11:46pm: Whoopee! He's just won his first round match here at the Aussie Open! Frankly I was rather worried for a bit there...the first set was a hard one, and then in the second set he lost to his opponent, but he barreled back in the third and fourth, hooray! :OD

Speaking of Fed-Ex, I'm still waiting with baited breath for my phone to arrive, the Order Tracker still says order received, which does make me a little concerned that it won't arrive before it's off to Canberra with the parental units.

What makes it a bit more awkward is that I might have to give notice before I go. The little bro has had no luck finding a flatmate - the Russian girl didn't show up (WTF is the deal with people doing that? It's bloody rude!). There's one last possibility a Canadian girl who seems super interested, but then people might just say that kind of thing...Burg (aka the little bro) is hoping she can come by tomorrow, but if she doesn't I'll have to prepare to move. Which having driven over there today I realise will rather suck in terms of travel unless I want to hang out at my parents house a lot - which apparently they say I can do, but I dunno.

So yeah that's all up in the air...

Anyway, even though I'm not working tomorrow I need to wrap this up and hit the hay because I need to wash my car, I was going to do it this evening when I got back from Burg's apartment, but I had a headache and it was still hot so I didn't. Although apparently it's meant to be even hotter tomorrow... But I have to do other stuff too so yeah.

At least I got my Russian done today, go me.

But I have some unfortunate news...Plushenko the Fish didn't make it. :O( RIP, you were a good little fishy.

Goodnight all!

10:50pm: In these episodes of Air Crash Investigation that I'm watching! They must have gone to a later timeslot or something in Season 2 because the episodes in Season 1 bleeped out the swears, but now they're dropping 'f' bombs left and right, which when you think about it makes sense, because God knows if I was in such a situation I'd be swearing my head off. (Although, it should be noted that when they release transcripts of cockpit voice recorders they usually bleep out the swears anyway, so I'm not sure how Air Crash Investigation knows they were actually dropping the 'f-bomb'.)

Moving on...for some reason, it seems to be hotter in my room here then it was yesterday despite the fact it's supposed to be cooler tonight...Although cooler is sort of relative, it's was like 27 degrees today instead of 30 degrees...or maybe that's because I didn't put the boost function on, I was hoping I wouldn't have to, but it seems to be the only way to cool this place down, otherwise I'm sweating.

In other news, I'm a bit disappointed in myself, I somehow managed to sleep through my alarm this morning and didn't wake up until 9:30! This was good in terms of catching up on my zzzs, but totally ruined my plans to go ice skating today. Not only did I want to do that since I'm planning on hanging out with friends on Saturday afternoon I also wrote it down as a 'do-to' in my Cognitive Behaviour book, I hope this wasn't some sort of subconscious over sleeping to avoid going, I was feeling a bit nervous about doing so yesterday.

What else to report - well Plushenko the fish is hanging on, although he's spending a lot of time on the bottom of his tank so I'm a bit worried about that. It occurred to me that maybe the sponge for the filter in his tank needs to be changed. I forgot to find out how often it's supposed to be changed, better check that out. Although as I typed this Plushenko swam to the top of the tank to get some air so fingers crossed I think he's getting better. His fins certainly look fuller, although I'm not sure if his tail will ever come back.

So I've left writing this entry a bit late, but I must give a shout-out to Dad who bought me an absolutely awesome t-shirt while he was in Parramatta today (he has to take his car to the dealership he bought it at while it's under warranty)...he also bought a matching one for himself, we plan to wear them tomorrow to dinner which will no doubt make my mother go "Oh nooo"

Right, I have to finish off my Russian before I hit the sheets so I'll wrap this up now.

It's supposed to be really hot again tomorrow...pray for my air-con!

Oh and lastly, many thanks to [personal profile] crossover_chick for my birthday fic!

Goodnight all!

11:21pm: Yep, I decided to just do it and purchase that boxset of Air Crash Investigation, because...just look how awesome it is! It looks like a real Black Box! :OD

It has 36 DVDs in it, in 14 cases (covering the 14 seasons of the show), of course as I might have mentioned yesterday the show is actually still going, so I'm not sure what I'll do when those seasons come out. I suppose if I wait long enough perhaps they'll need to make another box set (although it's a bit unfortunate to think there'd be that many plane crashes to do episodes about!)

So I've been watching the first season at the moment, which I realised with some shock is over 13 years old now! Holy shit, time has gone way too fast. o.O

Moving on to less pleasant news when I woke up this morning and looked in the fish tank it looked as if Plushenko the fish had DIED! As you can imagine I was upset about this, even more so when I realised to my horror his tail fin which had been so luxurious had disappeared! Seriously! It's just...gone except for a little stump left! His fins have been decidedly ragged these past few days, but I didn't realise they were so bad!

