10:51pm: Yes, it was Trivia Night tonight and our team won! :OD This is somewhat unusual! Although only one or maybe two teams that we usually go up against, which might have had something to do with it. We also had a person who doesn't often come, who knew about music (our weakness!) there, who also picked up three bonus points for us. :OD

The prize for first place is a $75 food/drink voucher for the pub, so next time we have trivia dinner will be free. Hooray! :OD

So yeah, a great night!

What else to report? Not much, we did have the meeting with the big boss of the library today, I was a bit concerned that it was gonna be one of those super long, boring meetings, but fortunately no, although it was a bit light on details. On the plus side it looks like the library is doing really well, so yay!

It's 11pm now, so I better head off, short entry syndrome strikes again, but hey short and sweet ;O)

I also put a load of washing which has finished so I better get that out as well.

Goodnight!

11:09pm: Yes, damnit! While on the bus this afternoon on the way back from Newtown (the modem seems to be up and running with the new cable, but the Foxtel remains screwy - also I somehow got no email notification about my bill being overdue and was this close to getting cut off!) when I got a phone call from the boss.

Long and short of it they don't need me to work on Thursday's anymore! FUUUUCK! It could have been worse I suppose, like I could have lost my job outright, but son of a bitch! Unbelievable...If I ever find out the motherfucker behind casualisation of the workforce I will kick him in the balls so hard! Now, even if I wanted to I wouldn't be able to go back to Newtown to live. :O(

I have attempted to console myself with the thought that maybe this means my ship will come in with the library job, I have an interview there at 9:30 on Monday. I called the parish priest to make sure he can give me a reference and Mum's going to be here (I think Mum and Dad might be moving back here this weekend?) so I can be sure my hair will be nice and stylish before I head out. FINGERS AND TOES CROSSED EVERYONE!

I'm wondering...with all this bullshit going on if I shouldn't just buy some paid account time for my Dreamwidth so I can get me some icons and change the mood theme, just to make me feel not so irritated by life. Plus the Aussie dollar has gone up to a new high in the last few months - not parity, but still in the 90s.

And...I don't really have much more to say, although I've totally been lazy as Hell since getting back from Newtown and I haven't carried the rest of my baskets upstairs. I better do that tomorrow because the cleaner is coming on Friday.

I don't really have anything more to say, so I'll wrap this up here. Send me all your good vibes, friends!

Goodnight!

9:57pm: After all the sheninigans yesterday and really getting on M's nerves I made up for it today helping her with her speech at the Book Lover's Club today, carrying the photos and holding them up when necessary. M doesn't like making speeches, but the club really enjoyed it, I did as well, M has had such an interesting life what with Grandpa having been in the Navy and moving around all the time. I heard all sorts of stories I'd never heard before. In fact one lady at the meeting wanted M to write out her memoirs, LOL! I don't think she'll be doing that, but she might make copies of the speech she wrote out.

After the speech there was lunch which was full of yummy slices and whatnot, in fact there was way more of that than sandwiches, ah well.

But dinner was left-over lasagne my Grandpa made before he went on his golf trip, there was enough of it left that I can have some for lunch tomorrow too, yum! Oh and I had a salad as well, I really must make sure to eat right when I'm back at the apartment sometimes I'm just so lazy especially on gym nights I neglect to do it. Bad me :OP

And I also got to take a swim today in the outdoor pool at the retirement home, which was good, although the pool was too shallow to do all my usual stuff.

And I borrowed a book from the library, Hillary Clinton's memoirs, it's proven to be very interesting so far, I wonder if she really will be president one day, that'd pretty damn cool.

And now it's almost bed time so I'll be off!

In other news, I finally got back to the gym, I did my weights, which leaves me to wonder what to do for tomorrow since you're not meant to do weights on consecutive day but I'm not sure if my foot is up to the treadmill and whatnot, since using the rowing machine left it achey, but only a little bit, so fingers crossed.

And now I've left stuff rather late so I still haven't done the Memes, whoops... or done any work on my assignment (ahem sorry that's gonna start up again...). So busy, gawd.

11:16pm: No, uni hasn't started up again, but volunteering at the library has, yay! :OD I went there today and quickly got back into the swing of things, good times, good times. Although I was meant to go on Friday, since that's the day Mum has off, but since I still didn't know if I'd be able to do it because someone else volunteers on that day off I went.

