10:58pm: Which I gotta do again tomorrow because there was a mistake today and the nurse who was supposed to come, didn't! Bloody annoying it was too, so now I have to go in early tomorrow as well, which means I really need to get myself to bed. I didn't get enough sleep last night either and with this hot weather I've been quite scattered and a bit whiney (LOL), plus tomorrow I go to my grandparents' place which means Canasta so I have to be awake for that!

Anywho, I'm back here at the Granny Flat, fortunately the cool change has come through so the air conditioner is handling things well in here. Which is a relief! Although, the extremely hot weather is set to return on the weekend, so I'm not sure what will happen then.

Aside from that not much else to report, although I did finally go to the Mall and buy that Glide stuff that cyclists use and with the weather as hot as it was today it wasn't a moment too soon! I also got some shoes that Mrs S saw during the weekend but didn't buy.

Finally, I'm pleased to announce I managed to fit my Christmas decos on top of my second wardrobe here! This is very cool as I won't need to worry about having to get them from M and Grandpa's garage. I also bought more over the door hooks and now my bags are all nicely lined up on the back of the door to my bedroom/living room area.

The one downside of today...I was opening a drawer and pulled it too far out and it fell landing right onto of my right foot (what is it with my right foot?) and it's left a mark as well as a decidedly sore bruise. Well, at least I didn't break anything.

But no more dilly-dallying! It's off to bed!

Goodnight all!

10:56pm: Or perhaps lessons in not leaving stuff on your bed, because I managed to give myself a very nasty scratch from my pacer! Ouch! Also uncool, the weather's supposed to get warm this week and this is going to be quite visible if I wear a t-shirt or short-sleeved shirt. Damn how long is it going to take to heal I wonder? It looks like I came worse off against a cat! Which is probably a better story than been attacked by a pacer...

Moving along from embarrassing injuries, it's been an ordinary ol' Monday with not a lot to report. I did get to the gym though which was good! Except I forgot to bring my water bottle up with me and I didn't feel like going back to the parking lot to get it so I ended up getting rather thirsty. Boo.

After finishing up at the gym I headed home where Plushenko the fish continues to thrive in his tank, a welcoming sight :O) Although I probably should have gone to the supermarket because as I discovered I didn't actually have any proper food in the house. Whoops, not to self: go food shopping tomorrow.

Also on the "to-do" list tomorrow is volunteering at Dee Why Library, since I'm working at Mona Vale Library on Thursday. Apparently, they really need me to help with the selection of books for the home library patrons, so it's nice to be needed. Although...with that in mind they really should hire actual staff to do that. It kind of sucks that they don't, with under-employment being such a big problem in Australia. Obviously, the Government isn't providing enough funding for libraries, hmpf, what else is new?

All right, rant over then...after all I want to catch up on Memes after all, even though Friday5 is still down.

The (Other) Friday Five

19/08/2016

1. What’s your favorite way to stay cool in late summer? Going for a swim then going into an air-condition room!

2. Are you ready for autumn yet? Fortunately, we've headed into Spring so I don't have to be worried about that. :OP

3. What do you have left to do before summer ends? Well, Summer hasn't arrived yet, but I sure as Hell need to meet up with some friends before it does! I've been very anti-social lately, not fun.

4. Has it been a good summer for you? N/A

5. Have you started Christmas shopping yet? Ha ha, no. I have no idea what to buy to be honest, I'm a terrible gift buyer.

Stardate 11609.09: Star Trek 50th Anniversary

Star Trek isn't my bag so I'll skip this one too...

16/9/16

1. What are five good health habits for one to have? Drink lots of water, exercise, have a carrot a day, laugh and relax.

2. Name any four things that you want to do before you die? Visit New York City, see Plushy skate, write a book and own an apartment.

3. Name three songs to which you know all the lyrics? Uh...I'm not sure, sometimes I think I know all the words and then when it comes time to sing. :OP

4. What were you doing two hours ago? Watching TV and chatting to my friend Steph on Facebook *waves*!

5. If you could smash and break one thing and one thing only, what would it be? Donald Trump's face - no that's rather violent. I'd smash his desk instead, it'd be cathartic.

Right, it's nearly midnight so I better be off! I did promise not to stay up too late even if I have the day off the next day.

10:44pm: LOL, I probably shouldn't try to speak street...but I will anyway because it's fun.

And also true! Because after work today I drove to Vinnies in Brookvale to meet up with my mother and began our search for new furniture - since except for the wardrobe the new Granny Flat is unfurnished.

We originally went to Vinnies to look for a small table, but those aren't easy to find so unsurprisingly there wasn't any there. What was there however was a sexy red reclining chair, with a foot stool for only 50 bucks! Now, I have my white chair, but to be honest it's not actually all that comfortable to sit in - it's a little high for me - and the stool (which I do use all the time) is all sort of threadbare. So I bought it and Mum's going to pick it up on Wednesday in Dad's car - which is an SUV so can fit such a thing.

