10:29pm: So I'm watching the Queen's Funeral and Procession and yeah I'm crying a little bit. Man, why they gotta have this sad, sad music. I think my Grandpa might have the right idea, he wants a jazzy tune to play at the end of his funeral. Good call I say.

Not gonna lie, I was also sad that we didn't get one last singing of "God Save the Queen" at the end of the service which kinda set me off.

Man...they've put the coffin in the car that will head off to Windsor Castle and it is quiet they really must have kept the cars out of central London today.

I'm just sad she didn't get to see it, which is...er...weird because it's her funeral so she obviously knew she wasn't going to see it.

Although imagine been the guy driving the hearse, I'd be so nervous... Also they're throwing flowers, I didn't think that was allowed, but the cops aren't arresting anyone, so I guess it is allowed.

Anyway, I've just realised I don't have a "serious" icon for this sort of thing, whoops.

It's also Talk Like A Pirate Day, but er, I might write about that later.

So the hearse has just passed the Royal Albert Hall, dedicated to good ol' Prince Albert, good times.

OK, I better go now, I do need to go to bed at a reasonable hour I was quite tired today at work.

Vale Queen Elizabeth II.

11:01pm: Indeed! I was a bit worried an hour or so ago when it was looking more like a T-Rex than a kangaroo, but I preserved with it and now that I've stuffed it a bit it looks pretty good. Although, I'm not sure the stitching is all that secure, I wouldn't want an arm or an ear to fall off! I'm not sure how to fix that, the plush toy is awfully small so I'm not sure I'd be able to use my sewing machine on it after all.

Makes me wish the pattern I used had actual instructions, because I think I should of sewed the arms into the side seams rather than put the on later. It's all very head scratchy.

In other news, I've finally got around to watching this documentary on Versailles that I borrowed from the library, man history is a screwed up thing...like France and England declaring war on each other for the Hell of it and what not. And in the end Louis XVI got screwed.

What else to report? Not much, the afternoon and evening was spent at the Council Info Booth, which wasn't all that busy, although in the end I think we got around 36 submissions, so I guess that wasn't too bad, I'm not sure how next week and the week after that will go... I hope I won't end up being bored out of my mind. :OP

Anyway, the documentary is about to finish and it's my bed time so I better head off. Without doing any memes again, sorry about that.

But for now, goodnight!

10:25pm: There has been exciting developments in regards to the bus timetable, which I discovered when I was looking at the app today, there's two new earlier 178 buses on Saturday morning! Which means I can catch one up to the main road to meet up with the bus that goes to Chatswood and then I can go from there to Macquarie Ice rink for the morning session! It's actually lucky I saw it because when I went into the app my plan was to look at what time the 136 went so I could arrange to catch it...so yes I must have just had a feeling. :OP

However...I do hope my legs will feel better tomorrow morning, it's that time o' the month (which at least politely decided to show up after my gym work out and swimming) and they've decided to be asses. Uncomfortable to say the least. (Which reminds me I should input all my weird symptoms in the period app tracker I've got, see if there's a pattern)

Aside from that...not much else to report, work went well and I put a reminder on my phone that I don't need to come in until 9:30am on Monday since it's the public holiday.

Oh and I realised after posting I forgot to mention George III's birthday! Which is 4th June, I think it's actually still the 4th in England so this can count as a shout out to my main monarch. You go, you boiled egg loving, book reading king.

Anyway, I should wrap this up since I need to go to bed so I can get up tomorrow morning for the skating (the bus I need to catch leaves at 7:33am, boo), before I leave here's a picture of what happened to the car. Sigh...I guess it doesn't look that bad, but I can't wait to get it fixed. As it is it looks really sad.

And it's now 11pm so I better haul! Goodnight all!

9:36pm: Apparently this day 35 years ago was the day the assassination attempt occurred. Man, that is a long time ago. Anyway, I say this because there's a documentary on about it, not because I have an amazing memory for US history.

Anyway, today was a typical one for a Monday, that is I was a bit scatterbrained at Mrs. S's, nothing as bad as last week with the forgetting to set the breaks on the showerchair incident, but still! I don't remember having trouble with working on Mondays before! Maybe it's because I'm not getting enough sleep on the weekends? Primarily because I go to bed later than usual, but I often find that I wake up at the same time I normally would on the weekdays, hence not quite enough zzzs are had.

