9:06pm: I've come to greet you again...

I wonder how many times over the last few years I've posted on here saying that I'm hoping to get back in the journalling game and then never posted again...LOL...probably at least three times.

Anyway, I'm watching Back to the Future Part II on TV right now, and it reminded me of the good old days, when I was young and free and full of stories. I honestly have no idea where my creativity wandered off to. I did start writing a fanfic a few years back, but I ran out of steam and never got around to finishing it. I also gave up on NaNoWriMo. Although I was reminded of it the other day, when I finally got around to fixing all my passwords using one of those password generator apps. It's still going...maybe I should give Camp NaNo a go this year.

So, as ever the issue is what do you update about in your journal when you don't have much to update about? I'm still here in my apartmento and I'm still gainfully employed (hell yeah, whoo!) I have thus far avoided the Rona, although my little bro, and parents have caught it. Fortunately, all were fully vaccinated and have recovered just fine. :O) The power of science.

There's also great news politics-wise (I know, good political news? No wai!), last week we had our federal election here in Australia and joy of joys...the Labor Party won! Hell yeah! Finally the general population woke up and smelt the bushfire smoke among other things and decided to kick the former conservative government to the kerb. In a reversal of 2019's election the state of Queensland actually came through! Unfortunately, there were some serious floods up there earlier this year and I think they finally got the memo. Now obviously it won't be all sunshine and roses, but I feel like we're going in the right direction. A lot of Independent candidates got in as well, including my electorate, which used to be hardcore Liberal (Conservative) voters, so this is also new.

The rest of the world news, is, of course, nowhere near as good...especially the war in Ukraine :O( Beyond the horror of the fact that people are being killed and a country destroyed because of one guy's insane push to achieve a place in history, there's the impact on the rest of the world with the price of everything going up and on a more personal and first world problem aspect there's the impact it has on figure skating. Namely, Russian athletes (subsidised by the Government) are not allowed to compete, which due to Putin's shitty habit of using them to glorify himself, is fair enough. But it does mean many of my favourites are probably never going to reach their potential and compete on the international stage.

Also...my favourite skater now coach, Plushy kind of...came out in support of Putin and is bascially a persona non-grata in the figure skating forum I'm on. There's lots of students in the Academy he set up, including my favourite current skaters, so like...I'm in a strange position where I post about them while ignoring their coach. At first I was fine with that because I was super pissed off at Plushy for being a dick. But...it isn't as if he gets up every day declaring "I love Putin" on social media and I suck at holding a grunge, particularly when I saw that he'd basically become the lightning rod of anti-Russian sentiment in the skating world. There are others who have supported Putin, but Plushy is the only one who's social media is flooded with death threats, "hope your wife gets raped", "hope your sons are killed", "you're the worst person in the world" stuff. Plus, it's kinda of hard to hate someone's guts when you also get glimpses into their life, coaching kids, playing with their son, hugging their dogs and whatnot.

But, I am afraid of doing the wrong thing, of being an apologist and all that jazz, so I keep flip flopping about never ever mentioning him again on the board and...mentioning him. Although, I've kind of already mentioned him, because someone posted about him "getting away" with being a Putin supporter, which I thought was pretty BS considering...you know...all the death threats and stuff.

But wait I did get up to something today, I went to my parents place as did my little bro for lunch. This was a belated Mother's Day/Little Bro birthday lunch, with roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, roast vegetables and a sponge cake I bought from the supermarket. Seriously yummy! :OD There was even a bit of ice cream, noice.

It's always good to hang out with the family, I actually thought we were going to my grandparents place, which I've been hoping to do so I can catch up with M (grandma) because I got her a playing card holder, she has shaky hands these days so we've had trouble playing Canasta together. Guess I'll have to wait until next weekend.

Oh! And I also went ice skating yesterday for the first time in months, I got new skates at the beginning of this year and due to the lack of skating I'm still getting used to them - I think the toepicks are bigger on the blades then on my original skates. Also, it's super crowded and when I first arrived the ice was pretty gritty from all the skaters, but not long after I arrived the Zamboni came out and smoothed everything, so I ended up having a good time. The only downside, I'm still a nervous driver, so I took public transport and it took like an hour and a half to get there and another hour and a half to get back. I really should try and work on my driving, I can do short distances these days - like between my parent's place and my apartment and work and home, I even drove the little bro to his apartment today because alas his car had a problem - but seeing as I have my own car and the rink is a forty minute drive, or maybe less I'd save quite a bit of time if I could drive there.

Anyway, I'm not sure really wanted to read all that, but if you did, good on you!

