9:36pm: Indeed so, despite knowing that I needed to get up early this morning because a handyman was coming over to put up the second hand shelving system Mum and I bought off Gumtree I stayed up too late last night and as a result, got less than 7 hours sleep last night.

I, however, am a person who needs closer to 8 hours to function well, so all day today I've felt very off indeed, in the middle of the day I got a headache and stomachache - right when Mum came to pick me up so we could go shopping for some new stuff for the apartment - and the rest of the time I was having trouble remembering words! Pretty much everything was just a "thingo" or "that over there", man I hope I never get Alzhemeiers, because losing one's words sucks.

Anyway, I survived the shopping trip and picked up a new coverlet and European pillow cases for my bed (so I'll be cycling from Pusheen to "I'm a grown up" now LOL. Apart from the coverlet and pillow cases, which are in a lovely mint green, I also got two new pillows, which...I'm not actually going to use, because they're mostly for show, which seems weird so maybe I will get round to using them eventually.

Anyway, here's the bed in it's "I'm an adult" mode - although I must say Mum picked a bad angle because my butt sure looks big there :OP

But the really exciting thing is not the bed, but shelving unit! It was really awesome when I came across it on Gumtree for only $350, it's an Elfa and buying it new would cost upwards of $1000! Mum and I went out on Thursday after work to pick it up from the other side of the Bridge, which took a while because the owner's daughter got held up. Although, I did get a nice Chinese dinner with Mum, so that was cool.

Then yesterday, our new handyman came over to put them up, but unfortunately, he doesn't have much experience putting up things on walls and he couldn't find metal studs in the wall of the Wintergarden. Not with the stud finder, not even with drilling small exploratory holes in the wall. Which was a huge blow, because Mum and I can hardly put up the shelves ourselves! He suggested I use Airtasker - which I have heard of - to find someone (since the Elfa guy who used to work for Howard's Storage World at the Mall no longer works there) who had more experience putting up these shelving units. Which proved to be a very good idea, although the guy I got couldn't come until today.

Our other handyman did put up my vacuum cleaner - it's one of those cordfree ones you put in a charger when not using, which was good. Later on the electrician came and put up the heater towel rail up in the bathroom, it's looking pretty fab I must say. Plus now I have a warm towel, although I don't really need it in the summertime.

So yes, the AirTasker man came today just after 8:30am, with Mum arriving at the same time and at first he couldn't figure out where the wall studs were either! At that point I was very bummed out and put my head in my hands which concerned the handyman, poor guy! Mum told me to remain calm, and she was sure there would be a way to put it up.

And indeed there was! Seems the gyprock wall is exceptionally thick, but there were studs in there and soon enough the shelving unit was up, the man was paid and I was able to take most of the books out of my storage wardrobes and put them up.

Oh! And I also got a new desk to put out in the Wintergarden (Mum picked it up at Fantastic Furniture) and we put it together - which was pretty neat and now...

My Wintergarden looks like this! Pretty fabulous huh? Although it is subject to change once the proper air con gets put it, plus the blinds in three of the four banks of windows.

But now I can have guests around :O) like my Uncle, Aunt and cousin, as well as Mrs S.

The first one (that isn't Mum) will be Dad, who'll come over after church tomorrow.

And a last photo - my old bed, where Mum has banished my soft toys :OP for now at least - she slept on it on Thursday night and said it wasn't so bad. So if anyone ever stays over here's where you'll sleep.

Anyway, on that note I shall be off since I need to catch up on my zzzs! Hopefully I'll update soon because I didn't mention the interview I had on Thursday for the Collections Assistant role, although it's not that thrilling :OP

For now though, goodnight!

11:37pm: That's bloody impossible to spell, although to be fair, there's a lot of Russian words like that. Spelled like it sounds my ass, man. :OP

Anyway, the Junior Grand Prix of skating is on again, although now that daylight savings has come things are happening much later, which is a pain, I'm going to miss all the men :O( Ah well I'll catch up maybe? I dunno LOL, I'm a little concerned about my bandwidth now! However! I am hoping I can keep my eyes open for the last group of pairs because our Aussies who just won a spot for the Olympics next year are competing here today! And they're in first! Fingers crossed they do well! This is their second GP, although they didn't make the podium last time.

In other news, I finally got to the new Vinnies today, it's not far from where it used to be and it looks really nice. It also means I finally dropped off that huge bag of clothes and whatnot. I hope most of it can be resold.

Then I went to the Mall and did a bit of a shopping spree...I got two new Pusheen shirts - stop bringing out cute new ones guys! - and an adorable Pusheen wooden plaque which I have to take a photo of, because it's hilarious. :OP

Then I went looking for some undergarments, I could use one more set, but I couldn't find anything, which is shame because the sales are on. Ah well.

Right I better wrap this up because I need to finish the other bit of my Russian study, I managed to spell that word at least, LOL!

Oh and I finally called my friend to arrange to come over on Sunday, since I have the day off from work. Go me :OP

11:19pm: Check out these guys! They're deep sea divers who work on gas rigs out in the North Sea and in order to do so they have to go into this special saturation chamber for the entirety of their work schedule so they can get acclimitised down there and not die. I didn't know this but you can't breath regular air down there, apparently nitrogen kills down there? So instead the mix oxygen with helium...hence everyone sounds like chipmunks.

IT'S ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO TAKE THESE GUYS SERIOUSLY!!! Like imagine if it was your first day in the control room and some guy had an emergency and you can't stop laughing. I guess you get used to it after a while, but still! Also I wonder if the divers can hear how funny they sound? Or does it eventually become normal to them and then when they come out everyone else sounds super looooow, 'cause that would be reversely amusing.

Anyway, moving on, today was a busy day! First there was work for Mrs S, then I returned my sandals to the shop and got a credit note, so I tried to find some sneakers. But I didn't find any there that caught my fancy, they've got other shops though, two in Dee Why so I'll try them tomorrow when I go to volunteer at the library.