The other reason we went to Vinnies was to get the contact details of the movers they use because they were really good last time I moved. We succeeded with that and I called the guy as Mum and I (in her car) headed towards Manly and the second hand whitegoods place. I didn't get the guy first go and had to leave one of those 10 second messages that will be converted to text. Ew...I hate those so much, I'm always worried the software won't understand a thing I'm saying and they'll just get some garbled shit. I guess your phone number still shows up. Either way the guy did get back to me and I arranged the movement of furniture to happen on Thursday.

Mum and I took a detour to Fantastic Furniture to continue the table hunt and we found a very cool one that folds down! It was quite expensive, like $270 and that didn't include chairs. I did actually buy it, but later on Mum saw what she thought was a better option at Target so I have to cancel my order on the table - still getting the chairs though - which is good because you have to cancel your order in person, and there's nothing worse then having to drive out of your way for no real good reason.

Then it was to the whitegoods place in Manly where I'm pleased to say I found a fridge (with a four star rating!), a washing machine (which sadly had an absolutely atrocious energy and water rating) and a rather sexy small black microwave. Whoo! Sweet. It's gonna cost me $660, but that does include delivery, so I think I've made out good. :O)

In other news, tomorrow is my cousin Mack's belated birthday get-together! I called Uncle Sam to ask if I should make cupcakes - the invite said no need to bring anything, but you know I love any excuse to make cupcakes! He said thanks but there was enough food so no, I was a bit disappointed - I could practically taste that left over cupcake batter!- but what can you do? However, a little later Mack himself called me and told me to make some, I assume he had his parents, or at least his mother's OK to do this. So I made them! However...as I was taking out the batch of four extras from the oven I managed to spill them with one landing on my thumb and burning it! Ow! Epic fail!

I've not been very good to my hands today...I got a rather nasty papercut this morning and then I somehow managed to catch my finger in the rings of the folder with the timesheets in it which hurt like Hell. And of course this burn, which I think has derailed my plans to do some memes because I need to put a wet cloth on it so it'll stop hurting.

And finally, I hurried home because the sky was looking quite threatening and I wanted to get my washing off the line, however it was still a bit damp and the sky seemed better so I left it out there...only for the rain to come by about half an hour ago! Fuck! I got it inside but now it's damp-er then it was when I got home this evening.

Grumble, grumble.

Oh! I almost forgot! I managed to write 390 words today! LOL it's sad how excited I was by that...:OP Come on me, get with the program.

Anyway, signing off now.

11:46pm: Well, that and my inability to keep track of time...

But as you can see I've left this entry super late and now I have to hurry to get to bed!

Suffice to say, it was a busy day what with the moving continuing, my shift at the Library and going to church with the parental units. I was successful in all those though! Even though Mum dilly-dallied getting to the other Granny Flat and I ended up carrying everything I'd put in my car myself! :OP

However, Mum and Dad did to my washing so I can't complain too much. Also, for dinner after church there was lasagna! :OD

The only downside was when I managed to stub my toe on the dustpan and broom that was left out, you should have heard the stream of curse words I let out! O.o Thankfully, I don't think there was a bruise, but Dad thought it was Mum making all the noise and that she'd hurt herself.

Oh and I did end up wasting a bit of time because I went to Coles after work and bought among other things some ham, after doing that there was no time to get to Mum and Dad's house to take a ride to church with them. So instead I ended up driving here to the Granny Flat and putting stuff in the fridge and then hurrying back to church. And when I got there, I noticed a little mini-fridge in the canteen...so I could have just put it in there. Whoops.

Ah well, it did mean I was able to record Australia's Got Talent, which I'm thoroughly enjoying so there's a plus.

But now, I must go! I'm all ready going to be behind on sleep! Will have more tomorrow, I hope...

11:45pm: And now I'm left with 15 minutes to update you all about my day! Whoops!

Well, it was my first official part-time shift today! :OD How very exciting, although it wasn't like anything exciting went down. Although it wasn't as busy as everyone expected it would be because instead of it being all cloudy today it was nice and sunny.

This actually leaves me a bit concerned about my clothing situation for tomorrow...It's supposed to be 27 degrees, which as I've mentioned is more like dress weather. But the bruise on my shin is as ugly as ever to say nothing of the other bruises on my leg. Damn.

Anyway, the moving continues with Mum coming by and looking over the basket situation as well as helping me take down a small shelf and my Agatha Christie books, which I'll be taking over tomorrow morning before work at 12:30.

Still need to clean up this place here more...I'm sure C will want to come up and look at it when she gets back from her holiday so it'd be kind of awkward if the place still looks as messy without any furniture in it!

