anonymoose_au: (I Don't Know...)
10:15pm: Well, at least I'm getting a good pun in, but in all seriousness this is so fucked up.

As you all know my memory sucks...and this time it's truly ruined my wallet.

I decided after watching the ice skating highlights on SBS that it was time to head to Macquarie Centre and get my skates on. So I'm driving when suddenly police car lights flash in my rearview mirror! I was surprised but thankfully had the presence of mind to pull over rather than keep driving like some of the idiots you see on RBT/ I thought maybe I was getting a random breath test, but after handing my licence over I discovered it was worse...much worse.

I had completely forgotten to register my car!

It expired last Saturday so for almost a week I've been driving around unregistered and uninsured! FUCK! How could this happen?! Why didn't I get a renewal notice?! Didn't I pay for it? (No that was my comprehensive insurance, which is a totally different thing).

The cop was very nice, but that didn't stop him from giving me a ticket for driving unregistered (although, he at least didn't give me one for being uninsured too).

A ticket for $650.

I'll type that out again for you in the back row.

SIX

HUNDRED

AND

FIFTY

DOLLARS
!!!

That's more than I earn in a week! That's nearly three weeks worth of savings towards the stamp duty for my apartment. Two and half weeks worth of rent.

It's an absolutely ENORMOUS amount of money! On top of the actual cost of registration and the CTP Greenslip (which is $900). Add to that the parking fine from a few weeks ago...and the speeding fine...my car is swallowing money like a monster. :'O(

I don't understand why this is happening! I've always been such a good driver! Now I'm speeding, illegally parking, scraping and driving unregistered like a complete loser.

What really kills me though is that for some reason, despite the fact I changed my address for my licence, Service NSW (which includes the Road Department) had my OLD address on file. How can that be?! Although as it turned out it doesn't look like the renewal slip came to my old place because I went there on my way home (I couldn't continue on to the ice rink :O( which was the cherry on top of a completely sucky cake) and the old landlord said he hadn't seen it.

So, the damn fuckers didn't even send it!! What the fuck?! The nice cop said I could ask for a review of the fine and see if they'd waive it, but I don't hold out hope...if they wouldn't take pity on me for speeding 7 minutes before I would have been going 20kms under the speed limit, I don't see why they would for driving unregistered and uninsured.

If the review fails you can take it to court, but like that'll happen! If I end up been found guilty I'd need to pay even MORE, and no way could I stand up in court and defend myself.

And here I was thinking the day was looking good because despite having forgotten to take my lunch with me to work I found my nurse's watch! It was on the shelf in the Returns Room of the library where I put my stuff, it must have fallen out. I was so glad to see it again!

However...that watch cost $7, so...it all pales in comparison.

And to top it all off? Because my car is more than five years old, it needs a safety check before I can register it. And absolutely no mechanic in the area is open on Sunday, there's no way I can register my car until Monday. I have no idea how I'm going to achieve it...I've got a shift at the library on Monday afternoon, so I'm not sure if catching a bus to Mrs S's and then back to the house to get the car and taking the car to my mechanic for the check will work because I'll only have 1.5 hours between Mrs S and the library. Although when I type it out like that....

On the other hand I feel like I need to get this looked at as soon as possible, apparently the check can take 15 minutes, but it all depends, it could end up been 40 minutes. If that happened in the 1.5 hours I'd be stuffed because the shift doesn't end until 6pm when the mechanic would be closed, so how would I even get my car?

So I guess on Monday morning I'll get to the mechanic's at 7:30 - Google says he opens at 8am, but who knows maybe he'll open early.

The thing is, I don't want to tell my parents about this...there's nothing they can do about it and even if they lent me money I'd have to pay it back so it's not like I'd save any money. However...Sunday night is when I usually go over there, but obviously I can't do that, even worse I can't go to church with Dad (either in the morning or the evening) because there's no way to get there by public transport (or at least not without catching two buses). But I'm a creature of habit so what am I meant to say? Although it's just occurred to me I could simply tell Dad (Mum will be away at a hotel) that my car's out of rego so I can't drive it without mentioning the supreme fuck-up that was the fine. I guess that'll have to do.

The other big disappoint is that I was supposed to see my grandparents' and little bro tomorrow morning (to thank the former for the money to go on the cruise and to finally give the latter that huge Ferrero Roche I got just after Christmas and which goes off at the end of this month), but obviously I can't drive there either. I rang the little bro to tell him my woes (he's had fines himself so he was most sympathetic) and he did offer to come and pick me up and even drive me to work, although we hadn't actually asked M and Grandpa if they were available for tomorrow so he called them up to ask, but they haven't got back to us yet, so who knows what will happen there.

Oh...and lastly, my activity tracker is still MIA, I called the library, but it wasn't in lost property, but then again...it's hard to describe, also the shelves are magnetic so maybe it's stuck to one of them. As for the Medical Centre, they didn't answer the phone so I have no idea if it could be there. I was planning to go there tomorrow to look, but...can't do that.

Okay then...let's wrap it up here, I still have my Russian to do.

Goodnight.

11:42pm: So in the daylight this morning the car didn't look nearly as bad as I feared, although the scratches are still most unfortunate. My poor poor car. I did actually try to use my auto paint to cover them, but I dunno how well that'll work, however, I'm in no position to spend any money fixing it, especially with the letter I got today.

Yes, when I got home from Mrs S's and the Warriewood Square and saw the envelope in the mailbox my spirits lifted! Until I picked it up and felt how light it was and then saaw it was from the Office of State Revenue.

They didn't overturn my speeding ticket! What a bag of dicks, I have sped one other time during my whole driving life (and there were no cops or cameras around soo they don't know that), it was 7 minutes before the school zone time ended and the fact that $180 is a financial burden on me (more than a shift's worth) fell on deaf ears. What a fuck-up.

Obviously, I'll have to pay it since I'm certainly not going to court to argue about it - it'd cost me even more money and time.

So yes,not the best of luck there.

However! Because my place wasn't very tidy and Mum had to go shopping for some stuff, as well as it being unseasonably warm today instead of coming over to the Granny Flat, we went to Warriewood Square where I finally found a pair of shorts suitable for work (it only took going to just about every clothing shop in the place!) and got my medication - which I hadn't been able to purchase before because my low-income card has expired so now I have to pay the full subsidised price, which is $26.

Note to self I owe Mum $150 all up now...but hey! The shorts were only $12, nice.

Right, better wrap this up and hit the hay, I've got a library shift and volunteering tomorrow so I need my zzzs!

Goodnight all!

PS Oh I almost forgot, I had the weirdest dream last night - I was on a cruise ship with my two brothers, my parents and another person I didn't know. Although shit got rather weird when Dad seemed to be drunk or something yelling at people and my brothers, the mystery person and I couldn't find our muster point during the drill.

