7:42pm: So it's been a while since I've updated, because life has been slow, however I do have some very cool news to report.

Yesterday I was part of an archery round that had handicaps, there were different distances people could shoot and a handicap would be added to an archer's overall score to even everything out. Or at least that's what I assume they did. Being a newbie, I of course opted for the shortest distance because the day before I was on a target that started at 30m away and boy did I ever suck at it XD.

However! I had much better luck with 20m, 15m and 10m, even when the target faces got smaller - in fact I seemed to shoot better the smaller the target (we started with a 122cm one for 20 and 15m, then an 80cm one for the 10m and hen a 40cm). Go me!

Still, I definitely did not expect that at the end of the round I would be declared the overall winner!! :OD The prize I got was this golf umbrella with a target printed on it. It's really cool! I saw someone with one last week and wondered where the person got it and was told that it was a prize, so I figured if I wanted one I'd have to fork over actual money. Not so!

How neat is that? I'm quite proud of myself, obviously a 10m target is pretty dang close - I think that might be the distance people shoot darts at - but considering the first time I tried shooting a bow at Year Six I actually shot the bow instead of the arrow this is a huge improvement!

Although I do need an arm guard after all, not sure what's changed, but the string hit the inside of my elbow a couple of times before I borrowed one and there's a bruise there now. I got a second hand one at onsite shop which will hopefully work, otherwise I'll have to drop some dough to get a new one.

I also need to get some sun sleeves, because the weather is warming up and wearing a long sleeve shirt leads to a lot of sweating. Sun sleeves just cover your arms to prevent sunburn, although they only seem to be available online, so I guess I'll have to purchase them that way.

So yeah, that's my exciting news :OP Otherwise life continues as normal, although I need to make a start on my Christmas cards, they're mostly going to overseas people on the figure skating forum I'm a member of so I need to send them sooner rather than later, otherwise they won't arrive in time. But then I'm also playing Sims 4 a lot, they're got another sale going on so I'm thinking of getting a few more expansions - I probably shouldn't be encouraging EA, but it's fun! Sometimes the game does act a bit weird, but nothing too game breaking - fingers crossed!

On that note though I shall wrap this up so I can get to work on some of that stuff, but I shall do

These questions were written by allude on LJ.

1. What is your favorite childhood memory? My family's three month trip around the world when I was nine almost ten. It was seriously awesome! We went to both Disneyland and Euro-Disney, went to school in England for a bit, travelled all around Wales, England and Scotland and on the way back we stopped for New Year's Eve in Hong Kong. So many memories...

2. If you could be reincarnated as anything besides human, who would you want to be? I always wanted to be a dolphin! I'd have to steer clear of nets and killer whales though!

3. If you had to start your life all over, what are three things you would change? Hmm...that's a hard one, I guess first I'd get rid of the IBS because screw that, nix the anxiety issues as well and...that's all that comes to mind, I don't want to change too much, otherwise I might end up not being me!

4. If you had to forget everything in your life, except one thing, what would it be? Geeze...that sounds terrible! I guess...does my family count as one thing? It better because that's what I'd want to remember.

5. Do you have a lucky charm? Nah, not really. I do have a little Chef Pusheen stuffie that I wear on my backpack that I wear to work, so maybe that? Or my Pusheen wristlet where I keep my bus pass.

Righto, ta ta for now!

10:27pm: Sorry for the lack of updates lately, but fear not you haven't missed anything exciting from me :OP Same old same old really, aside from the Time and Motion thing we've been doing at work. As I think of mentioned it's proving to be a bit of an ass because I don't really work in that manner, so it does stress me out a bit.

Meanwhile my house remains an utter mess, I really gotta do something about that especially because in November there's gonna be an inspection because the Strata Committee has hired some company to look for any defects. Since I'm not on the committee I have no idea if this is because people are having issues or because the apartment building is over 5 years old now. The builders are on the hook for most things for a five year period once the building is finish, but that would have been earlier this year (I moved in as soon as the place was finished in 2019), but who knows. So yeah, definitely got to have the place looking like a proper human lives here, LOL. Although, there's the winter garden to consider...I've got quite a bit of stuff out there as well. Dang.

In other news I've been wanting to catch up on those Friday Fives, although I'm not entirely sure which was the last one I did so I must have left off updating for longer than I thought LOL... but I think I've figured it out now so let's get to it!

Friday 5

13/9/24

These questions were written by Dreamwidth user zenigotchas.

1. What's the strangest, unexplainable incident you have experienced or have heard of? Does the Orange Thing getting elected President of the USA count? Because that's some crazy shit right there. In all seriousness, I don't think I've ever experience anything truly inexplicable personally. Some stuff you read about the Bermuda Triangle is pretty out there though, like that squadron of planes that disappeared, where did they go? Spooky.

2. Which mythical creatures or cryptids do you think are most likely to exist or have existed? Hmm... maybe the Yeti or Big Foot? They could be the missing link between humans and the great apes. There's probably not any of them around anymore though.

3. If you became a mythical figure how do you think you'd be portrayed? Umm...hmm...the Messy One, all hail chaos :OP

4. What animal do others find creepy that you find cute? I think octopuses are pretty cute...although that's mostly cartoon ones XD Although after our office at work was rearranged there were these photos from a competition that we could hang up and I was voted down in my choice of a underwater photograph of a striped octopus which I thought was pretty cute, but my office colleagues did not care for at all!

5. What is your favorite lost civilization? Can't go past Atlantis! I really enjoyed that Indiana Jones game about it that Lucas Arts released back in the 90s.

26/9/24

1. Most everyone will recommend a book or two to read, but are there any you would tell people to avoid? Well certainly not anything "written" by the Orange one. All kidding aside, I probably wouldn't recommend Twilight or 50 Shades, because they objectively suck.

2. If you take a book on vacation, are you more likely to take something you haven't read yet or an old favorite? Probably something I haven't read yet, although these days I read rather slowly so it might take me longer than the trip to finish it!

3. Do you read any genres by the season? Like horror around Halloween? Cozy Mysteries in the Winter? Romance in the Summer? Nah, although that kind of sounds like a fun idea...

4. If you read a lot of Fiction do you prefer an author that has a series with the same character(s), or do you prefer stand-alone stories? Definitely, the first one, I like to get to know a character and see how they develop over a period of time in stories. :O)

5. Is there a book that you wish you could read again, but experience it like it was the first time? Hmm...that's a toughie...I feel like there's so many books like that for me! Maybe the first Agatha Christie book, because that was such a hard puzzle that I couldn't figure out and then it all came together so awesomely!

Right, so time is getting on and I've got archery tomorrow (I've decided to join the club and even purchase my own bow and arrows) and then I'm picking up Grandpa and driving over to my parents place for lunch, so I should make sure I get enough zzzs.

