10:09pm: Well...not quite, but I figured... what the Hell ;O)

Anywho, I still have to wrap presents for my niece and nephews so I'll have to make this quick!

From not much to report, lots of stuff has been going on as the end of the year approached (sorry for the delay in getting back to you, Vic!), especially as the big bro and family have arrived, hence the need to wrap the present.

Archery continues to go awesomely - although after my last update, there was a change in the handicap rules, namely you need to have a handicap before you compete in one! Which makes sense, I didn't have one, so I think it applied the highest handicap which is how I won! As evidenced by the competition I was just in on Sunday, where everyone contributed $2 and the winners shared the pot. The winners incidentally included me as the lucky loser, which was a bit awkward because the other two people on the last target were little kids. XD I wonder if the rules will change again now!

My mother, niece and I also got up to the Blue Mountains for a couple of nights - we had planned to do it last year, but because of my oldest nephew's fever, they had to postpone leaving for a day so we had to cancel it. But yes, this time we did it and a mostly great time was had be all! Although my niece didn't have a good a time ice skating as I hoped she would. She had taken figure skating lessons, but last year and was most put off by the fact she couldn't remember it all :O( She did end up picking up most of it again, but yeah she didn't enjoy the lesson we had even though the coach was a really nice older lady.

I haven't seen as much of my nephews, but the littlest one - who's only three (I think?) has a lot more words this year which is nice, although he sure likes to run, the little bro, big bro and I took him and my niece to the nearby kids park yesterday, unfortunately while someone was holding open the gate to let their own kid out, the nephew bolted and ended up running across the parking lot! O.o I wasn't fast enough to catch him! Fortunately, the Big Bro (aka his father) was able to catch him before he ended up running onto the beach. I mean daaang.

But I will be seeing them all tomorrow and I definitely need to go and wrap these presents!

So on that note I shall be off and a Merry Christmas to you all!

11:02pm: And dang it, if I'm not improving the last bit there because it's 11pm and I'm just updating this!

Anyway, the good news is the first part of the subject title here is true too! My apartment was clean enough to pass muster with the parental units! Although, maybe they were just being polite, LOL. But hey I also went and bought the pizza and provided mini-Magnum ice creams for dessert. :O)

So yes, a good time was had by all, and the little bro came through getting Mum a present and a card - which totally slipped my mind, so that was well done by him, since Mum only mentioned recently that she enjoys getting a card at least.

OK, so this entry is looking pretty short, but an interesting thing happened today in the Inter Library Loans, a library requested a book that was out on loan to someone and I was about to mark the request as non-supply when I realised...the person who had the book on loan was me! XD So I said I'd supply it and figured I'd just borrow it when it comes back, buuut, it's a short book or at least shorter than the other books I have have on my to read pile, so I'm reading it in the hope I can finish it.

However, I do have to do my Duolingo, and as mentioned it's after 11pm so I should have my butt in bed and I'm not quite halfway through it, ah well, I could maybe just wait for Monday, it's not like the requesting library would know :OP

Anyway, on that note I better head off, although they're at the pointy end of the Mixed Recurve Open at the Paralympics, but I don't think the gold medal match will happen before midnight, I guess I'll have to catch up on that tomorrow. We did have an Aussie team in the competition actually, but we got knocked out in 1/8 round, rather disappointingly since we were in a good position!

I've also just realised that the this week's Junior GP in Figure Skating is probably on, ah well, you can't watch everything.

So on that note, I'm off!

Goodnight all!

11:25pm: I was planning on getting a McFly July (August...er September) drabble up today, but I left it a little too late to start writing it and now it's coming up on 11:30 and I have to get myself to bed very shortly. I blame this rather large biography on JFK (yeah, I don't know why either XD) which I'm only reading when I'm at home because the book's too dang big to carry around, LOL. So I was reading that when I should have been writing.

So yeah whoops.

Not whoops though, is today was my second archery lesson and I'm very excited to report that the eye patch did its job marvellously! Last week I was missing the entire target a third or even more of the time. Today it was way, way less. Woohoo! Although, I'm still the most unco-ordinated archer of the group, but as the lady coaching the "Come and Try" session a few weeks back said, it's not how you go against the others, it's how you go against yourself. And yeah compared to last week, Moose is kicking ass and taking names.

After archery, I went to Mum and Dad's house for Father's Day, where we were later joined by my little bro and Grandpa for lunch. It was steak, potato salad made by my little bro and regular salad made by Dad - although I added carrot to it and it was most delicious indeed. There was even desert - Dad bough ice cream :OD.

Oh and I finished the Father's Day card, so go me. :OP

It was a bit of an interesting meal because the little bro asked how Grandpa was getting along, and Grandpa gave a very explanation of what he's up to regarding the paying of fees to the retirement village he lives at. It's quite a involved thing and he and a group of people at the retirement village are taking the owners to a tribunal because they're pretty sure they've been paying fees that they should have had to.

He got rather passionate about it, which nonpulussed Dad since he's not one for passionate discussions at the dinner table. But we mostly had fun. :O)

Once I got home I was supposed to do more tidying of my house, but instead I pottered around then watched Paralympic archery and now I'm watching the Boulder and Lead Final in Sports Climbing, although as said I have to head off to bed so I'll be turning that off soon. Which is a shame, because it's rather interesting!

But work calls tomorrow, so sleep does too.

I hope to have the drabble up tomorrow though, but don't hold me to that :OP

Goodnight!

10:35pm: Yes! It's my 39th birthday today!

