10:41pm:Because I'm not sure about mine. On Friday I had a terrible sore throat and body aches, which continued into Saturday and a bit on Sunday so I didn't do any archery, which was rather a bummer. However, I did go this afternoon, which was exciting because my archery bag and the chest guard had come in! Both a lovely green! I also bought a little stand thing for my bow, it matches my finger thing (I can't remember it's actual name LOL), so I'm gonna be the most fashion forward archer out there LOL.

But yeah anyway, since coming home from the archery I've been coughing, which hopefully is just a conincidence, because I swear I just had a cold two months ago (did I already mention this? I can't keep track of my entries these days LOL), so I'm a bit worried I might have one again, which would suck.

All the same I'm glad I went to archery, I'm doing much better with my aim - I did record my score, but I haven't I actually added it up so I'm not sure how well I did, but better than last time.

I fear this will be a short entry because not only is it past 11pm, I also did my laundry and need to hang it all up before I go to bed.

There's not much else to report - except world events that shall not be named... Looks like watching news is off the table for some time.

And tomorrow is November 12th! The temporal junction point of the entire spacetime continuum! An important day for all Backies although I haven't actually written anymore McFly July fics, I should see if I can get inspired...

Right, as I said the laundry is waiting too be hung up so I'll be off now.

Ta ta!

10:27pm: Yes! Well, technically it's already happening as it's the 5th of November over there in the US, but it's pretty early in the day for California, so you know.

I've been slacking off with the updating, since I haven't actually had much to report, although the archery's going really well! I've got my own bow, my own arrows and even a quiver now! Still no chest guard yet, but I've been wearing one of my sports bras and it seems to be working out. I even competed - so to speak - in the Club wide competition on Sunday. As a beginner I was allowed to go on the closest target which is usually reserved for the under 16s. Even so, the 30m starting target was still a lot further away then I've ever tried! Suffice to say there was a lot of arrows that missed XD. Still it's not how well you do against others, but how you do against yourself and since that's the first time I've shot at a 30 m target I've got a new personal best :OP

What else to report, ah yes, that time o' the month is currently underway, I think it's a week late for some reason because my app has been telling me it should be starting for days so... Although looking at it right now I see I forgot to add my last period for September, which is a bit of a problem for the prediction side of things. Having said that, I think it's pretty much every 28 days, so not hard to figure out :OP

Anyway, time is getting on and I should go to bed earlier, especially seeing as it's a work night! Before I go, let us cheer because the Time & Motion study we've been doing at work is finally over \o/ man that thing was messing with my brain a bit.

There's probably Friday Fives I can do, but I'm sleepy so, I'll just wrap it up here.

Goodnight and to the USA...don't fuck this up.

10:28pm: OK, that's not actually the saying (it's supposed to about keeping your fast when there's water shortages), but it seems apt at this present moment since I have to get to bed.

I wrote and posted a McFly July prompt this evening, so hooray for that :O)

Apart from that not much else to report, work was busy, but fun as usual - yeah I have fun at work - I did have an unexpected desk shift, but it wasn't too bad fortunately (sometimes the desk can be a seriously pain in the butt).

I'll tell you what I haven't been doing as I should be...cleaning my apartment, which I seriously need to do by Wednesday evening otherwise my parents are gonna kick my ass so hard.

On that note, let's Meme and run!

Friday Five

30/8/24

These questions were written by moirariordan on LJ.

1. Do you believe that music can have a direct effect on your life? Hmm...well, I've never been moved by a song to take a new life path or whatever, so maybe not? I do enjoy listening to music though, especially in the car.

2. What is your current favorite song? Man, that's a tough one...there's lots of songs I enjoy! But if I had to pick one ummm... Kiss of Life by The Corrs, which is not current, but I don't really get into whatever the children are listening to now a days. :OP

3. What's the one song from junior high that you can still rattle off all the words to? We don't have junior high in Australia, primary school goes from Kindergarten to Year 6, and then High School is Year 7 to 12, but I guess middle school is like Year 6 to 8, so umm...maybe a song from The Corrs first album? But don't trust me on that ;OP

4. Did you have a prom song? Don't be embarrassed, we all did it. Don't have prom as such in Australia either, our dances are called Formals and we really only had one in Year 10 and Year 12. And there was no specific song for it. We DID sing or play Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) at the last school assembly in Year 12, so let's go with that.

5. Do you and your significant other have a "song" that you share? N/A.

Righto, bed calls, funnily enough, James Turner is running a 24/7 livestream on YouTube of his Big Wallet Legacy, and even though I've recently watched them, it's fun to have them going again. I hope I haven't missed anymore archery at the Paralympics though!

But yes, good night!