On that note though I better wrap this up as I left my kitchen a mess and I've really got to work on not doing that, because I'm an adult God damnit (for real, I'm 38 years old o.O)

10:35pm: Because I've stayed up until 2am the past couple of nights to watch it and have only got 6 and a bit hours of sleep, which is has caught up with me and I can hardly keep my eyes open right now. Yawwn!

But yeah, what a big season it's been! There's been the Olympics, upsets and a whole lotta skaters, including a junior lady jumping quads. Apparently there's going to be changes in the scoring system before next season starts so who knows what kind of sheninigans will happen?

And of course, off the competitive scene, Plushy's school has been open for almost a year and lots has been happening there, although alas one of his senior students decided to leave so she could be with her family, which is sad. However, Plushy was just in the Maldives opening a plastic ice rink, which is seriously awesome, if I ever get rich I'm heading over there!

Oh and last, but certainly not least, my favourite pairs team had redemption at Worlds and became the silver medallists after getting the bronze last season. Yaaay!

On the homefront, I can't remember if I've mentioned, but I discovered the other week that Mum and Dad are in fact leaving on their long trip next week! I thought they weren't leaving until May! So now Mrs S and my parental units will be gone at the same time. Bummer! What will I do if I need a sympathetic ear? I guess I could try my grandparents, but y'know, they're of the older generation.

In other news, some Australian cricketers decided to be dumbshits and cheat - or at least attempt to cheat and now our news can hardly tak about anything else. Like, isn't there a war going on somewhere that needs attention?

Yawn, my face hurts from the tiredness so I'm going to wrap this up and hit the hay!

Perhaps I'll start updating this thing more, but well all know my track record on this isn't too good. ;OP Don't hold your breath!

Goodnight all!

10:53pm: Yes! I've been neglecting my journal for most of November, but that's because NaNo pretty much ate up all the free-time I had. Guess my ideas don't flow a fast as they used to, because I barely made it! I had to change my time-zone to do so, but I felt it was fair enough to do that because there was one day where I planned to write, but couldn't because I had a terrible headache, it totally sucked.

Anyway! I got the 50,000 words done, but it typical Moose style I haven't finished the story yet, in fact I'm nowhere near doing so. Honestly me...part of NaNo is dilly-dallying, but I went way over the top with that one, LOL fail.

Anyway, apart from NaNo not a lot happened for me in November, so I guess the fact I haven't updated much isn't a huge loss. Although, as it happened, Plushy ended up going to the GP event and making his big international coaching debut! Which I'm pleased to say I saw live! :OD Yaaay! Although I used up all my mobile bandwidth doing so because I had to watch it at the library during my lunch. Still, it was so awesome! And his student did so well! Coachshenko is a bawwwsss.

Anywho, I can't stay up too late because I need to go to the Mall tomorrow morning - Mum was reading the paper while watching the cricket (because it's waaay too boring to give your undivided attention) and discovered that a giant inflatable flamingo is there this weekend to advertise a pop-up shop. It's 8 metres tall and 8 metres wide! If I'd know it was there I totally wouldn't have gone this afternoon - I didn't go ice skating because I needed to finish up the frosting for the cupcakes I made for the Church's Christmas Dinner tonight (also because I wanted to eat some cupcake batter, LOL!). But since I didn't know I'll have to do it tomorrow before going to M's birthday party. Oh well, at least I went to church this evening with Mum so I'll have time to do that. Hopefully I'll get a photo with the flamingo! I'll keep you posted.

So yes, the Church's Christmas Party was tonight, I went mostly because Mum invited me along (since Dad and I usually go to a different church), it was good although it took aaages for food to be served. I'm not sure how my cupcakes were received because Mum and I were both tired so headed home. I did take a few of the cupcakes with me because I need to give them to Mrs S, her husband and the other carer. Plus I did end up eating two myself, but I had to make sure they were delicious! ;O) I think I finally got the oven ratio right today, so yeah go me!

Oh that note then, I better wrap this up, I missed out on my Russian and Japanese last night so i have to do that! (Not sure if I'll ever learn Japanese, but I should try since my brother does live over there and by extension my niece and nephew live there too! I saw them on Facetime tonight actually since I'm at my parents place for the night and the big bro called.

So yes, I shall be off now, hope you're all well!

Goodnight all!
anonymoose_au: (Default)
11:22pm: But that's not my fault, I had an update all ready to go last night actually, but when I went to submit it, the internet decided to have a fit and not be connected so it didn't post! Then when I went back the update page nothing had been saved like it usually is and by that point it was nearly midnight and I didn't have enough time.

