11:02pm: And dang it, if I'm not improving the last bit there because it's 11pm and I'm just updating this!

Anyway, the good news is the first part of the subject title here is true too! My apartment was clean enough to pass muster with the parental units! Although, maybe they were just being polite, LOL. But hey I also went and bought the pizza and provided mini-Magnum ice creams for dessert. :O)

So yes, a good time was had by all, and the little bro came through getting Mum a present and a card - which totally slipped my mind, so that was well done by him, since Mum only mentioned recently that she enjoys getting a card at least.

OK, so this entry is looking pretty short, but an interesting thing happened today in the Inter Library Loans, a library requested a book that was out on loan to someone and I was about to mark the request as non-supply when I realised...the person who had the book on loan was me! XD So I said I'd supply it and figured I'd just borrow it when it comes back, buuut, it's a short book or at least shorter than the other books I have have on my to read pile, so I'm reading it in the hope I can finish it.

However, I do have to do my Duolingo, and as mentioned it's after 11pm so I should have my butt in bed and I'm not quite halfway through it, ah well, I could maybe just wait for Monday, it's not like the requesting library would know :OP

Anyway, on that note I better head off, although they're at the pointy end of the Mixed Recurve Open at the Paralympics, but I don't think the gold medal match will happen before midnight, I guess I'll have to catch up on that tomorrow. We did have an Aussie team in the competition actually, but we got knocked out in 1/8 round, rather disappointingly since we were in a good position!

I've also just realised that the this week's Junior GP in Figure Skating is probably on, ah well, you can't watch everything.

So on that note, I'm off!

Goodnight all!

10:04pm: LOL, I can't tell time so I was like hey it's still George McFly's birthday in the US right, except it's totally not.

Oh well, whatever, it's the thought that counts, or something.

Anyway, once again I haven't been updating a lot, mostly because life remains, same ol' same ol', which is great since it means my job is going well :O) Although recently my supervisor and a co-worker have left for greener pastures. Good for them I guess, but I liked working with them, so I'm kind of bummed. We've got a new co-worker now though, who's super nice, so yay! Still no word on a new supervisor though, hopefully it will be someone who suffers weirdoes gladly :OP

Also, daylight saving has ended, boooo! And the weather has turned cool, summer and spring are definitely behind us now. Which means it gets darker much quicker in the afternoon, to which I say boo again. Well, one of my co-workers is happy about this since she gets up early, so now she doesn't have to commute to work in the dark.

Oh well, now that I've joined the gym across the way from the library doing my weekly work out isn't as difficult to get to and from.

Apart from that not much else to report, although I have found a new fandom to play around in, Ghosts! The US version not the UK version. I've found a fun group on Discord to hang out with, written a few fanfics, hooray for inspiration!

What I remain inspiration-less for is cleaning up...every so often Mum will come by the apartmento so I clean it all up and say to myself it must stay that way and it does not. I may have mentioned this last entry...in fact there's a strong possibility I did, LOL.

Oh well, at least I did my laundry, although I totally need to fold it and put it away now since it's covering my bed. Yes, yes, I'm an adult!

I did spend the night at my parents place though - they've been away in Uluru, so it was great to catch up after church, plus we had roast chicken and vegetables for lunch before Mum drove me home, so yeah whoo!

Right, I don't have to go to work until the afternoon tomorrow (since I worked on Saturday) but I still don't want to stay up too late, my sleep has been a bit poor lately so I'm hoping to fix that.

See you next time I feel the urge to update! :OP

10:22pm: Yes! I went and saw her yesterday morning and as promised by the newspaper article, she was biiiig. Her name is Rosie, LOL.

I was able to get a nice lady to take a photo of me with Rosie since my attempt at a selfie was hampered by my short arms.

You may ask, why the Hell was there a giant pink flamingo in the middle of the mall anyway? Well, I think I might have mentioned in my last entry it's was an advertisement for a company that makes pool floaty toys among other things. Rosie was convienently located next to the big fountain where there was a display of other pink flamingoes both of the personal floating kind and the set your drink on it kind, LOL.

Anywho, it was a good thing I had to go to the mall because I had to get some napkins and number candles for M's birthday brunch as well as some coleslaw sauce for Mum.