11:25pm: I was planning on getting a McFly July (August...er September) drabble up today, but I left it a little too late to start writing it and now it's coming up on 11:30 and I have to get myself to bed very shortly. I blame this rather large biography on JFK (yeah, I don't know why either XD) which I'm only reading when I'm at home because the book's too dang big to carry around, LOL. So I was reading that when I should have been writing.

So yeah whoops.

Not whoops though, is today was my second archery lesson and I'm very excited to report that the eye patch did its job marvellously! Last week I was missing the entire target a third or even more of the time. Today it was way, way less. Woohoo! Although, I'm still the most unco-ordinated archer of the group, but as the lady coaching the "Come and Try" session a few weeks back said, it's not how you go against the others, it's how you go against yourself. And yeah compared to last week, Moose is kicking ass and taking names.

After archery, I went to Mum and Dad's house for Father's Day, where we were later joined by my little bro and Grandpa for lunch. It was steak, potato salad made by my little bro and regular salad made by Dad - although I added carrot to it and it was most delicious indeed. There was even desert - Dad bough ice cream :OD.

Oh and I finished the Father's Day card, so go me. :OP

It was a bit of an interesting meal because the little bro asked how Grandpa was getting along, and Grandpa gave a very explanation of what he's up to regarding the paying of fees to the retirement village he lives at. It's quite a involved thing and he and a group of people at the retirement village are taking the owners to a tribunal because they're pretty sure they've been paying fees that they should have had to.

He got rather passionate about it, which nonpulussed Dad since he's not one for passionate discussions at the dinner table. But we mostly had fun. :O)

Once I got home I was supposed to do more tidying of my house, but instead I pottered around then watched Paralympic archery and now I'm watching the Boulder and Lead Final in Sports Climbing, although as said I have to head off to bed so I'll be turning that off soon. Which is a shame, because it's rather interesting!

But work calls tomorrow, so sleep does too.

I hope to have the drabble up tomorrow though, but don't hold me to that :OP

10:05pm: I'm not sure what's going on, but they're really rather sore...it was windy this afternoon so perhaps some dust or something got kicked up...

Speaking of the weather, it was 27 degrees today, like WTF? It's not even Spring yet, this doesn't bode well for Summer let me tell you!

In other news, I remembered something exciting from Trivia last night, one of the bonus round involved an anagram round, the clue was a "movie", for some reason just looking at it I was like "LOL, imagine if it was Back to the Future" and it totally was!! What are the chances?!

Not much else to report, although today Mum and Dad's car - which had to go to the smash repairers to be fixed - was ready to be picked up and because of where the smash repair place Mum decided it would be best to drive over to the Mall in my car, have me drive her to said smash repair place and drop her off and then drive my car back to the Mall. Which we did!

I did plan to park in the staff parking lot, however since I haven't used my staff pass in ages, it had been blocked. I'm pretty sure I'd have to go all the way to the car park office to get it unblocked, and that's all the way across the Mall, so nuts to that. Instead I parked in the public area, where in order to avoid having to pay you need to leave the parking lot and come back in before three hours is up. This is actually somewhat annoying when other colleagues do it through it the day (it costs $6 a day to park in the staff lot, which seems rather reasonable), but yeah.

Anyway, it's possible my eyeballs are sore because of a lack of sleep, so I'm gonna turn in now.

10:08pm: Might as well post four minutes past 10:04 if this is a belated birthday post, LOL. Although the July 3rd date is only for the US, as I discovered some years back, BTTF was actually released on 15th August here in Australia.

I was just reminded - looking at crossover_chick's entry today that it's McFly July! Which I should take a look at, maybe write some short fic if I get inspired.

Anyway, here's the the greatest movie of all time! :OP

Regarding today, I did have to go to the doctor's because I took the day off, fortunately there's a place near where I live that still does bulk-billing so I didn't have to pay to hear I've got a cold. The doctor was nice enough to give my a Doctor's Certificate for Saturday since this is one of the weeks where I do a Saturday shift. However, I'm not sure whether to use it or not...on the one hand, I got a heap of sick time (like way more than I have annual leave), but I think I'm on the other side of the cold and might even be able to go to work tomorrow. Having said that though, the other Doctor's Certificate does include tomorrow, and if I recall it can be a bit of a hassle if you come back before the sick note says... That might just have been for this other job I had.

Then, of course, I could do a half day because if I'm working on Saturday that means I do have to take a half day so I don't do too many hours. Plus, I'm making cupcakes for my mother - the retirement village she lives at has a monthly get-together for residents. The idea is that I make them and drop them over so we can decorate them. Which obviously I won't be able to do if I'm at work all day.

Eh, probably should just take the day off, I mean I'm still sniffling and I wouldn't want to overdo it (although my immuno-comprised worker has Friday's off, I'm sure my other colleagues wouldn't appreciate being exposed either!).

