11:17pm: Yes indeed! Today was the long awaited outing with my friends to see Inside Out 2, the only annoying thing was I had trouble getting my car into a parking spot and as a result I got to see the bus I needed to catch to drive passed as I stood at the traffic lights to cross the road.

Which concerned me because the friends and I had agreed to meet up before the movie as my friend Ben had to leave right after it finished and I wondered if I'd miss it. Fortunately, the next bus wasn't long in coming, so I got to Chatswood in good time and we met up at a cafe although I didn't actually order anything, because dang me, stuff's expensive these days!

My friend Tina had bought along her boyfriend, who was actually at the cafe when I got there, but I couldn't remember what he looked like so I didn't realise, whoops.

So the movie session was at 11:45am, but we were about ten minutes later than that and there was still a wait for it to actually begin! Sooo many previews these days.

But yeah, it wasn't quite as epic as the first movie, but that's often how it goes, but it was a pretty good movie and funny :O) in fact I was most bummed to realise that now Disney isn't making DVDs for the Aussie market anymore how I'm supposed to get a hold of it. Boo, hiss.

After the movie ended and Ben had hurried off so he wouldn't have to pay for parking, Tina, her boyfriend and I went for lunch. We went to a Hong Kong Street Food place, which was interesting although I had no idea what to order and I didn't want to spend too much. I ended up getting a rice noodle roll, which I'd never had before and was rather yummy except it also included peanut sauce, I am not a fan of peanuts lemme tell you. It was also super filling so I had to bring half of it home in a takeway container.

We went our separate ways after lunch, I was hoping to find some boots especially since the sale at Myer was about to end, but alas no luck there. Annoying...

Right, so it's coming up to twenty to midnight and I do have work tomorrow, so I better do the meme and hit the hay!

These questions were written by amguynes on LJ.

What is the name of...

1. Your favorite book?
Ooo, a toughie for sure...If I really have to choose... Adrian Mole from Minor to Major (which actually includes 3 Adrian Mole books, but hey it's published that way :OP)

2. Your favorite movie? There can only be one Back to the Future. :O)

3. Your least favorite adaptation of a book to a movie? My least favourite? Uh...hmm...not sure to be honest. I can't think of a really awful one off the top of my head.

4. Your least favorite adaptation ever of anything to a movie? Hmm...I'm kinda curious as to how they made a movie out of Tetris but I'm gonna assume it was about the development of said game?

5. Your first ever novel/comic book/movie character crush? Hmm...well it's either Jonathan Firth as Prince Albert in Victoria and Albert or Colin Firth as Mr Darcy in Pride & Prejudice or Jamie Bamber as Archie Kennedy in Hornblower. I watched all of those around the same time and I can't remember which came first now!

Goodnight!

10:13pm: So this morning I headed back to Sydney and work on the train from Wollongong. Not gonna lie I was super nervous when I got on the train, but I listened to my anti-panic audio which helped out.

However, my stomach has been super irritated the whole day, which sucked, not sure if it was from the nervousness or the fact I didn't have breakfast until much later than usual because my parents actually don't eat breakfast these days and the hotel's restaurant isn't open on Monday mornings. Or...it could be from that time o' the month being a week away. Or at least that's what my app says...which is confusing because I thought it was due during the Fiji trip. If it's not though, that's a relief!

I do wonder if I should take some Buscopan...although I will be going to bed soon so I'll probably feel better tomorrow.

Although, I should have taken it earlier because it was being rather painful during the Performance Review at work (boooo!) On the plus side the review went well, go me!

Which reminds me...I keep forgetting to arrange Trivia Night, which happens on Tuesday, I could have asked today, but it's probably too short a notice. I guess I could suggest next Tuesday, but after that we'll have to wait until August when I get back. I'll do that though, because Trivia is fun!

In other news, we've started a new 4 week roster at work, previously we in the Collections team had did two weekend shifts every six weeks, but now we only have to do one every four weeks. For some reason I thought my shift would be this Saturday, but it turns out it's actually next Saturday. Which makes me wonder if I should re-arrange the day my friends and I are seeing Inside Out 2, but nah, Sunday's better. Of course, now that I'm not working on Saturday I should probably get my hair cut... Mum wants me to get a keratin treatment so my hair stays straight and shiny. It does indeed make my hair look nice, however it takes - I shit you not - FIVE AND A HALF hours...not to mention the fumes, which last time made my eyes burn pretty bad.

So yeaaaah...

Anywho, it's after 10:30 now so I should wrap this up...before I go...

10:24pm: Well, it's been aaaages since I've updated (again), but I feel a bit of a need to do it because of something that happened today.

For the past few months I've been going to this Arts and Crafts Circle which was set up by a lady in the area (Mum found it when she was on a quest to help me find IRL people to hang with), they've been monthly meeting and I've been doing my Pusheen cross stitch during it. The lady run it was hoping to get more interest, but no luck there.

