11:08pm: Oops, I've been watching James Turner Cities Skylines Let's Plays and it's waaay later than I thought! But yes, today was Archery Day!

I actually ended up being early because I thought I need to get there at 8:30am, but actually it was 8:45, I should aim for that next time so I won't be late.

And I'm planning on going again, I've signed up for the four week Beginner's course which starts next Sunday, I'm very much looking forward to it! I had a lot of fun, well except for the time I hit my boob with the bow string...but I got a chest guard so it was all good. Although, by the end I was also hitting my left arm with the bow string, so I might need an arm guard too? Also, as suspected I'm right eye dominant, which wouldn't be an issue except...I can only close my right eye, I can't independently close my left eye only squint, which made it super hard to look through the little sight thing on the bow. I'm considering getting an eye patch or something XD Then again, there's also a school of thought where you should keep both eyes open, so I dunno, I guess I'll ask the coach next Sunday.

Regarding the subject heading...well, I did get two arrows in the yellow zone! But yeeeeah... there were 12 people in total in the class, so we were in three teams of four, needlessly to say our team (I was with a Dad and his two kids) did not do well in the fun competition at the end. Also, there's now a photo of me on Facebook looking decidedly weird. I have no idea why I'm standing the way I am in it... On the plus side I'm wearing sunglasses so you can't really tell it's me :OP There's also a photo of the whole group where I don't look weird so, yay!

After that excitement, I lazed around the rest of the day until it was time to go to church with Mum and Dad... however, every school term the primary school kids do the Saturday evening Mass. Now, the lady who arranges it, is supposed to tell Mum it's happening, but she forgot... so we show up, the parentals have gone to some trouble putting together the Powerpoint for this week's hymns and discover school kids setting up! Dad was most annoyed, because yeah he works hard picking out the hymns! I figured I'd just go to the vigil mass at the other church, but Mum convinced me to come with her and Dad to the church she and I went to on Wednesday night. It did mean I got some marinated chicken legs from her for dinner, yummy!

Funnily enough it turned out that even though it was a completely different church, I still did my PowerPoint duty because there was a late request for someone who could help since there wasn't someone to do it. The other church also had primary school kids doing the singing, but they were quite good (no offence to the ones at my usual church - these kids are a choir so I think they've been practicing a lot).

So yeah, it turned out to be a rather interesting experience, although the set up of the computer in the other church is weird...the computer faces away from the altar so I needed to sit sideways.

I did have to catch the bus home because the parental house is between it and where I live, so they weren't going my way anyway. Fortunately, the bus service is good in that area so I got home in very good time.

Speaking of which...I haven't done my Duolingo and time is getting away from me so I better wrap this up.

Before I go though...

The Friday Five

16/8/24

These questions were written by Dreamwidth user spacefem.

1) Who are you appreciating in your life right now? Hmm...well I guess Mum, because she always helps me out and has good advice when I need it :O)

2) What's something you've done this year that other people appreciated? Umm...the Powerpoint at church I guess? The lady at the other church was certainly happy I volunteered to help this evening!

3) What's a good way to show gratitude? With a thank you and (depending on the relationship) a nice hug. :O) Maybe something chocolate related, LOL.

4) Do you write thank you notes? Nope, I will send thank you texts, if that counts ;O)

5) What can you use help with these days? Keeping my apartment clean, I cleaned it with Mum's help before heading off to Fiji at the end of last month and it's messy as Hell now. I really need to do something about it, I swear...

Right oh, for now, goodnight!

11:32pm: I have no idea why it's taking so long! I hope it hasn't got lost in the mail, I actually called my bank asking after it, but their computer says it's definitely been sent and I checked my address with them and it was right so... The lady I spoke to said that she could send another card out, but if the first one was to arrive on Monday I wouldn't be able to use it! And then...be stuck waiting three to five days for the second one to come! Fuck that. I sure hope it comes on Monday, I'm not sure how much longer I can go without easy access to a bank account!

