10:05pm: So usually I spend Wednesday nights at my parents house because my Lite N Easy weekly order comes to their house on Thursday morning. Except...as I made my way over there today - on the bus because my mother had to borrow my car because one of theirs is at the panel beaters after Dad came off second best with a parking lot pillar (which I didn't remember until I went downstairs to get my car and it wasn't there LOL) Mum let me know that no money came out of her account for the order. Damnit, I must have forgotten to press the last "OK" button when I was doing the order on Monday. At least...I'm pretty sure I did it on Monday...now I seriously can't remember...

Anyway, Mum and Dad had already made me dinner so I continued on my way and had that, Mum and I also watched two of our shows before she dropped me back off at my apartment, since she'll need my car for a bit longer, possibly until next Tuesday. I'll have to take it back Saturday evening though so I can drive to Archery on Sunday - and if their car is still being fixed I'll bring it back afterwards.

In other news, my legs have stopped hurting - yay! But my QL muscle and my thumb are still sore, although a lot less than yesterday thankfully! :O) Really need to do something about the QL muscle though...guess I should be doing my core exercises more, which is obvious, but yeeeah.

Oh yeah, we had our (fortnightly) Collections meeting and the Library Manager who's also our supervisor's supervisor was there to talk about the results of this Council survey we do every two years - although I think I might have forgot to put my answers in, LOL. The results were alright, but it also came up is that our Collections team will need to come in early one day every five weeks to do opening - ie start at 8:30 rather than 9. Gotta say I'm not looking forward to this because I struggle to get there at 9am! Which I really have no excuse for...but I often find the earlier I try to get somewhere, the later I am! I do need to work on that though, so...

Anyway, it's past 10:30 and I'm trying to get to bed at a decent hour so I better wrap this up...but I will do a...

Friday Five

27/10/23

1. Which website do you go to more often than any other? Hmm...these days maybe Reddit, or perhaps Wikipedia... or maybe even the Sydney Morning Herald, it's hard to know with apps these days LOL.

2. Which website have you stopped going to, that you used to go to a lot? Definitely LifeJournal which is really sad, that place used to be where all the action was. Damn trends....

3. What is the weirdest or most unusual website you have bookmarked? For some reason I have an online "DollMaker" bookmarked, I think maybe I used it to make the cartoony version of myself in my default icon. Not sure if it even still works though! (PS. It doesn't...I probably need to clear out my bookmarks...)

4. If you shop online, which online store do you buy from most often? eBay because that's the only one where you've got a chance at decent postage! I don't know what happened with the cost of postage from overseas, but it's ridiculous these days.

5. Which online store do you browse but almost never buy from? Pusheen Shop, she's so cute! But alas, the price of postage makes it pretty much unaffordable, which truly sucks.

And now it's closer to quarter to eleven, so time to haul!

11:08pm: Yes, in contrast to the women's event, which had mostly teenagers, the men's event seems to be full of old folk, including a guy who's 51 years old! Talk about a contrast.

In other Olympic news there's also the Dinghy Final, where guys in tiny boats are trying to get around a course that looks quite confusing. The guy from Hungary just tipped over his whole boat and had to get it upright again, which he managed to do. It's rather exciting because we're in a gold medal position! We just have to finish far enough ahead of the dude from Cyprus. Although as I said it's kinda hard to tell who's in what place when the TV isn't showing it LOL.

Wait, they've just abandoned the race...there's not enough wind D: Well that sucks, although it also answers my question of what happens when there's no wind. How annoying though! We were about to pick up the gold medal. Dang.

Anyway...apart from that not much to report except I need to get my butt to bed since it's coming up on 11:30pm and I've been staying up far too late, last night for example I did stay up to watch the diving, fortunately, it didn't end at 1:30am (or maybe it did with the medal ceremony), but still.

The itchiness continues...a colleague suggested that it might be the winter weather, but I was also itchy in Fiji, so I'm not sure about that. And I've neglected to make an appointment with my doctor about it, I guess I should do that now.

On a final note, the Archery Club got back to me, they're having the next "Come and Try" session on Saturday 17th August, so I plan to attend that.

On that note I shall be off, goodnight all!