Which is why I've decided to update a bit earlier in the hopes this will encourage me to get to bed at the right time. I have to go half an hour earlier to work tomorrow so I've decided that I'll take the car and then take it to M and Grandpa's tomorrow - note to self don't forget the Canasta cards!

Not much else to report - went to the library today where I saw to my disappointment that interviews for the new positions were in progress - interviews I didn't get, boo hiss, I still can't believe that. And the HR Department never got back to me! So rude. I can't believe I didn't even get an interview...do they know who I am?! :OP

Well, anyway, I shall use this time to catch up on the Memes:

Saturday 9

:Thinking Out Loud (2014):

1) This week's featured artist, Ed Sheeran, was discovered by Elton John. Tell us your favorite Elton John song. Hmmm...well, I do like Saturday Night is that what's it called. "Saturday nights all right for fightin'!"

2) Ed's arms are covered in tattoos, so clearly he doesn't suffer from trypanophobia, or the fear of needles. Do you get nervous when the doctor gives you a shot? I do, if only because of the time I fainted after having my blood drawn. Also, they hurt!

3) One of his tattoos depicts a Heinz Tomato Ketchup label. What condiments are in your kitchen right now? Really? Random... Anyway, I have two bottles of Masterfoods tomato sauce.

4) Spotify named Sheeran the most-streamed artist in the world for 2014. Do you use Spotify? Pandora? Nah, I mostly look up songs on YouTube and rip the audio files from them these days, LOL, old school.

5) Ed celebrated his success by purchasing a farm near Suffolk, England. Would you prefer to live in a rural, suburban or urban area? Hmm, well I quite liked living in Newtown, which is kind of between urban and suburban. Centrally located, but not completely built up with tall buildings and what not.

6) In this song, Ed sings about kissing "under the light of one thousand stars." Were you able to see the stars last night? Or was it it too cloudy or overcast? I haven't looked out tonight, but I did see a few of them yesterday. I have to be honest that I don't like it when I can see too many stars, it makes me dizzy!

7) Ed is a natural red head, a trait he shares with only about 2% of the population. Does red hair run in your family? Nope, in fact I don't think any of my immediate relatives have red hair, although my Grandfather and big brother used to/have ginger beards should they grew/grow them.

8) One of Clairol's most popular shades is a red (Nice 'n Easy Natural Light Auburn). Have you/would you dye your hair? Nah, because I got scarred for life by a report on A Current Affair about adverse reactions to hair dye result in chemical burns and hair loss and all sorts of stuff. Plus I'm lazy so couldn't be bothered. I do have hair chalk though, that's pretty cool.

9) Random question: Look at the windows in the room you're in. Are they covered in curtains or blinds? Mostly slats...but there is a blind for the window right behind me.

10:29pm: Did you know that Leonard Da Vinci probably made the Shroud of Turin? And used his own face to do it? The face of Jesus! LOL, how vain is that - he also apparently used his own face on the Mona Lisa. LOL, he must have thought he was teh shit.

In other news, today went a bit pear shaped because apparently I misunderstood things and when I turned up at the library today I found out that my supervisor was away. It seems I was supposed to call early this week to confirm...dear me. I ended up being there only for an hour, then I headed back home getting off at Macquarie University to go to the Macquarie Centre. So many shops...but I didn't find what I was looking for, shame.

Then I came home here and fooled around on the internet, which was not a good plan, since tomorrow I have to go help Mum tomorrow, sigh.

I'm watching the late news on ABC and there's three 'Tonys' there right now - the presenter, the dude he's interviewing and the guy he's tallking about. LOL.

Thursday Thunks

:What's in a Name?:

The TT questions are brought to you by Bud, the color of Kimber's hair (where did she go?) and the number 333.

1. We are changing your name. You have no choice. You get to pick it, but we must approve it. You must have a good reason. Ok, what is the name and reason?

Uh...Alison - because then I can go by 'Al' which is a name I'm fond of and it sounds cool.

2. I say Shotgun, you say?

Don't point that thing at me. :OP

3. We are sending you away. Africa or Mexico?

Gee...I'm gonna say Mexico - Cancun is pretty amazing so I hear and there's ancient ruins to see there too.

4. When you're home alone, do you still close the door when you use the restroom?

Nah.

