And So On...

11:10pm: Well, I've only just remembered that I was doing that Christmas Meme, but I'm not to sure what I'm writing, since I'm a bit tired here.
But yeah, here's today's offering.
Two Turtle Doves
The book had been an unwanted Christmas present, but not really a big surprise, since Grandma was never really good at coming up with gifts to give.
At least I didn’t actually say so out loud, which is what a few of my cousins would do. Instead I just gave Grandma a small smile and told her it looked very interesting.
Unfortunately for me, Grandma and Grandpa were staying with my father and me for Christmas, so I had to make a show of actually being interested in the book because otherwise Grandpa was sure to lecture me.
So, the day after Christmas I headed out on my bicycle, the book in hand and a pair of my father’s old binoculars.
I ended up out at the lake, which was very quiet since it was pretty cold today, but that was probably good for me since I really didn’t want to run into anyone from school. Especially not Biff.
So I opened up The Amateur’s Guide to Bird Watching to look for some sort of easy to find bird that I could tell Grandpa and Grandma that I’d seen.
Unfortunately for me, there aren’t very many birds around even when the weather is mild.
I did see quite a few interesting things through the binoculars though, on the other side of the lake a family was having a picnic, which ended up in a food fight. All started by one of the boys, who was wearing a racoon skin cap. We’d certainly never have anything like that happen in my family.
Finally, though out the corner of my eye I noticed some movement and swung my binoculars around to see.
On a tree branch sat two small brown spotted birds, who seemed to stare at me as I began flicking though the book trying to find a picture that matched them.
When I finally found it I couldn’t help laughing.
Mourning birds also know as the Carolina Turtledove.
All I needed now was to find the partridge!
Ah, the lameness continues...
3x Thursday
How Were The Holidays?
1. How did this holiday season treat you? Are you glad it's over? Why/why not?
It was good! Although alas, I still have no new laptop...what can you do though?
And is it really over yet, not until New Years Day I'd say, and am I looking forward to it...dunno. Ask me then.
2. How as your health been with this busy time? Did you get sick?
Thankfully no, except for the hayfever, which flared up badly a couple of times...fortunately I found out I'm able to take anti-histamines, so phew! A lot of people on my Friend's List have got colds, get well soon I say to you all.
3. Now that the chaotic holidays are done with, what are you going to do now?
Clean my room...seriously I have to do this before someone in my family comes over and kicks my ass.
Booking Through Thursday
Highlights
It’s an old question, but a good one . . . What were your favorite books this year?
List as many as you like … fiction, non-fiction, mystery, romance, science-fiction, business, travel, cookbooks … whatever the category. But, really, we’re all dying to know. What books were the highlight of your reading year in 2007?
Definitely Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, what a great ending to the series! I was really happy about it because it's hard series to wrap up after all. But all my hopes were realised, so yeah, great stuff!
I'm also enjoying Look Me In The Eye about a man with Apserger's Syndrome, he's related to that guy who wrote The Case of the Mysterious Dog at Night-time or something like that.
And of course a number of old books I found in the library during my research...I love old books! Except when they've got all those damn terminal 's's makes me read like everyone's got a lisp. Still it's fun.
Thursday Threesome
::Angels we have heard...::
Onesome: Angels-- as tree topppers? ...or spires? Stars? Bears? What do you like to use to set off that tree?
I've always been a fan of the star, I'm pretty sure all our Christmas trees have had stars on top, with angels hanging elsewhere on the branches. I'm slightly freaked out by the idea of bears being on the top of a tree...what the Hell?
Twosome: we have-- heard you're getting something special this year! Do you have any idea what any of your Christmas presents are going to be?
Well, I wasn't really expecting any so the fact I got some was really good! I especially liked the Tim-Tams Dad got me and the $50 gift voucher for David Jones from my grandparents was great too.
Threesome: ...heard-- the worst Christmas song ever this year? Which one is it for you? I mean that one that even if Aunt Martha is playing it on Christmas Eve puts you out on the porch!
I mentioned last week the one where the out of tune kids sing the 12 Days of Christmas, what was with that? I heard it again last Saturday, it was really very irritating. I hope I don't have to hear that one again.
And now I'm off to bed, tomorrow I'm having lunch with my mother in town, so I want to be awake for that.
For now, goodnight to you all!
But yeah, here's today's offering.