Then as I got the fish net to get him out and give him a proper burial, Plushenko the fish suddenly started swimming around! He was alive! But surely he needed his tail to live?! Obviously I wanted to find out what to do for him but I had work, so that needed to come first.

I did have enough time to look up tail loss on my mobile, it seems it was fin rot, but then I wasn't sure? The little stump was rather smooth, which sounded more like it'd be sheared off, but how? I haven't put anything new in the tank, so...?

Anyway, I tried to put it out of my mind while working for Mrs S, but I did let her know about it although seeing as she's not an expert on fish she could advise me either. But I got my work done - despite the fact that every time I had to go out into the garage it was a nightmare because the air conditioner outlet is there and it heats up the space so badly. We actually put a thermometre in there at it got up to 40 degrees!

I also made lasagna for Mrs S and her husband, and I'm pleased to report unlike last time I didn't burn it, hooray! Mrs S sent me an SMS to let me know it was delicious, yay!

Once I finished working I headed for Warriewood Square and the pet shop there to see what could be done for Plushenko the fish. I'd also read that stress could cause problems in betta fish so I was going to get some stuff called Stress Coat, but I though I'd double check with one of the sales people (they seem to know their stuff) and the recommended something called Bettafix which should help with fin issues and of course I needed to change half the water in the tank which would hopefully clear up any nasty stuff in there, which I hurried home to do - although I was worried that Plushy the fish might have died in that time.

He was at the bottom of his tank, but when I turned off the filter he started swimming about again, so he was hanging on. The only problem was I still can't get that siphon thing to work so I had to use a jug to get water out, which stirred up some stuff at the bottom of the tank which worried me a little. It cleared up once I refilled it with freshly treated water after a while, so hopefully it's all OK.

Now, I was going to go to Harvey Norman to get the digital photo frame for Mrs S, but when we checked online they were all ready out of stock! So, I thought maybe I wouldn't go to the Mall...however, it was a hot day and I felt it'd be best if I headed out, especially since I could go to Pet Stock to have the water from the tank tested, although after I thought about it, I should have taken the water out of the tank before I changed half the water. But I did think it was possible I might not have put enough water treatment in there which is something I need to know!

The chap at Pet Stock tested the water and said it was OK, so that's a relief, although in the end I did buy some of that Stress Coat stuff to put in the tank - it's like the water treatment thing but with an extra ingredient that's supposed to help calm fish. Considering how jittering Plushy the fish has been today I felt he could use it!

Then it was finally off to the mall where I returned the set-top box to Target and ended up buying the Air Crash Investigation box-set before heading back home via Mum and Dad's to take advantage of their air conditioning there and show off my purchase to Dad.

I suppose I could have stayed over at Mum and Dad's, and I did kind of regret it when I got back here to the Granny Flat and found that despite closing my door and turning on the air-con it was still stifling in here! However, going over the air-con manual I discovered there's a 'boost' setting on there and since pressing that button the room has cooled. Phew! Although I'm not sure how good of an idea it is to keep it on for too long...although having checked the manual again it doesn't say that you can only use it for such a length of time. I sure hope this isn't killing the electricity bill...

I also got another delivery today! Not my phone, but issue 13 of the Back to the Future comic (which I forgot to get when it first came out from Kings Comics so needed to get through E-Bay), so that proved to be great read! Can't wait to see how this storyline pans out. :O)

And now, I must be off for it's almost midnight and I need to go to bed! Goodnight all!

10:54pm: Yes! As I'm sure you can guess from my subject heading I'm at M and Grandpa's house and this afternoon M and I played Canasta.

And I was sooooo close to winning! But alas, M pipped me at the post! LOL, M is always so relieved when she wins! Like she didn't used to beat me constantly for fifteen years. :OP Ah well, I have a chance for revenge tomorrow, which means I gotta keep this update short.

Not that I've got much to say, I did finally get around to changing some of the water in Plushenko the fish's tank. Only problem is the siphon pump thing I got turned out to be too big for my tank and thus didn't work! This is no good because I had to completely wreck the packaging to get it out and I'm pretty sure I didn't save the receipt for it so how am I going to return it? I'm not even sure if I can exchange it because I'm pretty sure it's the smallest one they had. Dang...

But Plushenko seems happy and that's the important thing, I was rather worried that in trying to get the siphon to work I might have startled him too much. But when I left for Scripture class this afternoon he was swimming about happily.

