11:11pm: Wait almost 2 hours? Because that's what I did, LOL. Although I had my book with me so it wasn't like I was totally bored and fortunately, the weather isn't so cold now because that would have suuucked.

I obviously wasn't planning to get free pizza having being to the gym, but I was out of toilet paper so had to go and buy some on my way home, and walking to the supermarket I happened to pass by the newly opened pizza shop, where they were offering the free pizzas. I wasn't actually going to go there, because the line was already quite long and a there was a crowd hanging around - I later realised that these were people who were waiting for their order. But y'know, free food is hard to walk past, so after running into an old work colleague, chatting for a bit and getting a free cannoli I got in the line. As it turned out I was among the last - the free pizza stopped at 7pm and it was about 6:45 when I got to the front counter. My order number was 396! And they were only at 160 or something... So yeah long wait - when they said it would be about an hour I almost decided not to stick around. Still for all that I'm glad I did because it was a very yummy pizza indeed, even if there was no Hawaiian option :OP

Of course, it did mean I got home quite late, which means I'm updating this pretty late too! Before I rush off though, I have to say I'm a bit concerned about my side muscles which have been oddly sore since yesterday, I hope the physio didnt do something weird to them, but I don't think she'd actually touched that area so I must have sat oddly or slept weirdly. I hope I don't have to go back, it does cost like $90 a go.

Right, I totally got distracted by Duolingo and now it's nearly a quarter to midnight, which is no good because I haven't been getting enough zzzs lately and that just won't do.

That being the case, I better dash, see you later!

11:02pm: And dang it, if I'm not improving the last bit there because it's 11pm and I'm just updating this!

Anyway, the good news is the first part of the subject title here is true too! My apartment was clean enough to pass muster with the parental units! Although, maybe they were just being polite, LOL. But hey I also went and bought the pizza and provided mini-Magnum ice creams for dessert. :O)

So yes, a good time was had by all, and the little bro came through getting Mum a present and a card - which totally slipped my mind, so that was well done by him, since Mum only mentioned recently that she enjoys getting a card at least.

OK, so this entry is looking pretty short, but an interesting thing happened today in the Inter Library Loans, a library requested a book that was out on loan to someone and I was about to mark the request as non-supply when I realised...the person who had the book on loan was me! XD So I said I'd supply it and figured I'd just borrow it when it comes back, buuut, it's a short book or at least shorter than the other books I have have on my to read pile, so I'm reading it in the hope I can finish it.

However, I do have to do my Duolingo, and as mentioned it's after 11pm so I should have my butt in bed and I'm not quite halfway through it, ah well, I could maybe just wait for Monday, it's not like the requesting library would know :OP

Anyway, on that note I better head off, although they're at the pointy end of the Mixed Recurve Open at the Paralympics, but I don't think the gold medal match will happen before midnight, I guess I'll have to catch up on that tomorrow. We did have an Aussie team in the competition actually, but we got knocked out in 1/8 round, rather disappointingly since we were in a good position!

I've also just realised that the this week's Junior GP in Figure Skating is probably on, ah well, you can't watch everything.

So on that note, I'm off!

Goodnight all!

10:20pm: Well, the Juniors are at least, I didn't realise until I went onto YouTube today and it was on my "For You" watch list. I'd totally forgotten about it! Always a fun watch, although I was hoping to find the para-archery, but I guess they don't show the seeding rounds? Because those are on today, but they weren't streaming, boo-urns.

Anywho, I'm not sure if I should stay up for the last group of ladies because I'm pretty sure I haven't been getting enough sleep this week, which probably explains my sore eyeballs since it wasn't windy today.

As for work, lots of Inter Library Loans were sent out today since the courier drops them off quite late on Wednesdays now. But yeah, I got them all out except for one, sometimes when I put the reserve on, it comes out with a different branch than the one on the actual request, which is weird and rather annoying. I have to ring that patron and ask them which branch they actually want to pick the book up from, but sometimes they don't answer their phone or call me back.Ah well, tomorrow is another day.

Going off the topic, my water sort game I play on my mobile phone has changed and now it sucks, I have no idea why they did that, I might have to uninstall it it's that bad. Bah, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Also there's so many ads on it now with that damn pain in the ass AI voice. Throws up hands.

On that note, I'm gonna head off, because the past few days I've been saying I'll go to bed once I wrap up my journal entry and then neglect to do it! Not this time though.

So goodnight!

11:06pm: I keep thinking that it's Friday - although earlier today I thought it was Wednesday (because a colleague of mine who usually has Tuesdays off, also took Wednesday off), but it's not! It's Thursday and I've got work tomorrow so I need to make this quick! Although, as it happens, even if it was Friday, it's my Saturday shift this week so I'd still need to go to bed early, LOL.

Anywho, moving right along...hmmm...I though I had something of interest to say, but I don't...I do have some plot ideas in mind for the McFly July prompts, but as they say the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. On the plus side though, my right thumb isn't sore anymore, so thank God for that!