Brain, what's your deal? LOL

11:17pm: Don't you hate it when some bad luck completely shits on your day? Because that's what happened to me, in the form of scraping the bottom of the driver's side of my poor Green Machine when I was trying to get out of a parking lot. Fucking parking lots, I swear to God, they hate me. :O( What a mess! It's not super bad, in fact you'd have to be quite close to it to see it, but I know it's there and there's a bit of dent. :O( Suuucks.

Also, the bloody ants have come back, I guess it's my own fault for not properly cleaning the oven pan I used to make marinated chicken legs last night. I mean I rinsed it and gave it a scrub, but obviously not good enough. I almost had a heart attack when I saw the little buggers this morning, I hate ants! I thought I got rid of them, but when I went over to the sink to fill up my water jug I saw them again. Ick.

But, as I indicated it wasn't all a bad day, firstly I got called in for a shift at the library, yay! Money! And I also finished up at Mrs S's in time to go to the gym (which I had planned to do before I got the call) although it was a bit of a close thing! I didn't get a chance to look for any shorts. I did go to K-Mart looking for some after I finished work, but it would appear it's too late, everything there is autumn/winter clothes. So now I have to wear my good shorts again tomorrow, dang.

I've also just remembered that I've forgotten to call the Red Cross which I really have to do before Friday to stop my donations. Because I can't really afford it.

Anyway, I better head off now, more work tomorrow! Plus I have to do my weekly clean-up in preparation for Mum visiting! I have admittedly let the place go a bit. I'm so lazy.

So goodnight!

11:36pm: As we all know I've been waiting for my new bank card to arrive, I checked the letterbox when I got home from Mrs S's, but no luck, so I was most pleased when the landlord's wife came later in the afternoon with a letter for me! At least until I opened it.

It was a speeding ticket! From last Tuesday! Fuck! I hadn't realised that in my rush to get to work on time I'd gone 50kms in a school zone. That was 10km over the speed limit!

FUCK! I already had and paid that parking ticket I got on that day, but a $189 speeding ticket?! I may as well not have turned up to work! I make $22 an hour and I worked for four hours that day...which if my maths is halfway decent means I'm out of pocket $100!

And just to rub salt in the wound, the time of the speeding ticket was 9:23am, literally seven minutes before the school zone ends! If I had have been actually late I would have been better off! In fact I would have been going 20kms under the normal speed limit of that road!

I was going to suck it up and pay it, as painful as it is, when I noticed that on the back you could apply for leniency if you have a clean driving record - which I do - although it also seemed to suggest that wasn't possible if it was a school zone related fine, it wasn't really clear. The letter also said that less than 4% of applications succeed. But [personal profile] nashira and her Nan said to me over Facebook I might as well give it a go.

Seriously, though, I hope I have some good luck here, I know a speeding fine is supposed to be expensive to stop you from doing it, but when you make minimum wage like me it's a total kick in the face. Not to mention a bit unfair, if kids are still going to school at 9:23 they're running pretty bloody late.

Anyway, aside from that I don't have much else to say except I did pop over to the Disability Service that I'm employed through now to drop off my timesheet and enquire about possibly getting more hours. They're gonna look into what the have and get back to me, I wonder if I'll be able to do any of them, working as a carer is quite hard work and a lot of responsibility so...

And, it's coming up on midnight so I better head off, I keep undersleeping, it's no good for me, dang it!

So I shall say, goodnight!

11:03pm: Regarding playing Russian Roulette with the parking lot across from the Library. It's got a one hour limit, but I have at various times - usually the weekend parked there for my shift - which is four hours.

And today I finally got a ticket, fuuuck. It was even more my own fault than usual because I only parked there because I was running late and thus didn't have time to park in the normal place where there's no time limit.

Although, the cost of a parking ticket seems to have gone down since the last time I got one years and years ago, back then it was 80 bucks! This one was $66 but with the 25% discount for paying it right away it went down to $49.50. Still that's like two hours of work. Shit.

Anyway! Now I don't have a cruise to recount any more I'm not sure what else to say! Except did I ever mention that I found my anti-chafing stick thing? Turned out it didn't fall out of my bag in the parking lot near the psychiatrist's office, instead it fell out here in my bedroom! So when I was unpacking two weeks ago, I found it! Hooray!

So, I need to get to bed but I'm caught up in I Shouldn't Be Alive, I really want to know how the guy gets himself out of this, he's trapped under a quad bike and coyotes are coming for him. O.o Luckily, he seems able to scare them away, but he's been out there for like 3 days.

Quad bikes suck.

But not much else to report, I did do some cleaning and ironing today so the place should be ready for Mum's inspection tomorrow afternoon. :OP Meanwhile, I'm still waiting to hear if I'm going to get together with some friends tomorrow evening. I hope so because one of them is going back overseas on Thursday, this will be my last chance to see her for a long time.

And now on that note I must go!

Goodnight all.

11:18pm: Well, after my rather exciting entry yesterday regarding the apartment and the floor plan, I got the very unwelcome news this morning via phone call that I was unsuccessful with the part-time Librarian job.

Well, fuuuuck. That job would have been great! Well...at least in terms of hours...I guess I wasn't all that sure about my ability in a supervisory role. Now, there's only the full-time library assistant job left as an opportunity. Which I haven't heard back about...and being full-time would mean leaving Mrs S. And all this job-hunting is making Mrs S a bit worried about what would happen if I did get a job, which could result in her letting me go, which would really screw me over in terms of finance.

Mum thinks that maybe I need to sign up with the company she works for, but on a full-time basis, my original thought had been to sign up on a causal basis, so I could still stay with my other jobs. But maybe that's not what that company is going for... Of course, that would leave me having to get used to multiple clients and as I've previously mentioned I'm not the best at first-impressions.

Moving on, it's quite a bit later than I realised - time flies when you're surfing the net and watching DVDs I must say! So I'll should wrap this entry up and hit the hay.

Oh! I finally got onto the Payroll Office for Mona Vale Library and as it turned out I did mark the 'no' box for claiming the Tax Free Threshold, but for some reason they didn't mark it in the system, so that's why I have such a big tax bill! It's been changed now, but still what a pain in the butt.

Right now, I better be off, although I'm intrigued by this doco I'm watching Hurricane 360 about Hurricane Sandy. that was some serious shit...I have to wonder did that policeman really keep his hat on during the whole storm? Because that's pretty amazing.

I almost forgot! After getting the news about the job, I went over to my parents place where I got to go swimming at the Retirement's Home pool. It also has a spa, so nice.

OK, definitely going to bed now. :OP

11:54pm: OMG, did I ever have shit luck this morning! I mean, it was shocking.

Firstly, I'd somehow turned off my phone alarm for Saturday so I din't wake up until 9:40 by someone from the library calling to see where I was!