11:15pm: So the archery has started at the Olympics, during Tokyo for some strange reason I really got into watching the archery. I think I realised the reason why today, it's one of the only sports where glasses wearers can wear their glasses while competing! A lot of athletes actually do wear glasses, but obviously not while engaged in their sport. I for one feel solidarity with my glasses wearing brethren.

In other news, the Men's Apparatus Finals at the gymnastics, although at the moment there's also the Men's Road Race, and one of the commentators is Phil Liggett - whoo! :OD So I'm kind of flipping between the stream and the Road Race on TV (it's available on a stream as well, but last time I went on there were different commentators, but maybe Phil was just taking a break).

I'm also reminded that I need to make that Doctor's appointment regarding the itching issue, it hit with avenagce this evening and that really sucked. I'm a bit concerned it might have something to do with sausage rolls, because I ate one tonight and the itchiness happened shortly after. I'm pretty sure that was just a co-incidence though.

Anyway, I'll have to make this a short entry because I need to do my Duolingo before midnight, but I finally realised what was wrong with my cupcakes. Well, there were two issues, first of all, I didn't beat the butter and caster sugar properly and secondly...call me a dummy, but I totally didn't realise that baking soda went out of date. The baking soda I had was out of date by about 13 years... Yeah major fail.

So I made a new batch and even broke out my cupcake maker, which turned out to be a good plan because for some reason the ones I put in the oven didn't rise. Very odd.

The only downside, I didn't realise about the baking soda until I already put the old stuff in...I did put the newly purchased stuff in as well - and as said it worked a treat, but I'm a bit concerned because to my palate the cupcakes have an oddly salty aftertaste, although Mum and the people at the retirement village said they tasted delicious, so it could just be me. There's about 11 of them left over (because there were quite a number of cakes at the event), so I'll be taking them into work, so fingers crossed it really is just me.

I also still have the flat as a pancake ones left over, although I used up all the frosting, so I'm considering making another batch of frosting for them. Or I might have to throw them out.

Right, it's past 11:30pm now so if I'm gonna get my Duolingo done I better haul!

10:20pm: Earlier today...but do you think I can remember what is was now? LOL fail.

Oh wait, maybe it was about the GINORMOUS order file I had to upload into our Library Management System? Basically, the library doesn't order any items in May and June because of the end of financial year. I'm not sure if this is what other council's do, but probably. So yeah, for about two months no orders have been made, but finally the selectors got the go ahead so put their lists through.

Which lead to over one thousand titles being ordered! The Library Management System can't take that many in one upload, so I had to split the file. I didn't actually know how many items were on the list - because I'm not gonna count it manually, but I split the file into 100s (which is pretty much the limit of the LMS) and ended up with 11, so yeah more than a thousand.

What was weird though, was previously when we a large order file, it would time out when we tried to upload it, thus alerting us. This time though, no warning at all! I didn't even know it was an issue until one of the selectors messaged me wondering why some of the books she was putting holds on for patrons weren't showing up. Good thing she did, because it would have been a huge pain in the ass to figure it out from emails or whatever.

I'm happy to report that I've arranged to see Inside Out 2 with my friends, not this weekend, but next - this weekend I'm going down to Wollongong on Sunday with the parental units and will catch a train back (more train-ing) Monday morning to get to work in the afternoon. Which is also the day of my Yearly review thing, which I think I've got done, mostly. Fingers crossed it won't suck, those things are always a pain in the ass, basically it's checking to see if you're doing your job...the answer to which is...yes I am, except when I've got to screw around typing into the system about how I'm doing my job. LOL.

I'm hoping I can get some writing done this weekend, we'll be 2 weeks into July and I've done a grand total of zero fics for McFly July! Tsk! The fics don't need to be super long or anything and I think I've got a few ideas for the prompts, so bring it on.

It's past 10:30pm now, so I better get a move on, I want to do some stuff tomorrow morning so I don't want to oversleep.

Before that though...

The Friday Five

12/7/24

1. Are you good at fixing things? Hmmm...not sure to be honest, probably not, although I AM going to try and darn my favourite jumper, so I guess we'll see!

2. What kinds of things can you fix?

See above.

3. Is there anyone in your family who is good at fixing things?

Grandpa is, although at 93 he doesn't fix as much stuff as he used to, although he did fix the toilet lid at my parent's house a few months back and last year he was fixing the compost thing at his unit in the retirement village, not sure if he did end up fixing it, but he probably did.