Oh wait, I do remember...I restarted for like the sixth time Hill Valley in Cities Skylines, I had a good thing going with my current save, when it occurred to me that I totally messed up the highways, so I fixed that and while I was at it I added a waterfall to the map. Would Hill Valley actually have a waterfall somewhere? I always thought so, so there it goes.

I'm watching the ABC news, and I'm reminded of something else, some crazy dude popped open the emergency exit on a plane that just landed, jumped onto the wing and slid down the engine before trying to make a break for it, only to be detained by some ground crew. Yikes...talk about weird? Originally I heard it was before take-off so I figured maybe the guy had a massive panic attack or something, but if they've landed... And if he sneaked onto the plane at the departure airport that still doesn't make sense, because having taken some domestic flights recently they're a bit lax with checking your ID. At any rate the guy is in big trouble now!

Also sad news in the penguin world - one pair of the famous gay penguin couple Sphen died, leaving his partner penguin, Magic and their adopted chicks on their own (although I think both chicks are pretty much grown). Apparently, that type of penguin mates for life, so Magic's pretty bummed.

On that note, though I better go, I think I've been lacking in the sleep department so I should try and catch up on that, or at least go to bed before midnight!

Goodnight all!

8:42pm: Well, I didn't get as much sleep as I hoped to last night, somehow time got away from me and it was 12:45am before I turned in, then some asshat rang my apartment buzzer at like...8am or something? I didn't answer it, obviously, but it woke me up. Grumble. This is hopefully why my left eyelid feels like it's twitching, I wouldn't want it to be something serious :Oo

Anyway, I thought I had more to say with this entry, but my mind is kinda blanking...I went out this morning with the aim of finding a darning mushroom (I'd never heard of one, but it's what you need to darn stuff, like the jumper I'm hoping to fix), there's this sewing shop a few blocks down. Alas, they didn't have one, although admittedly I didn't ask the shopkeeper. I'm terrible at not doing that, LOL.

Looking at my jumper though I fear I won't be able to fix it, it's not just a hole in it, the material itself seems to be thinning out :O( So I wondered about maybe tracking down a plain grey jumper and stitching little coloured squares on it like the current jumper, but no luck there either. I even briefly considered learning to knit so I could make a jumper myself, but that sounds a little overzealous LOL. It is a bummer though, because I did actually find a jumper like it on eBay, except it was a size medium, which won't fit me. Hope whoever did buy it will enjoy it, it's a cute jumper!

Anywho, I should wrap this up, tomorrow I'm heading down to Wollongong with my parents, we're meeting with some relatives along the way and then Monday morning I catch the train back, so I should make sure I've got everything packed and ready to go.

Before I go though...

The Friday Five

17/5/24

These questions were written by Dreamwidth user Spacefem.

1) Is summer a break for you, or is it busier? Well, it's not summer here in Australia, but yeah it is a bit, since it's Christmas time and my birthday, my big bro and his family usually come for a visit too so I take like two weeks off work. Good times.

2) What's next for your travel plans? Well, excepting tomorrow, in a few weeks I'm going to Fiji with my mother and her friend. Only for five days, very exciting!

3) What have you spontaneously done lately? I'm a pretty boring soul, so nothing really comes to mind right now. Hmmm, well I did spontaneously buy Cities Skylines last month, which proved to be a good idea.

4) What's your favorite way to unwind after a long day? Sit on my butt on my ouch and watch TV and/or YouTube.

5) What's in your pockets? I'm in my PJs so no pockets.

9:36pm: Indeed so, despite knowing that I needed to get up early this morning because a handyman was coming over to put up the second hand shelving system Mum and I bought off Gumtree I stayed up too late last night and as a result, got less than 7 hours sleep last night.

I, however, am a person who needs closer to 8 hours to function well, so all day today I've felt very off indeed, in the middle of the day I got a headache and stomachache - right when Mum came to pick me up so we could go shopping for some new stuff for the apartment - and the rest of the time I was having trouble remembering words! Pretty much everything was just a "thingo" or "that over there", man I hope I never get Alzhemeiers, because losing one's words sucks.

Anyway, I survived the shopping trip and picked up a new coverlet and European pillow cases for my bed (so I'll be cycling from Pusheen to "I'm a grown up" now LOL. Apart from the coverlet and pillow cases, which are in a lovely mint green, I also got two new pillows, which...I'm not actually going to use, because they're mostly for show, which seems weird so maybe I will get round to using them eventually.

Anyway, here's the bed in it's "I'm an adult" mode - although I must say Mum picked a bad angle because my butt sure looks big there :OP

But the really exciting thing is not the bed, but shelving unit! It was really awesome when I came across it on Gumtree for only $350, it's an Elfa and buying it new would cost upwards of $1000! Mum and I went out on Thursday after work to pick it up from the other side of the Bridge, which took a while because the owner's daughter got held up. Although, I did get a nice Chinese dinner with Mum, so that was cool.