Then in my rush to leave I forgot to put my keys in my pocket only realising as the door shut! In my one stroke of luck I caught the landlord before they headed out and they had a key to let me back in, thank God!

However, I didn't realise until getting to the library that I'd left my backpack with my wallet back at the house! Which effectively dashed my plans to go ice skating after work!

I mean come on, what the Hell was that?! To say nothing of the fact that I might lose an hour of holiday pay because since I only work on the weekends generally I'm not able to make up the time I lost by arriving at work nearly 45 minutes late. I need all my holiday time for, you know, when I actually want to go on holiday.

I'm also disappointed about the skating, I mean I probably could have gone after briefly stopping by at home to grab my backpack, but by then I was feeling pretty lazy and decided to watch some episodes of MacGyver instead.

I did though get some physical activity done when I walked up to Woolies later in the afternoon to get some food, but I probably undid that all by buying a Magnum from 7-11 on the way back, LOL. But that's how I roll.

In other news, in common refrain I really need to clean my Granny Flat up, I'm totally backsliding here! Lucky for me, Mum isn't coming over tomorrow morning with her friend, although they did come over some time today and looked in the window! Mum said she noticed my bed wasn't made, but I don't think she saw the rest... Still that's not excuse.

Moving on, I'm watching the Paralympics, it's the medley for the visually impaired, and hats off to these guys for being able to swim in a straight line! Whenever I attempt to swim without goggles and keep my eyes closed I zig-zag all over the damn place. In on memorable occurence I held up the swimming carnival at my primary school for like two minutes while I weaved between three lanes because of general crappiness at swimming and lack of goggles. Embarrassment central was only averted by the fact no-one in my House realised it was me.

Anywho, I'm also slacking on the Memes, I gotta pull up my socks with that, but not tonight because I should go to bed sooner rather than later.

I bid you all goodnight!

10:16pm: What did I fuck up? My car...my poor lovely car! I was pulling out of the Aldi parking lot at Mona Vale when I completely scrapped up the left side of my car! D: The sound of the metal crunching was so loud! I didn't pull over right away but as I drove past a big picture window I saw all the scraps and dents and it only got worse when I got out and took a closer look. Paint has been scratched off completely in places! There's areas that are dented in...and it's an absolute mess. D:

And now, when I drive around I feel like people are judging me when I drive because...well if you saw a car as badly fucked up as mine you'd wonder what the Hell they'd done too!

It was bad enough when I was reversing out of the parking spot and clipped my wing mirror, to complete mess up the car! I can't believe that happened! And I was so relieved because when I got to work at the library this morning the Librarian on Duty came up with a piece of paper and said that at the end of the month and into April the council is looking for people to man a booth in the library to let people comment on the situation with the Council Mergers (long story, some dumb thing the State Government is doing), which will be paid! So I was super quick to put my name down for a few.

Of course now...650 of those dollars now have to go to paying for the car! Well, thank God I have insurance because that's how much the excess is. The smash repairer said that had I been uninsured it would have cost nearly $4,000! That's half the cost of the car!

That was another patch of good luck, I found a smash repairer who was open on Saturdays and was able to bring the car in for a quote, the man there provides hire cars so I'll get one while mine is getting fixed. The only problems were he doesn't have a hire car to offer until Wednesday and secondly, he's not an NRMA (my insurance company) recommended repairer (although he does have a plaque from them in his office) so NRMA have to send an accessor out in person to sign off on the repairs before the panel beating can start.

Which better not be too long because the car's rego is due on 17th March and I need to get a pink slip! Actually the smash repairer guy said he could arrange that - he knows the mechanics in the area - but I still need to arrange the car's yearly service - I was hoping to do that together with the pink slip...

Oh and finally just to put an icing on the cake of bad luck...I called the NRMA from the car and stupidly sat in it with the aircon on, but the engine off and when the time came to turn the engine on so I could drive home....

The battery was flat as a pancake.

So like a total loser I had to go back to the Smash Repairers, where I'd just been to give the man the claim number and ask if he could give me a jump start. He very kindly did, but as a result I had to drive around for no good reason for half an hour and there's still a slight chance the car might not start tomorrow.

Ugh, so not a good day. Plus I was planning on going skating tomorrow morning to see what it would be like, but as I said I hate the thought of driving around in my car when it looks so sad. Plus, as I think I've mentioned previous that time o' the month is drawing closer and my knee is sore.

In other news, I haven't done the Memes is so long I can't even remember which ones I haven't done...but i think I've got it right starting with

14/2/16

:The Theme from Love Story (1970):

1) The very popular tagline for this movie is, "Love means never having to say you're sorry." Here's your chance to rewrite it. "Love means being able to laugh at/with each other."

2) The movie was famous for a montage of the lovers frolicking in the snow. Do you enjoy sledding, skating, skiing, snowball fights, snowmen, etc.? Or do you just want spring to hurry up and get here? Well, we don't get snow in Sydney...at least not since the 70s. I enjoy ice skating of course and also skiing although I haven't done the latter in ages. And as I'm in the Southern hemisphere it's now autumn and winter is coming...which I'm none too pleased about.0

3) In the movie, Oliver asks his father for $5,000. The money is required for wife Jenny's hospital treatment, but Oliver is too proud to tell his father why he needs it. Adjusted for inflation, $5,000 in 1970 is $30,000 today. How much would you be willing to lend a friend or family member without knowing the reason? Uh...I guess it depends? I don't have much money myself, but if they were really desperate I could probably stretch to lend $1000.

4) In the movie, Jenny is the daughter of a baker who owns a little shop in Cranston, Rhode Island. Think of the last baked goods you consumed. Were they home made? Did you buy them from a bakery, the grocery store, or a coffee shop, like Starbucks? It was a mini-blueberry muffin from Woolies, and it was very tasty.

5) In 1970, when the movie was first released, California's First Lady Nancy Reagan said she liked it but was upset to hear Ali MacGraw's character swear. What's the curse word you use most often? (Feel free to spell it with *'s, in case Nancy Reagan stops by Sat. 9) Hasn't Nancy Reagan died? I'm pretty sure she has. Anyway, the ship has sailed on the swearing :OP and I think you can guess what my favourite word is.0

6) Now 75, Ali MacGraw has let her famous hair go gray. She says she's glad to "look like a grown up." Do you feel your age? Or older or younger than your years? Nope, I feel way younger than my years. But then I've usually felt like that.

7) MacGraw and her Love Story co-star Ryan O'Neal are currently on tour in the play, Love Letters, and they're drawing big crowds of fans who remember them in their famous film. Tell us of another movie couple you felt had romantic chemistry. Uh...I dunno. No-one really comes to mind.

8) Red is the signature color of Valentine's Day. Are you wearing red right now? There's a few bits of red on my boxer shorts.

