11:59pm: OK, so I've slacked this week with the whole updating thing and though I'm starting this update before midnight I'm not gonna finish it before the day ticks over!

And I'm still behind on The Friday Five, but tomorrow is the morning tea at Mum and Dad's retirement village and I have to deliver my cupcakes by 9:30am (or possibly 9am!) so I no time to stay up late.

The weather has totally been all over the place this week, chilly outside, but my apartment is well insulated so I'm quite hot and need to turn the fan on so I can sleep. It's rather weird.

In other news it's the last Junior Grand Prix event and the menfolk are skating now, it's happening in China so I had hopes that the time zones would work out better for me, I did manage to see the whole Ladies SP, but I'll have to turn in before the menfolk finish so I won't know who'll wins until tomorrow. Ah well.

Apart from that not much else to report, except I've been playing Sims 4 all week, Alternate Lady Bigwallet has almost reached the top of her aspiration! Once she does, she and Shea the gardener can get married and have kiddies for the next generation. For all my attempts with Hill Valley in Sims games I've never actually had a full generation before, so this will be interesting. I am kind of missing playing my Woodstone Sims in Sims 3, I'm pretty sure season 4 of Ghosts premiered today, but just taking a quick look, it's actually next week. Phew! :OP

Also it's been busy at work, next week we need to do a Time and Motion Study because the Big Manager wants to know if we're working efficiently or something like that. I'm not sure what to think about that... Changes may be afoot, but our jobs are safe or at least that's what my supervisor says. Fingers crossed I guess!

Right, I gotta get moving. Goodnight!

11:43pm: Indeed, although I had to spend most of it inside the library, boo :OP Bit of a shame really because it was still nice when I finished but by then it was only an hour to sunset, so I couldn't really enjoy it. And it's gone now, with a big storm having rolled through complete with lightning!

Anyway! I don't have a lot to say, I've been reading this evening because one of the books I borrowed from the library was due back yesterday and I can't renew it because there's a hold on it! Which means I really must finish and return it ASAP! As a staff member I don't actually get library fines, but it's hardly fair to whoever's waiting to get the book is it.

Lucky for me it's a kids book so I should be able to finish it in good time...although not tonight because I really need to get my butt to bed.

Before I do...drumroll please...

Sunday Stealing

:The Sassy Questions:

1. If you could say anything you wanted to say to Donald Trump, what would you say? "Fuck you." (Seriously I can't even imagine speaking to that man, I think I'd just stand their spluttering in pure indignation and impotent rage)

2. If you had to be the mother of Britney Spears or Lindsay Lohan, who would you choose and why? I have no idea. I mean, both of them have had their problems but I think they're doing OK now? In which case I can't really see one being better than another.

3. You get to be Queen for a day. The kids are all taken care of, and you can spend as much money as you want. What do you do all day? Do I get to pick the day? And since I don't have kids can I have more than one day? ;O) If so, I'd buy rinkside tickets for Fantasy on Ice in Japan where Plushy will be performing! It'd be awesooome.

4. Is there a song that brings tears to your eyes every time you hear it? If so, which one? Hmmm, not really. I don't like crying, it hurts my eyeballs too much!0

5. A fairy taps you on the shoulder and tells you that you can either have a perfect face or a perfect body for the rest of your life. Which do you choose? Well I like my face as is, but I could probably do with a stronger core (my posture sucks) so perfect body it is! :OP

6. If you could live any place in the world and money was no object, where would you live and why? I quite like Sydney and my family and friends are here so I'd probably just stay here like a boring person, LOL. I'd have a far nicer place then the Granny Flat I'm currently in though! Although...I'd probably want to get a holiday house in New York, just for the experience.

7. What is your biggest regret in life? Uh...I dunno? Not following Plushy when he was competing? (That's a lame one, but I've been a bit sad about it so...)

8. If you could go back and visit one person in your life who is now dead, and ask one question, what would that question be and why would you ask it? I'd like to see Grandma (Dad's mother) again and ask her to tell me her life story, because I never did and that's sad.

9. If you had the choice to age forward (like we are now) or aging backwards (think Benjamin Buttons) which would you choose and why? Ooo that's a pickle...On the one hand it seems great to think of becoming younger and healthier (as a general rule) as the years go by, but would you also unlearn stuff as you got younger? Would you end up losing your skills and abilities as you slowly approach birth? I guess that kind of happens anyway...but not necessarily! There's plenty of people who lived their whole lives without losing their faculties, so I guess...I'd stick with what we got now. Though it would be nice for those who die to "come back to life"...

10. What will the epitaph on your headstone say? "Here Lies Moose, She Planned to Write Something Witty, but...Procrastination..."

Okedoke, hope you all enjoyed that, but now for me it's bed time!

Goodnight all!

11:32pm: I have no idea why it's taking so long! I hope it hasn't got lost in the mail, I actually called my bank asking after it, but their computer says it's definitely been sent and I checked my address with them and it was right so... The lady I spoke to said that she could send another card out, but if the first one was to arrive on Monday I wouldn't be able to use it! And then...be stuck waiting three to five days for the second one to come! Fuck that. I sure hope it comes on Monday, I'm not sure how much longer I can go without easy access to a bank account!