As it turns out, the Friday person can no longer volunteer on thta day so I can take it, the thing is I don't really want to because I won't be able to change it once Dad's back on his feet and also the class I enjoy taking is at 12:30 and I won't be able to go to it if I volunteer on Friday. So yeah, quite a pickle there. I'll have to discuss it some more with Mum tomorrow.

After my volunteer work I headed to Chatswood to deposit my wages and these cheques I got from the gas company thanks to Mum (the gas and electricity next dor used to be in my name, but now it isn't since the new tenants moved in). Unfortunately while leaving the trainstation my bag got slightly caught in the gate, and broke one of the zips off D: On the plus side, my mother gave me a $50 voucher to a bag shop up in Crowsnest, which I'll have to visit tomorrow and see if I can't get something good.

Anwya ties moving on, so I better do the Meme!

Only Five

If you had to pick only 5 books to read ever again, what would they be and why?’

OMG, that is indeed an awful question! I guess....
1. The Mysterious Affair at Styles my favourite Agatha Christie book
2. Polgara the Sorceress my favourite David and Leigh Eddings book
3. All That Remains my favourite Patricia Cornwell
4. Back to the Future - the novelisation by George Gipe
5. George III: A Personal History by Christopher Hibbert

Well, here's hoping I wouldn't live to regret those choices!

And now I must be off, my mother likes to wake me up at like 8am no matter what so I have to make sure I get my eight hours.

anonymoose_au: (You Get a Job!)
11:31pm: Indeed so, today was the job interview - which I managed to have moved to 11 am, volunteer work at the library and then to the apartment to show prospective tenants around.

I'm not sure how the interview went, I hate this new system where they ask you to tell them about a time you... I can never think of an answer when I'm on the spot like that, it's a bloody pain in the ass. Still, they've promised to get back to me by the end of next week. Fingers crossed that I get an offer and it's for more hours than I have at the newsagency otherwise I might as well not take the job.

After that I got on the bus and headed to the train station for my volunteer job, I managed to just miss a train, so I had to wait half an hour for the next one, which wasn't so bad and I got there a little after 1pm. On the way to the library I decided to get a small serving of chips at a shop and may I just say small serving my ass! It was huge! I only managed to eat half of them, and I was going to take the rest home to Dad because he likes to make cold chip sandwiches but by the time I arrived at the apartment at 5:30 I was rather hungry so I reheated them and finished them off. Although they weren't particularly delicious...shame.

The first three prospective tenants were all extremely interested in the place so now we just have to wait for their references to come in and pick one of them with Mum's help of course, although she ran late so was only there for the fourth prospective tenan (a couple) who didn't seem all that interested after they saw the size of the place.

And interesting fact, I didn't wait in the apartment since I don't live there any more, I went into the meeting room on the ground floor, set up my laptop and discovered I could connect to my internet from there. Niiice.

Anywho, since time is getting on, here's the Memes!

Booking Through Thursday

Category

Of the books you own, what’s the biggest category/genre?

Is this also the category that you actually read the most?

Ha ha, well, thanks to all those Sweet Valley books I have I guess I would have to say teenage romance. Heh. I don't actally read them that often though, that would probably go to the fantasy and sci-fi books. :O)

3x Thursday

Schedules

1. What’s your schedule like during the week normally? What do you do, where do you go, etc? I work on Monday from 9:30 to 6 and Saturday 9:30 to 2:45. Aside from that and my volunteer work on Thursday things are pretty wide open. Sunday is Merlin Day! :OD

2. What’s your schedule like on the weekends? And er, I answered that up in question 1, whoops.

3. What would your ideal schedule be? A nice job with normal hours! Because then I'd be living in the normal world, rather than this sort of limbo thing. It kind of messing with my how I plan my time and stuff.

And The NaNoWriMo Meme!

Day 1 - Have you participated in NaNoWriMo before? If so, which years and what end result? If not (or even if so, for that matter), what’s your connection to writing? Why do you want to participate this year?

Day 2 - What’s the title of your story? Why did you choose the name you did?

Day 3 - Pick one of your female characters. Introduce your readers to her, from her point of view and her words only.

Day 4 - What genre is your novel? Why did you pick it?

Day 5 - Name two songs from your playlist that you feel are connected with your novel in some way, and explain how they are.

