11:26pm: It's the second last day of Le Tour, and apparently they'll be doing a time trail for the last day which is weird choice, but then again because of the Olympics its not ending in Paris like it always does maybe they want to do something different. That's not very interesting, I like to see all the cyclists in a group! I guess on the plus side it might be a team time trial so at least they'll have more than one guy on the road at a time. Oh wait no, the commentators have just said it's an individual one, except they've already had one of those? Maybe they've changed the rules.

That reminds me, the Olympics also starts this week, on Wednesday - which seems to be another weird choice, don't the Olympics usually start on a Saturday? Or a Friday? Guess it's still summer holidays over there in France.

In other news, I'm itchy, which is weird because there's no bugs in my house and it's the middle of winter so no mosquitoes. I hope I'm not allergic to my laundry powder since I am wearing PJs I washed - although that was like 5 days ago - because that would suuuuck.

Apart from that not much else to report I was going to play some Cities Skylines, but it wouldn't load up. Very odd - it worked a couple of days ago and I haven't uploaded anything since then.

Speaking of computers, all the Aldi self-checkouts were working today, but not all the Coles ones, interesting! Still lucky for me it happened this weekend because next Sunday Mum, her friend and me are off to Fiji.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention why this entry has the title it does, well the cyclist wearing Polka Dot Jersey (aka "King of the Mountains") yesterday was really phoning it in, he had the jersey, but no polka dots on the helmet or on his bike, very poor effort. The guy wearing it today has at least got the polka dot helmet, although the rider who held it last week knew how to do it right, he had polka dots on his cycling socks and the bike itself! Now that's dedication. ;O)

Right, I better go put some anti-itch cream on my arms...before I head off though

The Friday Five

8/03/24

1. What's a skill you'd like to learn? I've always wanted to play an instrument of some kind, like maybe the violin. I guess I could try to learn, but I suck at follow-through LOL.

2. What's a hobby you'd like to try? Hmm, I'd like to get back into painting Bob Ross style! Or maybe jigsaw puzzles again. I feel like that would help my creativity rather than getting on the net and scrolling so much.

3. What's the best compliment you've ever received? Hmm...gee I dunno...although at my Performance Review this week my supervisor said that I'm really pleasant to work with and am an asset to the Collections Team. :O)

4. What's one way in which you are awesome? Well I do have a 1000+ day streak on Duolingo XD in all seriousness though, I think I'm a pretty good writer, even if I don't do it as often as I like.

5. What's a gift you would like to receive (in case anyone asks)? Hmm...I'm a big fan of getting presents, but be damned if I can't think of anything in particular right now.

Eek, it's getting close to midnight now, so I better dash!

10:52pm: Indeed so, despite my last entry I stayed up waaaay too late and it's starting to bite me in the butt, firstly I've been yawning a lot, secondly I had a headache at work, fortunately, the ibuprofen I took worked.

Bit of drama today when I got home, I was watching The Chase when suddenly the apartment was plunged into darkness! And when I went to the door and looked out into the hall, the emergency lights were on. The power had gone off in the entire building! Eventually, I managed to figure out where to look online for power outages and saw that it wasn't just the building, a rather large swathe of red was showing on the map. More alarming to me was the estimated time it would take for power to be restored, 8pm! And it was barely past 5:30! I'd been planning to make lasagna, but I obviously couldn't do that in the dark or write on the McFly July prompts - well technically I could have for a bit, but I didn't want to be in the dark for that either.

So eventually, I headed out and noticed that the shopping centre I go to across the street was fortunately not blacked out, so I headed over there and sat in the nice area where they have a free library. And although I had brought me book along - I ended up trying to solve last Friday's crossword puzzle, while checking the power company's website to see if power was back.

Eventually around 6:30pm I decided to go outside the shopping centre and looked down the street to my building and saw lights on. Huzzah! Checking the website I saw there were still spots of red, but not in my area anymore.

So the good news, I got my lasagna made and had a piece for dinner, yummy! :O) And I got a little fic done for Prompt 3 (although I slacked off on doing more) and even got Cities Skylines going again - it must have been one of the things I downloaded. I did end up having to exit (fortunately I saved the game before this) because I tried to fix something the terrain and set off a huge flood! Whoops!