Man that feels weird to type...39 sounds so old! Although everyone assures me it isn't. :OP

Anyway, a good day was had in general, although for some reason after eating yogurt for breakfast today my digestive system was being a butt. This is weird because I often eat yogurt later in the day with no issue, so I'm not sure what that was all about. Very irritating though I was till able to enjoy my birthday dinner :O)

The big bro and his family are here (they usually don't stay for so long but since this is his first time visiting since 2019, they came for 3 weeks rather than 2) so on Mum's advice we went to a restaurant, the same one we went to for M's 90th birthday back in December. Unfortunately, M herself wasn't able to come, but Grandpa did, as well as my Uncle Sam, Aunt Jo and Cousin Mack. My little bro also came even though he usually works Tuesday nights, and Mum and Dad of course. :O)

I also got a lot of presents :OD The Pusheen 2023 Calendar and diary set, Cheezels and chocolate, a set of pencil shaped chocolate and also a bath towel to complete the set I got from my parents for Christmas. Only problem is...I already bought the bath towel since they were on special. So I'm not sure if I should try and return it or what? I don't actually have the receipt for the purchase I made I don't think and while I left the tag on for some reason, I have hung it up in my bathroom, so I guess I should try and return the one from my Grandparents. Silly me.

In other news, I was supposed to take the day off tomorrow so my brother and his kids could visit my apartment, however that's been pushed to Thursday. Which is good in that it gives me more days to clean the place up - I've taken down my Christmas decos but the place still wouldn't pass my mother's inspection. However, Thursday is also the last day my big bro and his family are here! So I was thinking of maybe going over tomorrow evening after work, but that won't give me enough time to finish my cleaning, plus it sounds like they might be super busy? On the other hand, I think only my bro, niece and eldest nephew will come, so I won't see my sister-in-law and youngest nephew. I didn't realise this when I said goodbye tonight, so I was kind of casual about it. Bummer.

Anywho, I better get a move on, I'm trying to get bed earlier these days and I should probably try and do more cleaning!

Oh! And this was fun, when I woke up this morning and said "Good morning" to my Google Home so it would turn on the radio, the Google lady wished me a Happy Birthday and even sung the Birthday song for me! LOL. GOtta love technology.

On that note, I'm off!

6:19pm: The second last day of the year!

I've just got back from the gym and I've recently been looking at old LJs and I'm reminded that once again I've been slacking on the updating.

However, there's not a whole lot to report, or maybe that's not true, because after nearly 3 years my big brother and his family have been able to visit from the Japan! :O) His kids are 7, 5 and 1.5 years old now. I've never met the youngest until now, he can walk but he can't talk, which is normal I think. The other two more than make up for it though, in fact they might talk more than I do (I never thought I'd see the day!)

Just got a phone call from Mum about tomorrow, I'll be going over to my parents place for the evening - they've rented an visitor's room while my brother and his family are here so Dad has somewhere to hide from the chaos. I'll also be going over to my grandparent's place during the day to hang out with my grandmother, so yeah gonna be busy!

Christmas went well! I got some fancy new towels for my bathroom, always appreciated :O) Plus we had a super yummy Christmas lunch! Usually the whole maternal side of the family gets together, but this year we went to my grandparents place only for the morning. But on the 27th we went to my uncle's place - which is currently under renovation - but has a nice big deck out the back which my aunt and her husband also came. More super yumminess!

Yesterday, I went to visit the niece and nephew again, my little bro was also there so we went down to the park. It's a pretty impressive park, it's got a jungle gym along with the usual swings and play ground equipment. The youngest nephew and my big bro popped up later - it was amusing because I saw my nephew first and was wondering how the heck he managed to get there (as I said he's only 1.5 LOL), then I spotted the big bro.

In other news, Mum reminded me during the phone call that in just over two weeks she, Dad and I will be heading down to Melbourne on the cruise ship. I hope I'll be able to stay calm, I did get my fourth booster shot a couple of weeks back so I should have maximum protection. Having said that though, getting COVID even if you don't have much symptoms would truly suckass on a cruise, you have to stay confined to your room! Although at least my parents have sprung for a balcony cabin, but imagine being in one of those tiny ones without a window!

Anywho, I've got right back into The Sims 3 over the past few months, I've created a Hill Valley and populated it with ancestors of our favourite (and not so favourite) characters. I've had to download a whole bunch of hack type things to make everything run smoothly although it's still being a bit hit and miss. I swear my Sims game is crazy, it has an attraction system which I can't figure out the mechanics of, although it seems to be..."Be attracted to be in-laws", like the husband will not have the "magnetically attracted" mood when he's hanging with his wife, but he will have it when he's with his mother-in-law. And in-laws can flirt in the Sims so that's pretty awk! So far no-one's run off with their parent-in-law, but it's still whack.

Also playing with the Tannen family means I've got a family of assholes and it's hard to keep them from totally killing each other. They're even enemies with their own kitten! I've tried to get at least one of them be friends with the cat, but not much luck there. On the plus side, Howard Tannen (Biff's grandpa) at least gets on with his mother. However, I'm trying to get Howard together with his future wife (Biff's grandma the one who yells from the house at him) and it's proving a bit difficult, he keeps picking on his future father-in-law. LOL, what an idiot. And Buford's having an affair which seems on point...

In other news, I'm still without a fish, ever since Fishshenko died a few months back and I found out that my tank's water is too high in phosphate. I have changed the water and all that stuff, but I haven't had the water re-tested yet. I'm a bit concerned about the tank to be honest...it's got algae in it. I cleaned it all off when I did a complete water change, but it's since come back. Once I get a new fish, I won't be able to totally change all the water again so I'm not sure what to do. Should I empty it AGAIN, wash off all the rocks and restart the water cycle again? This might be a question for the internet.

Anyway! I better be off, I won't be able to play any Sims 3 tomorrow so I should get onto that this evening. Also, it's hot in my apartment again so I need to put my air conditioner on actually conditioning - the dehumidifier isn't cutting it right now.