In other news, the UK is voting today, which strikes me as so weird, an election on a weekday? Thinking about it though, a lot of country's probably do that too, the US being a prime example. But yeah we have it on Saturdays here in Australia, which I guess sucks for weekend workers - although there's pre-polling of course, so I guess that's when they do that, I know I did when I worked weekends. But then we also have compulsory "show-up at get your name marked off the roll", so that influences things too.

There's a lot of elections at the moment...France, UK, the US... the UK is the only one where it looks like things aren't going to go to shit. The French look like they're gonna elect a right wing Prime Minster and the less said about the US the better...

And to quote the great Forest Gump - "That's all I have to say about that."

Since I'm trying to get over a cold I better haul ass and get to bed.

Goodnight.

6:19pm: The second last day of the year!

I've just got back from the gym and I've recently been looking at old LJs and I'm reminded that once again I've been slacking on the updating.

However, there's not a whole lot to report, or maybe that's not true, because after nearly 3 years my big brother and his family have been able to visit from the Japan! :O) His kids are 7, 5 and 1.5 years old now. I've never met the youngest until now, he can walk but he can't talk, which is normal I think. The other two more than make up for it though, in fact they might talk more than I do (I never thought I'd see the day!)

Just got a phone call from Mum about tomorrow, I'll be going over to my parents place for the evening - they've rented an visitor's room while my brother and his family are here so Dad has somewhere to hide from the chaos. I'll also be going over to my grandparent's place during the day to hang out with my grandmother, so yeah gonna be busy!

Christmas went well! I got some fancy new towels for my bathroom, always appreciated :O) Plus we had a super yummy Christmas lunch! Usually the whole maternal side of the family gets together, but this year we went to my grandparents place only for the morning. But on the 27th we went to my uncle's place - which is currently under renovation - but has a nice big deck out the back which my aunt and her husband also came. More super yumminess!

Yesterday, I went to visit the niece and nephew again, my little bro was also there so we went down to the park. It's a pretty impressive park, it's got a jungle gym along with the usual swings and play ground equipment. The youngest nephew and my big bro popped up later - it was amusing because I saw my nephew first and was wondering how the heck he managed to get there (as I said he's only 1.5 LOL), then I spotted the big bro.

In other news, Mum reminded me during the phone call that in just over two weeks she, Dad and I will be heading down to Melbourne on the cruise ship. I hope I'll be able to stay calm, I did get my fourth booster shot a couple of weeks back so I should have maximum protection. Having said that though, getting COVID even if you don't have much symptoms would truly suckass on a cruise, you have to stay confined to your room! Although at least my parents have sprung for a balcony cabin, but imagine being in one of those tiny ones without a window!

Anywho, I've got right back into The Sims 3 over the past few months, I've created a Hill Valley and populated it with ancestors of our favourite (and not so favourite) characters. I've had to download a whole bunch of hack type things to make everything run smoothly although it's still being a bit hit and miss. I swear my Sims game is crazy, it has an attraction system which I can't figure out the mechanics of, although it seems to be..."Be attracted to be in-laws", like the husband will not have the "magnetically attracted" mood when he's hanging with his wife, but he will have it when he's with his mother-in-law. And in-laws can flirt in the Sims so that's pretty awk! So far no-one's run off with their parent-in-law, but it's still whack.

Also playing with the Tannen family means I've got a family of assholes and it's hard to keep them from totally killing each other. They're even enemies with their own kitten! I've tried to get at least one of them be friends with the cat, but not much luck there. On the plus side, Howard Tannen (Biff's grandpa) at least gets on with his mother. However, I'm trying to get Howard together with his future wife (Biff's grandma the one who yells from the house at him) and it's proving a bit difficult, he keeps picking on his future father-in-law. LOL, what an idiot. And Buford's having an affair which seems on point...

In other news, I'm still without a fish, ever since Fishshenko died a few months back and I found out that my tank's water is too high in phosphate. I have changed the water and all that stuff, but I haven't had the water re-tested yet. I'm a bit concerned about the tank to be honest...it's got algae in it. I cleaned it all off when I did a complete water change, but it's since come back. Once I get a new fish, I won't be able to totally change all the water again so I'm not sure what to do. Should I empty it AGAIN, wash off all the rocks and restart the water cycle again? This might be a question for the internet.

Anyway! I better be off, I won't be able to play any Sims 3 tomorrow so I should get onto that this evening. Also, it's hot in my apartment again so I need to put my air conditioner on actually conditioning - the dehumidifier isn't cutting it right now.

Oh I almost forgot, part of the reason I was updating was to mention this seriously bizarre dream I had last night which involved Mum and I going to some sort of market where Crispin Glover, of all people, had a stand. I spent the whole dream wondering if I should go over and ask for an autography particularly since I happened to be wearing a Back to the Future t-shirt, LOL. Eventually, I got up the courage to go over there with Mum at which point it started pouring down with rain. I think I actually got away with mentioning BTTF and I got my autograph, but then I couldn't figure out how to get back to the train station where Mum was waiting (how we got separated, I don't know). I finally made it to the platform, but it wasn't the right one and then I woke up, do'h!