No need to despair though you didn't miss much, unless you think my tale of driving on a nearly empty fuel tank exciting. :OP It did get super low though! Of course, today as expected petrol prices had fallen, grumble grumble. so rude! Sometimes I feel like I should advertise when I get petrol because I can guarantee the very next day it'll be cheaper.

Anyway, moving on, not much excitement this week, in fact less exciting than usual because alas the time difference between here and Italy - where the last Junior Grand Prix event is been held means I haven't been able to watch any of it yet. Which is a huge shame because one of Plushy's students is there! I found out today that Plushy himself isn't there because he's with another student, but the skater in question, a young man, did totally awesome in the short program and is currently in the first! Apparently, he was thinking of quitting at the end of last season because he wasn't skating well and having problems with his jumps, but I certainly didn't see any evidence of that. How cool for Plushy and his team, you go, man!

So yeah, you know you've got an unexciting life when you have to write about someone else's LOL.

Oh, well, I did decided to make use of my fitness app to see how my eating habits are, since I've been gaining weight recently, unsurprisingly I've been eating too much, do'h! Not a lot, but enough so adds up. Guess I have a choc chip cookie eating problem, LOL. Hopefully I can figure out some healthier snack options, because I do get hungry.

Anywaaay, I better wrap this up because time is moving on and I do feel a bit sleepy, need to get the zzzs!

Hopefully I'll have something more exciting to report this weekend LOL.

But wait I almost forgot! This evening had some excitement so to speak - I was meant to meet Mum and Dad for dinner at the Golf Club for their cheap Friday eats. I ended up going to the parental house first to help Mum with purchasing something from E-bay where I found out poor Dad had gone to the Eye Hospital in the city because he was having vision issues! D:

Mum and I ended up going to the club - although it turned out it wasn't cheap fish and chip night, but we shared a regular priced one, LOL - during this time Mum called Dad and found out that his retinas are OK, although apparently he has to keep an eye (no pun intended!) on any further symptoms. He had to leave his car near the Mall and catch the bus into the city, so I drove Mum over to the car and Dad got the bus back so she could drive him back.

I meanwhile headed home, and who should pull up next to me, but my little bro going...somewhere. LOL this is like the first time I've ever randomly gone past him - and at first I didn't recognise him and thought some weirdo was waving at me from his car. But nope! Pretty neat, I must remember to mention that to the parental units.

Goodnight all!

11:46pm: So yeah I've left this a bit late, although it's not like I have anything exciting to report, only that it was really hot and sticky at church this morning, I ended up feeling kind of dizzy...but I guess that could have been from not eating breakfast because I dilly-dallied this morning. I shudder to think what it'll be like in the summer though!

Anyway, after church I went to get some cucumbers from Coles and also look for some sandals - but I forgot to bring along my orthodics, so that was all that helpful.

However, I do have exciting skating related news, our Aussie Man Brendan Kerry has picked up another international bronze! How awesome is that! Fingers and toes crossed that he keeps up his awesome run! And to think back at the Sochi 2014 Olympics he finished last in the SP and didn't get to advance to the Free Skate! I'm sure he'll do much better in South Korean next year.

Also, there was another Junior Grand Prix on this weekend, and I got the surprise of my life when I streamed it and saw one of the young men wearing what I can only describe as a copy of Plushy's 2002 Salt Lake Olympics SP costume! Seriously, no way is it a co-incidence! Ha ha, now I want to know who's the Plushy-fan the young man or his coach. LOL!

Anyway, had a good time a work today, and last night I made lasagna so I had an extra yummy lunch and dinner to enjoy. And enjoyed it I did, especially since I managed to burn my finger while cooking it. Bloody fail that, I think it's even got a bit of a blister on it. Oh dear. D:

But yeah, I gotta hit the hay now, after all it's back to work tomorrow!

anonymoose_au: (Oh Bitch Bitch Bitch)
11:02pm: Right now they're showing the ice show Plushy - and a bunch of other fabulous skaters - is in and I can't find a way to stream it. Boooo! Russian TV is really nice about this sort of thing (or perhaps they're trying to lull me into a false sense of security so they can hack my computer only to be severely disappointed by its content), but Japanese TV is a black hole when it comes to this kind of thing. Oh well, here's hoping some of it ends up on YouTube or whatever.

In other news, I'm confused as to why it's kind of too hot under the doona, but too cold outside the doona. WTF is this? Very annoying.