Then yesterday, our new handyman came over to put them up, but unfortunately, he doesn't have much experience putting up things on walls and he couldn't find metal studs in the wall of the Wintergarden. Not with the stud finder, not even with drilling small exploratory holes in the wall. Which was a huge blow, because Mum and I can hardly put up the shelves ourselves! He suggested I use Airtasker - which I have heard of - to find someone (since the Elfa guy who used to work for Howard's Storage World at the Mall no longer works there) who had more experience putting up these shelving units. Which proved to be a very good idea, although the guy I got couldn't come until today.

Our other handyman did put up my vacuum cleaner - it's one of those cordfree ones you put in a charger when not using, which was good. Later on the electrician came and put up the heater towel rail up in the bathroom, it's looking pretty fab I must say. Plus now I have a warm towel, although I don't really need it in the summertime.

So yes, the AirTasker man came today just after 8:30am, with Mum arriving at the same time and at first he couldn't figure out where the wall studs were either! At that point I was very bummed out and put my head in my hands which concerned the handyman, poor guy! Mum told me to remain calm, and she was sure there would be a way to put it up.

And indeed there was! Seems the gyprock wall is exceptionally thick, but there were studs in there and soon enough the shelving unit was up, the man was paid and I was able to take most of the books out of my storage wardrobes and put them up.

Oh! And I also got a new desk to put out in the Wintergarden (Mum picked it up at Fantastic Furniture) and we put it together - which was pretty neat and now...

My Wintergarden looks like this! Pretty fabulous huh? Although it is subject to change once the proper air con gets put it, plus the blinds in three of the four banks of windows.

But now I can have guests around :O) like my Uncle, Aunt and cousin, as well as Mrs S.

The first one (that isn't Mum) will be Dad, who'll come over after church tomorrow.

And a last photo - my old bed, where Mum has banished my soft toys :OP for now at least - she slept on it on Thursday night and said it wasn't so bad. So if anyone ever stays over here's where you'll sleep.

Anyway, on that note I shall be off since I need to catch up on my zzzs! Hopefully I'll update soon because I didn't mention the interview I had on Thursday for the Collections Assistant role, although it's not that thrilling :OP

For now though, goodnight!

10:15pm: Because I got a little less than that last night and I am feeling very sleepy right now indeed. Yaaawn! This reminds me that I should probably start going to bed earlier in preparation for when Mrs S comes back, although I still don't know what days I'll have when she gets back.

One job I won't have however is the Home Library Service Officer role, I heard back from the Manager when I came in to volunteer on Friday. However! She thought I made a good case for myself and all, and suggested that I could do some casual shifts for the Home Library Service while they're a bit understaffed. Who knows...maybe the person who did get the job will decide it's not for them or find something else and I might be considered again. :OP I still haven't heard back about the Library Assistant job that they went external with, though...and there's all ready a new round of Library Assistant jobs to apply for! Phew!

Not to mention actual librarian jobs...which closed on Friday, I applied to those as well, although with my lack of experience I'm not sure what luck I'll have with that (lack of experience seems to be my achilles heel right now, except wouldn't you know it? Back when I didn't have a Masters it was a lack of qualifications! Side-eyes all this.)

So yes, lots of jobs to apply to! I sure hope I get something though...as the jobs get filled they'll be less casual shifts available for me. In fact, it's all ready kinda of happening, for the last two weeks I've only had one extra shift per week, when previously I've had three. I had to take money out of my savings this week to cover rent! I'm wondering if that might have to do with the move to a fortnightly pay system at the library, but honestly, I'm sure it's because even with the extra shifts I'm not making up those 15 hours I do for Mrs S.

Ah man, adult life is hard. :OP

In other news, the parental units are on the cruising portion of their travels, I was following their progress on Cruise Tracker (they have had wifi here and there and sent us photos :O) but it's stopped tracking, which I'm wondering might be because some years back there was the whole pirate thing (the ship my parents are on actually got fired at by Somali pirates!) so perhaps they're not updating so the pirates can't track them. Having said that though...I'm sure they use their own radars or whatever...or just sail around looking for ships. Or maybe they're not even in action anymore, I haven't heard about pirates out there in ages.

But yeah whatever the case, they're in the middle of the Indian Ocean right now, so no wifi and thus they're incommunicado. I bet they're living it up though!

Anyway, with the parentals away I have been seeing more of M and Grandpa, which is nice, in fact this week I'll be spending two nights over there because it's ANZAC Day on Wednesday and Grandpa goes in the march so he'll be out and M can't be left by herself for too long in case she falls over something (knock on wood!) Although, she's been much more steady on her feet since the operation on her toe - which was pretty much an amputation. But, the important thing is, we can play Canasta when I come over! :O)

The only thing I'm still wondering about is whether or not to go to the Annual Ice Skating Show at the Macquarie Ice Rink on Thursday. On the one hand, ice shows are fun and it'd be good to support the skaters, on the other as mentioned I'm running low on dough and I don't have anyone to go with so perhaps I should skip in this year? I dunno... Plus would I drive there or catch the bus? If I do go, should I see if I can stay over at my friend's place like I did a couple of years back? I have work the next day in the afternoon so I guess it can work. Thing is I didn't go skating this afternoon (I got some new shoes and my feet were sore) so I don't actually have a ticket, so I'd have to go over early on Thursday to get one before the line gets too big. Decisions decisions!