M's birthday brunch was both good and bad, good because it was a yummy meal, M was in a good mood and enjoyed her gifts, the little bro was there and there was cake! The bad was Mum and I got into a bit of an argument over something dumb. Bah!

What else to report, well the dress I wore to the brunch and then to work is a nice one except that the arm holes are too small, I discovered that the dress had been taken in a bit when I got home, so I unpicked it, but the armholes are still too small. So I may have to get it altered by a professional becaue I don't know how to do that.

Apart from that, not a lot to say! Although I'm still trying to sort my outdoor Christmas tree shaped light issue, I thought I'd solved it today with some suction cup hanging things, but they don't work on my granny flat's walls (even though they are supposed to work outdoors). I seem to remember I actually bought them last year and had to return them because of the same reason, LOL whoops. On the upside I did see something at Bunnings that should work. Just as long as it's not nails, because as a tenant I can't bang holes into the wall.

I should post photos of my Christmas decos, I'm quite proud of the set-up I have here, but since I'm going to work at Mrs S's tomorrow (I swapped days with the other carer this week) I need to wrap this entry up. Also I don't want to type for too long because I've got a sore index finger from a cut I got today when I knocked over and broke one of Mrs S's glasses. :O( It was all the way from Peru too! Craaaap. She has some others, but still. Also, I stabbed my ring finger cuticle on that same hand (the left) with the seam ripper last night, so ouch. Then finally I scrapped the first knuckle of the same index finger on something at Mrs S's, so yes, my poor hand.

I'm so clumsy, gee.

And lastly, after the schmoozle of last week and leaving my fridge open a bit, I thought I should make it a bit colder since it's summer time, which turned out to be a bad idea, half the stuff in there got frozen! Including the milk, and the lettuce. Dang. I've turned it back down a bit and hopefully it's OK.

Right, must be off, I made spaghetti sauce tonight and made lasagna which has just finished cooking so I gotta put it in the fridge and I'l be having some yummy lunch and dinner for the next few days!

Goodnight all!

Social Day!

Oct. 8th, 2017 11:15 pm
anonymoose_au: (Pinkie Pie Bounce!)
11:01pm: Yes indeed! Not only was this morning the get together for my uncle's birthday (usually it would be for my aunt too as her birthday is actually today, but she's sick so couldn't come), but since I took the day off work I went to my friend's house in the afternoon.

The family get-together was great! I made mini-blueberry muffins and we had breakfast with sausages, toast, eggs and tomatoes (although I didn't eat those :OP) and a good time was had by all.

It was also great seeing my friend again, since I've been slacking on contacting her so it's been like a few months since I've seen her last, despite the fact she lives like only ten minutes away, shame on me! Hopefully, we'll be able to see each other a bit more often, although since I work on the weekends and like to go skating on Saturday afternoons and I've been getting those extra shifts it's harder than you'd think to find a good time.

The only downside of today is hayfever is attacking me like whoa right now...at least I hope it's hayfever, it better not be another cold (knock on wood!) Mrs S will never let me live it down if it is, plus I don't need that shit.

But I think it is, because it all started yesterday when I used the fan rather than the air-conditioner in my car, I think the fan takes in air from outside rather than air that's all ready in the car and I got a face full of pollen because my nose was itchy and runny. Then today it's all stuffy, and my ears are itchy. I've been meaning to use my nose spray, but I can't find it! I'm hesitant to take an actual hayfever tablet because whilst they do work my eyeballs end up so dry I end up with a terrible headache. I may have to give in a take one so I can get some sleep, perhaps it won't be so bothersome if my eyeballs are closed.

Speaking of bed, I have to hit the hay right now because I haven't been getting enough sleep the last few days what with the ice skating and it doesn't take much for a lack of sleep to get to me. :OP Also, it's that time o' the month, grumble grumble.

So on that note I'll be off! But all in all it was a great day, I even got to see the little bro, it's been a while and I was really happy to hear he's given up smoking, yay!

And now I'm off.

11:24pm: Right so I've left writing this entry rather late - aka story of my life these days :OP - but I do at least have something intriguing to relate!

So yesterday did not start well, in fact there was a huge fuck-up, namely I never turned my alarm back on after Thursday and in my infinite wisdom I grouped Tuesday's and Thursday's alarm with the weekend so you can see where this is going.

