anonymoose_au: (Hey! Bitches)
11:12pm: Yep, I was hoping the weather people had dropped the ball on their predictions (it happened a couple of weeks back) but nope, it looks like it's going to be a very wet weekend. To which I say boo, because I wish to go ice skating and I probably need to get my blades sharpened which means driving and I'm a little leery about driving in the pouring rain. Especially since some of the roads I take are prone to flooding with this sort of weather, I guess I'll just have to cross my fingers.

Also...the weather was deceptively clear when I got home from doing some shopping today (after finishing up at Mrs S's place) and it was sheet washing day so I put them on and headed for the gym. However, a little over halfway through my work out it started absolutely bucketing down! So I had to do some creative sheet hanging because I can't put them on the line. Which is bad news because I don't have any room anything else so no clothes washing today...I really hope I can get everything done and dry by Monday.

What else to report? Well, I did briefly buy a Bamboo Spark which was on special at Aldi - it's been there for a while and it looked interesting. I have a Bamboo One but it's weird to draw on because you can't actually see what you're drawing on the thing itself, it appears on the laptop screen and it's a little disconcerting. When I got the Spark home though I discovered there's an app for tablets and smartphones that lets you draw on the screen and it's free! The Spark is a little weird...in that you actually draw on paper with a special pen which then sends the strokes you made to an app, so there's still a bit of disconnect. Plus it was sixty bucks, and I'm not meant to be spending money on extraneous stuff, so after the gym I returned it.

The only downside to the app is that my phone screen is too small for it to really work properly and my tablet is a bit too old - on the other hand it could just be the stylus I'm using...might need to check into that. So I might just have to stick with the Bamboo One after all that. Pft, fail.

On the fan fic front, I'm most relieved that while working at Mrs S's today I found a way to move the story forward, phew! I was getting bogged down and the headache I had last night wasn't helping at all. Of course, having a story idea while working isn't very helpful because I couldn't write it down, but patience is a virtue, or something. :OP

So, it's getting late and thus I better head off, I only have one other thing to report...the handle decided to break off my regular sized pot, do'h! Now I need to find a new one, but should I splash out and buy a new set of pots? Or just replace that one? Any advice on this matter would be appreciated.

And now I shall be off!

Goodnight all!

11:36pm: So I've got this solitaire app on my phone that has a daily game, which often takes me a while to solve, I have to do a lot retries, but the one from yesterday is currently being the biggest pain in the ass. Seriously, I can't figure it out! And I even watched the "This is how you win this hand" thing. Very annoying.

So the rain has finally decided to show up, which is a problem because it's sheet washing time, but I can't hang them on the line and I've got no place to hang them here in the granny flat so I'm not sure what to do. I guess I'll just have to wait until the sun returns but in the meantime leave them in the laundry basket.

What else to report? Not a lot! I Although the landlord did come by this afternoon to tell me that he's arrange to have the concrete in front of my granny flat replaced - I didn't think it was looking too bad but it does have cracks in it. He thought perhaps it'd be happening this weekend, but the weather being as it is I have a feeling that won't be going down! He also seems to be thinking about getting an awning put it, which if that actually happens I'll definitely need to pay more rent! I also need to spend the night over at the parental units when the concrete is poured because obviously you can't step on it when it's drying.

Anywho! I better be off, as always work calls tomorrow and I certainly don't want to stay up too late, depending on the weather I might go skating tomorrow but if it's pouring I'll probably forego it 'cause the roads I need to take look like they'd have a tendency to flood.

So on that note, goodnight!

11:27pm: Indeed! I finally got around to making a card for the occasion! I pride myself on my homemade cards, but I've been slacking on them lately. But I made one for Mum, yaaay! Although not for my little bro, who's birthday was yesterday. I thought I was going to see him at the Mother's Day Brunch at my Uncle's place but alas he's sick and wasn't able to come (sick for your birthday, that suuucks), so I called him to wish m a belated birthday. I left him a message at first since he didn't answer, he called me later though.

Sadly the weather was not very nice today, all rainy in fact when I drove over to my uncle's place it was totally bucketing down, I couldn't even hear the radio over it! Luckily, it let up but it was still pretty dreary.

However, work at the library was still pretty busy because it was Code Club day, which is a monthly computer thing that is popular with kids - there were thirty of them there this time! However, my feet were positively aching by the end of the shift. However, they're fine now...so I don't know if this is a sign of an issue with the shoes or if I'm just adjusting to the orthodics or what? It's puzzling I tells ya! The shoes are stiffer than the ones I had before, so maybe I just need to break them in?

What else to report? Not much, which is good since it is getting late and I should be getting ready to hit the hay and since I'm at my parental units' place I need to get the couch ready to lie on :OP

Before I do that though...drumroll please...a Meme!