5. Berleen told me that I have to ask a mean question. Tell us about a horrible memory.

Hmmm...well one time when I was in kindergarten or Year 1 some kid threw up and he must have drunk waaay too much red cordial because that was the colour of it. I was freaked out, holy shit.

6. What are your plans for October?

Finish assignment
Find a job
???
Profit

7. Is there anyone that you regret ever meeting?

This bully in my Year 3 class, the fuckhead.

8. You have 3 months left to live, what do you do?

D: Go to New York pronto.

9. You wake up in an unfamiliar place, what is your first reaction?

"What the Hell is this...?"

10. Your phone rings at 4am, just before you kill this person, who do you expect it would be?

Man, if someone called me that early I'd be terrifed that I'd be bad news, unless there's been some mix up in time zones no-one would call at that hour if they weren't in trouble.

11. You're having a bad day, what one thing can make your day better?

Something funny on TV.

12. You are doing a meme written by the blogosphere's shadiest character. Is there anything else that you should be doing right now?

My assignment - sigh.

13. If money were not a problem, (and it never is, right? Yes, I stole this f$%*ing question. Sue me.) where would you like to live?

Well if my family was close by I'd totally go to New York, at least for a year - that'd be good times.

What are you reading right now? What made you choose it? Are you enjoying it? Would you recommend it? (And, by all means, discuss everything, if you’re reading more than one thing!)

I'm currently reading Air Crash Disasters Vol. 1, I thought the Shorelink Library Network had got rid of all their copies, but nope! Interesting stuff indeed!

I'm also in the middle of Point of Origin by Patricia Cornwell, it's a good read, I'm not sure if I've actually finished it before, so I'm looking forward to getting to the end.

And sure I'd recommend them both - go nuts. :O)

Health Check!

1. How’s your health these days?

Pretty good! :OD I had a stomach yesterday and a sore toe the day before but I'm not sure what they were all about, probably just one off stuff, so on the whole, I'm good!

2. Been to the doctor (your main doc) lately? Do you have a clean bill of health?

Not for quite a few months, which is good, and indeed I did, I had to take antibotics though because that weird parasite thing was back. But it's gone now - phew!

3. What about maintenance doctors (eye doctor, dentist, etc)? Been to any of those lately?

Ahem...no, I really should, but I hate the dentist, they put the chair too far back and that fluoride treatment tastes hideous! Although the other day one of my wisdom teeth was hurting and I was getting quite concerned...but it's settled down again, phew! I really shouldl go to the dentist though - except I no longer have private health cover so I can't really afford it...

And what the Hell let's do this Shipper's' Ahoy Meme!

Day 01 - What is your current Favourite Ship?

Well thanks to my friend who popped over on Saturday I've really gotten into that Merlin show and am hardcore shipping Arthur and Guinevere, LOL. Although! I've had a long interest in the Arthurian Legend, in fact that's what I did my main project on for 3 Unit History in Year 12.
Also the dude who plays Arthur in this version is ridiculously hot.

10:07pm: My right big toe has hurt all day long, this is quite disturbing, I hope I don't have gout or something - I mean I can't see why I would since I'm not a) over 50, b) a man or c) a drinker. Maybe I just did something weird to it. I hope it goes away soon.

In other news, I was going to work on my assignment today and you know when I use that term it can only mean one thing - I did sweet fuck all there.

I'm also totally poor, I hope I get my tax back soon...I really need that money! Also must remember to do my Centrelink form online.

Not much else to report, I was going to go out, but the cleaner came today and I didn't want to leave in case she needed something, plus I was feeling pretty lazy. :OP I also cooked dinner tonight, lasagne, which I thought tasted most delicious but Dad said was dry and Mum says didn't have enough white sauce. Whatevah.

I've got into this Merlin show ever since I saw it with my friend on Saturday - I totally should have watched it when it was on, but I do believe something else was on at the same time so...yeah. But hey it's fun to look at new fandoms - especially if there's attractive fellows to look at, LOL!

Well...the Wednesday Weirdness Meme seems to be missing action, so here's the 30 Days Meme!

Day 29 – Your aspirations, in great detail

Well, as I've mentioned many a time until it actually happened I honestly did not believe I'd graduate high school - as in something would happen and time would stop or I don't know...I just didn't plan ahead. Which kinda explains where I am now, I'm sure.

But! I aspire to be a librarian one day - I'm trying to get a job but it's easier said then done. I do volunteer one day a week at a religious library though, which is cool!

