9:29pm: I'm watching a show right now about staying young and they've got this 17 year old who because of an interesting genetic mutation looks like 7! It's a very interesting syndrome called Laron Syndrome that has the interesting side effect of keeping those who have it from getting cancer and diabetes.

On the other hand...the guy looks 7 years old! Poor guy must get asked if he's for real every day and I can't imagine he could ever get into a bar even with ID! And...yeah I can't see him ever getting a date, he's got the mind of a 17 year old it seems, but...er...yeah it'd look all wrong. The cops would be pulling his date over constantly! o.O

Moving along, today was Granny Flat inspection day. I did however, make the mistake of going to the mall to return that light purple watch that's too big, I sort of forgot it was a) the school holidays and b) cheap movie Tuesday.

It took me half an hour to find a parking spot! O.o And since it appeared it would take almost that long to get out of the parking lot again I decided I wouldn't stick around for too long, not that I was planning on doing much, except purchase some singlets, but I couldn't find any with short sleeves! So, now I have this refund voucher to spend because I couldn't get an actual refund on the watch because I couldn't find the receipt. Not sure what I'll spend it on since I couldn't find the singlet, but I'll figure something out I suppose.

Anyway, it didn't end up taking that long to get out, thankfully, and I got to the street where the granny flat is in good time and read the book on Fed-Ex until Mum showed up, shortly followed by the real estate agent. It turned out to be a different one because the one who was actually in charge of renting out the place was unwell.

Anyway, it's a bit of a step down from my current place, more like Mum's friend's granny flat, with the fibro walls and small windows. Although...it does have a lot more windows so that's good. The kitchen though is rather sad, I've got used to all the counter space! I don't know if I'm going to fit my stuff in there... There is a spot for my dishwasher but it's rather wobbly so I'm not sure it'll actually work.

As for the furniture, the current tenant is actually moving back to New Zealand so it's possible I might be able to get the washing machine, the table and chairs, and the (surprisingly) huge fridge and maybe the wardrobe in the bedroom/living room area. Apparently, I didn't need to worry about how they decide to picka a tenant if there's a lot of interest because the agents feel I'll be a good pick! The one I met said they were going to start putting together a lease!

It occurred to me later that I'll need a bookshelf or something because there's no big pantry there, I suppose in the meantime I can just stack them in a corner. And yikes, I hope the crates will fit in there, hopefully it will.

In other news, I'm still trying to figure out - five days in - what to work on for my Camp NaNo, I kind of want to do some BTTF stuff, not sure why, I guess because there's so many stories that can be told in that universe. I guess I could also work on my George III story, that is after all the only one that could ever publish were there any interest.

And I can't forget the all-important Librarian job at Manly! I mentioned it to Mum today after we saw the Granny Flat, I'm a bit worried about it, since it really sounds like a management type role, I'm actually supposed to make important decision in the running of the library and stuff! To be honest I'm rather surprised that the Staff Manager at Dee Why thought I'd be good candidate. Maybe she knows something I don't, LOL.

Battle Hymn of the Republic (1968):
... because it's 4th of July

1) During WWII, when he was just 17, Robert Kennedy enlisted in the Navy. He was disappointed he was never involved in combat. Tell us about a time when you felt fate/circumstances kept you from something you wanted. Well, Hell, he shouldn't have been! War is Hell! But to answer your question...I guess I felt that by not taking a chance on taking the full-time position at the ABC Tape Library I missed out on a great job. Do'h!

2) Bobby was trained as an altar boy and throughout his life regularly attended early morning mass. When is the last time you attended a worship service? Last Sunday, my parents did the music and included my favourite hymn, woohoo!

3) He may have been an altar boy, but he was no angel. During junior high he was suspended for punching a classmate. Who is the last person who made you very, very mad? Well...right wing politicians tend to have that affect on me. We've just had an election here and stuff is still up in the air...I may be angry yet!

4) He had his first date when he was a senior in high school. Looking back, Mary Bailey Gimble told Kennedy biographers that she knew he had a crush on her and wondered why it took him so long to ask her out. Tell us about one of your early crushes. Uh...well...it was either Jamie Bamber as Archie Kennedy in Hornblower or Jonathan Firth (Colin Firth's younger brother!) as Prince Consort Albert in Albert & Victoria.