:The Getting to Know You Questions:

1. What is your occupation right now? How long have you been there? I have two, three mornings a week I'm a personal carer for Mrs S, I've been working for her for nearly two and a half years now, wow! On the weekends (and a shift here and there) I work as a library assistant in Mona Vale and I've been there for...nearly two years. Niicce.

2. Favorite rock band. Ever. EVER? Man that's a tough one...do The Corrs count as rock? If not I'm gonna say The Beatles.

3. What are you listening to right now?
A house show Mum recorded, we enjoy watching the house shows together on Sunday :O)

4. Last person you spoke to on the phone. What was it about? The little bro, about his birthday and is badly time sickness!

5. How old are you today? Or make up a question. This one bites. Can't think of another question so I'll answer this one, 33.

6. What is your favorite sport to watch on TV? Figure skating for the win!

7. What is your favorite drink? Iced water...or iced chocolate.

8. Have you ever dyed your hair? Nope, I'm too lazy to do it myself, too cheap to have it done at the hair dresser and I wouldn't want to mess it up and be stuck with it!

9. Favorite food? CHEEEEESE!

10. What is the last movie you watched? Finding Dory on DVD.

11. Favorite day of the year? Oooh, that's a toughie, I'll say Christmas, because hey it's Christmas!

12. How do you vent anger? Not well, mostly with yelling and crying. :O/

13. What was your favorite toy as a child? My imagination :OP Also my dollshouse.

14. Living arrangements? (Of course your pets count. Geez!) I live in a Granny Flat with my fish, Fishenko. :O)

15. What was the last thing that you cried about? Uh...you know I can never remember, I mean I remember crying, but not what it was about.

16. Who is the friend you have had the longest? I guess it'd be Edith? But we're not so much in contact these days, so I'll say Zep. We've known each other since I was about 13! Edith too, actually, so yeah!

17. What did you do last night? Hung out online and watched house shows.

18. What are you most afraid of? Throwing up.

19. In how many areas of your country have you lived? What's your favorite? I was born in Canberra and lived with my family for five years in Dubbo, which is in the country and of course here in Sydney. And despite my feeling when we moved there I gotta say Sydney has been the best. (Although Australia's a huge place, and I've only lived on the east coast!)

20. What is your favorite flower? (Ugh. Quite the note to go out on. But hell, we steal the questions. I guess you get what you pay for.) I love red roses! :OP

Okedoke, that's my cue to exit, it's ten minutes to midnight!

11:54pm: So when I got back to the Granny Flat today before heading off for my shift at the library I went to have a shower and discovered...

My bathroom window had a hole in it! And shards of glass had fallen out and ended up on the floor, I did my best to vacuum it up, but managed to miss a bit and step on it, ow! I had to put a band-aid on it and everything. I have no idea how it broke? It almost looks like someone threw a ball, but the weather has been rather wild so perhaps something got blown into it...

So now, I've got this hole in the window, just as the weather is starting to cool down! Plus I've totally slacked on cleaning the place so I wasn't able to notify the landlord because I didn't want him coming in and seeing the mess. I'll have to get a move on with that, though, because I really must get it fixed and perhaps my dripping taps while I'm at it.

So, that was my excitement for the day! :OP Beyond that my shift at the library went well, except of course it's getting dark by the time I finish work now, booo. Didn't help that the weather remains crappy with rain on and off. Man, if these clouds don't clear up Professor Brian Cox isn't going to see shit in the sky.

Right, it's almost midnight and I have to clean up the place tomorrow and whatnot so I better get my butt to bed now.

10:26pm: Yep! The World's continues with the Men's Short Program! (Also the Pairs Free Skate, but that's on way too late for me to watch, in fact I think all the Free Programs will be on too late, which suuuuuucks)

The Australian, Brendan Kerry is next up so I'll have to make this another quick update. It's very exciting, he's been doing so well this year, I'm hoping he'll do really well. The competitions been pretty exciting so far, lots of different music, some of it pretty funny!

Anyway, like I said I have to make this quick, not a lot to report today, except it rained and rained hard! After it was so nice yesterday! I left my towel and swimsuit on the line so they were soaked through, I brought them in, but they're still wet...

There was also a Hell of a downpour while I was driving up to the gym, yikes! Fortunately it didn't get as heavy as that at any other time like when I was driving to my shift at the library, because that would have been scary!

I managed to get to the library, but I stepped in a puddle and got my socks all wet which meant I had to take them off, like that didn't suck or anything. Also, we thought perhaps it would be a quiet shift, with the rain keeping everyone away, but nope!

Interjection: Brendan Kerry is skating like a boooooosss! Come on, you can do this and qualify for the Free Skate!

And he has, wooooohooo!

Right, yes, as I was saying we though it was going to be quiet at the library, but nope, everyone decided to bring their kids in after school so it actually became a bit of a madhouse for a while! Fortunately people left in good time so we were able to leave and the rain wasn't too bad.

