10:35pm: To make a start on (yes, a dreaded) this assignment about conversations, primarily because it's just occurred to me I really don't have a lot of conversations...at least not verbally. This is kind of awkward, because now I'm gonna have to make some shit up. But really in order
not to make crap up you really would have to take notes while conversing or just after you finished so you don't forget things which kind of makes it a bit unnatural.
So yeah, I tried to make a start on that tonight, but...er...I failed. :OP Gotta do something tomorrow though, I was thinking of going to the library until I remembered that it'll be closed tomorrow because it's a public holiday. Damn. Gotta discipline myself!
Anyway, in other news, M won the Canasta game this morning! Even though she was a bit dizzy from this new medication (well, she's going to taper off on taking it because it's not working very well), she still managed to take me down! We started another game, but that remains unfinished and inducement to go back - not that I need one, but you know.
Also Grandpa got me in for lunch, which was a roast pork dinner and a chocolate pudding thing, ooo so delicious! :OD However I somehow managed to miss my bus back to the flat despite the fact it was more than 15 mins late! I got complacent and left too late, arriving within eyeshot of the bus stop just in time to see the bus whizz past. It would be almost another hour before the next one came, so I decided fuck it and walked home. Which didn't take long, but it was bloody hot today (up to 30 degrees C!) so that might not have been the wisest idea. I don't appear to be sunburned or anything so I guess I'll live.
Although after that I couldn't be bothered to go out to do some food shopping or go to the gym, hmpf, come on me get it together! On the plus side, the pool reopens on Tuesday so I'll be able to go swimming!
Annnd to wrap this up, Meme time!
Follow Friday Four Fill-InsThe statements:1. During thunder storms
, I get a little frightened!
2. While I like walking
, I wouldn’t want to be in a marathon!
3. Reading while walking
, is probably not the best idea, but I did it today with no tripping over!
4. Why would anyone work at a cigarette company? I pray I'd never be that desperate! D:
Friday5Rebel, Rebel1. In what ways have you rebelled against your upbringing? Uhh...I guess not having a significant other or even any dates. Mum used to encourage me to go on some, but I'm not interested in those sheninigans and she gave up on that. LOL.
2. In what ways have you rebelled against your schooling? I got nothin' I'm a good student! Unless you'd count half-assing some assignments, but who hasn't done that?
3. In what ways have you rebelled against American culture? Well, I'm Australian so...
4. Is it possible to rebel against yourself? Well, I have tried to stand up to my anxiety and push myself outside my comfort zone, so maybe that counts? Or anxiety itself is trying to rebel against me, but I ain't havin' it!
5. What’s your favorite song about rebellion? Well I do like that song that goes "With a rebel yell, she goes more, more, more! In the midnight hour she yells more, more, more." Or something like that.
Saturday 9:Rubber Ducky (1970):1) This song is sung by Muppet Ernie. Who's your favorite Muppet? Well I do like Ernie a lot, but I've also really liked Grover for some reason. And the Count, ha ha ha ha!
2) Ernie became famous on PBS's Sesame Street. What public television shows do you watch? Well, we've got quite a few public television shows on the ABC, including
Sesame Street. Although we also get a lot of US and British shows. My favourite Aussie made shows are
Million Dollar Minute and
Mad As Hell. Unless you mean like totally public access shows, because I don't watch that channel, it's just too hokey, LOL.
3) When you were a little kid, what was your favorite TV show? I was a huge fan of
Inspector Gadget, good times, good times.
4) On Sesame Street, Ernie frequently teases his best friend Bert by stealing his nose. Do you enjoy practical jokes? LOL, Bert...And no not a fan of practical jokes, I prefer puns and the like.
5) Sesame Street creators developed carefree Ernie and serious Bert to show children that different types of people can be good friends. Think about your closest friend. Tell us how you two differ. Awww, that's sweet! As for me and my closest friends, well they're all quite a bit less silly than me. :OP
6) Bert and Ernie share a basement apartment on Sesame Street. Tell us about the basement of the building you're in right now. Really? I never knew that. And there's no basement where I am, the one at the apartment is the underground garage for parking, as a rule Australian houses don't have basements.
7) Ernie and Bert were created by Jim Henson. In addition to being an accomplished puppeteer, Mr. Henson was also a talented cartoonist. Can you draw? I can! I'm not super-talented or anything, I certainly suck when it comes to trying to shade stuff, sigh. But I enjoy it!
8) Jim Henson made his first puppets himself using felt, foam rubber, string and rods -- all items that can be purchased at an arts and crafts store. When is the last time you shopped in an arts and crafts store? A few months ago when I got some stuff for my Plushy plushy. Cuddles said plushy!
9) When is the last time you took a bath (as opposed to a shower)? Uh...wow, probably six months or something, I don't have a bath at either the Granny flat or apartment and now that my parents have moved there's no bath at their house either. Guess bathtime is over for me!