I didn't wake up until 10 to 10am when I'm meant to be at work at 9:30am!! So there was a mad dash to get there, but even so I was a whole hour late. Fuuuck. This is like the third time this has happened to me, admittedly that's over three years but I feel like this isn't the usual sort of thing that happens to a person.

Anyway, to get back to the cake mystery - at work on Saturday there was a slice of delicious looking chocolate mousse cake. I had a little sliver of it during lunch, although my co-workers didn't notice it and thus didn't have a slice. At the end of the day I was severely tempted to finish off the cake, but since I was making cupcakes for Father's Day/Mum's Birthday I decided to leave it for my work colleague on Sunday.

Except...there was no cake in the fridge today! Like I distinctly recall putting it back in the fridge so where the hell did it go? Eventually it looked as if one of the librarians who was there yesterday must have eaten it, since the empty cake-box was on the fridge. Except...it was a different box! So the chocolate mousse cake and its box have disappeared! So weird...could the cleaners have taken it? Seems unlikely and where did the box go?!

Perhaps there's a Bermuda Triangle in the library kitchen, LOL.

Oh and after work I went ice skating after a stop at my house because I managed to leave my bag behind in my rush. And I finally got my beanie that my friend bought me because I was still battling my cold at the time. I paid her the 20 bucks for it and also ended up purchasing another cute Pusheen "I love Kitties" t-shirt at the actual Jay-Jays. I did get 10% since I became a member there.

Anyway, it's swiftly approaching midnight and I swear I mustn't be getting enough sleep so I best wrap this up, suffice to say dinner at Mum and Dad's place tonight with cupcakes for dessert was a yummy success!

I better be off then, so goodnight!

11:28pm: There's not a lot to say about it probably, since all the competitiors have to wear white, but they've got a Frenchman playing and his got a bushy beard! LOL I've never seen a tennis player with a beard before! Actually that seems to be an athlete thing, I know body hair is the enemy of swimmers, divers and cyclists, but you don't see other athletes with them either. Hmm, maybe it's all the sweater.

In other news, I'm relieved to report that I've managed to get through a road block in my fan fic! I've been stuck on it for the past few days, but finally some inspiration hit. Yay, go me!

So I didn't end up updating yesterday after all because that's how I roll, but let it be said, it was a great get together for my cousin Mack's birthday. Some of his maternal cousins were there, who I don't think I've met before, interesting people.

I had a cheese burger with chips on the side (I also put the lettuce that was in the burger on the side, because who wants warm lettuce? Why is that a thing anyway?) Very nice, although the cheese could have been meltier, it's hard to find good cheese.

Mack liked the Google gift card my little bro and I got for him - which reminds me I forgot to give the little bro my bank details so he can pay me back, whoops! - and the card I made. I drew Mr Burns in his "Excellent" pose since we enjoyed the play.

Aunt Jo made a rather interesting cake with caramelised apple and...I'm not sure what else, not chocolate though, because my aunt doesn't cook with chocolate. But there was dollop cream to go with it so yuuum!

Plus let's not forget the fact I took a paid day off work, so yay!:O)

Anywho, it's ten minutes to midnight now, so I better go, I've got work tomorrow at 9:30am and I need to make sure I get the proper amount of zzzs.

Wish me luck with my story and goodnight all!

11:17pm: Yeees, George III's birthday was a couple of days ago 4th June! Happy Birthday to the Monarch who's collection became the nexus of the British Library.

In other news, this is a creepy as Hell episode of Cold Case...I mean they usually are, but this one has a sick pedophile, so yeah, gross. There's a lot of sickos out there.

Not much else to report, although I did get my volunteering done at Dee Why Library as well as my paid shift at Mona Vale. Although, I'm not really looking forward to that bullshit training thing I have to go to on Thursday, I spoke to a colleague who went to the session that was on this morning and it sounds like the biggest wank. The only upside is I'll be paid for my time, but still...there's other stuff I could be doing, like writing my fic! I've slowed down in writing it, I don't want to lose the mojo...I'm think I should bring a notebook to that stupid training thing and write in it like I used to do at school. Hah that'll take me back.

Anyway, it's getting late and I need to wrap this up so I can get to sleep ASAP once Cold Case finishes, which is soon! Although this entry is seriously lacking, sorry about that - although I sure feel like I'm saying that a lot :OP I should get an interesting hobby!