Anyway, we were supposed to meet last weekend, but she asked if we could postpone it to today, which I was fine with - I felt a bit icky last Saturday anyway, so that was actually good. But alas when I messaged to confirm today, she said it wasn't a good time, but she'd call me later (I was at work until 1:30pm today).

Sooo...as it turns out, apparently, she's decided not to continue the group because I'm not as interested in design and that's what she was hoping for when she started the group. Fair enough, though I probably would have called it "Arts and Design Circle" in that case.

I'm kind of bummed about this...admittedly, there was quite an age gap between us, so it's not like we had a heap in common or whatever, but it still feels awkward, like did I just get dumped? LOL. I suppose I should use this as an opportunity to try and reconnect with my old friends, especially since I've been working on the train-ing and should be able to visit them.

Actually, I've been facing a lot of my discomforts lately, in just one week I'll be flying up to Cairns to meet up with my mother who is stopping there on her way back from Japan (where she's been visiting my big bro and his family). I'll be going with my mother's friend on the way up, but then...I'll be taking the return flight home on my own. At the start of last month I took my first flight since 2001, a short one hour one with Mum to Ballina where we stayed for one night after meeting up with another friend of hers.

Now having not been on a plane for more than 20 years (damn), and then only ever having taking overseas flights I was rather shocked at the complete lack of space. Like you get more room in a bus! (Although on the way back home I did in fact get more room because I sat apart from Mum in the Economy X section. But yeah, they really pack you in now a days.

So yes, next week it's up to Cairns and at the end of July I'll be going with Mum and her friend (the one who met up with is in Ballina) to Fiji.

All this is to prepare for going to Japan next year, Mum wants to go on this tour before going to stay with my big bro and family. I'll be seeing them too, but whereas she stays for three weeks, I'll only be there for a week or so - my big bro's house is way too small to feet us all in. Which means that while Mum and I will be on the nearly 10 hour flight TO Japan, I will need to fly back on my own.

So far my exposure therapy thing has been going pretty well, so fingers crossed! Although I did have a bit of a panic attack driving to my psychiatrist appointment on Friday (the irony), but I managed to get through it and get to my appointment, so yeah. Also, I purchased a Pusheen travel pillow in the hope it'll give me joy while flying XD. It has a built in eye-mask, so no doubt I'll look ridiculous with it on, but hey whatever works. I did plan on getting a Pusheen neck pillow, but they're only available from overseas and the cost of postage is ridiculous. This has proven to be quite the bummer because I somehow lost my Pusheen caps and I can't justify spending like 50 bucks in postage to get replacements.

I still can't figure out what happened to my caps...I know I definitely lost one, but I don't remember taking the other one out of my apartment, so what's that all about? I've cleaned the place since the disappearance and it's definitely not here. Bah.

Although speaking of cleaning, I really do need to tidy up the place, sigh, whenever I clean up - usually under the direction of Mum, I swear I'll keep the place nice, but invariably it goes to Hell. It's quite annoying to me, I mean I don't set out to mess up my place, buuuut...I think my main problem is, that while I do see the mess, it doesn't bother me enough to pick up right away, so I get home and sit down and before I know it's bed time and I haven't cleaned a damn thing. But I better get to work on it tomorrow because I want to be clean before leaving on the Cairns trip.

Not much else to report since my last update way back in January, as I often lament I'm not sure what to update with these days... on the other hand when I look at the entries from when I DID update every day it's not like I was doing exciting and interesting stuff then either. There was more in terms of memes (or question lists, I'm not sure why they were called memes, but whatever) and for a long time I didn't have a full-time job so I could write about job hunting or whatever. Or maybe I was just more inclined to type about whatever.

It's just occurred to me though...we're half way through the year, right? Already?! Crap, time passes alarmingly fast these days...I should do more mindfulness to take advantage of every moment.

Speaking of time, it's now past 11pm and I don't want to stay up too late so I shall wrap this up here.

Until we meet again (don't know where, don't know when...)

Ta ta for now!

10:46pm: Yes, indeed! I meant to update before this, because as I released a few days ago, I left you all on cliff hanger regarding my job news! Thing was I realised that since nothing had been made official yet I decided I better not mention it...

But now I can! That news is that I've been offered the Collections Assistant job! I'm so surprised to be honest :Op I though I did terribly on that interview as I said.

Of course, I'm still hoping to get the Collections Librarian role - which I'm still in - they're supposed to be advertising it any day now, but they're dilly-dallying on that. I have a slightly better chance I think, as it's still a 28 hours a week role rather than the full-time (although we could sorely use full-timers! We've got a backlog and all the extra work we have to do makes hard to catch up, we're getting closer though), although there's still the fact I don't actually have the experience in cataloguing. But the pay of course is way better, and while I'm pretty sure I can still afford the apartmento on the Assistant's salary it'll be a bit dicey.