After that I went to get some things for Mrs S from the hardware shop and then to a car shop - where I thought about getting a car cover to protect my car, but instead got some of this spray that's rain repellent, I sure hope it works!

Later on in the evening I went and picked up Mum who returned from her trip to see her friend, so it was great to see her again. :O) Also I drove past where my apartment is going to be built, it's been a few weeks since I've done so and wow they've done a lot, like demolish the whole building that was there! Nice. Except I need to bump up my savings if I'm gonna get the stamp duty!

Finally...the Australian Government apparently wants all our licence photos so they can follow us around with survillence cameras and shit. Which sounds pretty dodgy to me, I don't want the government being able to follow me around whenever they want!

Well, it's late and since I do want to go look for shoes tomorrow and have to work at the Mona Vale Library tomorrow as well I better head to bed so I can get enough zzzs I kind of didn't last night.

Goodnight all!

11:22pm: In more ways than one, for example I'm already starting this update way too late to write as much as I want about the cruise! I have however began compiling a photo album on GooglePhotos, you can view it here! There's still quite a few photos missing though, I'm not sure why some of them haven't been saved into the Cloud - especially considering the app used up all my mobile data! Seriously! I'm most irritated about that. I thought I told the app not to upload unless I was using wi-fi. So now I have to pay extra this month, how annoying!

Anyway! Today it was back to work with Mrs S, I had a great time telling her about the cruise and showing her the photos I took. Also, the new working arrangements seem to have been sorted out now, although I do need to go for an interview with the new people, I called and left a message telling them to get back to me on that, but they didn't. I guess I'll have to give it a go tomorrow.

Right, I've let myself get distracted as usual and now I'm seriously short on time, I hope you weren't waiting with baited breath for the next installment of my cruising adventure. But hey a good writer builds suspense...or something, LOL.

After finishing with Mrs S I went to Mona Vale to get a new rainbow beach bag - and not a moment too soon, I bought the last one in the shop! I also went hunting for a swimsuit, but I've totally left it too late in the season...having said that I'm not sure any of the shops there even have swimsuits in the peak of summer. Makes me miss that swimwear shop in Dee Why, that was a good place.

Then I went shopping to get more food after the fridge disaster, although I did forget a few things, do'h! Have to fix that tomorrow. And I think I'll have to clear out the freezer too...the defrosted fish doesn't bode well.

Anywho, I better be off! Don't worry I promise I'll write more about the cruise tomorrow, in the meantime though check out the photo album, I'm quite proud of it. :O)

10:58pm: Which I gotta do again tomorrow because there was a mistake today and the nurse who was supposed to come, didn't! Bloody annoying it was too, so now I have to go in early tomorrow as well, which means I really need to get myself to bed. I didn't get enough sleep last night either and with this hot weather I've been quite scattered and a bit whiney (LOL), plus tomorrow I go to my grandparents' place which means Canasta so I have to be awake for that!

Anywho, I'm back here at the Granny Flat, fortunately the cool change has come through so the air conditioner is handling things well in here. Which is a relief! Although, the extremely hot weather is set to return on the weekend, so I'm not sure what will happen then.

Aside from that not much else to report, although I did finally go to the Mall and buy that Glide stuff that cyclists use and with the weather as hot as it was today it wasn't a moment too soon! I also got some shoes that Mrs S saw during the weekend but didn't buy.

Finally, I'm pleased to announce I managed to fit my Christmas decos on top of my second wardrobe here! This is very cool as I won't need to worry about having to get them from M and Grandpa's garage. I also bought more over the door hooks and now my bags are all nicely lined up on the back of the door to my bedroom/living room area.

The one downside of today...I was opening a drawer and pulled it too far out and it fell landing right onto of my right foot (what is it with my right foot?) and it's left a mark as well as a decidedly sore bruise. Well, at least I didn't break anything.

But no more dilly-dallying! It's off to bed!

11:21pm: Yep, I decided to just do it and purchase that boxset of Air Crash Investigation, because...just look how awesome it is! It looks like a real Black Box! :OD

It has 36 DVDs in it, in 14 cases (covering the 14 seasons of the show), of course as I might have mentioned yesterday the show is actually still going, so I'm not sure what I'll do when those seasons come out. I suppose if I wait long enough perhaps they'll need to make another box set (although it's a bit unfortunate to think there'd be that many plane crashes to do episodes about!)

So I've been watching the first season at the moment, which I realised with some shock is over 13 years old now! Holy shit, time has gone way too fast. o.O

Moving on to less pleasant news when I woke up this morning and looked in the fish tank it looked as if Plushenko the fish had DIED! As you can imagine I was upset about this, even more so when I realised to my horror his tail fin which had been so luxurious had disappeared! Seriously! It's just...gone except for a little stump left! His fins have been decidedly ragged these past few days, but I didn't realise they were so bad!

Then as I got the fish net to get him out and give him a proper burial, Plushenko the fish suddenly started swimming around! He was alive! But surely he needed his tail to live?! Obviously I wanted to find out what to do for him but I had work, so that needed to come first.

I did have enough time to look up tail loss on my mobile, it seems it was fin rot, but then I wasn't sure? The little stump was rather smooth, which sounded more like it'd be sheared off, but how? I haven't put anything new in the tank, so...?

Anyway, I tried to put it out of my mind while working for Mrs S, but I did let her know about it although seeing as she's not an expert on fish she could advise me either. But I got my work done - despite the fact that every time I had to go out into the garage it was a nightmare because the air conditioner outlet is there and it heats up the space so badly. We actually put a thermometre in there at it got up to 40 degrees!

I also made lasagna for Mrs S and her husband, and I'm pleased to report unlike last time I didn't burn it, hooray! Mrs S sent me an SMS to let me know it was delicious, yay!

Once I finished working I headed for Warriewood Square and the pet shop there to see what could be done for Plushenko the fish. I'd also read that stress could cause problems in betta fish so I was going to get some stuff called Stress Coat, but I though I'd double check with one of the sales people (they seem to know their stuff) and the recommended something called Bettafix which should help with fin issues and of course I needed to change half the water in the tank which would hopefully clear up any nasty stuff in there, which I hurried home to do - although I was worried that Plushy the fish might have died in that time.