And that's all I have to say about that.

11:27pm: Indeed! I finally got around to making a card for the occasion! I pride myself on my homemade cards, but I've been slacking on them lately. But I made one for Mum, yaaay! Although not for my little bro, who's birthday was yesterday. I thought I was going to see him at the Mother's Day Brunch at my Uncle's place but alas he's sick and wasn't able to come (sick for your birthday, that suuucks), so I called him to wish m a belated birthday. I left him a message at first since he didn't answer, he called me later though.

Sadly the weather was not very nice today, all rainy in fact when I drove over to my uncle's place it was totally bucketing down, I couldn't even hear the radio over it! Luckily, it let up but it was still pretty dreary.

However, work at the library was still pretty busy because it was Code Club day, which is a monthly computer thing that is popular with kids - there were thirty of them there this time! However, my feet were positively aching by the end of the shift. However, they're fine now...so I don't know if this is a sign of an issue with the shoes or if I'm just adjusting to the orthodics or what? It's puzzling I tells ya! The shoes are stiffer than the ones I had before, so maybe I just need to break them in?

What else to report? Not much, which is good since it is getting late and I should be getting ready to hit the hay and since I'm at my parental units' place I need to get the couch ready to lie on :OP

Before I do that though...drumroll please...a Meme!

:The Getting to Know You Questions:

1. What is your occupation right now? How long have you been there? I have two, three mornings a week I'm a personal carer for Mrs S, I've been working for her for nearly two and a half years now, wow! On the weekends (and a shift here and there) I work as a library assistant in Mona Vale and I've been there for...nearly two years. Niicce.

2. Favorite rock band. Ever. EVER? Man that's a tough one...do The Corrs count as rock? If not I'm gonna say The Beatles.

3. What are you listening to right now?
A house show Mum recorded, we enjoy watching the house shows together on Sunday :O)

4. Last person you spoke to on the phone. What was it about? The little bro, about his birthday and is badly time sickness!

5. How old are you today? Or make up a question. This one bites. Can't think of another question so I'll answer this one, 33.

6. What is your favorite sport to watch on TV? Figure skating for the win!

7. What is your favorite drink? Iced water...or iced chocolate.

8. Have you ever dyed your hair? Nope, I'm too lazy to do it myself, too cheap to have it done at the hair dresser and I wouldn't want to mess it up and be stuck with it!

9. Favorite food? CHEEEEESE!

10. What is the last movie you watched? Finding Dory on DVD.

11. Favorite day of the year? Oooh, that's a toughie, I'll say Christmas, because hey it's Christmas!

12. How do you vent anger? Not well, mostly with yelling and crying. :O/

13. What was your favorite toy as a child? My imagination :OP Also my dollshouse.

14. Living arrangements? (Of course your pets count. Geez!) I live in a Granny Flat with my fish, Fishenko. :O)

15. What was the last thing that you cried about? Uh...you know I can never remember, I mean I remember crying, but not what it was about.

16. Who is the friend you have had the longest? I guess it'd be Edith? But we're not so much in contact these days, so I'll say Zep. We've known each other since I was about 13! Edith too, actually, so yeah!

17. What did you do last night? Hung out online and watched house shows.

18. What are you most afraid of? Throwing up.

19. In how many areas of your country have you lived? What's your favorite? I was born in Canberra and lived with my family for five years in Dubbo, which is in the country and of course here in Sydney. And despite my feeling when we moved there I gotta say Sydney has been the best. (Although Australia's a huge place, and I've only lived on the east coast!)

20. What is your favorite flower? (Ugh. Quite the note to go out on. But hell, we steal the questions. I guess you get what you pay for.) I love red roses! :OP

Okedoke, that's my cue to exit, it's ten minutes to midnight!

11:18pm: On this house show I watch on Sunday night. It's called Flip This House and it follows different flippers (as they call them), but I tell ya the last few episodes have been full of Angry Guys, like all yelling and swearing at each other. Can't you boys just get along? :OP

In other news, I finally remembered to get the box my mother found in M and Grandpa's garage from the boot of my car, although with all the rain that's been going on it hasn't really been that feasible. But the rain finally let up this afternoon so when I finished work and popped home before heading to church I carried it, my cupcake carrier (which I got from Mum earlier) and my box of the first few seasons of The Simpsons (which I'd lent to my Uncle Sam and his family and also got back earlier) into the granny flat.

