10:16pm: What did I fuck up? My car...my poor lovely car! I was pulling out of the Aldi parking lot at Mona Vale when I completely scrapped up the left side of my car! D: The sound of the metal crunching was so loud! I didn't pull over right away but as I drove past a big picture window I saw all the scraps and dents and it only got worse when I got out and took a closer look. Paint has been scratched off completely in places! There's areas that are dented in...and it's an absolute mess. D:

And now, when I drive around I feel like people are judging me when I drive because...well if you saw a car as badly fucked up as mine you'd wonder what the Hell they'd done too!

It was bad enough when I was reversing out of the parking spot and clipped my wing mirror, to complete mess up the car! I can't believe that happened! And I was so relieved because when I got to work at the library this morning the Librarian on Duty came up with a piece of paper and said that at the end of the month and into April the council is looking for people to man a booth in the library to let people comment on the situation with the Council Mergers (long story, some dumb thing the State Government is doing), which will be paid! So I was super quick to put my name down for a few.

Of course now...650 of those dollars now have to go to paying for the car! Well, thank God I have insurance because that's how much the excess is. The smash repairer said that had I been uninsured it would have cost nearly $4,000! That's half the cost of the car!

That was another patch of good luck, I found a smash repairer who was open on Saturdays and was able to bring the car in for a quote, the man there provides hire cars so I'll get one while mine is getting fixed. The only problems were he doesn't have a hire car to offer until Wednesday and secondly, he's not an NRMA (my insurance company) recommended repairer (although he does have a plaque from them in his office) so NRMA have to send an accessor out in person to sign off on the repairs before the panel beating can start.

Which better not be too long because the car's rego is due on 17th March and I need to get a pink slip! Actually the smash repairer guy said he could arrange that - he knows the mechanics in the area - but I still need to arrange the car's yearly service - I was hoping to do that together with the pink slip...

Oh and finally just to put an icing on the cake of bad luck...I called the NRMA from the car and stupidly sat in it with the aircon on, but the engine off and when the time came to turn the engine on so I could drive home....

The battery was flat as a pancake.

So like a total loser I had to go back to the Smash Repairers, where I'd just been to give the man the claim number and ask if he could give me a jump start. He very kindly did, but as a result I had to drive around for no good reason for half an hour and there's still a slight chance the car might not start tomorrow.

Ugh, so not a good day. Plus I was planning on going skating tomorrow morning to see what it would be like, but as I said I hate the thought of driving around in my car when it looks so sad. Plus, as I think I've mentioned previous that time o' the month is drawing closer and my knee is sore.

In other news, I haven't done the Memes is so long I can't even remember which ones I haven't done...but i think I've got it right starting with

:The Theme from Love Story (1970):

1) The very popular tagline for this movie is, "Love means never having to say you're sorry." Here's your chance to rewrite it. "Love means being able to laugh at/with each other."

2) The movie was famous for a montage of the lovers frolicking in the snow. Do you enjoy sledding, skating, skiing, snowball fights, snowmen, etc.? Or do you just want spring to hurry up and get here? Well, we don't get snow in Sydney...at least not since the 70s. I enjoy ice skating of course and also skiing although I haven't done the latter in ages. And as I'm in the Southern hemisphere it's now autumn and winter is coming...which I'm none too pleased about.0

3) In the movie, Oliver asks his father for $5,000. The money is required for wife Jenny's hospital treatment, but Oliver is too proud to tell his father why he needs it. Adjusted for inflation, $5,000 in 1970 is $30,000 today. How much would you be willing to lend a friend or family member without knowing the reason? Uh...I guess it depends? I don't have much money myself, but if they were really desperate I could probably stretch to lend $1000.

4) In the movie, Jenny is the daughter of a baker who owns a little shop in Cranston, Rhode Island. Think of the last baked goods you consumed. Were they home made? Did you buy them from a bakery, the grocery store, or a coffee shop, like Starbucks? It was a mini-blueberry muffin from Woolies, and it was very tasty.

5) In 1970, when the movie was first released, California's First Lady Nancy Reagan said she liked it but was upset to hear Ali MacGraw's character swear. What's the curse word you use most often? (Feel free to spell it with *'s, in case Nancy Reagan stops by Sat. 9) Hasn't Nancy Reagan died? I'm pretty sure she has. Anyway, the ship has sailed on the swearing :OP and I think you can guess what my favourite word is.0

6) Now 75, Ali MacGraw has let her famous hair go gray. She says she's glad to "look like a grown up." Do you feel your age? Or older or younger than your years? Nope, I feel way younger than my years. But then I've usually felt like that.

7) MacGraw and her Love Story co-star Ryan O'Neal are currently on tour in the play, Love Letters, and they're drawing big crowds of fans who remember them in their famous film. Tell us of another movie couple you felt had romantic chemistry. Uh...I dunno. No-one really comes to mind.

8) Red is the signature color of Valentine's Day. Are you wearing red right now? There's a few bits of red on my boxer shorts.

9) Because Valentine's Day is such a big day for chocolate ... would you prefer a large, solid milk chocolate heart or a small box of four assorted chocolates? I want the heart! Yum! :OD

:Sixteen Tons (1955):

1) 16 tons = 32,000 pounds, because there are 2,000 lbs. to a ton. Without looking it up, do you know how many ounces are in a pound? I haven't got a clue.