Moving on, I just realised the other day that I've been forgetting to write my positive note of the day! I'm supposed to be doing that so at the end of the year I can look back and see all the good things that happened in the year. I really must get back on it. I'm not sure if I should try to catch up on the days I missed though...my updates on Dreamwidth aren't really that descriptive so I might not be able to remember! I guess it could be good brain exercise.

Anyway! Work was weird today...in that mid-way through the shift the Librarian on Duty disappeared into the children's area I later discovered that some kid had thrown up down there and the poor Librarian had had to clean it up!!! OMG, I am so fucking glad I didn't get asked to do that, because let me just say no way, no way in Hell. I'd probably let myself get fired first.

Seriously though, the parent probably should have dealt with that, but I think they took the kid home which I guess is fair enough. Suffice to say I didn't go and shelve anything in that area after that.

And I gotta haul butt now, it's bedtime, but I haven't done my Russian yet! At least my writing is going well, yaay! :O)

On that note, goodnight!

11:17pm: Indeed, they had a tendency to slip today when I went skating, which is never good, after all I don't want to fall on my ass!

This time I got there just as the session was starting and aaaah skating on new Zamboni-ed ice is the best! So smooooth!

Speaking of skating, Plushy decided to be the legend he is and resurrect his most famous exhibition program - a strip-tease (panic not, he wears a muscle suit!) to Tom Jones's Sex Bomb. It's as hilarious as it sounds. I'm a bit bummed I didn't try harder to go and see these shows as I'm pretty sure this exhibition piece won't happen again. On the other hand I'd probably die from the thrill/second-hand embarrassment :OP

Still the lesson is...Plushy is more awesome than you. :OP

What else to report? Well, I got my laundry done, a day late and the pizza base so I could make my pizza also a day late.

I'm also thinking I need to get more zzzs - this is a common refrain for me, but I was quite sleepy as I drove home from the ice rink today and you know...driving when sleepy is a baaaad idea.

Which is why I have to wrap this up because I need to get to bed soon and also because my brain is not functioning right now, LOL. I wish I had a clearer head though I want to write more on my fan fic! It's going pretty well, although I'm not entirely sure I've picked the right tense to write it - did I mention this before? I think I started with the present and I keep falling back to the past. Obviously I'm gonna have to check this over carefully if I finish it and put it up. :O)

Anyway, I better be off now, hopefully I'll have a more interesting entry tomorrow.

11:18pm: Yep! I finally got around to going ice skating today! Although they've apparently changed the session times again, luckily I still got my hour - well 50 minutes - but I'll have to keep an eye on that. I think maybe it's changed because they're having ice hockey matches at the rink now, indeed, the teams were there getting ready. They were kicking a soccer ball around outside to warm up, just like Plushy does, which made me LOL.

I also had some awesome luck when I went to the Jay Jays at the shopping centre...the had the white Pusheen t-shirt! And the beanie! Sweeeet! They only had large and extra large t-shirts left, so I got the large, which is a bit long on the arms - because it's actually a long sleeved shirt, rather than a t-shirt. Not a lot I can do about that though because the shirts don't show up on the shops website anymore. I suppose I could go hunting for a medium shirt in another Jay Jays - I think there's one in Chatswood, but I don't feel like driving all over. Also I've all ready worn the large sized one and got some chocolate on it. I can't be trusted with chocolate, I tells you. Also, oversized stuff is in these days, right? :OP

So yes, ice skating! That was fun as always! There were a lot of people with their own skates there today, which was interesting, I wonder if they've all been watching the SBS figure skating highlights too! :O)

Although, I think my skates might need sharpening soon, I didn't move as smoothily as I have been previously...only downside to all that is going to the skate shop takes aaaages. Maybe I should avail myself of the skate sharpening service at the ice rink - although it's not actually on site, you have to leave your skates there and collect them at a later date. Not sure if I want them out of my sight for that long. :OP

Anywaaay, moving along, I have to keep this entry short (again) because tomorrow is Mother's Day and the maternal side of the family is having a get-together at my Uncle Sam's place, which means I can't lounge in bed in the morning.

Not a lot to report, although my feet were sore from work today, I think it might have been my toenails - which I trimmed when I got home - at least I hope so because otherwise that means my podiatrist-designed shoes are not super comfy! At least they were only twenty bucks!

I actually did stop at the clearance shop that's on the way to the ice rink which sells Homey-Peds (which is a brand of shoe for the comfort-seeking shoe wearing), I was hoping I could get a new pair of the shoes I use to have - they were nice! - but alas no luck there.

