11:59pm: OK, so I've slacked this week with the whole updating thing and though I'm starting this update before midnight I'm not gonna finish it before the day ticks over!

And I'm still behind on The Friday Five, but tomorrow is the morning tea at Mum and Dad's retirement village and I have to deliver my cupcakes by 9:30am (or possibly 9am!) so I no time to stay up late.

The weather has totally been all over the place this week, chilly outside, but my apartment is well insulated so I'm quite hot and need to turn the fan on so I can sleep. It's rather weird.

In other news it's the last Junior Grand Prix event and the menfolk are skating now, it's happening in China so I had hopes that the time zones would work out better for me, I did manage to see the whole Ladies SP, but I'll have to turn in before the menfolk finish so I won't know who'll wins until tomorrow. Ah well.

Apart from that not much else to report, except I've been playing Sims 4 all week, Alternate Lady Bigwallet has almost reached the top of her aspiration! Once she does, she and Shea the gardener can get married and have kiddies for the next generation. For all my attempts with Hill Valley in Sims games I've never actually had a full generation before, so this will be interesting. I am kind of missing playing my Woodstone Sims in Sims 3, I'm pretty sure season 4 of Ghosts premiered today, but just taking a quick look, it's actually next week. Phew! :OP

Also it's been busy at work, next week we need to do a Time and Motion Study because the Big Manager wants to know if we're working efficiently or something like that. I'm not sure what to think about that... Changes may be afoot, but our jobs are safe or at least that's what my supervisor says. Fingers crossed I guess!

10:14pm: Yes, it's Leap Forward Time Down Under! Which I'm very pleased about because I love it when the sun is up in the late afternoon and evening. The downside, of course, is that at the start of the process an hour is lost...so it's actually more like 11:14pm right now, in which case I better make this quick because I'm off to Archery tomorrow morning and it'll start at what feels like 8am rather than 9am!

Not much to report, although I'm working on a new cross stitch having finished Pusheen on a tropical beach (although I might add one more detail), it's Pusheen doing Archery (of course!) :O) However since this requires a bit more deviation from the patterns that came in the Pusheen cross stitch kits I've just had to unpick half of it because of a mistake, whoops.

After a week and a half I finally got back to the gym today, yay, so I'm feeling good about that.

I've also noticed that more Friday Fives are available, but I might have skip those for now because I really should get my butt in bed! It seems that short entries are my life right now :OP I blame Sims, I'm still playing Sims 4 and Lady, who's doing really well, I've actually had her start doing cross stitch as well XD

There's also skating, which is another downside, I suppose, of daylight saving in that everything is now an hour (soon to be two) hour later than it was before. This means it's a lot harder for me to catch competitions that take place in Europe live because they start at like 11pm or midnight.

10:39pm: OK, I don't actually have a good subject heading for this post, my mother and I have just finished watching our shows, which means I should be getting ready for bed, but I figured I'd post a little update before heading off.

Not much to report, although apparently after a few days of been mostly warm, it's going to be cold and rainy tomorrow and into the weekend, which kinda sucks. I hope it isn't raining on Sunday for archery, as mentioned they apparently only cancel if there's lightning, but I can't really imagine been able to shoot a bow with any accuracy whatsoever with rain pouring on my glasses.

In other news, we've got training tomorrow morning, which sucks, firstly because, training is always a drag, often you get told shit you already know and then you have to roleplay situations an it's all awkward. Secondly, that's 3.5 hours away from my actual work tasks, such as the Inter Library Loans and QC-ing the new items. We're falling behind on the latter again and this training won't help. On the plus side it is only down the road from my apartment, so at least I don't have to go far.

Finally, I did do a Sims 4 session, but ended up not saving because poor Gardner Shea is not having the best honeymoon, I sent him and Lady to the jungle, but he keeps getting attacked by various creatures. When I left the game he was on fire! o.O I hope the game's not trying to kill him off, because seriously, the audacity.

On that note, I better be off, hopefully I might have a more interesting update tomorrow. Good night!

11:08pm: I was going so well too! Although I did have to work today, which meant when I realised how late it was getting last night in between watching the Junior Figure Skating GP and playing Sims 4 I just shut my laptop screen and headed for bed.