Also...I've realised I need to rearrange the day I'm going in for volunteering, because of the working on Friday thing (I forgot about that shift...) Plus I've got my car booked in for a service on Monday morning, phew! So busy busy week coming up!

On that note, I should wrap this up and get ready for bed. Last week I totally overslept and didn't get to church which was a shame, so I want to be up tomorrow.

Hope you're all well in internetland!

10:35pm: Because I've stayed up until 2am the past couple of nights to watch it and have only got 6 and a bit hours of sleep, which is has caught up with me and I can hardly keep my eyes open right now. Yawwn!

But yeah, what a big season it's been! There's been the Olympics, upsets and a whole lotta skaters, including a junior lady jumping quads. Apparently there's going to be changes in the scoring system before next season starts so who knows what kind of sheninigans will happen?

And of course, off the competitive scene, Plushy's school has been open for almost a year and lots has been happening there, although alas one of his senior students decided to leave so she could be with her family, which is sad. However, Plushy was just in the Maldives opening a plastic ice rink, which is seriously awesome, if I ever get rich I'm heading over there!

Oh and last, but certainly not least, my favourite pairs team had redemption at Worlds and became the silver medallists after getting the bronze last season. Yaaay!

On the homefront, I can't remember if I've mentioned, but I discovered the other week that Mum and Dad are in fact leaving on their long trip next week! I thought they weren't leaving until May! So now Mrs S and my parental units will be gone at the same time. Bummer! What will I do if I need a sympathetic ear? I guess I could try my grandparents, but y'know, they're of the older generation.

In other news, some Australian cricketers decided to be dumbshits and cheat - or at least attempt to cheat and now our news can hardly tak about anything else. Like, isn't there a war going on somewhere that needs attention?

Yawn, my face hurts from the tiredness so I'm going to wrap this up and hit the hay!

Perhaps I'll start updating this thing more, but well all know my track record on this isn't too good. ;OP Don't hold your breath!

11:19pm: Although I do at least have my two current jobs of course, so no need to panic on that count, but neither of the library jobs panned out. I'm so disappointed! Particularly about the Inter-Library Loans Officer! I really enjoy that sort of work, but according to the feedback the interview panel just figured I didn't have enough experience to take on such a big task.

As for the Collections Officer, I sort of fucked up that interview so I guess that's not a big surprise.

However, Mrs S has recently interviewed a new person to be a back-up, although it's possible said person may be interested in more hours. I hope I don't end up losing work!

I swear...when you come off poorly in interviews like I do, trying to find a job when you've managed to get one, even if it isn't entirely what you're looking for is is super difficult. I just don't have the confidence to risk my current position even if it's my dream job. :O(

Of course the thing to do, is not mention the interviews to Mrs S at all, but the thing is, if I do that and then get a job, even if I can give plenty of notice, she'll probably still feel kind of betrayed. But, eh, you gotta do what you gotta do I suppose?

Anywho, apart from that, things have been going pretty well, although I "only" got 7.5 hours of sleep last night and thus am most tired! Either that or I woke up at the wrong part of my sleep cycle...either way, zzzs are needed, I tells ya! Plus I get up at like 8:15am tomorrow to go to church with Dad, so I better wrap this thing up.

Oh! And I managed to survive the library today - the air-con remains on the fritz- but it was pretty uncomfortable at times. D: It's going to be much cooler tomorrow, hopefully I won't be chilly in my dress when I'm outside, but I guess that's a risk I'll have to take. :OP

And now, I'm out, goodnight all!

PS. I also went and saw M today after work and we played Cansta, we were in the middle of one game, which she kicked my butt in, and started another where she is kicking my ass. Man, next time I head over there I gotta step up my game!
anonymoose_au: (Default)
10:37pm: Yes, indeed the big day has arrived and I have crested the hill into thirty-four!

As previously mentioned, today was a most busy day for me, what with Mrs S this morning, the interview for the Library Collections Officer and then a shift at Mona Vale Library, phew!

Although...I'm not sure how well the interview went...compared to the one for the Inter-Library Loans Officer, which actually went ahead after all (yeah, I know, first it was off last Thursday and then I found out on Monday afternoon it was back on). I really should have prepared better for it, because the opening interview questions were about the job specifically and I really had no idea! How embarrassing is that?!! Also, it's full-time? I thought it was part-time, I must have mixed it up with the other one...

Anyway, I can expect to hear about the job on Friday, let's see what happens, I guess, I never can tell if I've done well in these things or not.