Right if I don't update before then, Happy New Year and here's to a 2023 that doesn't suck!

3:48pm: Indeed it is, I was planning to post this at 10:04pm California time, but then I remembered...I'll be at church.

Ah well, them's the brakes.

Moving along, I continue to read the old Journal entries and due to a lack of anything else to do I've decided to try the Anagrams from this post: https://anonymoose-au.livejournal.com/173058.html I was sick that day or something so I didn't get many at all.

Monday Madness

More Anagrams, wheee!

Please list at least one anagram for the following words...

1. rentals: ? slanter

2. wreathe: ? weather

3. untidy: ? Me! Er that is - I'm not sure I have something for this one...

4. ruling: ? Luring

5. peaks: Speak

6. imprints:? - Ditto, does this one even have an anagram?

7. meals: Selma

8. reserve: Reverse

9. cosmic: Comics

10. heirs: Shire

Also I was amused by the quiz I did in this entry: https://anonymoose-au.livejournal.com/177910.html

Apparently the day I go to Hell will be October 7, 2041. I wonder if I should put a reminder in my phone XD Not sure if Google Calendar will still be a thing then... Although I'm not sure if I mentioned this, but I once sent an email to my future self through a website and would you believe it, it actually came! I can't remember where I put it I should try digging it up again.

In other news the Senior Figure Skating Season has begun! I'm rather annoyed at myself because the first event is Skate America and the time difference meant I could actually watch the events, but I totally missed the pairs. Ah well, at least I saw the men. I just caught up on the pairs now, in fact, except maybe I should have gone for a walk instead, my eyeballs kind of hurt now.

I will be heading off to church soon though, so with any luck that will save my sore eyes because I'm hoping to do some fanfic and Sims playing today.

Anywho, Happy Back to the Future Day! We may not having flying cars, self-adjusting jackets or lithium mode, but we do have the internet LOL.

5:40pm: I'm watching a repeat of Hard Quiz and one of the contestants special subject is Back to the Future! Eeee! I think I might have watched it before, because I feel like maybe the guy didn't get through to the final round which is a shame, because I'd like to know if I could blitz those ones. :O)

I've missed updating this on all the significant September related BTTF Days, I was hoping to at least post one of my drabbles before the day turns in California, I've got like...an hour? Or maybe not, I get confused with the time zones and daylight saving.

Checks phone, oh wait I've missed the whole thing. Boo :O(

Oh well, this is typical of me - Marty McFly has nothing on me for tardiness :OP

Back to the Future man is in the third round, let's see... Oh wait he did make it through! Ooo let's see if I can make the cut.

So far BTTF man and I are two for two!

Aw shit...the third question is one have no idea about...I said Family Ties and then thought Taxi, which turned out to be right, I would have got that wrong! Although so did BTTF man.

Oh yeah I totally know this answer!!! The man didn't though! Although...I did say the speedo could only go above 80 not 85, so I could have screwed myself on a technicality. Which would be just like me TBH :OP As it happens the other contestant didn't answer enough questions right, so BTTF won the day! Which no-one should be surprised about because BTTF is totally awesome of course.

Oops, I got distracted by figure skating and just kinda left this window open. I don't have much to report though TBH, except I've been having strange stomachaches all week, it really sucks. I thought maybe it was the potato chips I bought, then the Jaffas, but I dunno. I'm out of both now though, so we shall see.

I did see a quiz while going through my old entries I wanted to do, but it remembers me from like 18 years ago, but I have no idea what password I would have used so no luck there.

Right, I want to do some writing on my drabble, so off I go to do that.

10:18pm: Yes! I was super excited when I found this out last month...but then I discovered that I did in fact know this. Which just goes to show how shitty my memory has become. :OP

I've continued my trawl through journal entries and here's an extremely rare occurrence. A quiz who's link still works!

So I decided to retake it. First time around I got JFK

This time...

I got Mother Theresa (rude it wouldn't direct link...)

Interesting... I wonder what the change days about me.

Apart from that, not much report although Mum is heading off on another holiday tomorrow so I'm over at my parents place. We've just watched out favourite show, LOL.

I also had the day off today, because I worked on Saturday, so I got the laundry done and just sat around until I went to meet Mum. I also unearthed some of my old stories, cool, I hate to think I threw those out. I still can't find my big A3 Art book, there's a drawing in there I want to scan into my computer, but no luck. I'm sure I kept it so this is a mystery indeed.

Anywho, I better head off I'm catching a ride back to my place tomorrow with Dad on his way to school, and he leaves rather early.

10:00pm: It's 12th August and in my little BTTF head canon this is the day I picked as George and Lorraine's wedding day. Upon finding out that in 1958 that day was a Tuesday, I briefly considered moving it to 12th July, but I really like the number "8" so I didn't.

