10:26pm: Well, it seems I spoke too soon.

This week has been a bit of a pain, on Tuesday there was a special meeting at work involving the Boss, my Grandpa and another guy, who came to judge these entries for an academic award. Anyway, with that done, there was a nice lunch with roast beef, this yummy potato thing and a chocolate and pavlova cake.

Unfortunately, all that has proved a bit too much for my digestive system and I was in quite a bit of pain on Wednesday and still uncomfortable on Thursday. Yesterday I thought I was over it, but it seems to have returned today with a avengence and it really does suck a whole lot. None of the usual medicines seem to be helping either, which is lame. I can only hope that tomorrow I'll feel a lot better. I shall have to take care not too eat too much on Christmas lest I do myself in.

Five on Friday

Season's Eatings

1. What foods do you associate with this time of year?

Turkey, roast potatoes, roast pumpkins, chocolate! :O)

2. Which of them are your favorites? Your least favorites?

I love all of the above :O)

3. What traditional (or nontraditional) holiday foods do you make or buy every year?

Well, there's always the turkey...we come from a family that upholds the English traditions despite the fact it's the middle of Summer here when it's Christmas.

4. Are you more likely to overindulge or abstain from seasonal treats?

Neither really, although this year is a bit off what with the stomach pain all ready being there.

5. With all of the high-calorie temptations at this time of year, how do you manage your diet?

I don't, which will probably bite me on the ass sooner or later. :OP

FOUR FOR FRIDAY

Q1 - Notification: Rose Tani, the 90-year-old mother of astronaut Daniel Tani, died this Wednesday in the Chicago suburb of Lombard. Police said Rose Tani stopped behind a school bus at a railroad crossing and then drove around the vehicle, bypassing the lowered crossing gate. A train struck the elder Tani's vehicle on the passenger side and pushed it down the tracks before stopping. Daniel Tani is believed to be the first American astronaut to lose a close family member while in space. If you were on a space mission, would you want to be notified of a death in your family, or would you prefer that you be notified once you returned to Earth?

Wow, what an idiotic way to die! Seriously, that's just sad. :O( As for whether to tell him or not...well there's not much he can do about it up there, plus if he has important things to do it's probably best he doesn't know so his judgement won't be affected. Still, if it was me I'd be upset either way.

Q2 - Memory: Can you remember what got for Christmas last year? Well, according to a new survey, half of British men cannot remember what was under their Christmas tree. A 2005 Canadian study was the first to systematically mark the onset of "childhood amnesia" in children rather than adults. The research shows that by our tenth birthday our early pre-school memories have receded into an inaccessible past. What is the earliest verifiable autobiographical memory you can commit to?

Well...mine is tainted by the fact that it's a story that was told to me over and over again, so it's kind of a fake memory, but it did happen. When I was one or two I was in a neighbour's pool in one of those inflatable ring things when I fell through it, now I swear I can remember the water closing in over me and my father (who legend has it removed his Rolex first) leaping in to save me. But like I said the story was told a lot.
In regards to what I got for Christmas, I don't think I can remember, except I know what my contribution to Kris Kringle was and that my little bro got it.

Q3 - Strip Clubs: Do you think strip clubs (the ones where the ladies dance for the men) debase women, men, or both?

Frankly I don't see the attraction of going, it all sounds pretty seedy to me.

Q4 - Hold It: This one's an oldie but goodie here on the For For Friday. Right now, from where you're sitting, locate a clock or watch and hold your breath for as long as possible. Okay, now tell the rest of us for how long you were able to hold your breath? (FYI: The last time I asked this question--on May 20, 2004--Kim and Sya held theirs for one (1) minute, Dave and AC went for 45 seconds, I lasted 28, and seven people chose not to even try.)

About 26 seconds, I can't hold my breath for shit.

Friday Fiver

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

1. If you could change your name, what would it be?

Wasn't this asked last week, or was that another meme? Anywho I like my name as is, but I wouldn't mind been called Alexandra or Alison.

2. What is the worst name someone has called you?

Well, 'skunk hair' wasn't particularly polite.

3. If you could meet someone famous, who would it be?

Oooh, ooh! Colin Firth! Heh heh, that Mr. Darcy.

4. How do you like to travel home?

Train probably.

5. What kind of phone to you have?

One cordless phone at home, which I got cheap 'cause it was the display model and a flip phone for a mobile. Fun stuff.

Friday Fun

'Tis the Season Edition

In honor of the impending holidays,...

1. Do you travel for the holidays?

Well, just to relative's houses that are at the most 40 minutes away. I don't like to travel long distances, so this suits me fine.

2. Are the holidays more geared to the kids in your family, or the whole family?

The whole family, since there's not all that many kids now, except for my four year old cousin, Mack.

3. Do you have any special traditions for this time of year?

Well, we always have the traditional roast dinner. And Kris Kringle is becoming a tradition now too.

No Friday Feast this week.

Here in my car, I feel safest of all

1. If money were no concern and LOOKS the only consideration, what car would you get yourself? (pictures for questions like this are always nice!)

Well, da-yamn, a red Ferrari 350 GT, because that would just rock! Although the fuel consumption for that sort of car is quite a worry...

2. If money were no concern and YOUR LIFESTYLE the only consideration, what car would you get yourself?

Smart car, because it's soooo cute and zippy! And there's a million places to park with that thing.

3. What is the best thing about your current car? If you do not own a car, what is the best thing about the car you most often ride in?

I didn't have to pay to buy it! Also it's red.

4. * If cars could be skinned the way cell phones, laptop computers, and iPods can, what would be a really cool skin for your car?

Well, I'd like a nice green car...so yeah, I'm not creative at all when it comes to that sort of thing.

5. If you were going to decorate a friend’s car with a custom-made skin as a practical joke, whose car would you skin and what would it be?

LOL, well, I could do my friend Ben's with a skin of the body's internal organs as he's going to be a doctor. Helpful for exams, but no doubt a complete shock!

TGIF seems to have multiple weeks posted at odd times, I'll get to them when I have more time...

The (Other) Friday Five

Christmas Five

1. What is your fave thing about Christmas?

Presents! (LOL, how Christian of me :OP) Seriously though, the whole family togetherness thing.

2. Did you believe in Santa Clause? If so, what was the best gift from him?

Sniff, indeed I did, right up until I was almost 10 years old...and the best gift I ever got from him was a trampoline!

3. Do you have a Christmas Tree? Ribbon, Angel, Star or ______ on Top?

I do, but it doesn't have anything on top at the moment...my parents' one has a star.

4. Best stocking stuffer you got?

The chocolate is always great.

5. Wishing for a White Christmas?

Heck no, because that would auger very badly seeing as how it's Summer and all.

Well, everyone's all ready gone to bed (I'm at my parents' house) and I'm tired too, so I shall be turning in now.

Goodnight all! (And thanks for commenting in response to my comment meme! :OD)
