Well, bad news indeed.
I only managed to send my and my mother's hand cutouts yesterday to Van Nguyen's friends so they can make a mural out of them as part of their appeal. But all ready the news is bad.
The Government has set a date! 2nd December they're going to hang him :O( and they've sent his mother a letter...charming.
This sucks, I can't believe they'd actually do it...personally I'm thinking of boycotting Singaporean goods, and just generally talking crap about them. Did you know for example you can get like a hundred buck fine for chewing gum over there? What the fuck?
Seriously though, I felt awful when I heard it...poor Van Nguyen.
Doubtless this is a sweeping generalisation but sometimes I think people who support the death penalty and especially those who carry it out have no soul. How can they want to be killers too? No matter what the other person has done you'd still be a killer. There's no way I'd do that...I don't want that sort of responsibility.
I guess all we can do now is pray.

Grr.
...Who's Van Nyugen? Name sounds vaguely familiar... might have seen it in the news somewhere...

Now, while I realise the punishment for that is Death, I'm against the Death Penalty in general least of all for a young man who hasn't any criminal record and is offering to name names to catch the big guns.
There's some info here about the campaign for clemency.
Not sure if it'll work, but we can't give up.
Has he shown up on the news there? What kind of press coverage does he get?