4. Has anyone ever taught you how to fix things?

Nah, or if they offered I didn't take up the offer, probably a poor idea in retrospect.

5. What was the last thing that broke in your home?

The soap dish in my shower, it just fell off the pipe! I tried to put it back on, even waiting for the shower to cool down because I thought maybe that's why it wasn't going back on. But nope, when I tried again the thing broke! This spurred me to finally buy a new shower holder thingy though, it looks quite nice, although that does mean I needed to take off the shower holder that has a dolphin shape in it. That was kind of broken too though, so...

Although I'm reminded of one last thing, because of the headache yesterday, I went to bed on time for once and would you believe it? I missed an interview with Phil Ligget (aka "The Voice of Cycling"). Boo-urns what are the chances?

Mum recorded it though, so hopefully I'll get a chance to see it.

But for now, I'm off!

8:50pm: So I had another sick day today, the good news is my throat has stopped hurting (praise the Lord!), although my nose is running and/or stuffed up as Hell, it makes it hard to breathe.

In regards to my title, well I discovered that apparently if you take more than 2 days off you need a doctor's certificate, I thought you needed one after three days.

This is a bitch though because it means if I want to take tomorrow off, I need to go to the doctor, which is pretty dumb, because I know I have a cold and those generally take three days to clear up if not four. So now I'm supposed to go to a doctor's office, sit in the waiting room possibly infecting others all so I can get a note that says I have cold? Like WTF? That seems really backwards...

Now apparently you can get a certificate from a pharmacist, but obviously that's not quite the same thing as a doctor's certificate. I suppose I should clarify with my boss about that.

But yeah... I'm thinking I'll have to take a sick day tomorrow, if for not other reason then one of my work colleagues is immuno-compromised and I certainly wouldn't want to get her sick, that would be shitty of me.

I swear though, it's three days not two...but I have no way to confirm that, so I have to go with what my boss currently says. Annoying.

Also, I could have sworn I heard a few weeks back they were going to make changes to sick leave where you DIDN'T need a doctor's certificate because hey it's your sick leave and with COVID and all the idea of going to a doctor to tell you what you already know is a waste of time at best and a possible spreading event at worst. Grumble, grumble.

Also of annoyance, my ears are blocked, makes it hard to hear TV shows and my mother - I'm over at my parent's place because my Lite n Easy meals get delivered here Thursday morning, she also wanted to see the clothes I'll be taking on our Fiji trip, plus she came over to pick me up today since she borrowed my car the other day (one of my parents' cars had to go to the mechanics). This was also so we could talk to the financial advisor on the phone (my mortgage's are coming off their fixed rates so we might re-finance), this also means that my apartment got cleaned up, it was seriously due for it, so phew.

Plus we also get to watch our shows together, or maybe not...since apparently Mum watched them because they were online and the TV antenna at their place is being an ass. Hmpf, guess I should have watched them myself :OP although at least we got to watch the first 10 minutes.

Now we're watching Le Tour De France, gotta love Le Tour.

Anyway, I guess I should wrap this up because I have to blow my nose.

10:18am: So I've got a cold (well, at least I hope it's a cold, the COVID RAT aka home test I took yesterday when I started getting a sore throat and stuffy nose was negative).

I'm feeling pretty ick so I took the day off work, which I figured would work out well because I have a doctor's appointment today (regarding the digestive issues) or rather I HAD one. Turns out my doc can't come in today, so it's been pushed to tomorrow.

Bugger.

I wonder if I should take a half day tomorrow morning because the appointment is at 11:15 or just take a long lunch. I guess it'll depend if my cold is better or worse, and then there's the question of whether in these times you should go to work with a cold at all. TBH, I have no concerns about taking time off because I've got quite a lot of sick leave, it's more that as a person who lives alone, work is my only source of social contact. I'm not a social butterfly by any means, but if I had to take a week off without seeing any other humans I'd get sad.

What does suck, is that due to various health and body issues I haven't gone to the gym in three weeks! I enjoy going to the gym, but I'm a bit of a wuss so generally if I feel kinda gross or if it's that time o' the month I'm not inclined to drag my butt to the gym to work out. Plus the principle of paying membership and not actually using it.