I did notice that my umbrella (the old one, I still haven't got my little one back from my friend) has little holes in it though, which is not very helpful! I did consider buying another one, but there wasn't anything available, guess I should have expected that.

But, yes all in all a good day and now I must be off, the rest of the Men beckon!

11:35pm: Well this is weird, usually I get a sore knee before that time o' the month...but not this time. Man, it's quite sore and I have no idea where my knee brace has got to.

Moving along, today was the interview and I'm not entirely sure how well it went...I think I spoke way too quickly to be honest, I was a lot more nervous than I thought I would be. Man, I borrowed that book on being assertive, but I hadn't actually looked at it which you know...was not a good idea I suppose.

Also, I'm a bit concerned that if I do get the job I'll have to leave Mrs S, because it looks like they'll want me to come in on Monday mornings, and I don't think Mrs S would go for another change in days and times, especially not if she's going with this new agency. That wouldn't be so bad I suppose, except it would mean I'll just end up with the same hours I all ready have instead of more! But maybe they'll be flexible? I mean it's five hours three times a week, which I can do even if I do work in the mornings, because I finish by 12:30 and the library closes at 6pm, so if I get there at 1pm...

Oh well, they're hoping to get back to people in the next week, which is a bit bad for me because I won't be here! On the other hand, it is Council, so who knows how long they'll take. :OP

Anywho, it's late now and I have work tomorrow so I must be off! I will say one thing, the weather has turned around completely! It rained heavily for most of the day...although it did at least let up on my way to the interview.

However, I did manage to break the bottom of my umbrella! I think I've managed to fix it, but damnit, this happened to the last one. I really hope this one keeps it together. I don't wanna buy another one, they're expensive. :O(

BOOM!

Feb. 1st, 2017 11:37 pm
anonymoose_au: (Default)
11:30pm: Right I was going to update this thing with something more substantial then I have done the last few days, but a big ass thunderstorm decided to roll through and shut off the electricity so I'm updating from my mobile like an animal.

Anyway suffice to say things did not go according to plan as I somehow missed that I was on an afternoon shift at the library today. At least until I received a call asking where I was! Good thing I live close by! I was still an hour late though, do'h!

Anyway, I am at M and Grandpa's now so must head off so I can get up on time for our Canasta battle.

Wish me luck! Goodnight all!
anonymoose_au: (Hey! Bitches)
10:44pm: I've got the photo of my dress that I wore on Sunday! Not through Photobucket that's still acting-up, but here's the link, which will hopefully work! What do you think of the shoes? Like I said 10 bucks from K-Mart.

Moving along, guess who popped in today to pick up something...Mum! Ha, figures. Although, I've been keeping the place pretty tidy so I was able to make it look pretty decent by the time she arrived. I even got to show her my new folding style, it is indeed looking mighty fine. :O)

Anywho as this morning I headed off to the Mall to do some Christmas shopping. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any 60s cocktail music, dang. I tried looking up the flower bloom thing on my mobile, but its battery was running out again plus there's no nursery in the Mall so I wouldn't have been able to get it anyway.

I did get Mrs S's coffee machine, although for some reason they only had red colour ones left, which is weird because the one Mrs S took a photo of was silver, but even when the cashier looked it up in other shops...only red. I still bought even though Mrs S really wanted it in silver, but it's very fancy and looks like it'll be easy to use so....

I did buy my little bro's gift and after some hunting about managed to find a picture book about Australian animals for my niece, but I still need to get something for the big bro, Eri, Mum and Dad. Which has made me realise I have no idea what Eri would even like! I'll have to ask the big bro about that.

After getting home I did some laundry before heading off to the gym and I planned to wash my car, except someone had parked in the spot right outside the house so I couldn't because the hose will only stretch so far. However, as Mum was leaving we found that the car had left so the washing was on!

And of course...not too long after I finished up there was a thunderstorm, grumble, grumble. I have found that generally if you wash your car before it rains the rain doesn't leave spots all over.

After the storm things took a different turn when Mum called to remind me about the contracts for the Newtown parking spot and the studio apartment. I was meant to sign them - one in front of a witness so she can take them to the solicitor some time and that time is tomorrow! So, I ended up going over there for that, the big bro had one of his friends over and she was nice enough to be the witness. I also got to see the niece, she seemed very intrigued by my stripey green shirt and green watch, LOL, perhaps she'll love green too! :O)

Still haven't picked her up, but I did giver her hug and even read The Hungry Caterpillar to her, but I don't think she was all that interested LOL. I love the Caterpillar though. :O)

Ah bugger I'm recording Cold Case but the storms have come back and interfering with the antenna. Damn, hope I have this episode, but I guess it'll come back on.

Right, I better wrap this up, work is on tomorrow so I better not stay up too late.

