The Day Has Slipped Away...Again!
Apr. 19th, 2009 01:05 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
11:54pm: Waaay too much RPing going on! I didn't even have a shower until like 4pm! And I had no chance to go out, which is a shame because I could have used some more cheese and carrots and some other stuff.
In other news, no luck on the apron front! I can't believe how hard it is to find an apron for you Sim! Which is a shame because I know just what Capt John will wear to the competition tomorrow. LOL!
Anyway, I've decided what the Hell, I'll update after midnight tonight, that being the case I get to do...
3x Thurdasy
Hopey So Far...
1. How do you think President Hopey (Obama) is doing so far in general? Is is better than 8 years of Boner Jr. so far? Why/why not?
LMAO! What a nickname! I would have called him Canny, because of the whole 'Yes We Can' thing. But anyway I think he's going great! It's really inspiring to see him on TV talking intelligently about world events and bringing about some essential changes for US policy. He's got an open mind and that's good in these swiftly changing troubled times!
2. What do you think about the kind of reform/changes regarding the economy, health care, energy, and foreign policy that Sir President has proposed? Do you think it'll work? Do you think his lack of a timetable is just, or do you think it's just the same political BS, different flavor?
I don't know the details of most of those, but hey! It's nice to hear that the official US policy is that 'carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases pose a threat to human health and the planet'. I'm not sure that Australia has reached that point yet! :OD As for Health Care, well, the US sorely needs. What's the deal with that? Anywho, I think he's doing great!
3. What about Mrs. Hopey? What do you think of Michelle Obama so far? Do you think she'll make a good First Lady? Why/why not?
Don't know that much about her, but she seem intelligent and good dress sense and everything (I liked that presidental election victory dress! :OP) so yeah, that's all I can say about her right now. LOL you didn't ask about the First Dog, Capt John is bummed it wasn't a poodle, LMAO!

Windfall
Whether you’re one of them or not, what would you spend an unexpected windfall on? Say … $50? How about $500?
(And, this is a reading meme, so by rights the answer should be book-related, but hey, feel free to go wild and splurge on anything you like.)
Well, Tax isn't due here until 30th June, but in April just about everyone got a cash bonus as part of the Government's stimulus package! A fair chunk of change indeed! I was going to spend mine on getting a recordable DVD player, but after recent...finacial unpleasantness I think I'll hold off on that. The problem with getting books is that my apartment is ay too croweded all ready, so sadly no new books for me!

Four For Friday
10/04/09
Q1 - Pictures: Privacy groups in the United Kingdom want Google's 'Street View' service to go away. In support of the effort, residents of the village of Broughton in Buckinghamshire formed a human barrier to stop Google from photographing their village last week, expressing fears that an online display of the resulting images was an invasion of their privacy and would contribute to the facilitation of future crime. Would you object to Google's Street View vehicles driving through your neighborhood and taking and displaying on-demand pictures that included your home?
Nah, but then I live in an apartment building so unless I tell someone which apartment it is no-one's gonna know. :O) I got nothing.
Q2 - Assurances: As we worry less about what car we drive to work and more about whether we have a job to drive to, car companies are throwing us a security blanket of sorts. Hyundai offers protection for new buyers who lose a job and can't make their monthly auto payment. General Motors, Ford, and Saturn recently followed with programs that provide varying degrees of protection to distressed customers. If you were in the market for a new car, would you be swayed by one of these assurance programs?
Nah...but then I'm not really in the market for a car so I can't really imagine it, so hmm maybe if I think really hard about it maybe I would...although impending job loss may put me right off.
Q3 - Optimism: President Obama said this week that the U.S. economy is showing signs of progress as a series of his administration's policies begin to kick in, despite mounting unemployment and rising foreclosures. In remarks to reporters, the President said: "What you're starting to see is glimmers of hope across the economy," adding that it's too soon to make any firm pronouncements. Do you agree with the President's opinion?
Yeah things seem to be going better these days...so fingers and toes crossed!
Q4 - Balance: Which of the following best describes how you generally handle your credit card balance at the end of each month: do you pay off the entire balance, make a partial payment, make a minimum payment, or do you not use credit cards?
No credit cards, I have a debit card that can act like a credit card sometimes, so I can buy stuff over the net and not ave to pay Eftpos fees and stuff, but it's always my own money. Which is best, I say!
17/4/09
Q1 - Lending a Helping Hand: What's the furthest distance you've traveled to temporarily help a family member or friend (think: change a tire, move, etc.)?
Ummm...hmmm...well I once went to Ryde to pick up tickets for last years Final Mass for World Youth Day and another time I drove my little bro to North Ryde in absolutely pouring rain for his driving test, which sadly, he failed.
Q2 - Age: From Satchel Paige... How old would you be if you didn't know how old you are?
Well at some points I'd probably pass for 15, LOL!
Q3 - Reform: Which do you believe poses the greatest threat to true government reform at the federal level in the U.S.: Democrats, Republicans, the two-party political system, all current politicians and elected officials serving at the Congressional level?
Huh?
Q4 - Cooking: According to my friend Meagen, everyone's really good at cooking one dish or meal in particular. What is the one meal you cook really well?
Cakes! Which isn't too good if I need to use weight one day!
