It Was Supa-Duper!
Jun. 19th, 2011 11:11 pm10:39pm: Supanova that is! That's where I spent the day with some friends. We got there about half an hour after it opened for the day and had to stand in line for some time (in fact, rather ironically it appeared that most people pre-paid so it would have been faster to just pay at the gate! Although you did save by pre-paying, but only $1.70).
Lots of people came dressed up of course! Amusingly I saw three different Wallys (or Waldos for the Americans), a couple of them more than once LOL! As well as lots of Picachus, differen incarnations of Dr Who and later on in the day what could only be called Furries.
I meanwhile, wore my self-designed BTTF: 20th Anniversary t-shirt. And at one of the stalls my friend found this kickass BTTF page! It reads 'My Trilogy Kicks Your Trilogy's Ass' - the latter being Star Wars (and of course they made use of both movies' iconic fonts) LOL! It drew some comment from my other friend Andrew and this friend of a friend we met up with. Hee!
I also found at 1:16 scale inch model of the DeLorean (from the first BTTF) for $25! With opening gull-wing doors and a 'big pole and hook' (as so described by Doc) to add to the realism.
Oh! And we got to attend the Q & A session with James Marsters! :OD It was most exciting! But alas I still couldn' bring myself to spring money for an autograph or photo. Although at one point during the day I went over to see the autograph line, and poor Gareth David Lloyd had no-one in his! :Oo I almost felt bad enough to spring $30 to go over and get one from him. But I ad no idea what I'd say except giggle like an idiot. So I didn't. Honestly, Aussies must have missed the Ianto-fangirl wagon! I thought he was the fan favourite! Shame.
My only regret is that I didn't get to show James Marsters the Captain John dolly my friend Zep made for me, it's adorable! But I'm a cheapskate what can I say. :OP
Oh! And there was lots of Daleks around too, hee.
But yes a huge fun day! Although I really must get my orthodics checked, my ankle and bottom of my foot stopped hurting but then the side of my big toe was most uncomfortable. Dang it.
Ah what can you do?
( And now Memes! )
Right, I best be off, I be sleepy! Must have been from my very busy day indeed!
Goodnigh to you all!
