11:15pm: As you may be able to guess from my subject heading, my fears from yesterday about getting totally blasted by my boss did not come to fruition.

Phew!

And also a fine demonstration of my ability to catastrophise. This as you can imagine is a bit of a problem for me because it usually results in me thinking the absolutely worst and worrying needlessly about what's going to happen and how bad it's going to be, when in the end it all turns out fine.

Shakes head, I'm a silly duffer.

I'm also in a bit of a rush because today is gym day and there was also a going away get together for a person leaving the library service and since it was at the pub across the road from my house I decided to pop in since the person is question is one of the selectors. Then when I got home I planned to write for the McFly July prompt I'm up to, but then I got inspired to finally try and create my own Pusheen beret.

Some years ago, I lost my beloved Pusheen beret on the bus and never found it. This was very upsetting because the beret is no longer available to buy and attempts to secure a second hand one have failed - which is not surprising because it's like the cutest thing ever.

So a couple of years ago, my mother bought me a beret that was a similar colour from the French market thing that happens every year in a nearby suburb. My hope was that I could get it professionally embroided with Pusheen's face, but alas they're not able to, I guess the face is embroided on before the beret is actually shaped to become a beret.

My only hope is to embroider it myself, which I've dilly-dallied on doing until tonight, but when the inspiration strikes... it's kinda lopsided though and only half done.

Of course, having done that I've found a website where the beret seems to be available to buy? I'm not sure I should trust this...because the hat was sold like eight years ago now, would an internet shop that's not eBay really have some just sitting around? And if so, why have I never stumbled across it before?

And now, my internet is done so I can't even check, that's not irritating or anything...

I guess that's my cue to exit, no meme today, but I've almost finished the little ficlet so at least I won't fall any further behind on McFly July 2024.

ETA: Research shows that the website is fake, hmpf! If I want to a knockoff Pusheen product, I'll make it myself :OP

11:22pm: I just realised I didn't actually post the entry I made yesterday! o.O I have no idea how that happened, so I just posted it then...and we shall never speak of it again. :OP

Anyway! It was sunny today, so before I headed off to work, I washed my bed sheets, the fitted sheets aren't dry yet, so I've left them out on the line, but the top sheets are good. :O) Although, it was a bit of a rush to get to work, because I lounged around in bed this morning so I by the time the sheets had finished it was nearly a quarter past 12 and work starts at 12:30! And timekeeping is very important indeed, especially after the 3 month probation review. :OP

But I got to work on time, and wow! With tomorrow being a public holiday the returns were crazy! It took a good two hours to get through them all! Luckily, we weren't that busy patron-wise, so we (there's four people on the Sunday shift) managed to shelve everything. I'm also quite proud of myself for solving a mystery regarding some CDs, apparently a booklet was misplaced in one cardboard case, but I managed to track it down! Good thing my memory didn't fail me :OP

After finishing work I had to pop by home because in my rush this morning, I forgot my mobile phone and I don't like to be out and about without a way to communicate, also I wanted to take the washing in (see above) and then it was off to church. I thought Dad might come, but he didn't, which was a shame, especially since no other musicians showed up either! So it was a fast mass tonight.

10:58pm: Yeah...I caved in and did it, because...those Simmies are worth it. Actually I've just downloaded the Create-a-Sim demo and am about to give it a go as soon as I wrap up this entry (so it's going to be short) but I hear the new features are totally amazing!

In other news, I appear to have heartburn, very annoying. I guess I shouldn't have eaten that Nutella so fast...oh well, live and learn I guess.

What else to report? Today was quiz day at TAFE, I got 9.5 out of 10 because I gt a question half wrong, primarily because I was late last week and missed out on some info that wasn't on the hand out but was discussed in class. Whoops. Should have listened closer when the teacher went over it just before the test! My mistake.

And the rain continues on...in fact parts of Sydney has got so wet that a few suburbs over a building site collapsed and now an apartment building is sort of teetering above it. Talk about scary...fortunately all the residents of the building have been evacuated, but I do wonder where they've gone, I guess the building company will spring for a hotel or something?

And despite the rain I managed to get my laundry done today, I'm quite pleased with myself! Although I'm not sure if my blue jeans will dry by tomorrow morning so I should track down my black jeans, they're around here somewhere since they weren't in the washing basket.

That's pretty much it for today...I'll let you know what the Create-a-Sim demo is like - I'm sure you're all dying to know! ;O)

11:04pm: Yes indeed, I don't have a eye-catching subject line for today, but...when do I? LOL.

Anyway! I remembered what I wanted to write about last night, a clothing tragedy! My jean 3/4 pants got a rip in them yesterday! Damnit, it's been coming for a while - and they are old pants, as well as being second hand. All the same though, I love those pants. I did see some other ones at the Mosman Vinnies, but they didn't have cuffs...I like cuffs. I shall have to investigate second hand shops tomorrow I guess, fingers crossed I find something good!

In other news, my fangirling has entered a realm of patheticness, I have made a card to send to Plushy as he recuperates from his back operation, LOL. If it actually gets to him he'll probably think I'm about ten as I drew a little picture of him and everything. And of course, it's in English...who knows how well he can read that. If I had decent handwriting I could have Google Translated it and copied it out in Russian and really given him a laugh - because Google Translate is fail. :OP

Anyway, I'll send that tomorrow after I get some glitter, because figure skating costumes have sequins, yo!

Censorship

I think most of us are probably against censorship on principle, but … do you think it should vary depending on the impressionable age of the readers? Or is it always wrong? How about the difference between ‘official’ censorship by a government or a school system, as opposed to a parent saying No to a specific book for their child?

I think generally if you're going to need to censor a book to make it readable for children, then the child is not ready for that book, although a lot of censorship seems to come about because of adult opinions on what children should or shouldn't read, like Harry Potter or censoring the 'n-word' in Tom Sawyer. That censorship is wrong, narrowminded and I dare say dangerous.
Having said that I think there is a difference between official censorship and a parent saying to their kid that they can't read a book, in the latter case it's more a personal opinion that's contained. In the former though...well that's widespread and is creepy as Hell... I don't want to see any of that!

Hmm, deep!

And I should wrap this up...things to do tomorrow after all, like going to the gym, applying for those library jobs (finally!) and calling the uni.

10:09pm: Wind, thunder, lightning and all that! Seriously if the DeLorean was here it would have been able to find 1.21 giggawatts of electricity no problem!

Although for some reason, rather than break the hummidity as storms useually do, this one has just made my room here suddenly humid! I've had to turn the dehumidifier on just to combat it.

In other news, I've been making and importing my RP journals to DreamWidth today and during the course of making one, I happened to get this Captcha. I for one had no words, seriously, sometimes Captcha is just an ass.

This morning I went to the gym - my father forgoed it so I didn't need to keep an eye on him after all - and I finally got to go swimming and debut the new swimcap and googles! My hair felt a bit damp afterwards, but it doesn't smell of chlorine, so I can say it was a success! As were the goggles. Yay! Although I won't be going to the gym tomorrow because there's working for THE MAN to do. Bah.

Anyway, I have to go and clean up the kitchen so I'll ( Meme now! so I can go do that! )

Oh man, I'm thirsty! Damn humidity!

I'm off to get water and clean that kitchen!