Anywho! Regarding my birthday, I actually celebrated with the family yesterday, because as I mentioned my mother left town today with her friend. So I got my birthday presents yesterday, including the green wallet! I've been waiting almost a whole year to get it (it cost 100 bucks so Mum and Dad paid for it on the basis I'd get it on my birthday, so ta-da!) Also the little bro showed up to the dinner which was quite a surprise, he even bought me a box of chocolates! How nice. :O)

Also, today my new Pusheen umbrella arrived! Hooray! Except...it also has a slightly wonky arm...they must all be like that? However, it's not twisted like the original one was, sooo yeah (I have no idea where that first one went...how did it fall out of my bag without me noticing?!)

I had some very good luck this morning as well when I discovered my necklace in the gutter next to my car, I'd taken it off to wear another one to the Inter Library Loans Officer interview and stuck into the front pocket of my bag and forgot to put it back on. So when I noticed it was missing this morning and couldn't find it in my bag I didn't have high hopes...so finding it outside was a Hell of a relief, especially considering the weather was a bit wild last night...guess it didn't rain after all.

Mrs S also got me a small present, a very nice necklace and a tube of lipstick. I wore the lipstick to the interview, it's a good colour on me if I do say so myself, LOL. And then I wore the necklace to work, it's very nice.

Anyway, I didn't get quite enough sleep last night so I really need to turn in, those zzzzs are needed like whoa!

Goodnight all!

anonymoose_au: (Oh Bitch Bitch Bitch)
11:50pm: So there's more skating on this week - this time in China, which is pretty good timewise for me...but OMG every skater I was really rooting for bar one screwed up - or got screwed (figure skating judging is notoriously iffy). Now obviously this is ridiculous, I don't control the universe, of course, but man, when five of your favourites end up way off the podium and I don't even know if two of the three who did actually deserved to be you start to get suspicious!

I'm starting to feel relieved rather than bummed that I didn't fangirl Plushy (who's 35th birthday was yesterday) earlier! He might not have become the unstoppable winner he was LOL!

My biggest beef, is that the female skater I like did a triple axel (which is a jump that like...only one other lady can do at the moment) and it wasn't the neatest looking jump, but she did all her other ones amazingly, but still ended up 7th because...I dunno...the rules don't reward that sort of thing anymore. Grumble, grumble.

In other news, there was a rather embarrassing incident at work for me today...a lady and her daughter came in to pick up a DVD they reserved. The first problem, it was the wrong DVD! D: How the Hell did that even happen? Fortunately I was able to find the right one, but it was old and the lady felt that it would be too scratched to work, so she asked if we had a DVD cleaning machine.

Well, we do, but I've never used it and I don't think I'm allowed, which I told her. She looks at me as if I'm a complete idiot and asks if there's anyone else who can. I ask the librarian but she doesn't know anything about it, so at this point I'm getting agitated, the lady is getting more demanding and I don't know what to do.

Finally, I go downstairs to the DVD cleaning machine and try to work it, but it doesn't work. One of the collection management ladies is there so I ask if she knows how to use it. She flips out telling me I shouldn't have touched the machine! Apparently it's really hard to use, and the lady who looks after it is away from work with a broken leg and none of them have been able to figure it out since she's been out.

So I go back to the lady and explain this, but she's still asking what is she meant to do if she takes the disc home and it won't play.

Well, at this point I lose it and snap at her, because I don't have an answer. Because even if she brings it back on Monday or whatever, I don't know if there'll be someone who can work the DVD cleaner there (I don't actually mention that). I tell her we won't charge her for the hold (even though I'm not supposed to do that either), but she STILL wants to know what will happen if the DVD won't play.

At which point I practically yell "I DON'T KNOW?!!" Other people in the library look in our direction, at which point the librarian has to step in and diffuse the situation. But the lady clearly thought I had a problem and was being unreasonable.

But I ask you...was I? Or was she? First off, it's a library, people borrow the DVDs, hopefully they don't wreck them, but if they do, they either need to confess or tell us the DVD doesn't play. I can't possibly know if it does or doesn't because I don't have a frigging DVD player, I mean there is actually one in the library, but it would have taken a fuckload of time to turn on and connect to the TV.

Secondly, I said I couldn't operate the machine, is this an oversight by library management? Maybe, but if I can't use it, I can't use it. But then I tried to and I can only hope I didn't break it! I suppose I should have stood my ground, but she was being extremely pushy.

Now the DVD has been descratched before, a few years ago, but honestly? It probably hasn't been borrowed since then, so.

The point is, the whole thing was embarrassing and upsetting and since we all wear name tags these days now I have to worry that I might be reported! Or that the librarian who I don't know very well, but seems a bit..gossipy might tell. And considering that just this morning another co-worker was telling me how much the appreciated me work as a volunteer and that I'm a great employee is disconcerting.

Or perhaps I'm being oversensitive.