Right, it's past 11pm and I have to dash...before I go:

The Friday Five

29/3/24

1. Rice or potatoes? Definitely potatoes! Mmmm potatoes...

2. Fish or red meat? I do love a sausage and pasta sauce or whatever, so I'll go with red meat. Fish is healthier so I should probably have more of that.

3. Salad or cooked vegetables? Oooo that's a tough one...I do enjoy cooked vegetables, but I'm kind of too lazy to do that, so I guess I'll say salad.

4. Cake or ice cream? Another tough one, but I'll go with cake by the slimmest of margins!

5. Water, soft drink, wine, beer, or hard alcohol? Iced water 100%. Mmmm refreshing...

Goodnight!

9:11pm: Heh, I'm actually updating this on my mobile phone in the hotel room I'm sharing with my parental units. I do have my tablet with me, but my charger is letting me down, the battery is low and I haven't got a cable long enough to use it. I'll have to look into that before we head off to Fiji.

So tomorrow I'll be heading home on the train, it'll take about an hour and a half to get back to the centre of Sydney and I have another hour and a half to get back to the north side and work.

I've started working on the McFly July prompts, getting one done before my tablet's battery fell into the danger zone. I might try posting that one tomorrow, see how the battery holds up if I leave it plugged in tonight.

In other news, someone actually tried to assassinate Donald Trump today! Yikes... He wasn't seriously hurt, but someone else was killed and two other people at the rally were injured. The shooter was also killed. It's all kinds of bizarre, like I'm not fan of the Orange Man, but actually taking a shot at him? It's a strange place in the US, there were people on the news wondering how someone even had the ability to take a shot at a former president. Well geeze guys, maybe the whole easy access to guns might have something to do with it? Although I suppose the shooter shouldn't have been able to get so close, but he wasn't AT the event so he didn't need to go through metal detectors or anything.

It was a bit alarming that apparently people saw the guy up there and tried to earn the cops on scene, and the cops apparently didn't do anything until shots were fired.

Anyway, the US election looks like it's gonna be a bad time... Not looking forward to the outcome of that.

The curse of "May you live in interesting times" is definitely holding true. Although, as a follow up to mentioning the various elections going down, the French one has turned out to be less of a shitshow than feared. So there's that at least.

Well, Le Tour continues and it's on TV (fortunately Mum watches it), so time to enoy that.

Goodnight!
anonymoose_au: (Tour De France Jeeves)
8:36pm: Yes indeed, since due to the Rona Le Tour was postponed to the very end of August (it usually happens mid-July) so it's still going on right now.

Although much to my disappointment I'm still not able to get Phil Ligget's commentary :O( I've tried with VPNs and whatnot, but alas after ten minutes or so watching the dang thing pauses and has to be refreshed to work. Plus it's on a US network so there's like an add break every five minutes, no good. So I've been watching SBS's coverage instead, on the upside they've got a woman commentator now, which has made things a bit more interesting.

In other sporting relating news, this evening is the Russian Test Skates - where the skaters on the national team debut their new programs for the season. Since the Russians take their figure skating seriously this has become a big deal and is still on - with spectators! Hopefully, everyone will come out the other side still healthy. Plus, my favourite pairs team will be skipping it this year and my favourite Russian man decided to retire so that's all a bit a blow. However! My favourite skater of all, Plushy, has taken on two of the top Russian ladies as students so that's very exciting! Of course time zones means this is all on quite late, so I hope I won't regret staying up for it since I'm going to church tomorrow morning with Dad.

Apart from that, there's not much to report, work continues to go well and my apartment continues to be messy :OP and I've just remembered that I'm doing an online course as part of my work and should get on with that.

That's pretty much all I have to report - I kind of hoped to go ice skating this weekend, but then during the week there was a report of a COVID case at the mall where the ice skating rink is. I think it turned out to be a false positive, but it puts you off a bit. I'm a bit concerned that by the time I get back to the rink I'll be so rusty I'll have to start off holding onto the barrier.