I would also like to be published one day, however, considering that the only thing other than fanfiction for various fandoms I've written is a story about George III (still a WIP) I'm not sure how big the interest factor there. Ah well, keep on plugging away, I may get inspired or others may find good old GIII intriguing!

11:08pm: Seriously! There's a movie on ABC2 called Jet Storm, which sounds like some sort of shonky 80's war movie title, but is in fact a film from 1959 about a nutcase who brings a bomb onto a plane to kill some guy who killed his kid.

I love how they're looking for the bomb and are just tossing suitcases around, better hope that it's not one of those ones that goes off when you move it.

Another thing that bothers me, there's apparently a downstairs to this plane with windows, but on the outside shots the plane only has one level...so, where's this lower level! You think they'd notice this while the were filming the thing.

In other news, I'm tired...dunno why, I think I got a decent amount of sleep, but then I did get woken up rather than waking up on my own, so it might have been at a bad time in the sleep cycle or whatever.

Tonight after church Mum and I went to see The Young Victoria, it was fun! Albert was very attractive indeed and Victoria was played well. There was also some historical licence taken, but they always do that.

Four For Friday

Q1 - Wikipedia: It appears Wikipedia's positioning as the Internet's encyclopedia may be in need of some editing of its own. Media reports quote a spokesperson for the Wikimedia Foundation, which manages the uber-site, as saying that the English-language version of Wikipedia.org will soon start experimenting with designated editors to check for errors, vandalism and opinions sneaking their way into entries involving public figures still living. Have you ever created or edited a Wikipedia entry?

Not created one, but I've edited a few, mostly spelling errors and times when people have put lame comments and whatnot.

Q2 - Hypnosis : Experts estimate over 10 million Americans suffer from disabling chronic pain, and there is considerable scientific evidence that practicing self-hypnosis under the guidance of a certified hypnosis professional can quickly help improve the quality of life for these people. According to Michael Ellner, an internationally prominent self-hypnosis educator and co-author of three books on self-empowerment, the recent spate of bad news about possible adverse effects of popular analgesics and concerns about abuse, overdose, and addiction to controlled pain killers are compelling reasons to consider effective complementary and alternative approaches like self-hypnosis. Have you ever been hypnotized? If not, would you consider hypnosis to treat chronic pain?

Hmmm...well I haven't ever gone under hypnosis, but I've gone to those relaxation type things in Yoga, where you lie on the floor and progressive relax every muscle, which is kind of like hypnosis. It works quite well.

Q3 - Death of a Kennedy: Two prominent members of the Kennedy family passed away this month. Which do you feel had a greater impact on society... Edward Moore "Ted" Kennedy (born February 22, 1932 - died August 25, 2009) -- a United States Senator and a member of the Democratic Party; or his sister, Eunice Kennedy Shriver (born July 10, 1921 - died August 11, 2009) -- founder of the Special Olympics and founder of the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD)?

To be honest I'd never heard of the latter, but having founded the Special Olympics and helping kids is pretty damn important and something to be proud of.
I'm not sure exactly what Ted Kennedy did though, so I'll have to reserve judgement.

Q4 - Era: If you could choose any era other than the one in which you currently live, what era would you live in? (Think ancient Rome, the middle ages, Gupta Empire, Ottoman Empire, industrial revolution, etc.)

Well, I'd be really intrigued to go back to the Georgian Era, but the corsets and the lack of hygiene and what not would grow really old after a while. So I guess I'd go to the 60s, because that would be fun, Woodstock, Flower Power...

Saturday 9

:The Waiting:

1. Have you ever stayed online for a very long time waiting for someone?

Nah, not really, I always happen to be something else at the time, LOL!

2. How do you eat oreos?

Twist them apart, lick of the cream and eat the two halves. The ads have got to me.

3. Are you cocky?

Nah, not really.

4. Did you have an imaginary friend as a kid?

Lots! Good times, good times.

5. What t.v. station do you watch the most?

Crime & Investigation Network
! I love it!

6. Have you ever seen the ocean?

Yeah, I live in Sydney! I see it all the time.

7. Have you ever been hospitalized?

When I was a baby I had a twisted stomach and had to have an operation on it.

8. What's your favorite brand of rootbeer?

Don't like root beer.

9. Could you live without a computer?

Hell no! I'm addicted to it!

LOL and no points to this movie for sending a poor kid in to do their dirty work. That won't scar the kid for life or nothing.

