11:17pm: My itchiness, because right now Mum and I are discussing my home loans - in view of how to pay for the holiday to Japan next year and I'm very itchy indeed. I need to put my cream on...

Once again I've left this entry way too late and therefore I have no time to update :O( which is a shame because several things have happened today!

However, it is important to get the Japan trip locked in so I shouldn't complain, especially since I've managed to put the cream on.

But time is swiftly getting away and I wanted to go to bed earlier today but that looks like it'll be a nope.

So we're about to wrap things up with Mum, so I better be off.

No time to even do the Sim Thing! Ah well, that's life...

Goodnight for now!
anonymoose_au: (Pinkie Pie Bounce!)
10:04pm: To the Olympics in Paris! The Paralympics is happening in a couple of weeks though, so that's cool. In other news, Japan pipped us at the post for third place in the Olympics - which isn't an official thing, but you know how it is :OP

Anyway, I'm watching a replay of the Closing Ceremony at the moment, although I'll probably change channel once the parade of Nations end and the Marathon Women get their medals. I have to say the North Korean delegation looked very excited, man, now they have to head back to North Korea! People have pointed out on the internet that North Korean athletes probably have much better circumstances than the average North Korean, but it must suck to be so isolated.

In other news, I finally decided to see my actual GP about the itchiness because it was really kicking my ass (I was doing my best not to scratch, so instead I just had this burning, prickling sensation) and there happened to be at 4:30pm appointment available, although I didn't actually get in to see the Doc until nearly 5pm - but hey he bulk bills so I'm not complaining.

The Doc did recommend taking an anti-histamine, which I'll do and hope it doesn't dry out my eyeballs as well as this cream, which I put on and also told me to keep up the moisturising. Sure hope it works and I don't have scabies or something (apparently if it had started while I was in Fiji that could have been a possiblity!).

But yes, keep your fingers crossed for me, because it's very distracting being itchy, I did at least get another McFly July prompt done, concentrating is hard.

On that note...I shall Meme and run!

The Friday Five

29/12/23

1. What are you hoping for in 2024? Once again I'm kinda doing this super late, but whatever... 2024 has been a good time, for the rest of the year I'm hoping to make sure I see my in real life friends more!

2. What was your low point of 2023? Um...hmmm...ponders, well M died :O( She was very unwell though, so I'm not sure if that was a low point exactly...well not for her. Definitely for me though, I miss her and our Canasta games.

3. And your high point of 2023? Well, going on the cruise down to Melbourne for the Australian Open was pretty boss.

4. Do you make New Year’s resolutions or are they just a waste of time? Depends if they motivate you or not, if they don't waste of time I'd say.

5. Do you have any traditions for celebrating New Year’s Eve? Well, for the last couple of years my brother and his family have visited from Japan for the Christmas/New Year period, so on New Year's Eve we go down to the nearby park for the 9:30pm fireworks. If nothing else Sydney knows how to put on a kickass fireworks display, so this is a very enjoyable tradition indeed!

Goodnight!

10:36pm: At the Women's Omnium (it's a Track Cycling Sport), coming into the last run of the event one of our Aussie ladies is in second place and then didn't even attempt to win or even place in any sprints and we ended up in 5th. I mean, maybe she was tired - the event involves like 4 80 lap races, but gee you'd think you'd give it a bit of a go rather than just let four people pass you, one of whom was a New Zealander :OP

Haha, I shouldn't be so pressed :OP after all, the Aussie men picked up silver and bronze in the Men's Kieran event that took place just before, so good on them.

Also the woman who finished last had -32 points, not sure how they managed that.

In other news, it's the last day of the Olympics, which is a bit sad, I do enjoy a good Olympics, but all things must end. Plus Australia is (as far as I know) still in 3rd place on the Medal Tally, which is mighty impressive, go us!

In other news, I did get the roast port for lunch at my parents place, although the traffic was strangely terrible, the cars in front of me apparently didn't know the speed limit 1of the road we were on was 60 because they weren't even doing 45. What's up with that? Plus I had to go to tow supermarkets because the first one didn't have any roast pork, weird.

After lunch I helped my mother dispose of some dead plants and put the left over soil into a big pot were so transplanted some...Fragipani I think?

I remain itchy, sigh, although the Sorbolene cream I bought yesterday seems to be helping a bit, I really ought to go to the doctor about this though, it's getting really annoying, plus I keep scratching enough to draw blood sometimes, which I'm sure could have very bad side effects if I get an infection or something.

I also need to remember to try get my fellow library peeps together to do Trivia, which I totally meant to do last week, but then got buried it work I kept forgetting to do so. Shakes head.

