10:46pm: At least on my Dreamwidth account...I guess I can change one of the ones I have.

Anyway, the 9th June is Marty McFly's birthday, so Happy 54th Birthday to the World's First Human Time Traveller.

So I continue to have BTTF on the mind, I unearthed my Back to the Future comic books - well actually not much unearthing was necessary because I actually keep them in a magazine holder that I bought a few months back. Rather unfortunately, only bought up to issue #20 and it actually ended with #25, how annoying! Especially since in recent years the price of postage from overseas - which is the only place I can find the issues - has gone insane. I remember when it was like 5 US dollars, and now it's just utterly ridiculous, we're talking US$25 for one comic book.

I wanted to buy a replacement for one of my Pusheen bookmarks that I managed to lose, these are tiny things, like smaller than your hand and the postage works out to Australian $35. It's bloody nuts! Apparently it's an Ebay thing...which is annoying because looking online you can see that to send a letter from the US it's only about two dollars. But according to the person I asked, if you've signed up with Ebay you have to charge the postage they assign, apparently Ebay seems to be under the impression that everything you buy on there weight like 10kgs.

Apart from that rant, I don't have much else to report - although my mother is currently flying to Japan to visit my big bro and his family. She'll be gone for 3 weeks and has been looking forward to this for ages, my brother and his wife had their third child last year and this is the first time Mum will get to meet my new nephew. She's a bit bummed she missed out on all the baby's first whatever things. On the plus side, both my nephews are born in June, so Mum will celebrate their birthdays with them and with any luck, my brother and his family will make their usual end of year visit this year.

So, yeah, I'm hoping to update the old journal a bit more, get back into writing and so on. I'm not sure if I'm just trying to recapture my youth (LOL, I make it sound like I'm 70 years old or something) but it gives me something to do.

On a final note...in an amazing display of not noticing something right under my nose...I thought I'd lost my sunglasses, I couldn't find them anywhere, not in my car, not in my bag, not in my jacket pocket... I could only hope I'd lef them at church and would be able to get them back on Saturday. Tonight though I went over to my DVD player...and there they were sitting on the cabinet...somehow I'd missed them this whole time. I swear...I'd lose my head if it's wasn't securely fastened to my person. XD

Right, it's coming up on 11:30pm and I need to get my butt to bed, I've finally busted out my flannel sheets, so here's hoping for a toasty warm sleep.

Goodnight all!

9:24pm: Sir Michael Parkinson that is, who's pretty much the David Attenborough of TV interviewers.

He's in Australia doing a tour although sadly I wasn't able to go to either of the events at the Opera House. Which was huge bummer. But what should happen, but my mother received two tickets to what seemed to be an unrelated book launch event. At first I wasn't really interested, but then Mum discovered that introducing the author would be Parky himself! :OD

So we went off to the Maritime Museum in the city this evening to attend. The book in question is about Captain James Cook and actually sounds quite interesting, however Parky was the real highlight, he's from the same county as Captain Cook back in England, and is a friend of the author which is why he was giving the intro. But yes, Parky is quite old, but still very witty.

Anywho, I did get a few few photos of Parky, but after the event he stayed behind and Mum at eventually convinced me to go over what say hello. He was very nice, I told him that I loved his work and that I had his autobiography (too bad I didn't bring it with me, he could have signed it). He thanked me which was cool :D I also gave him a kiss on both cheeks.

Alas I didn't actually get a photo with him because other people wanted to speak to him too and I didn't think of it until Mum and I were leaving and one of the other people had his phone out and was getting one. Ah well...

Lest you worry about the author fear not be was signing copies of his book and There was quite a line. So I'm sure didn't feel left out :OP

So that was the excitement of the day! Although this morning I did go with Mum to see the Downton Abbey movie. Which was a big confusing for me, not so much because I hadn't watched the series (I did see a few episodes), but because a couple of the actors looked very similar and it took me until three-fourths through the movie to figure it out LOL. Still an alright movie though :OP

I was about to wrap this up and then I realised, I don't think I ever mentioned my extremely exciting news...

I got a full-time job at the Library!

And not just any role, I'm the Inter Library Loans Officer. This was the job I a ctually went for over two years ago, but list out to the person who left the job in mid-September.

So the best thing apart from the full-timeness is the fact I'm still in the dame section of the library with the Collections Team. So I get to stick with the same co-workers, yay!

I've actually been filling in for the ILL Officer since the other person left, although that didn't necessarily mean I would get the job, I still had to do the interview. But hooray for me I managed to impress, go me!

I officially started the role last week, but ironically I'm already on holidays because prior to getting the ILL role I had too much holiday time so had to take it any way, so I'm off for two weeks. Wish is why I was able to go to the movies with Mum.