Day 6 - What is your one biggest stressor related to forcing yourself to write at least 50,000 words in a span of 30 days?

Day 7 - Where’s your favorite place to hunker down and write?

Day 8 -List your current, most up-to-date word count. Are you satisfied with your progress thus far?

Day 9 - Have you told anyone else you’re doing NaNo this year? Who? What was their reaction?

Day 10 - How does your love of writing manifest in non-NaNo months?

Day 11 - Ever tried collaborative writing (such as play-by-post roleplaying)? If so, what do you think of it?

Day 12 - Imagine you’re behind in your word count goals (even if you’re not) and are going to pull an all-nighter to catch up. Screencap a playlist of inspirational music you would use to get you up to speed.

Day 13 - Name a male character from your novel. Describe him through the point of view and words of the female character you introduced in question 3 (if they never interact, pick another female character).

Day 14 - Is the sexuality of your characters a large part of your novel’s story? If so, are there characters who deviate from the heterosexual “norm”? In what way?

Day 15 - Do any of your characters have a disability or mental illness? If so, how does that affect their development throughout your story?

Day 16 - At around the half-way point, it bears mentioning that most of us wrimos have other obligations beside simply hitting that elusive word count. What else do you have going on in your life (work, school, children, neurotic pets, etc.), and just how much are you shafting it to win NaNo?

Day 17 - In what time period is your novel set? Is it in this world or another?

Day 18 - Who is the antagonist in your novel? What drives their actions?

Day 19 - Which authors or books have inspired your own writing the most, and why?

Day 20 - If you could meet one fictional character from any book you’ve ever read, who would it be, and why?

Day 21 - With about 10 days left to this arguably traumatic experience, what are your plans and goals for your novel, should you successfully complete it?

Day 22 - If you’ve participated in or won NaNo before, what happened to your other novel efforts? Still in the revision process/querying publishers/scrapped it immediately/etc.

Day 23 - Do animals play any part in your story? If so, how do they add to it?

Day 24 - Is religion featured in your novel at all? If so, which ones? If it’s/they’re your own creations, describe it/them and how it/they play(s) a part in your characters’ lives.

Day 25 - What are the names of at least two of your main characters? How did you choose their names? Well, there's Galfridus and Blodeuyn, who are Geoffrey's parents. I selected his father's name, Galfridus because when I looked at Geoffrey's webpage that it is the Latin version of his name. And as nice as following the article's suggestion that Arthur was Geoffrey's father's name, I decided to go with Galfridus.
As for Blodeuyn I got that name of a Welsh name site, it sounded pretty so I picked it :O).

Also, ewwww, what the Hell is this storyline, incest, how was that even logical jump? Although I suppose he acted pretty damn suspiciously when asked, I would have jumped up and being all. "You sick fucks, get out of here."

Anyway, enough about Law & Order - I let you know if Jack McCoy shows up though :O) - and on to today, a very busy day, I went to my volunteer job and then afterwards went to Newtown, stopping at the post office to see if the book I ordered had arrived, it wasn't there, but it turned out it was able to fit in the mailbox, yay!

Harder

All other thing being equal, would you rather read a book that’s hard/challenging/rewarding or light/enjoyable/easy?

Man...I gotta tell you, I'd probably go for the second option, my learnings! I is not using them. :OP But sometimes I enjoy a nice long book with an involved plot, or soemthing non-fictional like a autobiography or something historical.

And now the The NaNoWriMo Meme

Day 1 - Have you participated in NaNoWriMo before? If so, which years and what end result? If not (or even if so, for that matter), what’s your connection to writing? Why do you want to participate this year?

Day 10 - How does your love of writing manifest in non-NaNo months?

Day 11 - Ever tried collaborative writing (such as play-by-post roleplaying)? If so, what do you think of it?

I have indeed! In fact I'm engaged in a number of verses and threads right now! Although I've dropped the ball a bit since NaNo started. :O( Which sucks, also LJ keeps having trouble with its notifications so sometimes I miss things.Hopefully I can sort everything out! The Rest )

And exciting news! Colin Morgan is in Australia, apparently he's going to be on the Circle, which is this truly atrocious midday show, I don't know if I could even bear watching it even if he is on it. He has to find a better agent thought!