I suppose I could just go to the Mall tomorrow and withdraw like...two hundred bucks or something, but I really hate the thought of carrying that much dough around, what if I lose it?!

But today was kind of embarrassing, firstly I had to borrow some money from Mrs S so I could afford my hair cut (technically, I don't think you're meant to do that, but she assured me it'd be fine and she knew where I lived :OP) However, the hair cut was $89 so I didn't have enough for my waxing appointment. I tried to call Mum, but she didn't answer her phone and Dad's went straight to voicemail so I couldn't have either of them pay for me over the phone, so I was stuck. I actually hadn't been home since leaving at around 1pm for the hair appointment and I thought it was possible the mailman could have come by in that time, so I pushed my waxing appointment back to check that out - suffice to say no card! So I just cancelled the appointment and figured I'd just give my tweezers a good work out.

Later on Mum called though and convinced me to see if they still had an appointment open and they did, so back to Warriewood I went. It was for the best, since my other consideration was to get the waxing done after work tomorrow at the Mall (where the nearest branch of my bank is), but it's never a good idea to have the waxing done on the same day as the event you're going to.

The lady who did my eyebrows and lips was quite funny, so that was fun. :OP

I also got Mum to give me her card details so I could pay for the reunion ticket, it is tomorrow after all and I'm pretty sure it's poor form not to pay for an event before you show up to it, especially if you're not good friends with the host!

Oh! And of course I can't neglect to mention that today is St Paddy's Day! Toast the green my friends! I made cupcakes for the get-together after church - which alas I won't be able to go to - with green frosting! :OD Sadly since I gave up chocolate for Lent, I didn't have any, but here's what they look like (Mum added the green lollies on top).

And whilst I wasn't able to have chocolate, I did make the choice to have green fairy bread instead. Which is very 'Straylian, so bring it!

And now, I must be off, tomorrow looks to be a busy day! I sure hope the weather will be better than it is right now...I have to take public transport to the reunion tomorrow and I don't want to end up blown off my feet or soaked head to toe!

Oh...and lastly...my hair is looking great! Except...the hairdresser cut it slightly too short, so now I'm going to have fiddle around with the sides until the grow long enough to tie back. Do'h!

But now, I say goodnight!

11:57pm: I just need to paint my nails! Except I can't do that until after I update this because I can't type with wet nail polish on can I? Not that I have a lot to type or a lot of time in which to do it.

I will say that after a hot day, the weather has decided to turn, it's raining and windy out there and all I can say is I hope my new Christmas tree shaped lights stay up out there, I've only got them stuck on the side of the house with super-strength sticky tape. I'd hate for them to get broken, I even bought another set this evening when I went to K-Mart after church to get some white shoes for tomorrow, so that I'd have enough to reach along the whole of the side of the Granny Flat.

I'm also relieved on behalf of all the families who went to the Carols at the nearby lake that this storm didn't come in until after the fireworks and the show wrapped up, otherwise it would have been a miserable night!

What else to report? Well, now that school's out the library was very quiet indeed, I wonder how it'll go tomorrow, I guess I'll have to find out next week since I'll be at the party!

I wonder if the big bro and family will come, there's a possiblity they won't depending on whether my niece is seriously jet-lagged. Although, I sure as Hell hope the weather calms down, otherwise the plane might not be able to land! But fingers crossed.

Right, it's actually after midnight now, but...I'll just put this entry at 11:59 and like I said, I better be off.

Wish me luck painting my fingernails, I let you know how the party goes!

10:29pm: There was just a huge thunderstorm here in my suburb (and surrounding areas I assume), with flashes of lightning and bolts across the sky with big gust of wind and rain pelting down. I got a bit scared I have to say, I've never been a fan of lightning, although at least unlike last week I wasn't in my car at the time Still it was the sort of storm that makes you realise how easy it could stop a clock or send a DeLorean back in time. ;O)

Moving on, I'm wondering if I should send my application in for the temporary job at Mona Vale Library tonight or wait for tomorrow. I've pretty much written the cover letter and everything and I do wonder if waiting until the last day is bad form, but on the other hand I'm not sure it actually is ready. although as it turns out my mother might not be able to come over tomorrow after all (it seems she forgot that I work Friday mornings) so it's not like I can show it to her. I did think about calling the person on the ad though ust to see if they're looking for anything in particular or at least make sure they know that I'm interested!

Anywho...what else to report? Well I did my volunteering today, which was good, I caught the bus and actually read my book! (Usually I end up looking at my mobile instead :OP) I did get a bit concerned when I realised I'd managed to leave my drink bottle back at the Granny Fat but thankfully it didn't end up being that hot.

I can't think of what else to write, so here let's have a meme before a wrap this entry up.

Memes please! )

That's right I remembered another important and not so good news I received today...my rent hasn't been coming out of my account! No wonder I've had so much money lately! And now my savings are horribly depleted. Son of a bitch. Good thing I had it though... still that sucks. :O(

10:14pm: I'm trying to upload the videos I took of that epic Christmas lights house that I went to see on Saturday night and promised to show you all, but it's taking a whole damn hour to upload a one minute video to YouTube! Seriously, what the Hell? It's the beginning of the month so I can't have run out of bandwidth and as a general rule the internet is fast enough here, I mean I can watch live TV (although it's not of the best quality).