Oh I almost forgot, part of the reason I was updating was to mention this seriously bizarre dream I had last night which involved Mum and I going to some sort of market where Crispin Glover, of all people, had a stand. I spent the whole dream wondering if I should go over and ask for an autography particularly since I happened to be wearing a Back to the Future t-shirt, LOL. Eventually, I got up the courage to go over there with Mum at which point it started pouring down with rain. I think I actually got away with mentioning BTTF and I got my autograph, but then I couldn't figure out how to get back to the train station where Mum was waiting (how we got separated, I don't know). I finally made it to the platform, but it wasn't the right one and then I woke up, do'h!

Right if I don't update before then, Happy New Year and here's to a 2023 that doesn't suck!

11:18pm: Yes indeed. Apart from going on a bit of an E-Bay buying spree this week, I also decided to get a new Sims-capable laptop. I bought it online last night and paid the extra $20 for next day delivery and it arrived today!

It's an Acer Nitro 5, and it's pretty slick, it has a backlit keyboard and you can set the colours! I've made a very nice rainbow effect with it. :O) I'm not actually typing on it right now, since I was watching walkthroughs of Back to the Future: The Game on my HP Laptop while I was loading up The Sims 3 + Expansions on the Nitro. Which I've finished doing now, but since it's almost 11:30pm, there's not time to play it until tomorrow.

Plus there is of course the fact all my custom content is currently sitting on my dead external hard drive and I'm not going to be able to take it to the Data Recovery people for another week when I get Monday off because I worked on Saturday. It did occur to me that I might still have the saved games because I think they were saved in the cloud. But man, it's going to be a bit hard to rebuild my custom content library...Sigh.

I wonder if I'll be able to get my files back when all is said and done. As I think I mentioned in my last entry it can cost up to $2,000 and I don't think there's a guarantee they'd even get the info back! The Nitro cost half that.

Anywho. beyond that, not much else to report, I helped Dad out at church as usual which was good, on the way home Dad mentioned having some steaks he needs to cook so I might go over tomorrow to help him eat it. We were hoping the little bro could come by but I spoke to him on the phone and he's planning on working on his car tomorrow at a friend's place so he won't be available. Bummer.

Also my apartment remains a total mess, OMG I have to pull my finger out and clean it up. My apartment is so nice when it's clean, plus I think my mentality is better when it's clean, I've go this weird issue at the moment, when I wake up suddenly at 2am. I eventually get back to sleep, but it's really annoying and disruptive. Part of it might be the cold, but since it also happens during summer, I think maybe that's not it.

That being the case I better not stay up past midnight like I did last night, so I shall bid you adieu.

9:06pm: I've come to greet you again...

I wonder how many times over the last few years I've posted on here saying that I'm hoping to get back in the journalling game and then never posted again...LOL...probably at least three times.

Anyway, I'm watching Back to the Future Part II on TV right now, and it reminded me of the good old days, when I was young and free and full of stories. I honestly have no idea where my creativity wandered off to. I did start writing a fanfic a few years back, but I ran out of steam and never got around to finishing it. I also gave up on NaNoWriMo. Although I was reminded of it the other day, when I finally got around to fixing all my passwords using one of those password generator apps. It's still going...maybe I should give Camp NaNo a go this year.

So, as ever the issue is what do you update about in your journal when you don't have much to update about? I'm still here in my apartmento and I'm still gainfully employed (hell yeah, whoo!) I have thus far avoided the Rona, although my little bro, and parents have caught it. Fortunately, all were fully vaccinated and have recovered just fine. :O) The power of science.

There's also great news politics-wise (I know, good political news? No wai!), last week we had our federal election here in Australia and joy of joys...the Labor Party won! Hell yeah! Finally the general population woke up and smelt the bushfire smoke among other things and decided to kick the former conservative government to the kerb. In a reversal of 2019's election the state of Queensland actually came through! Unfortunately, there were some serious floods up there earlier this year and I think they finally got the memo. Now obviously it won't be all sunshine and roses, but I feel like we're going in the right direction. A lot of Independent candidates got in as well, including my electorate, which used to be hardcore Liberal (Conservative) voters, so this is also new.

The rest of the world news, is, of course, nowhere near as good...especially the war in Ukraine :O( Beyond the horror of the fact that people are being killed and a country destroyed because of one guy's insane push to achieve a place in history, there's the impact on the rest of the world with the price of everything going up and on a more personal and first world problem aspect there's the impact it has on figure skating. Namely, Russian athletes (subsidised by the Government) are not allowed to compete, which due to Putin's shitty habit of using them to glorify himself, is fair enough. But it does mean many of my favourites are probably never going to reach their potential and compete on the international stage.

Also...my favourite skater now coach, Plushy kind of...came out in support of Putin and is bascially a persona non-grata in the figure skating forum I'm on. There's lots of students in the Academy he set up, including my favourite current skaters, so like...I'm in a strange position where I post about them while ignoring their coach. At first I was fine with that because I was super pissed off at Plushy for being a dick. But...it isn't as if he gets up every day declaring "I love Putin" on social media and I suck at holding a grunge, particularly when I saw that he'd basically become the lightning rod of anti-Russian sentiment in the skating world. There are others who have supported Putin, but Plushy is the only one who's social media is flooded with death threats, "hope your wife gets raped", "hope your sons are killed", "you're the worst person in the world" stuff. Plus, it's kinda of hard to hate someone's guts when you also get glimpses into their life, coaching kids, playing with their son, hugging their dogs and whatnot.

But, I am afraid of doing the wrong thing, of being an apologist and all that jazz, so I keep flip flopping about never ever mentioning him again on the board and...mentioning him. Although, I've kind of already mentioned him, because someone posted about him "getting away" with being a Putin supporter, which I thought was pretty BS considering...you know...all the death threats and stuff.