In other news, I'm out of carrots...damn...I may have to drag my butt over to the supermarket to buy some, I have a baby carrot or two a day and it'd suck not to get my daily intake.

I also have to wash my masks because I forgot to do that yesterday.

What else to report...well, thanks to a Tumblr inspired fandom challenge - McFly July, I've managed to get back into the swing of fanfic again. Yay!

To be honest I'm not sure if anyone (who hasn't already read it) would be interested, but if you are you can check it out here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/40341489/chapters/101052129

Back It Up

Jun. 21st, 2022 11:04 pm

10:06pm: Well, I have learnt a very important lesson...always back your stuff up! The computer shop got back to me today and no dice :O( I'm going to have to either let it go or call up this Data Recovery Company they recommended to me.

I guess it won't hurt to call them up and see what prognosis they can give...seriously though. I can't believe this happened just as I planned to back it up. Like I had that hard drive in my house for like 3 months and it was working OK. What an ASS.

In other news, I'm thinking of getting a new laptop for Sims 3 related purposes since I'm not sure the little HP is up to the task, I've found a rather well priced one, but of course now I'm not so sure. Do I really need two laptops? Seems a bit excessive. Perhaps I should try it first - although the end of the financial year and therefore the sales are ending in just 9 days, so I should probably get a wriggle on if that's my plan.

Hmm, I thought I had something else to mention...but checking my last entry - LOL, my memory is kinda shit these days - I already mentioned it! The new printer and my plan to do something creative.

And...now I've sat here so long getting distracted that it's 11pm and I have to get myself to bed!

Keep your fingers crossed that the news about my hard drive is good.

10:06pm: Well sort of...it's more the Council, but alas my contract as Collections Librarian ended on Thursday. The good news is, I have the Collections Assistant position and thus I still have a job.

The bad news is, it's less money and hours, so I'll have to be careful budget wise and hope for lots of extra desk shifts.

Meanwhile, I'll hopefully be able to enrol in a Basic Cataloguing course which will help when the Collections Librarian job is actually advertised, since that's something I should be able to do in that job (I have had some practice doing copy-cataloguing though.

Anywho, just wanted to let you all know I'm still alive and give a quick update. With any luck I'll actually do some more updating, but... Who knows :OP

For now though, goodnight!
anonymoose_au: (Plushy Goes Eeeee!)
11:04pm: Hmm, I wonder if I've ever used that subject heading before...I'm sure I must have LOL!

Anywho, when I last updated a couple of weeks back I was supposed to let you know about my interview and how it went. But then it got suuuuper busy at work and I never got around to it (story of my life these days), but I able to report I have no idea how I present myself at interviews. Because afterwards I met Mum in the Council area and was certain I'd bombed it! I was so nervous despite knowing both people very well (one of them is my current supervisor) and the feeling that I'd been talking a mile a minute and making no sense whatsoever.

As it turns out, at least for the two people who interviewed me I came off very well (which makes me scratch my head!) and last week my supervisor asked about contacting my references. Which was kind of weird because one of them is the other person in the interview! Obviously, they didn't contact that person though.

So, as it stands it looks like I might have the job - although I don't know yet, of course, which is good on one hand, but on the other...it's less hours and less money - although I'd be able to do more desks shifts around it so it might balance out. I still kinda wish I could stay in the Collections Librarian role though! We'll have to see...still no sign of any cataloguing courses I can do, grumble grumble.

However, in what could be an omen I have lost the old school librarian badge that my friend bought for me all those years ago. Which I'm very bummed about, because even if I buy another one to replace it, it won't be the same obviously. :O( I probably shouldn't have worn it to work on interview day - I took it off before I went into the interview (since it was for a Assistant position) an thought I put it safely in my wallet, but...famous last words right there. I've looked all over the apartment and inside my various bags, but no luck, so unless it fell out of wallet at church it probably is gone forever.

I also seem to have lost my purple sunglasses, which I'm also very annoyed about, I definitely had them on Tuesday...but I haven't seen them since then. I can only assume I left them on the bus? Argh, why do I suck at keeping hold of my things?

And lastly - since it's getting late and I need to do my Russian before midnight, I went ice skating today, I was meant to get there at about 11:30 because there was a special $10 session in celebration for the saving of the rink. Unfortunately, in typical Moose-style I managed to miscalculate my timings and ended up getting only 35 minutes of skating time in - which means I didn't really save much. Bah! Oh well, at least I was there to support the rink. Also I saw a lady there with rainbow blades, wow, what will they think of next?!