The only other thing I can think of is the fact I'm downloading from my external hard drive, although it's USB 3.0 which I've been led to understand is quite speedy when it comes to transferring stuff. I guess the only way to find out if that's true is to load the second of the videos onto my actual laptop and upload it from there. but I'll have to wait and see if that can be done...the current video still has 16 minutes to go!

Anywho, what else to report? Well, it was damn hot today! Which was why when Mum said she was going swimming late this afternoon I left my house to go back to the parental place to do so. And before that I've had my air-con running, which I'm relieved to say has been working at keeping me cool. I also went shopping after working at Mrs S's today, incidentally I was surprised they didn't have their air-con on, I actually considered asking them if they could! But it might have just been the nature of the work I do - stuff with the sliding sheet, making the bed etc.

I wonder what it will be like tomorrow? We ended up having quite the thunderstorm as I was driving home from Mum and Dad's bolts of lightning was arcing across the sky. I'm not a big fan of lightning so I was a little but worried, but thankfully I didn't get rained on, although apparently there was quite a storm in these parts, I got an email saying that Mona Vale Library had lost all power! Yikes. Actually, I think it might be raining right now...

I've just checked my phone and apparently it's only going to be 24 degrees tomorrow, which is hardly short weather (although I might do so anyway, since the weather is weird this time of year) and also cloudy, which is not good news for me because I bought some new solar lights, sadly they're not like my Santa lights, which don't seem to exist anymore, but they're super cute! They're called silhoelette lights and as you can see there is a Santa included. However, I can't see if they look like that because there wasn't enough sun today to power the solar battery, bummer.

Anyway, I have to head off soon as Mrs S needs me to come in tomorrow morning and a bit earlier than usual as well and you know what that means, I gotta go to bed earlier.

But before I head off, let's have a Meme or two )

Okedoke, it's past 11 now so off to bed!

10:37pm: Was very sore today...seriously, all the way from the hip down on the outside. So getting up, walking downstairs and kneeling down - which I have to do as part of my job was most uncomfortable. It was so sore I ended up taking some Nurofen which along with the swimming - I finally got to do today! - made me feel better although it's still sore if I move it certain ways, which totally sucks, man. I hope it goes away by tomorrow, although I'm a little confused why only my left leg was hurt by the exercise I did yesterday - I assume that's what must have caused it - I must be do my leg presses unevenly or something.

Hmm, I wonder if I need to get my orthodics checked...

Anyway, moving on, I made cupcakes tonight because Mum rang me up this afternoon to ask me to do so, although I'm not entirely sure what for, and who am I to say no to that. :OD However, Mum prefers cream rather than frosting, I happened to be at IGA looking for a watering can (couldn't find one) so I went to buy some. Originally I was going to get the double thick stuff, but it was like $7! So I went with the 'whipping cream' instead, which hopefully will do as it says, otherwise it'll just run off the top of the cupcakes. I haven't actually whipped it yet, so I need to do that before I head off to bed since I won't have time to do so in the morning.

Also, since I work tomorrow, I have to leave the cupcakes outside in the carport for Mum to pick up! I hope they'll be OK out there since it's supposed to rain tomorrow and also be windy which could direct said rain into the carport area. Oh well, I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Anywho, I better do the Memes and head off!

Friday5

A Week of Good Behaviour

1. What’s the dumbest thing you did this week? Um...hmmm...I'm sure I did something dumb, but be damned if I can remember what it is right now. I did almost fall over in my own house the other day! Graceful I am not.

2. In what way did you save yourself time or energy this week? Uh...scratches head again. I'm not sure I did! Although I'm a lazy person when I'm not at the gym so I'm probably saving energy most of the time. :OP

3. How were you wasteful of personal and natural resources this week? Well, all this sitting on my butt probably is a bit wasteful of my personal resources. As for natural resources, due to burning it I ended up throwing away quite a bit of my lasagna because it ended up stuck to the dish!

4. When this week did you take advantage of the opportunity to keep your mouth shut? Ha ha ha! I never take advantage of the opportunity to keep my mouth shut! :OP

5. In what way this week were you blessed or fortunate? My IBS has calmed right down (knock on wood), so I'm feeling pretty good! Plus I live in a first world country and all that.

The (Other) Friday Five

17/6/16

1. Do you like smiling? I do! :O) It releases endorphins and all that good stuff.

2. Would you call yourself a happy or solemn individual? A happy person, solemnity really doesn't suit me.

3. What was that last thing that made you smile or laugh? A bad pun on Facebook, I do love a pun, even if it's bad, LOL!

4. Do you believe that laughter is the best medicine? Well, not exactly, but it certainly does make things easier if you can have a sense of humour.

5. Are you smiling now? Nah, but I'm feeling happy if a little sleepy!

Okedoke, time for me to go!

Wish me luck with the weather, I don't want to end up not being able to find a decent parking spot like a fortnight ago.