On that note, I best be off, my second load of washing will be done soon and then it's figure skating watching time!

See you next time.

anonymoose_au: (Hey! Bitches)
9:59pm: For the election which was today. And unlike last time thing's are looking way better...the Liberals who have been screwing us over for the past three years look to end up in a minority government, which basically means they can't just do whatever the Hell they want.

Depressingly, though, the ex-Prime Minister Tony Abbott is still in his seat, unbelievable, I know this side of Sydney is conservative but that guy is the biggest fuckwit. Seriously, I'm embarrassed for people.

Moving on, Dad went to look at the granny flat for me todzy and reported that it doesn't smell, is quite large, in a nice backyard with the only drawbacks being that it's kind of old looking and doesn't have as many windows as my current place.

So, I prepared to send in my application for it, this the first time I've gone through an agent for something like this and damn is it involved, not only do I need work references, prior landlord references, but two more unrelated references! Oh and of course I need to provide 100 points of ID, which sadly, I can't do right now because I'm at the grandparentals. Oh well, I'll text the real estate agent to arrange a time on Monday for Mum and I to see the place and let her know I'll be sending it over in the evening.

So, things at least seem to be progressing well on that front.

Funnily enough, Dad knows the real estate agent from when he taught her at school! This probably won't have any affect on my application getting through, but hey, small world.

What else? Well, voting today took longer than usual, the polling place was just next door to the library and there was a line there the entire time we were open! No idea why, especially with all the comments about so many people doing early voting...although there's a suggestion the Electoral Commission might have over-estimated that and thus provided less polling booths today.

I didn't even get a sausage for my trouble (the sausage sizzle is an election day institution here in Australia).

After finally voting, I exchanged my sheets for ones with darker green on them, they're bird print actually and very nice.

Then the original plan had been to go straight to M and Grandpa's, but Mum went and saw M today and ended up taking her out shopping so she wasn't home. I thought maybe the whole thing was going to be called off, but nope, which is good, because Grandpa had made moussaka for dinner.

M did need to take a rest after getting home though, so Canasta didn't begin until nearly 5pm and I kicked butt in the first hand, but alas I lost the next two hands, neither of us has got to 5,000 yet, so I need to get to bed sooner rather than later.

So I should probably wrap this up then.

On a final note though, Le Tour De France has begun! Overlapping with Wimbledon! Man, I can't even stay up very late to enjoy those.

Oh well...

I'll be off now, though.

Goodnight all!

La Course!

10:09pm: Yes! It's the second year it's been held - the women's race which is part of Le Tour De France, I've always wondered why there's no Grand Tours for women. Actually...I think are some, but you never hear about them, shame. This isn't actually a Grand Tour it's a day race, but it will certainly bring attention to women's cycling since all the people who come to see the final stage of the men's tour will see it too.

Except no Phil Liggett commentating, I'm shocked, shocked! I guess I won't be hearing him tonight, because the Men's Stage doesn't even begin until midnight and I need to be in bed before that.

In non-cycling news, I made some very good purchases yesterday, I got to church early so I left my car and went to the St Vinnie's at Neutral Bay where I didn't find anything, but just for the Hell of it I decided to take a long in the discount clothing shop where I once bought my grey and brown bobble scarf, I haven't seen those scarfs on anywhere but Ebay in forever it seems, however! Yesterday they were back! So I got a new black one - my current black one is over five years old now and is looking a little worse for wear - and a grey one to replace the one I lost on the bus last year. Whoot! Although I have to be careful because I almost lost a grey bobble! It came off after church, I think it got caught in my Missal, but I managed to find it, phew! I've got proper glue now so I was able to fix it when I got home, although I had to take it out again this evening and now I've lost the lid, do'h! I hope it doesn't dry out. Because what a waste, if so!

Today was a general relaxed day, I finally returned most of the stuff I borrowed from Dee Why Library and paid most of my fine (It was $7.50), then it was off to the gym! :O) I must say the pool was looking particularly nice today when I got there. The sun was setting and the light was pouring in. Very sparkly underwater.