9) Because Valentine's Day is such a big day for chocolate ... would you prefer a large, solid milk chocolate heart or a small box of four assorted chocolates? I want the heart! Yum! :OD

21/2/16

:Sixteen Tons (1955):

1) 16 tons = 32,000 pounds, because there are 2,000 lbs. to a ton. Without looking it up, do you know how many ounces are in a pound? I haven't got a clue.

2) The singer describes himself as having "a mind that's weak and a back that's strong." Think about yourself. Which feels more powerful today, your body or your brain? Quite frankly neither. What with the sore knee and general discomfort and my lack of attention that resulted in severe car damage. :O(

3) The poor chap in this song has money troubles. Are you good at sticking to your budget? I am, but let's not discuss money right now.

4) Tennessee Ernie Ford snapped his fingers as he recorded this song. It's been said that while it's possible to snap your fingers of both hands, the noise is louder with your "dominant hand." (So if you're a rightie, the finger snap will be louder with your right hand.) Try it yourself. Did you find this to be true? I can't snap the fingers on either hand, I do't know why, but I can't. Maybe because I have weak fingers? Although I have been working on them and there's still no finger snapping to be had.

5) Mr. Ford appeared as "Cousin Ernie" in three episodes of I Love Lucy. What's your all-time favorite sitcom? Excluding The Simpsons I'm gonna say Frasier, great show. :O)

6) Tennessee Ernie took the money he made from his performing career and invested in a California cattle ranch. Think back to the last beef your ate. How was it prepared? It was a beef burger, which I had between two slices of toast with melted cheese and tomato sauce on the patty.

7) Mr. Ford passed away at age 72 in 1991. That year, Dr. Seuss also died. What's your favorite Dr. Seuss book? Eh, I don't recall actually reading that much Dr. Seuss. Although our family did have a "My First Alphabet" book which I really liked.

8) Gene Roddenberry also died that year. Mr. Roddenberry is best known as the creator of Star Trek. Who is your favorite Star Trek character? Eh, never watched it, so I don't have one.

9) Random question: We're having smoothies. What's your favorite? Dunno, never had a smoothie...I guess strawberry? Or maybe watermelon.

28/2/16

:The Times of Your Life (1976):

1) This song is all about memories. How far back can you remember? What's your earliest memory? I remember lying in the hallway of our house in Canberra.

2) The first line is "Good morning, yesterday." What do you remember about yesterday morning? That I was in a bit of a hurry because I had to get to work earlier than usual and even though I'd set the alarm earlier I didn't take into account that I need to wash my hair. I managed to do it all though.

3) This song was originally a 60-second jingle, featured in a commercial for Kodak film. Do you ever use film? Or are all your pictures digital? Nope, all digital now. I haven't used film in forever.

4) Who took the most recent photo of you? Uh...myself I think?

5) This week's featured artist, Paul Anka, was born in Canada and enjoyed appearing in a made-for-TV Perry Mason movie with fellow Canadian, Raymond Burr. Do you enjoy courtroom dramas? Hmmm, I do enjoy the odd Law & Order episode, but I perfer the police procedural more.

6) At 15, Anka won a supermarket contest by collecting the most Campbell soup can wrappers. The prize was a trip to New York. Do you enter contests and sweepstakes? Play the lottery? Wow, that's a fab prize! I wonder how many he had to collect though. Anyway, nah I don't, I need to save my money.

7) This year Paul Anka performed throughout Florida (Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Clearwater and Fort Myers). The Sunshine State is a popular vacation destination. Do you have a favorite spot in Florida? Never been, but Disney World sounds very cool.

8) In 1976, the year this song was on the charts, an earthquake hit China. Have you ever experienced an earthquake? Nope. They're not that common in Australia.

9) Random question: Do you know CPR? I know CPR, I know CPR. :OP Could I actually do it in a high pressure situation though? I don't know.

5/3/16

: FortyFive Seconds (2015):

1) The very bad day described in this song began promisingly enough. The lyrics tells us, "Woke up an optimist, sun was shining, I'm positive." How did your day begin? Hmpf! The same way.

2) This song refers to Monday morning. What's on your plate for Monday? Work at Mrs S's and then the day is pretty much open.

3) The lyrics request, "promise you'll pay my bail." Have you ever had to bail anyone out of jail? (Or have you been bailed out?) Nope on both counts!

4) Rihanna gets top billing in this all-star trio. She says that when she was a little girl, she used to walk around singing "A Whole New World" from Disney's Aladdin. What's your favorite song from a Disney movie? Ha ha, I like that song too! But my favourite would be Part of Your World from The Little Mermaid.

5) Rihanna dated outfielder Matt Kemp when he was with the LA Dodgers. Opening Day is less than a month away. Are you a baseball fan?
No, I'm an Aussie! Although we are getting games down here...

6) Kanye West also sings on this week's song. When he was a little boy, he spent a year in China with his mother. Have you ever lived overseas (as opposed to just visiting on vacation)? Really? That's interesting! Our family didn't spend a year but we did go for four months and spent two of them in Great Britain, my brothers and I even went to school for half a term. Good times.

7) Mr.West is part owner of the Fatburger chain. Do you like grilled onions on your burger? That name doesn't bode well...to answer your question though, nope don't care for onions at all.

8) This week's third artist, Paul McCartney, is a vegetarian. Think about your most recent meal. Did it include chicken, pork, or beef? Eggs or dairy? Chicken. I made my terrayki chicken legs, good eatin'.

9) Paul was born at 2:00 PM on a Thursday. Do you know what day of the week you were born? Do you know the exact time? Not sure of the day...but it was about 9:35pm.

Right, better wrap this up.

Wish me a better day tomorrow!

Goodnight all!

11:52pm: Do not appear they will be coming to fruition. :O(

Firstly I wanted to write a decent entry but I need to get my butt to bed ASAP so I can't.

But more importantly, I noticed today that I don't have anymore shifts at the library in the next two weeks! When I asked my co-worker today - who does the shifts - she told me that I'm not going to be able to count on getting work there unless someone happens to be sick! Firstly, due to worries about budget the library manager is going to work on the desk over the next few weeks even though various full-time employees are taking annual leave. And then after Easter the new library assistants will be starting. D:

This is very bad news for me because in April and May Mrs S will be away and I'm pretty sure I'll only be getting paid for 3 hours a week for those two months. I should still be able to pay for my rent and food with the money I make from my weekend job at Mona Vale, but I was going to buy health insurance and stuff! O.o And what about the gym? And petrol money? Dad said he and Mum can help me out, but daaaamn. And I was just about to let my co-worker know I'd be available any weekday for those eight weeks.

I'll have to call Dee Why Library and remind them instead, I guess, I haven't got a shift from them in ages but perhaps they've just forgotten about me? And perhaps Mona Vale will have shifts available too. One thing's for sure, I'd rather not have to stuff around trying to get Centrelink to get New Start.