I also remembered to buy new fish food, turns out the weird bugs in my old canister of food are weevils! Because one of the ingredients is flour. Gross. I'll have to keep an eye on the new canister too, because it has flour in it as well.

I'm also relieved that despite the weevils, Fishenko seems none the worse for wear from the flakes. He's swimming around his tank right now actually.

On that note, I better haul butt, I need to sponge my new Pusheen shirt, damn chocolate bits and then get myself to sleep.

10:28pm: Or at least I do. I dunno if it's because it's that time o' the month or what but I've got some terrible abdominal discomfort and a niggling headache that won't go away despite the fact I took some period pain medication. I hate it when pain relief doesn't work because I can't take anything else for like another hour, by which time I need to be asleep because I have to go to work a bit earlier than usual tomorrow. I sure hope I feel better because otherwise this will suuuck.

Anyway, the get-together with the friends last night went super-awesomely! Except my other friend couldn't come, boo I so should have asked her along earlier, although I'm not entirely sure she would have come anyway, it was a long car ride out there.

Ben's new place is very interesting, it's located directly across from the hospital he works out, he can literally just roll out of bed and get over there in five minutes! I suspects he gives himself more time than that though. :OD

So yeah, I did plan on making this an actual entry, but my discomfort makes that impossible, so instead I'll have to short-entry syndrome you all again. Although before I go you'll all be pleased to hear that Plushy did excellently at his show in Italy, he's got the moves, man, he's got the moves. Note to self: Must go seem him somewhere somehow.

Especially since I made all those cupcakes...now what am I supposed to do with them? Besides eat thme of course....Good thing I went to the gym this afternoon I guess! :OP

On the plus side I did get to watch The World Team Trophy, which was super awesome! I love watching figure skating live, shame I never did it when Plushy was around. Boooo! Although he does have a show in Italy next week, perhaps they'll televise it! That'd be cool.

In other news, I managed to be fifteen minutes late to work today, on a day that the second-in-charge is on shift, of course. Argh damnit, why do I fail at life like that! Whoops...

Apr. 12th, 2017 11:53 pm
anonymoose_au: (Hey! Bitches)
11:34pm: I did plan on updating yesterday, but I had to get to bed early after Monday's night/Tuesday morning's shocking lack of sleep so I didn't. But here I am today, which I'm sure you're all super excited about :OP

Actually, I do have some odd news, I bought up the idea of paying to go on a trip to Japan to see Plushy at an ice show (and you know, see my big bro and his family) and she seemed totally onboard with it! The downside is...Mum and Dad aren't actually going to be there at the time (I thought they would be, but I miscalculated) or rather there will be a show, but it's like a seven hour drive from where they'll be - or a one hour flight, but I'm not made of money, gee!

Now Plushy will be doing a show in China in August, when Mum plans to go back to Japan after my bro's second child is born and she suggested we could catch a plane via Beijing. Which is all very cool except...Mum's going to be out of the country for a month, which I obviously can't do so I would have to fly home by myself. Which...I don't think I can do...not because I'm terrified of the plane crashing but because I don't really think I could go on such a long trip in an inescapable mode of transport without freaking out.

Also...I've kind of remembered that the other carer is going home to see her family later this year, perhaps in August, in which case it'd make life difficult for Mrs S trying to find two carers to replace!

Aaah, I dunno...what should I do I wonder? Ideally I want to go to see a Japanese ice skating show and go when Dad goes as he wouldn't stay anywhere near as long as Mum would so I can get the plane back with him. Or should I like, suck it up or get something to knock me out on the plane (do they even let you do that? What if there's an emergency?) because hey at least Mum's on board with the idea?

Bah! I dunno.

In other news, I took a rather cute photo of myself in my new Pusheen gear, but the photo's on my phone and I tried posting to Tumblr with it (so I could link to it later here) but it wouldn't post. Ruuuuude. But with only ten minutes to midnight I don't have time so you'll have to wait with bated breath. :OP

And the meme as well for that matter, LOL.

Ah well, you can only do your best.

For now, though, goodnight!

11:37pm: In Equador? I'm watching House Hunters International and apparently in Equador (and other places I suppose?) they don't have regular hot water, they just put heating wires around the actual shower head. Like WTF? I don't even understand how that would work without electrocuting you first time. Seems it must though. Crazy all the same if you ask me.

Anyway, not much to report I got to work at Mona Vale today early...real early as it turns out as I wasn't on today! WTF? How embarrassing! I felt pretty silly, especially since I bought a sausage roll for break time before going in. There wasn't any mini-sausage rolls there, but the owner kindly let me have a normal sized one for the same price!