Mum and I will also be heading down to Canberra on the weekend to hang out with my Aunt and Uncle and see some of my cousins, which will be fun! :O)

Right, so on that exciting note I shall be off.

Goodnight!
anonymoose_au: (Whoops)
9:36pm: Indeed so, despite knowing that I needed to get up early this morning because a handyman was coming over to put up the second hand shelving system Mum and I bought off Gumtree I stayed up too late last night and as a result, got less than 7 hours sleep last night.

I, however, am a person who needs closer to 8 hours to function well, so all day today I've felt very off indeed, in the middle of the day I got a headache and stomachache - right when Mum came to pick me up so we could go shopping for some new stuff for the apartment - and the rest of the time I was having trouble remembering words! Pretty much everything was just a "thingo" or "that over there", man I hope I never get Alzhemeiers, because losing one's words sucks.

Anyway, I survived the shopping trip and picked up a new coverlet and European pillow cases for my bed (so I'll be cycling from Pusheen to "I'm a grown up" now LOL. Apart from the coverlet and pillow cases, which are in a lovely mint green, I also got two new pillows, which...I'm not actually going to use, because they're mostly for show, which seems weird so maybe I will get round to using them eventually.

Anyway, here's the bed in it's "I'm an adult" mode - although I must say Mum picked a bad angle because my butt sure looks big there :OP

But the really exciting thing is not the bed, but shelving unit! It was really awesome when I came across it on Gumtree for only $350, it's an Elfa and buying it new would cost upwards of $1000! Mum and I went out on Thursday after work to pick it up from the other side of the Bridge, which took a while because the owner's daughter got held up. Although, I did get a nice Chinese dinner with Mum, so that was cool.

Then yesterday, our new handyman came over to put them up, but unfortunately, he doesn't have much experience putting up things on walls and he couldn't find metal studs in the wall of the Wintergarden. Not with the stud finder, not even with drilling small exploratory holes in the wall. Which was a huge blow, because Mum and I can hardly put up the shelves ourselves! He suggested I use Airtasker - which I have heard of - to find someone (since the Elfa guy who used to work for Howard's Storage World at the Mall no longer works there) who had more experience putting up these shelving units. Which proved to be a very good idea, although the guy I got couldn't come until today.

Our other handyman did put up my vacuum cleaner - it's one of those cordfree ones you put in a charger when not using, which was good. Later on the electrician came and put up the heater towel rail up in the bathroom, it's looking pretty fab I must say. Plus now I have a warm towel, although I don't really need it in the summertime.

So yes, the AirTasker man came today just after 8:30am, with Mum arriving at the same time and at first he couldn't figure out where the wall studs were either! At that point I was very bummed out and put my head in my hands which concerned the handyman, poor guy! Mum told me to remain calm, and she was sure there would be a way to put it up.

And indeed there was! Seems the gyprock wall is exceptionally thick, but there were studs in there and soon enough the shelving unit was up, the man was paid and I was able to take most of the books out of my storage wardrobes and put them up.

Oh! And I also got a new desk to put out in the Wintergarden (Mum picked it up at Fantastic Furniture) and we put it together - which was pretty neat and now...

My Wintergarden looks like this! Pretty fabulous huh? Although it is subject to change once the proper air con gets put it, plus the blinds in three of the four banks of windows.

But now I can have guests around :O) like my Uncle, Aunt and cousin, as well as Mrs S.

The first one (that isn't Mum) will be Dad, who'll come over after church tomorrow.

And a last photo - my old bed, where Mum has banished my soft toys :OP for now at least - she slept on it on Thursday night and said it wasn't so bad. So if anyone ever stays over here's where you'll sleep.

Anyway, on that note I shall be off since I need to catch up on my zzzs! Hopefully I'll update soon because I didn't mention the interview I had on Thursday for the Collections Assistant role, although it's not that thrilling :OP

For now though, goodnight!

11:52pm: So my mother came over this afternoon to take a look at my wardrobes since she was away when I moved in and never got the chance to tell me where I should I put what :OP

You may well say, what business is it of my mother's how I put stuff, but firstly she and Dad are 10% owners of the place and secondly...her cleaning unearthed two things I thought I'd lost!

One was a library book! Which is fabulous because I was going to have to pay for that, which would have sucked. Plus I never even got a chance to read it...but it turns out it was hiding in one of the baskets in my storage shelf thing.

The second thing was my Pusheen drink bottle! Which was in the pantry...which I swore I'd checked, but while Mum was rearranging things in there it showed up! :OD I'm so happy! They don't sell that particular one anymore (it has Pusheen eating various things on it) and I couldn't even find it on E-bay.