But wait I did get up to something today, I went to my parents place as did my little bro for lunch. This was a belated Mother's Day/Little Bro birthday lunch, with roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, roast vegetables and a sponge cake I bought from the supermarket. Seriously yummy! :OD There was even a bit of ice cream, noice.

It's always good to hang out with the family, I actually thought we were going to my grandparents place, which I've been hoping to do so I can catch up with M (grandma) because I got her a playing card holder, she has shaky hands these days so we've had trouble playing Canasta together. Guess I'll have to wait until next weekend.

Oh! And I also went ice skating yesterday for the first time in months, I got new skates at the beginning of this year and due to the lack of skating I'm still getting used to them - I think the toepicks are bigger on the blades then on my original skates. Also, it's super crowded and when I first arrived the ice was pretty gritty from all the skaters, but not long after I arrived the Zamboni came out and smoothed everything, so I ended up having a good time. The only downside, I'm still a nervous driver, so I took public transport and it took like an hour and a half to get there and another hour and a half to get back. I really should try and work on my driving, I can do short distances these days - like between my parent's place and my apartment and work and home, I even drove the little bro to his apartment today because alas his car had a problem - but seeing as I have my own car and the rink is a forty minute drive, or maybe less I'd save quite a bit of time if I could drive there.

Anyway, I'm not sure really wanted to read all that, but if you did, good on you!

On that note though I better wrap this up as I left my kitchen a mess and I've really got to work on not doing that, because I'm an adult God damnit (for real, I'm 38 years old o.O)

9:43pm: Man, it's been months and I am shamed that I've neglected DW for so long! My orginal plan was to update on the new year, but er yeah...

However, today is my birthday, so I thought why not update today? Beyond that I was born some time after 9:30pm, so I am now, officially...gulp...thirty-five.

I know I'm as shocked as you are! However, I do at least have a big life event to report, with any luck tomorrow afternoon I will be receiving the keys to the apartment I have purchased (with my parents as 10% owners)!

Yes this Moose will be a home-owner! OMG, indeed!

I think I've described the place before in an earlier entry, but suffice to say I'm quite excited! There's heaps of storage and everything is nice and new. I'll definitely have to take photos to show you.

My parents and I had hoped to get the keys in time for my birthday, but alas it didn't happen and actually things are still a bit up in the air with two last documents to sign! Fingers and toes crossed it can be sorted out tomorrow morning so the keys can be in my possession in the afternoon.

Apart from that life is good, my co-workers got me a cake and a funny card, I got a Christmas Sweater Pusheen ornament for 50% off during lunchtime and I had dinner (with another cake) at a nice club with my parents and little bro this evening.

The only downside of this exciting time is that my job which I'm doing under contract will be advertised soon. With a few changes that is it'll be full-time with a higher pay rate.

Now you might think that's good news, which I guess it is sort of, except it now means that the job is a lot more attractive and competition for it could be quite tough.

The Collections Assistant job is also coming up again, which I'm also planning on going for...but it's less hours and less pay, which is a bit of a worry with the apartment and all.

But, Mum and I are going to work hard at polishing up the resume and my interview presentation. Plus I'm going to keep a record of what I'm doing that fullfills the selection criteria. So more fingers and toes crossed :O)

Ok, better wrap up here since I am sleepy (I woke up an hour too early this morning and couldn't get back to sleep).

Goodnight all!

PS. Oh! I almost forgot, the big bro and his family called me from Japan which was super nice. :O) My neice wished me a happy birthday!

11:40pm: Indeed!

Although to be more accurate I started putting everything away yesterday afternoon, but I ran out of time, plus it was quite warm. I'm glad I did most of it thought because yesterday's warm was nothing like today's "Bloody Hell it's hot!" For real it ended up been 38 degrees C today! Fortunately I was in the library for the hottest part of the day, although the air conditioner seemed to struggle a bit, one hopes that's because it was so hot rather than because it's breaking again. Next week I have to work four shifts, which is great money-wise, but it's still going to be above 30 degrees C tomorrow and I'd rather not die from heat exhaustion while working!

Anyway, I did say yesterday that I wanted to update you a bit on the big bro and family's visit, though I didn't actually get to see him that often! The little bro and I did go over on Thursday and had pizza for dinner with them at the parental abode, which was nice! My niece and nephew are pretty cool, for being under the age of three, LOL. My nephew in particular is a very smiley baby, he's only six months, but doesn't cry all that often, or at least he didn't while I was there! The same can't quite be said for my niece, she really likes hanging out with the big bro aka her father, which is cute!

Now, once again I've run right out of time and I have to get my butt to bed because as I said I've got work tomorrow both with Mrs S and at the library so proper zzzz's are needed!

So on that note, I bid you all goodnight!

11:22pm: But that's not my fault, I had an update all ready to go last night actually, but when I went to submit it, the internet decided to have a fit and not be connected so it didn't post! Then when I went back the update page nothing had been saved like it usually is and by that point it was nearly midnight and I didn't have enough time.

No need to despair though you didn't miss much, unless you think my tale of driving on a nearly empty fuel tank exciting. :OP It did get super low though! Of course, today as expected petrol prices had fallen, grumble grumble. so rude! Sometimes I feel like I should advertise when I get petrol because I can guarantee the very next day it'll be cheaper.

Anyway, moving on, not much excitement this week, in fact less exciting than usual because alas the time difference between here and Italy - where the last Junior Grand Prix event is been held means I haven't been able to watch any of it yet. Which is a huge shame because one of Plushy's students is there! I found out today that Plushy himself isn't there because he's with another student, but the skater in question, a young man, did totally awesome in the short program and is currently in the first! Apparently, he was thinking of quitting at the end of last season because he wasn't skating well and having problems with his jumps, but I certainly didn't see any evidence of that. How cool for Plushy and his team, you go, man!

So yeah, you know you've got an unexciting life when you have to write about someone else's LOL.