Hmmm, and there was something else I was going to say...oh yes, I was extremely disappointed when I realised that I'd forgotten to watch the ice skating on SBS today and was even more bummed when I found that for some reason the Foxtel Box hadn't recorded it! Son of a... Most displeasing! I tried to record it when I realised because sometimes it'll catch the whole show if you do that, but no. If only I could figure out how to get the videos off the SBSOnDemand site. Bah!

Speaking of videos, Operation Dub continues too, although the number of times I haven't recorded programs all the way through...so annoying!

Anyway, there's no time for Memes, I'm afraid, so I'll be off.

11:24pm: Today the analogue-to-digital USB arrived! :OD I got an SMS from AusPost so after my busy day - work at Mrs S's, picking up Mrs S's wheelchair, going to the gym and going to get my change of address put on my licence as well as do some shopping - still no luck with the toilet brush - I went to the Post Office up the road to collect it.

It works great! I'm using it to dub stuff right now on my old laptop although I'm not completely sure what's on each tape...because it's not always what I've written on the label.

So at the moment I'm not actually dubbing anything, so instead I'm tying up this entry and then I need to do my Russian study before bed.

Although, I'm kind of distracted by this crazy-ass movie about airline hijackers from 1992, how they'd even get those guns onboard? I mean, I know it was 1992, but seriously that's some bullshit security right there, they should be ashamed of themselves. (This was probably explained earlier on, but whatevs).

Not much else to report, although my packing up doesn't seem to be resulting in a cleaner place at all! And I don't actually have time to do anything more about that, I need to get to bed tomorrow is the first day of my part-time work at Mona Vale so I want to look good. :OP

But I'll have to wear trousers tomorrow, because the bruise continues to look seriously nasty. I even got a photo. Not a pretty sight to be sure.

So yes, apologies for the short entry syndrome, so off I go.

10:31pm: With a horribly epic one...I managed to bash the front of my leg just above the ankle against my red cube and there's a huge bruise on it now. It's not a pretty sight let me tell you.

However, Mum and I did get the cube shelf over to the new place and I got just about all my books over as well! How exciting! Also the handyman guy met me there to discussing the building of the 'shell' around the crate rack things.

Plus, this morning with Mrs S went pretty well, although we ended up having to rush towards the end so she didn't get to have her coffee. Fail.

In other news, I didn't get around to calling Ku-Ring-Gai Council, although Mum thinks I shouldn't got for the full-time position because it wouldn't really be fair to Pittwater Council. I suppose she's got a point...although M worked at Gordon Library (the library in question) way back when so I thought that could be a bit of an in if I get an interview.

Also I may have jumped the gun on my hope that the analogue to digital converter would arrive today, apparently it's still waiting in at the depot. Man, why do they always do that? I hope it comes soon.

Anyway, sorry about the short entry, but I'm sleepy from having got up so early so I shall wrap this up here!

10:58pm: If you're wearing a dress...and have chubby thighs like me.

Alas yes, I have suffered an (admittedly) mild case of my heat rash. D: I could feel it developing about an hour into my trip into the city but there wasn't anything I could do about it, short of sticking my dress between my legs like the world's worst pair of pants.

And to add insult to injury, neither of the comic book shops even had the BTTF comic! I might as well have not gone, which certainly would have saved me the trouble. I'm a little worried about what will happen tomorrow, it's supposed to be hot so I want to wear a dress to work at the library, but what if I'm still sore? I tried putting on some shorts, but that doesn't really help.

Buggeeeer.

Oh well, I do have good news though! I got to see the giant book and have my photo with it! And that's the dress I made :OD Is it just me though or am I looking a little plump...damn cheese. :OP

And I got caught up watching the tennis - Fed-Ex played Joko in the semi's at the Aussie Open...and lost! Awww, so sad! Then Henri LeConte the funniest man in tennis was/is playing a Fast4 mixed doubles match and I was busy laughing at that.

However, my eyeballs are sore along with my thighs so I'm gonna cut this entry short and hit the hay. Tomorrow is gonna be busy...

Wish me luck!

10:41pm: I don't know if it was because I had to get up early - although I did go to bed earlier to compensate - but this morning I felt really nauseous, like really gross. Except that I didn't really hit me until I was driving to work at which point I realised I didn't have my mobile phone so I couldn't call my mother for support or even Mrs. S to say I couldn't come. So instead I had to keep driving, but alas I ended up in the midst of a full-blown panic attack. It's been a really long time since I've had one and it got pretty bad, so bad I ended up scratching myself, ugh, and I've been so good about that! It looks rather nasty, but it should clear up by the Halloween Party at least.

Like I said though, I have no idea what brought it on...although looking at my app, I see I'm about a week from that dreaded time o' the month. I'm starting to think I'm getting some hardcore PMS or something, I seem to recall feeling pretty gross a week out last month and maybe even the month before that. I should probably look into that...