So excellent news there!

I'm glad the day turned out well because I had a weird morning when my guts decided to be asshat and then I had a bit of panic attack while driving home from my parents house (I stay over Thursday nights so Mum and I can watch at TV show called Googlebox). In the end it took me like an hour to do a drive that should take ten minutes. Which just goes to show how bloody dumbass panic attacks are, because I was in the car longer. What was the point of that. Grumble grumble.

Anywho, I better wrap this up as it's almost midnight and I have to head to bed...I'm an old lady now after all! ;O)

9:43pm: Man, it's been months and I am shamed that I've neglected DW for so long! My orginal plan was to update on the new year, but er yeah...

However, today is my birthday, so I thought why not update today? Beyond that I was born some time after 9:30pm, so I am now, officially...gulp...thirty-five.

I know I'm as shocked as you are! However, I do at least have a big life event to report, with any luck tomorrow afternoon I will be receiving the keys to the apartment I have purchased (with my parents as 10% owners)!

Yes this Moose will be a home-owner! OMG, indeed!

I think I've described the place before in an earlier entry, but suffice to say I'm quite excited! There's heaps of storage and everything is nice and new. I'll definitely have to take photos to show you.

My parents and I had hoped to get the keys in time for my birthday, but alas it didn't happen and actually things are still a bit up in the air with two last documents to sign! Fingers and toes crossed it can be sorted out tomorrow morning so the keys can be in my possession in the afternoon.

Apart from that life is good, my co-workers got me a cake and a funny card, I got a Christmas Sweater Pusheen ornament for 50% off during lunchtime and I had dinner (with another cake) at a nice club with my parents and little bro this evening.

The only downside of this exciting time is that my job which I'm doing under contract will be advertised soon. With a few changes that is it'll be full-time with a higher pay rate.

Now you might think that's good news, which I guess it is sort of, except it now means that the job is a lot more attractive and competition for it could be quite tough.

The Collections Assistant job is also coming up again, which I'm also planning on going for...but it's less hours and less pay, which is a bit of a worry with the apartment and all.

But, Mum and I are going to work hard at polishing up the resume and my interview presentation. Plus I'm going to keep a record of what I'm doing that fullfills the selection criteria. So more fingers and toes crossed :O)

Ok, better wrap up here since I am sleepy (I woke up an hour too early this morning and couldn't get back to sleep).

Goodnight all!

PS. Oh! I almost forgot, the big bro and his family called me from Japan which was super nice. :O) My neice wished me a happy birthday!
anonymoose_au: (Hey! Bitches)
11:06pm: This photofit of a suspect they just showed on the news! I mean yikes if anyone looks like that in real life you'd pretty much know it! It'll be interesting to see, if the guy is caught - and I sure hope he is because he's a suspected rapist - if he looks anything like that photofit.

Anyway, what do I have to say since we met last update...well Mum came over today and helped me clean the Hell out of my kitchen, it looks really nice in there. I really need to figure out how to keep it like that! Famous last words of mine, I know. :OP

I had something else to report...I've lost my Aldi fitness tracker! Which I probably should have seen coming. Arrrgh why do I lose things so easily? It's enough to make a grown woman cry.

Seriously...what was I going to write? I'm distracted by the Cheeto of Doom's latest dumbass shit move the whole tariff thing. What a fuckwit, honestly. I'm reminded again why I'm often avoiding the television news this day, he's guaranteed to show up on it and I just want to punch my TV when he does. I'm honestly surprised anyone can work with that thing.

Moving on from politics, it's starting to get chilly at night and in the morning, which totally bums me out. Don't leave summer! Sniff! We barely knew ye.

I guess the big news for me is that my work situation with Mrs S has been changed, I go in later because rather than using the sliding sheet, she needs to be carried to her wheelchair, which despite my working out in the gym I'm really not good at. I mean, I can lift her but my arms certainly shake while doing so. This means I'm getting less money, which sucks. It also might lead to a permanent reduction in hours when Mrs S gets back from her trip home to Peru, which is certainly no good...

And shit that reminds me, I need to check the internal jobs at the library, apparently there's one for a technology librarian and I was recently mentioned in dispatches (ie commended) in the weekly round-up for my dedication to helping patrons with the technology woes. I'm pretty sure it closes tomorrow and if so I gotta apply!

Anyway even though I am starting work later, I am working tomorrow so I need to get my butt to bed! So for now, goodnight all!

10:22pm: Yes! I went and saw her yesterday morning and as promised by the newspaper article, she was biiiig. Her name is Rosie, LOL.

I was able to get a nice lady to take a photo of me with Rosie since my attempt at a selfie was hampered by my short arms.