Another reason to update is that some of my old school friends and I had a get together today, yay! Due to our general inability to organise stuff it's been aaages! Especially for one of them - since she lives over the Bridge and I sure don't go out that way these days.

Also, two of my friends have had babies since I've last seen them. One had a girl and the other a boy, there's also quite a difference in size LOL! The boy despite been younger is the bigger one, interesting how that goes down.

But yeah, it's always fun to hang out with the gang again! Even though one of them will be moving away soon :O( I curse my lack of ability to travel - like even if I had the money I'm still leery about getting on planes or trains.

Actually I had a bit of an issue with driving yesterday which resulted in a panic attack, it's very aggravating, especially because it only seems to happen when I'm driving in one direction. Like...I can drive on the same stretch of road in the opposite direction and I'm fine! Go the other way though and my anxiety goes through the roof. WTH me?

So I've ended up with a nasty scratch on my upper chest area again, which thoroughly sucks let me tell you,e it's in a bad spot so when I try to put a bandaid on it it won't stay properly. Plus you can see the bandaid anyway, grumble, grumble.

Anywho, I better wrap this up, because even though Daylight Savings ends tonight meaning it's more like 10:03pm I've been yawning a lot so I think I need to catch up on some zzzzs.

Ta-ta for now! :O)

11:13pm: Indeed! I'm pretty sure I didn't mention it last entry, but earlier in the month while driving to the new apartment to drop stuff off I heard some startling news on the radio.

Namely the rink that I ice skate at was going to close down next year!

At first I thought I misheard, they only refurbished the place a little over a year ago, fixing up the pipes and redoing the whole ice surface, adding a gym and all that.

They even had the Australian National Figure Skating Championships there in December (which I sadly didn't get to because I had a terrible panic attack while trying to drive there, but let's not relive that :OP)! Plus the whole reason given by the owners of the shopping centre where the rink is made no sense! They claimed that by demolishing the rink they'd be able to provide better access to the bus and train stations, except those stations are less than 100m away. I mean unless they were planning to have the trains and buses go right through the middle of the shopping centre that's just BS.

Anyway, the skating community was outraged! Without this rink, there's nowhere to skate on the northern side of Sydney. All those kids and adults who take lessons would probably have to give up the sport - or travel two hours or more to get to another rink in Sydney (there's only three others and none of them are Olympic size like Macquarie).

Fortunately, there was an outpouring of support for the rink to remain, even politicians got involved (well it is an election year :OP), I signed a couple of petitions and sent emails myself and then the good news came through today!

The Rink is saved! Yaaaay!

This is indeed very happy news! I don't get to the rink as much as I like because of the issues I have with driving some times and the thought of time ticking down where I'd have chance to go skating was pretty disheartening.

Power to the people!

Anywho, on that good note I shall wrap this up - I have to go to bed - it's been a busy day, I've had two separate visitors to the apartment, my godmother Wendy and my old, old landlord (and Mum's friend). They were both very impressed by the place, which I've been taking good care of so far. Keep it clean, me :O)

11:10pm: Yes indeed, it's been nearly a month since my last update! I've really been letting my Dreamwidth down haven't I? It's not as if nothing's been going on, in fact I've been quite busy with extra shifts from the library and caught up with some old friends. Actually, this weekend I'll be catching up with more old friends Edith and Elva from high school! (It's interesting because I always mixed up their names even though I knew who I was talking to in my brain, my mouth would say the wrong name - the ass) Elva lives overseas now so this is quite an occasion! In fact I'm taking the day off work this Sunday for it. I'm very relieved I can do that actually because apparently the actual rule at work is you need to give 10 days notice to take leave (even if it's just for one day), that seems like BS, I mean not everything gets planned weeks in advance.

Speaking of work, it's getting a bit alarming just how many people have left or been transferred to another library in the system. The staff area down the back is practically empty these days, yet I remain without a permanent job. In fact, one of the staff they hired externally has just gone off on a month long holiday the second they got hired. In what world does that make sense? This person better have a lot of experience - although they're still going to need to learn the new system, which I'd liked to point out I don't need to do. Grumble, grumble.

Moving on, how epic was the rescue of the Thai Boys from the cave?! I can't believe they all made it! When I first heard about it on the news I didn't have much hope at all, but everyone banded together and got them out, a good news story for sure. :O)

Sadly, there's also very distressing news...last Thursday a very popular figure skater Denis Ten from Kazhistan (the first to win a medal at the Olympics - a Bronze back in 2014) was murdered in a robbery. I followed him on Instagram and the whole thing is still a terrible shock, very upsetting and surreal. His last post was only a short time before his death and it was very sad to see it there in the Instagram stories until it disappeared. I wasn't like a huge fan or anything, but the whole thing is just totally messed up (the robbers were trying to steal his car mirrors, who kills someone over that?!) and a total waste. :O(

In happy news, it's now just one week until my parents return! Actually less than one week since they'll be home next Tuesday in the late morning. I'm looking forward to seeing them, it's been like three months an I'm sure they'll have lots of stories and whatnot. Although I have to clean my father's car because it's been parked in their carport this whole time - except for the few times I've taken it out to keep it's battery going - and it's got all dusty and salty.

