Libraries and Lining
Sep. 2nd, 2015 11:00 pm10:32pm: Yes, today was a library shift, which I enjoyed as usual! Except there were a few moments when I wasn't sure what I was doing, such as when I answered the phone and the patron on the other end was enquiring about something I had no idea about. Or when one of the computers wasn't communicating with the printer, very irritating.
But, I did manage to troubleshoot someone with the scanner...although as it turned out the woman had done it right and just hadn't clicked on the USB icon thing to actual see what was on it. Whoops.
I also found some books and a DVD to borrow, heh, I had a dream a week or so ago when I was told that I wasn't allowed to borrow from the library anymore! o.O Because the books were for patrons not employees. Glad that was just a dream, because that would have sucked so hard.
As for the second part of my subject heading, I attempted to attach the bodice to the skirt with dress pins to see how it would look, unfortunately, the dress part - which I'd all ready sewed - was too tight! Obviously it's meant to have a bit of the zipper in it, so I unpicked it a bit and tried again at which point I almost got stuck inside! Eventually I managed to get into it and it looked OK, but a three section circle dress doesn't work, plus the skirt was really quite tight, so I decided that I'd add back in the fourth section which meant lots of unpicking. Especially since I sewed it when I had set the machine to do really tiny stitches, but I managed it so hopefully it'll work out.
I've also taken out the lining from the skirt because I'll be wearing a petticoat under it anyway, plus I don't have enough lining left anyway so yeah, that wasn't working.
And I did promise pictures...but I haven't got them off my phone yet, so you shall have to wait a bit longer, which I'm sure you can do :OP
And I'm still considering getting one of those dressmaker models from Lincraft, the only issue...the top of the small model will fit my measurement, but my hips are like a centimetre wider...Which I guess as long as I don't use it to make pants...But then when will I ever use it again, I guess I should resist the idea, although I was thinking I'd use it afterwards to put my hats and scarves on.
I did try an see if there were any dress models for sale at Vinnies near Mrs S's place, and they did have them except they were for display only, boooo! And there were none in the Salvos where I got my sewing machine. Ah well, guess it's not meant to be.
Aaaand, I thought I had something else to say, but I don't, which is probably for the best as I've been getting quite the sleep deficient this week, I even napped today! Shocking! So yes I shall be off.
Oh yeah, now I remember, Plushy has re-emerged on social media - phew! He seems quite cheerful too, so hopefully that means his back doesn't feel so bad anymore! Yaaay!
Although my coccyx remains sore whenever I sit...if it's not better by Friday I'll have to go to the doctor. It seems it might be the chair after all...so I'm sitting on an extra cushion now. I hope that does something.