Oh and it's too late in California, but Happy First Travelling Through Time Day to all my fellow Backies! :OD I should try and get another McFly July prompt up before 5:04pm tomorrow. We'll see how it goes!

Goodnight all!

9:30pm: Yes! I finally got the game to open and reconnect with Trevor, Hetty, Thor, Sass, Pete, Isaac, Alberta and Flower, as Isaac would say "Huzzah!"

I also went to my Hill Valley save to see if that would load up, which it did, hooray! Although, Biff's grandma (currently a teen) manage to set the kitchen on fire... and because her family lives in a tiny apartment in Chicago the fireperson took their sweet time getting up there and then just stood around for most of the Sim day. Fortunately Gertrude's father managed to put out the fire himself. LOL, just crazy Sims 3 stuff.

In real life news, today was the last Beginner's Archery lesson! I started off pretty well, despite the wind (which because of how close we were to the target didn't actually affect the arrow, but it did make it harder to aim with the bow!), but I still can't quite figure out the damn sight thing, is it too low? Is it too high? Too much to the left? Or the right? Who even knows :OP

However, I along with the rest of the class passed and we each get a certificate that says we know enough about archery now to be safely admitted to any archery field in Australia and the world. Wow nice! And next Sunday I'll be heading down again to hopefully join the Adbow class (which I've belated realised stands for Adult Bow, as Kid Bow is obviously for kids, don't know how I missed that one).

I also found out what sized bow I should have, which unsurprisingly is a shorter one than what I had... although the poundage of the draw-back (if that's the right term) tends to be heavier, which is a bit of a worry for me since I'm a weakling. Also if I do buy my own bow, unlike the ones we've been practicing with are metal rather than wood and heavier. Man... shakes head. Still it would be pretty neat to have my own bow with a green riser (the part that you hold), although that might be a bit much, the cheapest bow you can get (that's not second hand or whatever) is like $250. Might be a bit much, since I did buy my own ice skates, which i haven't used in ages, grumbles at self.

Anyway! After archery I went straight to my Aunt and Uncle's place for the family brunch, and thankfully it was literally just around the corner, because Mum told me to come at 11, but it was more like 11:30. I didn't miss the brunch though, which was great because it was delicious! Also I'm relieved to announce that my blueberry muffins tasted great! I was honestly a bit concerned about them yesterday when they seemed kind of...over cooked. However, my aunt put them in the microwave for like 40 seconds before serving them and they were nice and soft. Huzzah! Also despite my concern there was a nice amount of dollop cream left over, which as agreed I got to take home as well as a few leftover muffins. Hmmm...I wonder if I should take them into the office, maybe not as there's only 3.

I dropped Dad home on my way back to my place, where I got my Sims game going and continued to watch James Turner's Bigwallet marathon, which is set to end around 10pm tomorrow night. Which is probably for the best because it makes for very addictive watching LOL.

Also distracting! It's a quarter past 10 now, so I better haul, before I go though...

1. What's the strangest, unexplainable incident you have experienced or have heard of? Hmm...well the Bermuda Triangle stuff used to sound pretty creepy, but there seems to be logical explanations for all of that. I guess...they time I had this dream at camp and the very next day it came true! O.o Unfortunately, it wasn't a very fun dream. Creepy!

2. Which mythical creatures or cryptids do you think are most likely to exist or have existed? Hmmm...I dunno... maybe Big Foot? Although it'd pretty cool if there used to be unicorns.

3. If you became a mythical figure how do you think you'd be portrayed? Hmm... I honestly haven't got a clue, depends what sort of mythical figure I became! If it was a Greek Goddess I'd probably be a really beee-eetch.

4. What animal do others find creepy that you find cute? *Scratches head* I'm not sure I can think of one to be honest. Charlotte, from Charlotte's web is pretty cute for a spider, but then that was probably the point of the animation. LOL.

5. What is your favorite lost civilization? Well, you can't really go past Atlantis can you? That would indeed be a sight to see!

And now it's past 10:30, so I better wrap this up and head off.

10:56pm: Indeed! The free skate of the Junior Women's program at the Junior GP is about to head into the last group - aka when the medals get decided, but alas there's an ice resurfacing, which takes about 15 minutes and tomorrow is Archery day so I need to head to bed. Which I should have done last night with the pairs, but I didn't and ended up staying up until near 1:30am! And I had to get early enough to take the cupcakes to the Get Together at my parents' retirement village.

I did manage to do that though! And good news... the cupcakes were much loved and there were none left over! Which is also bad news, because that means I don't have any left over to enjoy myself. Actually that's not true, I did in fact have two left over, but I ate those yesterday. That'll learn me :OP

Anyway, Mum wasn't at the Get together as she was somewhere else, so I decided to stick around, I probably should have helped hand food out, but they had a new jigsaw puzzle ready to go and I couldn't help myself! It's a photo of the Sydney Opera House and Circular Quay, I got all the corner pieces together and also did most of the Opera House, which is kind of the easiest part, LOL. I wonder how it'll go, I might need to ask Mum to go check on it for me.

After the Get Together I went to Mum and Dad's to drop off the book Mum asked me to borrow for her and then headed back here to the apartment. I briefly considered going out to ice skate, but I was feeling lazy so I didn't :OP instead I sat on my butt and watched James Turner's Bigwallet 24 hour stream which is currently on Day 8 (it'll take 19 to get through the whole series!), read and did some more cross stitch. I actually tried to film the latter like when I did my jigsaw puzzles and posted them on Insta, but it didn't work so well. Ah well.

So yes, tomorrow is my third archery lesson and then I go up to the church my parents and I usually go to on Saturday evening for the 50th Anniversary Mass - it starts at 11am which is when the archery lesson ends, so I'm not sure if I should hurry to get there or not. There won't be any other masses I can go to - unless I go down to Narrabeen (a few suburbs away), so if I miss that one that's it. They're having a party afterwards though, so that's why I'm going. I guess we'll see what goes down.

Time is getting on, but before I head off...

Friday Five

13/10/23

1. Are you superstitious? Not really...although on the other hand I do say "Knock on wood" a lot, so maybe I secretly am!

2. Which superstitions do you believe in and act on? Well, I certainly don't like it whenever someone opens an umbrella inside! But that might have more to do with possibly getting a spoke to the eye. That's about it though.

3. What superstition does someone close to you believe in and act on? Um...hmmm, not sure to be honest, my mother is super against Ouji Boards and horoscopes. But since she's not a teenage girl in a horror movie she doesn't really need to worry about being exposed to the former and with the latter she just doesn't read them!

4. Do you take any extra precautions on Friday the 13th? Nah, but I do announce to everyone that it's "Friday the 13th" though! XD

5. Do you secretly judge superstitious people? Nah, but having said that I don't think I actually know anyone who's superstitious, or if I do they're not really in my face about it, LOL.

