guess I don't need a short shelf or cabinet to put under the bench of the kitchen since I've managed to sort this book issue out, which is a good thing because I'll probably need to store my paper recycling bin and garbage bin under there, as well as my cupcake maker. Although I dunno...I feel like a cabinet would look better but who knows.

The next picture is of my pantry, which Mum and her friend so kindly put together for me (with the help of the guy who put the bench in I would think) and though narrow I managed to get pretty much everything in there. Go me!

And lastly, here's the controls for the stove/oven. Now is it just me or does it look like each knob turns on two of the three stove tops at a time? Since when has an uncoloured circle equalled on?

It's a weird little unit though, what with the three stove tops and also the fact that it's called an Estelle Email though I'm quite sure predates email as we know it. :OP

What else to report? Well, it was windy as all Hell today and when I got home I discovered that all the paper I'd put in the recycling bin and left outside due to lack of room with the drying rack up had strewn themselves all over the yard! I managed to gather them all up and put the paper bin inside.

I also got a bin for the kitchen, a cute one in green! It's like a smaller version a wheelie bin, I think it looks pretty sharp, although I'm sure my mother will diss it. :OP

There was something else I was gonna write, but now I've forgotten what it was! Oh, well the heater my father bought over does have a problem...in that two of the four heating elements don't actually work, so it's on at the moment but not really heating as well as it could. Hmmm, I need to find time to go to M and Grandpa's to search for my heater...and play Canasta with M too! I'll have to see what a good day will be.

And let's catch up on the Memes a Bit! )

Man, once again this entry has totally got away from me...better wrap this up and head to bed, still gotta catch up on zzzs. Tomorrow is going to be busy again, I have to go back to the old granny flat for the outgoing inspection because it was still wet this afternoon since the last thing I did was mop the floor. Hopefully, I've done a good job and will get my entire deposit back! I owe my other some money!

For now, goodnight!

10:49pm: Nah, I kid, with any luck I'll be in this particular Granny Flat for a while, because moving is a pain in the ass.

But! As promised I've taken some pictures, which you can see here because I'm too lazy to actually link them here one by one. I need to take some others though like the outside of the Granny Flat and my new recliner and the other bookcase which is beside the front door and holds a surprising amount of books!

No seriously! I had three large tubs full of books when I left the old Granny Flat today - all of which were so heavy I was worried that I might throw my back out or something. And thanks to that bookcase and a few other places I managed to find in the house - like the buffet cabinet, the second wardrobe, a spare crate that fits in the crate holder and under the bed I've wittled it down to about fifteen or so that I just need to find a place for. I think I need another crate, for some reason there's one spot left in it, I actually have two crates under the bed but neither fit in the holder! Pft.

However, the house isn't exactly neat as I'm still unpacking things, I'm a bit bummed because I can't find my customised Nutella label (it has Moose printed on it) anywhere, I remember packing it, but I have no idea where I packed it, do'h! Hope I didn't throw it out, I'm pretty sure they don't let you get a personal label made up anymore. :O(

Anyway! I gotta lay my head down to sleep soon, my sleep debt has caught up with me and I have a bit of a headache so I want to try and catch up on it, at least some of it!

I used the stove for the first time today - I was somewhat confused by which of the knobs to turn to get the hotplate hot, the diagram was a bit weird - it worked out in the end though and I had some very yummy sausages. I also did my first two loads of laundry tonight and discovered that I can use fabric softener in the top loader - the little compartment for it just happened to be hiding. :OP And I also used the rather shitty looking washing line out back...which is really rather shitty. I'm tempted by this retractable washing line that's goes on sale at Aldi next week, but I dunno...I'm not sure where I would attach the end of it... I guess I'll see what my parents think.

Right, better wrap this up! Hopefully I'll be more coherent tomorrow. Somewhat embarrassingly after exchanging them for another set I need to return those flannel sheets I got a few weeks back. I find this embarrassing because the first set I got required a lot of searching on behalf of the cashier - she had to go down to the storeroom and everything! So...it was kind of all for nothing in the end.

Oh well, maybe the'll have a nice bin there or something I can buy...I don't have a kitchen bin right now and I really need one.

Right, on that note, I'm off!

Goodnight all!