Anyway, I managed to survive work and felt quite a bit better by the end of it, or at least by the time I popped back home to get my mobile, so I was able to go to Gilmour Shoes to exchange the black shoes from yesterday for red ones that are a bit bigger. LOL, they're pretty much Pope shoes.

Then it was off to the gym where I did my work out and then to the shops were I made some purchases including a watermelon, niiice - although I haven't had any yet, bit too late now alas.

Moving on...the dress. I'm a little worried because tonight I finished butting the bias tape on, reattaching the zip, hemming the skirt before trying to attach both pieces together with a temporary stitch. And...I'm a bit concerned, for one thing...the bodice is kind of too long and I'm not sure if I should risk cutting it or just leave it as is - the problem with that is the boning is a bit too long as well and it's poking me a bit.

Also, I think maybe the fabric has stretched a bit because the bodice seems a little loose, looser than when I put it on a few days ago. Weird...

I took a picture, but it's kind of blurry since the lighting in my bedroom isn't good, so I won't show you it.

I sure wish I could figure out how to make it fitted...I thought the boning would help with that, but it doesn't seem to have done so.

Well, not sure if I'll be able to do much with it tomorrow because I've got a two hour shift at the Warringah Mall Library tomorrow (nice!) plus I have to apply for the job there (don't forget!)

Anyway, it's getting late, so I better head off now and get my zzzs.

Wish me luck tomorrow!

11:11pm: The bodice that is...I've been working on getting it to fit me, and it certainly seems I was overly conservative in my hem allowance this time, it seems to be properly fitted now, but I've taken it in a lot and am worried that it might end up being too much. I'd hate to do the machine sewing just to find the damn thing won't fit or will break apart when I put it on. Ah well, what can you do?

Anyway! Today was Mum's birthday, and as I mentioned yesterday we all (sans Aunt Weed) got together at M and Grandpa's place for a Chinese dinner. I made cupcakes for dessert, to Mum's specification - except that I forgot she wanted butterfly cupcakes, so when I cut a hole in the top of the cupcakes I ate the bit I cut out instead of cutting it in half and sticking it on top! LOL whoops!

I ended up not needing to pick up the little bro, which was a good thing because I left the making of Mum's birthday card and Dad's Father's Day card to the last second and was still finishing them off when Mum called to say she could pick him up instead. I ended up taking him home afterwards, or at least to the Woolies. I assume he got home after that.

Anyway, it was good eating indeed! :O) Complete with honey chicken as promised, there was some left over actually so I'll be having it tomorrow.

Speaking of tomorrow, my friend finally got back to me re: the party although...not about the time! Well except to say it's til late - which might have meant I could have gone to church after all. Whoops. Oh well, I've been looking for backup, especially since my parents play at their church once a month and I'd like to go along and help them - they play the good hymns after all! ;O)

The party tomorrow has an 80s theme...which is a bit of a problem, I don't think I have anything that's 80s themes. Although...I do have that pink dress that I got from the Neutral Bay Vinnies, my first thought was that it looked like something Marilyn Monroe would wear, but shorter so maybe it'll work? Plus I do have this hair chalk...coloured streaks were big in the 80s right?

What else to report? Not much, which is a good thing since it's almost quarter to midnight and I still have to get up at 9am so I can get my laundry done. I need to figure out if I'm going skating tomorrow or not, hmmm, decisions decisions.

Before I go, I'm relieved to report my coccyx area has finally stopped hurting when I sit down - well except for the odd twinge. Must have been the way I was sitting after all! Man I get the weirdest injuries I swear.

And on that note I shall be off!

Spotted!

Sep. 1st, 2015 11:29 pm
anonymoose_au: (Pinkie Pie Bounce!)
10:36pm: Very exciting news! Today I took Mrs S's mother to the Super Centre to buy the fake cactus arrangement and I took the opportunity to go to Spotlight, with the idea of finding some iron-on dots for the costume. Mrs. S suggested it, except there's no such thing! However, as I was browsing the many, many, many rolls of fabric I came across just what I was looking for! Tulle with tiny spots! :OD The only annoying thing was...it must have been there all along, and I spent like $20 on the other spotted tulle. Booo!

Oh well, water under the bridge, the important thing is, I got it! Just what I needed! The BTTF Gods are looking down on me. I also took the opportunity to go back to Lincraft after I went to the gym to get some more pink fabric - it's only $2 a metre since I figured I'd need to make another bodice.

Which I have since done...I think I've done a better job this time around too. I haven't taken a picture of it yet, but I'll get onto that tomorrow. I'm sure you're all looking forward to it!

In news not as good, I've been having this weird pain in the butt whenever I sit down. It's been happening for the past two days and as you can imagine it's rather uncomfortable. I can't figure out what could be behind it, I don't remember sitting down for any longer than usual. Unless...it's the chair I'm sitting in while sewing. Damn, I don't need that crap. Also, embarrassing! Why am I always injuring myself in such ways? Is there a word to describe this sort of thing? :OP

Moving on from that...let's finish up on those Memes before heading off to bed, shall we?