He was at the bottom of his tank, but when I turned off the filter he started swimming about again, so he was hanging on. The only problem was I still can't get that siphon thing to work so I had to use a jug to get water out, which stirred up some stuff at the bottom of the tank which worried me a little. It cleared up once I refilled it with freshly treated water after a while, so hopefully it's all OK.

Now, I was going to go to Harvey Norman to get the digital photo frame for Mrs S, but when we checked online they were all ready out of stock! So, I thought maybe I wouldn't go to the Mall...however, it was a hot day and I felt it'd be best if I headed out, especially since I could go to Pet Stock to have the water from the tank tested, although after I thought about it, I should have taken the water out of the tank before I changed half the water. But I did think it was possible I might not have put enough water treatment in there which is something I need to know!

The chap at Pet Stock tested the water and said it was OK, so that's a relief, although in the end I did buy some of that Stress Coat stuff to put in the tank - it's like the water treatment thing but with an extra ingredient that's supposed to help calm fish. Considering how jittering Plushy the fish has been today I felt he could use it!

Then it was finally off to the mall where I returned the set-top box to Target and ended up buying the Air Crash Investigation box-set before heading back home via Mum and Dad's to take advantage of their air conditioning there and show off my purchase to Dad.

I suppose I could have stayed over at Mum and Dad's, and I did kind of regret it when I got back here to the Granny Flat and found that despite closing my door and turning on the air-con it was still stifling in here! However, going over the air-con manual I discovered there's a 'boost' setting on there and since pressing that button the room has cooled. Phew! Although I'm not sure how good of an idea it is to keep it on for too long...although having checked the manual again it doesn't say that you can only use it for such a length of time. I sure hope this isn't killing the electricity bill...

I also got another delivery today! Not my phone, but issue 13 of the Back to the Future comic (which I forgot to get when it first came out from Kings Comics so needed to get through E-Bay), so that proved to be great read! Can't wait to see how this storyline pans out. :O)

And now, I must be off for it's almost midnight and I need to go to bed! Goodnight all!

10:49pm: Yes! I got it back! Just to discover that Letters & Numbers apparently isn't on anymore. I'm not sure if it's just temporary or what, I should make sure to watch the eps I missed online before they all disappear again.

I'm sure you're all wondering how this came to happen. Well, after finishing up work I decided to go to the Mall, the idea was to ask someone at JB Hi-Fi if they had any solutions to my strange problem. As it turned out, the chap I spoke to was as confused as me, he'd never heard of such a thing! The only thing he could think of was the player was old, which I guess made sense. The only suggestion he could give was to get a set-top box or a new Blu-Ray/Tuner combo player. The latter though, costs over $300 and I didn't really want to pay that. The former seemed to be a bit of overkill, I mean getting a whole set-top box just so I could tune into SBS? And then I'd have to go through all sorts of rigmarole to record anything...

However, when I say one for about forty dollars in Target I figured, "What the Hell" and purchased it, along with some of those small battery operated fairy lights (I want to add some light to my room).

So I get home with the set-top box, set it up and it works great! Obviously, there's nothing wrong with the antenna or the cable. I then headed off to the gym, because I haven't been there in over a week and while I was working out it occurred to me...when I plugged in the set-top box, I unplugged power adaptor for the Christmas Tree, which is quite large and I wondered if perhaps that had had some weird effect on the Blu-Ray player.

Sooo, when I got home, I unplugged the set-top box, plugged the antenna cable back in the Blu-Ray player, rescanned and...all the SBS channels came back!

Which is great! Except now I have to go back to the Mall to return the set-top box, which is a pain.

Also, how the Hell did I not think of doing this before?! And I sure wish I knew why the Christmas Tree's plug caused such a big problem, it's not like there's not a whole bunch of other stuff plugged into that power board. Very annoying.

Anyway! It's been a busy day I must say, I was a little worried about my right foot which was hurting a bit after I finished working, shopping and going to the gym, but it's feeling fine now so I think it'll be OK.

But now I have to hit the hay, my app says I'm not going to bed early enough so I better address that. I know I'm sleepy right now!

So I shall bid you all goodnight!

11:03pm: Indeed so, it was the first day of normal operations back at the library so the books were coming in fast and furious, to say nothing of the ones that were in the overnight chute - apparently so many ended up in there a whole lot of them got crushed. Last I saw of them they were stacked underneath the returns desk in the hope they'd flatten themselves out again. I guess I'll find out how it worked out tomorrow afternoon.

I'm also relieved to report that my feet held up pretty well! Although the weather was a bit cooler today so I wore my pinstripe pants which meant that I could wear socks with my shoes and thus didn't have to worry about foot sweat. However, it's supposed to warm up a bit tomorrow soooo...

After finishing work I headed off to the Mall to get Mrs S's new towels and man was there a lot of them! They're the big fluffy kind so fortunately they weren't too heavy, but they were unweildy to carry and I had to wait for a while at the counter while the sales lady went looking for where they'd been set aside. It took so long actually that I began to worry they might not be there at all!

I also went looking at JB Hi-Fi about maybe getting a new Blu-Ray player, or maybe one of those aerial boxes that pick up TV through the net. But I decided not to purchase anything, since I still don't know if there's some other way to solve things with the TV and all.

I did end up buying the sunglasses that go over glasses from the Cancer Council so that was great! There weren't any green ones, but I got this cool purple leopard print ones. Niice. However, I discovered that the glasses case my Grandpa bought me is too small for them. Do'h!

Also, I forgot to bring the fifty bucks, better put that in my wallet or I might lose it in my room! :O/

Righto time to try and catch up on some Memes... )

Oh crap, look at the time, almost midnight and I have to get up earlier than usual tomorrow! That's some fail on my part.

Oh and I almost forgot I did get to go swimming today! Even though it wasn't with Mum, she forgot about me! So rude. :OP

So yeah I better hit the hay now! Goodnight all!