I'm currently posting my fic about it on AO3, which I plan to have finished on 15th August, because that's the day the first Back to the Future movie premiered in Australian cinemas! (It was the olden days and distributors had no qualms about waiting over a month I guess.) I thought I'd just found this out, but when I looked through some of my Facebook photos I realised I'd actually found this out like three years ago. LOL, the stuff you forget.

Anyway, apart from that, not a lot to report...I have continued to read my old LJ entries to find out what I found to talk about that meant I could update every day and I discovered...

It was any old crap, like for real. About VCR tapes (LMAO remember those?) and recording shows...what I was watching on TV...every so often I'd bring up politics or world events, of which I had rather simplistic views on.

One thing that stood out to me, was how often I both used public transport and drove a car. I'd go from my apartment, to Chatswood, to my parents house, driving over the Sydney Harbour Bridge with apparently not a care in the world. What happened to me?! Actually I do know, panic attacks :O( to this day I can't drive over the Harbour Bridge, and except for one time I can't get on a train by myself either. It's kind of depressing. For example tonight a group from work went to the Modern Museum of Art tonight and I didn't, mostly because I was tired (which is probably my own fault for not properly getting my zzzs), but also because I didn't really want to catch a bus into the city - and I definitely wasn't going to take a ferry!

Thing is though, it probably would have been a lot of fun! I've been very unsocial lately, excepting hanging out with my parents and grandparents - which I enjoy - but like, what happened to hanging with my friends? Going ice skating? Damn, I need a life.

I also didn't have a proper dinner tonight, which proved to be a very poor decision which my guts have let me know in no uncertain terms. Ouch.

Anyway, I better get going, I have work tomorrow (you have to work 2 Saturdays in a 6 week period) and I need to get those zzzs!

Before I do -

The Friday Five

1) What's the weather like where you are right now? Chilly and rainy - the rain has eased since July, although it might be making a comeback. Australia's in the middle of La Nina right now which is bringing much wetter weather than normal. There's been a lot of flooding.

2) Has your weather been seasonally appropriate lately, or has it been unusual?

Oops, should have read this question before going on up there...but it's been unusual. We've already had more rain here in Sydney then we usually get in an entire year. I believe July was the wettest month ever since records began back in the 1880s.

3) Have you noticed any trends in the weather near you over the past few years?

Yeah, the summer's getting hotter and the winter's getting colder. If it's not bushfires, then it's floods!

4) Are you worried about climate change?

Hell yeah I am. I mean, who isn't? Like why are so many Governments around the world sitting on their hands over this? Australia is a huge offender in this, although the new Labor Government is showing some promise in this area.

5) Are you doing anything to combat climate change?

Well, I do pay extra to get my energy from green sources if possible (or at least I used to? I'm not entirely sure that's still happening, I think it is though, I'll have to double check that). I don't generally use my air conditioner (although I paid a lot to get it put in, it's a life saver sometimes), I do as much recycling as I can and...I use public transport a lot.

Righto, wrapping this up now. Goodnight all! (Happy 64th Wedding Anniversary to George and Lorraine!)

anonymoose_au: (Whoops)
10:18am: So I've got a cold (well, at least I hope it's a cold, the COVID RAT aka home test I took yesterday when I started getting a sore throat and stuffy nose was negative).

I'm feeling pretty ick so I took the day off work, which I figured would work out well because I have a doctor's appointment today (regarding the digestive issues) or rather I HAD one. Turns out my doc can't come in today, so it's been pushed to tomorrow.

Bugger.

I wonder if I should take a half day tomorrow morning because the appointment is at 11:15 or just take a long lunch. I guess it'll depend if my cold is better or worse, and then there's the question of whether in these times you should go to work with a cold at all. TBH, I have no concerns about taking time off because I've got quite a lot of sick leave, it's more that as a person who lives alone, work is my only source of social contact. I'm not a social butterfly by any means, but if I had to take a week off without seeing any other humans I'd get sad.

What does suck, is that due to various health and body issues I haven't gone to the gym in three weeks! I enjoy going to the gym, but I'm a bit of a wuss so generally if I feel kinda gross or if it's that time o' the month I'm not inclined to drag my butt to the gym to work out. Plus the principle of paying membership and not actually using it.

In other news, I'm out of carrots...damn...I may have to drag my butt over to the supermarket to buy some, I have a baby carrot or two a day and it'd suck not to get my daily intake.

I also have to wash my masks because I forgot to do that yesterday.

What else to report...well, thanks to a Tumblr inspired fandom challenge - McFly July, I've managed to get back into the swing of fanfic again. Yay!

To be honest I'm not sure if anyone (who hasn't already read it) would be interested, but if you are you can check it out here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/40341489/chapters/101052129

Well, I should go and eat some breakfast or something.