Right best be off now, hope you're all well out there! :O)

Oh! And I also did some more "train"ing, so I'm pleased about that...although the suburb I got off at didn't have anything interesting in it in terms of shops, plus I had my skatebag which was heavy... Perhaps I shouldn't bus it most of the way, but the traffic can be such a crapshoot...

But yes, must be off now!

11:35pm: Yes, indeed. For today I had not only an appointment with my psychiatrist, but an afternoon meeting at work, which I got paid for and also had to take minutes for.

I also helped out my supervisor by picking up some polo shirts for our couriers from the Council building near my apartment.

But! I got everything done, despite some rather poor time management which had me almost running late to the psychiatrist, what really pissed me off though was I had to pay for my parking because I could find a free spot, but what should I see as hurried to the building where my doctor is? Someone leaving! Damnit! That happened last time too! I'd planned to avoid the parking situation by taking public transport, but yeah...crappy time management strikes again.

On the plus side, at least I was able to report to him that my "train"ing (ie exposure therapy regarding the trains) is going pretty well - although I'm not sure I'll be able to get any in this weekend because Dad's having his birthday celebration tomorrow, so I'll be doing that instead of skating. What can you do though?

Anywho, I have considered changing my psychiatrist for no other reason than driving all the way over to his office is stressful, but as he pointed out, you can't avoid everything stressful, and I'm sort of turning into a Northern Beaches hermit LOL. So there you go.

Everything else went pretty well today, although I have been a bit nervous at work since yesterday, where three people were out with illness. Well one of them didn't actually come in, while one left pretty much as soon as they arrived, and another left just after lunch, both of them looked rather nauseous, which with my emetophobia gave me all sort of concerns that there's a gastro bug going around or something. I did feel a bit dizzy today, but that's probably nerves and also the fact that it's going to be that time o' the month soon (it's due, but hasn't shown up as yet, although I keep worrying that it is - that feeling is such an ass!).

Anyway I took the minutes although I haven't typed them up yet, that'll have to wait until Monday.

On a final note, since it's heading for midnight - I've got an interview next Thursday for the Collections Assistant position. Still no word on when the job I'm actually doing will be advertised, but one steop at a time and all that!

I'll keep you updated!

10:42pm: Well, once again the library jobs I've applied for have gone external! I'm starting to think they're just trying to avoid hiring me! :OP Which I know isn't true, but it's really annoying all the same. Seriously, what ever happened to promotions?

I also didn't get the Library Assistant job that I interviewed for way back at the beginning of this month. Grumble, grumble.

In other news, I was quite embarrassed when I was looking at the CruiseTracker webpage and discovered...Mum and Dad's cruise is been tracked! Turns out you just had to press the 'X' up in the corner and reset the thing, that was not made clear so no wonder I missed it LOL! I guess if I actually downloaded the app on my mobile it'd be more user friendly. Hopefully my big bro didn't have the same problem I did so he was able to keep track and show his kids on the map.

Moving on, I'm concerned about my budget, I keep having to withdraw money from my savings for the Stamp Duty. I'm most concerned about this...especially if Mrs S decides to cut back my hours drastically when she gets back. Although, it does look like I'm going to get some casual shifts in the Home Library Service at Dee Why Library, so maybe my volunteering has helped me out a bit!

Apart from that, not much else to report although I'm getting a lot of reading done, which is good news, although my creative writing input seems to have gone right down the toilet. Boooo. I'm not sure what to do about that, I guess you can't force the muse. :OP

11:52pm: Right, OK, I have quite a few things to report, but nowhere near enough time to write about it...

First thing's first, I got myself an adorable little two-in-one tablet laptop at JB Hi-Fi yesterday! It was the last one so I got it at a discount, yeeess! However, it asked me to update tonight, which I tried to do only to have the thing throw a complete fit and now I've had to to reset it. Boooo! Not taht I had anything important on it but what a pain in the ass. I think I'll try upgrading it to Windows 10 next time, if possible. Windows 8 is notoriously crap if I remember right.

But OMG, I need to get back into my fic but I keep allowing myself to get distracted! Coe on get with the program me.