11:17pm: Which sound bizarre, but it's true! On the one hand I want to know what's going to happen next, but on the other the author is taking so bloody long to have anything actually occur that's it's getting quite tedious. Grumble, grumble.

Moving onto the Purple Shirt Project, well it turned out only one button was crooked, so I only needed to fix that one, yay! However, I still haven't done the button holes, there's a way to do it by hand of course, but I'm still not sure if that's a good idea. I also had to redo the hem, so it's no longer rolled, because otherwise the dang thing is just too short, as I discovered when I put it on and lifted my arms. Hopefully it'll be OK now...although I'm worried the fabric might fray and unravel. Fingers crossed. I also need to finish with the sleeves, I'm still hoping to be able to wear it on Saturday.

In other news, it was Library Volunteer Day today and while I was there the Home Library Service Co-ordinator came over to tell me that the home library patrons have been very positive about the book choices over the past few weeks. Whoo! This is very good news, obviously I didn't choose them all, but I would have done some and since I sometimes wonder if I'm any good at picking out good items this puts my mind at ease. I didn't get a chance to ask about the Librarian job, mostly because the person who looks after the staff doesn't seem to be there when I am. Maybe she's at one of the other libraries, or has a day off, or perhaps I just didn't notice her. :OP

And now, I'm gonna wrap this up, despite the shortness of the entry because I'm super sleepy, I think I got some dust in my face at Mrs S's, because my eyeballs are feeling seriously heavy and dry. Or maybe I'm just sleepy and it is pass my bed time after all!

Off I go now, goodnight all!

11:21pm: Of my sewing machine. I was trying to fix up my green and white polkadot dress using a tutorial [personal profile] isleofapples was kind enough to link me too. But I sort of misunderstood and decided to try and get and get a baste stitch by hand. Which has kinda worked but I've just realised this very second what they meant by releasing the stitch tension...and that of course there'll still be a bottom stitch and a top stitch, duuuh.

Unfortunately, it's too late for me to do anything with it now, as I have to go to bed, tomorrow is work and even though I got over 10 hours sleep last night (apparently scientists are now saying you can catch up on it, make up your mind science, gee!) that's hardly an excuse to get back into debt.

It was a busy today, I fit in going to Aldi, going to the gym, dropping off Mrs S and my unwanted stuff to Vinnies, checking out Goodwill for umbrellas (no luck there), returning my library books and feeding Mum and Dad's fish.

Oh, and get out my money for rent and do my laundry. Talk about productive! I feel good. :O)

Now, usually I'd plan to do some memes, but alas I left this update a bit too late for that. I really need to plan my updating better. However! I did do my Russian, so I'm pleased about that.

Oh I also bought a hammer from the local IGA, but my wrist must not be strong enough because even though it's a rather large hammer I still can't get the U-shaped nail to go all the way in so every so often the spring springs out. I'll either have to get the landlord to come and help, or wait for Dad to get back and come for a visit. Guess it depends how clean I can get the place...

For now though I best be off!

Goodnight all.

11:08pm: Well, the weather has decided to make up for lost time in regards to the rain and it's being bucketing down for most of the day. Added to that the temperature has gone low enough that I've put on my new penguin flannel pjs, not to mention put my doona back inside my doona cover. Hopefully, I won't wake wake up too hot some time during the night.

Moving on, I'm sure you all want to know how the Canasta went...well, I was going quite well, in fact I was in the lead! However, M managed to stage an amazing come from behind victory! I'm not gonna lie I was a bit disappointed in myself, but hey, what are you gonna do? :OP

Then it was off to work, which was interesting as aside from me everyone else was a casual employee! I wonder where the other part-timers were? I guess that will always remain a mystery LOL.

I had been planning to go to my parents' church after work, but with rain I decided I was better off going to the church in Mona Vale, especially since Mum had gone to church up in Newcastle - where she was visiting a friend. Once again though the mass went way longer than I'm used to. Although admittedly Palm/Passion Sunday is usually a long one, but it was starting to get dark when I came home and daylight savings hasn't ended yet! I'm so not looking forward to when it does, which I've all ready mentioned, but I think it bears repeating.