Yesterday was most busy at work actually, there were boxes, Inter Library Loans, invoice checking and a desk shift! I had to catch up on the invoices at work today, which I'm not really supposed to do, but it wasn't super busy so I think I got away with it.

Apart from that, not much else to report, I also have to head to bed soon tonight because it's archery tomorrow! I'm really looking forward to it! I hope I can get into the Adbow Kidbow class, I should otherwise I don't think the coach would have mentioned it last week.

Finally, regarding the previous entry and Lady Bigwallet's lip mole, I did end up giving her one, but on the left side rather than the right to indicate it's a parallel universe, LOL, which I thought was pretty smart :OP I wonder if I should post about it on Tumblr or something? Am I allowed to do that, do I have to ask permission first? And if I do would I even be brave enough to do so?

Also to add to the previous entry, the unpicking of my cross-stitch was successful and I'm redoing the beach umbrella in red and white so it doesn't blend in so much with the sky and ocean (not that I've figured out entirely what blues to use with the ocean...)

Right, the ice dancing competition is getting ready to go into the ice resurfacing which takes like 15 minutes, so I'm not gonna see who wins, boo :OP

Also no Friday Five! Ah well...wish me luck tomorrow and hopefully I'll remember to update about it! (I forgot to tell Facebook about last week, guess I"ll have to do two in a row).

10:30pm: Yes indeed, which honestly is probably the last thing I need, because Sims 3 is already plenty addictive without adding a second game to it! But while watching some of the member videos on James Turner's channel, I saw that someone had re-created the gardener, who Lady Bigwallet I was originally going to pursue a relationship, until the game crashed before James could save it and the gardener was lost forever :O( As it turned out someone had also made a Lady Bigwallet I, so I thought to myself...why not download them both and get them together in an alternate world? Which is what I've been up to this evening while at my parents place and it's proven to be most amusing, especially since as James did, Lady has no money, so at the moment she's scrounging around and carrying her bed everywhere since she doesn't actually have a house yet, LOL. I've had quite a bit of luck fishing, but I'm not sure how I'm meant to save up enough money to buy walls...

Meanwhile the gardener - Shea - does in fact have a house, so I guess I could get Lady to romance him and move in, then she could work on getting rich as is her aspiration. They're actually already flirting and it's quite cute :O)

Moving onto non-Sims related news, work was busy today, as it's Wednesday which is Inter Library Loans courier day, also there's a delivery of books to get through...there was also the monthly staff meeting. I have to say I'm not a fan of meetings...although my supervisor always has a treat and this time it was scones! :OD Still you can't work on other stuff at meetings, so...

Interesting enough our increasing workloads were on the agenda, apparently the big boss wants us to do more Collection Analysis and stuff, although currently we don't really have time for that, so some other stuff might have to be changed. I feel like that might end up being quality checking the books, which we're all resistant to because of various reasons. But I guess you gotta do what the big boss says.

Anywho, Mum and I successfully watched all our favourite funny shows, but I should wrap this up now and try to get to bed before 11pm for once!

10:33pm: I'm afraid so...and it's also a cautionary tale about not forgetting to check your phone for messages, because this afternoon at 5pm I headed out in the car to go to my parents place to do the handover with the tenant's daughter.

I wasn't too far from home when my mobile rang - which reminds me, I totally need to do something about my ringtone, it goes for like three seconds, WTF? - so by the time I pulled over and got my phone out I'd all ready missed the call.

Anyway, I returned it and the tenant asked if I'd gotten her SMS, I said I hadn't (although it turned out I had, I just hadn't noticed it!) and she apologised asking if we could meet Saturday instead. I said "Fine" although we haven't yet agreed on a time, I have to get back to her on that. When I got a look at the SMS I saw she was stuck in a meeting, well I suppose what can you do?

As I said, I hadn't got too far, so I turned the car around and came back here to the flat, where I've been sitting on my butt since then, LOL.

In other news, today was library day where I received amazing information...there's another part-time library job going at Manly! Holy cow, why was I not informed! Damn it email alerts get it together! I should have seen this ages ago because it closes tomorrow evening at 10pm. Yikes! So I have to put a cover letter together quick smart. I got so close last time...