I don't think I've been getting enough sleep lately, so I really need to go to bed right now (it's nearly 12:30am and catch up!)

And my NaNo is languishing with all this skating watching. :OP

Social Day!

Oct. 8th, 2017 11:15 pm
anonymoose_au: (Pinkie Pie Bounce!)
11:01pm: Yes indeed! Not only was this morning the get together for my uncle's birthday (usually it would be for my aunt too as her birthday is actually today, but she's sick so couldn't come), but since I took the day off work I went to my friend's house in the afternoon.

The family get-together was great! I made mini-blueberry muffins and we had breakfast with sausages, toast, eggs and tomatoes (although I didn't eat those :OP) and a good time was had by all.

It was also great seeing my friend again, since I've been slacking on contacting her so it's been like a few months since I've seen her last, despite the fact she lives like only ten minutes away, shame on me! Hopefully, we'll be able to see each other a bit more often, although since I work on the weekends and like to go skating on Saturday afternoons and I've been getting those extra shifts it's harder than you'd think to find a good time.

The only downside of today is hayfever is attacking me like whoa right now...at least I hope it's hayfever, it better not be another cold (knock on wood!) Mrs S will never let me live it down if it is, plus I don't need that shit.

But I think it is, because it all started yesterday when I used the fan rather than the air-conditioner in my car, I think the fan takes in air from outside rather than air that's all ready in the car and I got a face full of pollen because my nose was itchy and runny. Then today it's all stuffy, and my ears are itchy. I've been meaning to use my nose spray, but I can't find it! I'm hesitant to take an actual hayfever tablet because whilst they do work my eyeballs end up so dry I end up with a terrible headache. I may have to give in a take one so I can get some sleep, perhaps it won't be so bothersome if my eyeballs are closed.

Speaking of bed, I have to hit the hay right now because I haven't been getting enough sleep the last few days what with the ice skating and it doesn't take much for a lack of sleep to get to me. :OP Also, it's that time o' the month, grumble grumble.

So on that note I'll be off! But all in all it was a great day, I even got to see the little bro, it's been a while and I was really happy to hear he's given up smoking, yay!

And now I'm off.

Goodnight all!

11:19pm: Ok, I actually started this update last night, but then somehow closed my browser and by then it was quite late and I had to get to bed.

Anyway, it did auto-save it, so let's get back on it:

The reason for the subject heading? Well, exciting news! Our Aussie Skater, Brendan Kerry has just picked up a bronze medal at the Lombardia Trophy! Aaah! It's not one of the big well-known skating competitions, but important people still go there, so yaaay! How awesome is that! :O) I'm very much looking forward to seeing him at the Olympics!

Speaking of skating, I didn't end up doing any of my own today, it was rather warm and I ended up feeling pretty hot in my jeans and just generally uncomfortable, I ended up turning around and heading back home a third of the way there. I felt kind of disappointed in myself for not going - pft story of my life - I did actually think of going once I changed my clothes, but then my abdominal area decided to hurt and I just felt lazy.

I did end up going to the local shopping centre, to see about buying new sneakers, where I was surprised to discover that the sports shop has been bought out by another chain! That was quick, there was no indication they were in trouble. I think all the staff stayed which is good to know.

Anyway, they were having a 20% off sale, but alas I couldn't find a pair that really spoke to me. I thought about getting a rainbow pair but since I wear them to work I don't want them to be too over the top...or maybe I was just feeling cheap and the fact I couldn't find any under 80 bucks that weren't bright pink was what put me off. LOL.

As for today, eh, not a lot happened, I don't think I got enough sleep though because I felt really odd this morning, like...bummed out and shit. I feel better now, though, so that's a relief.

But damnit, once again I started writing on my fanfic too late, because I really have to go to bed now and I've done like...three sentences of it. :O( Perhaps I'll have to give up on my 70 books a year target, because reading stuff is interfering with my writing stuff. :OP

Anywho, time for me to go, want to keep on the right side of the zzzs!

Goodnight all!

10:25pm: And it kicks me in the ass in the form of a nasty headache at the end of the day, which means I haven't written a single word on my fanfic. Sigh!!! Don't leave me, mojo, I love you!

But! I do have exciting news, first off my Viktor Nikiforov Nendroid arrived! OMG, he's so cute! And he looks perfect next to the Yuuri nendroid - please observe.!

Also! As promised a photo of Fluffshenko the Llama. Isn't he totally adorable? SO FLUFFY!

Although speaking of shenko's I was rather worried about Fishshenko this morning he's looking a little a drab...also he was hiding behind the heater in his tank. I thought he was dead actually! But nope. His fins don't look as full as they used to. I hope he's OK, I changed some his water, I've been slacking on that. Honestly me, get the program! I've just seen him swimming around so perhaps he's recovered! I think maybe I've under fed him a bit? Hard to know with fish isn't it?