You may ask, why the Hell was there a giant pink flamingo in the middle of the mall anyway? Well, I think I might have mentioned in my last entry it's was an advertisement for a company that makes pool floaty toys among other things. Rosie was convienently located next to the big fountain where there was a display of other pink flamingoes both of the personal floating kind and the set your drink on it kind, LOL.

Anywho, it was a good thing I had to go to the mall because I had to get some napkins and number candles for M's birthday brunch as well as some coleslaw sauce for Mum.

M's birthday brunch was both good and bad, good because it was a yummy meal, M was in a good mood and enjoyed her gifts, the little bro was there and there was cake! The bad was Mum and I got into a bit of an argument over something dumb. Bah!

What else to report, well the dress I wore to the brunch and then to work is a nice one except that the arm holes are too small, I discovered that the dress had been taken in a bit when I got home, so I unpicked it, but the armholes are still too small. So I may have to get it altered by a professional becaue I don't know how to do that.

Apart from that, not a lot to say! Although I'm still trying to sort my outdoor Christmas tree shaped light issue, I thought I'd solved it today with some suction cup hanging things, but they don't work on my granny flat's walls (even though they are supposed to work outdoors). I seem to remember I actually bought them last year and had to return them because of the same reason, LOL whoops. On the upside I did see something at Bunnings that should work. Just as long as it's not nails, because as a tenant I can't bang holes into the wall.

I should post photos of my Christmas decos, I'm quite proud of the set-up I have here, but since I'm going to work at Mrs S's tomorrow (I swapped days with the other carer this week) I need to wrap this entry up. Also I don't want to type for too long because I've got a sore index finger from a cut I got today when I knocked over and broke one of Mrs S's glasses. :O( It was all the way from Peru too! Craaaap. She has some others, but still. Also, I stabbed my ring finger cuticle on that same hand (the left) with the seam ripper last night, so ouch. Then finally I scrapped the first knuckle of the same index finger on something at Mrs S's, so yes, my poor hand.

I'm so clumsy, gee.

And lastly, after the schmoozle of last week and leaving my fridge open a bit, I thought I should make it a bit colder since it's summer time, which turned out to be a bad idea, half the stuff in there got frozen! Including the milk, and the lettuce. Dang. I've turned it back down a bit and hopefully it's OK.

Right, must be off, I made spaghetti sauce tonight and made lasagna which has just finished cooking so I gotta put it in the fridge and I'l be having some yummy lunch and dinner for the next few days!

10:53pm: Yes! I've been neglecting my journal for most of November, but that's because NaNo pretty much ate up all the free-time I had. Guess my ideas don't flow a fast as they used to, because I barely made it! I had to change my time-zone to do so, but I felt it was fair enough to do that because there was one day where I planned to write, but couldn't because I had a terrible headache, it totally sucked.

Anyway! I got the 50,000 words done, but it typical Moose style I haven't finished the story yet, in fact I'm nowhere near doing so. Honestly me...part of NaNo is dilly-dallying, but I went way over the top with that one, LOL fail.

Anyway, apart from NaNo not a lot happened for me in November, so I guess the fact I haven't updated much isn't a huge loss. Although, as it happened, Plushy ended up going to the GP event and making his big international coaching debut! Which I'm pleased to say I saw live! :OD Yaaay! Although I used up all my mobile bandwidth doing so because I had to watch it at the library during my lunch. Still, it was so awesome! And his student did so well! Coachshenko is a bawwwsss.

Anywho, I can't stay up too late because I need to go to the Mall tomorrow morning - Mum was reading the paper while watching the cricket (because it's waaay too boring to give your undivided attention) and discovered that a giant inflatable flamingo is there this weekend to advertise a pop-up shop. It's 8 metres tall and 8 metres wide! If I'd know it was there I totally wouldn't have gone this afternoon - I didn't go ice skating because I needed to finish up the frosting for the cupcakes I made for the Church's Christmas Dinner tonight (also because I wanted to eat some cupcake batter, LOL!). But since I didn't know I'll have to do it tomorrow before going to M's birthday party. Oh well, at least I went to church this evening with Mum so I'll have time to do that. Hopefully I'll get a photo with the flamingo! I'll keep you posted.

So yes, the Church's Christmas Party was tonight, I went mostly because Mum invited me along (since Dad and I usually go to a different church), it was good although it took aaages for food to be served. I'm not sure how my cupcakes were received because Mum and I were both tired so headed home. I did take a few of the cupcakes with me because I need to give them to Mrs S, her husband and the other carer. Plus I did end up eating two myself, but I had to make sure they were delicious! ;O) I think I finally got the oven ratio right today, so yeah go me!