Oh no, they've done it themselves by telling the kid he's gonna get blown up, I see a pyschiatrist in his future.

It did work though, better crazy than dead or something?

So yeah, I'll be heading off to bed now.

9:08pm: Hey fun from [livejournal.com profile] fandom_memes! List ten characters and then answer twenty questions...but don't look at the q's until you've pickted your 10 characters.

You know things are gonna get weird. )

So I'm over here at the parents house because I came over here for Church, it was the Summer Gathering (which means goodies after church), plus I do like to see my Church friends. Also I'd like to go see M tomorrow, although I forgot to bring the book I was going to give her to lend to some friends. Oh well. M will be glad to see me I'm sure.

Hmm the Memes aren't up yet...

At the moment I'm watching a rather odd show about looking good naked...these shows are always weird, since most of them involve people apply on the behalf of their friends. If my friends did that I'd probably kick them in the ass. I mean you should ask a person!

I can't find my hair elastic anywhere, this is irritating because it's humid and its annoying me. Actually, I think I left it in the car, so I better go out and see if I can find it. Also I've got my doona and what not that are in the back.

Well...I don't have anything more to say right now, except I just saw an ad for the Super Nanny and I was wondering how come the kids stay in the naughty corner, wouldn't they just get up and leave? But they don't seem to do so.

So I asked Mum if she ever put me in the naughty corner, she said no, but she put me in the naughty cupboard! Well that was the 80s for you...now a days the Child Protection Service would kick your ass.

Well, I have to and do...stuff.

So ta ta for now!

PS. This is a bit late, but a shout out to George III's father, Poor Fred whose birthday was 1st February 1707. Happy 300th Fred!
anonymoose_au: (My Menz!)
9:38pm: It's the second part of the Monarchy docu, but alas, not much on dear GIII. They're allready onto George IV, sigh! The historians love George IV and Henry VIII even though personally speaking you probably wouldn't want to have lunch with either of those guys. Whereas, I'd enjoy a good dinner with George III, especially since he wouldn't insist on you drinking yourself under the table or eat 60 courses and we can talk about books and stuff!

In other news, I've been trying to do some work on my other ljs [livejournal.com profile] teh_ho, [livejournal.com profile] one_cooldude, [livejournal.com profile] hooked_onb_ball and [livejournal.com profile] trendygwendy, all Spider-Man related. Which means if you don't know Spider-Man you probably won't care.

Back to the doco, George III has just died and David Starkey says "Finally came the day he (George IV) had been waiting for" Now hey, Dad might be crazy, but that's a rather heartless way to put it wouldn't you say? When you think about it though, being heir to a throne really must suck because essentially what you're doing is waiting for your parent or relative to die. Hey that's cheerful.

Plus, George IV seems to be a bit of a poseur, wanting to outdo Napeloen all the time, with his coronation, and the buildings, and the spending of money...GIV really should have got himself a hobby or something.

Moving on, please )

Now we're up to William IV...who is a funny fellow, even less King-like than GIII in his personal life. He liked to go walking in the street, shaking hands and whatnot. He hated pomp and ceremony, so he certainly didn't apperciate all of George IV's stuff. Interesting stuff.

But hmmm...the United Kingdom sure did come close to a French Style Revolution, lucky for Willie IV they didn't!

Hmmm...I guess I should be getting ready for bed, I didn't get enough sleep last night, so I don't want it to catch up on me this week.

Besides I'm sure you're all bored of this history lesson. :O)

Oh, but good news! My boss seemed to be in a much better mood today, with me at least and when I told him about the dent in the car he wasn't mad. Phew!

But I made a goof up at the end of the day, so I'm not looking forward to having to confess to that tomorrow morning...Ah well.

Anyway, I'm watching that Monarchy program, we haven't got to George III yet...I'm not sure how much this guy is going to go into him since this seems to be mostly a history of events rather than the person of the King.

10 Movies That Disappointed You

1. The Matrix - I got totally the wrong idea about the plot of this movie before seeing it, thinking it would be about parallel universe (which, I suppose technically it was). Beyond that the volume in the theatre was so damn loud it almost killed me.

Uuh that's all I can think of really? Generally, I only see movies I know I'll like (they're expensive after all), so that's the only one that really pissed me off. What a waste of prefectly good money seeing that was.