Righto, on that note, I shall be off!

Wish me luck!

11:14pm: Which I put on quite late because I totally forgot about doing it while I was busy making cupcakes for the Old Folk's Get-Together at Mum and Dad's retirement village tomorrow morning. Fortunately, my washing machine has a quick, but efficient cycle.

However, I figured I better give a quick update before it gets way too late... Interesting day at work - so to speak - only me and one other colleague were in today! My direct supervisor doesn't work Thursdays and Fridays and the other three all took the day off. However, I feel like the two of there got quite a bit done with the quality checking the books from the delivery we got on Wednesday. The number of boxes are much more reasonable now, I think I mentioned before, but because of the end of financial year we don't order for like two months, so when July rolls around suddenly there's a surge! But yeah we've got a reasonable amount now.

Of weirder work news, two birds somehow got into the library today - I've worked there for like 6 years now and this has never happened before! Fortunately, they were small birds, but unfortunately they kept flying around and because of the big windows in the library and the height of the ceilings there didn't seem to be any way to get them out! When my colleague and I left the library manager and another one of the branch staff were still trying to get them out through the fire door. Hopefully they managed it! I wonder if I should have stayed behind, it would have meant getting the bus home, but it seemed a bit mean to leave them in the lurch!

Anyway, the cupcakes are frosted and in their cupcake carrier ready to go tomorrow morning, I also got a book that my mother requested I reserve for her so I have to make sure I take that along too tomorrow morning, although apparently Mum won't be at the Get-Together, I think she might be doing Chair Yoga or something.

Before I go though...

Friday Five

6/9/24

These questions were written by Dreamwidth user got_quiet.

1. What is the last shower thought you had (aka random thought in the shower or during downtime) I was just thinking - while watching the pairs free program at the JGP of figure skating how weird the concept of a throw jump is. Who came up with that? And how did they get their partner to agree to such a crazy proposition?!

2. What is the last thing you changed your mind about? Hmm...I have to say I'm rather stubborn and not apt to change my mind, LOL. Nothing comes to my mind right now!

3. What was the last low-stakes argument you were in about? Hmmm...probably something at work about my tendency to ask "What if..?" It's a rather irritating issue I have! It was all good-natured though.

4. What is an idea you have that you know would probably never work, but it would be cool if it did? An equal providing of food to the world, we do actually produce enough food to feed everyone, but it's not equally available which is a real bummer :O( Unfortunately, capitalism makes this idea impossible. Boo-urns.

5. Who is someone who has ideas you like, or take inspiration from?

Hmm...well, one of my co-workers always has good ideas for how to do work more efficiently and what not, which is much appreciated! Also Mum, she always has ideas about how to do things.

On that note, I shall be off, that laundry won't hang itself unfortunately!

I wrote and posted a McFly July prompt this evening, so hooray for that :O)

Apart from that not much else to report, work was busy, but fun as usual - yeah I have fun at work - I did have an unexpected desk shift, but it wasn't too bad fortunately (sometimes the desk can be a seriously pain in the butt).

I'll tell you what I haven't been doing as I should be...cleaning my apartment, which I seriously need to do by Wednesday evening otherwise my parents are gonna kick my ass so hard.

On that note, let's Meme and run!

30/8/24

These questions were written by moirariordan on LJ.

1. Do you believe that music can have a direct effect on your life? Hmm...well, I've never been moved by a song to take a new life path or whatever, so maybe not? I do enjoy listening to music though, especially in the car.

2. What is your current favorite song? Man, that's a tough one...there's lots of songs I enjoy! But if I had to pick one ummm... Kiss of Life by The Corrs, which is not current, but I don't really get into whatever the children are listening to now a days. :OP

3. What's the one song from junior high that you can still rattle off all the words to? We don't have junior high in Australia, primary school goes from Kindergarten to Year 6, and then High School is Year 7 to 12, but I guess middle school is like Year 6 to 8, so umm...maybe a song from The Corrs first album? But don't trust me on that ;OP

4. Did you have a prom song? Don't be embarrassed, we all did it. Don't have prom as such in Australia either, our dances are called Formals and we really only had one in Year 10 and Year 12. And there was no specific song for it. We DID sing or play Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) at the last school assembly in Year 12, so let's go with that.

5. Do you and your significant other have a "song" that you share? N/A.

Righto, bed calls, funnily enough, James Turner is running a 24/7 livestream on YouTube of his Big Wallet Legacy, and even though I've recently watched them, it's fun to have them going again. I hope I haven't missed anymore archery at the Paralympics though!

10:17pm: For archery tomorrow. I wasn't going to, because the internet seemed to be of the opinion that top archers don't shut one eye when shooting, but firstly I ain't a top archer and secondly, the para-archers who are currently competing close one eye though. Not sure how to account for the difference... they are using compound bows so I guess that might make a difference, but whatever. I did have a bit of scare when I could locate said eyepatch after trying it out, turns out it had fallen into my shopping bag. I really do need to clean up my house, especially since Mum, Dad and (possibly) the little bro are coming over on Thursday to celebrate Mum's birthday. It's actually the day before, but she's already got plans. So yeah, gotta fix that.

I also have to make a card for Dad for Father's Day, which means I gotta wrap this entry up quickly because I won't have time to make it tomorrow and it's not like I can stay up until stupid o'clock, archery starts at 9am tomorrow.

Also my digestive system has been somewhat annoyed today, I've taken some Buscopan for it, but I'm thinking a good night's sleep will be helpful for it.

Also I think I may have sat down too much today catching up on figure skating because my knee is deciding to be a butt again. Very rude.

Before I head off though...

9/11/23

1. What is on your bucket list that you want to do in the next ten years? Visit my big bro and his family in Japan, although that's locked in for next year, I've already paid a deposit and stuff for a tour my mother and I will be doing over there. So I should probably have another bucket list item...um...visit the US and the BTTF filming sites.

2. What bucket list items have you completed and enjoyed? I haven't really thought about a bucket list prior to that first question there, so I'm not really sure, LOL. Maybe get decent at archery?

3. What bucket list items did you accomplish but they weren't as great as you hoped or expected? See above. I'm trying to think of something now, LOL... Ummm... I got nothing.

4. What short term goal(s) are you currently working on? Cleaning up my apartment and keeping it tidy.

5. What middle term goal(s) do you have, and are you working on them? Get better at archery - I'm currently doing Beginner Classes which I have three more to do. Not sure what'll happen after that, I might have to redo the course depending on how I go.

Right, it's getting towards 11pm, and like I said I've got to do that card, wish me luck!