Right, it's getting late so I should head off - I've been watching Le Tour De France while I'm typing this and a guy just rode off the road and into a ravine! Thankfully he's OK, but geeze that was a shock. Also...this is the same route where 23 years ago a cyclist in the race died, seems a poor choice of route honestly.

OK, I'm going to wrap this up because I do need to get my shut eye.

11:52pm: It's just been a busy weekend! What with staying over at my friend's house on Friday night (we watched Samantha Bee and Last Week Tonight - is that what it's called?), ice skating and watching the figure skating Grand Prix event while battling a terrible headache and of course doing NaNoWriMo.

Although the headache I mentioned totally kicked my ass last night and I didn't get any of my story written, which sucks because I'm falling quite a lot behind and I'm going to have to pull my finger out if I hope to catch up. Plus Mrs S is returning this week, so I kinda let last week and all the free time then slip through my fingers...which reminds me of my Uni days and how I'd procrastinate the Hell out of assignments. :OP

Anyway, I don't regret watching the skating though, it was very exciting! The Last Old Man Skater standing, Sergei Vonorov from Russia (aged 30, which is prehistoric in figure skater years) won his first Grand Prix Gold! How awesome is that! He put on two excellent programs - I've only seen the free program though and a great Gala performance, which I watched today. :O) Go you old Russian Figure Skating Grandpas! I really hope he makes it to the Olympics!

Anyway, it's almost midnight so I better leave my word count here and head off, gotta make sure I get the proper amount of zzzs!

Social Day!

Oct. 8th, 2017 11:15 pm
anonymoose_au: (Pinkie Pie Bounce!)
11:01pm: Yes indeed! Not only was this morning the get together for my uncle's birthday (usually it would be for my aunt too as her birthday is actually today, but she's sick so couldn't come), but since I took the day off work I went to my friend's house in the afternoon.

The family get-together was great! I made mini-blueberry muffins and we had breakfast with sausages, toast, eggs and tomatoes (although I didn't eat those :OP) and a good time was had by all.

It was also great seeing my friend again, since I've been slacking on contacting her so it's been like a few months since I've seen her last, despite the fact she lives like only ten minutes away, shame on me! Hopefully, we'll be able to see each other a bit more often, although since I work on the weekends and like to go skating on Saturday afternoons and I've been getting those extra shifts it's harder than you'd think to find a good time.

The only downside of today is hayfever is attacking me like whoa right now...at least I hope it's hayfever, it better not be another cold (knock on wood!) Mrs S will never let me live it down if it is, plus I don't need that shit.

But I think it is, because it all started yesterday when I used the fan rather than the air-conditioner in my car, I think the fan takes in air from outside rather than air that's all ready in the car and I got a face full of pollen because my nose was itchy and runny. Then today it's all stuffy, and my ears are itchy. I've been meaning to use my nose spray, but I can't find it! I'm hesitant to take an actual hayfever tablet because whilst they do work my eyeballs end up so dry I end up with a terrible headache. I may have to give in a take one so I can get some sleep, perhaps it won't be so bothersome if my eyeballs are closed.

Speaking of bed, I have to hit the hay right now because I haven't been getting enough sleep the last few days what with the ice skating and it doesn't take much for a lack of sleep to get to me. :OP Also, it's that time o' the month, grumble grumble.

So on that note I'll be off! But all in all it was a great day, I even got to see the little bro, it's been a while and I was really happy to hear he's given up smoking, yay!

And now I'm off.

11:44pm: Yes, indeed the first Junior Grand Prix event of the 2017-2018 season is happening up in Brisbane this week! I watched the ladies and mens short programs live yesterday and this afternoon it was the short dance and mens free programs. Interestingly and strangely there's no pairs competition in this event, I always though ice dancing was the least popular of the skating events, the more you know!

So at the end of today the gold, silver and bronze Junior men were crowned. :O) Three Russian born lads, although the gold medalist actually represents USA, so not a clean sweep. :OP But there were three Aussie men and a New Zealander in the mix! One of the Aussie men and the New Zealander were very impressive! There was also a kid from Mexico who kicked some major ass - well maybe not so much scoring wise but still!

Ah figure skating so fun to watch! Although I probably peered at my laptop screen too long because I ended up with a headache thankfully I took some ibproufen and it's good now although yet again I've neglected my fic, honestly me, get with the program!

