11:18pm: Yes indeed! I do so love coming to the apartment, once I move back I better make sure to keep it clean since the new carpet is really very nice and it'd suck to not be able to see it!
My mother dropped me over tonight because instead of coming over this afternoon I stayed at home for a belated birthday dinner for my big bro. Unfortunately, Mum's snowed under with work at the moment and just about missed it! After Dad went to all the trouble of cooking a delicious spaggetti dinner - he got some high-fibre spagetti, nice, as well as garlic bread which I overcooked a bit, but it was still yummy.
Mum did get home before the big bro had to depart and I got to give him the cupcake I made - there's cake left over too, but no-one wanted a slice right then. The big bro in fact took the cupcake home, I hope he eats it! I don't want to hear it's been found all mouldy after he goes back to Japan in October.
Speaking of which, due to the fact he has to go back a few days later then planned he can take my parents to the airport! Good to hear because I've previously mentioned my discomfort with the parentals new car and its oversenstive breaks. Plus driving through tunnels make me most uncomfortable these days. Dear me. I'll have to bring that up with the Pyschiatrist when I go see him on Monday.
Today was a busy one! But I'm now registered with those library job finding agencies and got lots of advice for how to spruce up my resume. I'm reminded that I need to find my transcript for my BA, since the actually graduation certificate is too huge to carry around. I know I have one, but I'm not sure where it's got too. I hope I don't have to order a new one, I bet that'll cost money.
Hmmm, for some reason I decided to go and look at some of my earlier LJ entries last night, made me all nostagic for the good old days of Uni...although admittedly I was still bitching about pretty much the same thing (lack of job, procrastination), LOL. Still! It's always interesting reading about past me.
And now, to the Memes!
Friday's Question17/09/2010What is the funniest thing you have ever heard a kid say or what is the funniest thing you have accidentally said to/around a kid?Gee, I have no idea since I don't really hang out with kids, although a couple of weeks ago for Mum's birthday we went to my Grandparents place and my cousin Mack was there - he's 6 years old now and really hyperactive, LOL! I did say something was 'crap' in front of him, and Mum told me off. I better never babysit him...I wouldn't want my bad language to rub off!
Friday5Nagging1.What kinds of nagging injuries do you have?Well, my knees sometimes hurt, it's really annoying! When I was a kid they sometimes hurt so badly I cried. But it's not really from an injury, so...
However, the cause of the pain my tight muscles often do result in strains and aches in my legs and stuff.
I also have weak ankles, I once really hurt one of them when (I kid you not) I stepped off the curb. I don't even know how that happened.
2.What long-procrastinated task is nagging at you lately?Nothing long-procrastinated fortunately! I really need to get my act together with my second assignment, but I haven't been sitting on my hands for too long on that. But I better not dilly dally too much longer.
3.In what way have you been a nag to someone else?Whenever I see my big bro I often nag him to talk to me, because he's lame and doesn't like to. The ass.
4.Who in your life is a world-class nag?Sometimes my parents can really piss me the Hell off...but it's usually well justified.
5.Nag is such an ugly word. What would be a nicer way to describe someone who exhibits nagging tendencies?Uh...prodder? Encourager? Heh.
The (Other) Friday Five17/09/101) What is your favorite mode of travel? (Car, train, plane, etc). Train! Because it's convienent, I can read or write on it and it generally gets me where I want to go.
Planes are also fun! Although I'm still too nervy to get on one by myself.
2) Where is the northernmost place you've traveled? The southernmost?Somewhere in Scotland I guess, Loch Ness? We may have gone further up, but I'm not sure.
As for the southernmost, uh...Adelaide I guess. Unless Auckland is lower than that...I can't be bothered to check, LOL.
3) What is the last place you visited for the first time?Well, the building the One Umbrella is at if you want to get technical. I haven't done any travelling this year due to lack of funds, so that's pretty much as far as I can go there.
4) Of all the places you've traveled, which is your favorite?Oh man, that's so tough...if I really, really had to pick...Disneyland California, because it's freakin' Disneyland! I'd go there even now when I'm too scared to get on rides in case of motion sickness.
5) Where would you most like to travel to next?New York! Some day...some day...
And the 30 Days Meme!
Day 25 – A first, in great detailA first what? I guess it's wide open here...well, I'll go with the first time I saw
Back to the Future! It was actually around 1996 or 1997, Dad had on tape, but I'd never watched it.
BTTF II has been on TV the year before we left Dubbo for Sydney (1994) and Dad had encouraged me to watch it, but why would I watch Part II when I hadn't seen Part I? I think Parts II and III must have been shown and I must have caught some of it, because until I saw those movies some of the events in them were all mixed up in my head like one minute they were in the future, the next in the Old West.
But I digress! My brothers and I were home one day and insanely bored, when the little bro stumbled across the tape and we decided "What the Hell" and put it on. I wasn't totally enthralled at first - especially since the tape was old and the quality at least in the first 10 minutes was not good (eventually the first 10 minutes would be unwatchable! It was years before I bought my own copy and could watch them again - man how cheap I am?), but I stuck with it and then young George McFly and his stories showed up.
Oh my God! It was like looking into a weird mirror! Poor George, loving to write, but too petrified to show anyone what he wrote - I was just like that! My brothers saw it too and teased me mercilessly (gotta love 'em :OP) but from that moment I was hooked! It became my favourite movie of all time and my first finished story was a
BTTF inspired story with the theme of parallel worlds (incidentally
Sliders came out around that time and I was pissed because it looked like I'd stolen the idea or something - I hadn't!) And even though I've been obsessed with many other things in the 13 years since I always come back to that film and its characters.
I'm soooo glad I was bored that day and watch it otherwise...well, who knows!
( And all the rest )Well, I should be off, but! I have a Keanu Reeves tale for
anivad, I was watching
Millioniare Hot Seat this evening and a lady came on who told a story (every contestant has a little tale to tell before they get to answering questions) about while working in Sydney during the filming of
The Matrix she had Keanu Reeves hold a bus for her so she wouldn't miss it. They'd just been filming around the corner and were taking a break I guess. But they were in costume and the image of Neo in his trenchcoat holding up the bus - LOL. But how nice of him.
Righto, five minutes to 12 so I best be off now.
Goodnight all!