I suppose I could just go to the Mall tomorrow and withdraw like...two hundred bucks or something, but I really hate the thought of carrying that much dough around, what if I lose it?!

But today was kind of embarrassing, firstly I had to borrow some money from Mrs S so I could afford my hair cut (technically, I don't think you're meant to do that, but she assured me it'd be fine and she knew where I lived :OP) However, the hair cut was $89 so I didn't have enough for my waxing appointment. I tried to call Mum, but she didn't answer her phone and Dad's went straight to voicemail so I couldn't have either of them pay for me over the phone, so I was stuck. I actually hadn't been home since leaving at around 1pm for the hair appointment and I thought it was possible the mailman could have come by in that time, so I pushed my waxing appointment back to check that out - suffice to say no card! So I just cancelled the appointment and figured I'd just give my tweezers a good work out.

Later on Mum called though and convinced me to see if they still had an appointment open and they did, so back to Warriewood I went. It was for the best, since my other consideration was to get the waxing done after work tomorrow at the Mall (where the nearest branch of my bank is), but it's never a good idea to have the waxing done on the same day as the event you're going to.

The lady who did my eyebrows and lips was quite funny, so that was fun. :OP

I also got Mum to give me her card details so I could pay for the reunion ticket, it is tomorrow after all and I'm pretty sure it's poor form not to pay for an event before you show up to it, especially if you're not good friends with the host!

Oh! And of course I can't neglect to mention that today is St Paddy's Day! Toast the green my friends! I made cupcakes for the get-together after church - which alas I won't be able to go to - with green frosting! :OD Sadly since I gave up chocolate for Lent, I didn't have any, but here's what they look like (Mum added the green lollies on top).

And whilst I wasn't able to have chocolate, I did make the choice to have green fairy bread instead. Which is very 'Straylian, so bring it!

And now, I must be off, tomorrow looks to be a busy day! I sure hope the weather will be better than it is right now...I have to take public transport to the reunion tomorrow and I don't want to end up blown off my feet or soaked head to toe!

Oh...and lastly...my hair is looking great! Except...the hairdresser cut it slightly too short, so now I'm going to have fiddle around with the sides until the grow long enough to tie back. Do'h!

But now, I say goodnight!

11:25pm: Now usually I can't abide destroying a good rhyme, but I'm watching the Olympic Curling with the ever epically panted Norwegian team. Love those pants! But oh dear, it looks like they're going to lose this round, but as I have no idea what the rules of the game are I can offer no reason why. Maybe they can salvage it. Go, the crazy panted ones, go!

In other news, tonight is my last nigh in my beloved studio apartment, at least until June 2nd, sad. Although I'm a beat sweaty because I've been doing the in depth cleaning one does when one is moving out of a place, I emptied the kitchen cupboards and drawers and have cleaned them with spray and all that. Hopefully, I've done an all right job, although I usually fail to meet Mum's expectations.

Oh Norway lost, now it depends on other teams as to whether or not they go to the gold medal round, I think? Like I said the rules of this game escape me! But as long as we see more kick ass pants.

I managed to miss Roy & HG again, do'h! I'm waiting for it to come back on on One, no sign of it yet, though.

There's also the long program for the ice dancing tonight, but I bet it'll be on really late so I'll have to try and watch it tomorrow when it replays.

Anything else to report? Well, I may need to see a new pyschiatrist because my current one is moving his practice up to Newcastle, however, he is hoping to do Skype sessions so I might look into that, otherwise he assures me the guy I'll be referred to is great.

And one final thing, why doesn't the auto correct recognise I'll? Wait, it just did! Bloody annoying!

Anyway, that's all I have to say for today.

Goodnight all!

11:00pm: Yes! Since my parents came over to visit today I had to make sure eveything was nice and clean, I didn't quite get everything sparkling, but the parental units helped out so yeah it's looking good. Although I do need to mop the bathroom floor, but whatever.