Speaking of ice skating, I'm pretty sure I won't go tomorrow because I've still got a cough from my cold so it's probably not a good idea. Fortunately, I don't have to worry about my beanie because my friend kindly went and got it for me, yay! Although I feel bad about leaving the beanie with her for too long since I haven't actually given her the money for it yet! Oh well I'll guess I'll figure it out.

Anywho, I better not dilly dally because it's almost midnight and I do have work tomorrow, plus I woke up at like 4am this morning and tossed and turned for a while until I went back to sleep!

11:34pm: Indeed! I couldn't remember when I last updated so I just checked and I haven't since Friday! Dang.

Well, first things first, on Friday I got a call from the HR people while I was at the gym, no dice with the job, apparently my lack of experience with children's events and my somewhat simplistic answers to interview questions (I'm not entirely sure what that was all about) dooed me. I say boo! But on the other hand there was no promise of it been made permanent and even if it did I'd have to reapply for it. Screw that shit.

I wonder though, if there's going to be an attempt to break up the amalgamated council, several of them have been fighting the State Government and the premiere has backed down! Of course, this doesn't affect the all ready merged ones, but the Pittwater people are still seriously pissed about what's gone down. But it'd be quite a bru-ha-ha.

Then there was the get together on Saturday, although I got a call on the way there from Mum, apparently Dad wasn't well! It was bad enough that he called the home doctor to come and see him. Mum thought he might have to go to the hospital for tests! Fortunately it wasn't as bad as all that, apparently Dad had been worried he was having a stroke or something, but it turned out to be a stomach virus. He's much better today - which I know because I'm here at the parental abode for my usual Monday night staying over, despite Mum being away.

He cooked my dinner so er...I hope he's properly recovered, gulp! It was a yummy dinner though sausages, boiled potatoes and beans.

But the get-together was good! I had no idea Ben lived so close to the big shopping centre, we went down there and I went to Jay-Jays, but the Pusheen water bottle I wanted wasn't in stock. Bummer.

And then we hung out and chatted as we do. :O) And had a dinner cooked by Ben - an interesting concoction of rice and sausages, LOL.

Anywho, I'm rather sleepy so I bet head off now, gotta get my beauty sleep!

10:46pm: Not sure if I mentioned this but I borrowed a DVD series from the library the other week called The 72 Cutest Animals and of course it's full of cuteness! They've just shown the Elephant Seal, the adults aren't that cute, but the little calfs sure are! Man, I love seals and how they have to wriggle along, LMAO, boing, boing, boing! And so on :OP Looove it.

Anyway moving along, it's been a busy day! First there was work at Mona Vale Library this morning, it started off rather quiet, but ended up being quite busy and then afterwards volunteering at Dee Why Library. I arrived rather later than usual for the latter because I forgot my phone this morning so had to go via the Granny Flat to get it and I also had to pick up my newly altered pinstripe pants! :O) They're looking good although I have tried them on yet.

Speaking of pants though, I did buy a black pair with wider legs at Warriewood yesterday, I got them from Suzanne Grae which is kind of an old lady clothes shop, but it has the benefit of short length pants, which means they actually fit me without needing to be taken up! Praise the Lord! They look very nice, except they do seem to be slightly tight? But I think they'll expand a bit, I hope so! But it's not like I could have got the next size up because then they'd be too big. Seriously, what's up with pants and me? Pisses me off.

Eeee! Break in proceedings to say the panda has just shown up on the DVD and eeee they're so CUTE!!! They look like soccerballs! It cracks me up.

What else to report? Well, my throat seems to be a bit dry today...weird, I hope I'm not getting a cold (knock on wood), maybe I should gargle or something?

Oh! And I almost forgot, dinner with the co-worker last night went really well! On Mrs S's advice I made cupcakes, but I think I mucked up the recipe a little because they didn't come out as nice as they usually do. In fact the first batch was kind of a write-off to be honest. Oh well, at least I got the frosting right this time around!

My co-worker baked chicken and added some Hoysien sauce (I think), which was Chinese inspired, but there was also mashed potato and sliced potato with a Peruvian sauce on it. Which I've tried before at Mrs S's place, it's quite nice! And the second batch of cupcakes turned out OK, so there was that as well. Her boyfriend who lives in the sharehouse too joined us, so that was interesting!

So yeah good time being social, go me.

Anyway, I better wrap this up and head off, I've got to go to bed and do my Russian!

But! I can inform you the panda got to be number 1 in the list, as it should be, LOL.

Sand now, goodnight!

11:28pm: So for the past few days I've continued investigating tablets and I thought to myself, you know what, maybe I should buy one of those cheap 7 inch tablet they have at Officeworks, it comes in all sorts of different colours and I could use it for apps and type my fanfic on this laptop etc etc.

Except, I kinda forgot the main problem with that tablet, it's got some weird shit going on with the screen, like...it's weird? It's got this kind of glare to it and it's nearly impossible to hold it at an angle that doesn't cause it to look weird. It's not easy on the eye at all, boo.