On a final note before I have to get my butt to bed and explanation for the subject title...I meant to turn the stove off earlier on, but instead I turned it up or at least not off completely. With it being winter and all I keep the door to the bedroom/living area closed so I didn't realise until my fire alarm went off and opened the kitchen door to find it FILLED with smoke! There wasn't a fire or anything, but my sausages were ruined and I had to open the doors and windows to clear it.

So yeah...massive fail there.

Right so I'm off to bed, at least I can say that I sped-read the latest chapter of the fanfic that's holding the Yuri on Ice fandom in it's thrall. So I can sleep easy. :OP

11:25pm: Damnit, despite having cleaned the kitchen sink and whatnot any time I leave something out that's not completely rinsed and cleaned off a hoard of motherfucking ants invades! Now I guess this just means I should clean everything up, but I did rinse it pretty well...and my dishwasher was full so I couldn't put the saucepan in there.

Also, I'm most annoyed by the fact my ant baits don't seem to be working. Although...maybe they've just run out of...er...poison stuff, I think they only last for three months and I've had them for longer than that. Or maybe I should try and get the spray...

Except, I haven't got my card yet, so right now I only have fifteen bucks or so to my name at least until the bank card arrives or I go to the bank to withdraw cash. Except, I don't think I'd be able to get to said bank, it is open on Saturdays' but I'm pretty sure if closes before I finish work.

Anyway, I'm sure you don't really care about ants...but I don't have much more to say...except I made a bit of a mistake today when I was doing the laundry - I forgot about my car key in my pocket so it went through the machine! No wonder there was so much noise! I think the key has survived, the little light on it still goes off when I press the buttons. Also, I have just remembered that unlike my mother's car key I can still use this one like an actual key so even if it is dead or the battery is screwed up I can still get in my car to drive to work tomorrow!

Speaking of which, I've totally stayed up too late this week which is really no good for me, so I should actually get to bed at a reasonable hour tonight! And this time I still have to finish up on my Russian before I turn in! So...

11:48pm: My air-con is letting me down again, which really sucks, because it's the only thing I've got in here...I really should have got that bedside table fan, because I'm sweating and feeling thirsty and generally uncomfortable. Plus I can hardly concentrate on this entry!

I'll make it brief, work went well although it ended up getting very busy and then the printer decided not to work, or rather the computer's wouldn't communicate with it properly, which was a problem last weekend which I thought they fixed. Grumble, grumble, well at least the tech person will be in tomorrow, so fingers crossed she can solve it.

Also people were very slow to get out at closing time, good thing I'd set my recorder to record the skating on SBS! However, I didn't hurry home to watch it, instead I took my pyschiatrist's advice and headed for Macquarie and ice skating. Or rather to the Skater's Network, which is where I get my skates sharpened. As it happened, my skates did not need to be sharpened, which rather sucked because it was quite a drive! I ended up buying some new laces for my skates to make it worth my while.

Then it was back to Macquarie to buy new towels for Mrs S (somehow some bleach got on the one's she had, from me...but I have no idea how, because it seems amazing I managed not to get any bleach on myself, a minor miracle in fact!) and then skating time!

I discovered something quite interesting...it would appear that I'm a clockwise spinner, that is I find it far more natural to move in that direction. However most skaters are anti-clockwise spinners, so that's pretty hilarious. Typical me, I'm sure. :OP

Not that I can spin a lot, of course, but I can do one revolution, which is how I figured this out...and it sure does explain why I couldn't figure out to do the turning to change direction thing. Although...I'm sure I remember learning to do it both ways?

Ah well, anyway, very interesting!

And now, it's almost midnight so I gotta go, bed calls.

11:47pm: I refer to the Spit Bridge, which opens a few times per day to let boats go through from one part of the harbour to the other. Thing is, I'd forgot what time it opens and it turned out that 11:15am was one of them, which meant...I got stuck waiting as I tried to get to the pyschiatrist's office for the 11:30 appointment.

Suffice to say I was late, booo, which kind of put an end to thoughts of catching the last of the lunchtime ice skating session.