10:30pm: Gee, it hasn't rained for some weeks and now the weather has gone absolutely nuts! Not just rain, but wind, it was bad enough that when I woke up this morning there was no power! I didn't actually realise this until I looked at my mobile phone and saw an SMS from the landlords telling me about it at which point I noticed my DVD player and vacuum cleaner had no lights on them. Fortunately, this didn't mean I couldn't have a hot shower, it did prevent me from having breakfast though. I ran out of milk last night and had figured I'd just have toast, but obviously I couldn't do that.

I also couldn't go ice skating, the wind and rain were so nasty I was sure that at some point along the road there'd be an accident or a flood or a tree down. But without any power and the place rather dark from the clouds staying at the house wasn't really feasible either, so I decided to leave really early and do some shopping that the Warriewood Square and perhaps have breakfast. I did the former, but not the latter because I couldn't see a single place to get a crossiant! I did discover that the new section of the Square - with the Aldi is set to open on the 23rd. How exciting!

I'm still bummed about the ice skating though..

Eventually I headed to Mona Vale and the library because I didn't want to be caught out with parking again, but there were no crossiants to be found there either, so I had a hot chocolate before entering the library building early and reading my book until it was time to start.

Despite the management system and catalogue being off-line for the day everything turned out pretty well, although I was quite hungry after a while since I didn't have a proper breakfast. Good thing I bought a good lunch then!

However, things went rather pearshaped on leaving, all day my co-workers had worried about how they'd get home, I thought I'd be fine, but since the morning nearly all of the roads that lead up to where I live at the top of the hill had been flooded and there was no way to get through! Which I didn't realise until I got to each of them one by one - I looked on the Live Traffic NSW website, but no mention was made of those particular streets at all! Thanks for nothing website! I started getting rather anxious and called the parental units who were able to calm me down...even as I went to the three roads I use to get up the hill and found each one closed.

Finally, the only way to get home was via Mona Vale Road, the one road I'd avoided because it's quite narrow at the point I need to drive and there's hardly any light up there, but there looked like no other alternative, I could have tried to get to my parents place perhaps, but I didn't have any clothes to wear to Mrs S's tomorrow.

So, with Mum's encouragement up the narrow road I went and I was finally able to get home! And much to my relief the power was back, phew! I would have been really screwed otherwise.

In non-transport related news, I wore the purple shirt today! Alas, I'm either going to have to extend its length by sewing extra pieces around it so it'll have a seam in the middle of it or make a whole new shirt. I do have a shirt that has a seam across it's middle, although the lower parts has a stitching design of sorts that I don't think I could do because I find it hard to sew straight. Although it would be the cheaper option...

In the meantime I solved the too-short problem by buying a purple tank top to wear under it, although it still looks kinda weird. My co-workers at the library thought I looked pretty sharp though, so there's that!

Anyway! It's past 11pm now, so I better Meme and wrap this entry up since I need to get to bed.

I am slightly worried that the roads might still be inaccessible tomorrow, in which case getting to Mrs S's place is going to be hard. Fingers crossed that the rain, that's still being coming down on and off will be mostly off!

Bring 'em on! )

10:30pm: So I'm watching my house shows and the people on it are talking about pergolas only they're pronouncing it per-gola, which sounds utterly ridiculous. I figured it was some US thing, but to my surprise the internet tells me that the Brits also pronounce it that way. Seriously, per-gola, it sounds like something going down the drain! Not fancypants at all, which is what a pergola is. Frankly, I'm offended. Once again the British have let me down, still not getting over the vitamin thing.

Moving on from my rants regarding pronounciations, my new umbrella! Isn't it cute? Here's the raindrops with funny faces on them. Funnily enough when I showed my co-workers one mentioned that the Library Manager has the same pattern on her umbrella! (Her's might be a larger size than mine) Good taste trumps it would seem. ;O)

What else to report? Well, I managed to leave my drink bottle at the library today, dang it, I guess I'll have to go back and get it, but I'm not sure when since tomorrow's plns involves me being in suburbs in the opposite direction. Ah well, I'll have to think on it.

Oh! And I also contacted my friend who lives near the ice skating rink and she said I could stay over on Thursday night so that's one thing taken care of. I wonder if I should take the car at all...it still smells weird in there, I should have taken my car perfume thing out of the Mazda, although it was running low so maybe I should buy a new one. Yet more decisions to be made. :OP

11:18pm: OK, that's melodramatic, but indeed today daylight savings ends for six months, and now we can all look forward to it being dark at 6pm, ugh. Not looking forward to it at all. Although the weather remains summer-like, for example it got up to like 29 degrees C! I was in the library for most of the day so I don't know if it got to that, but it was quite warm when I finished at 2pm.

I was rather looking forward to going swimming once I psyched myself up for it, only to discover...that it doesn't start until 4pm on Saturday! Shit, how could I forget that? Either way, I really couldn't be bothered to hang around for an hour - I hadn't brought socks with me, so I didn't want to actually work out at the gym, plus work was a madhouse today, I was practically run off my feet! - so back home I went.