10:29pm: There was just a huge thunderstorm here in my suburb (and surrounding areas I assume), with flashes of lightning and bolts across the sky with big gust of wind and rain pelting down. I got a bit scared I have to say, I've never been a fan of lightning, although at least unlike last week I wasn't in my car at the time Still it was the sort of storm that makes you realise how easy it could stop a clock or send a DeLorean back in time. ;O)

Moving on, I'm wondering if I should send my application in for the temporary job at Mona Vale Library tonight or wait for tomorrow. I've pretty much written the cover letter and everything and I do wonder if waiting until the last day is bad form, but on the other hand I'm not sure it actually is ready. although as it turns out my mother might not be able to come over tomorrow after all (it seems she forgot that I work Friday mornings) so it's not like I can show it to her. I did think about calling the person on the ad though ust to see if they're looking for anything in particular or at least make sure they know that I'm interested!

Anywho...what else to report? Well I did my volunteering today, which was good, I caught the bus and actually read my book! (Usually I end up looking at my mobile instead :OP) I did get a bit concerned when I realised I'd managed to leave my drink bottle back at the Granny Fat but thankfully it didn't end up being that hot.

I can't think of what else to write, so here let's have a meme before a wrap this entry up.

Memes please! )

That's right I remembered another important and not so good news I received today...my rent hasn't been coming out of my account! No wonder I've had so much money lately! And now my savings are horribly depleted. Son of a bitch. Good thing I had it though... still that sucks. :O(

11:08pm: So somehow I ended up looking at the very early entries of my journal...waaaay back in 2004 - more than 12 years ago now! And man, I used to drive a lot and also see my friends a lot more often...

Which, I think might be the crux of my issues these past couple of days...I've been all isolated! All by myself! When I first started my journal I had many friends reading it and I got quite a few comments, and when that wasn't happening I was on AIM chatting away. And of course, I actually saw my local friends too.

No wonder I've felt so lonely, lately :O/ I haven't seen a friend since...late April - well not including the few minutes I spoke to one at Target, she was at work though so not much could be said. Now admittedly two of them are in far flung places now, but there's the others. Shakes head. Terrible effort on my behalf. I should make some calls tomorrow...perhaps I can have a house warming party when I get into my next Granny Flat.

I'm feeling rather better now, today I went to my parents' house with plans of having lunch with my father. That didn't end up happening, because he'd gone out and forgotten to take his mobile phone so I wasn't even able to call him and tell him I was there! However, Mum called so I got to talk to her, which was nice, I guess I do speak to Mum a lot so having not done so in a few days obviously bummed me out too.

And of course, Dad eventually arrived back home and although we didn't eat lunch together - I wasn't hungry and he'd had a late breakfast - we hung out for a while, so that was nice. :O)

Anyway, not much else to report and I need to get myself to bed, because as I've been saying these past few days I haven't been getting the proper amount of zzzs! This can't be helping my mental state and whatnot.

Before I go, I'm rather relieved to hear that apparently the weather is supposed to clear up on the weekend, fingers crossed it does because I didn't actually do my washing today because it's been raining on and off so I need to get that done tomorrow!

Anyway, off I go now.

anonymoose_au: (I Don't Know...)
10:32pm: I do! I got an email this morning confirming that I'd been chosen as the new tenant and requesting I send a week's worth of rent as a deposit at which point they'd get on with drawing up the lease. So that's a relief!

However, the second part of my title is not so fun :O( I was reading some of my old stories to try and get into the mood for Camp NaNo, but all the seemed to do was make me sad! In fact, I ended up feeling so sad that I actually cried!

Although, I'm actually not all that certain that it was the stories that made me sad or the applying for this library job. Now, I'm sure you're all thinking to yourself "Say wha-? Shouldn't you be excited about this?!" I thought so, but alas...I'm not sure if it's the job for me. Being a Librarian sounds like too much responsibility for me and I'm kind of worried I will get the job and then not be able to do it! At which point I'll be all sorts of screwed because obviously I won't have my job with Mrs S anymore and will have like $14 to live a week with only my part-time library assistant work left. Which I guess is pretty stress inducing.

I'm also worried because Mrs S mentioned to me this morning that she's asked the back-up carer to fish around for anyone who might be interested in doing the five days. She's assured me that if I don't end up getting an interview or anything nothing will happen, but I'm still sort of concerned I might be shown the door. Not that I can blame Mrs S because if I leave she needs someone all ready trained up to replace me, which means starting before I actually get another job. But with my track record this isn't a fun prospect for me.

Let's hope that things turn out for the best.

Now, I was feeling nostalgic and all and so decided to look at my earliest journal entries, but it's not like I've changed all that much in personality. :OP I did however see some interesting things...for example I was big on the Random Meme Generator things - are they even around anymore? - and the first one in this entry caused me much amusement. I rather excitedly went to the date in question to see if I did in fact do anything legendary only to find...all I did on that day's entry was catching up on Memes.