11:55pm: This show I was watching just ended so suddenly I have to assume it was a two parter, because otherwise that was some crappy writing. It was called Suspects and was quite interesting I might have to check it out or at least find out if the episode really does have a second part, LOL.

Moving along, today was a very busy day! After checking my phone this morning at Mrs S I discovered that a stainless steel version of the kettle was available, just not at the Mall, apparently. There were some at Chatswood, but apparently Myer doesn't do transfers from one of their shops to another, you have to order them online and get them sent to you. But since I'd all ready bought the red kettle and would need to return it, it seemed to make more sense for me to go to the Chatswood shop and do the exchange there.

Mrs. S though, was of the opinion that a silver version could be lurking at the Warringah Mall shop, apparently the inventory on the cashiers' systems aren't all that. She's found products on the shelf there before despite being told their not in stock. So, we decided to go there once I finished up my carer/household duties. I went in my car and Mrs S took the bus and I only just arrived ten or so minutes before she did! LOL.

And as it happened, she was right! Or perhaps in an amazing coincidence the silver kettles had arrived the night before because not only did I manage to locate one, a model of it seemed to be on display. I swear it wasn't there yesterday! How bizarre.

So, I made a quick swap and then met up with Mrs S at another shop where she wanted to look at an air freshner thing, which she hoped was like a dehumidifyer but alas no, so that was a bust. However, she did manage to find her husband a birthday present, so that was good.

I meanwhile had no luck finding pinstripped pants, apparently they are out of fashion. This sucks! I actually looked on the internet to see if there were any, I must have put the wrong search term in or something because the closest I got was a pair of $6,500 ones from Calvin Klein (or someone like that)!

I did thought make some purchases of my own, some nuts for Dad, a new mobile phone holder for my car - one that sticks on the dash rather than grabs and scrapes up the air con vent and a second-hand Seasons 1 to 4 of Merlin. I totally forgot there was a Season 5! Ah well...Season 5 was well...disappointing on the whole I can buy that separately some other time.

After all that I went home for a bit before needing to go back out for Reconcillation at the church, that didn't take long, although it was a bit awkward when I came in and both priests were free! I wasn't sure which one to go to, LOL, I decided to go to the Parish Priest.

Anyway, I better wrap this up, I don't want to sleep in too much tomorrow because the last episode of the figure skating anime I've been watching will be waiting tomorrow morning to be viewed and I want to see what happens!

And lastly, Mrs S was nice enough to shout my lunch at the Mall, ha ha work benefits!

But for now, goodnight!

10:44pm: I've got the photo of my dress that I wore on Sunday! Not through Photobucket that's still acting-up, but here's the link, which will hopefully work! What do you think of the shoes? Like I said 10 bucks from K-Mart.

Moving along, guess who popped in today to pick up something...Mum! Ha, figures. Although, I've been keeping the place pretty tidy so I was able to make it look pretty decent by the time she arrived. I even got to show her my new folding style, it is indeed looking mighty fine. :O)

Anywho as this morning I headed off to the Mall to do some Christmas shopping. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any 60s cocktail music, dang. I tried looking up the flower bloom thing on my mobile, but its battery was running out again plus there's no nursery in the Mall so I wouldn't have been able to get it anyway.

I did get Mrs S's coffee machine, although for some reason they only had red colour ones left, which is weird because the one Mrs S took a photo of was silver, but even when the cashier looked it up in other shops...only red. I still bought even though Mrs S really wanted it in silver, but it's very fancy and looks like it'll be easy to use so....

I did buy my little bro's gift and after some hunting about managed to find a picture book about Australian animals for my niece, but I still need to get something for the big bro, Eri, Mum and Dad. Which has made me realise I have no idea what Eri would even like! I'll have to ask the big bro about that.

After getting home I did some laundry before heading off to the gym and I planned to wash my car, except someone had parked in the spot right outside the house so I couldn't because the hose will only stretch so far. However, as Mum was leaving we found that the car had left so the washing was on!

And of course...not too long after I finished up there was a thunderstorm, grumble, grumble. I have found that generally if you wash your car before it rains the rain doesn't leave spots all over.

After the storm things took a different turn when Mum called to remind me about the contracts for the Newtown parking spot and the studio apartment. I was meant to sign them - one in front of a witness so she can take them to the solicitor some time and that time is tomorrow! So, I ended up going over there for that, the big bro had one of his friends over and she was nice enough to be the witness. I also got to see the niece, she seemed very intrigued by my stripey green shirt and green watch, LOL, perhaps she'll love green too! :O)

Still haven't picked her up, but I did giver her hug and even read The Hungry Caterpillar to her, but I don't think she was all that interested LOL. I love the Caterpillar though. :O)

Ah bugger I'm recording Cold Case but the storms have come back and interfering with the antenna. Damn, hope I have this episode, but I guess it'll come back on.

Right, I better wrap this up, work is on tomorrow so I better not stay up too late.

11:35pm: Yes indeed, following the unpleasantness of the world in general this week I decided the time had come...

To purchase a new laptop. As I've mentioned previously, my current one is getting quite long in the tooth and keeps overheating, despite me having bought one of those external fan cooling things.

Actually, I made quite a few purchases today, the reason I was in the position to do such sheninigans is because I finally got around to returning the coat rack to Innovations for Mrs S. I didn't end up getting a refund though because it turned out the light-up Nativity Christmas decoration was still available so an exchange was made instead.

Because of where Innovations is I headed back past the Super Centre in Belrose on my way to the gym, which is where I went on a bit of a shopping spree.

Firstly I got some sandals with an enclosed toe, which will fit my own work requirements (technically, we can wear open-toed shoes, but I feel that's a bad idea when one carries heavy books and pushes wheeled carts) because I'm wearing a skirt tomorrow (it's going to be hot!) and I when I wear my enclosed shoes I end up with feet so sweaty it's gross. The shoes were on special and from Rivers which is a rather cheap place to begin with so they only cost me $22. Hopefully, they'll stay intact and will be comfortable.