Anyway, it's past 11pm now so I better get going...but before I do...

The Friday Five

6/1/24

These questions were dictated over my shoulder by ahunter3 on LJ.

1. In what ways do you expect/hope this year to be better than last year? Well, I've gone so far back in the archives I'm answering this with over half the year over (booo!) but yeah, it's been a good year and I think I expected it, I went on a cruise to the Australian Open in January, so that was a good time!

2. In what ways do you expect/hope this year to be worse than last year?

Well, it is a US election year, which even as an Australian is still a big concern. Seriously, we don't need that shit. Also the weather is a lot more crazy, this winter has been so cold.

3. What year would you travel back to if you could? Hmm, I'm not actually sure TBH...maybe 2000 that was a good year, the Olympics in Sydney! :O)

4. What was your worst year? Hmm, I'm fortunate in that I don't think I've had a really terrible year... maybe when I lost my job that I got through my Grandparents because it took years to eventually get a long-term, secure, full-time job again (like almost 10 years O.o)

5. What was your best year? Hmmm, I dunno actually, I've had many a good year...maybe 2019 because that's when I got the Inter Library Loans Officer job at the library. Yaaay!

On that note, I shall be off!

11:25pm: To lodge an unsuccessful inquiry at the gymnastics? I'm pretty sure it does, but maybe it doesn't at the Olympics or maybe everyone feels more inclined to spend money because they're having them left, right and centre here at the Rhythmic Gymnastics All-Around Final.

In other news, the psychiatrist appointment went well, although I probably shouldn't have followed my Navman's GPS, because I think it lead me astray and ended up being a bit late, booo! Although my doctor was cool about it, I swear I've been scarred for life by one of my old boss's who was SRS BSNS about arriving even five minutes late to work. Although I am chronically late, so I really should do something about that.

Anyway, I was able to tell my doctor about the flying success to Fiji and we discussed the Metro - which I still haven't gone on because of the incident a few months back when the system glitched out and a number of people were stuck in the tunnels for two hours! As the Doc pointed out they've probably put extra precautions in place now so it's probably safe to go on it now.

I also asked him about the itchiness, he agreed with my colleague that it could well be winter related (it has been a particularly cold winter), on the other hand, I was itchy in Fiji too, so I dunno. :O/ In fact I'm itchy right now, it really sucks. I'm trying not to scratch because of the whole scratch-itch cycle, but it's really hard. Still wondering if I should go down to the bulk billing medical centre tomorrow. Or maybe just find some SRS BSNS moisturiser... I think the one I have might be like 10 years old and maybe doesn't work as well as it should.

These rhythmic gymnasts also like throwing their towels down before heading out to compete, which is rather funny, I wonder when that started? Does it really help them perform better or is it just an excuse to make their coach pick it up? Gymnastics coaches are known for being hard asses so I can see they might be tempted.

Anywho, haven't done any writing on fan fic today, I should look at the prompts again and get some ideas...

Before I head off though...

The Friday Five

9/8/24

1. Are you and your birth family close? Indeed I am, for which I am most grateful for :O)

2. How far away do you live from your various family members? My parents and little brother are just a couple suburbs away (the former to the north, the latter to the south), Grandpa lives just up the hill, my Uncle Sam and his family are just a suburb away as well. My big brother and his family live in Japan though!

3. When was the last time you visited with relatives? Well, I was just over at my parents' place on Wednesday, we had steak for dinner, which was most delicious and then Mum and I watched our shows. It was a good time!

4. Do your relatives travel to visit you? Not often aside from my mother, which is a good thing because I'm a messy person and yeah I don't want visitors to judge me :OP

5. How do you stay in touch with family: phone calls, email, snail mail, texts, other? Phone calls, texts and email, mostly the first two since most of my family is local.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot, one of the ways to get to my psychiatrist involves driving past my parents old house, I decided to pop by and take a look and they're doing some serious renovations to the place! Although they've already changed it a lot, it's a duplex of two houses, my parents owned both of them for a few years. They were brick, but now the one we originally lived in has concrete over the brick and a tin roof, although interestingly enough the roof on the other side still has tiles. It's an odd look!

On that note I better head off! Goodnight!

10:45pm: When they said that the Speed Climb was the fastest event at the Olympics. We're talking like under 6 seconds for each round LOL. I was a bit excited when I thought there was an Aussie in it, but it turned out to be a New Zealander and alas he had a slip at the top and lost in the QF. He was up against the guy who currently holds the World and Olympic Record, so not a bad go.

Rhythmic Gymnastics has also started! There is an Aussie in that, but I don't think she'll make it into the final, still they do have a preliminary round we they show off all their skills, so that's cool.

