Oh That's Sad...
Oct. 28th, 2010 10:42 pm9:43pm: So I'm watching a show called Amazing Medical Stories about a poor chap in China with Elephant Man Syndrome - he's got these huge tumours on his face! They're so big he has to bascially carrying his chin around. o.O Fortunately, he's going to get them removed by surgery so hopefully he'll be able to live a normal life because his parents have to look after him and they're getting old.
So I had to help my mother with church this afternoon once I'd finished up at the library although before that I had to go on a run around with Centrelink and Mission Australia (my job search provider) so I can move from the Liechhardt Office to the Chatswood office, it was a pretty big pain in the ass and it's not entirely cleared up yet.
On the plus side, I don't have to go tomorrow because I'm going for my first day of work at Vinnies! I wonder what it'll involve, since apparently volunteers aren't supposed to be on the registers. That's going to be a lot putting clothes back on hangers if that's so let me tell you.
In other news, NaNoWriMo time is upon us and I haven't considered what I'm going to write! Part of me is leaning towards writing something Merlin related to tap into my excessive fandom interest. Another part of me wants to continue Captain John's tale and yet another part of me is reminded that I should do something with my George III story. After all the latter one is the only one that could get published. If people were interesting in George III that is. I'll have to pick one soon!
Incidentally my DVD burning didn't work - I mean maybe it would have, but six hours is entirely too long to wait. I'm trying to burn one thing on at a time in the hope that'll make things better.
And now, Memes please!
Thursday Thunks
:Today's questions are brought to you by the color purple, witches' brooms, the number 800-555-1000, and hootin' anni:
1] We all love snuggly things, right? In your own words, explain how the "X" and "O" became symbols for kisses and hugs!
Ah...well, I guess when you hug you're in a circle type configuration with your arms and all. But as for x? Well I suppose if you crane your neck it looks like two bird's beaks touching, LOL!
2] Besides eliminating sticks, what would you put in a non-stick pan?
Uh...food I want to cook? I got nothing witty here.
3] x=y over pi squared. What are your thoughts on crematoriums having discounts on those that die in fires?
What? How...inappropriate...I mean how are you even gonna bring that up? Besides it's got to be a very hot fire for someone to become ashes you know.
4] Tongue twisters are fun...but, it's torture to try to say lisp with that "s" in the word. What is your favorite tongue twister? Risque answers get extra credit!
I know! How big of a bunch of fuckers were those speech pathologists. You get the feeling they were having a big laugh.
I don't know any risque ones though - just "She sells sea shells, by the seashore." Which I can't say.
5] Cold weather is coming up. If it's zero degrees Fahrenheit, and tomorrow night it's predicted to be twice as cold, what temperature will it be?
Fortunately it's getting warmer here! But this question poses an interesting mathematical quandry...I guess...minus 20 degrees? Does that work?
6] Your significant other is upset with you, would you rather be skating on thin ice or be in hot water? Why?
Uh...I guess hot water, because then we can have the argument and get on with it.
7] What's worse, expecting the unexpected or being a wise guy?
Uh...being the wise guy? Because people hate a wise ass, but if you expect the unexpected you won't get a horrible shock when weird shit goes down.
8] What brand of vacuum cleaner sucks the best? Mine really sucks!!!
Uh...I dunno, we've got a Dyson it sucks pretty hard - in a good way ;OP
9] How is it one careless match can start a forest fire, but it takes a whole box to start a campfire? Do you like playing with fire?
Because the world's an ass.
10] Toys R us...what was your favorite toy?
We didn't have Toys R Us's when I was a kid, not that I recall...so I dunno.
11] Halloween is near...let's go grave robbing....what would you like to find?
Yeah...no, I'm uncomfortable with that idea. Although...I suppose finding 'the missing link' would be anthropologically amazing!
12] Do you wake up or open your eyes first?
It sort of happens at the same time.
13] What mask would you wear to a Halloween Party?
Most masking totally suck and get very uncomfortable so I'd go for one of those eye mask things. With sparkles on it and stuff.
Booking Through Thursday
Skeletons
In honor of Halloween this weekend:
What reading skeletons do you have in your closet? Books you’d be ashamed to let people know you love? Addiction to the worst kind of (fill in cheesy genre here)? Your old collection of Bobbsey Twin Mysteries lovingly stored behind your “grown-up” books? You get the picture … come on, confess!
Well, I used to be embarrassed I read Sweet Valley High and it's various spinoffs, but now I roll with it.
I do keep my small collection of romance novels from the parentals because they're the ones with the hilariously written sex scenes in them - that would be awkward.
And the 3x Thursday is about Halloween, so I'm gonna skip it, because I don't celebrate it and never really have.
Well the elephant man got his surgery, but he's still got a real big tumour on his face, I suppose they couldn't get rid of it or maybe he needs a second operation. Either way he's doing better. I wonder how he's going and if the tumours are growing back like what happened to that 'Tree Man'.
Well, that's what the internet is for. :OP
But for now, I bid you call good night.
DVD is still going...geeze. I shouldn't try and append to all ready written DVD discs, the computer doesn't seem to like it.