Hmm, lot of crashes in La Course, it's raining over in Paris and the road is all wet and slippery...and also cobblestoned at some points, a recipe for disaster! However, I think an Aussie is leading the field at the moment, go, Aussie, go!

Right, it's getting late, so time to do some Memes and hit the sack. )

Right done! And La Course is almost over, but the Australian has disappeared from the front, dang...

But now I must go! It's all ready past my bedtime!

MURRAY!

knee0pm: Ha ha undoubtedly none of you have any idea who I'm talking about, but in the third Monkey Island game this skull shows up and its utterly hilarious. He keeps popping up throughout that game and in the next and he's just shown up in the third chapter of Tales of Monkey Island. Aaaah beautiful.

Man, I'm getting rather obsessed with this game, tsk, tsk, I'm such a weird one when it comes to my obsessions.

Anywho, this morning proved to be quite a mess, what with arriving late to work and all. Damn buses! Fortunately, since I've been arriving on time lately the boss didn't kick my ass, although he did dock me half an hour's pay, that did mean I got to leave 15 minutes early to make up the half hour. Considering that I've been staying up so late to watch Le Tour I was tired as Hell today. Luckily, it's a rest day today so I can get to bed at a decent time.

Well, as long as I wrap this entry up in a timely manner, so the rest of the Memes please!

Sunday Seven

7 Reality Shows I Can’t Bring Myself to Watch

Well, it's gonna be hard to pick just seven, but here are the top contenders!

1. Big Brother - Does this show have any redeeming features? I think not.

2. Australia's Next Top Model - I can't believe anyone would want to be on this show, how belittling.

3. Please Marry My Boy - Dunno if other countries have this, but omg, it's just creepy entering a relationship on the basis of what someone's mother thinks!

4. That show that pits brides against each other for a chance to win an all-expenses paid wedding. Screw that.

5. The Biggest Loser - Because making people exercise until the throw up is not what I want to see! D:

6. Survivor - I don't even give a damn about that show.

7. My Kitchen Rules - The manufactured drama is just stupidly painful.

Unconscious Mutterings

I say ... and you think ... ?

1. Blood :: Red

2. Obvious :: Captain

3. Leadership :: Spill (thanks Aussie politics!)

4. Vest :: "See my..."

5. Praising :: Happy

6. Chair :: Musical

7. Think :: Tank, what are those anyway?

8. Carpet :: Ride

9. Without :: You

10. Politics :: Ugh!

Right! All caught up now, whoo!

Before I got to bed though, great news! Yesterday before I went to the gym I discovered my semi-precious stone globe key ring! Right in front of my face in the spare room at the parentals! I have no idea how I missed it! I swear St Anthony likes to play tricks. But the upshot is, I have it now. Yay!

And on that note, I shall retire to bed.

10:39pm: Yes, indeed! I managed to find a copy of The Tales of Monkey Island at EB Games in North Sydney today for $9.95! Scoooore! I've just started playing and I've all ready managed to solve a few puzzles! All without having to use the hints screen, double scooore.

Also I got to the gym where I did the weight lifting workout, although I keep forgetting that Tuesday is the day when this guy comes and uses the upper body ergometre for like an hour, which means I can't use it. Whoops, that's two weeks I've missed out on now, fail me. But hey, I got swimming in and everything.

Although, I hope I haven't been too ambitious moving up to the 6kg weights, because this evening while bending over to empty my parents' garbage bin I had a bit of a back spasm! Man, I better be careful. I've thrown my back out before and no way do I want to go there again!

Now, I'm here watching Le Tour with my mother, although I've heard most unfortunate news, my favourite team is Euskatel-Escuakd, which is a Spainnish and alas it hasn't beeen left untouched by the finicial crisis, if a new sponsor doesn't step forward the team will break up! As Mum pointed out even if they do get a new sponsor, they'll probably be a name change. Well, shit, that sucks, there's not another team in Le Tour with such a cool name.

And that's pretry much all I have to say for today, although I didn't wake up until almost noon! So I can safely say I've caught up on my zzzs, yay!