Hey there's an Iranian in the Speed Climbing, and an Indonesian, that's pretty cool!

What's not cool? This bloody itchiness!! Although I'm judging myself because I haven't made an appointment with my doctor yet...I guess I should do that now. I am seeing my psychiatrist tomorrow, but I don't think he'll be able to help out unless whatever's triggering it is psychosomatic.

OK, well boo, no appointments with my Doc until Monday...and then only in the middle of the afternoon and he's all booked up on the Tuesday... So yeah...maybe I should go to the other medical centre just so see if I can get some relief until I can get in to see my Doc.

In the mean time, I guess I'll just put cream on there, but still boo.

But hey the second round of the Rhythmic Gymnastics is back on, ball and ribbon this time, I still have no idea how they throw that ribbon around with getting it tied in knots, but he I guess that's practice!

But I should probably make sure I get to bed at a proper hour, the psychiatrist appointment as at 11am, but last time I went I was kind of rushed and ended up having a panic attack of sorts. Which suuuuucked.

So yeah wish me luck with that!

Transportation

These questions were written by roosto on LJ.

1. What is your current main mode of transportation? e.g. car, bike, subway, walking, etc. Le Bus, which I take to get to work, although a work colleague drives past my house on her way home so I get a lift home with her.

2. Are you satisfied with your current main mode of transportation (answer to question 1)? Why?

I am, because I don't live very far from where I work and because I go in peak hour, if I took my car it would take twice as long because I wouldn't be able to go in the bus lane and I'd also have to find a parking spot.

3. Do you think you'll change your means of transit soon? e.g. buy a car, get rid of your car, walk more etc.? If so, why? Nah, see above. Although during COVID lockdowns I did drive my car to work, but then there wasn't much traffic on the roads at that time, and parking at the Mall was free.

4. If time, distance and money were not factors, how do you prefer to get from point A to point B? I feel like I should do more walking and I do indeed enjoy taking a stroll, so I'd do that.

5. What was your worst transit experience? About 10 years ago, I had a serious panic attack on a train, it was so bad I was running through the carriage desperate to escape. People noticed I was freaking out and thankfully, came to help me, but I scratched my sternum area up something awful and following that I had trouble getting on trains for some time. I've been doing exposure therapy to get back on trains though and it's been going well.

Right and now I bid you all goodnight!

11:08pm: Yes, in contrast to the women's event, which had mostly teenagers, the men's event seems to be full of old folk, including a guy who's 51 years old! Talk about a contrast.

In other Olympic news there's also the Dinghy Final, where guys in tiny boats are trying to get around a course that looks quite confusing. The guy from Hungary just tipped over his whole boat and had to get it upright again, which he managed to do. It's rather exciting because we're in a gold medal position! We just have to finish far enough ahead of the dude from Cyprus. Although as I said it's kinda hard to tell who's in what place when the TV isn't showing it LOL.

Wait, they've just abandoned the race...there's not enough wind D: Well that sucks, although it also answers my question of what happens when there's no wind. How annoying though! We were about to pick up the gold medal. Dang.

Anyway...apart from that not much to report except I need to get my butt to bed since it's coming up on 11:30pm and I've been staying up far too late, last night for example I did stay up to watch the diving, fortunately, it didn't end at 1:30am (or maybe it did with the medal ceremony), but still.

The itchiness continues...a colleague suggested that it might be the winter weather, but I was also itchy in Fiji, so I'm not sure about that. And I've neglected to make an appointment with my doctor about it, I guess I should do that now.

On a final note, the Archery Club got back to me, they're having the next "Come and Try" session on Saturday 17th August, so I plan to attend that.

On that note I shall be off, goodnight all!

11:15pm: So the archery has started at the Olympics, during Tokyo for some strange reason I really got into watching the archery. I think I realised the reason why today, it's one of the only sports where glasses wearers can wear their glasses while competing! A lot of athletes actually do wear glasses, but obviously not while engaged in their sport. I for one feel solidarity with my glasses wearing brethren.

In other news, the Men's Apparatus Finals at the gymnastics, although at the moment there's also the Men's Road Race, and one of the commentators is Phil Liggett - whoo! :OD So I'm kind of flipping between the stream and the Road Race on TV (it's available on a stream as well, but last time I went on there were different commentators, but maybe Phil was just taking a break).

I'm also reminded that I need to make that Doctor's appointment regarding the itching issue, it hit with avenagce this evening and that really sucked. I'm a bit concerned it might have something to do with sausage rolls, because I ate one tonight and the itchiness happened shortly after. I'm pretty sure that was just a co-incidence though.