9:15pm: So I've been feeling nostalgic and all that jazz for the good ol' days - aka the first decade of the 2000s, but because of irony, I am indeed having a throw-back to this time...In the form of a serious IBS flare-up. It's been most unpleasant, I had a day off on Monday since I worked last Saturday and I had planned to go out and do some stuff, but instead I had some serious gut pain. Which did not go away :O( even after sleeping, I took Tuesday morning off, although I wasn't able to get an appointment with my doctor until this Monday. Anyway, I did feel better that afternoon...kinda...I felt pretty ick during my desk shift though...

I felt better Wednesday and Thursday, but not so good today :O( I took Buscopan earlier today for it, but it hasn't really worked.

God damn, IBS suuuucks. I don't need this shit...I wonder if it's stress related - it probably is since I don't generally suffer flare-ups from types of food. Although I did have tiramasu at my grandparent's place on Sunday...maybe that set it off.

Of course, now I'm kinda regretting not swapping doctor's appointments with Mum (we see the same doc) she had one on Thursday morning, but yeah, as I said I felt better at that time so I decided to stick with Monday. I've got my fingers crossed that this weekend won't end up sucking.

Anyway, I did plan to update on the 26th, because for some reason I used to have that as Marty McFly's birthdate in my head canon. I don't remember why I decided on that, I'm sure I had some convoluted reason...

I am indeed enjoying my foray back into creative writing, which I probably mentioned in the entry before this, but my memory is kinda shitty these days. Anyway McFly July is almost over and I haven't written today's prompt yet! I kinda have a couple of ideas for it, I'm trying to figure out which one to go with.

In other news the Commonwealth Games has started, which I'm watching at the moment, it's swimming. The Commonwealth Games is always an interesting one...since there's no USA or China in it, so Australia generally does super well, especially in the swimming, LOL.

I'm looking forward to Gymnastics though, you can't go wrong with gymnastics :O)

Ooo, but now we're getting some Velodrome action, nice.

Sooo, apart from that not much to report. Pray for my digestive system though, because owww.

10:46pm: At least on my Dreamwidth account...I guess I can change one of the ones I have.

Anyway, the 9th June is Marty McFly's birthday, so Happy 54th Birthday to the World's First Human Time Traveller.

So I continue to have BTTF on the mind, I unearthed my Back to the Future comic books - well actually not much unearthing was necessary because I actually keep them in a magazine holder that I bought a few months back. Rather unfortunately, only bought up to issue #20 and it actually ended with #25, how annoying! Especially since in recent years the price of postage from overseas - which is the only place I can find the issues - has gone insane. I remember when it was like 5 US dollars, and now it's just utterly ridiculous, we're talking US$25 for one comic book.

I wanted to buy a replacement for one of my Pusheen bookmarks that I managed to lose, these are tiny things, like smaller than your hand and the postage works out to Australian $35. It's bloody nuts! Apparently it's an Ebay thing...which is annoying because looking online you can see that to send a letter from the US it's only about two dollars. But according to the person I asked, if you've signed up with Ebay you have to charge the postage they assign, apparently Ebay seems to be under the impression that everything you buy on there weight like 10kgs.

Apart from that rant, I don't have much else to report - although my mother is currently flying to Japan to visit my big bro and his family. She'll be gone for 3 weeks and has been looking forward to this for ages, my brother and his wife had their third child last year and this is the first time Mum will get to meet my new nephew. She's a bit bummed she missed out on all the baby's first whatever things. On the plus side, both my nephews are born in June, so Mum will celebrate their birthdays with them and with any luck, my brother and his family will make their usual end of year visit this year.

So, yeah, I'm hoping to update the old journal a bit more, get back into writing and so on. I'm not sure if I'm just trying to recapture my youth (LOL, I make it sound like I'm 70 years old or something) but it gives me something to do.

On a final note...in an amazing display of not noticing something right under my nose...I thought I'd lost my sunglasses, I couldn't find them anywhere, not in my car, not in my bag, not in my jacket pocket... I could only hope I'd lef them at church and would be able to get them back on Saturday. Tonight though I went over to my DVD player...and there they were sitting on the cabinet...somehow I'd missed them this whole time. I swear...I'd lose my head if it's wasn't securely fastened to my person. XD

Right, it's coming up on 11:30pm and I need to get my butt to bed, I've finally busted out my flannel sheets, so here's hoping for a toasty warm sleep.

Goodnight all!

11:49pm: t-shirt when I saw it in K-Mart this evening! Because, how could I not! Especially since I seem to recall seeing the same shirts last year, but not getting one only to find them all sold out when I went back!

Anyway, it's a men's extra-small, because apparently K-Mart doesn't have BTTF shirts for ladies, which seems quite the rip-off, they have plenty of Star Wars themed t-shirts in the women's section, so why not BTTF. But it fits pretty damn well, so yaaay.