2) The singer describes himself as having "a mind that's weak and a back that's strong." Think about yourself. Which feels more powerful today, your body or your brain? Quite frankly neither. What with the sore knee and general discomfort and my lack of attention that resulted in severe car damage. :O(

3) The poor chap in this song has money troubles. Are you good at sticking to your budget? I am, but let's not discuss money right now.

4) Tennessee Ernie Ford snapped his fingers as he recorded this song. It's been said that while it's possible to snap your fingers of both hands, the noise is louder with your "dominant hand." (So if you're a rightie, the finger snap will be louder with your right hand.) Try it yourself. Did you find this to be true? I can't snap the fingers on either hand, I do't know why, but I can't. Maybe because I have weak fingers? Although I have been working on them and there's still no finger snapping to be had.

5) Mr. Ford appeared as "Cousin Ernie" in three episodes of I Love Lucy. What's your all-time favorite sitcom? Excluding The Simpsons I'm gonna say Frasier, great show. :O)

6) Tennessee Ernie took the money he made from his performing career and invested in a California cattle ranch. Think back to the last beef your ate. How was it prepared? It was a beef burger, which I had between two slices of toast with melted cheese and tomato sauce on the patty.

7) Mr. Ford passed away at age 72 in 1991. That year, Dr. Seuss also died. What's your favorite Dr. Seuss book? Eh, I don't recall actually reading that much Dr. Seuss. Although our family did have a "My First Alphabet" book which I really liked.

8) Gene Roddenberry also died that year. Mr. Roddenberry is best known as the creator of Star Trek. Who is your favorite Star Trek character? Eh, never watched it, so I don't have one.

9) Random question: We're having smoothies. What's your favorite? Dunno, never had a smoothie...I guess strawberry? Or maybe watermelon.

:The Times of Your Life (1976):

1) This song is all about memories. How far back can you remember? What's your earliest memory? I remember lying in the hallway of our house in Canberra.

2) The first line is "Good morning, yesterday." What do you remember about yesterday morning? That I was in a bit of a hurry because I had to get to work earlier than usual and even though I'd set the alarm earlier I didn't take into account that I need to wash my hair. I managed to do it all though.

3) This song was originally a 60-second jingle, featured in a commercial for Kodak film. Do you ever use film? Or are all your pictures digital? Nope, all digital now. I haven't used film in forever.

4) Who took the most recent photo of you? Uh...myself I think?

5) This week's featured artist, Paul Anka, was born in Canada and enjoyed appearing in a made-for-TV Perry Mason movie with fellow Canadian, Raymond Burr. Do you enjoy courtroom dramas? Hmmm, I do enjoy the odd Law & Order episode, but I perfer the police procedural more.

6) At 15, Anka won a supermarket contest by collecting the most Campbell soup can wrappers. The prize was a trip to New York. Do you enter contests and sweepstakes? Play the lottery? Wow, that's a fab prize! I wonder how many he had to collect though. Anyway, nah I don't, I need to save my money.

7) This year Paul Anka performed throughout Florida (Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Clearwater and Fort Myers). The Sunshine State is a popular vacation destination. Do you have a favorite spot in Florida? Never been, but Disney World sounds very cool.

8) In 1976, the year this song was on the charts, an earthquake hit China. Have you ever experienced an earthquake? Nope. They're not that common in Australia.

9) Random question: Do you know CPR? I know CPR, I know CPR. :OP Could I actually do it in a high pressure situation though? I don't know.

: FortyFive Seconds (2015):

1) The very bad day described in this song began promisingly enough. The lyrics tells us, "Woke up an optimist, sun was shining, I'm positive." How did your day begin? Hmpf! The same way.

2) This song refers to Monday morning. What's on your plate for Monday? Work at Mrs S's and then the day is pretty much open.

3) The lyrics request, "promise you'll pay my bail." Have you ever had to bail anyone out of jail? (Or have you been bailed out?) Nope on both counts!

4) Rihanna gets top billing in this all-star trio. She says that when she was a little girl, she used to walk around singing "A Whole New World" from Disney's Aladdin. What's your favorite song from a Disney movie? Ha ha, I like that song too! But my favourite would be Part of Your World from The Little Mermaid.

5) Rihanna dated outfielder Matt Kemp when he was with the LA Dodgers. Opening Day is less than a month away. Are you a baseball fan?
No, I'm an Aussie! Although we are getting games down here...

6) Kanye West also sings on this week's song. When he was a little boy, he spent a year in China with his mother. Have you ever lived overseas (as opposed to just visiting on vacation)? Really? That's interesting! Our family didn't spend a year but we did go for four months and spent two of them in Great Britain, my brothers and I even went to school for half a term. Good times.

7) Mr.West is part owner of the Fatburger chain. Do you like grilled onions on your burger? That name doesn't bode well...to answer your question though, nope don't care for onions at all.

8) This week's third artist, Paul McCartney, is a vegetarian. Think about your most recent meal. Did it include chicken, pork, or beef? Eggs or dairy? Chicken. I made my terrayki chicken legs, good eatin'.

9) Paul was born at 2:00 PM on a Thursday. Do you know what day of the week you were born? Do you know the exact time? Not sure of the day...but it was about 9:35pm.

Right, better wrap this up.

Wish me a better day tomorrow!