Tina's Tuesday

Dinner Time

1. What time is dinner time?

About 7pm, or whenever I remember too. :OP

2. What is a frequent meal at your house?

Breakfast, sometimes I forget or don't feel like dinner, but I always have breakfast.

3. What do you drink to wash it all down with?

Ice water, I'm not fussy.

A few British monarchs have died from rather inauspicious events...William III died from complications after falling off his horse, which must have sucked, but not as bad as how George II died from a heart attack while on the can.

Moose must sleep, because, like I said, I'm tired as Hell. I sure hope my eyes won't be dry and painful tomorrow, because if so I'll be damn annoyed, because that just hurts.

9:08pm: Now that I've got attention Vote Bart Ahem, in all seriousness they're getting risque on the ABC these days, last week it was full frontal nudity, this week we get see two guys make out among other things. I've never actually seen a dude kiss another dude on TV...

Moving on I realised today that I've been here at the parentals for four nights now! Yikes, I'll definitely have to head home tomorrow.

Also I haven't written on my George III story in quite some time...in fact I haven't written on much of anything since that 12 Days of Christmas Meme, what's with that? Quite unacceptable! Although the slow down has to do with the fact that there are still several things that I quite can't figure out what with these events having occurred over 200 years ago... Sometimes research doesn't conquer all.

So yeah, another week begins tomorrow, and soon it will be the middle of January...crap, they're right it'll be Easter before we know it and then the middle of the year and so on. I have no idea where I'm going exactly...with my life. Perhaps I don't really need to go anywhere? A friend of mine had an interesting entry the other day about how we tend to look at things as been like a story, but really can life actually be like that? Unless you're looking back at someone else's life where there's an end and stuff, probably not.

Well, it has to be said I will be glad to return to the studio apartment if for no other reason then I'll have a consistent internet connection again... I've just typed this entry up again on the older laptop, only to have this one revive the connection again. I ask what the Hell?

Meme Time! )

I'm feeling a bit tired, which is strange considering the fact that for the past two days I've had quite a good sleep in...once again I can only hope I'm not oversleeping. Which is apparently as bad for me as undersleeping.

Plus the ABC has a period drama going on and I always like those, even though this one is based on a book by William Golding and I totally hated Lord of the Flies.

And that's about all I have to say about today.

Goodnight all!

10:10pm: Good news! I don't have to go to the boring Committee meeting and take the minutes after all! Huzzah! I was really dreading it, because seriously, those things are so boring its unbelievable.

I've just been watching an interesting historical drama about Beau Brummell, a man who once hung out with the Prince of Wales, George III's eldest son. Alas, ol' GIII didn't make an appearance since he sure didn't hang out with anyone his son did (and vice versa).

I don't have much else to say about today, went to work, did work stuff etc.

But there's the memes to do of course! :O) )

Well, I better get my ass to bed quick, I'm almost an hour later than I thought. Shame on me!

Goodnight all.

10:56pm: Indeed it is! Tomorrow, I'm meeting my mother in Chatswood to get some skirts taken in and also do some Christmas shopping.

Then on Sunday is my friend's belated birthday party. Hopefully the weather will still be good, because there's supposed to be some swimming.

In other news I've been sitting here not updating this thing for an hour, LOL. Whoops...

In other news, today is the uh...the 146th anniversary of Albert the Prince Consort's death. Ah dear Albert! RIP.

So yeah, I can't be bothered to put up the Memes right now, so I'll just leave it here with this sort and somewhat pointless entry. :OP

Today my co-worker Terry read some of the photocopies I made of George III's letters (as part of my research for my NaNo and George III novel in general) and was most confused. He's quite right, people in those days weren't particularly clear when it came to writing stuff. There's hardly any punctuation, out of place colons, all sorts of flowery crap and odd spellings. It's funny to note though, that George III didn't care for all the flowery crap, so compared to other important people of the time his letters are quite easy to read.

You should see his son George IV's letters if you want to see a guy go on and on...he once wrote a letter forty pages long trying to convince a woman he was in love to come back to England. To be honest I would have got confused and the bored after the first paragraph it's so convoluted!

Oh not I forgot The Chaser Decides repeat on Friday nights! Fortunately it repeats on ABC 2 tomorrow. LOL it's nice to see all the boys in suits. ;O)

Stop Meme Time! )

So I was watching Mythbusters tonight and was most disturbed about the amount of throwing up going on there. I mean one of them actually consented to be strapped into a chair and spun around to see how long it took them to get sick! Who does that, even if you're not emetophobic. There was much ear plugging and squeezing shut of eyes.