10:48pm: Yeah seriously, my left knee in particular has decided to hurt like a mofo for no reason I can discern. I don't think I did anything particularly weird while walking or otherwise standing up today... But my knees are known for being jerks, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

There's a lot of sports I like to watch on today - there's the figure skating, the para-archery, various sorts of sports climbing and La Vuelta in Spain (although I haven't heard my favourite team being mentioned in some time). However, it is getting late so I'll need to turn in soon.

Apart from that not much to report, except I'm not sure what rating to give this book I was reading, which I was rather enjoying at first, but the plot took a direction that I didn't much care for and I sort of skim read the last 100 pages. So I'm not sure how to rate it on Good Reads or if I should mark it as "Not Finished" or what... These are the sort of important questions I ask in my life. :OP

Oh yeah and the predicted temperature of 30 degrees C (in winter WTF) did indeed come to pass today, so I'm glad I wore a dress today - and further glad I got my legs waxed on Monday.

Before I head off though...

Friday Five

17/11/23

This week's questions were suggested by sarahtheboring.

1. What is something that you used to believe, but are glad you don't believe anymore? Um...hmmm... I'm not sure actually? I don't think I ever believed in something truly terrible or anything.

>o?2. Is there something you wish you still believed? What? Well, I'm a bit sad that I no longer believe in Santa Claus, because that was rather magical. Although, Chirstmas is still awesome, so it's probably not that terrible.

3. What experience or person taught you the most about life? Hmm...I guess moving away from Dubbo when I was 10, I really, really didn't want to go and I prayed and hoped and wished that we wouldn't have to, but it happened anyway. Which means I learnt the lesson that life won't always turn on the way you hoped it would.

4. What area of life would you like to know or understand more about? Hmm...well, I'd like to know how other people keep their houses tidy, because I seriously suck at it...

5. What is your most valuable lesson about life so far? See answer to question 3.

OK that last answer might have been a cop out, but I'm seriously nodding off, so I shall wrap it up here, especially since I have to actually make my bed because I took the winter sheets off.

10:07pm: Yep, my eyelids are feeling most heavy right now, and I want to be refreshed for work tomorrow!

Since I worked on Saturday, I had a half day today, which was good because it gave me time to get my eyebrows and legs waxed at a nice place in the Mall, then I headed home and went to the gym where I do my weights and worked out - although I skipped my core exercises, tsks at self. On the way home I went to the pharmacy to get my eyepatch, I was going to buy one of those hard ones, but I thought that might be a bit over the top so I got a soft one instead.

I tried it out when I got home and realised a further issue...my vision out of one eye is not very good even with my glasses on, I have no idea if this is common for people or if it's my astigmatism or something. Either way, it rather sucks. Although...I notice I don't seem to have this problem if I hold my left eye closed with my finger. Which is interesting, but decidedly unhelpful, since you need two hands to fire a bow after all. I mean I suppose I could tape it down? But I'd prefer not to have to keep my eye closed for like two and a half hours while I'm in the class. That would suck. So yeah...might need to work on that.

Not much else to report besides that, I feel like I had a busy day, but I guess it's not very exciting to write about, LOL.

I want to do a Friday Five, although this one is Halloween related, so it might be a lot N/A...

Friday Five

20/10/23

1. Will you buy a pumpkin to carve or just leave it uncarved for decoration? We don't really do the pumpkin thing here in Australia. I assume that you use the innards, otherwise what a waste of delicious pumpkin! :OP

2. When was the last time, if ever, you went trick or treating? I've never been tricking or treating, because it wasn't the done thing when I was a kid.

3. Did you or your folks ever buy into that urban legend about razor blades in candy and screen it before you were allowed to eat anything? Nope, although a seriously fucked up individual did poison a bunch of candy as part of a plot to murder his son for life insurance. The son died :O( although no other kids were harmed and the guy was caught. But what a shit, they caught him obviously.

4. What was the ultimate ‘treat’ to get that night? If I did trick or treat well any chocolate bars would be most appreciated!

5. Be honest, did you ever trick anyone because they didn’t come across? Across what? The street? Or to the door or whatever? No, I haven't. Unrelated to Halloween my car got egged once and it was a giant pain in the ass to get said egg off. So yeah, don't throw eggs, it's annoying and shitty and apparently if you don't wipe them off quickly enough it can ruin the paint!

Right OK, it's coming up to a quarter to eleven, which is when I should be asleep, so I'm off! Goodnight!

PS. I'm getting used to the ABC Australian News going back to their old music, but I remain resistant to the new graphics.

11:16pm: It's 11:16 and I need to get my person to bed! Not that I have anything super exciting to report today - thinks for a bit... Yeah I got nothing.

The weather has turned towards Spring, it's supposed to be in the mid-20s and beyond this weekend, which is kind of a worry because I'm pretty sure it's still winter-time, technically. Although I did hear that a cold front might come in mid-next week, so who knows what the climate is doing?

There was some good news today actually! A few days ago a baby humpback whale got stuck in some fishing line, but mid afternoon today the marine rescue people managed to free him from the line and direct him back out of the harbour to the open ocean to continue on his migration. I wonder why he was in the harbour in the first place, maybe taking a break from swimming? Who knows, but I'm glad he made it. The last few times whales have been on the news the outlook has not been so good.

So yeah, happy animal news always brightens the day :O)

But as mentioned it's late and I have to head to work tomorrow, so I better Meme and run!

23/8/24

These questions were written by Dreamwidth user goddess47, who adds: "if you're not in the US, change the dates to your country's last election."

1. If you are old enough, are you registered to vote? I am indeed! I don't remember actually registering, but I must have because my little bro didn't register himself so missed out on voting in some election. By not registering though he didn't get a letter warning that he was going to be fined since voting is compulsory in Aussieland.

2. Did you vote in the November 2023 election 2022 Election? I forget what actual day it was, but yes since as above it's compulsory, although I'd like to think that I would vote even if it wasn't, because that's how you get your voice heard.

3. Do you vote in primaries? Don't have those here, the party decides who will be their leader, which is why, particularly in past years there's been different Prime Ministers here without a vote.

4. Do you plan to vote in the November September 2024 election? This is actually a Council Election, but it's still compulsory, it's also caused more bruhahah than usual because the Liberal Party (note: not actual liberal, they're conservatives in Aus) actually forgot to enroll their 140 of their candidates in various council electorates. So yeah...talk about an own goal there. Although party alignment doesn't matter as much in Council Elections, still are their faces red!

5. Do you vote early, by mail, in person, or some other way? I tend to vote early in person, because they often have a polling booth in the Community space above the library, so I figure what the Hell. However, you can't vote early in Council elections, so I'm gonna need to do that on the day. Which fortunately is a Saturday in Aus because of the whole compulsory ting.

Right better run.

Goodnight!