9:26pm: Because it's made me worried about my waist circumference (my BMI is fine, but that can be sort of dodgy) and uhoh, it's not too good. In fact it's periliously close to the high danger category - unless I've measured wrong. Dang, how concerning. I thought I was looking a little rotund in the gut area, guess I'll have to keep up the squats at the gym! And keep away from the Nutella...again (that bastard).

Speaking of the gym, I meant to go today, my abdomen was being a jerk so I didn't, which is rather annoying seeing as I took my gym bag with me. But it was also library volunteer day and I was all out of steam by the end of that, I tell you some of those Home Library Service clients make it hard...like people who want 20 books each time. Man, some people read a lot!

However! I did manage to go to the hardware shop and get some sandpaper for my bathroom vanity - a couple of weeks ago I put my straightner on it in the incorrect manner and it melted some of it leaving a rather sharp point. As you can imagine this makes wiping it clean with the sponge hard to do because it gets caught. Long story short, I explained this to the hardware shop guy who got me the right grade of sandpaper and now it's no longer a hazard.

I mopped the floor this morning before leaving, as I promised Mum I would, so go me, except I kind of left it a bit late and thus ended up missing the bus, which kind of stressed me out a bit even though I have the car and drove that. But you know, I had things all planned out in my brain etc.

And I burned the top of my mouth eating dinner, ow...why I gotta do this to myself? Fail.

What else to report? Well, the Fed-Ex is up against Murray in the semi-final of Wimbledon, will the Fed continue to be awesome? Will Murray make Britain proud? I hope for Roger! This is the 10th time he's been in a Wimbledon semi, and if he gets to the final it could be an 8th Wimbledon title for the Fabulous Fed.

Now, the new Embarrassing Bodies is on so I shall be off to watch that! :O) Tomorrow is the pyschiatrist appointment so I need to get to bed at a reasonable hour so I get enough zzzzs.

Wish me luck, then!

Goodnight all!

PS. Oh wait, I've checked it out and it turns out I was measuring the wrong way, no need to panic people, remain calm! :O)

9:54pm: When you don't actually know what foot you injured...

No seriously...I can't remember anymore if I twisted my right ankle or my left one...the left one has certainly been bothering me more and thinking hard maybe it was that one. But I'm sure at the time I said right ankle on Plurk. Man, I fail.

This all arose because I went to the gym today and while I was fine on the bike, when I got on the strider my left ankle started hurting and I had to cut my time on that to 8 minutes in the end! Which makes me wonder what I should do tomorrow...Wednesday is usually gym day, but I dunno.

Before I went to the gym though, I went to Manly because I wanted to borrow a English-Russian/Russian-English dictionary (for figure skating reasons :OP) and while there I came across a book called Russian for Absolute Beginners so I decided what the Hell, and picked that up. Not sure how I'll go with that, I'll keep you posted.

I did actually find a Russian-English dictionary for five bucks at the Manly Salvos, but without the English-Russian part I'm not sure how useful it will be to me. Plus it was quite large...

In other news, I have to go into work half an hour earlier than usual tomorrow, so I better not dilly-dally on this entry for too much longer, instead let's catch up with the last meme!

10:33pm: As you can assume from the subject heading there there was no ice skating...there wasn't even gym going. My ankle wasn't horribly painful or anything, but it was definitely sore and I didn't want to risk it. I finally got around to finding the brace I bought last year when I managed to twist my ankle during the first week at TAFE and putting it on. I hope it works, because tomorrow is a day with Mrs S that involves a lot kneeling down and getting up, plus I'm going to the library tomorrow too. So I don't need these kinds of shenanigans.

So today was a pretty lazy day, I barely went outside except to get my clothes and flannel sheets down from the washing line - the sky looked a bit threatening out there, but as far as I can tell there was no rain.

Anyway, it's getting late so I better do some Memes and run:

Friday5

Vinegar and Brown Paper

1. What kinds of vinegar do you have in your pantry? Hmmm, I don't think I have any...which is a shame because apparently that's what you use to catch flies.

2. What was the last purchase you made that was carried home in a brown paper bag? We don't really have brown paper bags here in Australia...

3. What home remedies do you swear by? Well, it's been a while, but gargling with warm salt water is a great way to soothe a sore throat.

4. How many Jacks and Jills do you know? One Jill at the Library, but no Jacks as far as I can recall.

5. How would you rate your gift-wrapping skills? Hmm, out of 10? About a 6, I'm pretty good at wrapping though certainly not to the level of my mother!

The (Other) Friday Five

These questions were written by anais_pf on LJ.

1. What is your favorite poem? Can you recite part of it from memory? Uh...hmm, I don't think I have a favourite poem to be honest, poems aren't really my bag.