In other news today was Merlin day! A very exciting episode to be sure! :OD Although I'm not sure Tumblr agreed with me, LOL. And next week also looks to be very interesting too :O) Although I will make one complaint, the end seemed a little rushed, what's with Merlin and the rushed endings? They sure do suck at time keeping skills - which is rather hypocritical coming from me ;O)

And now I'm watching Homes Under the Hammer, I do love this show :OD It's always cool to see how the houses are madeover afterwards, and I'm pleased to see the new owners are actually keeping the lawn, makeover shows these days seem to be all about getting rid of the grass, what's with that anyway?

Moving on, the Memes!

Saturday Six

1. G is for GAME: Which game were you best at playing when you were a child? Ummm...making up stories to myself game? LOL. Sports and board games weren't really my strong suit.

2. G is for GHOST: Do you believe that ghosts exist, whether you’ve seen one or not? I believe in life afer death, but I don't think the spirits of the dead come back to earth and hang around causing weird shit to happen, though.

3. G is for GLOBE: What country anywhere around the globe would you most like to visit? New York City! Whoo! :OD

4. G is for GRILL: What’s your favorite food to have grilled outdoors? Sausages, mmmmm, sausage-y.

5. G is for GRITS: Have you ever eaten grits, and if so, do you like them? I don't know what those are. So no comment.

6. G is for GUM: Which brand is your favorite chewing or bubble gum? Don't really chew bubblegum, although Juicy Fruit is OK if I do feel I need to chew something.

:Who Are you? Part 2–The Grown Up Meme

Part 2: Growing Up

15. How would you describe your childhood in general? Happy, yay! :OD

16. What is your earliest memory? Falling through my inflatable floating ring thing in a pool and Dad having to jump in to save me - although that's probably an informed memory rather than a real one.

17. How much schooling have you had? Taking into account tertiary education? About 16 years...shit that's a lot.

18. Did you enjoy school? I did! Particularly high school, what can I say I was a bit of a nerd.

19. Stop and count, Since you were born until today; how many homes have you lived in? Umm...2 in Canberra, 2 in Dubbo, 1 in England (for a few months) and 5 (if you count the three months I lived in my Uncle's granny flat and the month I lived with a friend) in Sydney, so...10.

20. While growing up, did you have any role models? Umm, hmmm, I guess I did, but to be honest I can't really think who they were. Probably my Year 5 teacher, she was cool and encouraged my writing. Good times.

21. While growing up, how did you get along with the other members of your family? Very well! :O) Though of course my brothers and I fought a whole lot.

22. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? I did not make any long term plans, which has kind of come to bite me on my butt.

23. What were your favorite activities 3 years ago? Pretty much the same things I enjoy now, writing, surfing the net, hanging with friends.

24. As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display? Umm...creativity, weirdness, cheery disposition - to too my own horn.

25. As a child, were you popular? Ha ha, no.

26. When and with whom was your first kiss? N/A

27. Describe any influences in your past that led you to do the things you do today. Umm...hmmm, ponders...my parents I guess, I'm not really sure. Maybe M, my grandmother, since she was a librarian for a while.

28. What’s next? The eternal question...although I'm really liking my job at present, so things are looking pretty good.

11:41pm: Yes! I wasn't able to find my free ticket thing, so in desparation I called the mobile number listed on the antiques fair website and the nice person who answered said that I could give my name at the front desk and I'd be able to get in for free! So, off I went today and oh the sights! So many desks and drawers! I took quite a few photos but I don't have time to load them up tonight, I'll see if I can get around to it tomorrow.

Suffice to say it was good to get out of the house, even though there was a bit of a schmoozle because I was meant to make lasagne for tonight, I ended up making the cheese sauce, but Mum was annoyed that I didn't use all the milk (because I was following the recipe), so it descended into chaos a bit. And then we discovered we didn't have lasagne sheets! Fortunately Mum was going out anyway so she was able to get some more and drop me off at the bus stop while she was at it. However much to my distress when I got home from the gym I discovered she had burnt the top of it. Very unfortunate and a waste of cheese. Once you got passed that though, it was quite yummy.