Anyway, I'll have to make this a short entry because I need to do my Duolingo before midnight, but I finally realised what was wrong with my cupcakes. Well, there were two issues, first of all, I didn't beat the butter and caster sugar properly and secondly...call me a dummy, but I totally didn't realise that baking soda went out of date. The baking soda I had was out of date by about 13 years... Yeah major fail.

So I made a new batch and even broke out my cupcake maker, which turned out to be a good plan because for some reason the ones I put in the oven didn't rise. Very odd.

The only downside, I didn't realise about the baking soda until I already put the old stuff in...I did put the newly purchased stuff in as well - and as said it worked a treat, but I'm a bit concerned because to my palate the cupcakes have an oddly salty aftertaste, although Mum and the people at the retirement village said they tasted delicious, so it could just be me. There's about 11 of them left over (because there were quite a number of cakes at the event), so I'll be taking them into work, so fingers crossed it really is just me.

I also still have the flat as a pancake ones left over, although I used up all the frosting, so I'm considering making another batch of frosting for them. Or I might have to throw them out.

Right, it's past 11:30pm now so if I'm gonna get my Duolingo done I better haul!

11:13pm: Yes! I don't understand what's up with it...it's quite unpleasant and also a bit alarming. Because I have no idea what causes it? I don't think it's the clothes I'm wearing because I'm not always itchy whenever I wear a particular top. I thought maybe it could be something I ate, but I don't think that's how allergies work... Maybe it's stress or nerves? After all, Mum, her friend and I are off to Fiji on Monday, I hope not, because I get stressed a lot! :Oo

In other news, the Olympics has officially begun! Very exciting, although because it's in Europe the time zones are just awful. The gymnastics has literally just started and it's nearly 11:30pm. I'm not sure how long I'll be able to watch it. Although, at least streaming means you can watch sports that Aussie TV doesn't show, the gymnastics stream is struggling though :O( If it doesn't pick up I might go to the live channel because it's showing cycling and the blessed tones of Phil Liggett aka "the voice of cycling"

Wow whoever the captain of Team China is at the gymnastics he's got a seriously cool jacket. And they've just announced a Frenchman and the crowd almost took the roof off, fun!

The stream is still struggling a bit, so we shall see. I'm not sure if I should try an watch it live anyway because even thought we're not heading to the airport hotel until the afternoon tomorrow I need to return some books to the library, so I should stay up too late.

Speaking of struggling...I still can't get onto LJ, which is a bit of a worry especially since those "Is it down" websites seem to indicate it isn't down. But one is saying that users in Australia aren't able to get on so maybe it's a local thing? Gee, I hope our Government hasn't decided to block it because it's owned by a Russian company. :O(

Oh, I just found that the stream I was watching was specifically for the Rings but now I'm on the general one and it's working fine. A lad from China has just started off the whole thing... at least I think so, more than one apparatus is used at a time, so it's hard to keep up LOL.

Although I've just realised the Friday Five is also available on DW, soooo

The Friday Five

19/7/24

1) What's your favorite Olympics event? Ooo slightly tough, but if we're talking Summer Olympics, I guess I'll have to go with Gymnastics, so much to watch! How do they even learn this stuff?!

2) What do you think of when you think of Paris? The Eiffel Tower, what else :O)

3) What's something that's not an Olympic sport, but if it were you might be a contender? Ummm, is sitting on my butt an option? Because honestly I think that's the only one I could have any chance in XD

4) Which of the newer Olympic events are you interested in watching? (breakdancing, surfing, 3x3 basketball, skateboarding, men's artistic swimming?) I'm intrigued by men's artistic swimming! I didn't realise that was a thing, I'll keep an eye out for it!

5) What are your top 3 countries to cheer for?

Australia (obviously :OP)
Uzebekistan (the one with the "U")
Italy? (I'm not actually sure to be honest, LOL) I kinda cheer for all the rest equally, LOL.

There's actually a Friday 5 from yesterday, but it's 10 minutes to midnight, so I better wrap this up and find something to put on my itchiness.

11:26pm: It's the second last day of Le Tour, and apparently they'll be doing a time trail for the last day which is weird choice, but then again because of the Olympics its not ending in Paris like it always does maybe they want to do something different. That's not very interesting, I like to see all the cyclists in a group! I guess on the plus side it might be a team time trial so at least they'll have more than one guy on the road at a time. Oh wait no, the commentators have just said it's an individual one, except they've already had one of those? Maybe they've changed the rules.

That reminds me, the Olympics also starts this week, on Wednesday - which seems to be another weird choice, don't the Olympics usually start on a Saturday? Or a Friday? Guess it's still summer holidays over there in France.