So, once I discovered that I wasn't on at Mona Vale, I realised that meant I needed to do my volunteering! So it was off to Dee Why Library for that. On the plus side, at least that meant I could return the stuff I borrowed there personally because I'm still not sure if returning them at Mona Vale means they'll get checked in that same day. Because Dee Why Library doesn't let staff avoid overdue fees, which is pretty rude when I think about it...

Anyway, the volunteering went OK, although I don't feel like I got as many selections done as I should have, oh well. Once I finished I popped by the parentals on the way home to try looking for my sunglasses, but no luck. While there though Mum gave me some concerning news about my apartment, the agent had actually called me while I was driving to the library to ask for Mum's number so she could tell here something and I found out what it was.

They hadn't actually got the DA entirely approved by council when they were selling the apartments! So instead of a 15 storey tall building, they can only do a 7 storey one! Which means a whole lot of apartments will no longer exist! There's no word on whether mine will be one of these, but seriously what the fuck? I guess that news article wasn't wrong! Buying off the plan is risky. Now if the apartment does disappear we can get our money back, but I'm most irritated because the deposit we paid could have been in our bank accounts gaining interest. Instead the building company gets it! I've heard about that bullshit before, not cool not cool at all.

So, now I have to wait and see what happens.

On the upside I found my sunnies! I turned out I'd left them in the shopping bag with my new swimsuit - so it was here in my room this whole time! How embarrassing - again! I actually thought about that this morning but I'd forgotten where the bag was...so that was another worry until I found it again. But yes everything is back in hand.

Anyway, it's coming up on midnight so I better haul butt, good news, though, Plushy's grand opening of his skating school went super well and there was cake and everything! Yum! Except now I want cake ;O)

11:30pm: So, before I headed off to the gym I decided to go outside and take a look for anything that might have caused the broken bathroom window and would you believe...I found it! A golf ball in the grass very close to the bathroom window. Which means the neighbours behind my granny flat were fooling around and hit a golf ball hard enough to smash my window!

The thing is? Why the heck did they not come over and speak to the landlord? They broke a window! Fucking rude as Hell, man. You can't just break shit and not tell anyone.

Of course, I'm not about to head over there and confront them...I did plan to call Mum to find out what she thought I should I do, but I never got around to doing that. And I still haven't cleaned my house! I totally have to do that...I always say that. I so fail.

Especially considering that I didn't even do that much today, in fact I basically did nothing until I went out to the gym. In fact I probably should have done something with myself because I was feeling kind of down in the dumps today, I'm pretty sure I forgot to take my medication which might explain some of that. Still sucked though.

Well, things will be returning to normal soon though because Mrs S's surgery went well and she'll be back home from the hospital tomorrow afternoon! Which means I'll need to go over to help her unpack and then on Friday I'll be back to work as normal. Which is good news, if I don't have work to do I tend to vegetate here in my house too much.

I'm also cheered up by the fact Plushy is apparently planning some sheninigans - his first foray into coaching is apparently going to involve the 2014 Ladies Gold medalist, LOL, Plushy you crazy. Something to keep me interested in competitive skating since he's not coming back himself.

Anyway, I better wrap this up now, midnight is coming and I need to clean the Hell out of this place tomorrow before Mum comes over to check it out!

Goodnight all!

11:48pm: Yep it was the Short Dance last night which I got totally caught up in and it finished at about midnight so I didn't have enough time to update...

As for tonight, it was an absolutely epic and amazing Men's Free Program, there is no emoticon for what I'm feeling! I'm a bit said that Javier Fernadez the current reigning and two time World Champion couldn't make it a three-peat, but the guys that won really did incredible skates.

I'm feeling a bit shell-shocked though because during the night while I was snoozing away, Plushy decided to officially announce his retirement from competitive skating, which you know, you could have seen coming, but I was still kinda sad about it. I really wanted him to show the haters in 2018, but hey, he seems in top health now a days and really into his new project - the skating school - that it'd be a shame for him to give it up for a pipe-dream. And haters gonna hate, you know.

Anyway, I better head off because even though it's daylight stealings night and we get an extra hour I need to get up early and get to M and Grandpa's house before work tomorrow. The little bro will be coming over too so that'll be fun.

And lastly I finally got to go ice skating today myself, awesome! Although they've gotten ride of discount hour, not so awesome...

So now, I must say goodnight!

11:10pm: Ha ha, no not literally, although that would be nice, no I refer to the Figure Skating World Championships which is out right now in Helsinki Finland! And I'm able to livestream it, hooray!