Oh well, despite the headache I have been enjoying the Junior Grand Prix skating there's been dancing, pairs and now the ladies! There's been an Aussie in each (and in the men too, except I wasn't able to watch that live) although alas our Junior World Champion pairs skaters juuust missed the podium. Ah well, it's early in the season.

Anywho, beyond that not much else to say except it would appear to be ant season again, shiiit, I hate those buggers. Could think I've still got my ant poison from earlier in the year. But seriously get outta my house you nasty things.

Right gonna wrap this up here because the ladies are skating as I said and it's hard to type and watch at the same time!

Good luck to the Aussie there (who trains at the rink I go to!) and goodnight all1

11:44pm: Yes, indeed the first Junior Grand Prix event of the 2017-2018 season is happening up in Brisbane this week! I watched the ladies and mens short programs live yesterday and this afternoon it was the short dance and mens free programs. Interestingly and strangely there's no pairs competition in this event, I always though ice dancing was the least popular of the skating events, the more you know!

So at the end of today the gold, silver and bronze Junior men were crowned. :O) Three Russian born lads, although the gold medalist actually represents USA, so not a clean sweep. :OP But there were three Aussie men and a New Zealander in the mix! One of the Aussie men and the New Zealander were very impressive! There was also a kid from Mexico who kicked some major ass - well maybe not so much scoring wise but still!

Ah figure skating so fun to watch! Although I probably peered at my laptop screen too long because I ended up with a headache thankfully I took some ibproufen and it's good now although yet again I've neglected my fic, honestly me, get with the program!

Speaking of ice skating, I'm pretty sure I won't go tomorrow because I've still got a cough from my cold so it's probably not a good idea. Fortunately, I don't have to worry about my beanie because my friend kindly went and got it for me, yay! Although I feel bad about leaving the beanie with her for too long since I haven't actually given her the money for it yet! Oh well I'll guess I'll figure it out.

Anywho, I better not dilly dally because it's almost midnight and I do have work tomorrow, plus I woke up at like 4am this morning and tossed and turned for a while until I went back to sleep!

Besides I don't actually have anything else to report so I might as well wrap this thing up.

Goodnight all!

11:19pm: Actually, I don't feel that tired, but brain feels totally drained due to a lack of sleep last night. I got to the best part of the third book in the Shades of Magic series and just had to finish it! Which meant I didn't get to sleep until 1am. Which meant I only got 6 hours worth of zzzs last night.

I'm probably being a bit dramatic to be honest, but if I don't get a decent night's sleep tonight I'll be screwed, one night I can manage, but two, heck no! :OP

Anyway, it as a Hell of a good read, so I don't regret it too much, what I do regret is not writing on my fic! I've stalled quite a bit on it, although I think I've figured out how to move forward. LOL time skips are so hard, no wonder my stories end up being so long! But yeah it's a good thing I'm writing the story first before posting up anything, very good advice from my online friend - who I haven't heard from in quite a while now :O( - I hope she's OK!

So yeah, what else to report? Ummm, not a lot. I got an unexpected call yesterday morning from the library asking me if I could do the morning shift, so I had to rearrange my day, but I still got to M and Grandpa's yaaay! :O) Grandpa cooked a delicious lunch and there was sticky date pudding for dessert!

The only thing that didn't go to plan is that M and I didn't manage to finish our game of Canasta, but on the other hand this is even more an incentive for me to go over for another visit - that and the fact I've left some clothes in the garage (at least that's the only place I can think it could be).

Of course, this also meant no ice skating, but what can you do? I did end up calling the Macquarie Centre Jays-Jays and they've nicely put aside the last Cupcake Pusheen beanie for me to get when I come in on Saturday. Niiice.

On that note I should wrap this up because like I said zzzs are needed and tomorrow's going to be a busy day with a library shift in the morning and volunteering in the afternoon! On the plus side I did get to the gym this afternoon after Scripture Class, so phew!

So, for now, goodnight all!

11:34pm: Huh, I thought I got enough zzzzs last night, but apparently not? Either that or the ice skating i did this afternoon tired me out more than I thought.

Either way I can barely keep my eyes open, which is annoying because I wanted to write more on my fic and actually put together a coherent journal entry. LOL, so much fail on my behalf.

I can't even remember what I've said in previous entries? Did I mention the library assistant interview next Wednesday? Well even if I did I shall mention it again because this is awesooome! I need to get myself prepared for it though, ask the right questions, answer the right questions and all that.

Right, so due to overwhelming tiredness I'm gonna wrap this up here, I gotta brush my teeth before going to bed after all!

And now I say goodnight!

11:25pm: Nope, not at all...I stayed up too late last night like a dumbass and also the night before...so yeah, I'm very sleepy, which sucks because the Fed-Ex is playing his Semi-Final tonight and I can't watch it because it's the second one and the first one is definitely going to go to four sets. Balls :OP

I did a least get to see a shot of the Fed-Ex hanging at the Player's Restaurant watching the action. LOL, he's cool as a cucumber. But seriously, I can't believe I've hardly seen any Wimbledon this year?! I don't remember it being such a problem previously? Although I have noticed they don't seem to be reshowing games in the day time...it's probably all on the internet now, bah!

