Four for Tea!
Jun. 1st, 2016 11:24 pm10:58pm: Afternoon tea, that is, and the fourth person wasn't Grandpa - he did play golf today after all - but my Great Aunt Margaret, who also lives on the Northern Beaches not all that far away.
So after finishing with Mrs S this morning I hurried on home to begin cleaning, fortunately as mentioned I've been very good with keeping the place generally tidy, so I was able to straightening everything pretty quickly. Then I had to do actual cleaning - wiping down surfaces as Mum says as well as vacuuming and finally mopping the floor.
I ended up leaving half an hour earlier than I should have - that's one way to be on time! - as it turned out though, I needed to stop by the Vinnies in Narrabeen because as Mum reminded me I didn't have a milk jug or sugar bowl. There were actually a few there, but they were either part of sets or like 20 bucks each! I guess the later was because they were pretty nice ones. However, I did find two little glass milk jugs for 5 bucks each so I purchased those. Unfortunately, for me I managed to break one of them when I got home! Hmpf! Smooth move, me. However, I have a small bowl anyway, so I used that for the sugar, which I guess turned out for the best. Putting sugar in a jug is a bit odd.
Anyway! After buying the jugs I headed onwards to the school, parking in the shopping area across the road and reading my book until it was time to head on over. By this point it had started to rain again, which may have contributed to the class being rather unruly today and for some reason kids kept leaving the class to go to the bathroom! That's never happened before...I think maybe the fact there was a substitute teacher today might have had to do with it. Or maybe the weather too, if it was pouring down at lunchtime the kids probably didn't want to go out in it to get the the toilet block.
The rain had pretty much let up on the drive home, but the traffic was not that good, so it took Mum a while to get to my place with M. Also Aunt Margaret went the wrong way so she was also a bit late, however! That did give me enough time to make the cupcakes look all nice with the cream. :O)
M was also getting rid of some old cups and saucers, and since I have none, she brought them over for me to have. There's a mix of them, but they're all very nice, although I'm not sure how often I'll get to use them since I don't drink tea! And my hot chocolate would probably fill three tea cups, LOL.
Oh and Mum also bought some egg sandwiches she'd made, so a very civilised afternoon tea was enjoyed by all. :O) They also let just in time for me to watch my Letters & Numbers.
Mum did look at my purple shirt, but aside from suggesting I go to a sewing class or something she couldn't advise me much. She didn't seem to think it would be ridiculously short on me though, so I have hopes.
On the downside, despite attempting to follow the instructions in the manual I downloaded I can't get the automatic button hole function to work. I'll have to do it by hand, and also redo the buttons, because I sewed them just tonight, but not in a completely straight line. Obviously this is what rulers are for. Man, I really need to embrace the measure twice, cut/do once.
Okedoke, better wrap this up, as soon as Air Crash Investigations is over I have to hit the hay! I hope to have more about my shirt tomorrow.
For now, goodnight!