What else to report...oh yes! My mother has intervened with the Newsagency Boss, she went in this morning to explain what I had meant to say but hadn't been able to because I freeze up in confrontational situations like this. Anyway apparently the Newsagency still might have use for me (which in all honesty I should take up because I do need money), but I'll have to wait til the beginning of next week because the Big Boss needs to discuss it with the Co-Boss.

Hmmm, it occurs to me though I'm 27 years old, is it incredibly lame of me to get my mother to help me with my battles? Even if it did work?

More importantly, the library people were very happy for me! :OD They want to hear all about my experiences at the ABC. Although at present I'm not sure if I can still volunteer there, we'll have to see how the Newsagency works out, I may be working 'full-time'.

10:30pm: Yes, today was my last day at the Library, and sniffle, I discovered that I wasn't going to be interviewed for the job that was going there after all. I guess I wasn't qualified enough yet. Lame...

So, back to the newsagency it is. I've got my Saturday shift tomorrow 9:30 to 3:30, which is a bit of shame since this is primo RPG time. However RPGing is difficult at present due to LJs notif system not sending notifs! Lame.

But good news! While I was working after lunch one of the library staff came over and told me the sandwich shop had found my library cards! They must have fallen out sometime last week! Of course, I got the new Stanton Card all ready, but I saved $4.25 on the other one. Sweet! :OD That's never happened to me before!

I'm thinking I might need a new wallet since that pocket is useless now.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to just haning out, tomorrow my plans include working and going to church and Sunday, I want to just hang out and relax!

Friday 5

Friday is Wriday

1.Dr. Seuss’s first published book was And to Think That I Saw it on Mulberry Street!. What’s the most interesting thing you’ve witnessed on your street?

Hmmm, nothing much, except for that time this truck game out to cut down some trees at like 8pm on a Sunday night. What was that all about?

2.In The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins, a boy removes his hat to pay respect to the passing king, but each hat is somehow replaced by a bigger, fancier hat. If you’re a hat person, what’s your current favorite? If not, under what circumstances did you last wear a hat?

LOL, hat. I do enjoy hats! Particularly my Ferrari hat, good times, good times. It used to be my driving hat, but now I don't have a car, so...I just wear it for fun. Mum hates it though.

3.In If I Ran the Zoo…, a boy fantasizes about how fantastic the zoo would be under his administration. What’s your local zoo like, and how do you like it?

That would be Taronga Zoo, I haven't been there in ages, but it was a lot of fun, although I think the Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo has those huge enclosures which are better for the animals. Not that they're tiny or anything at Taronga, but you can't really compare.

4.In Green Eggs and Ham, the main character refuses to taste a certain dish until, just to get Sam to leave him alone, he gives in and discovers that he likes it. When did something like this happen to you?

Ummm hmmm, er, I dunno...it's been a while, I usually don't try new things and when I do, I usually don't like them. Oh! it wasn't exactly badgering but I did try Thai food recently and found it quite tasty. That was good. :O)

5.The Foot Book contains a lesson about judging others based on their feet. Feet seem to be something people have widely polar opinions about! How do you feel about feet, and can you think of someone in your life who has especially nice feet?

Feet are freet, and you don't notice them until they start hurting, as can sometimes happen especially when you work on your feet.
I don't know anyone with really nice feet, they're not my bag.

Well, I wrap this up now since I can't sleep in that much tomorrow and the last two days had me waking up way too early.

Yes, I woke up a whole half hour earlier than usual and after taste testing the cupackes, I realised there was no way I could take them to work.

I also found out what was wrong with them. Some how I started off following the wrong recipe! So I didn't have enough sugar in them, that's why the taste so odd.

I really don't know what to do with them. I remade them to the recipe and they were delicious as always AND after getting icing sugar I made very yummy chocolate buttercream icing. I suppose I could put the icing on the not so good cupcakes. I hate to waste food...maybe I can take some to the Mum and Dad.

As I said, they don't taste bad they just don't taste like I expected them too.

Anyway, I am tired, so I better make this quick.

Friday's Question

13/08/10

When you were a kid, what did you want to be “when you grew up”? What do you do now? What do you want to be “when you grow up” now (the second time)?

I've discussed this...a lot. So you're all clear.
But I want to be a librarian one day! C'mon me, I can do it!

Friday Fill-In

And...here we go!