Speaking of ice skating, I got a reply from the cruise line, who told me they did not recommend taking my own skates on board because blades longer that four inches are not allowed on board. I mentioned this to my pyschiatrist, who encouraged me to write back mentioning how even though there's complimentary hire skates available, if you've got your own pair its much easier to use them and the email didn't straight out say it was forbidden only not recommended. He spoke about the need for assertiveness, and I have to admit I am rather a push-over, which makes me wonder...maybe that's why I'm not getting jobs, I'm not expressing enough confidence.

Speaking of jobs though...I got an unexpected phone call today, they're doing interviews for the Inter-Library Loan Officer's position and I have an interview next Tuesday! How exciting! Fingers and toes crossed everyone!

I also had to make an unexpected trip to the doctor because my referral for the psychiatrist had ended, and without one I don't get any money back from Medicare, that was a bit of a pain but I did make some purchases including a purple shirt! It's pretty much the same colour as the one I made! It has weird sleeve though, I'm not entirely sure how to work them out to be honest...hope I can though. Although I did tell myself I'd make my own purple shirt... I wasn't going to buy it, but I needed to spend an extra two bucks to use eftpos at Lifeline and I'd found some pinstriped pants that were $6 and this milk jug in the shape of chicken for $2.

However, I kind of made a mistake with the pinstripe pants...they're size 16! For some reason I thought they were size 8s and perhaps the reason they were in a second hand shop was because they were mislabled. But nope, so suffice to say they're a bit too big. Whoops. Ah well, I guess I could just give them away, it's only 2 bucks loss.

Right, better haul butt now, it's almost midnight and this Moose needs sleep!

11:40pm: Yes indeed! And I was planning to upload some of the photos I took, but I got caught up watching Roger Federer kick the butt of Tomas Berdych in the Aussie Open and now my laptop's touchpad has decided to act weird on me, so even though I've downloaded the photos I can't resize them, which really needs to be done because they're super huge.

Anyway! Good news! Despite the fact it was kind of rainy today Mum, Dad and I were still able to go to Cockington Green, and although Mum decided not to go in with us Dad and I had a great time in there! I haven't been there since I was like 3 or 4 years old and since that time they've added a whole new section of International minature models of things like Manchu Pichu and Petra. I got quite a few photos as did Dad although he needs to send those to me.

After Cockington Green we continued onwards to Aunt Chris and Uncle Lawrie's place where they were taking care of a number of their grandkids (and step-grandkids), but they have a big house so it wasn't too crowded or anything. We had lunch which was a BBQ, which was very delicious although I was sad to see that the salad contained no iceberg lettuce! It seems when Auntie Chris bought some pre-cut lettuce at the supermarket it didn't include it - uncool lettuce people, uncool.

Then it was on the road to Sydney once more, and it looked like the rain was going to follow us, but fortunately it let up and once we got into Sydney the traffic wasn't too awful except for a brief bit on the M5 - which I think is known as the shittiest road in the city.

Anyway, I best wrap this up since like I said my mouse is being an ass.

Hopefully I'll have more details for you tomorrow.

Goodnight all!

11:16pm: So I remembered to call up Officeworks when I got home from work and discovered that yes, my order was received and paid for it's just that stock isn't coming in until Monday a week from now. Which means I won't get my new phone in time for my birthday. Aww. Hopefully though I'll get it before I go away with Mum and Dad to Canberra, although I won't be able to use my data probably, it doesn't extend to rural areas, or at least not the last time I was out of the city.

Tonight I also took down most of my Christmas decorations, although I'm keeping my Santa Ball up for another night because I do love him, he's so cute. It's a shame to have to put him away, but I guess them's the brakes.

So I got through my rather busy day all right, although I was rather embarrassed when having gone to Aldi and purchased a few things after I finished at Mrs S's I had to go right back in because I'd forgot to get more margarine! Which was pretty much the reason I'd gone there in the first place! Then I was almost late to work because I got distracted untangling my Christmas-tree shaped lights - which I manged to tangle after holding them for like three seconds! I'm pleased to report I managed to untangle them.

I am sleepy though! And arrrrgh, still behind on Memes! OMG, will I ever catch up? I guess that will remain a mystery....

Also, I've received some SMS replies from my friends about getting together for my birthday, but alas both of them are busy not only on the actual day (which is a Tuesday so I'm not too surprised about that) but that weekend too! Aw man, what if no-one can do anything? I'll have to celebrate just with my family. I guess when Ben gets back things can be done. Of course, there's a few other friends who haven't replied yet, so perhaps something will go down.

