9:52pm: Yes indeed! I'm relieved to report that N in the main house was able to spend today repairing the electrical cable and put it underground again, although he has to go and get some cement tomorrow to pour on that entire area to make sure it's properly secured under there and not likely to come to the surface again any time soon.

So yes, by five o'clock all the power was switched on back up here, and I was able to plug stuff back in, although N has advised me not to have too many things running when I use the stove. Which I haven't done so yet, I had pizza tonight courtsey of N (which considering that he'd fixed my cable for me was really very nice), even though technically I wasn't going to eat meat on Fridays in Lent. Oh well.

In other news today was serious drama at Mrs S's...first thing, my mobile phone alarm didn't wake me up! So instead of waking up at 7am I woke up at like 10 to 8...and I was supposed to be at work by 8! There was no way that was going to happen, I'd just missed the bus that would allow me to do so!

And then because I had to reset my mobile a couple of weeks ago I also no longer had Mrs S's phone number, so as I walked to the bus stop I was semi-panicking wondering how I was going to let here know that I was running late. Fortunately she turned out to be in the phone book - which is the first time in a while I've found a person's number by using the residential look up on the Whitepages mobile site, usually people have unlisted numbers or something. So I managed to at least warn them, but I did say that I was running a bit late, when in all honesty I wasn't going to get there until what was pretty much my normal time. Shiiiit.

Anyway, I did rush a bit at first, but one really can't rush plus I kept getting frazzled so that didn't last for long, but everything was done in time, particularly since the nurse was late again, but at least she came. She was in a rather...er...bad mood, or at least snipping. I have no idea why.

! )

But alls well that ends well, and I was able to help clear things from the kitchen because the render was coming to render the kitchen walls so the tiles can be put up, oh and make sure Mrs S was in her wheelchair and had her morning coffee and all that.

After which I went to the gym and swimming, good times as usual and then I went to do a bit of shopping, since N had messaged to say the power wouldn't be back on until 3pm (well that had been the estimate) so there seemed no point in going home. I went to Lifeline hoping to find a green shirt, but no dice, I did find one of those string bags people use to put their shopping in rather than plastic bags.

I managed to get a garden salad from Coles for 60% off for lunch - which was good, not to mention some other neccessities ahem - BBQ flavoured crisps, LOL. However, I was very disappointed when I found a green t-shirt at the Salvation Army which I was then unable to purchase because I didn't have any physical money on me and didn't have time to get money out or to find anything else to buy in the shop that would bring my total up to $10 to us eftpos.

And the ducks next door are quacking...I'm not sure if it's because my TV is too loud or because the guy next door appears to be chopping wood out there again. It's a weird neighbourhood sometimes! :OP

And since I have to get up early tomorrow so I can go to Aldi to hopefully get those fitness watches I better do the Memes and run!

Hardcovers or paperbacks?

Ooo the eternal question, on the one hand hardbacks are more hardy and have a certain...je nas se quoi and I do love 'em. But I also like to be able to take my books with me when I'm out and about which makes hardbacks not very practical, so I generally go for paperbacks instead. Even so they often ended up getting battered in my bag, so I've taken to putting it in a plastic sandwich bag to protect it. And sometimes I'll get the paper and hardback of books I really love so I can at least have a nice one to read at home.

Take Me To The Old Playground

1. How confidently could you pick up and employ a jumprope, hula hoop. yoyo, and set of jacks? Uh... I could use the jump rope, the hula hoop wouldn't be pretty but I could probably manage a few revolutions. Yoyo...not really and a set of jacks no chance!

2. How are the playgrounds of your childhood different today? Well, in my day we didn't have all that soft fall foam stuff or fences around the playground equipment. Aside from that though...it's pretty much the same.

3. What’s a game you and your childhood friends made up, or what’s a rule you and your childhood friends made up that made an existing game more interesting or less likely to cause a fight? I got nothing...we used to make up stories together, but as far as I recall it never caused a fight.

4. What fad from your childhood do you remember with fondness or disdain? Ha ha, tamagotchis, remember those? I don't think I ever got one, but other kids in my class did and there was always kids worrying their tamagotchi might starve before lunchtime, since you couldn't use them in class obviously.

5. What playground rhymes do you remember? Umm...Miss Mary Mack and...Enie-Meenie-Mino-Mo

And I procrastinated so now I really do need to get my ass to bed! And I still haven't caught up on the Memes whoops :OP

So goodnight all! Wish me luck tomorrow.