I also stumbled along a meme that said I'd die on 12th August 2017! Obviously, that's not to be taken seriously, but I rather hope I'll remember that so I can see what happens on that day instead. It also, funnily, enough links back into my stories because in my Back to the Future stories 12th August is George and Lorraine's wedding day, LOL.

Maybe I'm also a bit bummed about the loss of the BTTF fandom, the official site got rid of the message boards! Just deleted them, like that! Which in all honesty is pretty uncool, people devoted a lot of time to that and as far as I recall there wasn't even any warning. Although to be honest it shouldn't be a surprised, because a few years before that happened the powers-that-be there got rid of the fanfiction section of the board without so much as a by your leave. Uncool.

Oh dear...I'm watching Wimbledon the Fed-Ex is in the Quarter Finals, but he's not going well having lost the first set! That's alarming! Come on, Fed-Ex!

On the other hand there's in one of the other quarter-finals the Sleeve is there - except he's not wearing his sleeve these days, so I'll have to call him by his name Milos Raonic and he won his first set so that's a relief at least!

Still, come on, Fed!

I can't stay up to watch much more of this game because bed calls. I'm slipping into bad habits re: not gettng enough zzzs and I can't let that happen.

And dang, the weather people got it right and now the rain is coming down....I wonder if it'll keep on to tomorrow, which if so will suck because it's towel washing day at Mrs. S's.

And I've set my TV to turn off in half an hour, but I've changed over to Le Tour because when Fed-Ex isn't going well I feel like I'm bad mojo to him!

Anyway, enough babbling, I bid you all goodnight!

10:30pm: Gee, it hasn't rained for some weeks and now the weather has gone absolutely nuts! Not just rain, but wind, it was bad enough that when I woke up this morning there was no power! I didn't actually realise this until I looked at my mobile phone and saw an SMS from the landlords telling me about it at which point I noticed my DVD player and vacuum cleaner had no lights on them. Fortunately, this didn't mean I couldn't have a hot shower, it did prevent me from having breakfast though. I ran out of milk last night and had figured I'd just have toast, but obviously I couldn't do that.

I also couldn't go ice skating, the wind and rain were so nasty I was sure that at some point along the road there'd be an accident or a flood or a tree down. But without any power and the place rather dark from the clouds staying at the house wasn't really feasible either, so I decided to leave really early and do some shopping that the Warriewood Square and perhaps have breakfast. I did the former, but not the latter because I couldn't see a single place to get a crossiant! I did discover that the new section of the Square - with the Aldi is set to open on the 23rd. How exciting!

I'm still bummed about the ice skating though..

Eventually I headed to Mona Vale and the library because I didn't want to be caught out with parking again, but there were no crossiants to be found there either, so I had a hot chocolate before entering the library building early and reading my book until it was time to start.

Despite the management system and catalogue being off-line for the day everything turned out pretty well, although I was quite hungry after a while since I didn't have a proper breakfast. Good thing I bought a good lunch then!

However, things went rather pearshaped on leaving, all day my co-workers had worried about how they'd get home, I thought I'd be fine, but since the morning nearly all of the roads that lead up to where I live at the top of the hill had been flooded and there was no way to get through! Which I didn't realise until I got to each of them one by one - I looked on the Live Traffic NSW website, but no mention was made of those particular streets at all! Thanks for nothing website! I started getting rather anxious and called the parental units who were able to calm me down...even as I went to the three roads I use to get up the hill and found each one closed.

Finally, the only way to get home was via Mona Vale Road, the one road I'd avoided because it's quite narrow at the point I need to drive and there's hardly any light up there, but there looked like no other alternative, I could have tried to get to my parents place perhaps, but I didn't have any clothes to wear to Mrs S's tomorrow.

So, with Mum's encouragement up the narrow road I went and I was finally able to get home! And much to my relief the power was back, phew! I would have been really screwed otherwise.

In non-transport related news, I wore the purple shirt today! Alas, I'm either going to have to extend its length by sewing extra pieces around it so it'll have a seam in the middle of it or make a whole new shirt. I do have a shirt that has a seam across it's middle, although the lower parts has a stitching design of sorts that I don't think I could do because I find it hard to sew straight. Although it would be the cheaper option...

In the meantime I solved the too-short problem by buying a purple tank top to wear under it, although it still looks kinda weird. My co-workers at the library thought I looked pretty sharp though, so there's that!

Anyway! It's past 11pm now, so I better Meme and wrap this entry up since I need to get to bed.

I am slightly worried that the roads might still be inaccessible tomorrow, in which case getting to Mrs S's place is going to be hard. Fingers crossed that the rain, that's still being coming down on and off will be mostly off!

Bring 'em on! )

10:57pm: And it's pretty bad! And here I was thinking yesterday that the weather people had been incorrect, since they had said there would be rain all the way from Thursday to next Tuesday and yesterday it was surprisingly clear. But then the rain began last night, at points it was hammering down on the roof. And to add to that is the wind, it's been blowing a gale out there! This does not bode well for tomorrow morning and my ice skating plans. My car is quite small and there has been times when I've been driving it in and the wind has blown very strongly and I've felt like it was going to push me off the road! I really don't wanna drive for 20kms in weather like that!