Oh! Before I go though, I must mention something surprising I learned yesterday, Andy Murray isn't the first Brit to have won Wimbledon since the 30s, a woman Virginia Wade won in 1977! How rude for no-one to have mentioned that! Hmpf.

For now, goodnight!

10:26pm: Except, I've gone and forgotten what it was, oh well.

In other news there's a doco on right now and the police officer in it is not holding the steering wheel correctly as he drives. I'm shocked, shocked I tell you. Although one time I swear I saw a cop talking on his mobile while driving so yeah.

And not much else to report, today was a regular workday, but I found out that Andy Murray has done it! He won Wimbledon! The first Brit to do so in like 75 years! Although this did lead to a discussion between the boss and me about whether the Wimbledon official types can really claim this as a victory for themselves because Murray is Scottish not English, and Wimbledon is the All-English Tennis Club. Still great news for Murray and his hometown Dunblane, where many years ago there was a school massacre at the primary school. So yeah, now they can be remembered for something else. Murray himself was in one of the classes attacked and was lucky to survive unhurt, it's quite a story.

I'm a bit bummed I didn't watch any Wimbledon this year now.

The Brits are also ahead in Le Tour, which isn't on tonight, but yesterday there was attempt to take on the favourite Chris Froome, but no dice, so he's in the yellow jersey now. Cadel's doing a little better now, hopefully the rest day will do him good!

And I had marinated chicken legs for dinner, most yummy! I've got one left over for lunch tomorrow.

So, with a lack of anything else to say...I'll wish you all goodnight!

10:29pm: In Le Tour that is. They're in the mountains and, of course this means the roads are very curvy indeed. Not quite as fun as roundabouts, but still pretty cool.

However, Cadel Evans is going too well, yesterday his bike broke down among other stuff and he's 4 minutes behind the yellow jersey, boo :O( They don't seem to think he can catch up.

On the other hand another Aussie is up front at the moment, looking to pick up King of the Mountains points! And a third Aussie who's in second in the overall classification right now! However, seeing as he's on the same team as the current yellow jersey holder I don't think he'll actually go for it. Le Tour is rather weird like that, there's only one overall winner, but it's also important to work within your team, even if that means giving up your lead.

At least, that's my understanding.

In other news, I did get to see my parents after I got home from the gym today and Mum even drove me into the city (she was picking up a friend who's come to visit). Yay! So, here I am kicking back at my apartment and I have to make sure I get myself up and out of the place before 9:30 tomorrow because the last couple of weeks I've been cutting it too close time wise!

Oh! And I finished playing The Curse of Monkey Island that was fun! I really do want to get the Telltale games, but I'm still poor so I shall have to wait.

11:04pm: Yes! An Australian is in the yellow jersey at Le Tour! It's not Cadel Evans either (he's a mountain man), but a new sprinter on our new Aussie team! He won the stage two days ago and the team won the Team Time Trial yesterday so as a result he gets to wear the jersey! How exciting! Also makes us look good after the schmoozle on day one when the Aussie team bus got stuck under the finish banner. Man, we're they mocking us for that one!

Makes me wish I'd picked him on my Fantasy Tour De France team, because compared to the other people who have entered in my office my score is crap, I'm like 100 points behind everyone else. How embarrassing! Good thing I didn't enter the pot, that would have been ten bucks lost.

In other news, not much, I got to my writing group this evening, but later than I would have liked, the problem is a got the good bus, but on the way down to the Spit Bridge a truck pulled out suddenly and the bus driver had to slam on the breaks. No-one was hurt or anything, but I was almost thrown out of my seat I swear! It was rather scary so I decided to get off the bus at Neutral Bay (just before the Bridge) to take a breather. And then the bus I expected to come didn't show up (I thought it was just behind us), so by the time I gave up on and caught another, the traffic had built up in the city, I changed buses for the one direct to the pub where the writer's club meets but it took forever to get through to Central. Bah.

Also I looked in some souvineer shops near the bus stop, but I couldn't find any koala squishies, they must only sell them down at the Quay, I'll have to go down there if I'm going to get another one. I miss my squishy!