I'm also feeling pretty bummed about Le Tour, I can't get into it without Phil Liggett, it's just not the same! I wonder is he gone from commentating races all together? Is it all just interviews now? Which incidentally I never see on SBS even when I tune into the start of the coverage!

I'm also struggling a bit with my story...I'm tossing up between skipping this particular event all together, it's technically not that important to the plot and can be referred back to in later chapters or whatever. Decisions, decisions. Maybe I should skip it and see how it goes, LOL, guess my Tumblr friend was right about not posting until you've finished writing the story.

Oh yeah! That reminds me, yesterday after finishing work at the Mona Vale Library before heading for my volunteering I bought a lined notepad and put it in my Bamboo Spark and got around to trying it out. And it worked! Hooray! I was a bit worried because the pad has 90 sheets and the manual recommended only 50. So I'm hoping that'll be useful for my writing.

But anyway, I have to be off since like I said I underslept and it bit me in the butt, starting from this morning when I woke up turned my alarm off and fell back to sleep for another half hour! I was a bit late to Mrs S's which I've been doing a lot lately, stop backsliding me!

Also my tiredness led to me skipping the gym this afternoon, sigh. I expect better from me, LOL.

So yes, I bid you all goodnight!

11:28pm: So for the past few days I've continued investigating tablets and I thought to myself, you know what, maybe I should buy one of those cheap 7 inch tablet they have at Officeworks, it comes in all sorts of different colours and I could use it for apps and type my fanfic on this laptop etc etc.

Except, I kinda forgot the main problem with that tablet, it's got some weird shit going on with the screen, like...it's weird? It's got this kind of glare to it and it's nearly impossible to hold it at an angle that doesn't cause it to look weird. It's not easy on the eye at all, boo.

So, now I have to take it back...again, not that they know I bought one before, but dang what a waste of time, grumble grumble.

I think I'm just going to go back to looking at second hand tablets, or see if I can get the old Motorola to work properly in the meantime, damn thing's so slow these days. But it's not like there's not enough storage on it, very strange...Maybe that's just how it goes.

Right, what else to report - well, I got an email today from Mona Vale with a whoooole lotta shifts for the upcoming months! Wow, what luck! I can take all of them pretty much...except for the two I'm already working, LOL.

In less good luck, it would appear the library job that I'm going to apply for was originally advertised only internally...I don't remember seeing it, do'h! So now it's being externally advertised, so there's gonna be a heap of applications. Of course, I'm going to call the contact person and let them know I'll be apply and so on, although there is one concern...namely that one of my co-workers who I was working with today had rang up to ask about the job and it sounds like they want someone who'd be willing to do Storytime for the kids. It's not a necessary part of the job description yet, but ewww.

Also I wonder how the days will work out? Plus it's for Manly Library, which is interesting, I wonder why they didn't mention it it in the ad. Eh, whatever.

So time is running short so I better wrap this up - but I need to remember to call a few people on Monday, namely the HR Department about claiming some of my gym membership, I keep forgetting to do so and I need to know if the GST needs to be on the thing or what.

Also, I should call my friend! I saw her in the library today actually, but we didn't have enough time to talk, but I've been too much of a hermit lately.

Right, it's ten minutes to midnight and once again I've been late to get to bed so I shall take this as my cue to exit!

Goodnight all!

Cemented

Jun. 24th, 2017 11:59 pm
anonymoose_au: (Arthur-Cartwheel)
11:54pm: Right I've left this way too late to update, but just a few quick pieces of news for you all.

Firstly, after all that I found my activity tracker, the magnetic part of it had stuck to my keys and when I got up on Friday morning and actually focused on the hanging from the hook I saw it there! Phew! I also put in a new battery because the one it came with was definitely on the fritz. Although that still doesn't explain why the 'find tracker' thing in the app said it was in the city, seriously WTF?

Also, in regards to the subject heading the cement guys finally came by this morning to put in the new concrete. Luckily, the landlord had these planks behind his house which I'm using as a walk-way to my door. The new cement looks super nice, it's also much higher, almost the same level as inside the flat. Which makes me wonder if I should be worried if it rains? Won't water be able to seep inside much more easily? I sure hope not!

I didn't go ice skating this evening because a co-worker tipped me off that the outdoor ice skating rink is back in the city again! Sweeet! I'm planning to go on Tuesday this week, although it might have to be Thursday since I'm hanging out at M and Grandpa's on Tuesday, but then I'm going over Monday night so...I suppose I'd leave when M goes for her nap. Anyway the point is, I want to go at an off-peak time, it's cheaper then.

Anyway, it's almost midnight and I didn't get enough shut-eye last night so I gotta wrap this up...lack of sleep is making me feel uninspired to write and that ain't cool.

So now, bed is needed! Goodnight all!