But I missed out on ice skating last week! And I bought new tights to wear and everything...so fingers crossed it'll be a bit calmer tomorrow, but I dunno, apparently there's meant to be a big storm, I didn't watch the news, but I just checked the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) and apparently the winds will go right down to go away late morning. Fingers crossed.

As it happened this morning the crappy weather wasn't enough to keep people away from the shopping centre in Mona Vale. In fact the reverse happened, the place was utterly crowded to the extent there was no parking spots to be found. Not out on the street (although you're not supposed to park there for more than an hour before 12:30 on Saturday anyway), not on the upper levels of the shopping centre and certainly not in the underground car park. And I was already running late! It was terrible! I had to call the Library and fortunately one of my co-workers answered so they at least knew I was on my way. In the end I had to park on a street quite a way from the library and ended up with soggy boots walking to the library. And...of course I ended up seeing a spot in the bloody underground car park as I walked through it. It was too late by then though! I did at least get a ride back to my car after work with one of my co-workers, although the rain wasn't too bad at that time.

But like I said, it's set in now and the internet has just decided to conk out, pain n the ass! Lucky for me I have my phone and I can use it's data, but it still sucks.

What doesn't suck is...Project Purple Shirt is completed! The button holes proved to be a challenge, but I conquered them! I put the shirt on for a bit, jury is still out on the shortness. Perhaps if I don't lift my arms abovemy head I'll be OK? Although sometimes at the library I do have to reach up high, but then like I said maybe I can just put an undershirt on.

Now, I'm sure you're all excited so...drumroll please!

Here it is!

Pretty nice if I do say so myself...Though I'm not sure if I should wear it tomorrow or my new grin striped one...the purple one has some dressmaker's marker on it, although apparently that's supposed to just come off with a damp cloth.

Right, time has passed quite quickly, so I better do the Memes and head off!

Bring it! )

OK, time to hit the hay, I'm looking forward to my flannette sheets!

11:14pm: Fortunately this is not due to illness (knock on wood), but on the fact that I while drinking some water I sort of hiccuped and as a result inhaled half a gulp o water down the wrong pipe. It's settled down thankfully because I thought I was going to choke for a minute there! A bit scary when one lives alone.

Moving on, the rain has indeed set in for the weekend, somehow I managed to get everything hanging up in my flat, even the sheets so at least I don't have to be concerned about that. However, I am rather concerned about what this will mean for my ice skating. I always get a bit worried about driving in the rain, with any luck though perhaps it'll be calmer.

In other news I got an email today from the IT person at the library, apparently on Sunday the wi-fi network will be down! Fortunately it looks like there'll be an off-line library management system available so we won't have to do everything by hand, but considering how many people come for the computers it's going to be weird day.

I was also disappointed when I went to the Mona Vale Aldi to find the sausage dog shaped draft stoppers were sold out there too. Dang, they were the cutest little things, should have known they'd sell out quick. :O( Having said that there doesn't seem to be a draft in here, especially after Mum removed the outlet hose for the air-conditioner from the window in the bedroom. Which I really should have done myself, fail me.

However! I did have the great luck to purchase a very nice striped green business like shirt at Salvos, yay! I washed it so hopefully it'll be ready to wear on Sunday. As for Project Purple shirt, I re-sewed the collar on because it wasn't sitting right, which was really quite a pain in the butt. I also finished up the sleeves. The only thing that's left is those damn button holes...I've tried everything but I just can't get the sewing machine to do the automatic buttonhole making. Boooo. I think I might be able to manually make the outlines of the buttonholes using the machine, which hopefully won't end up biting me in the ass.

And I can only hope that it's still not too short after redoing the hem...

Anyway, time flies when you're sewing so I shall forego the memes for tonight and instead get ready to hit the hay. Zzzzs are needed! :OP

And now I say goodnight!

10:30pm: So I'm watching my house shows and the people on it are talking about pergolas only they're pronouncing it per-gola, which sounds utterly ridiculous. I figured it was some US thing, but to my surprise the internet tells me that the Brits also pronounce it that way. Seriously, per-gola, it sounds like something going down the drain! Not fancypants at all, which is what a pergola is. Frankly, I'm offended. Once again the British have let me down, still not getting over the vitamin thing.

Moving on from my rants regarding pronounciations, my new umbrella! Isn't it cute? Here's the raindrops with funny faces on them. Funnily enough when I showed my co-workers one mentioned that the Library Manager has the same pattern on her umbrella! (Her's might be a larger size than mine) Good taste trumps it would seem. ;O)

What else to report? Well, I managed to leave my drink bottle at the library today, dang it, I guess I'll have to go back and get it, but I'm not sure when since tomorrow's plns involves me being in suburbs in the opposite direction. Ah well, I'll have to think on it.