And OMG Scripture class was a shock! First of all I ended up running late because I washed my hair before going and managed to fall down on my time-keeping and second of all when I got there...the teacher who's supposed to be taking the class wasn't there! And she wasn't late...she just...wasn't there! I guess she must have been sick or something, but I had no idea and no way to contact her.

So I ended up taking the class! Fortunately, the actual teacher provided some assistance in keeping the class calm and all that jazz, but what do I know about teaching scripture and talking to children?! I did my best and I guess it wasn't too bad. I'm not sure if they quite got the idea of giving the gifts of love, joy and peace, but eh, those are kind of difficult concepts anyway. Although all this reminds me I need to tell Mum what happened but I need to go to bed now so that'll have to wait until tomorrow, I guess.

Still no luck locating my lunchbox, I checked the car again, but no sign of it and I'm quite certain I didn't leave it at my parents' house. Sniff, that bums me out.

Right, better be off now, I didn't get anywhere near the proper amount of sleep last night and if I don't get at least 8 hours tonight I'll regret it I'm sure.

I don't have my external drive plugged in right now so I'll have to give the Sims Thing a miss for this entry (I know, shocking!)

Goodnight all!

10:59pm: Because it keeps bringing up water, so on the plus side I've learned to recognise the Russian for water. Go me!

On the down side I've only just refilled my water jug so the water I have here is not as cold as I like it to be, boo. But I went and got some anyway because I'm thirsty!

Moving along, today I went to the Library for the volunteering, which went well! Actually, I felt like it took me too long to do one patron's selection, but the HLS Co-ordinators were very happy to see me, so that's cool.

I decided to take the bus, so that I could read my book, but wouldn't you know it? I didn't actually read it instead I was on my mobile instead! Derr. Although admittedly on the way home I had to stand up in the bus, which makes reading quite difficult. I was glad to get some walking in today, although it got quite warm on the walk back to the Granny Flat from the bus stop, it was supposed to reach 26 C today, however the news tells me it only got to 23, but who knows, the temperatures on the Northern Beaches can be weird.

Also, I got a bit worried when I checked my fish tank and couldn't see Plushenko anywhere! Which is impossible because I've got a lid on the tank so it's not like he could have jumped out! But peering from different angles I couldn't see him anywhere, I even took the little hatch on the lid off to look. As you can imagine I was starting to get quite confused, but as I stepped away he suddenly popped out from behind the filter. Sneaky! With his black body he can be hard to see, but after the filter propeller incident I was worried about him!

Right I'm watching Air Crash Investigation and you have to ask yourself...why would an airport not have a radar? I guess quite a few don't, but it really seems like a necessary piece of equipment to have. On the episode I'm watching a plane has crashed in the Amazon and no-one knows where it is because there's no radar to show the rescuers where they are! At least until they can set of the emergency beacon, although a party from the plane has had to go off looking for help. And as it happens the plane wasn't anywhere near where it should have been.

Radars save lives.

Okedoke, I better wrap this up, because work with Mrs S calls tomorrow.

Goodnight all!

11:32pm: So after work today I popped over to the Petsmart to ask about it, but I didn't have a very good picture of it on my phone so the sales person wasn't really able to help me much, for example is the whole thing supposed to be submerged in the water? Or is the little motor part with the propeller in it suppose to stick out? She seemed to think it should be full submerged so when I got home I attempted to do that, but the filter is too long and when I sort of nudged it down at an angle poor Plushenko almost got sucked into the propeller! So I lifted it back out again. Fortunately Plushenko was uninjured, I hope...he seems OK. Also of a worry when I put the filter all the way in the water some weird...stuff...came out, like dirt from the gravel, I hope that hasn't done anything bad to the water in the aquarium.

So the upshot of all this...it's still making pretty much the same amount of noise! Damn! And I can't take it out of the tank really because I'm quite sure it's working and I don't want to risk Plushenko's health and I can't seem to figure out exactly what type of filter it is so looking it up on the net hasn't helped. Most irritating.

Anywho, moving right along, I'm sorry to report I didn't go ice skating today, primarily because I have a blister on one of my right toes from the shoes I wore to the interview yesterday. I usually wear the shoes with stockings, but it was a bit hot to do that yesterday, and my right foot is bigger than my left so...blister. :O( And my ice skates are quite tight so I didn't want to end up limping, which I probably would have seeing as I'm a wuss. Also it's been rainy today and I don't really like to drive long distances in the rain.

So instead I came home and sat on my butt :OP but I caught up on my reading so that was cool. Although I haven't caught up on my memes, which is not cool.