So, now I have to take it back...again, not that they know I bought one before, but dang what a waste of time, grumble grumble.

I think I'm just going to go back to looking at second hand tablets, or see if I can get the old Motorola to work properly in the meantime, damn thing's so slow these days. But it's not like there's not enough storage on it, very strange...Maybe that's just how it goes.

Right, what else to report - well, I got an email today from Mona Vale with a whoooole lotta shifts for the upcoming months! Wow, what luck! I can take all of them pretty much...except for the two I'm already working, LOL.

In less good luck, it would appear the library job that I'm going to apply for was originally advertised only internally...I don't remember seeing it, do'h! So now it's being externally advertised, so there's gonna be a heap of applications. Of course, I'm going to call the contact person and let them know I'll be apply and so on, although there is one concern...namely that one of my co-workers who I was working with today had rang up to ask about the job and it sounds like they want someone who'd be willing to do Storytime for the kids. It's not a necessary part of the job description yet, but ewww.

Also I wonder how the days will work out? Plus it's for Manly Library, which is interesting, I wonder why they didn't mention it it in the ad. Eh, whatever.

So time is running short so I better wrap this up - but I need to remember to call a few people on Monday, namely the HR Department about claiming some of my gym membership, I keep forgetting to do so and I need to know if the GST needs to be on the thing or what.

Also, I should call my friend! I saw her in the library today actually, but we didn't have enough time to talk, but I've been too much of a hermit lately.

Right, it's ten minutes to midnight and once again I've been late to get to bed so I shall take this as my cue to exit!

Goodnight all!

11:18pm: My person! I must have overdone it at the gym...at least on the leg press machine because my hip area was most sore today especially when crouching down to put books away at the library. And I think it might have had a knock-on effect because my lower back started hurting too. Then my shoulders...and now my neck. Son of an ass. Suffice to say I didn't end up going ice skating this afternoon, boooo!

It could also be my orthodics, I still haven't made an appointment to get 'em checked out, which could be screwing with my muscles too.

So...yeah, with this general discomfort I'm not much in the mood to update, but I felt I should because...er...I dunno. :OP I thought I had something to update you all about but I guess I don't really. :OP Although I'm watching my house shows and OMG this kitchen has a red sink?! What the actual Hell? I didn't even know they made such things! Cripes, it's as ugly as you'd expect it to be too. :OP Oh well, at least the taps aren't red...if they were I'd be really creeped out.

Oh yeah! I did see my friend who lives nearby at the library today! That was rather exciting, she's mentioned that she often comes in, but I seem to be busy most of that time so she doesn't say anything. But I wasn't doing much this time so I was able to say 'hello'. Nice. :O)

Right, so I'm gonna wrap this up...and hopefully my person will feel way better tomorrow, because otherwise owwwww.

Goodnight all!

11:52pm: Yes! This evening I not only finally got my umbrella back from my friend's house where I left it like two month ago - buuut I got to hang out with some of my high school friends, one of whom I'd hadn't seen in aaaages!

It was great! :O) We were actually supposed to be helping the friend's whose place it is with packing because she's moving out soon. But we kind of ended up abandoning that, LOL, fail. But it's not as if she's moving out tomorrow so I don't think it's too big a deal. :OP

I was a bit disappointed that I had to leave, but I do have work tomorrow, although even if I didn't I was starting to feel a bit sleepy so I probably would have had to go anyway unless I was going to sleep over or whatever.

Anyway, it was a heap of fun so I told them to let me know next time they were hanging out so I could hopefully join in - unless it was going to be a pub-crawl or something, 'cause they ain't no fun. :OP

Anywho, as mentioned I do have work tomorrow and it's almost midnight so I better wrap this up and hit the hay.

Goodnight all!

10:28pm: Or at least I do. I dunno if it's because it's that time o' the month or what but I've got some terrible abdominal discomfort and a niggling headache that won't go away despite the fact I took some period pain medication. I hate it when pain relief doesn't work because I can't take anything else for like another hour, by which time I need to be asleep because I have to go to work a bit earlier than usual tomorrow. I sure hope I feel better because otherwise this will suuuck.

Anyway, the get-together with the friends last night went super-awesomely! Except my other friend couldn't come, boo I so should have asked her along earlier, although I'm not entirely sure she would have come anyway, it was a long car ride out there.

Ben's new place is very interesting, it's located directly across from the hospital he works out, he can literally just roll out of bed and get over there in five minutes! I suspects he gives himself more time than that though. :OD

So yeah, I did plan on making this an actual entry, but my discomfort makes that impossible, so instead I'll have to short-entry syndrome you all again. Although before I go you'll all be pleased to hear that Plushy did excellently at his show in Italy, he's got the moves, man, he's got the moves. Note to self: Must go seem him somewhere somehow.

