Everybody Hurts...

10:15pm: Well maybe not everyone, but I sure do! I cant figure out if it's because it's nearly that time o' the month, or because the weights I lifted at the gym on Friday were too heavy or because of my new shoes. Or perhaps a combination of all three... Either way it sucks.
Although it does seem to come and go, right in the middle of work today my poor lower back was so sore I wasn't sure if I wanted to drag my butt to church, however by the time I finished I felt all right, so off I went - although Dad ended up backing out. The new priest was there, he gave a good sermon and spoke really well, which is impressive when you consider English is his third language, he was born in Africa.
Moving along, the show I'm watching called Zombie House Flipping is very amusing, I have no idea how 'real' it is, but right now the team is trying to deal with an alligator in the pool. Why they haven't just called Animal Control...
Oh! And I got the frosting for the cupcakes done this morning and even used my special frosting kit to pipe it onto the cupcakes. They looked very fancy and I got an SMS from Mrs S earlier this evening to say they went down a treat and there's some left over for me to enjoy, yaaay!
What else? Um...I did have something to say, but I wanted to finish my Russian for today (because I keep leaving it too late and end up skipping a day) and now I've totally forgotten what it was! Hmm, I suppose it mustn't have been important.
Although I'm starting to think I repeated myself on a few of those Saturday 9s...some of the ones in August seem pretty familiar? I guess I'll start from the end of that month.
Saturday 9
25/8/16
:Hello (2015):
1) This video begins with Adele and her flip phone. Is your cell phone a simple or a smart phone? Ha ha, I remember when flip phones were all the rage. I was so excited when I got one myself! Except I'm pretty sure by then they were out of style. :OP But to answer the question I have a smart phone, it's not top of the line or anything, but it's pretty good.
2) As soon as her cell is fully charged, Sam disconnects the adapter from the outlet to save electricity. Are you careful about conserving energy? Well, I try...turning the lights off when I go out and stuff, but I don't unplug my electrical appliances and stuff like that when I leave... Mostly because I'd have to reset the clocks every time if I did that.
3) Adele sings that she must have a called a thousand times but her former lover never picked up. Think about the last call you made. Did you get through? Did you leave a voice mail? Or did you just hang up? I called M (my grandmother), the phone rang out so I couldn't leave a message or anything, but she called me back. There was a bit of phone tag though because first she called when I was at church and left a message, then when I called her back she was on the phone to someone else, but then when she called me back I was in the car and she couldn't hear me very well.
4) Adele brews a cup of tea in the video. How often do you drink tea? Year round? Only in winter? Never? Never, because I'm an uninteresting and unsophisticated person and don't like the taste. :OP
5) Adele told Glamour magazine she like two sugars in her tea. Do you watch your sugar intake? No...I should though especially since I keep procrastinating on going to the dentist.
6) This song is about reaching out to someone and extending an apology. When is the last time you said, "I'm sorry?" Uh...gee, I can't remember! That's terrible! Oh wait, I apologised to Mrs S for forgetting to do something last week.
7) Adele was a heavy smoker who enjoyed the habit and didn't quit until 2015, after doctors convinced her it contributed to her chronic throat problems. What's something you know you should do for your health? Cut down on the chocolate and cheese, but they're so delicious and tasty!
8) Even though she is one of the world's highest-earning entertainers, she recently had her credit card rejected while shopping at H&M. She admits she was "mortified." Have you ever experienced that moment at the counter when your card was rejected? Wow how embarrassing! But yes I have...it wasn't that bad I guess. Usually it means I have to go an transfer some money from my savings account (I don't have a credit card per se) although sometimes I can't get data reception in the shop so I have to leave and then come back, which is awkward!
9) Random question: When you were a kid, did you keep a neat or messy bedroom? Ha ha, have you meet me? Messy f'sure! It still is...which I really gotta fix. Come on me, get tidy!
1/9/16
:It's a Man's Man's Man's World (1966):
1) Before he was able to support himself as a musician, James Brown shined shoes, boxed, picked peanuts and delivered groceries. He admitted he didn't enjoy any of those jobs. What was your least favorite job? Ever? Well, I worked at Macca's for like a month, it sucked ass, they didn't train me properly and my feet hurt after every shift and I ended up hurting my toe.