Oh, wait I did do some shopping before heading home because I was out of cheese, and I also got myself a pair of watches from K-Mart, they're cheap but I've had watches from there before that are still working so...

Right, I better be off, it's almost midnight. LOL, the guy's name on this House Hunters International is Barkley, seriously? People these days. :OP

10:58pm: Yes, I decided to take the bus today, not just to Dee Why Library to do my volunteering, but also to Warringah Mall where I bought some pants Mrs S wanted me to get for her and to look for a collapsable bucket at the Reject Shop which she told me about. But I'm not sure if there's such a thing, the guy I asked there certainly hadn't heard of it. There's collapsable laundry baskets, but I can't use one of those to empty water from Plushenko's fish tank! I guess I'll have to stick with the small garbage bin I bought at the Japanese discount shop last week.

Anywho, I got the pants for Mrs S, which is good! But still no luck finding nicely green coloured 100% cotton sheets for me, although admittedly I didn't look that hard, I headed out later than I planned so I didn't really have time to hang around, unless I wanted to be late getting home from the library.

Speaking of...tomorrow is the interview! OMG! It's at 2pm so I don't have to rush from work with Mrs S tomorrow or anything, but I'm not exactly sure what I should wear, apparently it's going to be quite hot tomorrow so I suppose I should wear a dress or skirt. Except I haven't done my legs in a few weeks so they're looking a bit unacceptable by social standards. :OP

Not much else to report although I had the most bizarre dream last night where I suddenly discovered two of the Nedshenkos in my old fish tank, one was dead, but the other was hanging on so the dream ended with me trying to revive him and properly dispose of the one that died. I couldn't put surviving Nedshenko in Plushenko's tank because two male Siamese Fighting Fish will kill each other if they're put together. Suffice to say I woke up without knowing if still-alive Nedshenko made it through.

Right, so I need to head off because as I mentioned yesterday I told my UP activity tracker thing I'd go to bed at 11:18pm so I can get the proper amount of sleep. And that's in 8 minutes!

So on that note, goodnight all! Wish me luck at the interview tomorrow!

11:18pm: Since the last series of MacGyver is out of the library, I've decided to move onto Murder She Wrote, I'm watching the pilot right now and she's managed to get herself into quite a bit of trouble all ready. Although I sure wish I could get a book unexpectedly published like Jessica did, but sadly I don't think that's gonna happen.

Also not gonna happen, going to bed at 11:18 like I told my Up app I would! Dang, I guess I can get up a bit later than I normally would since I don't have to go to Mrs S's tomorrow, but that's probably not the point.

Ha ha, Jessica just used the term sheninigans! I do enjoy that word.

Not much else to report, it was the usual Wednesday - well except for the extra hour at Mrs S's - helping Mum with the Catechist thing and having her over afterwards. I showed off Plushenko the fish, who is still swimming around happily in his new tank. :O)

Although Mum did remind me that there's this Catechist stuff I'm meant to do online, like these little courses, so I decided to get onto that tonight, they were pretty boring though and also gave me sore eyeballs, or it just could be a lack of sleep.

So, with that in mind I'm gonna cut this entry off here before I descend into mere blathering, although it may be too late. :OP

10:30pm: Heh, I'm pretty sure this episode of MacGyver I'm watching was the inspiration behind the Simpsons quote from an episode all those years ago where Selma married Sideshow Bob.

Although there's another episode to do with Native Americans, so it could have been from that. Either way, I am amused.

Moving on, today after work I decided to take a sample of my water to the Brookvale Petstock and see if it was ready for a fish. And it was! So I decided no time like the present, so may I introduce Plushenko! I decided to just go with that rather than Nedshenko because that name seems to be a bit cursed.

Well, now that I've watched the whole episode I see it has nothing whatsoever to do with that quote...in fact, I don't think MacGyver ever did anything that relied on the Earth's gravitational pull, but hey sounds like something Mac would say. :OP

And I just got distracted by stuff...again, it's that time o' the month, though so I'm gonna blame that for today's lack of attention. :OP

Now, I should catch up on Memes again, but I can't remember where I left off on the Saturday 9! Seems it was July, huh, I could have sworn I caught up more than that...guess not.

So let's do it )

Okedoke, I better wrap this up, even though I don't have to work tomorrow I should keep my sleep schedule the same, plus I do have stuff to do tomorrow!

That reminds me...I need to email one of the library managers, because he called me today while I was at work with Mrs S about a shift, but I couldn't call back until I finished work and by then he'd called someone else. Boo, that was going to be my first shift with the former Warringah Council libraries in forever! I should update them about my new schedule anyway.

Right off I go now, goodnight all!