Secondly, I went to Spotlight planning to get some pink fabric because I forgot to get some and I'm still hunting for a pink shirt, but alas there was no decent pink fabric that caught my eye (it was like neon!), however I did find some very nice green sheets for $54 - I think the ones I got on Monday are more for winter, so...

And lastly, laptop time! It's an Acer E 15, which means the screen is smaller than my old Acer, but the graphic card and RAM is like twice as fast! Also it's very light! Niiice. It was on special too 15% off. But then again...a lot of places are having sales...practically all the time so who really knows. :OP

Oh I also got a book about IBS which I thought would be helpful and was from one of those discount shops so was only 4 bucks.

After all that, I went to the gym, then home to do my laundry and set up my laptop before heading to Mum and Dad's to have dinner with Dad. I should have called him though because I arrived after 6pm and he'd given up on me! Fortunately, he still made dinner otherwise I'm not sure what I would have. :OP

After dinner - spaghetti bolognaise yum! - we called Mum who is over in Japan and got to see the big brother's house. My niece Emma was looking very well and likes it when people sing to her - except perhaps me LOL. The big bro wasn't there as he was working late, shame. His wife Eri was home and helped with the tour - someone had to hold the iPad :OP. The only downside was the connection suddenly died before Dad and I could say goodbye, whoops. We did at least get to commiserate the US Election result before that happened.

Right! I better go work calls tomorrow after all and it's actually past midnight now!

Goodnight all!

11:56pm: Yes, indeed, I finally got around to going to Innovations to buy some stuff for Mrs S, however before I even headed that way after finishing work I realised I'd forgotten something quite important.

Namely, the hose Mum ordered for my air-con here! OMG! I was meant to pick it up on Friday! And to add to that Mum had never got around to telling me where exactly it was. Fortunately, she did say something about going to the DeLongi website and that the place was in Manly Vale.

After swinging by home to change my clothes and get some more cold water (it was a hot day today!) I found the info for the place and called them up. Fortunately, the air conditioner hose was still there so off I went to collect it. As it turned out the air con unit only comes with one length of hose, which was something Mum and I had worried about. Luckily, I discovered upon arriving home that I was able to attach the two hoses together and now I can put it in the window, hooray!

Then it was on to Innovations where sadly they didn't have half the stuff Mrs S was looking for, or the defrosting tray thing I was planning to get, do'h! They did though have season one of Spin City on special. Cool!

So I was able to get one thing for Mrs S, the other thing will need to be posted out after Christmas and the third thing was completely gone.

So after that I headed off to Spotlight which as I mentioned last night was having a sale, although to be honest they seem to have one every other day. As it turned out, I'd somehow never noticed in all the other times I've been to the Super Centre that right next to the Spotlight is a shop called Pillow Talk which is choc-a-block of bed sheets and whatnot! I did check in Spotlight but ended up buying some very nice green cotton sateen sheets. Yay!

And from Spotlight I got some green and purple fabric, I want to try my hand at making shirts again. Fingers crossed they'll turn out better than the first purple one I made.

I was planning to go to the gym, but by the time I finished all this it was nearly four pm and I wanted to get home, so I'll be heading to the gym tomorrow instead.

And now, I must be off, I'm actually cheating on this entry a bit...it's after midnight, but I shall keep this entry on the 7th 'cause I wanna. :OP

I bid you all goodnight!

11:41pm: Yes indeed, as I mentioned - I think - Mrs S saw some nice 100% cotton bedsheets at Spotlight on special on Wednesday and got a set in aqua for me (I paid her back obviously), however, before they can be used they need to be washed. This is most unfortunate, because the weather sucks today and is set to suck for the rest of the weekend...and I don't have much room in my Granny Flat for hanging stuff. Although the weather wasn't looking too awful this afternoon so I figured I'd tempt fate by washing them and hanging them out. Alas they were still damp when I got home after going to Mum and Dad's place for dinner but I found somewhere to hang them.

So yes, I went to Mum and Dad's for dinner, I wasn't planning to, I'd actually bought fresh fish for dinner, however they had invited my little bro over and since I hadn't seen him ages I cooked up my fish and took it along with me. Although it wasn't completely cooked so I had to finish it up in Mum and Dad's oven. The rest of the family had Chinese, although I had some fried rice and Mum shared my fish. A good time was had by all.

Apart from that, not much to report, which is a good thing because it's nearly midnight! But oh wait I do have one thing to report! Mrs S and I were checking the Strandbags website because she was hoping to see a handbag she wanted. Alas, the bag was not there, but a red bag like the one I have was! This is good news, because my red back is falling apart a bit, I'm not sure why, maybe I overloaded it the first few times I used it? Anywho, it turned out it was on special and you could have it sent to a shop near you so you didn't have to pay for shipping. So after I finished with Mrs S and the gym I headed to Warriewood Square to do some shopping. And as it turned out I didn't need to order the bag online because there was one at the Warriewood shop! What luck because it wasn't there the last few times I'd been in! I bought it, of course, extravagant? Perhaps? Did I care? Nah. :OP

Right, I best be off now!

11:32pm: So after work today I popped over to the Petsmart to ask about it, but I didn't have a very good picture of it on my phone so the sales person wasn't really able to help me much, for example is the whole thing supposed to be submerged in the water? Or is the little motor part with the propeller in it suppose to stick out? She seemed to think it should be full submerged so when I got home I attempted to do that, but the filter is too long and when I sort of nudged it down at an angle poor Plushenko almost got sucked into the propeller! So I lifted it back out again. Fortunately Plushenko was uninjured, I hope...he seems OK. Also of a worry when I put the filter all the way in the water some weird...stuff...came out, like dirt from the gravel, I hope that hasn't done anything bad to the water in the aquarium.

So the upshot of all this...it's still making pretty much the same amount of noise! Damn! And I can't take it out of the tank really because I'm quite sure it's working and I don't want to risk Plushenko's health and I can't seem to figure out exactly what type of filter it is so looking it up on the net hasn't helped. Most irritating.