I stopped by the parental home, although Mum was out, so I hung out with Dad for a bit - he wanted to show me this extra USB slot thing he bought and plugged into his tablet so he can use a mouse with it, LOL! He also mentioned something of mine was his car, so before I left we went out to take a look and it was my kangaroo! Mum had left it in the car! How rude! :OP Well at least I got to show it to Dad and he took inside to make sure Mum takes it along in their luggage. They're leaving on Monday after all!

Also, while I was doing all this driving around I saw a five door green Mazda 2, I went to take a closer look at it, just because and found it was an auto and priced at $7,700 that's like $1,000 less than my one! Once again, life is rude! Although this one had done almost double the kms, so I guess it's all even outs in the end. Or at least it will once I get that poor dent fixed. It's really bringing down the aesthetic as I say.

I was also reminded by the km reading of the Mazda to check my own, it's up to 50,000! I need to get that service done, but I haven't heard back from the garage I called. They were the ones who did the pre-sale inspection so I felt I should go to them, but if they're not gonna bother returning my call...

Moving along...the net is acting weird, although I'm not sure if it's my computer or what. Some things are working and some aren't. The internet here is unlimited though...

Anyway, here's the Other Friday Memes

The (Other) Friday Five

19/2/16

These come from feodora on LJ

1. Do you live a house, a condo, or some kind of apartment? A Granny Flat which would be some other kind of apartment. Unlike the previous one I was in, it's attached to the actual main house. It's bigger and nicer though.

2. Do you rent or own? Rent.

3. What’s one thing that you would change about it if you could? I guess it'd be handy to have my own washing machine since I have to use the landlords one, they're nice about it, but it's still a bit of a pain.

anonymoose_au: (Whoops)
11:07pm: Indeed it is! And here I am updating at the last minute.

Not much to report today, although the rain continued through the night and into the morning so I figured that I should wear long pants and in typical autumnal style this ended up being a bad idea, I ended up feeling sweaty and overheated. Guess I'll have to stick to shorts!

After finishing with Mrs S I headed to the Warriewood Centre because I needed to buy the spaghetti sauce and also I wanted to see the pharmacist because I've got this rash on my neck, I have no idea where it came from. Mrs S and I thought it was my necklace, but the pharmacist said that seemed unlikely seeing as I've been wearing it for so long. It's a real mystery, the only thing I can think of is it's my new laundry power, I've been making sure to wash my mobile phone holder lately and I wear that around my neck. if this is the case though shouldn't I be itchy all over? The laundry powder will be all over my clothes and bedsheets.

Whatever the case the pharmacist recommended some cream, and I have to forgo wearing anything around my neck until the rash clears up. And even though my chain is probably not the culprit, it's looking a little worse for wear and one of the jewellers in the shopping centre is having a 50% off moving sale so I took advantage.

I also bought some Easter chocolate, although I have no idea what to get my father...he's not really a big chocolate eater, so I guess I should check with Mum who I'll be meeting tomorrow for the scripture thing. Although tomorrow we have to have to meet earlier than usual, which means I probably won't be able to go to the gym which is a great big do'h since I won't be able to go for the rest of week. I also need to clean the house up a bit too for inspection. Ah so much to do.

Anyway, I really need to get to bed now and finish my Russian study - Duolingo seems to be channelling Plushy, the lesson is about body parts and things like "His lower back hurts" and "Does he have back pain" keep showing up. Poor Plushy! He's had his operation and was apparently with it enough to send a picture of himself in his neck brace to Instagram, now he just needs to keep still for eight weeks! Fingers crossed. I must say he seems way better after his neck operation then my father was after his.

Right, really must be off to bed! Goodnight all!

11:03pm: Actually, it came during the night and when I woke up this morning it was coming down quite hard and since it had been warm last night before I went to bed I'd left my doors open so it was a bit chilly. This resulted in me dilly-dallying when it came to getting up and I didn't leave my place until after quarter past eight, which meant I got to work late. Do'h! I'd been doing well in the punctuality department this week, bit of a fail there.

It all turned out OK in the end, though and by the time I was finished the rain had stopped enough that I didn't end up getting soaked when I went to the Aldi, then the Coles at Mona Vale. I think I might have been imagining the matching aqua coloured toilet brushes. Dang. I did take a look at Bed, Bath and... whatever the last word is, and while the did have some toilet brushes they were super expensive. Gee, I'm gonna use the brush in the toilet I'm not spending 50 bucks on it. :OP

Anyway, I got the $300 along with some other stuff - although not the zip I thought I could get from the Mona Vale Fabric Shop, or rather you can't just get a replacement zip bit, you have to replace the whole thing which means I need to measure how long it is and all that. But right now the vest is way down in the box I put my winter clothes in, so that'll have to wait.

The fact the rain stopped for a bit also meant I was able to put stuff in the car and go over to meet Mum who bought the crate rack things this morning. Although she needs to exchange a few because when you put them on top of each other they're way too high. Also somewhat unfortunately, I discovered that the top drawers of the buffet are too short to fit DVDs in them, whoops. Not entirely sure what I'll put in them instead...I guess some books? I need to rearrange my books actually, perhaps give some away and put ones that I'm not going to read so much in the crates.