10:05pm: So usually I spend Wednesday nights at my parents house because my Lite N Easy weekly order comes to their house on Thursday morning. Except...as I made my way over there today - on the bus because my mother had to borrow my car because one of theirs is at the panel beaters after Dad came off second best with a parking lot pillar (which I didn't remember until I went downstairs to get my car and it wasn't there LOL) Mum let me know that no money came out of her account for the order. Damnit, I must have forgotten to press the last "OK" button when I was doing the order on Monday. At least...I'm pretty sure I did it on Monday...now I seriously can't remember...

Anyway, Mum and Dad had already made me dinner so I continued on my way and had that, Mum and I also watched two of our shows before she dropped me back off at my apartment, since she'll need my car for a bit longer, possibly until next Tuesday. I'll have to take it back Saturday evening though so I can drive to Archery on Sunday - and if their car is still being fixed I'll bring it back afterwards.

In other news, my legs have stopped hurting - yay! But my QL muscle and my thumb are still sore, although a lot less than yesterday thankfully! :O) Really need to do something about the QL muscle though...guess I should be doing my core exercises more, which is obvious, but yeeeah.

Oh yeah, we had our (fortnightly) Collections meeting and the Library Manager who's also our supervisor's supervisor was there to talk about the results of this Council survey we do every two years - although I think I might have forgot to put my answers in, LOL. The results were alright, but it also came up is that our Collections team will need to come in early one day every five weeks to do opening - ie start at 8:30 rather than 9. Gotta say I'm not looking forward to this because I struggle to get there at 9am! Which I really have no excuse for...but I often find the earlier I try to get somewhere, the later I am! I do need to work on that though, so...

Anyway, it's past 10:30 and I'm trying to get to bed at a decent hour so I better wrap this up...but I will do a...

Friday Five

27/10/23

1. Which website do you go to more often than any other? Hmm...these days maybe Reddit, or perhaps Wikipedia... or maybe even the Sydney Morning Herald, it's hard to know with apps these days LOL.

2. Which website have you stopped going to, that you used to go to a lot? Definitely LifeJournal which is really sad, that place used to be where all the action was. Damn trends....

3. What is the weirdest or most unusual website you have bookmarked? For some reason I have an online "DollMaker" bookmarked, I think maybe I used it to make the cartoony version of myself in my default icon. Not sure if it even still works though! (PS. It doesn't...I probably need to clear out my bookmarks...)

4. If you shop online, which online store do you buy from most often? eBay because that's the only one where you've got a chance at decent postage! I don't know what happened with the cost of postage from overseas, but it's ridiculous these days.

5. Which online store do you browse but almost never buy from? Pusheen Shop, she's so cute! But alas, the price of postage makes it pretty much unaffordable, which truly sucks.

And now it's closer to quarter to eleven, so time to haul!

10:45pm: When it comes to reading or writing fic, which isn't all that surprising...but seeing as I've had this Terry Pratchett book out for almost two months I figured I better finish that rather than write on the BTTF prompts. Sure am dragging McFly July out though, LOL.

But I finished The Wyrd Sister, which was an enjoyable read indeed, Terry Pratchett has a very amusing way with words XD

I wasn't reading the whole day though, I actually spent most of the day watching James Turner's Cities Skylines Let's Play, I'm onto the last part of the Industries expansion and we're touring his city. It so fun! And somewhat inspired by this I opened up my Hill Valley and got around to putting in Peabody's farm. I'm not quite sure what to make of the huge highways that are between it and the actual Hill Valley...I wonder, maybe the highway turns into a regular road. Hmmm...do highways in the US do that?

Speaking of computer games, I really should do something with my Woodstone Sims, I've kinda left those poor ghosts in limbo, LOL. Although the new season is starting on 17th October, so I'll probably have some great inspiration.

Well, it's coming up to 11pm and although I have a physio appointment tomorrow which isn't until 9:30am I still need to get to bed at a decent hour. I wonder if my left shoulder will still be sore tomorrow, I assume it's from the archery so it might go away, which would be good. I'm somewhat intrigued that it's my left shoulder, since that was the one I held the bow with, not my right which pulled back the arrow. On the other hand, you do push the bow out while you pull the string back, so... I should probably do some exercises to strengthen those muscles up.

Anyway before I head off, I'll do the Friday Five, although I've gone back a few weeks to last Novemeber's ones because the December ones are all Christmas themed.

Friday Five

24/11/23

1. What did you eat on Thursday? Hmm, well I had cheese on toast for breakfast, a Lite n Easy chicken salad wrap for lunch and...I don't think I had anything for dinner. However I did eat a number of snacks throughout the day which was not the best move. Damn you sugar, why are you so tasty! :OP

2. How many miles (kilometers) did you drive on Thursday?

I drove from my parents place back to my house after spending the night, I think it's about 4.5 kms? Don't quote me on that that.

3. How many relatives did you see on Thursday? I saw my parental units in the morning - although the reason for this question was Thanksgiving related, which we don't have in Australia.

4. What did you wear on Thursday? I do Animal Print Thursdays, so I wore my leopard print blouse with a black t-shirt underneath, my black work pants and my old lady comfortable shoes (I no longer suffer toe pain, yay! :OP).

5. Are you planning to buy anything in particular on Friday? Nope...although you never know what might take my fancy, LOL!

Righto, it's past 11:25pm now, so I better be off, I had spaghetti tonight and made lasagna with the leftovers sauce so I need to put the lasagna dish in the fridge before I got to bed.

11:08pm: Oops, I've been watching James Turner Cities Skylines Let's Plays and it's waaay later than I thought! But yes, today was Archery Day!

I actually ended up being early because I thought I need to get there at 8:30am, but actually it was 8:45, I should aim for that next time so I won't be late.

And I'm planning on going again, I've signed up for the four week Beginner's course which starts next Sunday, I'm very much looking forward to it! I had a lot of fun, well except for the time I hit my boob with the bow string...but I got a chest guard so it was all good. Although, by the end I was also hitting my left arm with the bow string, so I might need an arm guard too? Also, as suspected I'm right eye dominant, which wouldn't be an issue except...I can only close my right eye, I can't independently close my left eye only squint, which made it super hard to look through the little sight thing on the bow. I'm considering getting an eye patch or something XD Then again, there's also a school of thought where you should keep both eyes open, so I dunno, I guess I'll ask the coach next Sunday.

Regarding the subject heading...well, I did get two arrows in the yellow zone! But yeeeeah... there were 12 people in total in the class, so we were in three teams of four, needlessly to say our team (I was with a Dad and his two kids) did not do well in the fun competition at the end. Also, there's now a photo of me on Facebook looking decidedly weird. I have no idea why I'm standing the way I am in it... On the plus side I'm wearing sunglasses so you can't really tell it's me :OP There's also a photo of the whole group where I don't look weird so, yay!