1. Music is fabulous! Except when you get two lines of a song stuck in your head - as I do.

2. A nice bowl of cereal is what I like first thing in the morning. (Although I won't be having it tomorrow because there's no cereal in the apartment.)

3. The first thing I said this morning was: "Uuuugh!" I wasn't annoyed I just felt like answering my mother that way, LOL.

4. Chicken nuggets and shoestring chips; it's what was for dinner tonight.

5. It's all been a pack of liiiies. (And I can't remember what song that's from...not the one stuck in my head.

6. Finishing up the memes is what I feel like doing right now.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to
watching the crime docos, tomorrow my plans include going to the university library and applying for jobs and Sunday, I want to enjoy lunch back at the parentals with the grandparents and the big bro!

Friday5

No Superstitious Here!

1. What’s something good that there are thirteen of?

A baker's dozen of donuts or other similiarly sweet treats! ;O)

2. Have you known any black cats?

Nay.

3. Among people you know, who seems to have an uncanny knack for games of chance?

Not that I know of...it's a family joke that Dad won part of a lottery way back in the 70s and used up all the family's luck, alas.

4. It seems to me that while people seem to have all kinds of tokens of good luck, such as lucky articles of clothing or lucky rituals or lucky figurines, nobody has a lucky food. What would make a really good good-luck food, and what would seem to be a bad-luck food?

A good luck food? Cupcakes of course! :OD
A bad luckk food? Prunes...that could end badly...

5. Not that any of us believes in luck, but what’s something that happened this week that seems to have been very lucky for you?

Hmmm...I can't say I can think of anything outstandingly lucky, but I did get a call to come in for a job interview next week at the Parish Support Unit in the same building a volunteer at. I tried to get a job there once before, but I wasn't volunteering the library then, so that could be a boost! Fingers and toes crossed.

And that's all of the memes.

Goddamnit, my eyelashes are falling out at an alarming rate and getting stuck in my eyeballs, it fucking hurts. What's that all about? Eyelashes are supposed to protect your eyes. Sigh...

Righto, I've got nothing more to say really so I shall be off.

Jul. 10th, 2010 10:37 pm
anonymoose_au: (Book Love)
9:58pm: So I was playing The Sims 3 today, or trying too, it would just freeze up on me! It's very bizarre, because I opened an earlier saved game and it's working fine (knock on wood), maybe there's too many characters in the other one. Apparently you can get this mod that can keep the neighbourhood numbers down. I'll have to look into that.

I also went to the Sydney Uni Library, aaah it's been a long time since I've popped on down there to look up books...good times, good times.

I was going to go Church but the top of my left foot was sore...I don't know what that's all about.

I still can't get my favourite channel to work...so annoying! I really must get onto the Foxtel people about that.

And now memes!

The (Other) Friday Five

Random!

1. If you had to have a Siamese Twin, who would you want it to be and why?

Well it'd have to be my identical twin wouldn't it...ahem...really I wouldn't want a Siamese Twin I just saw a documentary today on twins conjoined at the head. I don't know...

2. Would you rather be connected at the top of the head, or at the waist and why?

The waist, better chance of being successfully seperated!

3. Make up a definition to the made up word "kituxilicious". Use it in a sentence.

The sight of so much food struck Mr. Cosington as been entirely too kituxilicious.

4. Do you think there is something ultimately good about everyone?

Most of the time, except for people like Hitler or Saddam Hussein...but I suppose when they were kids maybe even they had something decent about them.

5. Would you relive your high school days? Why/why not?

Hell yeah! I loved school and life was easier back then, good times, good times...

Friday's Question

8/07/10

What is your astrological zodiac sign? Do you think your personal characteristics match that of your astrological zodiac sign?

Capricorn. And from the site provided it says I am:
Practical and prudent
Ambitious and disciplined
Patient and careful
Humorous and reserved

Pessimistic and fatalistic
Miserly and grudging

And the only thing that remotely corresponds with me is Humourous, other than that, that list of traits doesn't represent me at all!

Saturday 9

:Go Your Own Way:

1. When was the last time you were told to go your own way?

Well, when I got fired last year that was basically said. My fellow employee dropped me off at my parents house at least...

2. What one experience has strengthened your character the most so far?

Well, probably that job, despite the bad way it ended, it gave me skills, bit of confidence, stuff like that. And it gave me something to do while the parental units were away overseas for all those months.