In other news, I'm itchy, which is weird because there's no bugs in my house and it's the middle of winter so no mosquitoes. I hope I'm not allergic to my laundry powder since I am wearing PJs I washed - although that was like 5 days ago - because that would suuuuck.

Apart from that not much else to report I was going to play some Cities Skylines, but it wouldn't load up. Very odd - it worked a couple of days ago and I haven't uploaded anything since then.

Speaking of computers, all the Aldi self-checkouts were working today, but not all the Coles ones, interesting! Still lucky for me it happened this weekend because next Sunday Mum, her friend and me are off to Fiji.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention why this entry has the title it does, well the cyclist wearing Polka Dot Jersey (aka "King of the Mountains") yesterday was really phoning it in, he had the jersey, but no polka dots on the helmet or on his bike, very poor effort. The guy wearing it today has at least got the polka dot helmet, although the rider who held it last week knew how to do it right, he had polka dots on his cycling socks and the bike itself! Now that's dedication. ;O)

Right, I better go put some anti-itch cream on my arms...before I head off though

The Friday Five

8/03/24

1. What's a skill you'd like to learn? I've always wanted to play an instrument of some kind, like maybe the violin. I guess I could try to learn, but I suck at follow-through LOL.

2. What's a hobby you'd like to try? Hmm, I'd like to get back into painting Bob Ross style! Or maybe jigsaw puzzles again. I feel like that would help my creativity rather than getting on the net and scrolling so much.

3. What's the best compliment you've ever received? Hmm...gee I dunno...although at my Performance Review this week my supervisor said that I'm really pleasant to work with and am an asset to the Collections Team. :O)

4. What's one way in which you are awesome? Well I do have a 1000+ day streak on Duolingo XD in all seriousness though, I think I'm a pretty good writer, even if I don't do it as often as I like.

5. What's a gift you would like to receive (in case anyone asks)? Hmm...I'm a big fan of getting presents, but be damned if I can't think of anything in particular right now.

11:30pm: For the ice skating show next Thursday, which I'm very much looking forward to!

Today has been an action packed day though, not only did I go to the psychiatrist and then to the Macquarie Shopping Centre, I also went to a skate shop in a suburb some distance away because as it happened I took the car, since I hurried down the driveway of the house just as the E78 drove by.

I'm glad I went to the skate shop because my poor skates needed sharpening like whoa, I went to the lunch time session, which was probably a bad idea because the place was packed. Crowded or not that was not the reason I had such trouble skating, my poor blades were dull which made it difficult to glide.

Going to the skating shop had another benefit, I got skate guards! They were $19 and no prizes for guessing what what colour I picked! ;O) And to think the online shop said green wasn't available. Rude. I had a bit of difficulty getting them to fit because at one point while putting those springs on I ended up putting one the wrong way around and it required a lot of pulling to twist it back around in the right direction. Then I discovered that I needed to cut one side because they were a little too big for my blades, so I battled with a knife for a while then went down to the main house to ask if they had scateurs, they did and they did the job easily.

So yay, now I can put my skates on in the foyer of the ice rink and keep the blades nicely protected when I'm not using them. Yay! :O)

But it did require a lot of driving, I'm sure my parents would be proud of me. Although I did get a bit of a surprise when I noticed this warning light for the tyre kept coming on, considering what happened last week when I took a corner too sharply I thought it must have slowly gone flat. So I went to the petrol station where I found nope all the tyres were fine. I checked the manual and it turns out the warning light was just to say that the puncture warning system isn't working. Whoops. I guess that'll need to be fixed next service.

And my nose is itchy...again, maybe I should buy that Horseradish and Garlic stuff my mother swears by, because it's irritating as Hell. Just as long as I'm not getting a cold though, knock on wood!

I shall leave the Memes 'til tomorrow because I need to be up at a decent hour tomorrow morning because I'm going to the grandparentals, shall I succeed in Canasta against M? Tune in tomorrow and find out! :O)

11:35pm: Indeed I did, but it was a busy day what the with a quick trip to the grandparents' to hang out their washing (Grandpa was at the doctors and M can't bend over to get the clothes out of the basket) before heading to the library where I found that the Inter-Library Loans Officer wasn't there because she developed appendictis over the weekend and had to go to the hospital! :Oo So I did my best to help clear up some of the backlog and when I go back tomorrow I hope to do the picks for books that have been requested. Because if we don't get to them they get automatically cancelled and it's a pain in the ass all around.

After that I went to my appointment in Chatswood, where I got the number of the form the pyschiatrist needs to fill out, I'll have to call tomorrow about that. Although...I probably should be looking at jobs in the Aged Care sector even though I am wary, since I was reminded by a sign on the wall that one is meant to take a suitable job not just a job you really want. Do'h.

