10:32pm: That's an apt description of the Canasta game I played with M today. At first I screwed up majorly and handed M a huge score! But then I crawled my way back into contention before at the very last moment of the fourth hand M was able to get the two Canasta's needed and go out. Aaaah, booo, alas! I so need to concentrate when I play cards, I get distracted so easily!
In other news, I'm watching the new Whose Line Is It Anyway?, I didn't realise we had it here on Australian TV! It's still funny as Hell although I miss Drew Carey! I wonder why he was brought on to host? Still, it's pretty cool a woman was picked. Although I have no idea who she is.
Anyway, I ended up getting to M and Grandpa's late because I forgot to plug my phone in before going to bed last night and it ended up going flat. A fact I didn't realise until I got to M and Grandpa's and went to look at it. At first I was most concerned because the last time it got flat it took me like five minutes to get it to turn back on, but fortunately after I plugged it in over there it came to life. At which point I recieved a message from Mum, apparently there was something wrong with the reference number I sent her for the BMW's insurance. Which means it wasn't paid, which means technically unless she's done it now (when I got home I checked the bill and it turned out I'd mixed up two numbers) I shouldn't use the car tomorrow. But I said I'd bring it over so I could help Mrs S with some of her moving, although it should be OK, since when I paid the insurance on the Chery despite it been like two weeks late the person asked if I'd had any claims to make.
But that reminds me, I also need to call Vodafone because Dad managed to lose his phone so I have to get it cancelled before the 8th of June and the new billing cycle starts. Or someone gets hold of it uses it for nefarious purposes.
What else to report? Uh, not much...oh wait, the lunch up at the Retirement Village dining room was seriously good eating, Lamb roast and there was even dessert! Good times, good times.
Oh! And also through a combo of poor decisions and having to use my mobile hotspot earlier this week I finally used up my mobile phone's monthly data usage. Or wait...did I? I can't remember if it's 2Gb or 2.5Gb I should check that.

Hectic
1. How do you keep your cool when forces beyond your control mess up stuff that’s usually within your control? Ahhh, I don't as a general rule. So I end up calling my mother for sympathy!
2. When working with others, what’s one thing about someone else’s working style that might drive you bananas? Micromanaging, because if someone asks me to do something, but then proceeds to give me blow-by-blow instructions it totally distracts me and pisses me off.
3. In what kind of situations do you find it not so challenging to remain at peace even when most others are being driven mad? Ah...I tend to freak out quite a lot. Perhaps a messy house, it's not too good in here, but I can take it.
4. When you come home at the end of a long work week, which of your basic needs are you most likely to attend to first? The need...the need for cheese. I'm not actually kidding. :OP
5. What would be a good theme song to describe your week so far, and what song best summarizes your expectations for the weekend? Umm...gee I dunno? I suck at these kinds of questions, plus I can't think of any songs that would fit!
The (Other) Friday Five
Random!
1. If you could be any animal, what would you be and why? I'd like to be a dolphin! They're intelligent and they seem to have so much fun!
2. If you could have any career that you wanted, what would it be? A Library Assistant! Ah...one day, one day...
3. What color do you think best describes you? Neon green I think, :OP
4. If you could move anywhere, where would you go? Well, I like being within reach of my family, so...probably not too far from here. Maybe back to Newtown, except that would make getting to my job hard. If nerves and money were no object, New York!
5. What would your ideal home be like? A place with lots of bookshelves and storage space for my crap. :OP
Saturday 9
:California Nights (1967):
1) Lesley Gore premiered this song on an episode of Batman. She played Pussycat, the protegee of Catwoman. (That explains her outfit in the video.) How many of Batman's nemeses can you name? Um, the Joker, the Penguin, the Riddler, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn...which isn't bad since I don't much care for Batman and have never seen any of the movies.
2) At least five actors have played The Caped Crusader already (Adam West, Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, Christian Bale) and Ben Affleck will play him in 2016's Batman vs. Superman. Who is your favorite Batman? (If any Batmen were inadvertently omitted, Sam apologizes.) As said I haven't seen any of the movies or shows, but I think I'd enjoy Adam West because he's hilarious, plus campy 60s Batman, LOL!
3) Unlike most superheroes, Batman doesn't have any superpowers. This Saturday, you're more fortunate. We're bestowing any superpower on you that you want. Which would you like? Teleportation! It would make my life so much easier and better! Imagine I could teleport to Japan and see Plushy skate live! To say nothing of other places I could zip too!
4) Though she's singing of warm California nights, Lesley Gore was a New Yorker, born in Brooklyn and, in February of this year, dying in Manhattan. Which coast have you spent more time on, the West Coast or the East Coast? Not living in the US, neither, although in Australia I've spent most (read pretty much all) of my time on the East Coast.
5) Not many people know that while she was making records, Lesley was also a student at Sarah Lawrence and graduated with her BA in 1968. What's something we would be surprised to know about you? I'm a bit of an open book so there probably isn't much that is surprising.
6) In 1967, when this song was popular, the best selling new camera in the United States was the new Polaroid Swinger. Think about the most recent photo you took. Did you use a camera, a tablet, or a phone? My phone. And what a name for a camera, LOL!
7) The big fashion trend of 1967 was bright tights, in shades like Hot Pink, Shock Orange and Grass Green. Tell us about something you wore when it was trendy but now you look back and think, "Oh, God, that was awful!" My lack of fashion sense meant I don't think I've ever worn something trendy...I've made some bad clothing choices, baggy stuff and whatnot.
8) In 1967, drivers complained about "gas wars." The price was unpredictable and would rise and fall, day by day, as much as 30¢ per gallon. How much does it cost you to fill up your tank today? Funny you should ask as since I'm using my parents car I happened to put in $20.20 worth of petrol in it today. Which was $1.35 a litre, although I got 4 cents off a litre.
9) Random question: Are there dishes in your kitchen sink right now? No...because they're on the counter. Ahaaa!
Oops, after behaving oddly all evening, the internet has decided to conk out, so I'll have to send this through my mobile hotspot and then it's off to bed.
Wish me luck tomorrow!
Goodnight all!