Oh, well, I did decided to make use of my fitness app to see how my eating habits are, since I've been gaining weight recently, unsurprisingly I've been eating too much, do'h! Not a lot, but enough so adds up. Guess I have a choc chip cookie eating problem, LOL. Hopefully I can figure out some healthier snack options, because I do get hungry.

Anywaaay, I better wrap this up because time is moving on and I do feel a bit sleepy, need to get the zzzs!

Hopefully I'll have something more exciting to report this weekend LOL.

But wait I almost forgot! This evening had some excitement so to speak - I was meant to meet Mum and Dad for dinner at the Golf Club for their cheap Friday eats. I ended up going to the parental house first to help Mum with purchasing something from E-bay where I found out poor Dad had gone to the Eye Hospital in the city because he was having vision issues! D:

Mum and I ended up going to the club - although it turned out it wasn't cheap fish and chip night, but we shared a regular priced one, LOL - during this time Mum called Dad and found out that his retinas are OK, although apparently he has to keep an eye (no pun intended!) on any further symptoms. He had to leave his car near the Mall and catch the bus into the city, so I drove Mum over to the car and Dad got the bus back so she could drive him back.

I meanwhile headed home, and who should pull up next to me, but my little bro going...somewhere. LOL this is like the first time I've ever randomly gone past him - and at first I didn't recognise him and thought some weirdo was waving at me from his car. But nope! Pretty neat, I must remember to mention that to the parental units.

Goodnight all!

11:01pm: Yes indeed! Not only was this morning the get together for my uncle's birthday (usually it would be for my aunt too as her birthday is actually today, but she's sick so couldn't come), but since I took the day off work I went to my friend's house in the afternoon.

The family get-together was great! I made mini-blueberry muffins and we had breakfast with sausages, toast, eggs and tomatoes (although I didn't eat those :OP) and a good time was had by all.

It was also great seeing my friend again, since I've been slacking on contacting her so it's been like a few months since I've seen her last, despite the fact she lives like only ten minutes away, shame on me! Hopefully, we'll be able to see each other a bit more often, although since I work on the weekends and like to go skating on Saturday afternoons and I've been getting those extra shifts it's harder than you'd think to find a good time.

The only downside of today is hayfever is attacking me like whoa right now...at least I hope it's hayfever, it better not be another cold (knock on wood!) Mrs S will never let me live it down if it is, plus I don't need that shit.

But I think it is, because it all started yesterday when I used the fan rather than the air-conditioner in my car, I think the fan takes in air from outside rather than air that's all ready in the car and I got a face full of pollen because my nose was itchy and runny. Then today it's all stuffy, and my ears are itchy. I've been meaning to use my nose spray, but I can't find it! I'm hesitant to take an actual hayfever tablet because whilst they do work my eyeballs end up so dry I end up with a terrible headache. I may have to give in a take one so I can get some sleep, perhaps it won't be so bothersome if my eyeballs are closed.

Speaking of bed, I have to hit the hay right now because I haven't been getting enough sleep the last few days what with the ice skating and it doesn't take much for a lack of sleep to get to me. :OP Also, it's that time o' the month, grumble grumble.

So on that note I'll be off! But all in all it was a great day, I even got to see the little bro, it's been a while and I was really happy to hear he's given up smoking, yay!

And now I'm off.

Goodnight all!

11:27pm: So yesterday I decided to buy that 2-in-1 laptop from Aldi because, it seemed like a good idea and the parental units were on board. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but...alas it just wasn't right. In that it the screen was too small, so all the text was tiny and even when I tried to zoom in it just wasn't right. Maybe it wasn't related but later in the night I had such horrible headache, seriously, it was killing me!

Also, the screen flickered when I got on Tumblr and the touch screen wasn't quite receptive enough - although I guess I should have expected that one, it's not top-market after all. So I decided to return it, which is allowed, except there was one small issue...the laptop came with a year's subscription to Microsoft Office so I activated it. I think it might be attached to my email now...which means even though I've returned the computer the next person who buys it won't be able to use the subscription! I did go to the Microsoft website to try and sort it out, they told me not worry , though I'm not sure that's true.

I feel bad about that, I gotta say. Maybe I should look into it again tomorrow.

Aside from computer related sheninigans yesterday was a good day! It was a public holiday so I didn't have to get to Mrs S's place until 9:30 and then I finished early and went to the parental abode for lunch with the parental units and the little bro. Not only was lunch delicious, the little bro had some good news, not only is work going well, he's decided to quit smoking. Yay! :OD It seems to be going well for him so far, so fingers crossed that goes on.

I spent the night at the parentals so Mum and I could watch our show - it's a hilarious topical game show, ah we laugh so hard.

Which makes me bummed that for the next two weeks I'll be watching it on my own because Mum and Dad are off to Japan to visit the big bro. Sniff, them's the brakes I guess, I'm sure they'll have fun, I'm not sure if I mentioned but they'll be doing some tourist stuff like going to an onsen.

I really should get going because it's ten minutes to midnight and I've got work tomorrow! I had work today actually, because Mrs S said her other carer wanted to meet me and that I should probably show her a few things and also to help rearrange a room...although the whole room thing ended up being a bust, LOL. Anyway! She was nice and actually said we should meet up sometime because she likes cooking Peruvian food (she's from Peru too) which means I could try it.

And lastly, the fanfic is still going, although now I wonder, if I write the whole thing before I start posting it do I posted it all at once or what? Please advise.

Right, now I really have to go.

Goodnight all!

11:27pm: Indeed! I finally got around to making a card for the occasion! I pride myself on my homemade cards, but I've been slacking on them lately. But I made one for Mum, yaaay! Although not for my little bro, who's birthday was yesterday. I thought I was going to see him at the Mother's Day Brunch at my Uncle's place but alas he's sick and wasn't able to come (sick for your birthday, that suuucks), so I called him to wish m a belated birthday. I left him a message at first since he didn't answer, he called me later though.