2. What is your favorite work of visual art? Can you sketch some of it from memory? Man, that's even harder! I like a lot of paintings and what not! I'm kind of drawing a blank here, hate it when this happens. But I don't think I could sketch it very well!

3. What is your favorite piece of music? Can you sing or hum any of it from memory? Bonus points if you can sing a line of harmony from it. I like lots of pieces of music! I tend to be able to sing them or hear them in my head, but I'm completely tone death and a shithouse singer so I'm not gonna get those bonus points. :OP But I do love any song by The Corrs.

4. What is your favorite dance form? Can you dance it yourself, however badly, or is it something for which you are mostly a spectator? I do love tango! :OD And no I sincerely doubt I could dance one due to a lack of rhythm and flexibility. But as a spectator I'd be happy to be that!

5. What is your favorite work of literature? Have you committed any of it to memory? Like ever? I do love the Adrian Mole books, which I haven't really committed to memory in that I could quote passages from it, but I could give you a good rundown.

Saturday 9

:Harper Valley PTA (1968):

1) This week's featured artist uses her middle initial (C. for Carolyn) all the time. Do you use your middle initial very often? No not really.

2) In this song, a mother tells off the local PTA. What's the most recent school event you attended -- whether as a parent, a teacher or a student? Uh...it's been a while...I went to my high school's Open Day a few years back? Does that count? Man, they'd made a lot of changes in the place.

3) The lyrics reference the mom's miniskirts, which were trendy in the 1960s. The website Popsugar reports that gingham checks are trendy for 2015. Tell us about the most recent addition to your wardrobe. Umm...a pair of jeans I bought at the Salvation Army, a fashion plate I am not!

4) Thinking of moms, Access Hollywood named Carol Brady of The Brady Bunch TV's #1 mom. Who is your favorite TV mom? Marge Simpson.

5) Mother Winters always gave Sam peppermint tea to calm her stomach. Do you have any tried-and-true home remedies to share? See answer in Friday5 meme :OP

6) Sam's mother always tips 15% in restaurants. Sam has worked in food service and is more judgmental, tipping between 10% and 25%, depending on the quality of the service. What's your tipping policy? Are you more like Sam or her mother? In Australia we actually have a livable minimum wage, hence tipping is not an expected thing. If the service is really good and I'm not out of money I'll chip in with a dollar or two with my friends.

7) When the tip of her shoelace becomes frayed, Sam's mother snips off the end and then paints the tip with clear nail polish. Good as new! Sam thinks that's crazy because you can just buy new laces for less than $2. Are you more frugal like mother or spendthrift like daughter? Ooo, that's a great idea! Also $2 new shoe laces may be you have to stuff around with relacing your shoes which can take quite a while, better to leave them in situ and use a quick and easy fix.

8) Mother Winters loves how french vanilla smells and burns her Yankee Candles all year around. Do you use scented candles or air fresheners? Nah, they tend to irritate my nose.

9) Sam is celebrating Mother's Day with her mother's favorite, Hershey Bars. Would you prefer classic milk chocolate, dark chocolate or chocolate with almonds? I don't think I've ever had a Hershey Bar though they are available in Australia, I prefer Cadbury though.

Right, time for me to hit the hay! The Sunday Memes will occur tomorrow. Wish me luck tomorrow!

I bid you all goodnight!

10:11pm: I always think that whenever I'm watching a crime doco and the narrator or person they're interviewing says something really obvious like "We used luminol, it makes cleaned up blood show up" or "We'll use the blood to get DNA", it's like no shit. But...I suppose we've all got to start somewhere in our crime doco viewing.

In other news, work went pretty well today, although I've discovered I have a bruise on my arm in a very weird location. I think it was from hitting myself on the screen door of the lady I'm working for's house. Damn screen doors, they've had it out for me lately, the bruise I got from my parent's screen door has only just gone away!

Anyway, the point is, I am feeling more confident in the role, which is good, although I didn't do as well with the slide sheet today, apparently I'm doing too much pushing/lifting with the non-sheet-pulling-arm, which is not good. Also, I'm going to try wearing shorts tomorrow because I'm having an issue with sweating like a pig. Gross, I know, but not only is there the exertion of moving a person around, there's also the fact that it gets as hot as a sauna in the bathroom during the showering. My only concern is on toilet-assisting days I have to kneel on the floor - the other carers squat, but I can't squat for more than like five seconds without toppling over so I gotta kneel. I hope my knees won't hate me forever...

And, do I have anything more to say? Well, I went to the gym today, good times, good times. I added wrist stengthening exercises to my repitoire since I really do need to get some strength in them.

I also went to Aldi to get some food, and I got a fabulous green watch for four bucks! I hope it lasts for a while and doesn't fall apart or anything, but what a good deal! :OD

And I forgot to do one meme yesterday, so here it is!

Unconscious Mutterings

I say ... and you think ... ?