3. What's your favorite thing to do on a rainy day?

Pretty much the same thing I do every day, LOL, I'm not one for the outdoors...

4. How long can you go without your cell phone?

Probably for a good long while, if not permanently. Although it does come in handy if you get lost and need to call somewone for directions.

5. Do you wish you were somewhere else right now?

Nope! Loving it here in the old apartment! Shame to have to leave it tomorrow. :O(

6. Of all the people you've ever known, who have you most feared?

Ummm...gee...I don't know...I don't know if I've ever feared anyone.

7. Do people tell you that you look your age?

Nope, they say I look younger, always good to hear for a woman, LOL! :O)

8. Your ex shows up randomly at your house, what do you say?

N/A.

9. Do you believe everyone deserves a second chance?

Usually, unless they're a pedophile or something...ugh.

And that's all for today...

I say goodnight to you all!

10:55pm: Hell yeah! Good stuff! Although, there's no food here, I had to go and buy some fish from the supermarket, except all of them had batter of one kind or another, I have no idea what that's all about.

In other news I got an email from one of the old work colleagues, they've been called back to the ATO to give info for a police check. Alas, I haven't heard anything :O( Damn, that doesn't bode well...or maybe they're just being really slow? I spoke to Dad today (he was giving me his footy tips) and he says he's been praying I find a job, I should get something for that. :OP

What else? Ah yes, went to the Library today, interesting stuff to do with cross checking donated books to see if we already had them, there was quite a few we didn't! Including a very odd book that proported to be about 'Everything Men Know About Women' except every page was blank, LOL.

Anywho! Back to the Simming...people keep moving in wearing inappropriate clothes, honestly, I wish there was some sort of clothes chooser thingo.

Anywho, bring on the Memes!

Friday Fill-In

And...here we go!

1. Layers of cake...most delicious!

2. I could really use some employment getting insight.

3. I'd be willing to bet
that none of the rain we had today went into the Dam.

4. Any firework displays scares the dog.

5. I'm fond of
crossword puzzles, they exercise the brain!

6. It's fun, but I definitely play The Sims 3 too much!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to
seeing how Le Tour De France goes, tomorrow my plans include hanging around Newtown, enjoying the apartment and Sunday, I want to get home in time to see the final episode of this series of Doctor Who!

Friday5

I Want The Fairy Tale

1. In the fairy tale of your life, who is the knight in shining armor?

Ummm...no-one really, I don't need no knight to save me, bitches, I'm a modern woman!

2. In the fairy tale of your life, who is the evil villain?

Anxiety, damn it!

3. In the fairy tale of your life, who is the loyal, comedic sidekick?

My friends in general, what a fun bunch! Really though I'm more the loyal, comedic sidekick type.

4. In the fairy tale of your life, what comes right after “Once upon a time…?”

A girl was born...and all she got for Christmas was a bath ball toy...unlike her older brother who got half the toy shop!

5. In the fairy tale of your life, who is the fairy godmother?

Wow...I guess I'd say my Grandpa, he paid for my first degree at Uni!

Four For Friday for July 2, 2010

Q1 - Wages & Work: In California, nearly 200,000 state employees could see their pay rate plunge to the minimum wage rate of $7.25 an hour if the state controller follow orders from Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's office. In a letter to the state controller, Schwarzenegger's administration ordered the controller's department to reduce the wages of state workers unless a budget is reached soon. If your employer cut everyone's wages -- for just one or two weeks -- to the minimum wage, would you continue going to work?

For a minute there I read that is $2.75 an hour and it was WTF?! Anyway...I would because our minimum wage - unlike the US it would seem - is enough for a single person to get by on, at least for a few weeks.

Q2 - Sense of Self: If you suffered from amnesia, do you think you could reconstruct your sense of self from your social media profiles and feeds (in other words, would you recognize that person)?

Depends really...if amnesia made me I don't know...normalish I might wonder why I'm so bizarre and obsessive, LOL! But yeah I've written enough stuff I think to give me a good sense of self.

Q3 - Gas Talk: When you're getting gas for your car, do you talk to the other people getting gas for theirs? What about talking on your cell phone... do you ever do that while getting gas?

Don't have a car anymore, but I when I did, nope...seems like a weird thing to do. Also the mobile phone thing...apparently you're not allowed to do that!