Hmmm, well time is slipping away from me here, so I don't think I'll have time for the Sunday Memes, here's the Saturday one though.

Saturday Six

1. What is the last business you decided to boycott because a group called for one? The feminine protection company Libra because of a seriously nasty ad they put up against transwomen. In their defense they didn't mean to be complete assholes and pulled the ad so I went back. I heard about it on Tumblr and it wasn't exactly a group, but close enough.

2. What business have you most recently boycotted because of your own experience with the company? Ummm...I got nothing. Fortunately customer service has been good for me! :O)

3. Have you ever patronized a business specifically because others have called for a boycott? Nope.

4. What is the key factor you use in deciding whether you’ll patronize a business whose owners have views other than your own? Well, admittedly I usually have no idea what the views of the owners' of businesses I patronise are. Not my best effort at being socially concious. :OP

5. How much research do you typically do into the charitable contributions or philosophies of the corporate owners of a business before you patronize it? See above, sweet FA...I should maybe get onto that.

6. What single business do you patronize that most closely matches your own world view? Well Oxfam has a very good philosophy indeed! I volunteered there for a while in fact. Helping out developing countries by buying their goods at fair prices, good stuff.

10:40pm: Indeed! Today was the last day of the Winter Festival at Bondi Beach and while I couldn't arrange to meet any friends there I headed off on my own and it turned out very fun indeed! IT helped that the weather was absolutely brilliant today! Not a cloud in the sky! Or if there was they were nice puffy ones.

Anywho I got some pictures! )

So yes! I had a lot of fun and I had fish and chips for lunch (well if you're going to the beach what else do you have?) and enjoyed the sun.

I even went looking for a new pair of brown shows, but I still can't seem to locate any pairs that take my fancy for a reasonable price. I think my feet are a weird size too, like size 6.5 wouldn't fit, but size 7 was too loose. Is there a size 6 3/4 or do I have to resign myself to having to put those heel grip sticky things in the back my shoes forever. Hmm, odd!

Oh and don't think I'd forget the Memes! )

In other news this evening after work I went to the pop up ice skating rink, and was worried for a moment that they weren't going to have the last session because I was the only one who showed up! Fortunately though they let me on and since no-one else showed I had the rink all to myself. Whooo! I think the skates could have used a little sharpening, but hey, what 'chu gonna do? A fun time was had indeed! Good thing the weatherpeople can't predict the weather for shit! It didn't even rain!

Then back home where my little bro came for a visit and I got somewhat bad news, it looks like he might have to stay until September! Boo I say. Good to see him though.

And tomorrow is going to be a rather important day, I'm having my three month review! Mum thinks I should take this opportunity to see if I can't be made permanent in some capacity. I'll have to see how it pans out.

10:31pm: Back to the Future! Samoa skips a day! Yes, in Samoa right now it's Thursday, but when they wake up tomorrow it's going to be Saturday! They've decided to cross the the internation dateline to join us eastern hemispherians. Although I have no idea what the deal with Kiribati (pronouced ki-ra-bas for some reason) is, apparently they jumped over in 2000 to be first to ring in the new millenium and just never changed back. How weird is that? You can just rock up to the UN and announce you've changed your timezone no matter how ridiculous that is?

But fun fact! I heard on the news that even though Friday is being skipped, all workers will recieve their Friday pay :OD LOL, how cute.

Speaking of Saturday, it's a work day for me, so I should get myself to bed earlier than later tonight. Although I hope I'm still starting at 10 rather than 9:30am, I guess I will be because tomorrow is a huge Lotto day ($31 million dollar jackpot) so there's going to be people everywhere! Gotta have a clearhead.

In the meantime, memes! )

Right, not much else to report, except I went to Chatswood to use some Myer gift cards I got in order to buy a new bra. They've gone and changed colours so any beige ones wouldn't match the underpants I all ready have, and there was a complete lack of decent green ones. So! I settled for purple, which I think makes me look pretty sharp LOL.