Good myths though!

Anywho, I is tired so I'm turning in.

10:01pm: Today is George III's father's birthdate! 1st Feb 1701, very intriguing, but confusing because he was born in Germany, but then he went to England which at the time was still on the Julian calander and thus 11 days behind! This meant that it was possible to recieve at letter from Germany that was dated after it arrived (by English reckoning). To add to all that, the year officially began to March 25th, so the years were off too... This is a bit of a problem in my George III story, because it seems a lot of of people didn't follow that, so yeah...confusing shit!

But yes, George III's father Frederick was absolutely hated by his father George II and his mother Caroline. Seriously! Once when Queen Caroline saw him from her window she declared that she wished he would descend into Hell right at that moment! :Oo As she laying dying she said she was comforted by the thought that she would never have to see he first son again. Da-yamn...

Of course, prior to those events Frederick did seriously provoke them by smuggling his pregnant wife out of the palace, when she was all ready in labour with their first child, and hurrying her off to London so his parents would not be present at the birth! And overall stupid move.

This all seems to have stemmed from the fact that when George I's became King of Britain he took his son, his son's wife and his granddaughters along with him, but left poor Fred back in Hanover at he age of 7 for 14 years! His parents didn't visit him and didn't even write and in the intervening years George and Caroline had two more sons, one of whom died, but one survived and was his parents favourite.

So yeah, over all the family was perfect for a Jerry Springer ep. "My Papa Don't Respect Me" and/or "My Son Disses Me No End."

It should be noted George I and his son were on such bad terms with each other (what with George I having sent his wife to prison for adultery- not minding the fact he was totally screwing people on the side himself!) that he had him arrested! Yikes!

Compared to all this George IV got it pretty easy.

Damn all these George's though...makes explaining shit hard, "So George was totally pissed off at George because George was being a smartass"...

Anyway, moving from the History Lesson I was pretty irritated a few times at work, I feel kinda of bad about the first thing that annoyed me, there's this guy who comes in who has an American accent. I'm not sure what region it is from but I find it real irritating (this coming from me!) and it made it hard for me to concentrate on helping him out. I wanted to keep going "Ssh! Sssh!"

Then this woman came in with her kid, I wouldn't have had a problem with this if said kid hadn't screamed the whole time! Seemed she wanted to run around the room, frankly I wouldn't have minded that, but her mother kept holding onto her so she shrieked. Oooh, like fingernails on a blackboard!

Finally I got annoyed by another woman who patted me on the shoulder...I'm a total weirdo, there are times where I just cannot stand to be touched by anyone, even though I'm usually a toucy feely type.

Yeah, I'm thinking I should really volunteer somewhere more challenging, like a Women's Centre or something, because I'm feeling like a total fake at the Computer Centre were I spend much of the day surfing the web and playing Solitare (and not having much luck at the latter!).But I'm still hoping to hear from Sydney Uni...actually I have heard from them, the sent me an email but it was only to say that they're still going over applications and hope to get back to me next week. Come on now, Papa needs a new pair shorts!

I really do need shorts, I'll have to wear jeans tomorrow because I brought a Magnum ice cream today and somehow got chocolate all over them, sigh! Well, it's been a bit chilly so it probably won't be so bad. If I can move my ass tomorrow morning I could even pop into Vinnies and see if there's anything there.

Things that need changing

List 3 things in your life that need changing (from mode of transportation to places to live to work to anything else you can think of), tell us why, and describe how/if you're going to change it.

1. Get job (see previous entries in LJ)

2. Manage my money (open savings account at the Credit Union down the road and start putting money aside there so I don't have to borrow from my parents, especially seeing as they're not going to be here for seven months! Gulp!)

3. Clean up apartment (I can hardly invite people over here because the place is a total sty! I also need to put away my Christmas tree, LOL!)

Booking Through Thursday

Habit Forming

1. What are your reading habits? Do you tend to read at specific times during the day, or does it vary from day to day, hour to hour, minute to minute?

No sir I'll read anywhere, anytime and in a lot of cases anything! I used to read the back of cereal boxes when I was really bored. I take a Missal to church so I can read along with what's going on. I do like to read last thing before going to sleep though, even if it's just a few lines.