And now there's a program about the KKK on Crime & Investigation Network, ewww, racist assholes. Some dude's like "We don't hate black people" oh sure, you just don't want them anywhere near you or in the country. Bull shit.

I also went to the Aged Care Facility with my Police Check certificate, so I'm all set up for that.

And the weather was quite decent today, no rain or biting winds, but i think there's some sort of spring pollen in the air because my nose has been itching like Hell all day.

3x Thursday

Annoyed

Name 3 things that really annoy you, and how it might be rectified.

1. Itchiness! A good anti-itchong cream would help I imagine.
2. The slow internet in my parents house! I don't know...new phoneline or something?
3. ????

And the cream hasn't worked...gotta find the other stuff.

I'll be off now.

Goodnight!

I've also been bitten by something, now I've got welts on my person, seriously, WTF? Very annoying.

In other news, going through my Friends List I found a nifty little Merlin related paperart!

11:10pm: Well, those lasagne sheets I bought sucked ass. Didn't help I didn't have enough cheese slices for the top, the whole thing ended up looking pretty shitty. I'm hoping to redo the top part now that I've got more cheese, we'll have to see what happens there though.

Hmmm...not much else to report due to the lack of Memes now a days, shameful, shameful.

Except insects seem to have attacked my person today, I've got itchy bites all over the place. Very annoying.

In other news, I made cupcakes, although I think I put too much mixture in the cupcake pans and it when the mix rose it got all over the the place. They taste good though, so hey that's the important thing.

having made all this sugary stuff, I'm now watching a program about the world's fattest woman, who is no longer so fat since she had surgery, but there was all sorts of complications and so on. She seems better now.

Speaking of the severely overweight - look at this poor kid, sounds like he's got that problem where you can't tell when you're full. Seriously, look at him! o.O I hope they can do something for him.

Anywho, it's getting on in time so I better be off.

10:31pm: So the assignment is due by midnight and I've decided to send it off...I hope I don't regret it! I'm a bit worried that I'm under the word count when so many other people were going on about having too many words. Maybe I'll just prove to be eloquent and properly brief, LOL.

In other news, I got a phone call from the Diocese Office man today - no bingo...they said I interviewed well, but I still didn't get it! Argh damn! I can only hope that the one I did today will come through, or a future interview.

And damn I'm still itchy, I did skip the anti-histamine so that might be the problem, I'll have to take one tomorrow and see what happens.

And as for memes, well the Monday Movie Meme is about prison movies and I've hardly seen any of those, except for Shawshank Redemption which apparently you're not allowed to mention - and it's not like I've seen it all the way through anyway.

5. Go to Malta

What are you saying goodbye to?

9:39pm: Yeah...this often happens to me, but argh so annoying. On the plus side I'm over a thousand words now. It's due at midnight tomorrow though and I'm sure it'll sneak up on me! Can't have what happened last time, like I said if I fail a subject that's $800 down the can.

In other news, the left arm and elbows continue to piss the Hell out of me. They are at least starting to clear up. Maybe I should put the bactroban cream on, not sure though. Further to that, I don't know about the anti-histamines I'm taking, it says 'May cause drowsiness' now I'm back at the parents place I think I've got non-drowsy formula here so maybe I'll try that out. Because I'm sleepy, and I got my 8 hours, so what's that all about.

Moving along, the election result is still pending, this is unusual! It means there's been a hung parliament and the major party that can get the most Independants onside gets to be the ruling party. I hope it's not the Liberal/Conservatives, otherwise, talk about embarrassment. Plus we only just got rid of them last election, they were in power for 11 years and making us look like a bunch of backward hicks every step of the way.

Anyway, not much else to report, so Memes!

7:14pm: Any of the free-to-air channels because the election is on and it's full of that. But a cursory glance at Yahoo 7 indicates the Liberals(Conservatives) are in the lead...ugh...don't screw me over Australia.

I'm in a bad mood because firstly I woke up early in case I got a call from the election people to work at the polling booth and secondly the itchiness had only got worse. So I finally went to a pharmacy to get some antihistamine tablets, which worked last time, but no cream (since that didn't work much at all last time). But less than two hours ago I had to go back out for cream because the itchiness continues to annoy! Especially two nasty welts on my on my elbows, I can't even rest my arms on the table.

Here's a little picture of what's pissing me the Hell off:

Sooo itchy!

In other news, I was going to do some work on the assignment, but it's hard enough to concentrate on it at the best of time, let alone when I feel like scratching my elbows off.