Anyway! I also heard from my parents today - well actually I texted Mum about picking them up on Saturday and asked them how the weather has been - unfortunately the showers have been following them, do'h! However, it must be calm on the seas because Dad's been able to forego his seasickness bands, yay! I hope they found lots to do inside the ship. I wonder if they have an ice rink on that ship, some of them do. Sadly the portable ice rink doesn't seem to have come back to the Mall this year, shame.

And it's getting late, so I better wrap this up and hit the hay.

Goodnight all!
anonymoose_au: (Whoops)
11:46pm: With regards to the internet here at my parents' house, I came over to go to the gym, but planned to go back to the apartment if it still wasn't working, which it wasn't. I called up Telstra again, because it's been like 5 days now and that's not cool. Basically they couldn't tell me anything, so...

However, I came over here rather late in the day and it was dark and cold by the time I finished up at the gym, also I remembered something, I hadn't tried to restart the modem, which is quite an oversight when it comes to tech trouble-shooting. I decided I would stay over even if I couldn't get the damn thing to work, but thankfully it did, yay! Which means I didn't have to die of boredom until the tour came on. Although it's a team time trial and even though there's at least 16 wheels involved it's not quite as fun, which means I can go to sleep at a reasonable hour.

Although there's a dude cycling today with a hairline fracture of the pelvis, apparently it's important for him to be there, but I can't see the logic, surely he could only slow the team down, not to mention the possible long term damage! I hope he'll be OK...

And as it's almost midnight it's time for me to haul ass!

10:14pm: Which is a damn shame because I feel better now and could probably watch it now. Shame. But on Friday the Olympics comes and that's very exciting indeed, although having it on Greenwich Meantime is a pain in the ass, everything is on in the middle of the night! How am I supposed to watch it? Fortunately Dad thinks he's able to set up the laptop tv thing so it can timer recorder (which I can't seem to get to work on my TV up here). So, that's good to know, I want to see the trampoling!

Because there's no Tour I'm watching Q and A, which has Simon Sheikh on it tonight (he's the one who passed out from illness last time he was there) sadly though we haven't heard much from him tonight, I blame Christopher Pyne, that guy's always banging on and people keep asking him shit! Dang it.

I'm also playing The Sims 3, which is kind of hard to do when I'm also updating this thing and since I don't have much else to say I should wrap this up.

Except oh! The Newsagency boss mentioned to me this evening that he's planning to cut back my hours on Monday because at the moment it's rather long and now that I've got the other job I don't need so many hours anymore. 10:54pm: Yes, there's a baby shower for a co-worker tomorrow so what better excuse to make cupcakes! And this is a particularly good batch if I do say so myself :OD Although I'm slightly concerned about the small teaspoon of salt I put in, or rather the type of salt, I didn't realise it was quite so gradulated, I really should be putting fine grains in there, especially since I don't have proper beaters right now. I think it'll be OK though.

In other news, today is Nelson Mandela's 94th birthday! Happy Birthday to a great man! :O)

And Le Tour is back, they're going into the Pyrennes now and I just saw the strangest markings on the road, I swear it was a whole bunch of sperm. Honestly, the French.

Oh and I discovered that Cadel is still holding out hope he can do something to win the race, I hope so! I haven't managed to spot him yet but I can see Bradley Wiggins because he stands out in that yellow jersey. Come on, Cadel!

Although it sounds like Cadel Evans is beginning to lose hope that he can win, but then that might just be the newscasters speaking since I do't think an athlete would come out and say I'm gonna lose, LOL. Well, here's hoping!

Speaking of athletes tonight there was a documentary about Usain Bolt which proved to be very interesting! Man that guy can run! I look forward to seeing what he will do at the Olympics. Although apparently they've changed the rules so that instead of getting two false starts in track events, which is totally lame I think. But suffice to say all the runners will have to watch themselves!

As you can see I don't have much to report, although work was quite busy today! Good to have things to do! Although I was rather annoyed when my bangle caught on my stockings and ripped a nice big hole in them. I had to go to Coles during lunch to buy some more pairs. I've decided to leave one behind at work just in case it happens again so I don't have to hurry around.