1. Tripple :: Is this a word?

2. Rationing :: World War II

3. Wrong :: Right

4. Mother :: Father

5. Lotion :: Skin

6. Hesitate :: Um...er...

7. Home :: is where the heart is

8. Stumble :: Fall

9. Procedure :: Instructions

10. Faithless :: Mean

And that's pretty much all I have to say for now, incidentally I won't be working on Wednesday and Thursday for this week because the carer I'm set to replace hasn't left yet and the lady - who I'll call Mrs S is doing something important on those two days and needs to get ready quickly and efficiently! Which means I can move my appointment for the Job Centre, funny how things work out.

And now I'm off!

Goodnight all!

Hmmm...

Jan. 18th, 2015 11:46 pm

11:25pm: Don't have much to say, although it was a busy day! N in the main house needed to turn of the modem for a few hours so at around 11:30 I went out to go to the gym. Except...I managed to forgot the bus timetable for Sunday and thus missed the bus that goes from around the corner, so had to walk back around to the other bus stop and wait for 20 minutes for my usual bus to come. I was a bit worried about standing out there in sun, but I had a shirt on and found a spot of shade so I was good.

I finally got on the bus where I got a phone call, Mum and Dad had a get-together this morning with the maternal side of the family and my little brother was there helping with the cooking and what not. However, he was going to leave soon and had called to see if I was coming by. I'd thought about doing so, but had decided not to, seems they'd been expecting me! So a quick change of plans and going to the gym was delayed as I got off the bus at Dee Why and my little bro came to get me.

I got a great lunch - complete with a trifle for dessert! - out of it and got to see my cousin Mack, who I didn't see at Christmas because he and his parents had been away, so that was good. I didn't even need to do that much cleaning up (which is usual why I'm invited to these events :OP), I did though have to take the recycling down to the bin and while doing so I somehow banged my arm into the side of the door right on the lock pin and now there's a bruise. Do'h!

After the get-together and clean up wrapped up I got the bus to the gym and got physical! Although I may have overdone it a bit, trying to lift a bit too much weight - since I haven't gone in a while - so now my elbows feel oddly sore. Hopefully, this won't translate into that weird pain you sometimes get when you're first working out.

Once I finished with that - although no swimming - I went to the supermarket to get some things including a new battery for the smoke alarm and light bulbs, but yet again I was unaware of the different times the bus runs on Sunday and missed the bus that goes right past my flat. Do'h! Had to get the one that stops around the corner instead. Lucky for me the weather was much cooler today! In fact, tonight with my doors open I could turn off the air-con!

And on that note, I should wrap this up, working out has made me tired and I have an all important job to apply for tomorrow!

Goodnight all!

11:47pm: It's really hard to say, it doesn't quite sound like thunder, but then who would be setting off fireworks on 1st January? Except someone who's got a really slow clock, LOL.

Although I've just seen flashes from my spot on the couch, so maybe it is thunder.

Not much to report for today, I literally sat on my ass all day, except when I was getting up to get food. Which makes the sleepiness I'm feeling right now a bit odd, but I guess if you're too lazy it can have the wrong kind of impact.

Anyway, my brain is working very slowly, but I thought I would update just to let you all know I haven't uploaded those videos of the fireworks (fail!), but that my leg muscles aren't too sore after all the walking around I did last night with my friend. I do however have a rather large bruise on right shin from where I kicked myself getting a leg up from my friend last night - we sat on a ledge to get a good vantage point of the fireworks.

And now, I best get myself to bed, I need to figure out what to do tomorrow re: my bus ticket turns out unemployed people can't get Opal cards yet anyway, rude.

But despite all that it's been a pretty good start to the year, and now I bid you all goodnight!

10:57pm: Indeed, it's Homes Under the Hammer time and I think I may have seen this one, but I don't really remember it, so I'm watching. There's a house on here that has no shower or bath facilities, WTF? I mean it's got a toilet - which is more than I was expecting when they said on the intro there was "No bathroom". But seriously, what did the people who used to live in there do to clean themselves? Use a bucket of water? This takes place in England, so in the winter that would soooo not be happening! I don't know if they ever answer the question about the lack of cleaning facilities...I'd sure like to know why though!

In other news, today I went over to the parental units to assist somewhat with the Christmas party they had with the paternal side of the family. I was kind of hoping I wouldn't end up having to do too much clearing away and 'waiter' type duties, but leave it to Mum. :OP

However, she did drop me off back here after the lunch wound up so I was able to give her the bag I've packed for the graduation ceremony on Wednesday (uuuuh, still concerned about that) so that's one thing taken care of. I also went to the gym, the bus coming by not long after I handed the bag over to Mum, actually I'm surprised the bus driver pulled over for me. How nice! What was not so nice was how I while I was running to it I twisted my ankle a bit, ow! I didn't fall down, but it's still sore and I'm really hoping it won't get any worse.