After that excitement, I lazed around the rest of the day until it was time to go to church with Mum and Dad... however, every school term the primary school kids do the Saturday evening Mass. Now, the lady who arranges it, is supposed to tell Mum it's happening, but she forgot... so we show up, the parentals have gone to some trouble putting together the Powerpoint for this week's hymns and discover school kids setting up! Dad was most annoyed, because yeah he works hard picking out the hymns! I figured I'd just go to the vigil mass at the other church, but Mum convinced me to come with her and Dad to the church she and I went to on Wednesday night. It did mean I got some marinated chicken legs from her for dinner, yummy!

Funnily enough it turned out that even though it was a completely different church, I still did my PowerPoint duty because there was a late request for someone who could help since there wasn't someone to do it. The other church also had primary school kids doing the singing, but they were quite good (no offence to the ones at my usual church - these kids are a choir so I think they've been practicing a lot).

So yeah, it turned out to be a rather interesting experience, although the set up of the computer in the other church is weird...the computer faces away from the altar so I needed to sit sideways.

I did have to catch the bus home because the parental house is between it and where I live, so they weren't going my way anyway. Fortunately, the bus service is good in that area so I got home in very good time.

Speaking of which...I haven't done my Duolingo and time is getting away from me so I better wrap this up.

Before I go though...

These questions were written by Dreamwidth user spacefem.

1) Who are you appreciating in your life right now? Hmm...well I guess Mum, because she always helps me out and has good advice when I need it :O)

2) What's something you've done this year that other people appreciated? Umm...the Powerpoint at church I guess? The lady at the other church was certainly happy I volunteered to help this evening!

3) What's a good way to show gratitude? With a thank you and (depending on the relationship) a nice hug. :O) Maybe something chocolate related, LOL.

4) Do you write thank you notes? Nope, I will send thank you texts, if that counts ;O)

5) What can you use help with these days? Keeping my apartment clean, I cleaned it with Mum's help before heading off to Fiji at the end of last month and it's messy as Hell now. I really need to do something about it, I swear...

Right oh, for now, goodnight!

11:08pm: Usually going to bed at a decent hour wouldn't be necessary on a Friday, but tomorrow is the "Come and Try Archery" session, and I need to be there at 8:30, so yeah I better get my butt to bed.

I'm a bit worried that the weather might suck though, like what am I supposed to do if it's raining? Apparently, the class will still go ahead, but I'm not sure how I'm supposed to see if that's the case. If take my glasses off I probably won't be able to see the target! Where as if I keep them on...well I won't be able to see all that well either. I guess I need to take a cap just in case (I sure wish one of my Pusheen hats would reappear :O( )

Not much else to report, although I really need to be careful when I'm sitting on the couch on my laptop, my back is a bit sore, which is one I totally don't need. Also, do my exercises to strengthen that area!

Right now, though, my knee hurts, very annoying, I thought maybe that time o' the month was due, but according to my app it's still four days away, so...hopefully not.

So yes, I gotta run but here have a Friday Five

These questions were written by your moderator anais_pf, who has been posting questions in this space consistently for more than ten years, on a completely volunteer basis.

1. Are you easily offended or upset by things other people post online? Depends what it is...I have to say whenever JK Rowling posts stuff I find myself getting pissed, man has she gone off the rails. Also Donald Trump stuff riles me up and when it was happening COVID deniers really gave me the shits.

2. How much does the order in which the Friday Five questions are presented here matter to you? Nah, I'm cool with whatever order the question setter wants to do.

3. Have you ever made an effort to be inclusive, only to have someone complain that you were not being inclusive enough? I don't think so? Wipes brow in relief.

4. Are you having a happy holiday season? Well, it's not the holiday season now, but yes I did! My bro and his family came for their yearly visit and I spent lots of quality time with my niece and nephew. Good times.

5. Which holidays do you observe or celebrate? The Christian ones, mostly - Christmas, Easter and the popular ones New Year's Eve, ANZAC Day, Australia Day etc.

Right, better get going I have to put my anti-itch ointment on and brush my teeth.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow a lot and I'm hoping I'll have good news to report! As it turns out if I do decide to do the 4 week Beginner's Course I won't need to take a Saturday off, because they actually happen on Sundays, LOL.

Anywho, goodnight all!

10:04pm: To the Olympics in Paris! The Paralympics is happening in a couple of weeks though, so that's cool. In other news, Japan pipped us at the post for third place in the Olympics - which isn't an official thing, but you know how it is :OP

Anyway, I'm watching a replay of the Closing Ceremony at the moment, although I'll probably change channel once the parade of Nations end and the Marathon Women get their medals. I have to say the North Korean delegation looked very excited, man, now they have to head back to North Korea! People have pointed out on the internet that North Korean athletes probably have much better circumstances than the average North Korean, but it must suck to be so isolated.

In other news, I finally decided to see my actual GP about the itchiness because it was really kicking my ass (I was doing my best not to scratch, so instead I just had this burning, prickling sensation) and there happened to be at 4:30pm appointment available, although I didn't actually get in to see the Doc until nearly 5pm - but hey he bulk bills so I'm not complaining.

The Doc did recommend taking an anti-histamine, which I'll do and hope it doesn't dry out my eyeballs as well as this cream, which I put on and also told me to keep up the moisturising. Sure hope it works and I don't have scabies or something (apparently if it had started while I was in Fiji that could have been a possiblity!).

But yes, keep your fingers crossed for me, because it's very distracting being itchy, I did at least get another McFly July prompt done, concentrating is hard.

On that note...I shall Meme and run!

1. What are you hoping for in 2024? Once again I'm kinda doing this super late, but whatever... 2024 has been a good time, for the rest of the year I'm hoping to make sure I see my in real life friends more!

2. What was your low point of 2023? Um...hmmm...ponders, well M died :O( She was very unwell though, so I'm not sure if that was a low point exactly...well not for her. Definitely for me though, I miss her and our Canasta games.

3. And your high point of 2023? Well, going on the cruise down to Melbourne for the Australian Open was pretty boss.

4. Do you make New Year’s resolutions or are they just a waste of time? Depends if they motivate you or not, if they don't waste of time I'd say.

5. Do you have any traditions for celebrating New Year’s Eve? Well, for the last couple of years my brother and his family have visited from Japan for the Christmas/New Year period, so on New Year's Eve we go down to the nearby park for the 9:30pm fireworks. If nothing else Sydney knows how to put on a kickass fireworks display, so this is a very enjoyable tradition indeed!