And it's getting rather late now, so I better turn in!

Goodnight all!

10:07pm: Yes! Perhaps not sabotage, but definitely huge dumbassery. Some idiot or idiots threw tacks on the road of the tour route and as a result many riders' bike tyres were punctured and a couple of them ended up in hospital with broken bones! D: Cadel Evans, the previous winner was caught up in it too, but fortunately Le Tour is a genteman's race and the peloton including the current winner Bradley Wiggins slowed down to make sure they didn't get any benefit from these sheninigans. Stil what a stupid thing to do! If someone gets caught for that they should face public endangerment charges!

Anyway, my mother is of the opinion that Cadel Evans can't possibly win now sine he hasn't managed to make up any of the minutes he needs to to get infront of Bradley Wiggins, but I still hold hope. Go Aussie, go!

Aside from le Tour stuff, I really don't have anyting to say about today. It was just the usual stuff at work, although one of the bosses have gone on holiday so we were one down one man and I had to do some extra work with the magazines. But I do love my magazines so I didn't mind. :O)

And I have to remember to call the university tomorrow about my subjects and if I need to take another or what. I meant to do that this morning but surprise surprise I forgot to do it, I've but a reminder on my phone so I can remember tomorrow!

And now I'll be off, I was told I looked tired today so I better get to work on catching up on those zzzs.

Goodnight all!

11:27pm: Yes, yes it did. You go there to look at something and the next thing you know you're looking at something completely different!

But hey, it's fun to watch! :O)

In other news, I finally managed to track down a decently priced dressing gown at the Vinnies in Crows Nest. It's nice and red and it only cost me 10 bucks! I think I look pretty sharp in it if I do say so myeself.

In other news today I worked my extra half hour, but as I'm working with one of my favourite co-workers it's not so bad, time went pretty quickly actually. So that's good news indeed.

After work I had to go and get my eyebrows and upper lip waxed (because moustache! D:) but I had to go to a different person because my usual lady finishes early on a Saturday and I didn't want to wait until next Saturday because seriously that mo I mine would make a 15 year old proud :OP

Anything else to report? Nope, got to church in the nick of time and all went well and now I'm watching Le Tour.

Oh and I can't seem to find anyone to come ice skating with me. But I'll still go, because it sounds pretty cool, getting to go ice skating on the beachside. I'll get pictures!

And I don't think I have the inclination to do the Memes right now so I'll leave that til tomorrow. For now, goodnight!

11:05pm: The previous Tour De France winner and an Australian to boot! He's up against Bradley Wiggins from Britain for the yellow jersey this year and the heat is on (figuratively and literally!) if Cadel's going to defend his title. Fingers and toes crossed!

And now I've dilly dallied on this entry so I'll have to make it quick with the Memes:

Friday's Question

Have you ever been stung by a bee?

I have indeed, although in a very long time, I remember the last time vividly, not only because it left a mark on my palm for some years but because when I got it I was at Brownie Guide Camp collecting firewood and when the bee stung me I screamed: "Oh SHIT" which was really embarrassing...

Friday Fill-Ins

And...here we go!

1. For the first time in a long time I have some job security whoo!

2. My birthday get together is one of my best memories of the summer so far. (Which was back at the start of the year, Southern Hemisphere, yo!)

3. My recipe for lasagne is one of my favorites because cheeeeese! And pasta! And spaghetti sauce, yum!

4. I hope I'll be RPing for years to come.

5. It starts with a
bang...although I kind of hope not because bangs are scary.

6. None is a fragrance I enjoy most in a candle. (Makes my nose itch!)

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to watching Le Tour, tomorrow my plans include workin' for the man and church and Sunday, I want to go to the popup ice rink at Bondi Beach!

Friday5

Versatility

1. Among people you know, who has the most diverse range of talents or abilities? Ooo, hmmm...I'd say...my friend Zep, she has many talents indeed, particular arty ones.

2. Besides its intended use, what are three things you’ve used a paperclip for? Trying to open a lock (didn't work) and that's pretty much all I got.