Mum said there were clothes in the box, but imagine my surprise when I opened it and started to go through to find all these clothes I really like but hadn't been able to find! I have no idea why the ended up in M and Grandpa's garage, among them were my Garfield satin pjs, a few of my favourite t-shirts, a dress that'd been super good for the beach and stuff like that! I'd been wondering where it had got to for ages!

This why you have to be careful where you put things when moving!

Anyway! Grandpa's birthday party was great! Although I was only able to be there for an hour (boo), but I got to see M, Grandpa, Aunt Weed, her fiance Pete, Uncle Sam, Aunt Jo, cousin Mack and my parental units. Good times, good times. Although it was super humid today so that was a bit uncomfortable, good thing I wore one of my sundresses!

Aunt Jo kindly cooked sausages early so I had something to eat before I headed off for work - although as it happened the traffic was good (of course) so I ended up being early. I went to look around the shopping centre and got a call from my friend, Ben inviting me to go to the beach (although it was still pretty cloudy at that time!) but alas I couldn't go. Boo! As it happened the weather cleared up during the day and judging from the photo he posted on Facebook it turned out to be quite a nice day.

Speaking of Facebook photos, some people uploaded photos they took, including the group shot! I'm sure you can spot me. :O) And see everyone seems so tall! I thought my heels were a decent height.

Right, I better be off! I've got work tomorrow morning and I still have my Russian to do before I turn in. Let's all hope my bank card arrives tomorrow! I owe Mum another fifty bucks and Mrs S a hundred (I may see if I can send her that money by direct debit, guess it depends what she wants).

Oh and I almost forgot, I went to my parental units this evening after church (they and Mrs Lampe came so we all sat together) so I got delicious lasagna and salad for dinner. Alas the little bro was meant to come, he also missed the party this morning, but he wasn't up to it - apparently he partied a little too hearty last night.

For now, though, goodnight!

In other great news, I took my External Harddrive to the computer shop in Collaroy and he was able to take the case apart and put it in a different case with a little attachment thing that works. Hooray! It cost me $50 but this is considerably cheaper than having to do specialist type data retrieval. Plus I don't need to buy a whole new drive to back stuff up to. Yaaay!

And more good news there was a Fast 4 Tennis tournament tonight, it was Australia vs the World and we won! :OP Although we were represented by Nick Kygrios and Bernard Tomic otherwise known as the two biggest jerks in tennis! Although their behaviour was OK this tournament so perhaps they've finally taken up the advice to see sports psychologist. Although I didn't actually watch Kygrios but that's what my friend said over Facebook messenger.

And lastly...a new ep of Air Crash Investigation is on right now, sweeet! Although, I shouldn't stay up too late to watch it all, there's work tomorrow after all.

But before I turn in let's have a Meme

Sunday Stealing

24/09/2016

: The "Doing Questions Like It's 2003" Meme"

1. Tell us about your pets. If you don’t have one, share why you don’t. I have a Siamese Fighting Fish called Plushenko. He's a beautiful teal and black and he lives in a nice 16L tank on my cabinet. I was a bit worried about him when I got home after work today, he seemed a bit listless, but he seems better now. Phew! (My previous four fish died in quick succession, it was rather sad)

2. Name three things that are close to you. Like literally? My mobile phone, a block of Cadbury chocolate and a book about overcoming anxiety issues.

3. How was the weather for your summer? We're still in summer and so far it's been quite warm indeed.

4. What was the last film you saw? Did you like it? It was the new Ghostbusters film at my friend's house and I liked it a lot!

5. Tell us about the last trip that you took. Uh...it was ages ago back at the end of 2014 when I to Bathurst to get my Masters in Information Studies. My parents came along too, although they went a day earlier and I met them in Lithgow after coming in on the train.

6. Where do you buy groceries? Why? Usually from Warriewood Square, especially since an Aldi opened over there. As for why, it's the closest shops to me!

7. Tell us something that you did today. Or will do if you haven’t had your morning coffee yet. I don't drink coffee :OP And today I went to the gym, good times.

8. Have you pulled an all-nighter? Not intentionally, once I couldn't get to sleep at all because I read the prologue of the Jaws novelisation and it scared the Hell outta me!

