Dude, Where's Our Interest?
May. 28th, 2014 11:44 pm11:22pm: Still no replies from the ad for the apartment! Shiiit...neither Mum and I can't figure it out, we even decided to put another ad up in the short-term section of the Gumtree website since things are getting rather desperate. But nope, apparently people are looking - there's been page hits, but no inquiries! Mum is going to call a real estate person she knows tomorrow and see if he has any advice. I heard that the rental market was slowing down, but I wouldn't have thought it was that much.
I also called re: the newspaper delivery thing, the lady seemed rather concerned that I didn't have access to a car because the papers are apparently in bundles of 10kgs, which is certainly too much to shove into a backpack, I'd have to make multiple trips...plus they don't actually deliver the papers to where I am now but to a street corner in the centre of the run. Anyway, the long and short of it is that the woman sent me a map of the run so I'm going out tomorrow to walk it, because apparently it's meant to be hilly. If it really is then even if I buy myself one of those old trolleys old ladies pull around it might be too damn hard.
I also went to the Industrial Estate with my resumes, but most of them had suites with locked doors and you had to buzz to get in. I'm still not sure if what I'm doing counts as hawking or canvassing, so I hesitated to do it and only went and saw two businesses - because their doors were open. I dropped off my resume at one, but the other wasn't looking for anyone. I also dropped a resume off at the Newsagency nearby, but they're not actually looking for anyone either. Asss.
I need to apply for the library job though and maybe call the US Embassy and see if they got my email because I never got a reply back! That's a bit unsettling. Oh and also find some way to get in contact with my old psychiatrist if he hasn't emailed me back by tomorrow, otherwise I'm screwed.
Oh and I got a plug in router extender thing at Officeworks although I couldn't return the USB one because I forgot to take the receipt with me, but I was assured that as long as I had it I'd be able to get my money back, I hope so.
Anyway...it's boosted the signal up here from poor to fair - there's a decided lack of power points in my mother's friends house - so I had to plug it in not very far away from the actually router. But hey it seems to be working though! Every so often the net seems to drop out but then starts up again without having to go down there or call up to get the router rebooted, so phew!
Aaand, that's pretty much all I have to say for now, I'm watching an episode of Hercule Poirot and although I've all ready seen it I want to see the denouncement! Plus I need to go to bed soon, so I shall bid you all, goodnight!