Also, of concern, while at the gym I got a headache as well as a general since of nausea, I ended up taking an ibuprofen, which got rid of the headache and thankfully the nausea, but now my lower abdominal region has just decided to be an asshole and hurt, more ow. Maybe I should bite the bullet and take a buscopan, I don't like to take too many of those because I think my body can get used to them and they stop working. But yeah it's getting quite unpleasant right now.

Moving along, it's still Meme Catch-Up time so let's bring that on!

Saturday and the Unconcious Mutterings! )

Phew! So I'm mostly caught up on Memes now, hooray!

10:25pm: I'm not having the best of luck right now, witness this morning I was walking to the bus stop when suddenly I fell to the ground in terrible pain, there was a rut in the ground near the bus stop I'd never seen before and I'd twisted my ankle on it! Fuuuuck! I was scared for a moment because I thought I felt a crack, but I was able to get to my feet and put weight on it. However, I wasn't sure what to do, I briefly considered going back to the Granny Flat, but the bus was literally pulling up! So I got on it...

I called Mum on the phone, but all she could suggest was going to the pharmacist to get a compression bandage and go to the doctor's after TAFE if it got worse. I ended up getting out at Dee Why though, because there were a few shocks of pain that made me feel kind of light headed, unfortunately the Medical Centre I went to didn't even have any appointments available until 1:45! Which was pretty useless, so I headed back to the bus stop and got the next bus to the Mall.

I did pop into a chemist as I went through the Mall, but the compression bandages were all quite expensive and the person I spoke to thought that I'd probably be OK if I just kept my shoe on. So I continued onto the TAFE, although it's rather hard putting your foot up in a classroom, and while it doesn't hurt much if I keep it still walking around causes pain. After finishing up at TAFE I decided to buy the compression bandage and then headed home, however, I did take the bus that stops around the corner and up the hill, which might not have been the best idea. I have kept my leg elevated since getting home, and kept the bandage on. I don't really have any ice packs or whatever, I used some old frozen bread for a bit, but yeah, not sure if that's done any good.

I sure hope the stuff I have done works, apart from anything else I'm worried about what I'll do if my ankle's still really sore on Thursday, I won't be able to wear decent shoes for my interview...Although, there is a special on Homeyped shoes at the Chemist I went to...maybe I can find something nice there.

In other news...Le Tour is getting rather crazy, yet another well-known rider Albert Contador has had to pull out! On top of the two British riders last week and some other guy. I don't recall sooo many front-runners for the race not making it all the way through. What have they put on the roads in France this year? And Yorkshire for that matter.

They've got a week in review thing going on with some of the drivers in the team cars, I have to say one of those guys shouldn't be driving, he wasn't even watching the road! Yikes! But then it is France :OP there's some terrible drivers there.

And it seems ibprofen is the key, because I did start getting a bit of a headache this evening and took two of those and that cleared it up.

And on a final note, I made delicious lasagna tonight, although I ended up eating it later than epected because I managed to turn the wrong knob on my oven-stove and so the stove turned on instead of the oven! But yeah, it all worked out...so now I have something nice to eat for lunch tomorrow too.

On that note, I better get to bed, keep myself well rested and all that jazz.

Wish me luck tomorrow! Goodnight all!

10:39pm: What is this crap, I'm having to type without out because it hurts when I move it to press the spacebar. This is irritating...hmmm, well, I need to go to the medical centre and pharmacy to show them my new Low Income Health Card, maybe I should make an appointment or something? I'm not sure if they bulk-bill on the weekend though, I had a piece of paper with that info on it, but I'm not sure where it's at now.

But seriously this is a problem, because I'm supposed to be applying to all those jobs and it's kind of hard to do cover letters when you can't type properly.

I still wish I knew what I did too it, I can't think of anything that would have caused it, and if it is overuse I'm still stumped, because even though I'm on the laptop quite a bit I don't generally need to use my thumb.

So yeah, I did manage to apply for one job, sooo um...not much to report aside from that, although I did my laundry too, which proved to be a bit of annoyance because I wanted to put my clothes drying rack out in the sun, but I can't get both the double screen doors to open and it's a wide clothes rack. Not too difficult to get it out, but bringing it back in...half my clothes ended up on the floor. Pft. But everything is OK.

In other news, I need to make some time to play The Sims 3, I bought that expansion pack and I want to try it out! Although the thumb thing makes that pretty hard to do too. Hmpf, hopeless. And I saw yet another trailer for Sims 4, why they gotta make that so tempting too!

And finally, Supanova is this weekend! And I'm in no position to go, which sucks quite a bit because I didn't really get to give my Pinkie Pie cosplay a real outing last year, but...what can you do. Wait for someone to throw a Halloween Party I guess? :O)

And...the Memes will have to wait until I figure out about this thumb thing, so for now I'll bid you goodnight!