Although that reminds me, I need to RSVP Grandpa for the Australia Day get-together...

Okedoke! I better wrap this up and hit the sheets, once again I'm gonna miss Fed-Ex doing Mixed Doubles, dang time zones.

Oh well, I've got the ice skating on SBS to look forward to tomorrow as well as library work, so yaaay!

For now, goodnight!

11:19pm: In this case my first world problem is having to get up to stop and then start the recordings I've made on my DVD/HDD Recorder. I managed to forget how to pause it to take out adds so for the longest time I just kept them in there, but obviously I don't want them in when I'm recording them using my laptop's TV recorder. Hence the getting up all the time, it's super annoying.

Oh well, at least my foot feels better, because otherwise it would really suck having to do that.

Right now I'm recording a documentary on 9/11, which is a topic I tend to avoid because it's a distressing thing and it's so sad to think of all the poor people involved.

Moving on, it was a busy day today, what with Mrs S in the morning and the library in the afternoon, I do wonder if I've become to used to not working 7.5 hours a day because I was pretty bushed by the end of it all!

And I've got work tomorrow morning as well! :OP Which means I've once again managed to leave updating this journal entry way too late and thus have no time for Memes! Booo!

I do have some good news, while I was at Mrs S's this morning I discovered to my dismay my ice skate charm was no longer on my necklace chain! I'd taken my chain off to go swimming, but I had definitely had it when I put it back on afterwards. So I could imagine where it could have gone.

Then I remembered that last night I'd been in the bathroom when I heard the sound of something hitting the tiles, at first I thought it was my Up fitness tracker, but it must have been my charm! Sure enough when I got home and looked I discovered it on the floor. Phew!

Oddly enough I didn't see how it had fallen off...because the little loop part was closed...maybe it had been open and I stepped on it this morning. I'll have to keep a close eye on it.

Okedoke, now I gotta wrap this up and hit the hay!

Goodnight all!

11:30pm: Yes indeed! And my big bro, sister-in-law and little niece have headed off back to Japan. Ah, it's been good having them here, although it's not like I saw them all the time, but it was fun while I could. In fact, just yesterday I had the experience of holding a baby, which I haven't done before, because as I've mentioned before perhaps, I don't really want to hold a baby because they seem way too squishy and the thought kind of freaks me out. However, yesterday my big bro was trying to show me how to do something on his i-Pad and I didn't do it right so he was like "Hold the kid, I'll fix it."

So, I got to hold a 10 month old, who fortunately wasn't too squishy, although she was heavier than I expected :OP. Suffice to say though, I don't have much of a maternal instinct, so I didn't end up all "coo-ey" and what not. I'm just happy to report my niece didn't poke me in the eye, LOL!

So, today was another day off from work at the library for me, yay! However, I realised this evening while checking my shifts that I've put my hand up for not just Tuesday and Thursday this week, but Wednesday and Friday too! Which normally wouldn't be an issue, but though my foot is feeling a lot better (even after all the walking yesterday) I'm a little concerned that this might lead to a flare-up. There's not much I can do about that, though...except not wear those enclosed sandals I bought since I'm not entirely sure they've got proper arch support. Here's hoping the anti-prespirant I got for my feet will hold up with the other shoes.

Anywho, the point about having the day off is that I went and saw my friend who wasn't able to come to the New Year's Eve fireworks today, we watched some John Oliver and Galaxy Quest as well as having lunch with her parents. It was fun! :O)

I also made the cupcakes for Mrs S's husband's birthday tomorrow, although I need to finish the frosting before I go to bed, good thing I can get up a bit later in the morning because of the public holiday (which means I only do two hours instead of four) since I won't finish by midnight!

I did make an unfortunate discovery when I came home from the parentals before heading off to my friend's place, I'd left the fridge ajar! Which meant my butter was soft for the cake, but there was no way the milk I just bought on Friday was salavagable. What's really annoying is that I came back to the Granny Flat to collect a number of things before leaving on Saturday and at no point did I notice the fridge door wasn't closed properly. Man, I hope the landlord's power bill won't be horrifying.

Right! I better be off, though I was hoping to get back into the swing of things re: memes, but once again time calls me away.

Goodnight all!