I've been watching the ladies short program and very exciting news, our Australian skater has made it to the Free Program! Hooray! She really knocked it out of the park, it was awesooooome! Of course, as is common in figure skating the judging is proving weird, some ladies are getting truly unfair scores! Although, I guess I'm not a professional ice skating judge so I'm probably just talking outta my butt.

Although I'm pretty sure even when Plushy got "over"scored he still put on a good show, but I'm sure that's my biased self talking 'cause I'd watch Plushy over pretty much everyone :OP

The last group is about to come on but they have to zamboni the ice first which is why I'm taking the opportunity to update! Not that I have that much to say! Although once again Mum didn't come over to my house after the Scripture classes because it was unseasonably warm today so instead I went over to her and Dad's place with the promise of swimming!

I was rather surprised that we weren't going to the pool at the Retirement Village, but the ocean! I was a bit worried the water would be too cold - I haven't been to the beach this year really and last time I did it was rather cold...

I ended up having to wait for some time before we headed down to the beach actually because Mum's friend Mrs Lampe is back in town (her husband had to have a knee replacement) and she's staying over so Mum and her chatted for a bit, then Mum needed to book tickets to Japan in May to see the big bro and his family so it was like 5pm by the time we finally got to ocean pool! It was indeed quite cool, but I got used to it after a while and it was good times. Man, I haven't been swimming in aaaages.

I was going to stay for dinner, but it's getting darker earlier than usual so I ended up just taking the pie Mum got from the Retirement Village's kitchen (for $10 you get a meal from there) home and heating it up here.

And now, the skating is back on...except the stream I'm using seems to have stopped working! I can never tell if it's because my internet sucks (since I'm an Aussie and all) or if it's because there's a sudden influx of viewers from the US since it's morning there).

Oh wait it's going and the Russians are all in this group so I gotta watch!

Moose out!

11:28pm: And I gotta get my butt to bed!

I'm reporting from the Grandparental abode where I was surprised to find that the Christmas Party is actually happening in the Clubhouse here rather than the one at my parents' place. Why was I left uninformed? On the plus side I won't have to go far to get there tomorrow and Mum and Grandpa decorated the room so I don't have to do that either.

However, it's going to be somewhat awkward with the present situation, I've got my Kris Kringle, but I've also got my presents for the immediate family, but I can hardly give them out and neglect everyone else! Or...maybe I can?

I also forgot to bring the Mega-Bon Bon! It's the one from last year that I've been keeping safe! It's inspired by Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer and is super cute! Actually I was a bit sad at the thought that we'd finally be popping it tomorrow so maybe I subconsciously meant to leave it behind. I did send an SMS to Mum offering to go get it tomorrow morning, but she said it was all right.

So as I said I need to be heading off now so I'm not tired tomorrow, it's sure to be a busy day. I'm just glad I got to the War Vets Chapel on time! It was packed! But the music went really well so yay!

I'm disappointed that I can't watch the ladies free program at Russian Nationals because it starts too late, but then again maybe not...my favourite male skater messed up his program and ended up coming 7th :O( and he was going so well! And just now the pairs team I thought were awesome came 2nd in what looked to me like a clear case of biased judging. So perhaps I'd be better not to watch the ladies live...

However! Plushy started his show yesterday and from the pictures I've seen it. is. awesome. Ah Plushy, never leave the ice. :O)

For now, I bid you all a Merry Christmas and to all a goodnight!

10:47pm: It's really messed up to be honest...the person who's passed away isn't famous or someone I personally know, but one of the administrators of the Official Plushenko Forum, where I get my daily news on Plushy related sheninigans. It's very sad, and came out of left field! I think she must have had an illness of some sort.

So the Plushy fandom is quite sad about this, Plushy himself even posted condolences. So, it's a big thing.

Makes one feel a bit grim.

I was still feeling off in the abdominal area today, but thankfully it seems to have settled down, fingers crossed this continues because tomorrow evening there's a work function that I RSVPed for and it'd be a shame if I didn't get a chance to go.

Also the latest episode of the figure skating anime was on today! There's only five episodes left now - or is it four? So things are coming to a head. I wonder what's going to happen? I am a bit bummed that I can't afford to buy these really cute pillows of the show's three main characters. They're so cute! But aside from being too expensive they're also way too big so alas...

In other news, I took my car in for its service today and bizarrely enough the mechanic said I need to get my back tyres changed, but no mention of the front ones - even the one with the little chunk missing. How weird! But it sounds rather serious - one of them is balding a bit and could be contributing to a strange noise the car is making. So there's a cost for me, not sure how I'm going to cover that...I wonder if I should ask for a gift certificate to a tyre shop for my Kris Kringle gift!