Now, I'm off, let's hope my various aches and pains are gone tomorrow, I got shit to do.

11:45pm: I didn't get around to updating last night because I was busy telling the Figure Skating message board about the ice skating show and thus didn't have time to do so here!

However! In the world of International Figure Skating there's one last competition left, the World Team Trophy which I was watching tonight and then as soon as it finished I had to make cupcakes for the party tomorrow so I'm only just getting around to updating!

Anyway, it was an amazing show! Even though I didn't get a photo with the Aussie skater after all, he disappeared not long after the show finished - probably because it ran late and as soon as it ended the hockey players came out to practice. But! I did spot him in the new gym area at the ice rink while Mum and I were in the foyer picking up our tickets. I'm not sure about the wisdom of putting a big-ass window in a gym area, like you don't really want perfect strangers been able to stare at you!

They've also added a huge TV screen to the ice rink! How cool! There was a professional person filming the show actually, which is why I didn't take much video myself, because the camera he had was waaay better than my mobile. Although, having watched some of the video back I'm most proud of how steady I held it, go me. :OP

Like I said it was a great show, there were lots of skaters from all skill levels, from tiny 5 or 6 year olds to our Aussie Olympic Skater! There was even a skater who twirled fire! Except, she had trouble lighting the fire sticks, so that ended up being a bit awkward, LOL.

And Brendan Kerry (aka the Aussie skater) and his figure skating friend from the US showed off their backflips, which are always a big hit! I need to upload the video of that to show you all.

There were quite a lot of funny moments too, the US guy even skated a bit of Swan Lake en pointe, or should that be en blade and all!

And I can safely say 'the lunge' is the move of the year, everyone was doing it!

Right oh, I better be off now, I need to get the second batch of cupcakes out of the oven and get ready to go to bed. Tomorrow's gonna be a busy day! Wish me luck getting to my friend's housewarming tomorrow, Mike Pence has decided to visit Australia and if we're unlucky my friend and I will get stuck in road closures (just when you thought the US Government couldn't be any bigger of a pain in the ass).

11:46pm: And asleep by now because I need to get up a bit earlier than usual to get to Mrs S's place half an hour earlier than usual, but I got caught up in reading this book about the 747 and doing my Russian, so I don't have much time to update.

I had a good day! I went over to see my friend in Bigola Plateau which was fun, we hang out and shot the breeze and all that jazz. Good times, good times.

Aside from that, not much else report, I'm just waiting for Cold Case to end so I can get to bed, I haven't seen this episode before so that was pretty cool.

So, this is gonna be a short entry, so sorry about that, I'm sure you're all devastated. :OP

One last thought...when I watch my house shows a lot of people seem to buy houses furnished...is that a thing in the US? I've never heard of buying a house in Australia that's fully furnished. seems really bizzare.

On that mystery, I'm off!

11:41pm: So it would seem! After a whole week of wet weather it's finally cleared up out there, and now it's almost gone back to summertime weather! I'm sweating here and have had to turn my air-con on. Only downside to that is it still seems to get cold in the late night so I have to grab the doona, but theeen when I wake up I'm all sweaty and gross.

And that's why spring and autumn are a pain in the ass sleepwise.

Moving along, I got the car registered today, I left it at the mechanics and it was ready to go when I finished work at Mrs S's (although for some reason they didn't answer the phone when I called to confirm that, so I was quite relieved when I got there and found out it was indeed ready.

Although my plan to go to Dee Why Library and the Medical Centre before my library shift didn't happen, instead I went after, but sadly...no sign of the Up. I guess I'll never know what happened to it. But if someone picked it up I hope they can at least use it. Meanwhile I've ordered a new Up and magnetic clip thing, although the former is sure to arrive before the latter, I guess the clip it comes with will be OK?

Moving on, the shift at the library went well, lots of books to return and patrons to assist, good times, good times. :O)

And time is getting away from me and I'm going to see my friend tomorrow so I must be off to bed now.

So I say goodnight!

11:18pm: On this house show I watch on Sunday night. It's called Flip This House and it follows different flippers (as they call them), but I tell ya the last few episodes have been full of Angry Guys, like all yelling and swearing at each other. Can't you boys just get along? :OP

In other news, I finally remembered to get the box my mother found in M and Grandpa's garage from the boot of my car, although with all the rain that's been going on it hasn't really been that feasible. But the rain finally let up this afternoon so when I finished work and popped home before heading to church I carried it, my cupcake carrier (which I got from Mum earlier) and my box of the first few seasons of The Simpsons (which I'd lent to my Uncle Sam and his family and also got back earlier) into the granny flat.

Mum said there were clothes in the box, but imagine my surprise when I opened it and started to go through to find all these clothes I really like but hadn't been able to find! I have no idea why the ended up in M and Grandpa's garage, among them were my Garfield satin pjs, a few of my favourite t-shirts, a dress that'd been super good for the beach and stuff like that! I'd been wondering where it had got to for ages!