Sadly the weather was not very nice today, all rainy in fact when I drove over to my uncle's place it was totally bucketing down, I couldn't even hear the radio over it! Luckily, it let up but it was still pretty dreary.

However, work at the library was still pretty busy because it was Code Club day, which is a monthly computer thing that is popular with kids - there were thirty of them there this time! However, my feet were positively aching by the end of the shift. However, they're fine now...so I don't know if this is a sign of an issue with the shoes or if I'm just adjusting to the orthodics or what? It's puzzling I tells ya! The shoes are stiffer than the ones I had before, so maybe I just need to break them in?

What else to report? Not much, which is good since it is getting late and I should be getting ready to hit the hay and since I'm at my parental units' place I need to get the couch ready to lie on :OP

Before I do that though...drumroll please...a Meme!

Sunday Stealing

:The Getting to Know You Questions:

1. What is your occupation right now? How long have you been there? I have two, three mornings a week I'm a personal carer for Mrs S, I've been working for her for nearly two and a half years now, wow! On the weekends (and a shift here and there) I work as a library assistant in Mona Vale and I've been there for...nearly two years. Niicce.

2. Favorite rock band. Ever. EVER? Man that's a tough one...do The Corrs count as rock? If not I'm gonna say The Beatles.

3. What are you listening to right now?
A house show Mum recorded, we enjoy watching the house shows together on Sunday :O)

4. Last person you spoke to on the phone. What was it about? The little bro, about his birthday and is badly time sickness!

5. How old are you today? Or make up a question. This one bites. Can't think of another question so I'll answer this one, 33.

6. What is your favorite sport to watch on TV? Figure skating for the win!

7. What is your favorite drink? Iced water...or iced chocolate.

8. Have you ever dyed your hair? Nope, I'm too lazy to do it myself, too cheap to have it done at the hair dresser and I wouldn't want to mess it up and be stuck with it!

9. Favorite food? CHEEEEESE!

10. What is the last movie you watched? Finding Dory on DVD.

11. Favorite day of the year? Oooh, that's a toughie, I'll say Christmas, because hey it's Christmas!

12. How do you vent anger? Not well, mostly with yelling and crying. :O/

13. What was your favorite toy as a child? My imagination :OP Also my dollshouse.

14. Living arrangements? (Of course your pets count. Geez!) I live in a Granny Flat with my fish, Fishenko. :O)

15. What was the last thing that you cried about? Uh...you know I can never remember, I mean I remember crying, but not what it was about.

16. Who is the friend you have had the longest? I guess it'd be Edith? But we're not so much in contact these days, so I'll say Zep. We've known each other since I was about 13! Edith too, actually, so yeah!

17. What did you do last night? Hung out online and watched house shows.

18. What are you most afraid of? Throwing up.

19. In how many areas of your country have you lived? What's your favorite? I was born in Canberra and lived with my family for five years in Dubbo, which is in the country and of course here in Sydney. And despite my feeling when we moved there I gotta say Sydney has been the best. (Although Australia's a huge place, and I've only lived on the east coast!)

20. What is your favorite flower? (Ugh. Quite the note to go out on. But hell, we steal the questions. I guess you get what you pay for.) I love red roses! :OP

Okedoke, that's my cue to exit, it's ten minutes to midnight!

11:08pm: Yep, I've been making up a batch after last week's mix up when I thought my friend's house warming party was on! Had to eat most of those cupcakes myself, which could well explain why - according to the scale at the gym - my fat content has gone up. However...my actual weight has gone down, WTF? That doesn't even make sense...or maybe it does, fat weighs less than muscle. Still seems weird to me though.

Anyway! I gotta make the frosting before I go to bed, which is soon!

I've just remembered though that I forgot to call my other friend about coming to the house warming party! Fuuuck, it's probably too short of notice to do it now, but I guess I'll send her a text tomorrow and see if she's interested in coming.

Well, there's been some interesting developments re: the apartment situation, it would seem that we are going to buy one in the building we were originally looking at, as they've offered to sell a studio apartment that's in it at the same amount as the one in the 'Highline'. I'm still wondering if this is a good idea...I sure as Hell hope the builders aren't a bunch of shonks, I don't want to have to frig around with leaky bathrooms and whatever like Mrs S is right now (I have to come in early on Monday for this very reason, grumble grumble.) Hopefully it'll work out.

Not much else to say...although I had quite the busy day! I went to the mall after work and finally got around to buying some new gumboots, there was however a complete lack of Easter eggs, damn those things disappear so fast now! Sucks.

I also got to the gym, which I'm quite proud of since I've been slacking, plus there's probably going to be a fair bit of junk food in my weekend. :OP Plus there were still some eggs at the IGA across the road so I got some of those.

And there was also dinner at Mum and Dad's place, which the little bro also attended, Mum, Dad and the little bro had quiche while I had left over lasagna, delish! The parentals and I also watched Family Feud it was pretty hilarious as Dad kept ragging on the carry-over champion family who not only ended up winning the car, but finally getting the $10,000 Final Feud amount, LMAO. I told him I'd tell you all about this, so there you go. :OP

OK, the dishwasher which I put the beater whisks in has finally finished its washing so I gotta haul and get the frosting made! And then bed!

And uh...I'll get back to those Memes one day! :OP

11:43pm: OK, that's probably quite the exaggeration, but there's a definite chill in the air today, I had to find a cardigan to put on before going to church. (I can't seem to find my black cardigan, I'm sure I have one, scratches head.)

And of course, now that daylight savings has ended (sniff!) it was already dark by the time church ended, boooo. Also it's gonna be dark tomorrow when I finish work at the library, double booo, especially since I can't actually park near the library building anymore. I hope it's not rainy, it's being pouring down on and off tonight.

