Pokes The Internet
Dec. 5th, 2014 11:36 pm10:21pm: Well, it's working better than it was last night, when it wasn't working at all, but it keeps dropping out without saying the internet is disconnected, and when I go into the dos thing and ping google.com I get a response and everything. What's up with that?
Well, knock on wood, it seems to have decided to work properly, good!
Moving on, I'm still wondering what to do with my music situation - I could get a new phone I suppose, but firstly I don't have any money, secondly I discovered a trick for deleting something on the phone called a data log, I don't know what's in it but it was taking up a shitload of space, so I was constantly getting storage alerts, but now that I've cleared it, there's lots of room. That being the case I don't really need a new phone.
I have this iPod shuffle that was left in the newsagency ages back and the boss let me have because no-one claimed it, but in typical Apple style if I want to get a charger for it I'll have to pay like $45 for it. Fuck that. I did find out that apparently Dick Smith's sells a music player for only $30 and it comes with one of those armbands you can wear when you're working out, so maybe I should just splurge on that. Because I certainly don't think I can fix my phone myself. Ah, decisions decisions.
In other news, the library volunteering went OK today - the Home Library Co-ordinator and I continued to have trouble with these players that are supposed to be easy for the visually impaired to use. That might be so in terms of the buttons on it, but getting actual audio-books on the thing is proving to be a nightmare! Honestly, can't people just give proper instructions? Apparently not. :OP However! As I was about to leave I saw the Home Library Co-ordinator and another librarian looking at a document about the future plans for the library, and it looks like I won't be getting my foot in the door with a paying job there any time soon, they're cutting staff like there's no tomorrow! :O( Fuck, will I ever get a job in the library sector? Why spend all that time on a Masters in Information Studies to get nowhere?
To be honest I'm starting to worry about getting any jobs, I haven't had an interview in almost six months, not even a call! And it's not like I'm only going for highbrow jobs, I'm applying everywhere, I can't see what else I can do. :O(
On a final note...there's been afternoon thunderstorms every afternoon this week and they're getting more and more violent, which is worrying me a bit, because tomorrow I go to church and will probably be heading back on the bus when the next afternoon deluge is supposed to roll in...or even walking to it. That's kind of scary what with the lightning that's been showing up and all, I hate walking in the rain! Also, last week the Powerpoint wouldn't open and I had to type up the hymns in another file in a giant rush, I sent an email to the man who makes the Powerpoint presentations, but I kind of sat on my hands a bit and only sent the email this morning and he hasn't sent the files to me yet, do'h! I sure hope he gets around to it before I have to go tomorrow.
( Finally,some more Meme Catching Up! )
I'm going to catch up on the Other Friday Five tomorrow because apart from other things I need to make a card for my grandmother's birthday party tomorrow (her actual birthday is today!), which I've just remembered I need to do, so I better get on it!
For now I bid you goodnight!