Oh! And I also contacted my friend who lives near the ice skating rink and she said I could stay over on Thursday night so that's one thing taken care of. I wonder if I should take the car at all...it still smells weird in there, I should have taken my car perfume thing out of the Mazda, although it was running low so maybe I should buy a new one. Yet more decisions to be made. :OP

Right, better do a Meme or two to make this entry worth all our whiles: )

11:08pm: Well, the weather has decided to make up for lost time in regards to the rain and it's being bucketing down for most of the day. Added to that the temperature has gone low enough that I've put on my new penguin flannel pjs, not to mention put my doona back inside my doona cover. Hopefully, I won't wake wake up too hot some time during the night.

Moving on, I'm sure you all want to know how the Canasta went...well, I was going quite well, in fact I was in the lead! However, M managed to stage an amazing come from behind victory! I'm not gonna lie I was a bit disappointed in myself, but hey, what are you gonna do? :OP

Then it was off to work, which was interesting as aside from me everyone else was a casual employee! I wonder where the other part-timers were? I guess that will always remain a mystery LOL.

I had been planning to go to my parents' church after work, but with rain I decided I was better off going to the church in Mona Vale, especially since Mum had gone to church up in Newcastle - where she was visiting a friend. Once again though the mass went way longer than I'm used to. Although admittedly Palm/Passion Sunday is usually a long one, but it was starting to get dark when I came home and daylight savings hasn't ended yet! I'm so not looking forward to when it does, which I've all ready mentioned, but I think it bears repeating.

In other news, I finished the book I was reading this week, which ostensibly was about the world of figure skating - the cataloguing suggestions on the copyright page even says so! However, I should have paid more attention the blurb, which was much clearer about what the story would become i.e. one of those sad tragic stories about death. Oh...yay. I don't like reading sad stuff...

Anyway, enough about that, I should really try and catch up on meme or two...

11:03pm: Actually, it came during the night and when I woke up this morning it was coming down quite hard and since it had been warm last night before I went to bed I'd left my doors open so it was a bit chilly. This resulted in me dilly-dallying when it came to getting up and I didn't leave my place until after quarter past eight, which meant I got to work late. Do'h! I'd been doing well in the punctuality department this week, bit of a fail there.

It all turned out OK in the end, though and by the time I was finished the rain had stopped enough that I didn't end up getting soaked when I went to the Aldi, then the Coles at Mona Vale. I think I might have been imagining the matching aqua coloured toilet brushes. Dang. I did take a look at Bed, Bath and... whatever the last word is, and while the did have some toilet brushes they were super expensive. Gee, I'm gonna use the brush in the toilet I'm not spending 50 bucks on it. :OP

Anyway, I got the $300 along with some other stuff - although not the zip I thought I could get from the Mona Vale Fabric Shop, or rather you can't just get a replacement zip bit, you have to replace the whole thing which means I need to measure how long it is and all that. But right now the vest is way down in the box I put my winter clothes in, so that'll have to wait.

The fact the rain stopped for a bit also meant I was able to put stuff in the car and go over to meet Mum who bought the crate rack things this morning. Although she needs to exchange a few because when you put them on top of each other they're way too high. Also somewhat unfortunately, I discovered that the top drawers of the buffet are too short to fit DVDs in them, whoops. Not entirely sure what I'll put in them instead...I guess some books? I need to rearrange my books actually, perhaps give some away and put ones that I'm not going to read so much in the crates.

Lastly, my analogue to digital adaptor thing is now in transit, but apparently it's not estimated to arrive until Monday, booo.

And, I've just realised...I forgot to call my friend about dinner tomorrow, crap, I hope I can get hold of her tomorrow I need to know what I'm going to do with myself.

Although I do know I'll be going to the gym tomorrow, yay! And also pick up Mrs S's manual wheelchair and maybe pop by the mall to see if I can find a reasonably priced toilet brush there.

But for now I have to go to bed!

Goodnight all!

11:14pm: Yep, it's still going on out there, although it's supposed to clear up a bit tomorrow, I hope so! Today was miserable and one of my bags almost ended up absolutely saturated when it almost fell out of my car when I opened the door. Man, that was a close one, the bag had a book and DVD set belonging to the library I shudder to think how much it would have cost to replace those.

Speaking of the library...I got an unpleasant surprise when I received a call from Mona Vale at about 2:30pm today...it turns out I was meant to have a shift there this afternoon! But it wasn't in my phone and I don't recall getting an email about it either. I just checked my Gmail and there's no sign of one either...which makes me wonder. I was apparently meant to work this Sunday too and I felt bad about not going in today so I agreed to work, but I dunno...I wonder if there's been a mix up because there's also a Monique who works there, perhaps they mixed us up? I'd kinda prefer not to work on my birthday although the party is happening the day before so maybe I should? I think I should call tomorrow and double check because that's really weird.