9. Can you taste the difference between Pepsi & Coke? Don't drink either.

10. Tell us about your siblings. How many and what do they do? I have two brothers, one older and one younger. The eldest lives in Japan with his wife and baby daughter and he works in the legal department of a bank I think? My younger brother lives a few suburbs away, but we don't see him much and he works at a warehouse.

11. What’s the oldest thing that you own? Well, I do have a vest from my mother which she sewed herself back in the 70s, so I'm gonna say that.

And I gotta run now, it's actually past midnight, but I was trying to do my Russian so um, let's just pretend it isn't. :OP (Still Happy Birthday to me! :OD)

11:30pm: Yes indeed! And my big bro, sister-in-law and little niece have headed off back to Japan. Ah, it's been good having them here, although it's not like I saw them all the time, but it was fun while I could. In fact, just yesterday I had the experience of holding a baby, which I haven't done before, because as I've mentioned before perhaps, I don't really want to hold a baby because they seem way too squishy and the thought kind of freaks me out. However, yesterday my big bro was trying to show me how to do something on his i-Pad and I didn't do it right so he was like "Hold the kid, I'll fix it."

So, I got to hold a 10 month old, who fortunately wasn't too squishy, although she was heavier than I expected :OP. Suffice to say though, I don't have much of a maternal instinct, so I didn't end up all "coo-ey" and what not. I'm just happy to report my niece didn't poke me in the eye, LOL!

So, today was another day off from work at the library for me, yay! However, I realised this evening while checking my shifts that I've put my hand up for not just Tuesday and Thursday this week, but Wednesday and Friday too! Which normally wouldn't be an issue, but though my foot is feeling a lot better (even after all the walking yesterday) I'm a little concerned that this might lead to a flare-up. There's not much I can do about that, though...except not wear those enclosed sandals I bought since I'm not entirely sure they've got proper arch support. Here's hoping the anti-prespirant I got for my feet will hold up with the other shoes.

Anywho, the point about having the day off is that I went and saw my friend who wasn't able to come to the New Year's Eve fireworks today, we watched some John Oliver and Galaxy Quest as well as having lunch with her parents. It was fun! :O)

I also made the cupcakes for Mrs S's husband's birthday tomorrow, although I need to finish the frosting before I go to bed, good thing I can get up a bit later in the morning because of the public holiday (which means I only do two hours instead of four) since I won't finish by midnight!

I did make an unfortunate discovery when I came home from the parentals before heading off to my friend's place, I'd left the fridge ajar! Which meant my butter was soft for the cake, but there was no way the milk I just bought on Friday was salavagable. What's really annoying is that I came back to the Granny Flat to collect a number of things before leaving on Saturday and at no point did I notice the fridge door wasn't closed properly. Man, I hope the landlord's power bill won't be horrifying.

Right! I better be off, though I was hoping to get back into the swing of things re: memes, but once again time calls me away.

Goodnight all!

11:50pm: Yeah, yesterday as I was coming home from the parental units place I popped by the 7-11 to get some milk and decided to pick up one of these Santa belly Krispy Kreme donuts, which are super cute looking. I didn't eat it last night because I'd all ready had quite a few sweet, but I warmed it up for dessert tonight and let's just say it was not the best decision. It was just waaay to sweet, my stomach felt so weird afterwards that I almost had a panic attack!

Bah, I don't even care for Krispy Kreme donuts anyway so I don't know what the Hell I was thinking...

Anyway, that was basically the most activity I got done today I'm sorry to say...my mother ended up going swimming in the morning so there was no reason for me to go over since I wouldn't be able to go swimming myself and my big bro was having friends over, so...

I probably should have gone out, lying around all day is no good for me...or my step count. :OP I hope to rectify that tomorrow with not just work but going swimming with Mum at M and Grandpa's place.

Oh! And my the landlord's wife dropped off a small present for me today! How nice of them! I should have at least given them a card...shame on me.

But! It's nearly midnight so I better haul, before I go...I wrote a little fic for my friend [personal profile] crossover_chick for her birthday! Happy Birthday, Vic! This is the first writing I've done in a while so I'm totally rusty...

10:59pm: He's 34 years old, which was (is) Marge's ages at the beginning of The Simpsons! Which makes me feel quite old...