Moving on, my busy day when very well! Although for some reason that may or may not be related my right thumb hurts when I bend it, I have no idea what I could have done to it. I guess I could have picked up some heavy books at work today...Man, I need to figure out some exercises for it, I've been working on my other fingers at the gym with weights, but I have no idea how to get the thumb involved.

Anywho, as you can no doubt see I left it quite a bit late to do this entry so I don't have time to say much more, but my bank card still hasn't arrived! It better come tomorrow otherwise I'm going to have to ring my mother up so she can pay for my hair to be done over the phone (although I've just realised, she's doing so relief teaching tomorrow so she may not be available, shiiit) Plus I haven't actually paid for the reunion! So you know, that'll be kind of awkward.

But, there's still tomorrow! So fingers crossed it arrives! And that my cupcakes turn out well, I got the green food colouring today, must remember not to put too much of it in, last time I used red food colouring it was a bit overkill, LOL!

And now, I bid you all goodnight!

10:22pm: Yes, I finally realised how to rotate a video on my phone...with the edit button! Duh! No idea how I missed that, a bit embarrassing to be honest. I've been wanting to put this video on my Cruise Album on Google Pics, I think I mentioned it before? I couldn't find that edit option on my phone before, so I uploaded it because when I searched how to rotate videos it told me you could do it on Google+, but when I did that I couldn't find any way to do it. But! Turned out the option was on the phone the whole time...so we'll get to the later.

But I should update about some current events since I've been slacking on that too. I'm rather excited to say that I've caught up on the Back to the Future comic books! I ordered issues 14 to 17 from Kings Comics on Friday and they arrived today, which was a good idea if I do say so myself because that way I only had to pay for one lot of postage. Of course, it does mean if I'm going to do that I'll even more behind than usual (Australia's all ready behind with comic books). The "Who is Marty McFly" arc was a good read although I got confused at some points, like I was missing something, LOL. I figured it out in the end though so perhaps I didn't miss anything after all. :OP

Aside from that, not a lot of excitement in the life of Moose - although today I started the process to join the new provider Mrs S is going through, which is good news, because she's leaving her old one at the end of this week and if I'm not signed up I can't get paid...or you know actually work. The only pain in the butt was the fact I left the paperwork I need (first aid certificate, police check etc) at home so I had to go from Mrs S's (which is just across the road from the providers) to pick them up so I ended up a bit late for said interview. But it all went pretty well in the end, so things should be good to go next Monday.

And finally, today is Ash Wednesday, I wasn't able to go to any of the morning masses, so I had to go to the evening one, unfortunately I misread the start time so I was at the church a whole half an hour early. Whoops.

Oh and today marked the first day of helping Mum with the Catholic Scripture class, which went pretty well considering how had to haul a heavy-ass box of books to the classroom.

And now...back to the Cruise! )

Phew! This turned out to be a super-long entry and I better not stay up too late tonight, so I shall say goodnight!

10:04pm: Even though Australia's like 13 hours ahead I still felt the need to begin updating this entry at this historic time to celebrate the temporal conjunction point of the entire universe...aka November 12th. :OP

Not that anything particularly momentous happened today, except that it's super hot today and it's almost that time of the month which I'm sure is the reason I got such a nasty headache this afternoon. I took some paracetamol for it when I got home from work (I forewent ice skating today unfortunately) and it didn't do shit! Very annoying because I had to wait for a few hours before taking some Nurofen, although considering they've put out these new paracetamol/nurofen tablets on the market maybe I didn't? Although I wasn't actually sure I had any nurofen, but lucky for me, I did and now my poor head feels much better.

Anywho, moving on, still loving the new laptop! I notice that the keyboard is the sort where food can't get in between the keys, which is a relief because as one of those terrible people who eat while typing so now I don't have to worry about the keys getting stuck! Or maybe I could just stop eating over my keyboard, LOL. :OP

What else to report, well, I've made the cupcakes for Mrs S's party tomorrow. I hope they like them. I shall make the frosting tomorrow morning and then frost the cupcakes last thing, otherwise it tends to harden up too much, at least that's what I've found.

Note to self, I need to ask Mrs S if I can borrow her copy of Microsoft Office because I didn't realise this, but it wasn't actually included with my laptop, do'h! And no way am I forking out for the new Office it costs almost as much as the laptop to get it! Geeze, I just need Word and Excel I'm not asking for a lot. (I suppose I could get one of those free office programs, but I don't feel like it, so I won't. :OP)

Finally, before I get to the Memes...I've forgotten what I was going to type! Because of the headache I've been left super sleepy and rather ditzy. Um...oh! My new sandals...I'm somewhat uncertain about them because I kind of forgot that I can't wear superflat shoes without my orthodics in them because my feet end up hurting. Hopefully, I'll be able to wear them then, because the shoes do seem a little loose, but the next size down was too tight so...