Oh that note then, I better wrap this up, I missed out on my Russian and Japanese last night so i have to do that! (Not sure if I'll ever learn Japanese, but I should try since my brother does live over there and by extension my niece and nephew live there too! I saw them on Facetime tonight actually since I'm at my parents place for the night and the big bro called.

So yes, I shall be off now, hope you're all well!

Goodnight all!

11:35pm: So I'm not sure I mentioned this before, but I bought a car cover for my car from Aldi on Monday and I've been using it for the past couple of days. It's been going quite well, at least until this afternoon when I managed to snap my aerial!

Shiiit, I should have realised it was going to happen, but I didn't and now I'm worried that my radio won't work! Also that it's going to be expensive to fix? I think maybe I just need to unscrew the the bottom bit of the aerial and have a new one put in. Except I couldn't seem to unscrew it when I went out to check. Man, I sure as Hell hope not, since it's bound to be expensive if I have to put a whole new aerial in, there's a cable you have to take out and everything.

Honestly, why do I suck at taking care of my stuff?!

Apart from that, it was a usual Wednesday, excepting that I didn't work this morning, I went to the school for scripture and Mum came over afterwards to check out the Granny Flat, which is looking quite nice if I do say so myself.

I've also been working on my NaNo, although I haven't hit 5,000 words yet. I'm thinking I should hang out at the library or something so I can type at a proper table and whatnot...on the other hand I also need to call my friend to see if she wants to hang out, I meant to do that this afternoon, but I procrastinated and now it's too late. Pft fail.

Speaking of which, here's my word metre so far:

4531 / 50000 words. 9% done!

So not all that bad, almost ten percent there!

However, I probably haven't been getting enough sleep - despite not having to get up early so that's dumb of me.

So yes, on that note I better head off, goodnight!

11:02pm: Yes! I was most disappointed when I looked through my emails this morning after going swimming with Dad (well, he worked out on the treadmill first so more like swam by myself while he was on that LOL) and saw that the lady who's Thursday shifts I've been doing is coming back to the library. So all those shifts I had are now cancelled. This is bad news because as Mum points out the bank probably won't want to lend me the money for the apartment if I'm not working enough hours. Plus I won't be able to save as much money for the stamp duty if I lose four hours worth of money.

So I was totally bummed out about all this, but later on when I was at work I took a quick look at my emails again and there was one from the roster person at the library offering me some Friday shifts. I'm not sure if I've got the same number as I had before, but yay!

Anyway, I've been very productive this evening - except on the fanfic writing front, do'h! - both Mum and Mrs S needed me to do some sewing, which I got done. Mum also asked me to make some cupcakes for tomorrow, which I've done although I screwed up on the oven temperature so they're sort of burnt on the bottom. Hopefully when I put the frosting on tomorrow it won't be so noticible, since these cupcakes are for some other people and you kind of want to do your best there.

Not much else to report, except I've gone to a few second hand shops today and no sign of a red shirt to replace the one I have that's getting a bit long on the tooth. Man, it's so hard to find a decent looking shirt these days, they've all got ruffles and no collars and shit, very annoying.

But yes, best be off, I should probably try and write a bit of my fanfic! Keep in the grove and all.

So for now, goodnight!

11:05pm: And it sucked! Obviously I turned up my water tap too much when I attached the dishwasher hose so I could put it on. I have no idea what happened! I should have gone and checked it when the dishwasher beeped, but it was still making noises like the cycle was still going. But when it stopped and I went into the kitchen to unpack it I found water was practically spurting from the tap and water was all over the floor, sink and table! Even worse, all my daily positive affirmations which I've been forgetting to do since...oh June (gotta get back onto them though) but have kept in my broken penguin cookie jar had been soaked through! D: Thankfully, I was able to put the pieces of paper out on the floor and they've now dried. However in trying to mop up all the water I knocked my penguin jar over and the head was smashed to bits. My poor jar!

However, it's not all terrible news, I decided to look up the new Pusheen cookie jar on E-bay, and had the great luck to find a place that will send it free! It cost me $45, but that's a bargain, especially since it's apparently never going to be sold here. It'll take a while to get here though, but I'm really looking forward to it! :O)

Moving on, today after scripture class, my mother came over and was pleased to see how I've been keeping my house clean, yay! :O) We also discussed dinners - since I don't have much of a repitoire, Mum is of the opinion I need to add more vegetables to whatever it is I cook, she's proabably right, I'm pretty sure I'm not getting all my serves in.

Apart from that, not much else to report, I got to bed early yesterday though (a miracle!) and got to Mrs S's an hour earlier as planned, which meant I finished an hour earlier and got to the gym, so I've done my two of that for this week. :O)

However, it's now late, so I must be off since tomorrow I've got volunteering and a library shift, so I better be ready for it!