Thursday Threesome

::Slicing and dicing::

Onesome: Slicing-- your way through the fairways of life? Terrible metaphor, -eh? Do you have metaphor or simile that just drives you bonkers when you hear it?

No not really, but when people say "I could care less" it pisses me off so much! No, no that's not right! If you can care less that evidentally means you do care! Duh!

Twosome: and-- on and on and on. What's the duration of your 'long' phone calls? You know, the ones where you just chat and chat and chat? Guys, you may be able to pull an exemption on this one...

LOL, I've talked for about half an hour or so, after that my ear starts to get numb. My mother can talk for more than an hour! And in defiance of your last sentence there, my big bro was once on the phone for three hours straight I swear!

Threesome: dicing-- up anything for the game this weekend? ...or are you taking advantage of the sales? ...or is it a case of "what game?"

There are sales? Well, anyway, I think I may have to hunt for shorts again and also a swimming costume because the one I have is getting on in years. Also Church with the parental units.

Anyway here's a quizz I took yesterday:

PS What's with all these ads about helping men's premature ejaculation problems? I mean OK, fair enough, but then it's like "You'll last for hours". Dude that sounds painful as hell! Crazy.
anonymoose_au: (That George III)
8:36am/9:38pm 29th January (British Time): Well, I'm off by one hour and a couple of minutes, but 187 years ago this day George III died at the age of 81 years, seven months and twenty-five days! Unfortunately for poor GIII he had spent the last 10 years of his life senile and locked up in Windsor Castle! He was hardly visited by anyone in his family (he didn't recognise them when they did) and lived in rooms so cold that his attendants could only remain in them for half an hour (fortunately, GIII seemed rather immune to the cold).

He was not told that his wife had died in November 1818, although he probably wouldn't have been to comprehend it if he had been :O( Although every so often he seemed to be 'with it'. Let it be remembered that for most of the 10 years he was not told of any news or great events or things like that, so it's not surprising he lived in a fantasy world, his mind would have been bored shitless!

In his last years of life he was described as looking like King Lear (from Shakespeares play) and he always seemed to remember he was King, making sure to dress up for dinner and wear his Garter Star (the highest and oldest Order of Chilvary in Britain). He also started referring to himself in the third person as if he was all ready dead and once said. "I must have a new suit of clothes, and they will be in mourning black in memory of King George III, for he was a good man."

Indeed he was! What, what?

I suddenly realised I've missed twenty minutes of my show (which I think goes for an hour) on Queen Victoria and Albert! Albert's my favourite monarch! I even have my own Albert File.

Bummer, I want to hear more about the Albert factor and the reasearch that's been doing on it...I can only hope they'll be a little thing after it about how it's now avaliable at your local ABC Shop. I hope so, I got the first bit, though as I mentioned the actors who played Victoria and Albert weren't a patch on Victoria Hamilton and Jonathan Firth (Colin Firth's younger brother!:O) who played the roles in the mini-series.

But isn't it interesting that their's evidence that Queen Vic thought her servant John Brown (who she apparently had an affair with) was possessed by Albert's spirit!

Damn me, for some reason I had it in my head that it was on Sunday...hmmm, I wonder if anyone else taped it, probably not.

Sigh...

A Look at Albert and Victoria )

21.45pm Hey, Hornblower! Including Archie (aka Jamie Bamber) another one of my favourites!

Hey question of the episode: How the Hell did Captain Pellew get out on the rowboat without getting wet?
Oh my God I love it when Capt Pellew says 'U-nee-form'! Go Robert Lindsay, go! :OD

Yesterday I went to the Powerhouse Museum because it was Free Entry today to celebrate the Museum's Birthday.

As part of the special celebrations, they had this real still operable Steam Engine! Built in 1949 it can get up to speds of 100 miles an hour, if there's "a long stretch of track out front, and you're not pulling cars and you can get the fire hot, and I'm talking hotter than the fires of Hell itself.."

Hee! Hee! So after I had some lunch, chips and nuggets which were rather expensive but sure tasted good, I got in the line to see inside the cab. It took quite a long time and sadly met that I didn't get to see all the exhibits in the Museum as I hoped to.

Here's the photos I took )

Ok, I hope you enjoyed that little look into the past.

Now I have to go because I need to get another keyboard, this one I'm using right now is really sticky, it's totally gross. :OP