Anywho, moving right along, I'm sorry to report I didn't go ice skating today, primarily because I have a blister on one of my right toes from the shoes I wore to the interview yesterday. I usually wear the shoes with stockings, but it was a bit hot to do that yesterday, and my right foot is bigger than my left so...blister. :O( And my ice skates are quite tight so I didn't want to end up limping, which I probably would have seeing as I'm a wuss. Also it's been rainy today and I don't really like to drive long distances in the rain.

So instead I came home and sat on my butt :OP but I caught up on my reading so that was cool. Although I haven't caught up on my memes, which is not cool.

Oh, wait I did do some shopping before heading home because I was out of cheese, and I also got myself a pair of watches from K-Mart, they're cheap but I've had watches from there before that are still working so...

Right, I better be off, it's almost midnight. LOL, the guy's name on this House Hunters International is Barkley, seriously? People these days. :OP

10:58pm: Yes, I decided to take the bus today, not just to Dee Why Library to do my volunteering, but also to Warringah Mall where I bought some pants Mrs S wanted me to get for her and to look for a collapsable bucket at the Reject Shop which she told me about. But I'm not sure if there's such a thing, the guy I asked there certainly hadn't heard of it. There's collapsable laundry baskets, but I can't use one of those to empty water from Plushenko's fish tank! I guess I'll have to stick with the small garbage bin I bought at the Japanese discount shop last week.

Anywho, I got the pants for Mrs S, which is good! But still no luck finding nicely green coloured 100% cotton sheets for me, although admittedly I didn't look that hard, I headed out later than I planned so I didn't really have time to hang around, unless I wanted to be late getting home from the library.

Speaking of...tomorrow is the interview! OMG! It's at 2pm so I don't have to rush from work with Mrs S tomorrow or anything, but I'm not exactly sure what I should wear, apparently it's going to be quite hot tomorrow so I suppose I should wear a dress or skirt. Except I haven't done my legs in a few weeks so they're looking a bit unacceptable by social standards. :OP

Not much else to report although I had the most bizarre dream last night where I suddenly discovered two of the Nedshenkos in my old fish tank, one was dead, but the other was hanging on so the dream ended with me trying to revive him and properly dispose of the one that died. I couldn't put surviving Nedshenko in Plushenko's tank because two male Siamese Fighting Fish will kill each other if they're put together. Suffice to say I woke up without knowing if still-alive Nedshenko made it through.

Right, so I need to head off because as I mentioned yesterday I told my UP activity tracker thing I'd go to bed at 11:18pm so I can get the proper amount of sleep. And that's in 8 minutes!

So on that note, goodnight all! Wish me luck at the interview tomorrow!

Locked!

Oct. 1st, 2016 10:14 pm

9:50pm: Aww nuts, I bought the first two seasons of Modern Family on DVD while I was at the SupaCentre today buying the tea spoons that had finally come in at the homewares shop there only to discover just now that the Season one's DVD lock is still engaged! Which means I can't open the case, bugger. Also it sounds like it might be sort of...broken inside, which sucks because that means whenever you open it (once I can do that) some of the DVDs will fall out!

And now I've got to find a way to get the case open, one possibility could be the library, although I'm not sure if Mona Vale has a DVD unlocker thing - I know there's one at Dee Why Library - or used to be at least. I'm not sure I an really be bothered to go to Dee Why Library tomorrow before I head off to work. Either way I don't feel like hiking all the way back to the SupaCentre to get it open! I suppose if all else fails I'll have to go to the JB Hi-Fi at the Mall, which is still kind of annoying.

Moving on, I didn't go ice skating after going to the SupaCentre because I'm at Mum and Dad's house for the night - so I can go to church with them early tomorrow - and with Daylight Saving kicking in tonight that means a whole hour is lost and I wanted to get the most out of my wi-fi time here.

As it is it's technically all ready 11pm! I have to go to sleep as soon as House Hunters Renovations finishes, in which case I should do a few more Memes and wrap this up.

Friday5

16/9/16

That's My Fund-Day

1. What’s the last thing you didn’t want but purchased anyway because someone’s kid was raising funds for something? Hmm, nothing comes to mind. After all fundrasing often involves chocolate and I'm good for that. :OP

2. What’s something you’re always happy to buy when kids sell it as a fundraiser? LOL see the tail-end of my answer above.

3. What was the last fundraiser you participated in? Man, I haven't been involved in one since school! And that's...gulp 13 years ago now.

4. What are your feelings about the endless cycle of fundraising? It seems...annoying? But I guess how else can one get money? Especially if it's a non-profit.

5. What’s something people don’t sell as a fundraiser but really should? Ummm...books? But I guess technically they do that because you can buy them at Vinnies etc and the money there goes to charity. I guess because of the obesity issues in Australia it should be fruit!

23/9/16

All Over

1. What would you like right now to be coated with? Like this moment? 'Cause that question doesn't really make a lot of sense! I wouldn't say no to a Cherry Ripe though.

2. What’s something you recently slathered on something else? I slathered a whole lot of butter on Mrs S's toast on Friday morning - she likes it that way.

3. What’s something you purchased recently whose purpose is to cover something? Uh...I have no idea honestly? I bought some cling-wrap but it was so long ago I don't remember when!

4. What do your current bed linens look like? Dark green sheets and pillow case, with a New York City Skyline doona cover and pillow case and a dark green U-Shaped pillow case.

5. Under what circumstances did you last wear some kind of gloves? At Mrs S's place for personal care , gotta keep it clean. :OP

30/9/16

Impromptu

1. What’s something you’ve created while improvising in the kitchen? I'm not an improvisor so I got nothing. Oh wait! Thickened cream on grapes is really delicious, but that's probably a known fact. :OP

2. In your work, how good are you at winging it? Pretty good...although I do prefer clear instructions!

3. When you travel, how much of your trip do you make up as you go? Don't travel much, although the last time I did I pretty much winged it the whole time!

4. How structured are your plans for this weekend? Since I work on the weekends, quite structured in terms of that, but after work I'm pretty free.