11:47pm: Seriously, where's the excitement in my life? :OP

All I've got is a question...what's an editor-at-large? I've never heard of that term before now, kind of makes it sound like the person is on the run, LOL. I guess it's just the same as head editor and is some weird US term.

Hmmm, so yes nothing exciting to report, except tomorrow I don't have a shift at the library, so yay! A day off, niiice. I'm planning to go swimming with Mum at the pool her in the retirement village, so that's going to be fun.

I've also started to use my "Good Habits" checklist thing again, I bought it a couple of months ago, used it for a few weeks and then got lazy, but I'm gonna try again because I could use some good habits. I'm just trying to think of rewards that aren't food, LOL. Although a weekly chocolate bar probably won't do me any harm.

And I better head off since it's almost midnight and I should make sure not to stay up too late because I need to go to bed quite early tomorrow night because I need to start early at Mrs S's place. Like a whole hour earlier, yikes!

11:22pm: But that's not my fault, I had an update all ready to go last night actually, but when I went to submit it, the internet decided to have a fit and not be connected so it didn't post! Then when I went back the update page nothing had been saved like it usually is and by that point it was nearly midnight and I didn't have enough time.

No need to despair though you didn't miss much, unless you think my tale of driving on a nearly empty fuel tank exciting. :OP It did get super low though! Of course, today as expected petrol prices had fallen, grumble grumble. so rude! Sometimes I feel like I should advertise when I get petrol because I can guarantee the very next day it'll be cheaper.

Anyway, moving on, not much excitement this week, in fact less exciting than usual because alas the time difference between here and Italy - where the last Junior Grand Prix event is been held means I haven't been able to watch any of it yet. Which is a huge shame because one of Plushy's students is there! I found out today that Plushy himself isn't there because he's with another student, but the skater in question, a young man, did totally awesome in the short program and is currently in the first! Apparently, he was thinking of quitting at the end of last season because he wasn't skating well and having problems with his jumps, but I certainly didn't see any evidence of that. How cool for Plushy and his team, you go, man!

So yeah, you know you've got an unexciting life when you have to write about someone else's LOL.

Oh, well, I did decided to make use of my fitness app to see how my eating habits are, since I've been gaining weight recently, unsurprisingly I've been eating too much, do'h! Not a lot, but enough so adds up. Guess I have a choc chip cookie eating problem, LOL. Hopefully I can figure out some healthier snack options, because I do get hungry.

Anywaaay, I better wrap this up because time is moving on and I do feel a bit sleepy, need to get the zzzs!

Hopefully I'll have something more exciting to report this weekend LOL.

But wait I almost forgot! This evening had some excitement so to speak - I was meant to meet Mum and Dad for dinner at the Golf Club for their cheap Friday eats. I ended up going to the parental house first to help Mum with purchasing something from E-bay where I found out poor Dad had gone to the Eye Hospital in the city because he was having vision issues! D:

Mum and I ended up going to the club - although it turned out it wasn't cheap fish and chip night, but we shared a regular priced one, LOL - during this time Mum called Dad and found out that his retinas are OK, although apparently he has to keep an eye (no pun intended!) on any further symptoms. He had to leave his car near the Mall and catch the bus into the city, so I drove Mum over to the car and Dad got the bus back so she could drive him back.

I meanwhile headed home, and who should pull up next to me, but my little bro going...somewhere. LOL this is like the first time I've ever randomly gone past him - and at first I didn't recognise him and thought some weirdo was waving at me from his car. But nope! Pretty neat, I must remember to mention that to the parental units.

Goodnight all!

11:19pm: Check out these guys! They're deep sea divers who work on gas rigs out in the North Sea and in order to do so they have to go into this special saturation chamber for the entirety of their work schedule so they can get acclimitised down there and not die. I didn't know this but you can't breath regular air down there, apparently nitrogen kills down there? So instead the mix oxygen with helium...hence everyone sounds like chipmunks.

IT'S ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO TAKE THESE GUYS SERIOUSLY!!! Like imagine if it was your first day in the control room and some guy had an emergency and you can't stop laughing. I guess you get used to it after a while, but still! Also I wonder if the divers can hear how funny they sound? Or does it eventually become normal to them and then when they come out everyone else sounds super looooow, 'cause that would be reversely amusing.

Anyway, moving on, today was a busy day! First there was work for Mrs S, then I returned my sandals to the shop and got a credit note, so I tried to find some sneakers. But I didn't find any there that caught my fancy, they've got other shops though, two in Dee Why so I'll try them tomorrow when I go to volunteer at the library.

