10:56pm: Indeed! The free skate of the Junior Women's program at the Junior GP is about to head into the last group - aka when the medals get decided, but alas there's an ice resurfacing, which takes about 15 minutes and tomorrow is Archery day so I need to head to bed. Which I should have done last night with the pairs, but I didn't and ended up staying up until near 1:30am! And I had to get early enough to take the cupcakes to the Get Together at my parents' retirement village.

I did manage to do that though! And good news... the cupcakes were much loved and there were none left over! Which is also bad news, because that means I don't have any left over to enjoy myself. Actually that's not true, I did in fact have two left over, but I ate those yesterday. That'll learn me :OP

Anyway, Mum wasn't at the Get together as she was somewhere else, so I decided to stick around, I probably should have helped hand food out, but they had a new jigsaw puzzle ready to go and I couldn't help myself! It's a photo of the Sydney Opera House and Circular Quay, I got all the corner pieces together and also did most of the Opera House, which is kind of the easiest part, LOL. I wonder how it'll go, I might need to ask Mum to go check on it for me.

After the Get Together I went to Mum and Dad's to drop off the book Mum asked me to borrow for her and then headed back here to the apartment. I briefly considered going out to ice skate, but I was feeling lazy so I didn't :OP instead I sat on my butt and watched James Turner's Bigwallet 24 hour stream which is currently on Day 8 (it'll take 19 to get through the whole series!), read and did some more cross stitch. I actually tried to film the latter like when I did my jigsaw puzzles and posted them on Insta, but it didn't work so well. Ah well.

So yes, tomorrow is my third archery lesson and then I go up to the church my parents and I usually go to on Saturday evening for the 50th Anniversary Mass - it starts at 11am which is when the archery lesson ends, so I'm not sure if I should hurry to get there or not. There won't be any other masses I can go to - unless I go down to Narrabeen (a few suburbs away), so if I miss that one that's it. They're having a party afterwards though, so that's why I'm going. I guess we'll see what goes down.

Time is getting on, but before I head off...

Friday Five

13/10/23

1. Are you superstitious? Not really...although on the other hand I do say "Knock on wood" a lot, so maybe I secretly am!

2. Which superstitions do you believe in and act on? Well, I certainly don't like it whenever someone opens an umbrella inside! But that might have more to do with possibly getting a spoke to the eye. That's about it though.

3. What superstition does someone close to you believe in and act on? Um...hmmm, not sure to be honest, my mother is super against Ouji Boards and horoscopes. But since she's not a teenage girl in a horror movie she doesn't really need to worry about being exposed to the former and with the latter she just doesn't read them!

4. Do you take any extra precautions on Friday the 13th? Nah, but I do announce to everyone that it's "Friday the 13th" though! XD

5. Do you secretly judge superstitious people? Nah, but having said that I don't think I actually know anyone who's superstitious, or if I do they're not really in my face about it, LOL.

Righto, on that note, I shall be off!

Wish me luck!

11:25pm: I was planning on getting a McFly July (August...er September) drabble up today, but I left it a little too late to start writing it and now it's coming up on 11:30 and I have to get myself to bed very shortly. I blame this rather large biography on JFK (yeah, I don't know why either XD) which I'm only reading when I'm at home because the book's too dang big to carry around, LOL. So I was reading that when I should have been writing.

So yeah whoops.

Not whoops though, is today was my second archery lesson and I'm very excited to report that the eye patch did its job marvellously! Last week I was missing the entire target a third or even more of the time. Today it was way, way less. Woohoo! Although, I'm still the most unco-ordinated archer of the group, but as the lady coaching the "Come and Try" session a few weeks back said, it's not how you go against the others, it's how you go against yourself. And yeah compared to last week, Moose is kicking ass and taking names.

After archery, I went to Mum and Dad's house for Father's Day, where we were later joined by my little bro and Grandpa for lunch. It was steak, potato salad made by my little bro and regular salad made by Dad - although I added carrot to it and it was most delicious indeed. There was even desert - Dad bough ice cream :OD.

Oh and I finished the Father's Day card, so go me. :OP

It was a bit of an interesting meal because the little bro asked how Grandpa was getting along, and Grandpa gave a very explanation of what he's up to regarding the paying of fees to the retirement village he lives at. It's quite a involved thing and he and a group of people at the retirement village are taking the owners to a tribunal because they're pretty sure they've been paying fees that they should have had to.

He got rather passionate about it, which nonpulussed Dad since he's not one for passionate discussions at the dinner table. But we mostly had fun. :O)

Once I got home I was supposed to do more tidying of my house, but instead I pottered around then watched Paralympic archery and now I'm watching the Boulder and Lead Final in Sports Climbing, although as said I have to head off to bed so I'll be turning that off soon. Which is a shame, because it's rather interesting!