In other news, I finished the book I was reading this week, which ostensibly was about the world of figure skating - the cataloguing suggestions on the copyright page even says so! However, I should have paid more attention the blurb, which was much clearer about what the story would become i.e. one of those sad tragic stories about death. Oh...yay. I don't like reading sad stuff...

Anyway, enough about that, I should really try and catch up on meme or two...

11:41pm: That I drop my car off at the panel beater - hopefully - where it will hopefully be returned to me all nice and gleaming once more.

It's also the day I'll be assisting Mum in the classroom when she does Special Religious Studies for a large class of Year Twos. Hopefully that'll work out OK.

Of course, tomorrow is also Mum Visiting Day, which means I need to find time to clean up my room, because I've still got some stuff on the floor. I also need to mop my floor before I head out to the class, Mum said I could do that later, but I find it's easier if you can mop and then leave.

Anyway, once again I don't have enough time to do memes or what not, because I was busy finishing up one of the books I borrowed from the library, the one from Library Book Lover's Day. After a slow start the action really picked up and I just had to finish it! Which I did, so go me. :O)

Although I did find out some unfortunate news...it looks like poor Plushy is going in for another operation at the end of this month. Damn, I get distracted from reading up on his goings-on and this is what happens? :OP

Also, today I was stung by a wasp which had somehow got into Mrs S's house. I didn't realise it was a wasp at first, I haven't seen one in ages and it didn't look like I though it would. So I tried to smash it with a paper towel and I picked it up thinking it was dead but then - OW! The bugger stung me and came right back to life!

And it proved almost impossible to kill! O.o Mrs S doesn't actually have any insect spray because it causes breathing problems for her. There was outdoor bug spray, but it didn't seem to do shit so I took off my show and started whacking it, but even after knocking its head off it kept on moving for ten minutes! Totally nuts. The weirdest thing of all...was that Mrs S and I were just speaking about wasps before. Spooky.

Right and I better be off! I had the old wake up turn off the alarm close your eyes for a second and it's twenty minutes later thing happen this morning so I need my zzzzs!

So goodnight all!

11:07pm: Or that other thing...a ratchet? Whichever one gets tightly screwed on things off, because I thought I'd need an adapter in order to connect my dishwasher to the tap, but when I went to Bunnings after work today the man I showed the photo to said that the tap has an aerator on it that can be taken off. But alas it seems to be pretty firmly screwed in there because I certainly can't get it off. So...now I have to go back to Bunnings it would seem. Good thing I'm working tomorrow at the library I guess. :OP

Moving on, I've moved more things over to the new flat and I'm slightly concerned the place is starting to look messy! This won't do at all! My mother is planning to come over every Wednesday to make sure everything is in order.

However! The shell is now up around the crates - the man came at 7am this morning as Mum said he would - he also put up the hooks and hung the mirror in the wardrobe. Good man. :O) So it all looks really good in there, I just have to make sure the rest of the place looks right. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with this big box of kitchen stuff, it's got way more stuff in it then I could ever use.

Speaking of kitchenware, there's been some very unfortunate breakages while I was moving stuff from the old flat to my car - first my cupcake holder! Fuck! Although, they seem to have become quite popular in recent years so I suppose I won't have that much trouble replacing it. But I've only seen gray ones...I want a colourful one!

The same can't be said for the water tank on my water cooler, which fell out of the car when I opened the door. :O( I tried to look up replacements on the net, but no luck, I could only find filter replacements, that's no use to me. Sigh... Although, that cooler was a bit of an ass, it worked on gravity so was slow as anything when it came to actually getting water out of it!

Hmm, there was something else I had to say, but I've forgotten what it was! Oh well, it'll probably come back to me. Or maybe it was another apology for not getting around to the memes again tonight. :OP Sorry about that.

On that note I'm off to bed!

Oh wait! I remember what it was! Today was Library Lovers Day! And as part of it the library had "A Blind Date With A Book", so I decided to take part, picking a book described as having 'magic, parallel universes, multiple Londons and adventure'. I hope it's good, I took a look at the blurb and it mentions George III!! What are the chances! :OP Although he probably doesn't show up in any major way.