Although this one is for 21 hours a week, which probably would require me to leave my job with Mrs S...or maybe not...doing the maths if I could keep both jobs I'd have a 37 hour week, which is quite doable. Fingers and toes crossed my friends!

Not much else to report, and I have to go to bed soon, so I guess I'll wrap this up! I don't think I have anything else to say...except I was reminded by crossover_chick that I need to get back into Sims 4, especially since I got the expansion pack.

11:09pm: 'Cause I don't have one! Today was a typical Friday for me, with volunteering at the library - good times, good times - this day was dedicated to going over the audio book collection, basically I have to go through and see if the case need fixing or if a patron has noted a problem with one of the discs on the little form on the inside cover. I didn't get through the whole collection of course, but I think I did a very good job indeed.

After that I went and picked up a few things from Aldi, including a very nice green kitchen scale, I hadn't actually planned to although I'd seen them advertised in the catalogue last week, but it was only 10 bucks and it would be very handy in my cupcake making, so I got it. I also bought a very cute tea towel with cupcake print on it.

I did though forget to go to Coles so I have no chocolate mousse, boo. And I also forgot to buy any cucumbers, shame.

My friend from yesterday sent me a message asking if I wanted to come over and then later on we could get some dinner in Dee Why. I texted back that I really needed to do some job applying (the Mosman Library job closes on Tuesday) but dinner sounded good, alas, he texted back to say that something had come up so no dice. Although, he did want to know what I was doing tomorrow, which aside from church is nothing, but he hasn't got back to me.

I also did my laundry, including my sheets - however, I later found out from Mum's friend that apparently their electricity plan is one that charges a higher rate between 2pm and 7pm and there I was drying my sheets in the dryer! Whoops. Note to self, do laundry in the morning, not the afternoon/evening.

Aaand, I did work on my job application, but I didn't complete it. I really hope that all the applications are read even the ones that come in last because otherwise I could kick myself! Tomorrow, self! Tomorrow!

Also, I neglected to sim today :O( maybe I'll sneak in a quick bit of play before I head off to bed tonight... which means I'll skip the memes for tonight so I won't be up until the wee hours doing that.

10:09pm: Sadly so...all day long - or at least since 2pm I've had a terrible headache which paracetamol hasn't done shit for and stomach pains. Ow, ow, ow. What is this? I mean I know I didn't have a proper breakfast this morning, but I wouldn't have thought that could cause such digestive upset. On the other hand the headache is being an ass...I wonder if I should take some more paracetamol, or just wait for bed time, which won't be too long. Actually, I wonder if I should record Homes Under the Hammer because I need to get up earlier than usual tomorrow because I have to get to Centrelink by 8:30, this is due to the fact that I'm supposed to have an appointment with them at 9:45. Which is a time I can't make, but when I tried to call to change the appointment, I couldn't get through! Or rather I could, but I would have been on hold for more than 90 minutes. Fuck that. Honestly, those guys need to hire more people to work the phones, because who has time to be on hold that long?

I really hope my stomach and head will be better tomorrow...because I don't need this when I'm going to TAFE and all that.

In other news, today was Father's Day, but we didn't end up getting together after all, because first the little bro couldn't come, then I woke up late and was only just getting out of the shower when Mum called to ask if I wanted to be picked up. When I asked if they could wait until I got dressed she remarked that Dad had a lot of school work to mark, so they were in a bit of a hurry and since we only saw each other the other day it didn't seem necessary. I didn't even make Dad a card! Shame on me... Hopefully, Dad had a good day anyway.

9:46pm: I got it! The Sims 4! My excitement is somewhat tempered by the fact that despite the fact I bought physical disks I apparently still need to download it and it's taking for-fucking-ever! I don't get it, I've got the disc inserted and everything, there's two of them, so one would assume the game is on them, but whenever I try to run the installation program it just says to connect to the internet. How annoying, especially since Australian internet is so damn slow - I swear it's going to take two hours to download the game at the rate it's going.

But! I'm still excited because the Limited Edition that I bought is beaaautiful! But alas I can't show you it because I can't do anything on the internet with the game downloading. Bah, humbug! But I do have the pics ready to put on my Photobucket when I get the chance.