Lastly, my analogue to digital adaptor thing is now in transit, but apparently it's not estimated to arrive until Monday, booo.

And, I've just realised...I forgot to call my friend about dinner tomorrow, crap, I hope I can get hold of her tomorrow I need to know what I'm going to do with myself.

Although I do know I'll be going to the gym tomorrow, yay! And also pick up Mrs S's manual wheelchair and maybe pop by the mall to see if I can find a reasonably priced toilet brush there.

But for now I have to go to bed!

Goodnight all!

11:25pm: Or have your father bring them out - as I've mentioned previously he does love to buy various stuff with the Aussie flag on it - cups, plates, clothes, etc. Even socks! I wore a pair when I went to work for Mrs S, a nice touch I thought! I briefly considered wearing my Australian flag shirt, but I decided not to risk it in case I spilt something on it or something.

I ended up being a bit longer at Mrs S's then planned - usually on a public holiday I do two hours, but because the weather had still be crappy yesterday - it was very nice today! - they hadn't been able to set up for the guest who was coming for Australia Day.

I was a bit worried because my friend was coming to the party and I thought it'd probably be awkward if she showed up and I wasn't there to hang out with! Fortunately, I got back in time although she came with her parents and seemed fine talking to other people when Mum called me in to help bring out food or whatever every so often. :OP

My friend's mother brought along a lammington cake, which was absolutely delicious! :OD As was the mini-sausages, and Australian shaped patties - with the accompanying bread rolls and the salad. Although there was a lack of beef...Dad said it was because Australia got rich off the sheep's back - although that doesn't explain the pork sausages. :OP

As I said, the weather turned out way better than forecast, it was overcast, but no rain, so yay.

And the party ended in time for me to see the start of Roger Federer's quarter final match! He ended up winning in straight sets so I actually missed the end of it because I drove home at the end of the second set and made a quick detour to take a look at the street where the other apartment I'm planning to inspect with Mum tomorrow is. I'm a bit worried because not only is the street narrow as Hell, there wasn't a parking spot to be seen! O.o Maybe that was just because Australia Day, but if I do go for that one what am I meant to do if there's no parking spot?

Ah well, it's a bit late to not go to the inspection that's set up tomorrow at 5pm, although it sounded like it was kind of a general inspection. I still think it might be worth looking at an apartment on the same street that does have a car spot, but Mum thinks two is enough for now.

Hmpf, I still feel like I should go sooner rather than later because you snooze, you lose and all that. Plus, the landlords look set to sell their apartment, which means they'll have money to do up the Granny Flat and will want the place measured and shit. Even if I was the neatest person in the world I don't really like the idea of random people just wandering through my living space.

So, we'll see what happens! In the meantime having seen how late it is I've got to haul ass to bed!

Tomorrow's going to be busy so wish me luck in all my endeavours!

For now, goodnight!

10:43pm: Who's the Bag? Macros Baghdatis! Man, I haven't seen him in years, but he's still alive and kicking. Although he's dropped way down the rankings to 85 so I'm not sure his chances are all that good and I probably won't get the chance to see it because I have to go to bed ASAP, tomorrow I need to start work at 8am and I want to be well-rested.

I made myself worry a bit the morning when I miscounted and thought I'd been only getting about 6 hours and 45 minutes worth of sleep instead of about 7 hours and 45 minutes. Fortunately that was just my terrible maths skills, but all the same I'm not actually getting those 7 hours and 45 minutes because I keep going to bed too late.

Anyway, today was the usual type of day, work at Mrs S's then work at the library. The weather was very nice today so it was a bit of a shame that I wasn't able to go out and enjoy it, although I'm not sure what I would have actually done...

I also almost went and saw one of the Granny Flats that I saw advertised yesterday, because it's a pretty good deal with bills included and everything, however I spoke to Mum who pointed out that my financial prospects will be much better when I finish paying the car off in early May. I did the sums and that's quite true, so perhaps I will wait until then and just pull my thumb out and keep the place clean. Although I'm still dragging my feet on that, I really need to get on that.

But as I said, not tonight! Instead I'll be crossing my fingers for the Bag and hoping I can do my Russian revision quickly!

For now good night!

11:27pm: Or probably more like two...the first part of today was ridiculously hot! Like it was all ready 30 degrees C at 8:30am when I was driving to work! The heat lasted until about 6pm, at which point the predicted storms started to break over my suburb and now, it's coming down out there and is also pretty damn windy. Tomorrow definitely looks like it'll be a day for long pants. I don't remember the weather being so over the place last year, but who knows, I could have just forgotten.

Anyway, it's later than it should be so I better keep this update short, there's not a lot to report regarding today anyway, just the normal stuff, work, the gym...but I did go to Sam, Jo and Mack's for dinner which was very yummy fish fingers, mashed potatoes and peas - I haven't had fish fingers in ages. And they really like the biscuits, even the off-cuts, LOL! Go me.

Also, Jo was nice enough to offer me the use of her old overlocker! That's the machine you use to hem clothes properly, which is certainly something I could use. Although it's not threaded right now so I'll have to figure out how to do that. I need to find the User Manual online because Jo couldn't find the one that came with the machine. I'll keep you updated on what, if anything I do with it.