Anyway, I did a number of things today, including buying fabric, buttons and thread in the hope of making my shirt, getting the new rechargable battery for my Santa lights (more expensive than the lights themselves!), going to my parents house - where I was supposed to get some baking paper and a tray, but managed to forget to do that in the excitement of catching up with the parentals (and Mrs Lampe) and their trip, whoops! - then to Dee Why to look for the gumboots. I found two shops, but one didn't have my size and the other only had a small selection and they were 50 bucks. So I'm stuck with the short boots for now. And I got a one week extension on my book and the DVD set so that was cool!

I've just had I thought...I wonder if I should take a different route to work tomorrow because this morning the low road that runs by the lagoon had a a huge patch of water flooded over. It was a bit intimidating to drive through it, especially since I have such a small car! But then maybe I'm just being a big wuss.

Finally, I think I've got the dress almost done! How exciting! :OD Although sometimes the machine makes a strange noise when I'm using it, I hope it's not wearing out, that'd be uncool.

This also means next on the agenda will be the shirt, which is going to be quite difficult, I got the pattern from the book I borrowed from the library, but printing it out was a Hell of a thing, the pattern is on 30 pages which I have to stick together! Yikes...

On that note, I have to skip the Memes once again and head off to bed.

For now goodnight!

11:31pm: And I should be snoring! :OP

Alas, I'm updating my Dreamwidth instead! Shame on me, particularly since I didn't get enough sleep last night and as a result when my alarm woke me up this morning I didn't get up right away and the next thing I knew it was 8am! I didn't even have time for a shower! All the same I was ten minutes late to Mrs S's.

In other news, I made the decision to go to the Mall in my car, figuring that maybe there'd be some parking spaces on the street what with the pouring rain and the fact it was still the holidays.

Big mistake! I forgot to consider the fact that with it being school holidays and the weather that the mall was the place to be! Shiiit. As a result I was half an hour late to work as I fruitlessly searched for a spot, I even resigned myself to paying $7 to park in one of the parking lots at the Mall, but there were so many cars in the one I entered that I gave up on that venture.

In the end I had to park in a one hour spot, but since the parking rangers rarely if ever come out in the rain I figured it was safe. Fortunately, it didn't pour too hard while I was walking from my car to the library or when I went home after finishing either.

The Mall Library was nowhere near as busy as the Dee Why Library had been, at least in terms of books returned - although it was open three days last week, although around 3pm it seemed like everyone and their dog returned their books! We managed to get through them so phew!

Anyway, I also returned my gumboots, and when I checked my messages I realised Mrs S had called me yesterday about seeing some gumboots somewhere in Dee Why, I'll have to ask her for more info tomorrow.

And I hoped to make the biscuits this evening, since it's Ephiphany tomorrow and thus all Christmas decos and whatnot should be put away, but I don't have any baking paper or a tray. I'm not sure if I should buy that or just borrow some from my parents...hmmm, maybe I'll see how the biscuits turn out with borrowed stuff. And if I prove to have a skill maybe I can invest in my own bakeware.

Operation Dress continues, I thought I'd finished tonight but things are still crooked so I have to redo it...Man, I hope it doesn't fall apart with all this picking apart! Wish me luck!

Right, I better go, no memes tonight but I'll get back to you on that.

11:11pm: Or on Christmas for that matter! I think I've mentioned this before but it seems to be a general rule here in Sydney, Australia that it rains on and around Christmas. It's a damn shame because it means you can't go outside during Christmas dinner, plus this year - if the weather report is right - it's going to be hot too...so humidity will show up too, ew. I wonder how my hair will go with this.

Moving right along, a busy day once again with Mrs S's in the morning and Dee Why Library in the afternoon. This is rather unfortunate because I haven't done any cleaning again, my poor flat it looks so sad! Why am I so messy?

What else to report? Not much although my abdomen seems to have settled down, which is good news! Of course, I made lasagna tonight so it's probably very happy to have good food. :O) I also made frosting for the cupcakes to take to Mrs S tomorrow, although I realised that I managed to leave my medium sized white plastic bowl at Aunt Weed's fiance's place - do'h! Although, having SMS'ed her it seems the bowl is in the possession of M so I should be able to get it back sooner rather than later. The small bowl did OK this time around though.

Anyway, I was going to do some Memes, but I can't actually remember what one's I've done and it's late, so I'll have to leave that for later.

Oh...and I did have a bit of a scare with my car this morning, when I managed to side swipe a parked ute and the passenger side wing mirror popped out of its casing a bit! O.o I was most distressed until I found I could pop it back in, which is a big relief, although now there's a scratch on it, boo. I drove back the way I came after finishing work to see if the ute was OK, it was fine as I swiped the metal tray part. Still...drive more carefully me!

And now, I'm off! Goodnight all!