10:36pm: At the Women's Omnium (it's a Track Cycling Sport), coming into the last run of the event one of our Aussie ladies is in second place and then didn't even attempt to win or even place in any sprints and we ended up in 5th. I mean, maybe she was tired - the event involves like 4 80 lap races, but gee you'd think you'd give it a bit of a go rather than just let four people pass you, one of whom was a New Zealander :OP

Haha, I shouldn't be so pressed :OP after all, the Aussie men picked up silver and bronze in the Men's Kieran event that took place just before, so good on them.

Also the woman who finished last had -32 points, not sure how they managed that.

In other news, it's the last day of the Olympics, which is a bit sad, I do enjoy a good Olympics, but all things must end. Plus Australia is (as far as I know) still in 3rd place on the Medal Tally, which is mighty impressive, go us!

In other news, I did get the roast port for lunch at my parents place, although the traffic was strangely terrible, the cars in front of me apparently didn't know the speed limit 1of the road we were on was 60 because they weren't even doing 45. What's up with that? Plus I had to go to tow supermarkets because the first one didn't have any roast pork, weird.

After lunch I helped my mother dispose of some dead plants and put the left over soil into a big pot were so transplanted some...Fragipani I think?

I remain itchy, sigh, although the Sorbolene cream I bought yesterday seems to be helping a bit, I really ought to go to the doctor about this though, it's getting really annoying, plus I keep scratching enough to draw blood sometimes, which I'm sure could have very bad side effects if I get an infection or something.

I also need to remember to try get my fellow library peeps together to do Trivia, which I totally meant to do last week, but then got buried it work I kept forgetting to do so. Shakes head.

Anyway, it's past 11pm now so I better get going...but before I do...

The Friday Five

6/1/24

These questions were dictated over my shoulder by ahunter3 on LJ.

1. In what ways do you expect/hope this year to be better than last year? Well, I've gone so far back in the archives I'm answering this with over half the year over (booo!) but yeah, it's been a good year and I think I expected it, I went on a cruise to the Australian Open in January, so that was a good time!

2. In what ways do you expect/hope this year to be worse than last year?

Well, it is a US election year, which even as an Australian is still a big concern. Seriously, we don't need that shit. Also the weather is a lot more crazy, this winter has been so cold.

3. What year would you travel back to if you could? Hmm, I'm not actually sure TBH...maybe 2000 that was a good year, the Olympics in Sydney! :O)

4. What was your worst year? Hmm, I'm fortunate in that I don't think I've had a really terrible year... maybe when I lost my job that I got through my Grandparents because it took years to eventually get a long-term, secure, full-time job again (like almost 10 years O.o)

5. What was your best year? Hmmm, I dunno actually, I've had many a good year...maybe 2019 because that's when I got the Inter Library Loans Officer job at the library. Yaaay!

On that note, I shall be off!

11:25pm: To lodge an unsuccessful inquiry at the gymnastics? I'm pretty sure it does, but maybe it doesn't at the Olympics or maybe everyone feels more inclined to spend money because they're having them left, right and centre here at the Rhythmic Gymnastics All-Around Final.

In other news, the psychiatrist appointment went well, although I probably shouldn't have followed my Navman's GPS, because I think it lead me astray and ended up being a bit late, booo! Although my doctor was cool about it, I swear I've been scarred for life by one of my old boss's who was SRS BSNS about arriving even five minutes late to work. Although I am chronically late, so I really should do something about that.

Anyway, I was able to tell my doctor about the flying success to Fiji and we discussed the Metro - which I still haven't gone on because of the incident a few months back when the system glitched out and a number of people were stuck in the tunnels for two hours! As the Doc pointed out they've probably put extra precautions in place now so it's probably safe to go on it now.

I also asked him about the itchiness, he agreed with my colleague that it could well be winter related (it has been a particularly cold winter), on the other hand, I was itchy in Fiji too, so I dunno. :O/ In fact I'm itchy right now, it really sucks. I'm trying not to scratch because of the whole scratch-itch cycle, but it's really hard. Still wondering if I should go down to the bulk billing medical centre tomorrow. Or maybe just find some SRS BSNS moisturiser... I think the one I have might be like 10 years old and maybe doesn't work as well as it should.

These rhythmic gymnasts also like throwing their towels down before heading out to compete, which is rather funny, I wonder when that started? Does it really help them perform better or is it just an excuse to make their coach pick it up? Gymnastics coaches are known for being hard asses so I can see they might be tempted.

Anywho, haven't done any writing on fan fic today, I should look at the prompts again and get some ideas...

Before I head off though...

The Friday Five

9/8/24

1. Are you and your birth family close? Indeed I am, for which I am most grateful for :O)

2. How far away do you live from your various family members? My parents and little brother are just a couple suburbs away (the former to the north, the latter to the south), Grandpa lives just up the hill, my Uncle Sam and his family are just a suburb away as well. My big brother and his family live in Japan though!

3. When was the last time you visited with relatives? Well, I was just over at my parents' place on Wednesday, we had steak for dinner, which was most delicious and then Mum and I watched our shows. It was a good time!

4. Do your relatives travel to visit you? Not often aside from my mother, which is a good thing because I'm a messy person and yeah I don't want visitors to judge me :OP

5. How do you stay in touch with family: phone calls, email, snail mail, texts, other? Phone calls, texts and email, mostly the first two since most of my family is local.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot, one of the ways to get to my psychiatrist involves driving past my parents old house, I decided to pop by and take a look and they're doing some serious renovations to the place! Although they've already changed it a lot, it's a duplex of two houses, my parents owned both of them for a few years. They were brick, but now the one we originally lived in has concrete over the brick and a tin roof, although interestingly enough the roof on the other side still has tiles. It's an odd look!

On that note I better head off! Goodnight!

10:45pm: When they said that the Speed Climb was the fastest event at the Olympics. We're talking like under 6 seconds for each round LOL. I was a bit excited when I thought there was an Aussie in it, but it turned out to be a New Zealander and alas he had a slip at the top and lost in the QF. He was up against the guy who currently holds the World and Olympic Record, so not a bad go.

Rhythmic Gymnastics has also started! There is an Aussie in that, but I don't think she'll make it into the final, still they do have a preliminary round we they show off all their skills, so that's cool.

Hey there's an Iranian in the Speed Climbing, and an Indonesian, that's pretty cool!

What's not cool? This bloody itchiness!! Although I'm judging myself because I haven't made an appointment with my doctor yet...I guess I should do that now. I am seeing my psychiatrist tomorrow, but I don't think he'll be able to help out unless whatever's triggering it is psychosomatic.

OK, well boo, no appointments with my Doc until Monday...and then only in the middle of the afternoon and he's all booked up on the Tuesday... So yeah...maybe I should go to the other medical centre just so see if I can get some relief until I can get in to see my Doc.

In the mean time, I guess I'll just put cream on there, but still boo.

But hey the second round of the Rhythmic Gymnastics is back on, ball and ribbon this time, I still have no idea how they throw that ribbon around with getting it tied in knots, but he I guess that's practice!