5. What’s something you’ve discovered while wandering around in your neighborhood? My neighbourhood's very quiet and is just residential property, so...nothing.

Okedoke, finally caught up on the Friday5! Round of applause, please! ;OD

And now, I bid you all goodnight!

11:41pm: Which isn't a Monday this year, but let's take a moment to appreciate Back to the Future III, and the fact that I bought the Back in Time documentary from JB Hi-Fi today.

Anywho, today was an interesting day because I once again had the day off because the new girl is still in training, so she needs to come in on a week day to get some more experience. My original plan was to go ice skating, since I haven't gone for weeks, unfortunately, I got the time of the morning session wrong and while driving there and realising there was no way I'd get there on time, I figured maybe I'd just go to the lunchtime session, but the idea that I wouldn't make it back in time for Scripture class stressed me out and I had a panic attack. :O( Damn.

I planned to go home once I got a hold of myself and wallow, but I thought that wasn't a very good idea so I went to the Warringah Mall instead, which is where I picked up the BTTF DVD and some other stuff including a watermelon inspired door mat! :OD It's really cute and I'm very pleased because I found it at Target which meant it was only 12 bucks! The ones I'd seen before were like $35!

Then I called M to see about coming over to play Canasta, Grandpa was out golfing and she was happy for me to come over. And then proceeded to start kicking my ass at the game! On the plus side we didn't actually finish it, so perhaps I can claw back to victory next time we meet. Also, I got to eat a yummy chicken sandwich.

And I got to Scripture Class on time, Mum wasn't there this week because her friend is in town and for her birthday she and her friends went into the city to see My Fair Lady. The lady filling in for her ended up teaching the same thing to the kids that they've been taught before, whoops, but they are only in Year Two - so about 7 years old - so they seemed cool with it.

Anywho, I better haul butt, it's almost midnight and it's back to work as normal tomorrow!

10:44pm: LOL, I probably shouldn't try to speak street...but I will anyway because it's fun.

And also true! Because after work today I drove to Vinnies in Brookvale to meet up with my mother and began our search for new furniture - since except for the wardrobe the new Granny Flat is unfurnished.

We originally went to Vinnies to look for a small table, but those aren't easy to find so unsurprisingly there wasn't any there. What was there however was a sexy red reclining chair, with a foot stool for only 50 bucks! Now, I have my white chair, but to be honest it's not actually all that comfortable to sit in - it's a little high for me - and the stool (which I do use all the time) is all sort of threadbare. So I bought it and Mum's going to pick it up on Wednesday in Dad's car - which is an SUV so can fit such a thing.

The other reason we went to Vinnies was to get the contact details of the movers they use because they were really good last time I moved. We succeeded with that and I called the guy as Mum and I (in her car) headed towards Manly and the second hand whitegoods place. I didn't get the guy first go and had to leave one of those 10 second messages that will be converted to text. Ew...I hate those so much, I'm always worried the software won't understand a thing I'm saying and they'll just get some garbled shit. I guess your phone number still shows up. Either way the guy did get back to me and I arranged the movement of furniture to happen on Thursday.

Mum and I took a detour to Fantastic Furniture to continue the table hunt and we found a very cool one that folds down! It was quite expensive, like $270 and that didn't include chairs. I did actually buy it, but later on Mum saw what she thought was a better option at Target so I have to cancel my order on the table - still getting the chairs though - which is good because you have to cancel your order in person, and there's nothing worse then having to drive out of your way for no real good reason.

Then it was to the whitegoods place in Manly where I'm pleased to say I found a fridge (with a four star rating!), a washing machine (which sadly had an absolutely atrocious energy and water rating) and a rather sexy small black microwave. Whoo! Sweet. It's gonna cost me $660, but that does include delivery, so I think I've made out good. :O)

In other news, tomorrow is my cousin Mack's belated birthday get-together! I called Uncle Sam to ask if I should make cupcakes - the invite said no need to bring anything, but you know I love any excuse to make cupcakes! He said thanks but there was enough food so no, I was a bit disappointed - I could practically taste that left over cupcake batter!- but what can you do? However, a little later Mack himself called me and told me to make some, I assume he had his parents, or at least his mother's OK to do this. So I made them! However...as I was taking out the batch of four extras from the oven I managed to spill them with one landing on my thumb and burning it! Ow! Epic fail!

I've not been very good to my hands today...I got a rather nasty papercut this morning and then I somehow managed to catch my finger in the rings of the folder with the timesheets in it which hurt like Hell. And of course this burn, which I think has derailed my plans to do some memes because I need to put a wet cloth on it so it'll stop hurting.

And finally, I hurried home because the sky was looking quite threatening and I wanted to get my washing off the line, however it was still a bit damp and the sky seemed better so I left it out there...only for the rain to come by about half an hour ago! Fuck! I got it inside but now it's damp-er then it was when I got home this evening.

Grumble, grumble.

Oh! I almost forgot! I managed to write 390 words today! LOL it's sad how excited I was by that...:OP Come on me, get with the program.

Anyway, signing off now.

Goodnight all!

I-Day

Jul. 14th, 2016 11:09 pm
anonymoose_au: (Hey! Bitches)
10:31pm: Which stands for Interview Day and...I did OK in terms of being able to answer questions and make eye-contact, but I'm pretty sure I'm not getting this job. I have no idea what the Staff Manager person at Dee Why Library was thinking when she recommended I apply for it because it's a seriously senior role. Like I'd be responsible for four people! o.O And figuring out what books are to be purchased! And balancing budgets?!

Yeah...no...

Also, it was so damn cold this morning I had trouble psyche-ing myself up to get out of bed and as a result I was a bit late to Mrs S's this morning, which I'm pretty sure ended up with me finishing after 10:30 and ending up being 5 minutes late to the interview! Shiiiit, that never looks good either. Plus, I realised later in the day that I forgot to do a rather important chore at Mrs S's before I dashed out today. Double shiiiit.