Oh wait, I've just refreshed Yahoo 7 and the Labour Party's caught up, come on, you can do it! And if the Green's get the balance of power in the Senate so much the better!

And now Memes:

Saturday 9

:Welcome Back:

1. Where were you the last time that someone welcomed you back? Um...dunno...when I went into the library for my volunteer work they said hello to me since the last week I was there. But that probably doesn't count, but I can't remember any other time that sticks out.

2. Tell us who is you favorite non-family member to hang out with? Oh, I can't choose between my friends! :OP I love hangin out with them all!

3. What was the last thing that happened to anger you? Well, that whole thing about Obama's religion ticked me off, I mean who cares? Although seeing at I'm not American it didn't make me angry perse. The idea of Tony Abbott being our Prime Minister, that makes me mad!

4. What was the last thing that you saw that was shocking to see? That the Liberals were ahead by more than 10 seats! But I guess they must have counted conservative areas first because the Labour Party's caught up!

5. What is your favorite thing to do on Saturday besides Saturday 9? Just hang out and enjoy the net, writing stuff, etc.

6. Have you had your summer vacation yet? If yes tell us about it. Well, the end of summer was at the beginning of the year and they'll be more summer towards the end of this year, but I didn't really have a holiday, I can' afford to go anywhere!

7. Pick out one of your cousins and tell us about them. My cousin Al is hilarious! He's around my age and a few years ago he had this total Greg Brady hairdo, it was the weirdest thing you'd ever seen! Good thing he got rid of it though, because he had a tendency not to wash it and yeah that's pretty gross.

8. Do you have any special plans for next week?

Succeed at my interview on Monday! Come on meee! Or failing that, get good news about the Admin job I had an interview for on Thursday.

9. At what age will you consider yourself old and why?

Well sometimes I feel old now! But I might plead the fifth because I don't want to think to hard about it. :OP

The Saturday Six

21/08/2010

1. Do you tend to think more or speak more? Definitely speak more! I even speak out loud when I'm by myself a lot, LOL!

2. How often do you find yourself writing down your thoughts so that you won’t forget some good idea? Not all that often actually, sometimes I wait until I have quite a bit in my head before I start writing it down.

3. What location allows you to do the best thinking? The library in general. I was at the Sydney Uni one yesterday, I hope the dust in there didn't cause this elbow problem, I'll be pissed!

4. During which routine activity do you tend to do your best thinking? Walking! Nothing like a good walk.

5. Take the quiz: What does your favorite Thought Bubble say about you?

Your Thoughts Are Wild

No one understands how that brain of yours works, including you!

You have a unique thought process, and it results in some pretty crazy ideas.

You don't try to limit your thoughts. When you brainstorm, the sky's the limit.

You are an uninhibited thinker and dreamer. Your ideas are extremely innovative.

6. Go back to the test and choose your second choice: which of the two better describes you?

Your Thoughts Are Constructive

You are a highly analytical person, and you tend to sit back and cooly assess a situation.

With you, logic and facts rule. And you never jump to conclusions.

You are always looking to think in new ways. You believe that reflecting is a good way to better yourself.

You tend to think before you talk or act. You are calmer than most people around you.

Definitely the first one! I have a lack of logical thinking and jump to conclusion all the time!

In other news I'm watching a show about messy houses, and these shows are always fun because they make me feel like a paragon of neatness sometimes! Seriously, I should record some of these to show my parents, they'll stop complaining! :OD

Itchiness!

Aug. 20th, 2010 10:30 pm
anonymoose_au: (A Gunrack?)
This morning not long after I woke up my arm felt itchy, and now I've got welts and itchness, but I have no idea what could have bit me! Plus I forgot to bring anti-itch cream to the apartment with me, and I don't really want to buy another tube because we've all ready got some. But I may have to if it's still itchy tomorrow.

In other news, I may be out tomorrow because it's the election and applied to work at one of the polling places (you get paid for that). I'm on the alternate list so I might get a call up tomorrow morning.

Which also means I have to go to bed shortly because voting starts at 8am so I would probably get a call way earlier than that.

So! Memes!

Friday's Question

20/08/2010

If someone was visiting your town for the first time, what local things would you make sure to show them/have them experience?

The Harbour of course! :OD Most beautiful harbour in the world and if you come in during New Year's Eve you can see the fireworks! Also the best in the world.

more Foxtel watching, tomorrow my plans include I'm not sure yet and Sunday, I want to have my assignment pretty much finished and ready to go!

Friday5

Mint!

1. How picky are you about toothpaste? Not super picky, but I hate spearmint, it burns I tell you.

2. What’s the best cooked dish you’ve had that included mint? I don't like mint at all, so none.

3. How far would you have to go from where you are right now to get a breath mint? If it's mint flavoured I'm not going anywhere for it.