Bah!

And now, I'm off...goodnight all.

10:56pm: So Operation Move has begun and some bad luck has come along to kick me in the butt...or rather the knee.

I guess it might be related to the fall I took in the parking lot yesterday, but this morning I woke up before my alarm when I moved my left leg and felt a very uncomfortable pain in my knee area. Ow.

As you can imagine this is most inconvienent, what with all the stairs and the kneeling and lifting I have to do at work to say nothing of carrying stuff down to the car. I got most of my clothes down along with the bed legs and one of the mattresses - the thin one because sleeping on that last night was not comfortable. However, my knee became progressively sorer during the day and now whenever I have to get up and walk around it hurts.

The furniture arrived at 1:30 and it all fitted nicely! Plus, as predicted I managed to fit quite a bit more in the drawers then Mum thought I would and the two small wardrobes will fit my clothes nicely. The place looks great :O) I just have to make sure to keep it clean.

This is most concerning, because the weather is supposed to go downhill on Wednesday afternoon so tomorrow I really should make a push to move more stuff over. But I don't want to overdo it on the knee because if I hurt it I won't be able to work - whereas I technically have another week until I need to be out of the granny flat here.

However, Mum wants to make the big push this week, which means I should go to the doctor and see what they say... If they think I should rest it I can let Mum know this and even get a doctor's note!

But yeah, what an ass!

Further to my bad luck I've just realised...the VCR/DVD combo recorder I have can't actually record DVDs it can only record from DVD to VHS, which is bloody useless. So I've ordered an analogue to digital cable thing which I can attach to my computer and dub my tapes through that onto my computer. It's coming by post though so it'll be a few days, so the dub plan has stalled.

Anywho, I better get to bed!

By the way, everyone pray and hope that Iowa doesn't fuck us up by voting for Trump, because the world is in a delicate place right now and we don't need that train wreck.

Oh I watched Australia's Got Talent tonight and I really loved it LOL. There's someone I want to vote into the Grand Final though, but I forgot what the website was. Damn.

But lastly...my laptop is being a dick and not playing music so I can't study my Russian. Damnit!

Well, it's too late to do anything now, so I'm hitting the hay.

Goodnight all!

11:39pm: Well, now I know how John McEnroe felt!

Why you ask? Because I don't have my new car yet! How can this be? Well, it's not terrible news, the pre-buying check went well, so it's definitely going to happen, but it was meant to go ahead at noon! Mum even went and got all the money out. The car chap wasn't answering his home phone though, so I sent her the mobile number and she called him to discover...

He's gone up to the Blue Mountains for the day/night. OMG, seriously! Apparently, he mentioned this, but I don't remember that. So basically, we can't buy the car until he gets back tomorrow! Even worse, we have no clear idea when that will be exactly, he said they'll get back in 'the evening'. But what does that mean? Evening can mean four pm to some people? To others, like me, it's when the sun goes down, which is currently after 7pm.

And Mum and I are going to see Phil Liggett tomorrow in the city at 7:30.

So let me just say that suuuucked! I was most upset! Mum did endeavour to cheer me up by pointing out that 5pm might be considered evening for some and also by taking me and her friend to a nice shop/cafe that serves enormous iced chocolates (which is totally true, I got a photo, I'll show you it tomorrow). Also saying that if all else fails Dad can go over tomorrow evening and do the buying. I'd rather he not have to do that, Dad's always tired in the evenings, the last thing he wants to do is go around buying cars.

So yes, I remain carless, which means I need to get myself to bed, since I'm running late.

The day hasn't been all annoyance though, for one thing I managed to sell my too big red shoes - which I probably wouldn't have been able to exchange - to Mum's friend Mrs Lampe - they fit her pretty much perfectly, so I haven't lost money there at least.

For another, I got an email saying my new fitness tracker was posted today, yay.

And lastly, I finally reached 45% on NaNo! Phew go me!

22401 / 50000 words. 45% done!

So, hey no need to get down. :OP Still annoying though...

Anyway, like I said I have to get to bed now, I hope I'll have good car related news tomorrow.

11:01pm: The phrase could probably have been uttered by Mrs S, because in my scattered-brainedness I forgot all about the fact I was supposed to start at 8am today! So there I was making what I thought was good time, when I got a call from her asking if I was all right.

I hurried to get there, of course, but just my luck there was road-work going on and then I got the red lights and then the traffic was slow near the park at the back of where Mrs S lives - every week they have a market there and in the end I got there at the same time I always do! Which was bad since Mrs S had to leave the house at 10am! Fortunately, we managed! Go me. Although Mrs S was a bit disappointed because the other carer was also late yesterday which almost caused a big bruhaha, so I felt like a real ass. :OP

The other reason for the phrase? Well, it being November 12th over in the US today I decided I would watch the new 30th Anniversary Blu-Ray edition I got to celebrate. Except...my blu-ray player has this problem where it's constantly switching itself on and off, so I couldn't watch it!

My laptop has a blu-ray player, but for some reason it wouldn't play the disc at all! WTF? Apparently this is a common issue, because despite the laptop having a blu-ray player, Windows itself doesn't have the software to play it! By this point, it was getting close to 10:04 California time, so I gave up on watching the whole movie and just watched the November 12th scenes on my old DVD player with a non-blu-ray disc.

After that, I hurriedly got dressed to take the car to Pittwater Road and also meet my parents and little bro for dinner at the nearby Golf Club that has $10 meal nights. Niice. The grandparents were supposed to come too, but after starting off lovely the weather went to Hell (there was even hail in nearby suburbs!) and it put them off. Dad also wasn't in the mood to be there because his scooter got caught up in a mini-flood and the engine got water logged and stopped working so he had to push it the rest of the way home!

For all that though, it was a delicious dinner - fish and chips and though it was very loud when we arrived the noise eventually calmed down. Phew.

I also got a ride home from the little bro in his new (2nd hand) car, after dropping off the Chery and putting up the signs. Nice car for sure.

So, now we play the waiting game, I've put an ad up on Gumtree for the car too, but all phone enquiries will go to Mum, so we'll have to see what happens there.

Meanwhile, I've been NaNoing and trying to solve my blu-ray problem, the NaNoing has gone quite well, but apparently blu-ray keeps getting new DRM software put on it and the free programs can't keep up! Bloody Hell, I'm glad I paid top money for something that won't work on my own computer!

And damn my blu-ray player! I bought that thing brand new and it was about $250! I expected it'd last longer than three years. Bull shit man.

And finally, I just realised today that the black dress I exchanged at Aldi yesterday isn't the same style as the one I had before! And it doesn't look nearly as nice so...now I have to try and return that too! I guess I've found something to do tomorrow when I get to Dee Why half an hour earlier.