5) Bobby's wife Ethel is as bubbly and talkative as he was introspective and shy. He was organized, she's messy. While opposites may attract, do you believe the happiest marriages are between partners who are more similar than different? Uh...hmmm...I dunno...but considering my mother and father and grandparents I would say having some differences is a good thing.

6) By November 1960, when he was 35 years old, Bobby already had served as legal counsel to two Senate committees and run his brother's successful Presidential campaign. He was looking forward to a quieter life teaching law but gave in to family pressure to become President Kennedy's Attorney General. Tell us about a time when you were at a crossroads. Who influenced your decision? Wow way to make me feel inadequate and unsuccessful, Bobby. Buuuut...I guess I was at a crossroads around this time two years ago, having been made redundant from my office job and let go from the newsagency, my job prospects were decidedly grim. However, with Mum's prodding I enrolled in the Tafe courses which got me main source of income today.

7) In 1777, Colonists celebrated July 4 with the firing of cannons and muskets, followed by a public reading of the Declaration of Independence. What is your neighborhood doing to observe the day? N/A

8) The Revolutionary War still raged during that summer of 1777. General George Washington allowed his soldiers to celebrate with a double ration of run on July 4. Do you know anyone who is serving in the military this 4th of July? N/A. I'm Australian...and I don't think I know anyone in the armed services at all. Grandpa was in the Navy though.

9) Celebrity chef Rachael Ray says she considers mini-hamburgers, or "sliders," the All-American food. What will you be eating this 4th of July? As it's a normal day in Australia, nothing special. I did by some Nutella from Coles though...shame on me, LOL. :OP

:The Controversial Meme:

1. Would you try a recreation drug if all were legalized? Nope, just sounds like a bad idea to be honest.

2. Are you happy that the U.S. Supreme Court once again upheld a woman’s right to abortion? Not a US citizen, but I wouldn't say happy more relieved? It would be a step backwards in women's rights, although my personal opinion on abortion is all up in the air.

3. Would our country cope any differently with a woman president? We had a female prime minister and unfortunately she wasn't treated with the respect she deserved, despite being a very effective leader. Hillary Clinton has her faults I'm sure, but if (when?) she becomes President I hope the majority of the US treats her with respect. She seems up to the job.

4. Do you believe in the death penalty? No, because I think it lessens us as human beings by participating in an action that is abhorrent. I also don't believe it has any deterrent effect either, no-one commits a crime expecting to be caught.

5. Do you wish marijuana would be legalized already? Yes, especially for medicinal purposes, although trials for that purpose have already started here in Australia.

6. Do you believe in God? I do! I was just thinking about that today, actually.

7. How do you feel now that same-sex marriage is legalized? Unfortunately, it isn't here in Australia and there's talk of a plebescite being held to decide it. Which sort of sounds like a good thing until you realise it gives homophobes a platform to spew hate and could have a terrible affect on LGTBIA people and their families.

8. Do you think it’s wrong that so many Hispanics are moving to the USA? Not a US citizen, but no. And if people do worry about it, they should probably look at why. Are the countries they're coming from in bad shape, is there a way to help that?

9. A 12-year-old girl has a baby… should she keep it? That's a tough one...on the one hand 12 is far too young to bring up a child, but on the other separated mothers from their children can really cause problems. I think she should be given the opportunity to see her kid as much as possible, but not actual raise them until she's older.

10. Should the alcohol age be lowered to 18? That's the age here in Aus...we have a bit of a binge drinking culture though, so perhaps we should raise it to 21 instead!

11. Should the wars in the Middle East be called off? I wish they would! I guess you're asking if the Western Nations should pull out, that's a hard one, especially considering the mess we made there. I have no idea!

12. Do you believe in spanking your children? Don't have any, but no, I think it teaches them the wrong lesson.

13. A mother is declared innocent after murdering her 5 children in a temporary insanity case… what do you think? It can happen, post-partem psychosis is a real thing. So provided all the evidence was presented and a jury came to this conclusion I respect it.

14. Would you want to prosecute someone for burning their country’s flag as a method of protest? Nah.

15. It’s between you and a person who is being kept alive (with NO hope) by life support machines… one has to die? Who? I'm going to say me. Except do I have to actual pull the plug? Because if so, that's hardcore. I'd probably still do it...if there's really no hope.

16. Are you afraid others will judge you from reading some of your answers? Well they might judge, but I won't worry...much :OP

Shoot, this entry has gone on waaaay too long, I gotta haul ass! Lots to do tomorrow what with applying for the librarian role!

Wish me luck!