Anyway, I'm sleepy because as far my body clock is concerned it's nearing to 1am, so my brain is more frazzled than usual (LOL) thus it's difficult to put together a coherent entry, not that I have much to say.

Oh, wait yes I do! The little bro and I finally got over to M and Grandpa's house to talk about the cruise - they had bought delicious scones and even had strawberry jam and extra dollop, yum! Also...a fruit cake of some kind that was made by a friend. So that was cool. Although I didn't end up getting there early enough to start a Canasta game. However, I'll be going over not this Tuesday but next Tuesday which is sure to be fun!

Right, time is getting on so I better wrap this up here, I thought I did have something else to say but I dunno.

So, I'm off to bed!

11:48pm: Yep it was the Short Dance last night which I got totally caught up in and it finished at about midnight so I didn't have enough time to update...

As for tonight, it was an absolutely epic and amazing Men's Free Program, there is no emoticon for what I'm feeling! I'm a bit said that Javier Fernadez the current reigning and two time World Champion couldn't make it a three-peat, but the guys that won really did incredible skates.

I'm feeling a bit shell-shocked though because during the night while I was snoozing away, Plushy decided to officially announce his retirement from competitive skating, which you know, you could have seen coming, but I was still kinda sad about it. I really wanted him to show the haters in 2018, but hey, he seems in top health now a days and really into his new project - the skating school - that it'd be a shame for him to give it up for a pipe-dream. And haters gonna hate, you know.

Anyway, I better head off because even though it's daylight stealings night and we get an extra hour I need to get up early and get to M and Grandpa's house before work tomorrow. The little bro will be coming over too so that'll be fun.

And lastly I finally got to go ice skating today myself, awesome! Although they've gotten ride of discount hour, not so awesome...

So now, I must say goodnight!

Ice Skating

Reach for the laser with Antic's Sims-ulator!
anonymoose_au: (I Don't Know...)
10:15pm: Well, at least I'm getting a good pun in, but in all seriousness this is so fucked up.

As you all know my memory sucks...and this time it's truly ruined my wallet.

I decided after watching the ice skating highlights on SBS that it was time to head to Macquarie Centre and get my skates on. So I'm driving when suddenly police car lights flash in my rearview mirror! I was surprised but thankfully had the presence of mind to pull over rather than keep driving like some of the idiots you see on RBT/ I thought maybe I was getting a random breath test, but after handing my licence over I discovered it was worse...much worse.

I had completely forgotten to register my car!

It expired last Saturday so for almost a week I've been driving around unregistered and uninsured! FUCK! How could this happen?! Why didn't I get a renewal notice?! Didn't I pay for it? (No that was my comprehensive insurance, which is a totally different thing).

The cop was very nice, but that didn't stop him from giving me a ticket for driving unregistered (although, he at least didn't give me one for being uninsured too).

A ticket for $650.

I'll type that out again for you in the back row.

SIX

HUNDRED

AND

FIFTY

DOLLARS
!!!

That's more than I earn in a week! That's nearly three weeks worth of savings towards the stamp duty for my apartment. Two and half weeks worth of rent.

It's an absolutely ENORMOUS amount of money! On top of the actual cost of registration and the CTP Greenslip (which is $900). Add to that the parking fine from a few weeks ago...and the speeding fine...my car is swallowing money like a monster. :'O(

I don't understand why this is happening! I've always been such a good driver! Now I'm speeding, illegally parking, scraping and driving unregistered like a complete loser.

What really kills me though is that for some reason, despite the fact I changed my address for my licence, Service NSW (which includes the Road Department) had my OLD address on file. How can that be?! Although as it turned out it doesn't look like the renewal slip came to my old place because I went there on my way home (I couldn't continue on to the ice rink :O( which was the cherry on top of a completely sucky cake) and the old landlord said he hadn't seen it.

So, the damn fuckers didn't even send it!! What the fuck?! The nice cop said I could ask for a review of the fine and see if they'd waive it, but I don't hold out hope...if they wouldn't take pity on me for speeding 7 minutes before I would have been going 20kms under the speed limit, I don't see why they would for driving unregistered and uninsured.

If the review fails you can take it to court, but like that'll happen! If I end up been found guilty I'd need to pay even MORE, and no way could I stand up in court and defend myself.

And here I was thinking the day was looking good because despite having forgotten to take my lunch with me to work I found my nurse's watch! It was on the shelf in the Returns Room of the library where I put my stuff, it must have fallen out. I was so glad to see it again!

However...that watch cost $7, so...it all pales in comparison.

And to top it all off? Because my car is more than five years old, it needs a safety check before I can register it. And absolutely no mechanic in the area is open on Sunday, there's no way I can register my car until Monday. I have no idea how I'm going to achieve it...I've got a shift at the library on Monday afternoon, so I'm not sure if catching a bus to Mrs S's and then back to the house to get the car and taking the car to my mechanic for the check will work because I'll only have 1.5 hours between Mrs S and the library. Although when I type it out like that....

On the other hand I feel like I need to get this looked at as soon as possible, apparently the check can take 15 minutes, but it all depends, it could end up been 40 minutes. If that happened in the 1.5 hours I'd be stuffed because the shift doesn't end until 6pm when the mechanic would be closed, so how would I even get my car?

So I guess on Monday morning I'll get to the mechanic's at 7:30 - Google says he opens at 8am, but who knows maybe he'll open early.

The thing is, I don't want to tell my parents about this...there's nothing they can do about it and even if they lent me money I'd have to pay it back so it's not like I'd save any money. However...Sunday night is when I usually go over there, but obviously I can't do that, even worse I can't go to church with Dad (either in the morning or the evening) because there's no way to get there by public transport (or at least not without catching two buses). But I'm a creature of habit so what am I meant to say? Although it's just occurred to me I could simply tell Dad (Mum will be away at a hotel) that my car's out of rego so I can't drive it without mentioning the supreme fuck-up that was the fine. I guess that'll have to do.