Speaking of, I better head to bed soon so I can get up refreshed.

It wasn't all bad luck today though...I thought I'd lost my activity tracker...again...which really irked Dad, but I took a look around in my bedroom and found it!

Oh, and I sent my future self another email, with any luck it'll arrive in 2020, I'll keep you posted! ;O)

10:31pm: I'm just watching the recording of Homes Under the Hammer and the buyers of this particular house have laid the shiniest kitchen floor I've ever seen! Woooow. Although, I have to wonder how long that shininess would last. Probably not very long if I lived there, LOL, but man whoever buys that place, better love mopping!

But there's something that's not so shiny right now...and that is Dad's car...this morning proved to be a bit rushed, when I realised to my horror as I got in the shower that I'd left my necklace in the locker room at the swimming pool yesterday! Again!

Now, as you all know this happened before and I never found the necklace and needed to replace it, which lucky for me only cost like 40 bucks. All the same though, I couldn't believe that it had happened again! Perhaps there was still a chance it would still be in the locker I used. So I hurried to get ready and jumped into the car and headed for the swimming pool.

Anyway, to make a long story short I had the magnificent luck to find the necklace, charms in tact in the locker and I had enough time to get from there to Mrs S house, arriving on time even though I was starting half an hour earlier than usual. However...when as I walked up the driveway to Mrs S's I looked over my shoulder to make sure that the car was locked when I noticed...

Scratches! A huge wide scrape on the rear bumper on the passenger side! I could hardly believe my eyes! But I closer look confirmed it! Someone had side-swiped the car! It must have happened yesterday in the parking lot of the library because that was the only time the car was in a position to be hit on the side. Seriously though, is life kidding me?!

There wasn't much I could do about it, except take a photo and send it to Mum. She tried to call me, but I couldn't answer since work had started by then, but I did hear my phone since it doesn't go into silent mode until 8:30, so that sucked.

Anyway, after work I had to pop home and change clothes because I planned to continue onto the library after going to the parentals - Mum left me a SMS saying I should come by so she and Dad could look it over. However, Dad wasn't there when I arrived, he'd gone to do some work at school and wouldn't be back before I had to leave.

Mum took a look at the scrape though and gave me the bad news that it didn't look like it could just be buffed out and painted over by Dad, so I had to look up some car repairers, I found two, one of whom was a mobile person, so I had to send some photos to him and he said he'd give me a quote and the other place - which had the funny name of Lord of the Dings did operate from a workshop so I had to drive to it.

Mum thought it would be cost about $150 or thereabouts, but the Lord of the Dings guy took a look and quoted me $500 and two days work! Son of a bitch! $500 for a couple of scrapes? That's bullshit, Terry. But seriously, that's so expensive! I don't have that kind of money! I mean I do...but that's money I'm saving for my own car.

The other man hasn't got back to me, but I don't know if he'll have a better quote for me...

What a mess! Even worse I can't be sure it was some random jerk who side-swiped me or if I may have done it myself. I'm sure I didn't though...so now I have to pay for some asshole who ran off? Now I know I once did something similar, but only because I was sure I hadn't damaged anything and though it turned out I had someone had taken my number plate so the cops ended up tracking me down, or rather my father. But the point is, in the end I paid for the damage - although I probably shouldn't have for the car that was behind the car I backed into - that guy should have had his parking brake on...isn't that the law? But it doesn't seem I'll be so lucky.

And now it's way passed my bedtime because I have to start work half an hour earlier again because Mrs. S needs to get to the city by 12:30pm, so on that note I better be off.

Commiserations on my car issue would be welcome.

And to add insult to injury my lower abdomen has being a complete ass to me since the afternoon, I took some paracetamol, but it hasn't done shit. Boo.

Goodnight all!

10:32pm: Hmmm, that doesn't really roll off the tongue like "Hold your horses" does, but it's an apt subject heading for today.

My friend very nicely emailed the service report on the Citroen, but alas...it wasn't all that good (I even popped in to see my parents mechanic and he didn't think it was a good idea to purchase), I mean the car's fine at present, but there's a number of things that will probably need repairing within the next year and it won't be cheap to do so. It seems kind of pointless to buy a cheap car just so you can spend all your money on keeping it on the road! Might as well save up heaps of money and buy a new one with a warranty and all that jazz. There is actually one I couldn't help loving...it has green accents in the interior! It's also $15,000 so I don't think I'll be getting that one. But seriously...look how boss it is.

Anyway, I had to very awkwardly send an email to my friend telling her all this, I haven't heard back yet, so I'm worried she's really quite annoyed at me. I said I'd definitely buy it if she could lower the price to $4,100, but that's like almost $2,000 less than she asked for! Which is kind of an insult really, although it does match the high-end offer for such cars that I looked up online.

That's another thing...for such expensive cars they sure devalue quickly! No-one must want Citroens, I saw one that was $23,000 new and the resale value for it only 6 or 7 years later was just $500 on the low end! Seriously, WTF? That's a rip off. I wonder if my friend knew about this when she bought the car? Although it has given her a good 10 years worth of driving.

I hope I hear back from my friend, I was hoping to arrange a meet-up of some sort, although not for this weekend because I've managed to book myself in for a Saturday and Sunday shift at Dee Why Library! This is great because I had to turn down the Library at the Mall for Thursday after telling them I could do it because I realised that I'm all ready booked in for Mona Vale Library on that day! Bit embarrassing that.

I'm a little worried about the Saturday shift, because it ends at 4pm, which gives me 45 minutes tops to get to church before the organist will start to get tetchy that I'm running late. But I ain't turning down that money! Or experience for that matter.

On another note, I've just realised, N the landlord was supposed to install new lights at my place tomorrow, but since I need to work at the library, that can't happen. I'll have to send an SMS to let them know - although I'm not even sure N has the lights!

Plus, my cleaning from the weekend has been somewhat undone - seriously, I don't even know how I can do that! - so yeah.

Oh! And I almost forgot! I have a set 1pm to 6pm shift at Dee Why on Tuesday all the way to December! Sweet! :OD I feel loved. At least I've got luck there!

On that note I must be off, originally it looked as if I'd have to go early to Mrs S's place tomorrow - like 7:30 rather than 8:30, but fortunately she called to say nope, we can start normal time, even so, I better get to bed, I didn't get quite enough zzzzs last night and it kind of showed today, I even had a short nap not that it did much good.

So yes, goodnight all!

10:33pm: Oh this sucks so much! My Marge Simpson drinking glass that I've had for years and years has broken! D: Just now I knocked it over on the kitchen bench and it smashed up. Fuuuuuck! I should have seen this coming I suppose...I've knocked it over quite a few times, so I guess I'd weakened it.