But work calls tomorrow, so sleep does too.

I hope to have the drabble up tomorrow though, but don't hold me to that :OP

Goodnight!

10:45pm: When it comes to reading or writing fic, which isn't all that surprising...but seeing as I've had this Terry Pratchett book out for almost two months I figured I better finish that rather than write on the BTTF prompts. Sure am dragging McFly July out though, LOL.

But I finished The Wyrd Sister, which was an enjoyable read indeed, Terry Pratchett has a very amusing way with words XD

I wasn't reading the whole day though, I actually spent most of the day watching James Turner's Cities Skylines Let's Play, I'm onto the last part of the Industries expansion and we're touring his city. It so fun! And somewhat inspired by this I opened up my Hill Valley and got around to putting in Peabody's farm. I'm not quite sure what to make of the huge highways that are between it and the actual Hill Valley...I wonder, maybe the highway turns into a regular road. Hmmm...do highways in the US do that?

Speaking of computer games, I really should do something with my Woodstone Sims, I've kinda left those poor ghosts in limbo, LOL. Although the new season is starting on 17th October, so I'll probably have some great inspiration.

Well, it's coming up to 11pm and although I have a physio appointment tomorrow which isn't until 9:30am I still need to get to bed at a decent hour. I wonder if my left shoulder will still be sore tomorrow, I assume it's from the archery so it might go away, which would be good. I'm somewhat intrigued that it's my left shoulder, since that was the one I held the bow with, not my right which pulled back the arrow. On the other hand, you do push the bow out while you pull the string back, so... I should probably do some exercises to strengthen those muscles up.

Anyway before I head off, I'll do the Friday Five, although I've gone back a few weeks to last Novemeber's ones because the December ones are all Christmas themed.

Friday Five

24/11/23

1. What did you eat on Thursday? Hmm, well I had cheese on toast for breakfast, a Lite n Easy chicken salad wrap for lunch and...I don't think I had anything for dinner. However I did eat a number of snacks throughout the day which was not the best move. Damn you sugar, why are you so tasty! :OP

2. How many miles (kilometers) did you drive on Thursday?

I drove from my parents place back to my house after spending the night, I think it's about 4.5 kms? Don't quote me on that that.

3. How many relatives did you see on Thursday? I saw my parental units in the morning - although the reason for this question was Thanksgiving related, which we don't have in Australia.

4. What did you wear on Thursday? I do Animal Print Thursdays, so I wore my leopard print blouse with a black t-shirt underneath, my black work pants and my old lady comfortable shoes (I no longer suffer toe pain, yay! :OP).

5. Are you planning to buy anything in particular on Friday? Nope...although you never know what might take my fancy, LOL!

Righto, it's past 11:25pm now, so I better be off, I had spaghetti tonight and made lasagna with the leftovers sauce so I need to put the lasagna dish in the fridge before I got to bed.

Goodnight all!

7:26pm: Yes, I went back to the gym this evening although I only did the recumbent bike and my stretches, just to ease back into it :OP I'm feeling much better though, hooray! Although my nose is still snifflely, I think that might just be from the cold weather. I tell you, it's chillier than normal this year. I'm watching the news right now - the weather is on - and apparently it was warmer than usual today, but then I didn't go out during lunch because it's school holidays at the moment and that always makes the Mall a bit of a madhouse. I'm also trying to finish the Terry Pratchett book I've been reading, I was going quite well, but unfortunately, I forgot to bring the book home last Monday, and then I didn't go to work for the rest of the week... then I forgot it again yesterday! But I have it now and I'm getting to the end so I should get to reading that.

I do need to hang up my masks though, I just washed them - yeah I still wear masks, I've kind of got used to it, and despite having just had a cold I think it's been helpful in reducing general illness. Knock on wood I think this is the first cold I've had this year? But yeah fingers and toes crossed I haven't jinxed it :OP

Apart from this not much else to report - a familiar lament of mine, however, I must make sure to contact my friends to see if anyone wants to go see Inside Out 2 - did I mention this before? LOL I can't remember and I'm too lazy to go look now. I'm not sure what to do if no-one wants to come, I guess I could ask Mum? Although that's kind of lame, LOL. One of her friends - the one I went up to Cairns with did offer to come, but I dunno.