After that I went to visit my friend and we had to help some people with an old lady who had fallen down. She was OK in the end, which is good!

10:27pm: Yes! My new little netbook! I took a chance of going to the Post Office after work this afternoon (I went back to the apartment to clean up) and enquiring if there was any packages for me and here it was!

It's as lightweight as promised and quite speedy. I'm just setting up some of my programs and whatnot on it now. Including my mobile phone so I can upload some pictures of it for you to see. :O)

I'm also getting used to the keyboard, they've put the ' key down the bottom for some reason, it's a bit of a pain. It also took me a while to find the [ and ] keys too, LOL!

Anyway, I should wrap this up, I totally didn't get enough sleep last night and I was paying for it today!

I will say that once again, my idea of clean and my mother's idea of clean do not match up! 10:07pm: Yes indeedy! But I've had to do something tricky to get the interent to work on it...apparently my mobile provider didn't have the phone on file and wasn't able to send me the proper connection details. It took aaages of hunting on the net to find the right address. And like I said I had to do a weird thing.

Anywho, I put some games on it too! Sonic the Hedgehog and even Pac Man, LOL! Sadly though I seem to have got something on the screen all ready and it won't come off! I suck, LOL.

But yes! More about seeing BTTF yesterday! There were so many people there! I swear I was really quite worried that I wouldn't get a good seat or the free popcorn. I also had a bit of a scare when I somehow lost my ticket printout and my driver's license address didn't match the address I'd given the booking place. But they believed me and I got the ticket. :O) And the free popcorn, but alas, they only had diet coke on offer for the free drink...I don't drink fizzy drink so that was a bust.

I did end up getting a good seat and it was a long wait for the big moment, but there was a raffle and amusingly enough an 'air guitar' competition to win a guitar that looked a lot like the one Marty plays at the dance. The contestants had to air guitar the famous 'Johnny B Goode' scene, LMAO! They were very good at it too! Although I think the guy who was best at it didn't get the prize in the end. The actual winner had louder friends, ha ha.

I went in my fan-made BTTF t-shirt, but lots of people had really dressed up, lots of Martys with hoverboards! And I think they were fan-made for the most part. How do you even do that? These were impressive looking hoverboards.

And of course the DeLorean! The organisers of the event said that it's considered one of the greatest replicas in the world. And it's pretty fabulous!

It's not the best quality, but there's going to be a professional one put up on the website, which I'll buy when I get the chance. I got to sit inside it! It had the Flux Capaitor and the time circuts and everything. Good tiiimes!

And seeing it all in the big screen! Fabulous! You could see the graffiti on the school really clearly...sadly I've forgotten what one of them that was vaguely rude said. And I swear I really did see the person running in the background in the 'Lone Pine Mall' scene.

Oh and of course the big Clocktower scene with surround sound? Holy shit, that was one Hell of a storm!

The only drawback, the train home was late and as a result I ended up having to catch a taxi home from the train station because the bus had gone and mum wouldn't come and pick me up! She's so lazy. :OP

Right and now to do something I haven't done for a long time...

Memes please! )

And once again I'm out of time, so I better get going, volunteering calls tomorrow.

So for now, goodnight!

11:23pm: LOL, it that the right mish-mashing of words? Or does it sound more like I went to some fundamentalist camp?

I in fact when with Aunt Chris, Uncle Laurie and Cousin Alex to the museums today! Firstly to the National Portrait Gallery, where there's portraits dating from the 1600s (well, one of Van Demien, the Dutch guy who discovered Tasmania) all the way to today!

Alex and Uncle Laurie actually only came to the Portrait Gallery with us because he had to go and play soccer, but it was great to see him! It has to have been about three years or more since I have. Man, I've gotta come down to Canberra more often!

