9:10pm: Which is quite a task, but this one has the children of the Hoarder - now deceased - consulting a psychic! Can't say I've ever seen that before o.O But they've got some professionals in now to clean it up properly. Because yeah, it's pretty bad.

Although I probably shouldn't be watching this show, the friends and I were discussing this when we met up on the weekend and they're totally exploitative shows. Even though they do make me feel better about my lack of neatness. Although the apartment is looking pretty bad at the moment as I have this terrible habit of just tossing my clothes on the floor when I put my pjs on at the end of the day, LOL. But I better clean it up before I go to bed because I'm going away this weekend so I won't be able to do it tomorrow evening or Saturday morning as usual.

Speaking of the weekend, I have to get my clothes prepared, Mum and I discussed what I to wear as there's both a party during the day and a dinner at night, but alas I have discovered the shirt I was going to wear for the party isn't here. I think I packed it away with my summer clothes, do'h! I do have another shirt, which hopefully will pass muster. She's gone out shopping tonight though so I have to wait for a bit before I can call her.

In other news, I got my face done, yay! I also bought some rings at one of those accessory shops, alas upon bringing them home and trying them on properly I've discovered I should have bought the small size, not the medium, do'h! I have the receipt so I'll be able to return them, but I can't recall if they had any small sizes of those rings available. I hope so! Sure they're cheap but they do look pretty. Plus I could use some rings, I used to have one which was given to me by my aunt for a Confirmation gift but it disappeared a few years ago. :O(

And now...My Strange Addiction is coming on, oh dear...I should stick to that show about weird obsessions, the people on that show may have weird obsessions, but they seem be living life all right not buried in boxes or eating paint or whatever.

Anyway, I better meme and get to my cleaning and the Pinkie Pie icons (I'm just resizing the images now).

Imagery Part 2

Connected to last week’s—it’s one of the ways writing has changed. Books from a century or two ago spent huge swaths of text describing locations and character traits, but modern writing does all of this in shorthand. You might know a character is short with blond hair and blue eyes, but the author leaves the rest for you to figure out on your own. The writer might tell you the story takes place at a beachside town, but leaves the details to your imagination. Why do you suppose this is? Is it that we have shorter attention spans these days? That, bombarded with video and photos as we are, we don’t NEED every detail of an unknown scene described, because we have a stock of images already in our heads?

Hmmm, this is actually an interesting question! Especially since I hadn't really notice until this question was raised! Older books like those by Jane Austen and Thomas Hardy et al are certainly packed with long and dare I say overly detailed descriptions. Well, Thomas Hardy and the Bronte sisters are more prone to this than Jane Austen, I certainly have trouble reading their books because you just get so bogged down!
But I think the writer of this question has a point, with photography and television people do tend to have 'stock images' in their heads so they don't need a blow by blow description of stuff these days.
Although it probably also has something to do with shorter attention spans ;O)

Right, off I go!