After that I went to get some things for Mrs S from the hardware shop and then to a car shop - where I thought about getting a car cover to protect my car, but instead got some of this spray that's rain repellent, I sure hope it works!

Later on in the evening I went and picked up Mum who returned from her trip to see her friend, so it was great to see her again. :O) Also I drove past where my apartment is going to be built, it's been a few weeks since I've done so and wow they've done a lot, like demolish the whole building that was there! Nice. Except I need to bump up my savings if I'm gonna get the stamp duty!

Finally...the Australian Government apparently wants all our licence photos so they can follow us around with survillence cameras and shit. Which sounds pretty dodgy to me, I don't want the government being able to follow me around whenever they want!

Well, it's late and since I do want to go look for shoes tomorrow and have to work at the Mona Vale Library tomorrow as well I better head to bed so I can get enough zzzs I kind of didn't last night.

Goodnight all!

Throttled!

11:04pm: Yes, I'm afraid I do use more bandwidth then I thought I would because I've run out of it and now my internet provider has slowed my internet riiiight down to dial-up speeds! I could pay 10 bucks to get buy some more data, but with only four days left in the month I'm not sure if it's the best use of my money.

Although, there's more ice skating coming up this weekend! That being the case I should buy the data block sooner rather than later to get my money's worth. But I dunno...I have quite a bit of data left on my phone, but I'm sure it wouldn't last.

In other news, my bedside lamp's light bulb just decided to burn out and I'm pretty sure I don't have another one - which I was just discussing with Mrs S the other day. Grumble, grumble.

What else? Not much, had a shift at the library today, usually on Tuesday's the Duke of Ed school kids come by to do volunteer work thus meaning we have to leave the shelving to them, but it's school holidays so they're not in. Also there's currently a Where's Wally event going on in the library, which I decided to join in on, LOL. Not that I can actually enter, but I managed to find everything so yaaay.

Right, I better wrap this up because I need to go to bed, although I finally got some writing done, maybe I should leave the internet alone... :OP

But for the time being, I'm off!

Oh and I went swimming today with Mum at the Retirement Village's swimming pool, yaaay, always fun! And also washed my car before the landlord's get back, so I do feel very productive!

10:44pm: So I went to my dental appointment and now I've got my new mouth guard, I think it's actually called a splint, but whatever. It's just for my upper teeth, which is cool and it seems to fit pretty well, although it's rather tough to get out, but maybe that's just because I'm not used to it, LOL. At least I hope so, because I'd hate for it to get stuck in there!

What else to report? Well, I'm still procrastinating on calling my friend! And also the HR people at the council - except I can't seem to find the number for the latter, so how the Hell am I supposed to call, very annoying.

I'm also veeeery slowly working on the fic, I think I might be letting myself get too bogged down in how the story is going to flow when I finish and post it for others to read. Except...obviously no-one's gonna read it if I never finish it! So, I need to set that aside, could be easier said than done! Perhaps I should treat it like NaNo. :OP

Anywho, I better get to bed, it's going to be a busy day tomorrow, what with Mrs S, the scripture class and Mum coming by to look over my house and rate it tidiness, or lack thereof. :OP

Oh I almost forgot! More swimming today at Mum and Dad's place, good times! Also, it was a bit of a close thing, but I managed to get to work at the library on time! (I need to change the time my alarm goes off!)

So goodnight all!

10:53pm: So I finally got off my butt and made a dental appointment, which was today at 3pm. Since Sunday my tooth has been feeling better but I was still kind of worried I might have developed a cavity and I was rather nervous when I got the dental office.

There was good news and bad news, the good, despite my lack of check-ups over the past...um probably five years, my teeth are in good condition, they just needed some cleaning and a fluoride treatment.

The bad news? Well, the pain in my teeth is not from a cavity, its from teeth grinding! And unfortunately it seems it must be happening at night since my teeth are showing quite a bit of sign of grounding. Dang, I always thought teeth looked sort of jaggered anyway, but yeah no.

So, the dentist recommended I get a splint, Grandpa has one, although I'm pretty sure his if for snoring more than teeth grinding. It's about four hundred and fifty dollars to get one made, although my private health insurance should cover a fair bit of it. So instead of coming back later to get the moulds done - because why do that? - I returned to chair and had done then and there. Praise the Lord for dental advancement, last time I had a mould taken of my teeth it took like half an hour and it was horrible! It was still unpleasant but only took ten minutes.

Anyway, the upshot is that I have to go back next Tuesday when the splint should be ready and hopefully will be comfortable, I can't even even stand to have a tongue depressor put in my mouth so I'm a bit concerned...but I guess I'll get used to it.