4. Got any gum? Nay, I used to have some fruit-flavoured gum, but I'm not sure where it went.

5. What’s something you keep in mint condition? My books if I can manage it, but I usually can't.

Four For Friday

20/08/2010

Q1 - Stop and Count: How many cosmetics or personal care products do you use over the course of an average day? Well aside from shower wash and deordourant, nothing else.

Q2 - Deeds: What percentage of good deeds do you feel you do out of generosity versus the ones you do out of the avoidance of guilt? Ummm...I don't really do good deads out of guilt, although I really should donate some money to Pakistan.

Q3 - Find Me: Facebook launched a location-based check-in tool this week called Places. Similar to Foursquare, Facebook Places allows you to share where you are, find out where your friends are and discover new places. Would you want your friends and others on Facebook to know where you are? Well, most of them know where I am, but I wouldn't want the person on the street to know!

Q4 - Happiness: A couple of years ago (on April 18, 2008) I asked "How do you define happiness?" Mixing it up a bit, what do you believe is the secret to you happiness? Not sweating the small stuff too much...or something like that.

The (Other) Friday Five

Cards

1. What's your favorite playing card game? Why? Canaaasta! Because it's a kick arse card game! Even if I can't seem to win against M, even when I'm ahead!

2. Poker: five card draw, seven card stud, or Texas Hold 'Em? I don't know how to play poker, it doesn't really look like my bag.

3. Where gambling is involved what is the highest amount of money you'd bet on a hand of cards? N/A.

4. Have you ever had your tarot read with playing cards? If not would you want to? If so was it accurate, interesting, or just plain lame? Nah, I tried to read my own cards once, but considering I didn't actually know anything I was just making up shit.

5. What is on the back of your playing cards (the swirly red/blue design or is it a specialty deck with photographs)? I've got lots of different cards, but they're none of them are really fancy, at least on the back. The canasta cards M and I use are Japanese themed.

Righto!

Driver's Ed. Demon #1 is taking it right now. Did you pass your driver's test the first time you took it?

You are sitting outside on your deck in your comfy lawn chair, feet are up and the temp outside is perfect. There are no bugs to bite you and ruin the night... it's peaceful and all you can hear is the birds singing and an occasional cricket. Whats in your hand?

Someone once said that the grass isn't greener on the other side... are you jealous of your neighbor's lawn?

They don't have one...most people around here don't have lawns, so I don't need to worry about that!

Bud is walking along a beach barefooted and steps on a piece of glass buried deep in the sand. His foot is bleeding... does he cry, swear or stomp around on his other foot?

I don't know who Bud is, but I'd be swearing my ass off...and hope my tetanus injections are up to date!

I'm gonna take you fishing... are you going to be a whiney baby and not bait your own hook and when you catch a fish am I gonna have to take it off the hook for you?

From a Facebook friend: When asked what would you bring with you to a deserted island, why doesn't anyone answer "a boat"?

OMG! You're totally right! But then it'd depend how isolated the island is...I mean if you're a thousand miles from land, a row boat's not going to get you far.

Hamburger buns - sesame seeds or not?

I perfer no seeds.

From Demon #1: Whats your favorite flavor of water?

Natural flavour...the way God intended!

Eclipse is coming out this month... are you going to see it?

Fuck no...screw Twilight, talk about your pieces of crap.

Signature

Do signed copies excite you? Tempt you? Delight you? Or does it not matter to you?

Depends who the author is...I wouldn't turn down a signed copy of Harry Potter! And one time the Man David Attenborough was here in Australia...I wan't his signature, but I didn't have his book (nature books are waaay too expensive in this country!) I also have a copy of The Making of Hornblower signed by Ioan Gruffud, who didn't write it but starred in the show, so!

3x Thursday

Entertainment

1. Have you been to any events (sporting, music, other performance) lately? If so, what? Anything in particular that was exceptionally good?

Nope...but that's OK...although apparently next weekend Supanova - the comics convention is on, I wonder if I should go....

2. Seen any good movies lately? If so, what?

Nope, but I've bought quite a few fun DVDs! The First Season of Caroline in the City, American Dad and finally Season 6 of Family Guy - I thought I had it all ready, but apparently not.

3. Is there anything in the music department that has come out recently that you are in to? If so, what? If not, anything else catching your ear lately?

Nah...although I've been thinking of getting the Grease movie soundtrack, it's on sale for ten bucks.

Son of a bitch, I'm terribly itchy! I've managed to find my anti-itch cream, so that's a plus, I hope whatever it is isn't lurking in my bed! Because that's where I'm going now.