Saturday Six1. Who was your favorite teacher from elementary through high school and why? Man, that's a tough one because there were quite a few of them, especially in high school with all the different subjects. But I'll always have a soft spot for Miss Jones my Year Five teacher who encouraged me in my writing. Thanks, Miss Jones!
2. Overall, did you tend to get along well with teachers, not get along, or somewhere in the middle.? Ha ha, I'm such a teacher's pet, I was like the only person who got on with English teacher in Year 11 and 12. Everyone seemed to think she was a huge bitch, but I thought she was great!
3. Think of the various subjects you studied and the teachers who taught those subjects: overall, which subject (or department) do you think had the most teachers who knew their subject matter well enough to teach it effectively? Uh, well I went to a private school which could afford to hire very good teachers, I don't recall any that couldn't teach their subject, except for perhaps one particular teacher, it wasn't her lack of knowledge it was her ability to keep the classroom in order. It was pretty sad really eventually she left and we ended up with a substitute for the rest of the year!
4. Which subject or department had the fewest teachers who you felt knew the subject matter well enough to teach it effectively? Oh...well, see above. Although the PE Department had the most unsympathetic teachers, who had us swimming in the freezing outdoor pool while they were wearing padded coats and telling us "Oh it's not so cold."
5. How many teachers have you kept in touch with since you graduated from high school? None alas, which is a shame, but Facebook wasn't that big back then so yeah. They probably wouldn't want to keep in contact with students anyway, LOL!
6. How many teachers have you not kept in touch with but would like to speak to again? Ooo quite a few, as I said I liked most of my teachers and would like to know what they're up to... The only one I saw with any regularity funnily enough was an old science teacher who worked out at the same gym I used to. He must have been younger than I thought because he'd be like 80 now if I'd been correct in my assumption!
Sunday StealingRandom 201. Have you had an argument with anyone recently? If so, do you still have issues with that person? Nah, my last argument was with my parents and we forgave each other a while back. :OP
2. Are you talking to anyone while filling this in? How about texting/chatting on Facebook? Nope, I am watching
Homes Under the Hammer though.
3. Have you done something recently that helped someone else, in any way? Well, I did some ironing for my granparents today, and hung out some clothes for Mum's friend in the main house.
4. Who was the last person to pay you a compliment? Uh...M probably.
5. Is there anything that’s happened in the past month, that you wish you could go back in time and change? Well, I sure wish I had got an interview for the library job, give me a chance you bastards!
6. What colour is your purse/wallet? Black.
7. What’s the closest item to you that’s black? The remote controls for the TV and
Foxtel or even my laptop.
8. Think about what you looked like 5 years ago. How did you look different, compared to the way you look now? Haha no, I look exactly the same.
Exactly.
9. Before Facebook became popular, did you use any other social networking site, like Bebo or Myspace? I used LJ, good times, good times, not as busy there these days though, boo.
10. Has someone of the opposite sex ever sung to you? If so, how did you respond to it? LOL whut? No. And I guess it'd depend if they were any good or not.
11. When did you last hug someone of the opposite sex? Not including relatives, my friend Ben a few weeks ago.
12. Have you ever seen the film “Casablanca”? Did you like it? Nope, not really my bag.
13. Do you have a relative whose name begins with ‘L’? Tell me about him/her. Well there's my father's older sister, Lorraine. I don't see her much, but she's quite nice and after Grandma died she seemed to have inherited the collection of birthday cards with eeriely accurate pictures of the recipient on the front of them. Because my father married at a much later age, her children were a lot older than me and my brothers so we didn't see them much.
14. Are you a secretive person? Nope, I'm pretty much an open book.
15. When did you last eat? Uh, I had some
Eton crackers twenty minutes ago or something.
16. If you were going to buy a present for a special person, what would you generally choose? I suck at picking out gifts, I'd probably get 'em a gift card. I would make them a nice card though!
17. If I’m going to buy you a box of chocolates, which kind should I definitely NOT get? Mint ones...or ones with nuts in them, I don't like either.
18. Is there something you generally always ask for help with? Uh...pretty much everything :OP But in all seriousness, probably big life decisions, I suck at making those.
19. If you had to give up your phone or your computer, which would it be? See ya later phone!
20. Has anyone called you gorgeous/beautiful today? Aside from myself Nope.
Unconcious MutteringsI say ... and you think ... ?1. Candle light :: Dinner
2. Kevin :: '07 (His slogan when he was first trying to become Prime Minister)
3. Fireplace :: Logs
4. Pots :: and pans
5. Scarf :: Russia (I've been watching the anime
Hetalia LOL)
6. Colossal :: X-Men (although it is Colossus, close enough)
7. Golf :: Ball
8. Construction :: Site
9. Reason :: Give me a... (It's a Corrs song)
10. Washington :: Monument
Phew! Can't believe I managed to get all those done! Now I must wrap up and get ready for bed, Daylight Savings kicked in so I got up "earlier" than usual and I shouldn't stay up too late!
And now I say, goodnight!