But I should probably make sure I get to bed at a proper hour, the psychiatrist appointment as at 11am, but last time I went I was kind of rushed and ended up having a panic attack of sorts. Which suuuuucked.

So yeah wish me luck with that!

Transportation

These questions were written by roosto on LJ.

1. What is your current main mode of transportation? e.g. car, bike, subway, walking, etc. Le Bus, which I take to get to work, although a work colleague drives past my house on her way home so I get a lift home with her.

2. Are you satisfied with your current main mode of transportation (answer to question 1)? Why?

I am, because I don't live very far from where I work and because I go in peak hour, if I took my car it would take twice as long because I wouldn't be able to go in the bus lane and I'd also have to find a parking spot.

3. Do you think you'll change your means of transit soon? e.g. buy a car, get rid of your car, walk more etc.? If so, why? Nah, see above. Although during COVID lockdowns I did drive my car to work, but then there wasn't much traffic on the roads at that time, and parking at the Mall was free.

4. If time, distance and money were not factors, how do you prefer to get from point A to point B? I feel like I should do more walking and I do indeed enjoy taking a stroll, so I'd do that.

5. What was your worst transit experience? About 10 years ago, I had a serious panic attack on a train, it was so bad I was running through the carriage desperate to escape. People noticed I was freaking out and thankfully, came to help me, but I scratched my sternum area up something awful and following that I had trouble getting on trains for some time. I've been doing exposure therapy to get back on trains though and it's been going well.

Right and now I bid you all goodnight!

11:15pm: At the 10m Platform!

Although one of the Chinese divers did just get perfect 10s for a seriously stunning dive. But one of Aussie's just did a really nice one with very little splash and only got 6.0s for her trouble? So, search me? Maybe they didn't like how she got into her handstand.

Mexico's doing pretty well at the diving program, so that's pretty cool, then 3m Synchronised Men's team gave the Chinese pair a scare, LOL.

They've also got some stats, apparently some of the divers hit the water at more than 50km an hour, dang no wonder they wear those wrist guards.

In other news, I remain woefully behind on my McFly July 2024 prompts, but work is kind of kicking my ass at the moment and by the time I settle down to get into it it's late! At this rate I'll be finishing on 15th August, which is the day BTTF I was released in Australia so that's apt :OP

Watching the diving reminds me of how I was too scared to jump off the 1m at the pool, so I have no idea how 10m divers get the nerve! I guess they're not afraid of heights for one thing, LOL.

Anywho, I regret that I won't be able to watch the whole competition because it doesn't end until like 1:30am, dang time zones :OP

Speaking of, I better wrap up this entry and do my Duolingo, I'm past 1500 days now!

Before I go though...

Now You're Cooking

These questions were written by Dreamwidth user 0152062874.

1. Do you cook regularly or does someone else cook for you? I live by myself, so in general if I don't cook, no-one does. Although I do get Lite n Easy on a weekly basis, only for lunches, but that cut downs on the need for cooking.

2. Which are you better at making: sweet or savory foods? I do love my cupcakes, so I'm gonna say...sweet foods.

3. If you had to work as a chef in a restaurant of your choice, which restaurant would best complement your current culinary skills? Haha, oh man, that would be a pretty desperate restaurant! I guess I'll have to go with a diner, nothing too fancy you know.

4. What is a cooking tip that you know, but other people generally aren’t aware of? Ummm, I got nothing...I recently learned that baking soda goes off and loses it's rising ability, so if you didn't know that there's a tip.

5. Do you have a recipe you would like to share? I would, but it'd take too long to type out and I'm too lazy so... No :OP

Right, off I go! I've also got a load of laundry on, which will hopefully finish really soon so I get my butt to bed.

Goodnight!

10:16pm: I think I'm bad luck for gymnasts...I'm watching the apparatus finals and gymnasts are falling left, right and centre! Simone Biles didn't even get a medal on the Balance Beam! Zhang the favourite on the High Bar did a solid routine and then fell flat on his face on the dismount! Women's Floor is next, but I should probably go to bed because I've been staying up way too late these past few nights, plus you know being a jinx!

Strangely enough, Simone Biles got docked .3 points for not bowing to the judges which was part of why she lost out on a medal, which is hella weird and reminds me of that movie Stick It (I think it's called), I mean it's not like she gave them the finger she just didn't do the whole arms in the air thing. Harsh.

As a palate cleanser, so to speak here's Alexei Nemov being epic 20 years ago on the High Bar. We'll just ignore that he didn't even get a medal for this awesomeness :OP (I totally booed for 10 minutes from home along with the crowd).

The Men's High Bar has finished and there's a tie for bronze! And Zhang from China got one of them, so good for him, although the other bronze medallist is from Taiwan, which feels a bit a awkward, wonder how that's gonna go in their two respective countries!

Also a kid from Colombia got silver, so that's cool too.

But yeah, I should get to bed because once again I've neglected to write any McFly July prompts primarily because I had a raging headache when I got home from work. Fortunately the ibuprofen helped it out, but that's like the second evening in a row. Concerning!

Before I go, it was back to work today and alas I was a bit late as usual, and it proved to be a busy day for me indeed, now that the deliveries of new books have started up again I have to match the packing slips to the invoices and that can take a very long time indeed! Plus the Inter Library Loans and there was also a Zoom Meeting of NSW Inter Library Loans people too.

So yeah, better wrap this up, I have to get my masks out of the washing machine and hang them up so they're dry for tomorrow.

Also the Friday Five...apparently they're looking for help, because at the moment only two people are doing the questions. I wonder if I should put my hand up, but I dunno. It seems others have put their hands up so that's cool.

I can't remember now where I was up to with it!

I think it's was...

In Celebration of President's Day

1. Have you ever been the president of anything? Hahahaha, oh Hell no!

2. What do you think is the most important leadership trait? Humility and a willingness to listen to others, especially if they know better or may have expertise you lack.

3. What time period did you find the most interesting to learn about in history class? Ooo, that's a toughie...I enjoy studying history in general! I do enjoy finding out about the Georgian period and also the Victorian period.

4. What's something you think about doing, but you haven't gotten back into in several years? Well, I'm back into writing these days, which I'm most relieved about because there was a period when I didn't write at all and it was not cool.

5. If you could add one more random holiday to February, what would it be? Um, BBQ Day, because that how we roll here in Australia. :OP

Some of those questions look familiar, but others' don't so yeah, apologies if I have done that one.

Right so the Floor Final is on, the women seem to be doing all right so far... apparently this has been an unusually long Gymnastics comp - they had a break in the middle for the Trampoline competition, so maybe that explains the falling rather than me. :OP

On that note though, I gotta run!

Goodnight all!