School Discoveries

We all had to read lots of different things in school—some of which we liked, some of which we didn’t. Are there any authors that you’ve grown to love because you were introduced to them in your English Lit class? Or—the contrary. Are there any you hate because you were forced to read them? Did you ever go back to try them again?

Funny you should mention this! I've just started reading the Kay Scarpetta series by Patricia Cornwell, which I was first exposed to in Year 10 as it was once of our assigned texts. One of the few that I really enjoyed! I ended up buying quite a few books in the series, although some of the latter books apparently suck ass and I haven't actually got around to reading those, this time hopefully.
As for ones I hated? There were quite a few and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't like them even if I tried reading them again, because they're just not my bag.

Anything else to report? Well I had to go to Mission Australia, which I guess was fair enough, it turned out to be a good idea though because I got a chance to ask about the 10 jobs a fortnight thing and whether that's really feasible because of the TAFE course. As a result I now only have to look for 6, which is a bit easier. Also, the person seems to think that my ADHD should entitle me to some extra help and asked me to get my pyschiatrist to fill out a form. I couldn't have sworn I looked into this all ready and Centrelink said I wasn't odd enough, but I guess there's no harm in trying.

On the downside, though all this running around meant I got home quite late and for once Mum finished work at a reasonable hour so I was only mixing the batter when she called to say she had just picked up my little bro and was on the way. So in the end I took my cupcake maker and the batter and the whipped cream with me to the parentals new place, which is looking very nice although their main bedroom still isn't finished.

We had roast chicken, Mum opened the presents she got - chocolate! - and the cupcakes with not-quite whipped cream and then contrary to what I planned, the little bro and I got into the BMW where the plan was for him to drive me to my flat - where I'd get my bag - which I'd managed to leave behind that had my wallet in it - and then we'd drive on to the little brother's abode and then I'd drive back here to the flat. I didn't really want to do that, because driving in the dark is not my idea of fun, but as it turned out we caught up with a bus that goes past my little bro's flat and he kindly took it, so I only had to drive back to my flat. And I got back here in the nick of time because it's being pouring down with rain since then. I hope it's better tomorrow, although I do still have an umbrella and tomorrow morning at least I'll be able to use the car, I have to take it back to Mum and Dad's and then she'll drop me off at the library before it's time for me to go to the grandparentals.

Although...at the rate things are going I won't have a chance to play the new Sims until Sunday! Come on, internet put your back into it!

11:09pm: So I finally got around to looking more closely into the nearest gym with a pool and the cost of membership seems comparable with my current membership at the North Sydney Leagues Club and there might even be a discount because I'm a student. So yeah, I decided I better get around to cancelling my membership, so I rang up the Leagues Club only to find that crap! You've got to give two weeks notice. I guess that's better than getting a $400 fee for breaking a 'contract' or whatever, but still...Looks like I have to go to Leagues Club gym until the end of the month. I won't be able to go in a sign the cancellation form until Friday, which actually makes it 6th September. Well, we'll see maybe I'll write off one week as an acceptable $16 loss.

Anything else to report? Nah, not really, although today's TAFE class was very involved, there always seems to be heaps to do on Wednesday's and heavy stuff too. We looked at some of the more difficult aspects of looking after older people and also at grief and berevement. So yeah, bit of a bummer that...

Good thing there's cute stuff to look at on Tumblr when I got home!

Oh, and I do have something to report, the new Create-a-Sim demo is fantastic! It's so easy to make your Simmies now. Unfortunately, it doesn't let you take pictures, or if they do I can't find them on my computer. That's the one issue with Sims games since 2, they stick the photos in the most incomprehensible locations with filenames that mean nothing. But I'm sure I'll have lots of piccies to post when I get the game next month. Ooo I may have to resurrect my Sims journal, on Dreamwidth because LJ's update page is just a disaster these days.

Aaand that pretty much sums up my day, I don't have to get to bed as early as usual because my volunteering has moved to the afternoon rather than the morning, and I'll be doing the Inter-Library Loan stuff, exciting! Still, I better not stay up too late, I didn't get to bed until a bit late last night and when I don't get enough zzzs things go downhill for me. :OP