Which might explan why I felt so crap today, which thoroughly sucked because it started out so well with the sub of the figure skating anime and I was feeling generally good when my digestive system decided to act like a total bitch and panicking.

Which totally sucked especially with Mum being out of the country. Sigh me, pull it together!

I did at least get to the Library for my volunteering, and picked up the final season of MacGyver DVD that I had on hold and the latest Patricia Cornwell book which hopefully won't suck.

I then went to my parents' place to drop off a container and once again hunt for the anxiety book. And I'm immensely relieved to report I found it! Thank God.

Dad came home after 4pm, turns out he still does bus duty and I did plan to go home, but with the abdominal pain I've ended up staying over.

So, I better head off now, with any luck my abdomen will be better tomorrow.

Goodnight all!

11:17pm: And just as I posed that question he finally calls him 'Grandpa' on this episode I'm watching, LOL. The rest of the time though he calls him by his first name, which if you ask me is weird. Although having just typed that I'm again reminded that my aunt sometimes calls her own father "Mick" so, you know.

In other news...I was about to write something else and I've just forgotten what it was! Oh yeah that's right, it was pretty warm today, warm enough that I decided I needed to set up the air con. Unfortunately...it didn't all go to plan, first of all, the outlet tube thing doesn't reach the window properly, secondly when I was trying to open the window the adjusting wand thing for the venetian blinds got caught, but I didn't notice until it snapped. Fuuuck, now I have to figure out how to replace it.

Not sure what to do about the outlet tube though...I did sort of get it to reach the window, but the window opens out not up so there's no way to secure it there.

Annoying. :O/

Also annoying is that ever since I updated my Simpsons Tapped Out game it keeps crashing on my phone! This never used to happen, and it means I can't play it, quite the bummer. :O(

And oh shit, I just realised I totally neglected to send my Uncle Sam a birthday SMS! I guess I can do it now, although if he's all ready in bed it might wake him up...

Speaking of which I gotta get my butt to bed myself!

11:38pm: Yes indeed! I realised that today at his belated birthday party at Uncle Sam and Aunt Jo's place. OMG, that's so weird...O.o Also makes a person feel old as Hell, because my cousin, Mack is now thirteen, officially a teenager! Man...that was the age I started to keep a diary...a written one, which I kept up pretty well until I got LJ, at which point I couldn't be bothered keeping two diaries at once. Hmmm, I should make a trip to Newtown and see about digging those things up...or maybe not, I've been doing a lot of looking back at the past lately and it seems to be bumming me out more than anything. On the other hand...it could just be the moving. I'm worried that despite the new furniture - turns out I'm going to stick with getting the expensive one because the one at Target is rather rickety and the one at Fantastic Furniture would fit really great in my (hopefully!) future studio apartment - and second hand white goods I'm not going to like that place. :O( I remain unsure about the ceiling height, I've got so used to the vaulted ceilings here...

Anyway, I opened this entry like an hour ago, but only started writing in it just now, which means I really don't have time to meme or anything! Boo! That'll teach me to procrastinate.

In other news, my big bro sent me another email! According to Mum he's a new man now that he's got a child and everything. :O) It's quite nice to actually get proper emails from him, although I haven't actually replied to him yet.

Anyway, it was a pretty good day, although my IBS did decided to be a bitch so I wasn't as animated as I usually am at the family gathering, but considering how I usually monopolise a conversation this was probably a good thing. My cupcakes were well received! :O)

Right, it's ten to midnight so I gotta get myself to bed, it's gonna be a busy week! Especially with packing stuff...I could have sworn I had extra baskets, but when I went to the Grandparental Garage after the birthday party there were no free ones to be found! I did at least get some plastic tubs. Still bit a mystery to me.

Wish me luck!

It Worked!

May. 14th, 2016 11:41 pm
anonymoose_au: (Pinkie Pie Bounce!)
11:18pm: The Colour Rescue stuff worked on my stripped long-sleeve shirt. Last week I washed it with a red shirt and it the white stripes turned pink! I suppose it wasn't exactly a disaster, but it didn't right. However, I wasn't sure the Colour Rescue stuff would work...Dad used some on Mrs S's white jacket, and it didn't entirely work, although he got most of the pink off in the end after using two satchets.

And I'm sure you're not very interested in that, LOL. Although, it's pretty cool that only the colour you don't want is removed. I guess its because the dye isn't as completely soaked in...Makes me wonder if I could have rescued those green underpants my father ruined many years ago by putting them in with dark stuff.