Right, I better go, sorry for the short entry syndrome, I did have something to write about that I forgot to do yesterday, but alas I've managed to forget what it is again!

Oh, I re-donated the ice skates to Vinnies, because they probably were never going to be comfortable.

It's going to be a busy day for me tomorrow! Wish me luck!

10:38pm: I say this because my poor Misfit is missing! D: I last saw it at the swimming pool change room and I rushed back there this evening when I realised it was gone, but it wasn't there! I asked the people who were giving swimming lessons about lost property but it wasn't there either. Which is most worrying of all! Does that mean it's gone forever? Did one of the regulars pick it up and plan to give it back to me? Or maybe took it upstairs to the gym, I didn't think of that last one.

I'll have to call tomorrow, but daaaamnit. I remember looking at it there in the locker as I got changed after my swim and thinking that I better not forget it and what do I do? That's a great piece of fail on my behalf.

I'm further worried that I did take it with me and then it fell off later on, in which case it's truly gone forever.

Why does this happen? That cost me $55!

Bah! Moving on from this unpleasantness I spent this evening putting together all the sheets of printer paper together to make the shirt pattern before cutting out the pieces. I'm still not sure if I should go ahead using that though or search for an actual pattern, or maybe I should make a test shirt? Although the spare fabric I have would be most unpleasant for a shirt, LOL.

What else to report? Well, I still haven't heard back from five of my friends! Two of them (who go out) are in the Blue Mountains together which I guess would explain it, but what about the other three? Don't people check their phones these days? I was going to ring them, but I managed to forget, which is my own fault I suppose. I hope it won't be too late to do so tomorrow.

Anyway, I better do a meme so I don't end up too far behind!

Bring it On! )

In closing, the weather as promised finally decided to clear up, so hopefully Saturday will happen as forecast and finally it's Plushy's youngest son's birthday - or it was so Happy Birthday to him.

10:46pm: Well, it's calmed down now, but half an hour ago it was a real light show out there! Not so much thunder, but there were a few times when there was definite rumble. It was a super hot day today though, so not all that surprising. Although I didn't really have the chance to see how my new air-con would perform because I was at work from 1 to 5 at the library at the Mall.

In other news, I've made a start on my Christmas cards, although I need to buy another overseas stamp because while I was going through Tumblr today I saw a story about a girl who was the sole survivor of an arson attack on her family's home. Her big Christmas wish is to get cards from all over the world and I thought that's something I can do! So I've made her a card with Australian animals with Santa hats or antlers and what not. I hope she likes it!

So yes, gotta finish the rest so I can send them tomorrow, perferably before 6pm when the mail goes.

Oh! And I received my first card from my friend Sage. :O) I've hung it up on the slats that separate the main room from the bedroom area.

What else to report? There was something, but I've forgotten what it was now! Well, I did throw out the milk from yesterday, as per [personal profile] crossover_chick advised. I did ask the internet too, but the results were a totally mixed bag. It only cost $1.08, I'm cheap, but not that cheap. Although if it was still good it was a shame to waste it, oh well.

Now, I better do a meme or two before I head to bed. )

Yikes, the lightning and thunder is back and it's also still humid...I turned my air-con off, not sure if that was the best move. I'll defintely turn my fan on in my bedroom though.

And now, it's off to bed!

Goodnight all.

10:47pm: Yes...due to unforeseen circumstances I have had to put my gym membership on hold for two weeks - I only wanted to do it for one week, but two was the minimum. This means I haven't gone since last Friday! In fact, I haven't done exercise at all because of this problem, and it's a real bummer. :O( I've been getting into shape lately, having got back in the healthy BMI zone and having good muscle tone and whatnot, but two weeks of no exercise probably won't go over well. The reason I'm concerned is more to do with my costume, which I've taken in a bit to make it fit better, and if I put weight on it won't fit right anymore. Although...I think I mostly gain weight in my butt so I probably should be OK.

In other news, I remembered what I was going to say yesterday, on Tuesday night the cool change came through and blasted away the hot weather we'd being having with really huge winds. I woke up in the early morning to the sounds of it blowing past the front door which I'd left open to keep things cool. I wasn't all that bothered by that I went back to sleep again. However, while the position of my flat meant the wind didn't blow through it, the gate down the side of the house wasn't so lucky, the wind hit it so much that it was bent all out of shape. A fact I didn't know until I was hurrying to get to work and found I couldn't open it! It was totally jammed! For a few seconds I thought I was screwed and would have to call Mrs S and tell her I wouldn't be able to make it. Fortunately, I remembered there's another gate on the other side of the main house so I hurried over there and thankfully it wasn't damaged. It's a bit iffy going out that way since the people next door excavated a whole lot of soil, the walkway is quite narrow now, so I was a little worried I could trip and end up with a sprained ankle or something.

Suffice to say, I was OK! The gate was later fixed by N, so it really pays to have a handyman around.

As for today, not much has happened, aside from working on my costume, taking it in as I said and working on the tulle underskirt. I haven't done anymore work on the petticoat, although I might have to - horror of horrors - unpick it because of the uneven distribution of the netting. I shall keep you posted!