Anyway, after the interview I decided to pop down to the Aldi on Manly Wharf because there were some things I wanted to buy there and I had lunch at Nandos. Man, if I could get a job as a library ASSISTANT at Manly Library I'd be all over that in flash, it's such a lovely area! I remember the good ol' days when I worked there at ITP.

I did discover to my disappointed that the Salvation Army second hand shop has closed down permanently there! Whaaat? When the Hell did that happen?! That place was really good too. :O(

After I finished up at Manly I headed towards Dee Why and the library there, making a brief detour to the Mall because even though I hadn't got my Target $10 coupon thing there was this washing rack thing Mrs S wanted so I bought her that.

Anywho, as it happened the Staff Manager person was on Annual Leave so I didn't get a chance to talk to her after all, I also heard back from my Supervisor at Mona Vale Library who said that - unfortunately - if I did get this job they couldn't do a secondment for me, so if I did get it and it ends in 10 months I'll be kind of screwed. At least library wise...with my TAFE qualifications I can do Aged and Home Care.

And after I finished my volunteering I went to my parents place to talk about jazz. The apartment in Dee Why possibility remains possible...although I'm not sure if would actually work if I don't have a full-time job. I dunno...I suppose I could see about working at Mum's place of business a couple of afternoons a week or something.

Mum and I also discussed "The MOVE", some leeway was made, such as booking the moving man and setting up a time to go and look at a second hand fridge and washing machine. Also, the agent called as she was with the tenant at the new place and said I could have her old wardrobe for free, but pretty much everything else had been sold, which means I also need to get a table and chairs.

Oh! And get Dad's spare microwave, because I don't have one of those either.

Right, I guess I better head to bed, that's probably part of my issue with getting up in the mornings. :OP

9:41pm: Man, watching International House Hunters makes me wonder...do the US citizens they find to do shows based on have any idea that life's totally different in some other countries? Seems not to be honest! They're always surprised by how small stuff is, or how close the neighbours are (what's up with that? Do neighbours tend to be far away in the US?), or wanting outdoor space in Hong Kong - one of the most congested centrally located cities in the world? Get with the program you guys! :OP

Interesting fact, Hong Kong is the most expensive city in the world to rent...the second most expensive? Sydney, Australia. Lucky for me I've got the place I have. Then again, I don't live in the actual city, which I guess is the most expensive.

Moving on from that, after Mrs S's today I decided to pop down to the Mall because the last time I was there I didn't feel all that good so I didn't stick around to try and find new sneakers. So that's what I did today, however, despite all the other sales going on I seem to have missed out on the sneaker sales! There were only dribs and drabs left, dang. However, I did end up finding a pair and they were only forty bucks! However...they are kids shoes, although they fit fine - perhaps a little tight on the top of my foot at present, but they'll give. The only problem with them, if there is one, is that they've got velcro straps! So I kinda look either super immature, or like an old lady, LOL. They've got nice purple accents on them, and that's my second favourite colour so all in all I think I made a good choice.

In other news, I have to go to bed pretty much ASAP because I need to get up an hour earlier because Mrs S needs to get to an appointment by 11am. I had planned to go ice skating after that, but alas I spoke to Mum and discovered that public school holidays haven't begun yet. For some reason Dad's school is having a three week holiday (I don't remember every getting a three week holiday between terms...but maybe I'm just misremerbering). This means that I have to help Mum out with the school kids...and she'll probably come over afterwards so I'll need to clean up the place.

Oh well, I guess I'll do the gym tomorrow instead. Might have to skip one of the weight exercises I do because of the huge-ass bruise on my thigh. It looks bloody awful! I probably should have pointed it out to my doctor when I went yesterday, she didn't see it though because I lay on that side during the examination.

On that note, here's a quick Meme before I haul butt!

Saturday 9

:As Long As You Love Me (1997):

1) This video shows the boys in the band nervously await an audition. When were you last nervous? Well...hmm...I get nervous quite a bit so probably only a few days ago...I felt a bit weird while working in the library at Sunday. It passed quite quickly though, phew!

2) BSB Brian Littrell was born with a congenital heart problem and had open heart surgery the year this song was released. Who is the last person you visited in the hospital? One of my friends who had to have some serious surgery, but they're fine now. :O)

3) Littrell had different health trouble in 2009. While working in Japan, he contracted swine flu, which caused the band to cancel several events. Have you battled a cold or flu this summer? Knock on wood...no, I thought I had, but it seems it was only hayfever.

4) When you feel a cold coming on, what's your favorite remedy? A mandarin for Vitamin C and an early night!

5) Brian and his cousin, fellow BSB member Kevin Richardson, are both from Kentucky and have been inducted into the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame. According to their website, if you tour the Hall of Fame you'll see exhibits that celebrate Kentucky's contribution to American music. Do you enjoy museums? Or do you think they're a snooze? No, I love museums, they're great! :OD I enjoy finding out about history.

6) BSB Nick Carter was named one of People magazine's "Most Beautiful People in the World." Who is someone you think is especially gorgeous? Scratches head...uh...gee...I dunno to be honest. One of the guys in Eurovision was pretty hot, but I can't remember what country he represented, LOL.

7) This spring Nick became a father for the first time. Is anyone in your life expecting a baby this year? Nope, although my brother's wife had a baby this year, most cool.

8) The band has been involved in ongoing litigation with their first manager, saying he had been dishonest with them about how much they had earned. Tell us about someone you trusted, but shouldn't have. That used car salesman! What an asshole he turned out to be! I thought I'd asked all the right questions, especially when I saw the form I was going to sign and he assured me that I could get my deposit back if things fell through, but when they did he wouldn't! Good thing my boss at the time was able to get most of it back for me.

9) The band's recordbreaking 1999 tour was sponsored by the Sears department store chain. Sam remembers the twice-a-year shopping trips to Sears -- spring and fall -- with her mother to update Sam's school wardrobe. What's the last article of clothing you bought? Some leggings for ice skating, the other one's got ripped and I'd only worn them once, WTF?

Right, off I dash!