Hmmm...did I have something else to say? Nah, I should probably try and do some McFly July fics, since the more time I wait the more I have to catch up on! Although I do want to play Cities Skylines, I restarted my Hill Valley, for no particular reason, except maybe to make it look a bit better, the one I was working on before now has sprawled out and has rather tall buildings and just generally not looking quite right.

I'm also making quite a lot of progress with my Pusheen ice skating cross stitch, I'm still trying to decide if I should cross stitch in the snow, I suppose I should, but it kinda seems like a waste because it's not like you can see the white thread unless you're looking really closely. But...we shall see!

I suppose I should stop writing about this stuff and start doing it, LOL.

Before that - catching up on the...

Friday Five

30/5/24

1. What are three things you refuse to live without?

1. Cheese (I tried to give it up once...nothing doin'!)
2. Reading
3. Hmm, my first thought was the internet, but I dunno...was life that bad without it? :OP Instead I'll say writing!

2. What are your three favorite items of clothing?

1. My emerald green coat - the lining which is polka dot fabric is fraying alas - but I still love wearing it :O)
2. My Pusheen yellow jumper (sweater), it has a sort of...embossed image of Pusheen baking on it, it's super cute!
3. This nice flower print dress I have, hmm maybe I should take that along to Fiji along with my white dress.

3. What are your three favorite books?

Ooo tough one this...the first three that come to mind:

The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13 3/4 by Sue Townsend (I have to pick a specific one from the series)
The Hating Game by Sally Thorne (Yeah, it's a romance, wanna fight about it :OP)
The Mysterious Affair at Styles by Agatha Christie

4. What are three things you'd grab if you had to evacuate your house quickly?

My glasses (I need them to see!)
My laptop
Whatever Pusheen merch I could get my hands on (alas I no longer have a pet fish, so I don't have to worry about that)

5. What are your three favorite songs or musical works?

Grease
the movie
Summer Sunshine by the Corrs
Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush

Oh yeah, I just remembered what I was going to write about, I had to go on the desk for three hours today! Fortunately, not in a row, as a Collections Assistant this is quite unusual, although I was away all last week and a lot of fellow staff are on leave. I did survive though! Partly because a colleague offered to switch a shift so I didn't have to stand for two hours straight. Also the person who does the roster was kind enough to take me off the shift I had tomorrow, which is also Inter Library Loan day, so huzzah!

Ta-ta for now!

10:42pm: Well, once again the library jobs I've applied for have gone external! I'm starting to think they're just trying to avoid hiring me! :OP Which I know isn't true, but it's really annoying all the same. Seriously, what ever happened to promotions?

I also didn't get the Library Assistant job that I interviewed for way back at the beginning of this month. Grumble, grumble.

In other news, I was quite embarrassed when I was looking at the CruiseTracker webpage and discovered...Mum and Dad's cruise is been tracked! Turns out you just had to press the 'X' up in the corner and reset the thing, that was not made clear so no wonder I missed it LOL! I guess if I actually downloaded the app on my mobile it'd be more user friendly. Hopefully my big bro didn't have the same problem I did so he was able to keep track and show his kids on the map.

Moving on, I'm concerned about my budget, I keep having to withdraw money from my savings for the Stamp Duty. I'm most concerned about this...especially if Mrs S decides to cut back my hours drastically when she gets back. Although, it does look like I'm going to get some casual shifts in the Home Library Service at Dee Why Library, so maybe my volunteering has helped me out a bit!

Apart from that, not much else to report although I'm getting a lot of reading done, which is good news, although my creative writing input seems to have gone right down the toilet. Boooo. I'm not sure what to do about that, I guess you can't force the muse. :OP

Anywho, on that note I shall be off, I need to get ready for bed, work calls tomorrow and all that.

Goodnight all!

11:23pm: OK, this is gonna be a short entry! But you'll all be happy to know my performance review at the library went really well today, yay! :O) Except for my slight problem with timeliness (although at least I'm usually only 5 minutes late at the most these days :OP), but my supervisor is very happy with my work with keeping the missing items shelf under control and how I assist patron's with issues. Go me :O)

In less good news, I think I started eating my lasagna when it was too hot because my throat feels weird like I've burnt it or something. Then again that could just me being a wuss, since we all know that's how I roll. :OP

And most unfortunate, the e-book I was reading needed returning, but when I tried to reborrow it I couldn't! It took me about ten minutes to realise why, my library card has expired! Shiiit, how'd I miss that? I didn't actually, I even noticed it last week when I was at volunteering but then forgot about it. And I hadn't even finished the chapter I was in the middle of. Bugger.

I'll have to wait until I finish at Mrs S's tomorrow to do anything about it. Boo.

Speaking of which I gotta head off now because I need my zzzs!