OK, so Memes...man I've let them go for so long I have no idea what the last one I did! It seems it was from July so...

Away We Goooo! )

OK, that's the Saturday 9 for July done! And now, my eyelids are drooping so I'm gonna turn in. I don't think I've been getting enough sleep this week and it's finally hitting me.

So goodnight!

11:23pm: OK, that's a weird subject heading, but after not been able to find salted caramel stuff until I went to the Alfresco Emporium yesterday, now it's popped up again in the form of the Christmas gift from the library! Of course, now I'm wondering if I should try it out myself, or give it to my aunt. I'm not a big fan of salt, so I'm not sure if I'd like the taste. Decisions, decisions...

Anyway, so yes, the volunteer party was today, I was a bit late getting there but I didn't miss the speeches, or all the food, heh so yum! It was also amusing because it was held in the Local Studies Room, where there was a big sign saying No Food or Drink and there we were with a fruit platter, Christmas cake and scones!

After half an hour I decided to head off to the mall to see about getting small presents for my parents and little bro, but I then remembered an email I got the other day regarding the Back to the Future comic book, the third issue is all ready out! And I haven't even got the first one! However, the only comic book shops are in the city, so...I decided to leave my car parked at the mall and take the L90 in.

I went to Lincraft first and bought some fabric scissors and tried to see if they had any of the reusable shopping bags, but alas they did not (I have now ordered a bee one and a pig one from Ebay), then onto the comic shops! At the first one, which is closing down over the next year, has been around for a very long time, since the 70s, so it's sad to hear it will go. And the same two guys are still running it and they recognised me! Is my face that memorable? Anyway, I found the first issue there, but not the second, so I went to the other comic shop too.

However, they didn't have the second one either! Apparently it's only available online now, so I'll have to order it, that kinda sucks...especially because by going to the second comic shop (not to mention having to go get money from the ATM because some places still have EFTPOS minimums!) I missed the bus I needed to get so I that I wouldn't get charged for parking back at the Mall! That cost me five bucks (and 12 cents because of the credit card surchage), boooo! That's never happened to me before.

Hmpf, but I have the comics and I've read the first story, interesting stuff! Can't wait to see what other stories will unfold.

I was inspired to some creativity this evening, too, making a new mobile phone pouch, since the current one was all dirty and gross, not to mention it's too small for the phone which is how it fell out into the garbage bin on Monday!

Her'es the old one and here's the new one, which has an added bonus, I positioned the strap so I can turn it around, and on the other side is...an ice skate!. Pretty cool huh?

So my day was quite busy especially since I even got my food shopping in, go me!

Now though, I need to head off to bed, goodnight all!

11:09pm: Holy Shit! I just got an email and you won't believe from who...

ME!

Not me now...PAST me! Past me from 2003...although I seemed to be under the impression it was 2004 and that 1955 was 60 years in the past. Man, I know I'm bad at maths and time-keeping but that's pretty bad. But I can't believe it worked! I do remember doing it and wondering if it would since it kind of depended on the company continuing to exist, but it has!

Here's what I said! )

Hahahaha, I sound exactly the same! Which I guess isn't too much of a surprise, I mean one's personality is pretty set by the time you're 19 or 20 I'd assume.

But hey, I have good news for my past self I'm not in terrible debt! But I do have a place of my own to live in which isn't a terrible mess right now, buuuut. And I do still love BTTF and I do play The Sims sometimes...

I also mention tapes...heh, remember VCR? I actually do have tapes though...and I do have enough room for them.

And yes Past Me...31 is fun! :OD

Although, I'm still behind on NaNo! I was hoping to get to 15,000 words today so I'd only be two days behind, but it's almost bed time and I'm not gonna make it. Booo!

Oh well, here's the count as it stands at present:

13501 / 50000 words. 27% done!

But hey more than a quarter way through and that's great!

For now though, I must bid you all goodnight, from me and Past Me!

Sick Day

Oct. 27th, 2015 11:20 pm
anonymoose_au: (Oww...Aaah...Owwww)
11:12pm: I'm afraid so. My abdomen was in a bad way this morning and I knew there was no way I could drive to work, so I had to call Mrs S with lots of apologies and later on the Warringah Mall Library to say I was sick.

At about 10am I went back to bed where I slept until 3pm, bit despite all that I'm really tired now, so this will be a short entry.

I did make a big move though, I drove to my parents house, where I'm spending the night which will hopefully make getting to Mrs S's tomorrow easier because Wednesday is the one day the other carer can't come in, at least not without a lot of rearranging.

As for the shift at Dee Why Library tomorrow afternoon...well I hope I can get to that!

Right gotta sleep now, but today brought one piece of good news, the 3Oth Anniversary DVD set of Back to the Future arrived! Woohoo! I look forward to watching it when I feel better.

For now, goodnight.