Q4 - Fashion Trends: Name at least one fashion trend you were once really jazzed about but aren't into anymore?

Don't have one, I'm not much for fashion.

Righto..that's all for the Memes, but here's a quiz I did yesterday which struck me as rather intriguing.

You Are Cheerful

You are a friendly and welcoming person. You know how to make the best of a bad situation.

You tend to think most about yourself. You can't help but look inward and introspect.

You are smart and inquisitive. You often aren't satisfied until you know the "why" behind something.

You have the most fun when things are easy for you. You like to relax totally and completely.

And oh exciting news! I'm sure you've all done it, but there's a survey up for a possible BTTF game! What fun! I'd totally buy it!

So on that fandomy note, I shall be off!

Also there's my uni course! I've got to post on the board and shit like that, bad enough it took me more than a month to find where the actual course readings and whatnot are set out. No prizes there!

Anyway! Tomorrow morning I have to go pick up some more stuff for the boat, but it should be nowhere near as heavy as the liferaft so I should be cool in carrying down to the office.

Anyway, I have to turn in soon, so have a meme!

Record It!

10:34pm: So after work today I popped into the nearby second hand shop and looked at their collection of DVD recorders, they had quite a few, but one in particular caught my eye for $115, name brand and everything! So I've brought it home, plugged it all in and recorded Good News Week just now and it came out very nicely indeed!

Now I'm seeing how dubbing tapes go, seems recording in Long Play makes the audio a little strange, but not much I can do about that.

Hmmm, I don't think I've watched that many Nature movies... there's Homeward Bound, I really enjoy that one.

Manic Monday

30/08/2009

Are you usually late, early or right on time?

Late...but not to work! Because my boss will kill me seriously!

What would be harder for you, to tell someone you love them or to tell them that you do not love them back?

Uh...I suppose the latter because holy crap how awkward would that be, I sure hope I could make a quick exit after that!

Which would you rather have: a high salary or job satisfaction?

Job satisifaction, bitches!

Speaking of jobs, I have to finish off the big job application tomorrow and I also have to go pick up the lift raft tomorrow morning and not be at work too late!

That being the case, I better get myself to bed!

TGIF!

Apr. 25th, 2008 10:49 pm
anonymoose_au: (Awww...He was my Best Friend)
10:11pm: Today was ANZAC Day, and the mass this morning went quite well although there were some problems with stuff not showing up on the Power Point properly.

Also, I don't think I got enjoy sleep this week, so I'm tired and stuff, that being the case I'm gonna keep this quick.

I've been spending most of the day writing my fanfic since I discovered this morning my readership has returned! My co-worker Terry must have lifted the curse after all, LOL!

Speaking of work, I seem to recall that I was poking around the net at work yesterday when I really shouldn't have and I probably forgot to delete the cache on Internet Explorer. Which means I might have to ahem, pop by work to do so, since I don't wish to get my ass in trouble. (Yeah, I know surfing the net at work is bad - I try not to do it and most of the time I succeed)

Anyway where was...oh yeah so I wrote that new chapter, but I haven't posted it yet, because like I said I'm tired and I'm not sure if it's actually all that good and I don't want to post it in case it isn't.

Righto, here's Thursday's Memes:

3x Thursday

Half Full or Half Empty?

1. No matter what country you live in, do you think the future is bright (or gloomy) in terms of the economy? Why/why not?

Well, damn that's hard to say...I'm thinking on the whole...bright. But then if the US goes down the plughole it'll probably take the rest of us with it.

2. What about the current food shortage going on in the world? What are your thoughts about this?

Now I didn't hear about this until just yesterday and damn me if that isn't freaky as anything! I mean what the Hell are we going to do when we run out of food? Of course right now it seems to be effecting poor countries the most. I haven't seen any food shortages here... Cross fingers.

3. What 3 things (among others!) do you think need significant change to make the world a better place? Why?

Fresh water for all - Diarrhea is a major cause of death in poor countries

Better food distrubution - Tonnes of food is thrown out every day (or maybe every week...I hope so, every day is just horrible) while people starve, it's a crime!

Free and fair elections - Because dictators suck (see Zimbawe, Iraq under Saddam etc).

Booking Through Thursday

Springing (Not down here)

Do your reading habits change in the Spring? Do you read gardening books? Even if you don’t have a garden? More light fiction than during the Winter? Less? Travel books? Light paperbacks you can stick in a knapsack?