This why you have to be careful where you put things when moving!

Anyway! Grandpa's birthday party was great! Although I was only able to be there for an hour (boo), but I got to see M, Grandpa, Aunt Weed, her fiance Pete, Uncle Sam, Aunt Jo, cousin Mack and my parental units. Good times, good times. Although it was super humid today so that was a bit uncomfortable, good thing I wore one of my sundresses!

Aunt Jo kindly cooked sausages early so I had something to eat before I headed off for work - although as it happened the traffic was good (of course) so I ended up being early. I went to look around the shopping centre and got a call from my friend, Ben inviting me to go to the beach (although it was still pretty cloudy at that time!) but alas I couldn't go. Boo! As it happened the weather cleared up during the day and judging from the photo he posted on Facebook it turned out to be quite a nice day.

Speaking of Facebook photos, some people uploaded photos they took, including the group shot! I'm sure you can spot me. :O) And see everyone seems so tall! I thought my heels were a decent height.

Right, I better be off! I've got work tomorrow morning and I still have my Russian to do before I turn in. Let's all hope my bank card arrives tomorrow! I owe Mum another fifty bucks and Mrs S a hundred (I may see if I can send her that money by direct debit, guess it depends what she wants).

Oh and I almost forgot, I went to my parental units this evening after church (they and Mrs Lampe came so we all sat together) so I got delicious lasagna and salad for dinner. Alas the little bro was meant to come, he also missed the party this morning, but he wasn't up to it - apparently he partied a little too hearty last night.

For now, though, goodnight!

Reunited!

Mar. 18th, 2017 11:56 pm
anonymoose_au: (Pinkie Pie Bounce!)
11:16pm: Yes! The 15th Year Reunion of my class (or more accurately the 16th Year Reunion - we were always a bit late as a class) happened this evening.

Man, talk about a blast from the past! Most of the class didn't actually come alas (so many people live overseas these days, don't know what's up with that...), but a smaller number of people was probably best, because these sorts of functions get loud!

Anywho, I was somewhat surprised to find when I put the info in my phone of the location this afternoon and discovered it'd take me a good hour and a half to get there! Which meant I needed to leave pretty much as soon as the ice skating finished! I hadn't heard from my friend Micki on Facebook messenger, which was bad since I didn't have her mobile, so I decided to try and use the call function on it. Which worked, yay! And I found out that Micki and another old school friend of mine, Kelly, were over at Kelly's flat and planned to go to the Reunion by Uber. And as it turned out Kelly lives on the way to the city, so I was able to drive over to her place and join them for the ride in.

I hung out with the two of them at the flat for a bit, which was cool, especially since Kelly found a notebook that our friendship group had written in way back in Year 12. Man, memories! Although we all still look the same, LOL!

So we got the Uber in a bit late - the Reunion started at 5pm, but we didn't actually leave until closer to 5:30 at which point I wondered what the likelihood would be that everyone would remember my name, but I wouldn't remember any of theirs! (Because that's a serious issue of mine, LOL) My friends agreed they might also have this problem! The Uberdriver suggested we make a game of trying to guess, although as it happens, Micki won quite easily. I had lots of trouble because a number of classmates had dyed their hair, so their faces looked kinda familiar but I didn't even have their hair to go on!

But of course, everyone seemed to remember me (like I said, beats me why! Perhaps it's the loud voice - although one of the people there theorised it was because I walked home every afternoon past the rest of them at the bus stop so I was burned into their memories or something LOL). My two friends and I mostly stuck together but we did end up talking to most people, although there were a few I didn't get around to, ironically one was perhaps the only person's whose names I remembered! Ah well.

However! In what was probably a sign of my impending old age, I found myself feeling pretty sleepy by the time the reunion officially end at 9pm. Most of the group moved to a pub next door, I went with them initially figuring that Kelly and I would catch an Uber back to her place, but she was planning to stay out quite late, whilst I also have grandpa's party and work tomorrow! So, I decided to leave, except I had only brought $10 along! Well, $13...

Micki though, gave me twenty-one bucks (I need to shout a meal or something when she gets back - she lives up in Queensland at the moment) and I was able to get a taxi home - I wasn't sure I'd be able to set Uber up on my phone properly without a valid credit card. As it happened, I totally miscounted and told the taxi driver I had $38 to get me back to Mosman from the inner city, so I was quite embarrassed and worried when I got back to my car and only seemed to have $30! The taxi driver was nice about it, but still...however, when I got up and out of the car two dollars fell off my lap so in the end I was only 70 cents short, phew!

But, yes I got in my car, drove back her and arrived a little after 10pm, so good time was made.

Right, I better wrap this up, it's nearly midnight and I do need to get up tomorrow. I'll hopefully have the group photo from the night to show you all tomorrow.

But now, goodnight!