The other big disappoint is that I was supposed to see my grandparents' and little bro tomorrow morning (to thank the former for the money to go on the cruise and to finally give the latter that huge Ferrero Roche I got just after Christmas and which goes off at the end of this month), but obviously I can't drive there either. I rang the little bro to tell him my woes (he's had fines himself so he was most sympathetic) and he did offer to come and pick me up and even drive me to work, although we hadn't actually asked M and Grandpa if they were available for tomorrow so he called them up to ask, but they haven't got back to us yet, so who knows what will happen there.

Oh...and lastly, my activity tracker is still MIA, I called the library, but it wasn't in lost property, but then again...it's hard to describe, also the shelves are magnetic so maybe it's stuck to one of them. As for the Medical Centre, they didn't answer the phone so I have no idea if it could be there. I was planning to go there tomorrow to look, but...can't do that.

Okay then...let's wrap it up here, I still have my Russian to do.

Goodnight.

11:18pm: On this house show I watch on Sunday night. It's called Flip This House and it follows different flippers (as they call them), but I tell ya the last few episodes have been full of Angry Guys, like all yelling and swearing at each other. Can't you boys just get along? :OP

In other news, I finally remembered to get the box my mother found in M and Grandpa's garage from the boot of my car, although with all the rain that's been going on it hasn't really been that feasible. But the rain finally let up this afternoon so when I finished work and popped home before heading to church I carried it, my cupcake carrier (which I got from Mum earlier) and my box of the first few seasons of The Simpsons (which I'd lent to my Uncle Sam and his family and also got back earlier) into the granny flat.

Mum said there were clothes in the box, but imagine my surprise when I opened it and started to go through to find all these clothes I really like but hadn't been able to find! I have no idea why the ended up in M and Grandpa's garage, among them were my Garfield satin pjs, a few of my favourite t-shirts, a dress that'd been super good for the beach and stuff like that! I'd been wondering where it had got to for ages!

This why you have to be careful where you put things when moving!

Anyway! Grandpa's birthday party was great! Although I was only able to be there for an hour (boo), but I got to see M, Grandpa, Aunt Weed, her fiance Pete, Uncle Sam, Aunt Jo, cousin Mack and my parental units. Good times, good times. Although it was super humid today so that was a bit uncomfortable, good thing I wore one of my sundresses!

Aunt Jo kindly cooked sausages early so I had something to eat before I headed off for work - although as it happened the traffic was good (of course) so I ended up being early. I went to look around the shopping centre and got a call from my friend, Ben inviting me to go to the beach (although it was still pretty cloudy at that time!) but alas I couldn't go. Boo! As it happened the weather cleared up during the day and judging from the photo he posted on Facebook it turned out to be quite a nice day.

Speaking of Facebook photos, some people uploaded photos they took, including the group shot! I'm sure you can spot me. :O) And see everyone seems so tall! I thought my heels were a decent height.

Right, I better be off! I've got work tomorrow morning and I still have my Russian to do before I turn in. Let's all hope my bank card arrives tomorrow! I owe Mum another fifty bucks and Mrs S a hundred (I may see if I can send her that money by direct debit, guess it depends what she wants).

Oh and I almost forgot, I went to my parental units this evening after church (they and Mrs Lampe came so we all sat together) so I got delicious lasagna and salad for dinner. Alas the little bro was meant to come, he also missed the party this morning, but he wasn't up to it - apparently he partied a little too hearty last night.

For now, though, goodnight!

10:38pm: The Secret Life of Pets that is! They were showing it on the cruise actually, but I kept missing the start or the end and on the day it was shown on the big screen on board it was Dad's birthday and thus I didn't get chance to watch it then.

And when I got back home all the copies at the Warringah Library were out so I figured I wouldn't get it for a while, but a copy came to Mona Vale Library so yay!

But yes, I wanted to see it mostly for the sausage dog, LOL I love those little dogs, they're so funny looking.

Although there sure turned out to be a lot of property damage in this film!

And now...the end of the trip... )

So that's it! Suffice to say when they emailed me the link for the survey I gave them a glowing review! And perhaps someday when I have enough hours of work a week I can save up for another cruise! And this time I'll keep a journal of events as they unfold.

But! For now, I must be off, I've got a shift at the library tomorrow so I can't stay up super late! Plus I need to finish my cleaning I've made quite a dent in it but more needs to be done. So wish me luck with that!

9:52pm: Actually, I don't know if that's true, but it feel like it should be, I mean...red in the bathroom? Just sounds wrong. Although there was another bathroom in the house in question that had green wallpaper, I was on board with that! :OP

Just to clarify, I'm watching my house shows, I'm not actually looking at houses myself - although I'm reminded that I think they might have finished the display suite of the apartment building I've bought off the plan, I should find out for sure and then the parental units and I can go visit it!

Also, is a weird that the dude in this current house show wants elements of the Pacific Northwest in the house when he and his fiance are in fact on the east coast, wrong side of the country, my good sir.

Moving on, the get together looks to be going ahead tomorrow evening/night, yay! The only problem is my friend hasn't replied to me about whether he's going to the party at 4pm - which means I'll have to take public transport there because I finish work at 5pm - or later. I wonder if he's not getting my messages over Facebook, I'd assume so though. I guess he's thinking about and will get back to me.

But, for now let's return to the past...to...

The Last Full Day and Night of the Cruise )

Right! There is of course the last morning, but...it's getting late and since I'll be having a quite a big day tomorrow so I better wrap this up. Not sure if I'll be able to update tomorrow, but if I don't, I'll tell the last part of the cruise.