Not much else to say, except I better get to bed because I didn't get nearly enough sleep last night and I'm quite tired now.

Also I left one of my kitchen cabinets open and it's really annoying me, LOL.

10:16pm: Oh dear...this refrain again...I certainly hope it's weather related (from the rain that's set in) because the internet has been an absolute ass tonight. So slooooow.

However, I have exciting news! The Winter Festival is coming back to Sydney and it includes the outdoor ice rinks! One in the City in front of the Cathedral and the one at Bondi Beach! This is great! I found out about it yesterday actually because it was in a newspaper at Mrs S that I had to use for something. What luck I did too! Although I think my friend Caroline told me about the skating last year, so maybe I would have found out about it anyway.

Looking at the website for the Winter Festival - which is difficult with the internet being a butt - I see that tickets need to be booked for the open air ice rink in the city, which makes sense. I hope the tickets aren't too expensive...I can't remember how much it was to skate at Bondi. Oh well, as long as it's not like $40 or something.

Right I've managed to find out...it's $24, plus a service fee - rude! - and I don't see any discount for bringing one's own skates. Shame...I could spend a bit extra $32 plus service fee and get a hot chocolate in a souvineer mug for my trouble. Or perhaps I could see if a friend wants to come. The only issue with that would be I'm probably better than any of my friend's at skating, so it would be sort of annoying to have to stick with them going super slowly. On the other hand, there's not point in going if I'm not going to stay with the hypothetical friend.

Although, I haven't seen my friends, so maybe I should ask, just to see and I've done so on Facebook - with the best friends filter on.

What else to report? Well, I turned in quite early last night, which did me rather well, I think...although I was rather sleepy when I got home this afternoon. Weird.

Before I head off, I'd like to mention Million Dollar Minute, in the past two nights the winner has got the $20,000 (plus some additional safe money) and run! I wonder when will the next champ who wants to win big come?

On that note, I better be off, even though luckily I don't have to go to work early tomorrow like I thought I might have to, still I want to get the proper amounts of zzs.

11:34pm: Indeed so! The winds last night must have blown all the clouds away, but alas...I didn't end up going ice skating because my abdominal area is being a jerk...I don't know if it's middle of the month stuff - because some of the pain is like little cramps. Rude.

Anyway! I at least got to do my laundry without too much trouble today, although it was still wet so I've left it up on the line. I sure hope it doesn't rain tonight...although taking a look at the sky out there it doesn't seem likely.

Although, I didn't check the washing machine during the first load and it did that stupid stopping in the middle of the cycle thing, so I ended up having to take the car to church because I'd get there too late if I took the bus. The normal organist chap is away for some weeks so we've got the other guy, although sadly the hymns remain lame. Man, tonight for example we could have had some really uplifting ones, but nope.

Anyway, not much else to report, must remember to go to Aldi and Bunnings tomorrow as well as the gym. Although the ice rink does call to me...but we'll see I guess.

And before I go, the memes!

Saturday 9

:Battle Hymn of the Republic:

(From the archives)

1) This recording was made live at St. Patrick's Cathedral, during Sen. Robert Kennedy's funeral. (Hear it here.) While both of Bobby's older brothers were decorated war heroes, he served too -- enlisting in the Navy in 1943. Are you a veteran? Are there veterans in your family? (We are grateful and want to hear about it.) Me, no. But both my grandfathers were in the military, my paternal grandfather was in the army and went to Papua New Guinea during WWII, unfortunately he saw some bad things and it effected him greatly afterwards. He died quite young before I was born, so I never met him. As for my maternal grandfather he was fortunate that he didn't see much action, but apparently one of my maternal grandmother's uncles went to and survived Gallipoli! Which I just found out about last week, very interesting! I think he ended up on the Western Front afterwards, yikes, but he survived that too!

2) Memorial Day also kicks off the summer season. What's your favorite picnic food? Well it's not summer here in the Southern Hemisphere :OP But to answer your question...watermelon, nothing like watermelon on a picnic!

3) Name a scent that reminds you of someone special in your life. Hmmm, well my sense of smell is decidedly crappy, so I don't really know to be honest. I'm more likely to remember a picture or image...

4) When was the last time you had your hair cut or trimmed? It's been quite a while...I wonder if I should look into that, though my hair seems pretty OK at present.

5) Crazy Sam runs on Dunkin'. Are you loyal to a particular brand of coffee? Nope, don't like coffee.

6) If money was no object, what home improvement would you like to make this summer? Get a dishwasher...somehow...washing up by hand pisses me off no end!

7) What was the last thing you bought purely for your own enjoyment? Some nice winter green pjs from Coles. They sell all sorts of things there these days...

8) When was the last time you rode a bike? Damn...not in ages, I've toyed with buying a bike on and off, but...yeah not sure.

9) Sam worries that many of her song selections reflect her decidedly Baby Boomer sensibilities. Is there a song or a performer that you'd like to see featured in a Saturday 9 this summer? Um...The Corrs, although to be honest, since I don't link to my answers the blog owner will never know this! :OP

Righto, it's almost midnight so better wrap this up!