3. What item in your pantry is the most versatile? Flour! Cakes, cheese sauce, covering fish.

4. What implement related to your work seems to be the most useful in different ways? Um...hmmm...I dunno...I've got lots of handy things but I wouldn't say in different ways.

5. What’s an item in your home that seems to have one (and only one!) use? Toilet brush, because God knows you're not going to use that anywhere else.

Man...I hope Cadel can make up some time today, they're both in the pelaton, so fingers and toes crossed!

And since I have to start work a half hour earlier tomorrow (for the following three months until one of the staff come back) I better get myself to bed.

Goodnight all!

10:42pm: Not that I need to, but hey any chance to watch a Peloton :O) Although I could also watch My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, I started watching the first ep just now, it looks pretty fun so far!

There sure is a lot of crashes in this Tour...I hope they don't have as many during the mountain stages, seems it'd be a lot more dangerous up there.

And not much else to report right now...it was the normal kind of day, although I'm reminded that the pop-up ice skating rink will be closing this weekend! I was thinking that I'd go tomorrow, only problem is it's started to rain and its supposed to continue right through tomorrow. I wonder if you can still skate in that case. :O( Oh well I'll bring my thick socks along just in case.

Ooo a Japanese rider, neat. They mostly seem to be Europeans in Le Tour, so it's nice to see some other nationalities about.

And that's all I have to say for today.

Goodnight all!

10:37pm: I've just finished watching a fine Scottish program called Taggart which I'm sure I've mentioned before (notable for the fact that since about 1993 there hasn't actually been anyone called Taggart on it because the actor died) and as it's based in Glasgow they all have Scottish accents and pronounce murder in a most charming fashion. LOL, it's very amusing.

And now I'm watching the Tour! :OD Go you pedalling pelaton!

In other news, work was rather dead today, I'm not sure if that's because of the work dinner last night or what. Considering how much work built up when I took Friday off last week it was a little weird! But that could have been because it was the end of the Financial Year. Probably the latter.

Anyway! Next Thursday I get my three month review, man I hope it goes well! I've never actually had a review before. Fingers crossed!

And now the Memes:

Friday's Question

6/7/12

Do you enjoy seeing fireworks? Why or why not?

As an Australia I sure do! We have the best firework displays in the world especially New Year's Eve and I always make sure to have a good spot to watch them! They're always bringing out new kinds of fireworks so there's plenty of "oooh"-ing and "aaaah"-ing to be had!

Friday Fill-Ins

And...here we go!

1. I am happy I have such fan-tab-ulous friends both online and off!

2. Cucumber and lettuce are my favorite summertime fruits and vegetables. (But I eat them all through the year anyway)

3. To help me remember stuff I've taken to putting reminders on my phone, which is working out very well for me!

4. A visit to the beach is the one thing I want to do this summer more than anything!

5. Just the other day I was saying
what are these sheninigans! But then I often say that ;O).

6. I enjoy listening to the same songs over and over again.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to
to listening to Phil Liggetts commentary on le Tour, tomorrow my plans include going to the Salvation Army to look for some shoes and work and Sunday, I want to kick back and hopefully get some Skyping with the friends!

Friday5

Disposables

1. What’s something whose disposable version has replaced its non-disposable version in your regular use? Um...Nothing I can think of!

2. What disposable item do you almost never use because you greatly prefer the non-disposable version? I'm quite the fan of reusable plastic containers rather than cling wrap for my lunch.

3. If they could somehow create a disposable version of something that (as far as you know) is currently not available in that format, what would you like to see? Hmmm...I think pretty much everything all ready has a non-disposal version. I got nothing!

4. What disposable item do you feel the most guilty about using? Kitchen paper towel, because I know I should use the sponge, but sometimes that thing is just gross.

5. What disposables do you tend to use more than the usual amount before discarding? Well I used to use floss sticks more than once if I was able, which sounds gross, but really it wasn't! :OP

And that's all the memes for today and look at the time, geeze it flies when you're watching Le Tour!

I bid you all goodnight!
