9:26pm: Well, there's sure been a fuck up in the electrical cables that supply my flat, basically whoever used to own this house did something screwy with the laying of said cable, it's supposed to be at least half a metre underground, but instead it was practically on the surface! With all the bad weather that's been happening lately it's a surprise that the power has only died now. But son of a bitch, what a mess!
Although at least I'll be able to go to bed early because once again the district nurse fucked up and didn't come so I need to get to work at 8am again tomorrow. God damn.
After that I went to the library for my volunteering, good times as ever, but on my arrival home I discovered the power wasn't on in my flat. I didn't notice at first until I saw that the clock on my microwave wasn't on. Nor were the lights working. I went down to the main house but the power was fine there, so it was fast becoming a huge mystery.
In the end an electrician friend of there's came over to check out things too and he couldn't figure out what the problem was either, but after unplugging everything in the flat then doing something with the fuse box that got everything going again. The root of the problem seemed elusive...although we noticed the plug for my laptop looked a bit dodgy, so I didn't plug that in. Instead zip watched Million Dollar Minute and then headed to the mall to get a new plug part, the bit that plugs into the laptop itself is fine.
I also picked up one of those portable power things that you can charge up and then use to recharge your phone or whatever when out and about with no access to a power point. It was on special and also available in green so woohoo.
Not long after returning home and turning on the stove to prepare a late dinner, N called me to ask what if anything I'd just turned on and to turn it off right away. A few minutes later he and C practically ran out of the house telling me to turn off everything! Apparently the cable was exposed and arcing and melting a fence that was put up in preparation for the dogs and probably ready to catch fire!
Since all this happened at almost 8:30pm, there was no chance of fixing it tonight, so poor N had to go out to Bunnings to get a really long extension cord to run from the main house to the flat so I can at least keep my fridge going, charge my phone, plug in my TV and Foxtel and chill my water. Oh and make use of a small lamp.
And to top it all off, the flat is a total mess and N and C were quite displeased about that, now embarrassing, I really need to clean this place up and keep it clean! That's what I need to do tomorrow after work and the gym, so wish me luck.
For now though, I'm turning in.
Goodnight all!