I'll keep you all updated!

Anyway, I better be off, I didn't get quite enough sleep yesterday - shakes head - so I better make sure I catch up on it.

Oh! I almost forgot! Having stayed over at the parentals last night I went swimming in the heated pool with Mum at the Retirement Village - man it's been aaages since I've gone swimming. And before that we went to the weekly morning tea in the common room thing which involved scones, most delicious! :O)

11:35pm: In typical style Centrelink has decided to be an absolute pain in the ass and ask me to confirm stuff that happened years ago, in one case more than FIVE years ago. Like for real?!

Even worse, because I don't have bank statements or payslips from that long ago I can't do it online and instead have to call those people. Centrelink is known for being absolutely useless when it comes to answering the phone. People have been on hold with those people for hours. Son of a bitch. I got other things to do!

Anyway, in less irritating new, Mum's back! She managed to make quite a mess of what time her flight was so at first she said she was coming in at about 9am then it was 7am and then...back to 9am! I guess her phone didn't take into account the time zone change.

This meant that I didn't actually need to go over and stay at my grandparents place last night, but I'm glad I did. M and I finished our Canasta game with M managing to snatch the win, do'h!

Anyway Mum was picked up without a problem and the library shift this afternoon went quite well too :O) I finally got around to putting my plastic bags in the recycling bin at Coles.

And lastly...I've forgotten what I was about to say..oh yeah, turn out I was missing winter clothes and they were in a box in M and Grandpa's garage, I've got them back now. Although winter is almost over, although it was pretty cold today so I think I'll still get good use out of them.

Anyway, I better get moving, tomorrow's going to be busy with my pyschiatrist appointment and calling Centrelink ugh. Wish me luck!

11:50pm: By work I mean write and by conditions I mean my digestive system deciding to be a complete asshole. Why you gotta hurt at such inopportune moments, gut? You suck and I'm offended.

I'm also starting this update way too late, do'h! Not that I have much to report, except...the landlord came in while I was out today (I gave him permission) to fix the tap...problem is...he didn't fix it and he also put the knob thing back weirdly, now it doesn't match the hot water knob, I have to turn them in two different directions! This is really confusing, seriously! But, I'm not sure I can really bring it up with the man, it's awkward. I'm starting to think I should just pay for a plumber to come and fix the dang thing myself. Sure, it's technically the landlord's responsibility but I'm getting a Hell of a good deal on rent here so, you know, maybe it's all fair in the end.

What else to report, well, I did spend quite a bit of time on the phone to Dad this evening, he was at Newtown, getting the place ready for the new tenants is proving to be quite difficult and poor Dad keeps having to do stuff! Also the last tenant or maybe the one before that did something weird to the internet and now he can't seem to connect. I tried to talk him through it over the phone, but no luck. He did talk to Mum later on though and when I called her myself she said that the new tenants who have just moved in seem to be a bit more tech-savvy so fingers crossed they can figure it out. Otherwise I'll have to go over there after skating tomorrow - I have to go to Macquarie Centre tomorrow because my beanie is being held at the shop for me!

Anywho, I should head off to bed because work calls tomorrow and all that jazz. I really hope I'll be able to write tomorrow! Come on me, I can do it, LOL!

For now, goodnight!

Yaaawn!

Aug. 14th, 2017 11:55 pm
anonymoose_au: (Hey! Bitches)
11:37pm: Well, I'm sleepy, which is no surprise, because it's late!

Not much to report today, although it turned out to be quite a busy afternoon! First I had to go and get the flowers for Mrs S since the gardener is coming to her place tomorrow, however, I also had a shift at the library. So I had to go home first to change my clothes and pack up for my night over at Mum and Dad's place, then get to the nursery, buy the flowers, deliver them back to Mrs S's house and then get to the library. Phew!

Fortunately, I got to Mona Vale in plenty of time and the shift went well!

What else to report? Not much, although I finally got a chance to speak to Mum on the phone, she's been hard to get a hold of - it turns out that the ring tone for the Skype number my big bro set up for her is quiet so she kinda needs to be sitting right next to her phone to hear it.

And I did some work on my fic tonight, although not nearly enough, boo.

I did have a plan to go ice skating tomorrow so I could go to M and Grandpa's on Saturday, but M called today and I've arranged to go and see them tomorrow instead. Which is cool, except I wanted to buy another Pusheen beanie - but they could be sold out by then at Macquarie. :O( I guess I can call them up and see if they can put one aside for me...or just suck up the cost of postage.

Anywho, I better get to bed now so I'll be good for Canasta playing tomorrow! We'll be playing in the morning so M will have the advantage, LOL!

So I say goodnight!