Moving on! I think my IBS has finally settled down, which is good because tomorrow morning I'm supposed to meet my parents and little bro at a cafe for a belated birthday celebration. I did skip the ice skating though, which I'm a bit sad about, although considering my knees are sore right now it was probably a good decision. Plus i think I need to get my skates sharpened before I go out on them again.

Apart from that, not much else to report, except my friend Ben is visiting from Darwin - where he lives now - this week! We have to meet up! I wonder if I can get my other friend - who I keep forgetting to call! - and we can all meet up. Ooo! Perhaps for Mini-Golf! I hadn't thought of that, good idea me.

Right, better do a Meme or two!

Friday5

How Did You Learn to Do That?

1. How did you learn to throw a ball? Not well. Seriously, though I can't actually throw a ball, I'm like Mr Burns, I end up aiming it into the ground about a metre in front of me.

2. How did you learn to drive? My parents' taught me! Mum was really gung-ho about getting me onto real roads, she had me driving over the Harbour Bridge on like my third or forth go in a car! o.O

3. How did you learn to swim? I had swimming lessons at the public pool in Dubbo. I never got freestyle down, but I managed to do it well enough to get the certificate.

4. What is the most recent thing you learned how to do from an online tutorial? Make a plushy! It doesn't look quite right so I have to redo it, but close enough...

5. How did you learn most of your social etiquette? Mostly from M telling me off :OP i.e Don't put your elbows on the table, use that knife not that one etc.

The (Other) Friday Five

These questions were written by twinklette on LJ.

1. How many pets have you had at one time? Hmm, we did have a couple of gold fish and Frankie my canary at one point, so that's about it.

2. What is the strangest pet you have ever had? Well, I kind of considered The PLANT as a pet for a bit, LOL. But that's about it.

3. What is the coolest trick you have ever taught a pet? I got nothin'. I used to hold Frankie when Mum cleaned out his cage and he was very well-behaved! :O)

4. Real animals: What animal have you always wanted as a pet? A kind of always wanted a dolphin...although he'd be more a friend, because obviously he'd live in the ocean and I come visit.

5. Imaginary animals: Describe the ideal pet, an animal that doesn't really exist. Ah, hmm...I dunno, I've never really thought about it...maybe a penguin who can live in your house, LOL!

OK, time to hit the hay, gotta keep my sleep up!

10:58pm: Yes and if I don't wake up early enough there won't be time for M and I to finish our game. M's currently winning, but I'm not doing too bad.

However, I did manage - after all my hard work to forget to bring the cupcakes along! Son of a - I was able to buy chocolate muffins which went over well.

So yes, here's to a very short entry and hopefully something more coherent tomorrow.

Happy Birthday to Grandpa! He's 85.

For now, good night!
anonymoose_au: (Arthur-Cartwheel)
11:41pm: Yes! To my surprise Mum and Dad didn't just pop by for a quick visit, they came for dinner and invited the little bro along too!

Fortunately, Mum made the dinner since I certainly didn't have anything prepared, of course the new place wasn't quite up to parental standard, but I got it there eventually...

Also, the older bro called too, for Dad's birthday, although he was quite annoyed because Mum was meant to call him like an hour before he finally called us. He called Mum through Facetime though, so it's not like he was spending a lot of money, but still that must have been annoying for him. Especially since Mum was so busy with the dinner she didn't answer any of his messages asking where she was.

Anyway, the cupcakes tasted delicious, especially with the double cream and sprinkles on top, although I really let the presentation down with not putting patty pans in the tray, half the cupcake was left in the tray when Mum pried them out. Boo. It was a silcone tray, which I've now thrown out because it got cuts in it.

In other news, I can record stuff from catch-up TV apps through my Blu-Ray player to my laptop with the analogue to digital converter! Whoot! I all ready got some figure skating done.

Speaking of which, there was meant to be figure skating on today, which I forgot to record, but it hasn't shown up on SBS on Demand, I hope it does pop up soon...Bit of a worry that.

And now, I have to go so I can get up on time to meet my friend down at the book sale, and possibly go to the Warriewood Shopping Centre beforehand to get a new water cooler thing and an external hard drive.

So now, I say good night!