After we finished with the Portraits, Auntie Chris and I went to Questacon which is this kick-ass science museum! With all these fun exhibits, like an earthquake simulator, games, a Telsa Coil to simulate lightning! I haven't been there in aaages, so we basically went to all the exhibits and it was 4:30 by the time we finished!

I brought something from the gift shop, it's not exactly science-y, it's a deck of mini-playing cards, since my apartment is so small, I really need to downsize, LOL!

We were going to go to the National Library afterwards, but it closes at 5 so not enough time. So instead Auntie Chris and I went walking near Lake Burley-Griffin, which is in fact a Fake Lake.

Since it was Saturday there were quite a few Wedding Parties out and about...we saw four! And I got some photos taken with my phone, I haven't uploaded them yet and it's rather late, so I'll do that tomorrow.

Eventually at about 5:30pm Uncle Laurie and Al came to pick us up, before we drove Al back to where he's living at the moment. I have to agree with the big bro, Canberra is seriously spread out! What's with that?! It took us half an hour to drop him off and an hour to get back to Aunt Chris and Uncle Laurie's house, but then we did stop for take-away pizza. Very yummy! And more of Aunt Chris's chocolate cake for dessert!

Not sure what's on the cards tomorrow, I should book my trip home though...I think I'll leave on Monday.

Anywho, can't really be assed to do memes at the minute...I'll get onto those later.

But this Quiz is cool and I keep forgetting to post it, until now! )

A goodnight to you all!

11:52pm: Indeed! I have just returned from seeing Brian Wilson at the Domain, he and his band were great! They did all the classics! Good Vibrations, California Girls, Sloop John B, Fun Fun Fun, Hawaii! For one of their encore song they did Johnny B. Goode, which was really quite funny! :O)

After their encore, there was some fireworks and I think it must have been the City of Sydney Council using up all the orange ones, because that was the only colour we got, LOL!

Fortunately for me, I managed to score a bus first go, so I made good time, which is why I'm back here before midnight.

So, all in all a great evening! I got some pictures but they were from my mobile so they suck...ah well. It was good stuff...I couldn't see the stage but fortunately they had big screens up so we could see the band. For some reason they had a woman singing too, a real blonde California girl I guess. :OP

Moving on...I haven't quite figured out what to write for the Eleventh Day of the Meme yet, I'll get back to you on that one.

Memes please! )

And now I shall go to bed, especially as I have sore feet.

Goodnight to you all!

10:16pm: I neglected to update yesterday, my little bro's birthday! I spent most of the day working with my new album stuff, I've got a new update for it actually.

For high resolution screens only, I'm afraid!

I'm dead tired...didn't get enough sleep last night, so I shan't go on about today, except to mention I had to clean up dog waste again! Argh! I ask you who doesn't housetrain their dogs? Honestly?

Eh, Memes )

You know I've just thought of another phrase that I hate "The battle of/for hearts and minds" shut the fuck up about that...I mean they've done that to the ground.

Oh man, I am so tired I can barely think, I need all my concentration at work, I've had several important things slip my mind so I better get to bed now so I'll be recharged in the mornning.

Good night all!

12:11am: Yes! I am the proud owner of The Sims 2: Seasons! And I've spent the last hour and a half playing it to see what it's like.

And it be great! )

Unfortunately it's now quite late and I totally didn't get enough sleep last night! And I forgot to call the Wesley Uniting People to tell them about how I don't need to do Work for the Dole anymore.

I was also late for my interview this morning, so embarrassing! :Oo But it seems to have gone well, and I have another appointment on Monday, I have to bring some references along and they're gonna call up those Outsource people and see why I got fired...I if I can find out their number...Whoops, didn't consider that.

New Simpsons on tonight! Well last night now, I really enjoyed it! Good LOLs. :O)

Anywho, as mentioned, it's late and I'm tired so I'm gonna skip the memes for today and I'll do it tomorrow along with more of that 5000+ q survey I've been neglecting lately.

And now I bid you goodnight.