Sigh...I've gone directly to EBay and while I couldn't find the exact same glass I did find a nice one, so I've placed a bid on it and a Lisa one and hopefully I'll win. Only problem...I only have the one glass! What the Hell am I going to drink out of now? Obviously I should have considered this issue before now, but yeah, hindsight it 20/20.

Moving on...I didn't go to the party this evening, I feel like a bit of an ass, but my friend disappeared on me! I guess she said she'd only call if she was going (apparently she has a new job, so maybe she got called in?, and I could have driven there myself, but...I wasn't sure I'd even know anyone there!

Shame though, I even got dressed up in the 80s theme before I decided not to go. Good thing I only dropped $2 on the mesh gloves and not $12 on leg warmers as well.

I also didn't go because I feel quite sleepy...I hope it's sleep-debt and not a cold or something, I don't need any of that crap. I think it might be the former though because I had enough energy to go ice skating.

I'm getting quite good at going fowards, I can even spin around on one foot for like one revolution now! But going backwards is not a happening thing...I just can't figure out how I'm supposed to position my body so I can see where I'm going. Obviously my inflexiblity has let me down.

Also, when I got there the skating was going anti-clockwise much to my relief, but about five minutes after I got on an announcement to go clockwise came up, dang. Although I wasn't as thrown off this time, but still weird...I'm sure its a new thing.

What else to report? Still working on the dress - Mum came over to the landlord's house for breakfast (they're friends after all) and I bought it down to show them - I attached the skirt to the bodice with pins. Mum is still of the opinion that it's going to end badly without a pattern. Also that I shouldn't have put the zipper in until last - which is probably advice I could have used. Bit late now though...

I'll keep you all updated as ever!

And now a meme or two: )

And it's quite a bit later than I thought! Time flies when you're memeing it would seem! So on that note I shall be off. It's going to be a busy day tomorrow what with the gym, food shopping and going to church with Mum and Dad.

10:21pm: I'm so embarrassed...you know how last night I was lamenting that I wouldn't be able to watch Wimbledon because I had to get up in the morning? Fat lot of good that did! Somehow I fucked up my mobile settings, I meant to put it on silent mode except for alarms, but somehow that didn't work, so there was no alarm! When I woke up and looked at my watch I saw to my horror it read 9:30am! FUUUUUCK.

I quickly grabbed up my phone to confirm this and saw that I'd missed some calls, unsurprisingly, I was an hour late for work! And without me Mrs S can't get ready in the mornings! So I called her right away, relieved to find she wasn't upset - however, the other carer was all ready on her way so there goes a day of pay for me. Even more embarrassing since I didn't answer the phone Mrs S was worried something had happened to me. Then I called my parents since I'd missed a call from them too and Mrs S had called them when I didn't show, and they had also been worried, not that worried, Mum assured me, she was going to come over and see what was happening, but she was going to have her coffee first.

But, God damn, how do these things happen? And whyyyy? I know I've put my phone on "Priority" mode before and the alarm has gone off, why not this time? I checked the volume and it seemed fine, plus I had put my phone right next to my bed so even at a half volume it should have woken me. Life can be such a dick.

However, life can also be good! Because I still went to do my volunteering at the library today and I received some seriously exciting news, apparently the Inter-Library Co-ordinator had been speaking with a higher up and they're going to put me on the Casual Library Assistant Pool at the Warringah Libraries too!

Ohmergerd! I could hardly believe it! What amazing luck! Go me! I didn't even have to apply! Although I've been volunteering for a year so how's that for a trial! :OP

I did tell the Home Library Co-ordinator and the Inter-Library Co-ordinator my tale of woe and I've been advised to set a back up alarm, so I have using one of my old mobiles. Although, the Home Library Co-ordinator feels something that is on an old-fashion battery is better, but here's hoping the mobile phone option will work. Seeing, I'm pretty sure those old-timey wind-up alarm clock tick loudly, and I can't abide by ticking clocks.

After volunteering I rang Mum to tell her my exciting news, and it turned out that she and Dad were in Dee Why so we met up for a bit, although it was too late for lunch so all I just helped them with making a few purchases - I had to go to the newsagency to buy an A3 sleeve and also Lincraft for those seam ripper things - two of them, one for Mum and one for M. I all ready have one, but when I went to Lincraft I discovered there's green handled ones! So I'm going to keep that one and give Mum mine. Which was supposed to happen on Sunday - there's a get together with the grandparents and Great-Aunt Mary.

But as it turned out...I had to make an unexpected drive to my parents house to pick up some wine for the landlord's, which was a bit annoying, hmpf! And I couldn't even stay to have half a cupcake, since I didn't park in a designated spot, I was in front of the next-door neighbour's garage (although I think she's away, that sort of thing doesn't fly).

And the final stroke of bad luck wasn't mine, it was Jonno's on Million Dollar Minute, he was back to play for $200,0000, but alas...was beaten! What a shame! He still got $75,000 so nothing to spit at, but I liked him and was hoping he'd go all the way.

Anyway, I better wrap this up as bed is definitely calling, my mobiles better not let me down! }:O/

8:31pm: I can barely keep my eyes open, but I'm so confused it's not like I didn't get enough sleep last night, I mean I got slightly less than eight hours I wouldn't have thought that would mess me up too much.

I also have a terrible headache, well...not that terrible, but it's rather painful, I took some ibprofen for it...and i think it might be kicking in, but it's taking a while. I'm so tired my eyeballs hurt! Weird indeed. I guess I should turn in early and eat my mandarin in case this is a budding cold or something.

Or maybe it was my busy day...although I didn't think it was that busy, I mean I went to my parents' place after volunteering at the library to check the mail situation, and I did have to do book selections at the library because the Inter-Library Loans Officer thought I wasn't coming by until Thursday so had all ready done what needed to be done. Book selection is quite intensive, so maybe that kicked my butt. I should probably eat more fruit and vegetables or something, maybe I'm slacking off there.

What else to report...well, I've just received an email from the people who are renting my parents old house, apparently the oven has stopped working over there! Shiiit. Plus I rang the insurance company because they sent me an SMS asking me to do so and found out that the "Loss of Rent" clause only covers you for when the entire place can't be used, so now my parents are going to get a hit to their pocket. :O(

Also the handyman hasn't sent the invoice yet, which the insurance company also needs. what's up with that? I'll have to call him again about it I guess.

And I finally used my initative to find out how to contact my parents' cleaner, because Mum never sent me his number :OP I got his email address instead.

9:32pm: This was a very unfortunate day, very unfortunate indeed. It started off innocently enough when I managed to put my phone pouch around my neck and return to the flat because I forgot my driving hat but failed to pick up my mobile phone! So I was without that.

Work went quite well, and after delivering some of Mrs S's stuff and her husband to their new house I headed to the shopping centre nearby that has a K-Mart where I finally found something that would do for a soaking bucket and a new pair of gray woolen gloves and a beanie.