2) What job have you enjoyed the most? Well, I really like working with Mrs S, she's so nice! Also the ABC Tape Centre, man that was great. And any library job really!
3) James loved performing and in the mid-60s, played 335-350 dates/year. Do you have time off this weekend? Or will you be working? Nope, I work every weekend, but I do get Tuesdays and Thursdays off although I volunteer on Thursdays.
4) With that grueling schedule, James spent a lot of time on the road. Do you enjoy traveling and staying in hotels? Or are you a homebody who prefers to sleep in your own bed? Nah, I like to sleep in my own bed. Plus it's not liek I have a lot of money to splash. :OP
5) While Millennials are the largest generation in the workforce, millions of Baby Boomers are still part of American labor. Do you think it's easy or hard for people of different generations to work together? Or don't you think age matters? Hmmm...I guess it depends? If people are nice to each other and respect each other then it can go well, but if not...
6) 72% of employers report that they give their employees sick days. Tell us about a time when you called in sick, but weren't. I've never done that. :OP Primarily because in most of the jobs I have if I'm sick I don't get paid. Although I have to wonder...does that figure mean employers who pay sick days? Or are there employers in the USA who won't actually let you take a day off unpaid even if you're ill? Because if so, fuck that.
7) According to the 2010 Census, 5.9 million Americans regularly work from home. Is working from home something you have/you would enjoy? Or do you benefit from interaction with coworkers? Nah, I'm so easily distractible there's no way I'd get any work done. Plus, I need some human interaction now and then and I wouldn't get that if I worked from home!
8) 12% of workers report they prefer to report for work early -- before 7:00 AM -- so they can get more done. Are you a morning person? OMG...hell no! Although I like the idea of finishing early, starting before 7am is a big no no.
9) The NFL season starts on September 8. How do you think your team will do this year? N/A.
:Mr. Boombastic (1995):
1) This song is a rather shameless come-on by an accomplished ladies' man. Do you enjoy flirting? Never done it, but it's not really my thing I would think.
2) Shaggy sings that he's like a turtle coming out of his shell. Do you think turtles, snakes and lizards make good pets? Or would you prefer a companion animal that has fur or feathers? Sure, although I've got Plushenko the fish, so I'm not planning on having one. And I did love having a bird when I was a kid, but my mother did the cage cleaning so I guess I should stick to animals that are easier to care for.
3) He also sings that if you don't feel like driving, you should hand him the keys. Are you comfortable letting others drive your car? Depends, if they were tired or something no, but otherwise I'm OK.
4) He tries to woo the girl with the promise of a bubble bath. Do you enjoy relaxing in the tub? Or do you view baths and showers as simply part of your hygiene routine, like brushing your teeth? I haven't had a bathtub available to me in ages, I do love baths though...I kind of want to splash out and get one in my apartment, the shower in there is quite wide so I think maybe could be fit in there.
5) Born Orville Burrell, Shaggy took his stage name from his shaggy hair. Using your hair as inspiration, what would your stage name be? OMG, that's his name? Wow...As for me, I'd be Bushy McBushhair LOL.
6) Sam admits she hadn't thought about this 20+ year old song in years, until she heard it on a Chase Bank commercial. According to the Federal Reserve Bank, checkwriting dropped more than 50% between 2000 and 2010. Who received the last check you wrote? I've never written a cheque or had a chequing account. But then I didn't have a bank account until 1999.
7) Which would you prefer to receive in a birthday card: a $25 check or a $20 Target gift card? Hmmm, I guess the cheque, because it's more!
8) Sam's mother refuses to pay bills online. All the news stories about data breaches scare her. Have you ever been hacked? If so, did it take long to get the situation resolved? Well, not hacked, but my Yahoo email address has been spoofed a few times so I end up getting all these bounced messages in my junk mail! One time, Grandpa got one of those emails but fortunately he didn't open it.
9) In 1995, when this song was popular, Michael Jordan "unretired" and returned to the Chicago Bulls. Tell us about a decision you made that you wish you could undo. Hmm, I dunno, I used to say I should have gone for the full-time contract at the ABC Tape Centre rather than the part-time one, because the full-time person had their contract extended and I didn't...but I gotta let that go so...Can't live in the past, man!
Right, it's almost 11:30pm and work's tomorrow so I better wrap this up and get ready to hit the hay!
Goodnight all!