Or do you pretty much read the same kinds of things in the Spring as you do the rest of the year?

I've never read a gardening book in my life, I don't care what season it is...I do read travel books, but mostly for story related purposes. Basically I read the same all year round, eclectically (I often start books and then leave off...and shit,I think I have a seriously overdue library book...I just checked and oh fuck it's like a month overdue, must call library tomorrow - that's going to be the biggest library fine I've ever had... OK about 7 bucks, but still shit. - Er...ahem, I digress...)

Thursday Threesome

::The Convenience of Extra Cash::

Onesome: The-- endless onslaught of junk snail mail: how much do you get each week? I'm thinking maybe we could use it as insulation in our houses...

Hmmm...not that much actually, but that might have to do with the fact that a lot of the time, whoever delivers it doesn't bother to stick it in the mailbox, just under where the mailboxes are so it gets thrown out by someone else. Still that stuff is totally annoying and a horrible waste of trees besides.

Twosome: Convenience of-- a quick in and out? Do you have a convenience store nearby that is really convenient for you?

Sorta, but I don't usually go there because the food is so much more expensive...but sometimes I do if it's late or I just want an ice cream or something.

Threesome: Extra cash--? When you need some, where do you get it? ...the ATM? ..."write for over" at the store? What is this 'cash' thing you speak of ?

There's an ATM at a convience store near me, which is really good, because last night I had to go there to get money to pay the plumber. Although I usually do things on my credit (actually debit) card since it's cheaper.

Right, so yeah, I'm tired, and now super worried about that library book...that means I owe like $10 to the library...damn...I suck. What a waste of money too. I can't believe I forgot about that book! I'll have to go home after church tomorrow for sure so I can return it...although that will give me two extra days of fines. Damn.

On that sour note, good night to you all.

6:07pm: I have just recently returned from my day long library hunt for the Uni assignment. Unfortunately the Uni assignment doesn't actually invole writing down anything I found out, instead I've gotta write out some weird shit about information seeking and stuff. Bah! But now I really want to read the articles on the database, I mean how fun!

I wonder where my nail clippers have got to, I need to cut my toenails, because when I took off my shoes when I got back here there was owww.

So anyway, I woke up this morning when M phoned asking if my little bro had arrived and all that (he had), but I didn't realise until I put on my glasses that all his boxes were here too! They weren't last night, he said a friend brought them over, I hope so, because if he took the car...Seriously, M and Grandpa would kill him and then me.

Here's not here at the moment, I think he's working, but I wonder if I should call him, he should really leave a note. I wonder if he'll be back late, because last night he stayed up after I went to bed and I slept very poorly 'cause he was watching TV and banging around the place (must have been getting the boxes). Can't afford that tomorrow, with work and all.

I can't find the nail clippers, this sucks. Oh wait, here they are, under a pile of books on my table, LOL.

Right, I should be working on the assignment, but while I do that...

Right, I've been doing this instead of writing anything on my assignment...LOL! So I better haul ass and do that now.

I'm going to have such a amount of library fines it's not funny! I totally forgot to renew them, dang...I'm really too poor to pay them...I suppose technically you don't really have to because unlike the library in the city they don't suspend your borrowing ability if you've got overdue stuff. But of course you have the library staff riding your butt about it everytime you come in.

In other news though I just saw the coolest thing on C&I, this guy was investigating what happened to this fellow called D.B Cooper and when to find a 727, since that's the plane the guy jumped out of. So anyway he found at 727 and guess what he found! The guy who had the plane was turning it into a holiday house to live in! LOL! That's like the best idea ever! He even had some of the original seats so you can still pretend you're flying through the skies. Great stuff! If I ever found an old plane I'd totally do that.

I'm currently waiting for my parents to ring so I can go pick 'em up, and I've just had a thought...last time I was over Dad said I need to stop bringing my laptop over because I set it up on the table downstairs and it pisses him off. But my George III story is on here! Hmmm, I guess I'll just bring out the USB, but damn I hate that his laptop has larger font. But then I'm going to a party tomorrow so it's not like I'll be hanging out with my own laptop for very long.

I was gonna do more of the survey, but I'm sure my parents will be calling any moment, so I'll just do the Friday Memes.