However, my luck took a very, very bad turn when I arrived at the library for volunteering. I was pulling into a parking spot when I heard a strange noise, like I'd bumped into something...one of those weird bump things some parking spots have, but then when I reversed...there was horrible grinding noise and a man who was getting out of his car further down the parking lot looked up and winced.

You can see what's coming, I'm sure, the car seemed to be caught and hurriedly put it in park and jumped out to look and discovered...

The left side of the front bumper was caught on the little block thing (this motherfucking thing) and had been just about pulled off!!!

You can imagine my horror! After almost three months, with the parents due home in two weeks and I'd messed up my mother's car! A BMW at that!

Not to mention the car was all but stuck! I couldn't move it forward without causing further damage and reversing it would probably cause the whole bumper to come off! Fuck! Fortunately the man who had heard the noise came to my rescue - since my attempts to lift the bumper up to free it wasn't working - but he was able to manhandled it free and sort of put it back where it's supposed to be. But it was now loose quite noticibly so.

Fuck!

There wasn't much I could do at that point but head off and do my volunteering, which I did. I looked up "front bumper almost came off car" on Google, but it didn't really have much advice, however I did recall the location of the mechanic Mum used for the car when it got back-ended a year and a half ago, so when I finished my volunteering I headed there.

The good news...the mechanic says he can fix it for about $100. The bad news he can't fix it until Tuesday because he's flat out - and Monday's a public holiday for the Queen's Birthday. So I'm leery of taking the car anywhere until then, but I don't want to mention the damage to Mrs. S because it's awkward, so hopefully she won't want to move anything else until next Wednesday.

Oh and of course...I have to drop the car in at the mechanics at like 7am so I'll have to get up at some stupid hour to get to work on time. Shit.

Then to top all this off when I got home I took a look at the Car website to see that the car I was talking about the other day has been sold. Which I suppose isn't too surprising, but it certainly brought me down.

Although after everything I have to wonder if this is a sign that I shouldn't buy a car...But having got an email from the parental units I did bring up the idea what with Mrs. S moving and the two bus situation I will soon be faced with.

So yes, this day has been decidedly unlucky and messy. :O/ Oh and I forgot to mention another aspect of bad luck...my allergies were trying to kick my ass today, itchy nose and sore eyes...I was going to buy some Clartyne for it but the car shit happened.

However, in closing, there's some good news, the new lid for the washing machine arrived today! Early! I didn't think the courier would actually leave it on the veranda of the main house - they probably shouldn't have done that - and N is going to put it on tomorrow and hopefully set the washing machine up in the shed next to the flat on the weekend.

So...perhaps there is light at the end of the day. I also got to enjoy lasagna for dinner, so there's that...

On that more positive note I shall wrap this up here.

Goodnight all!

10:47pm: It continues to be completely shitastic...the winds have been classed as cyclonic at times and even when they aren't it's just been a constant gale all day long.

However, I'm in a way better position than the tenants who know live at my parents old house in Cammeray, this morning I got a rather desperate call from them, the wild weather had taken it's toll and the glass roof of the sunroom had broken in, leaving water to pour in! Figures this would happen when Mum and Dad are far from home and won't be back until June! Neither the tenant or I had any idea how insurance worked - do you have to call them first before undertaking work like with a car? Or what?

Normally when you sustain such damage to your house you call the SES, but with the wild weather they were already responding to so many calls the tenant couldn't even get through on the phone! It looked like the only thing that could be done would be to call a glazier who could fix the roof, but who knew where to begin with that?! I had to go to work so it wasn't like I could be much help...I sent Mum an SMS, but who knew when she'd answer it?

After I got home from work and shopping I decided to call NRMA even though I don't have Mum and Dad's policy number - it's at their house and I wasn't about to go back out in this weather a couple of trees have fallen down in the street here! - and was making quite good progress until...I was informed that they didn't hold the insurance for the actual building. Do'h!

However, alls well that ends well, turns out that Mum had got into contact with the person in the other townhouse, there's a weird situation where despite being a duplex it's on a strata title, which means the insurance is through that, blah blah. But it seems to be all sorted out now, phew!

But still the rain and wind and even some lightning continue and are set to do so until tomorrow evening! Shiiit. At least I have my long trench coat though, to think my mother wanted me to give it to Vinnies!

And I've just remembered...I'm using my mobile as a hotspot because the internet has decided to die - probably due to the rain - so I better not keep going on here, there is still 9 days left in the month and I don't want to run out of mobile bandwidth.

So on that note, I shall wrap it up here! Wish me luck tomorrow...

Goodnight all!

Powerless

Mar. 5th, 2015 09:49 pm

9:26pm: Well, there's sure been a fuck up in the electrical cables that supply my flat, basically whoever used to own this house did something screwy with the laying of said cable, it's supposed to be at least half a metre underground, but instead it was practically on the surface! With all the bad weather that's been happening lately it's a surprise that the power has only died now. But son of a bitch, what a mess!

Although at least I'll be able to go to bed early because once again the district nurse fucked up and didn't come so I need to get to work at 8am again tomorrow. God damn.

After that I went to the library for my volunteering, good times as ever, but on my arrival home I discovered the power wasn't on in my flat. I didn't notice at first until I saw that the clock on my microwave wasn't on. Nor were the lights working. I went down to the main house but the power was fine there, so it was fast becoming a huge mystery.

In the end an electrician friend of there's came over to check out things too and he couldn't figure out what the problem was either, but after unplugging everything in the flat then doing something with the fuse box that got everything going again. The root of the problem seemed elusive...although we noticed the plug for my laptop looked a bit dodgy, so I didn't plug that in. Instead zip watched Million Dollar Minute and then headed to the mall to get a new plug part, the bit that plugs into the laptop itself is fine.

I also picked up one of those portable power things that you can charge up and then use to recharge your phone or whatever when out and about with no access to a power point. It was on special and also available in green so woohoo.

Not long after returning home and turning on the stove to prepare a late dinner, N called me to ask what if anything I'd just turned on and to turn it off right away. A few minutes later he and C practically ran out of the house telling me to turn off everything! Apparently the cable was exposed and arcing and melting a fence that was put up in preparation for the dogs and probably ready to catch fire!

Since all this happened at almost 8:30pm, there was no chance of fixing it tonight, so poor N had to go out to Bunnings to get a really long extension cord to run from the main house to the flat so I can at least keep my fridge going, charge my phone, plug in my TV and Foxtel and chill my water. Oh and make use of a small lamp.

And to top it all off, the flat is a total mess and N and C were quite displeased about that, now embarrassing, I really need to clean this place up and keep it clean! That's what I need to do tomorrow after work and the gym, so wish me luck.

For now though, I'm turning in.

Goodnight all!