10:36pm: There has been much pain in it today...I guess I've eaten too much chocolate? Or maybe it's the fact that my plan for getting 8 hours sleep after staying up super late last night watching the figure skating was thwarted when Mum called to ask me to drop by my Uncle Sam and Aunt Jo's to get the ham Grandpa accidentally gave them instead of to my mother.

She did this at 8am! Less than 6 hours after I went to bed. I'm no good when I don't get enough sleep, so perhaps this is part of it? Either way it sucks wholly. I ended up leaving my car near my brother's house which is half way to the church and then catching a bus the rest of the way.

And I can't find my Buscopan anywhere, but there were no pharmacy's open today so I couldn't buy any! You can get laxativs at the supermarket and Immodium, but nothing for stomach pain specifically? WTF is that crap? I took a paracetamol, but it hasn't really worked...I probably should have taken two. Oh and I tried using my mini-hot water bottle but yeah, that only provided temporary relief.

Well, you don't really want to hear about all that I'm sure, writing about it certainly hasn't helped.

Anyway, regarding the skating, sadly the "Old Men" didn't get near the podium, shame, but I suppose Russia's been holding out for some young guns to pick up the mantle.

I'm most disappointed to discover that the ladies frees skate doesn't start until 2am Aussie time! I can't stay up for that! I'll just have to cross my fingers that my favourite lady manages to make a big come back to at least get near the podium.

And lastly, apparently some Plushy fans put up banners for him in this competition, even though he's not there, LOL, I haven't spotted them though. This is apparently something they do over there. Have banners for skaters who haven't been there for ages, or at least the ones with die-hard fans.

Anyway, I've forgotten where I got up to with the Memes...whoops. But I've neglecting the Thursday meme a bit so here they are.

Audible

I’m guessing most of you like reading (or why would you be here), how do you feel about audio books?

Well, as a general rule I don't get them because I prefer to read, otherwise if I don't have my hands occupied I end up doing something else and missing out on a whole lot of stuff, LOL!

However, I do like audiobooks when they're read by the author or performed by more than one voice more like a radio play. I'll never forget getting the Audiobook for the Back to the Future novelisation, whoever read that had the worst voice ever!

Gift

What books are/were you hoping to get as gifts this holiday season?
Which books DID you get?
Are you happy, or did you rush right out to your local bookstore to pick up the book you’d hoped you’d be getting?

Well, I have too many books all ready so I don't really ask for any these days because I've got nowhere to put them! Plus new books in Australia are so expensive, I prefer to get stuff secondhand. However! I did get a lovely handmade (by someone else) notebook from M and Grandpa which was much appreciated!

Well, as I said I didn't get much sleep last night so I shall wrap this up here. I'm hoping my abdomen will be back to normal tomorrow!

For now, goodnight!

11:02pm: Yeah that's me! I came home right after work at Mrs S today with the intent to do some cleaning because Mum was supposed to be coming over. However, she didn't which was good because I didn't do that much cleaning anyway.

But is this change of plans reflected in my NaNo word count, unfortunately it's not. In fact I haven't even reached 1,000 words today! OMG, come on me!

Although, it's not like I wasn't doing anything! I finally finished reading that biography of Nijinsky I borrowed from Pittwater Library an age ago. I was inspired by Plushy to do so, it proved to be a really interesting read, truth is stranger than fiction indeed! You'd never think someone would go through all that, but there you go. It was also sad though, all that talent and mental illness brought him down so young. I wonder what he could have done if he'd been able to keep dancing and choreography-ing.

Oh and also finished watching the fifth season of Bergerac so that's a plus too.

But my NaNo is not going to write itself! Which means I better wrap this entry up and get back to typing, I hope I can at least get to a thousand words before I need to turn in for the night, but I'm not entirely confident...

Here's my decidedly sad word count as of now:

11442 / 50000 words. 23% done!

Only a 1% advance, eek!

Oh before I go, one annoying thing, that little black dress I got from Aldi yesterday, I have to take it back because although the package it came in said size 12, the dress itself is actually a 14 and way too big as a result. Damn! I'm not sure there were even any 12s left. Hmpf, annoying. I wonder if I can return to the Mona Vale Aldi - they might have a size 12 there or if I have to return it to same place I got it from. I guess we'll see tomorrow.

Off I go now, goodnight all!