And lastly because it's getting late, I'm most disappointed that I didn't realise my lack of cheese slices, because I didn't have enough to make lasagna! I hope the mince will be all right for lunch tomorrow. I'm sure it will be.

And now, I must be off! (Oh! I did of course go to the library for my volunteering today, the two co-ordinators were giving a talk at an old folk's home, but they left instructions for me and there were cupcakes in the kitchen so that all worked out very well!)

Goodnight all!

11:12pm: So, the latest figure skating competition is in China which means that I can actually watch it!

Sadly I forgot about it so missed my favourite ladies skater, but then I found a live stream from British Eurosport to watch the men and I was thinking "Great!"

However, British Eurosport have decided for reasons unclear to me to declare open season on poor Plushy whenever another Russian skater pops up. Like at first I thought I was just being oversensitive, but it's getting seriously uncool now. I mean they basically accused Plushy of just rocking up last minute and demanding to be in the Olympics at Sochi, which is a huge ass lie.

It shits me because they used to love Plushy, they used to overflow with praise when he skated and suddenly he's persona non grata. That's just shitty, if they had never liked him that wouldn't bother me nearly so much, but to suddenly turn on a person like that is totally uncool.

Although I shouldn't be so pissy, I mean it's not like Plushy is gonna watching the British Eurosport coverage of a Grand Prix Event, and even if he did he probably wouldn't give a shit. But that's what happens when you're a creepy fangirl like myself.

Anyway, moving on, it was hot today! I instantly regretted wearing my long pants to Mrs S's this morning and actually considered going home to change into shorts rather than going straight to the pet shop in Mona Vale. But I decided not to risk getting sidetracked and then not heading to the gym so I just cranked up the air con in the car :OP

When I got to the pet shop I realised that I'm pretty sure I didn't buy the gravel siphon from them because the box it came in had a price sticker on it whereas none of the other stuff in the place had stickers. They did have the same brand of siphon though so I could confirm that mine was the smallest available. One of the clerks though showed me how they got the siphon to work an it was different from how I tried so I'm gonna try it out next time. If it doesn't work, though...well I've probably wasted $14 because I really don't think I'll be able to return it without a receipt.

At least I got to the gym though!

And it's almost midnight so I better head off, I haven't done my Russian yet!

Goodnight all!

10:59pm: He's 34 years old, which was (is) Marge's ages at the beginning of The Simpsons! Which makes me feel quite old...

Which might explan why I felt so crap today, which thoroughly sucked because it started out so well with the sub of the figure skating anime and I was feeling generally good when my digestive system decided to act like a total bitch and panicking.

Which totally sucked especially with Mum being out of the country. Sigh me, pull it together!

I did at least get to the Library for my volunteering, and picked up the final season of MacGyver DVD that I had on hold and the latest Patricia Cornwell book which hopefully won't suck.

I then went to my parents' place to drop off a container and once again hunt for the anxiety book. And I'm immensely relieved to report I found it! Thank God.

Dad came home after 4pm, turns out he still does bus duty and I did plan to go home, but with the abdominal pain I've ended up staying over.

So, I better head off now, with any luck my abdomen will be better tomorrow.

Goodnight all!
anonymoose_au: (Hey! Bitches)
11:09pm: After eleven pm?! I just don't understand now it can be 10:30 one second and the next whossh! Half an hour has gone. Seriously, it's rude!

And especially so when I have to go to bed ASAP because I'm at my parents place and Mum's having a new skylight put in the kitchen, it's actually all ready in but finishing touches need to be made and the man will be over tomorrow at 7am at which point I won't be able to get into the kitchen and have breakfast, do'h!

So, yeah this is gonna be a quick entry, sorry about that. :OP Not that there's a lot to report, just a typical day, however! I did watch some videos of the ice skating from Skate America which is one of the Grand Prix of Figure Skating events. Australia has one male skater competing! He actually went first and despite a fall skated really well!

I'll tell you who didn't go well, though one of the Russian skaters and it was a totally sad sight to see. It was even worse when the two commentators on the video I watched seemed to blame Plushy for it! At least that's what it sounded like to me, although I might be a bit sensitive about that. But yeah, after Plushy got the only Russian male skater spot at the Sochi Olympics and had to withdraw from the individual competition there was a lot backlash even though he was injured, because people suck. :OP

And...I don't have time for memes, but I did have time to write all that about Plushy, LOL, I'm sure you were all interested in that.

Now I gotta dash! Goodnight all!
