10:06am: From
docsgirl's LJ.

You are breakfasty, like a pile of pancakes on a Sunday morning that have just the right amount of syrup, so every bite is sweet perfection and not a soppy mess. You are a glass of orange juice that's cool, refreshing, and not overly pulpy. You are the time of day that's just right for turning the pages of a newspaper, flipping through channels, or clicking around online to get a sense of how the world changed during the night. You don't want to stumble sleepily through life, so you make a real effort to wake your brain up and get it thinking. You feel inspired to accomplish things (whether it's checking something off your to-do list or changing the world), but there's plenty of time for making things happen later in the day. First, pancakes.
Well, my cold has moved to the next stage where my nose is stuffy but not running like a tap. I also had a sore throat, but lucky for me I've got Strepsils here so that took care of that.
So the plan today is to basically sit around on my ass, maybe get some cleaning up, seeing as it's pretty wet outside and I'm just lazy. :OP
Five on Friday
Chicken Soup
1. How often do you get sick with a cold? The flu? Something else?
Hmpf! How ironic! I've got a cold right now. I usually get one or two a year, although I often wory that I'm getting a cold, but luckily it doesn't end up turning into one.
2. Are you the sort of person who goes to work or school no matter how sick you are or are you willing to stay at home when it gets bad?
Well, I for one would never go to work with a stomach virus, if someone I work with ever does that I'll kick their ass so hard! With a cold...well, if I don't feel really awful and stay at my parents house so it's not far to go, I'll show up.
3. How do you like to treat a cold? What remedies do you like and why?
Well, I think that Horseradish + Garlic + Vitamin C did me good, unforturnately I don't have anything here in the apartment, I may have to go out to get some. Our maybe I'll just eat fruit. I also like Strepsils. However, because of the ADD medication I can't have Cold & Flu tablets 'cause they've got psuedoemphedrine in them.
4. What do you do to keep from getting sick in the winter?
Er...not hang out with people who are sick I guess? That's really why people get sick in the winter because they're in close quarters with others. Also eat fruit, that's really good for you.
5. What is your favorite thing to do when you stay home from work or school?
Well, if I'm actually sick sick, sleep because I feel like complete shit and can barely keep my eyes open. If I'm only kinda sick, watching TV and basically doing the stuff I do with my free time when I'm not sick.
FOUR FOR FRIDAY
Q1 - Economy: Do you think the U.S. economy will improve, worsen or stay the same upon the election of the next President?
Uh...I dunno. Depends what the next President chooses to do. Ecomomics is not a strenght of mine, what with all the numbers and stuff.
Q2 - Interviewing: Have you ever had a really bad job interview? If so, what happened? If not, can you recall the best or worst interview question you've ever asked or been asked? If not, what's one question you would like to ask a potential employer during a job interview but would not (for fear of not getting the job)?
Oh fuck yeah, like the time I was like two minutes late, but the interview went ahead and at the end the interviewer said "Well, you sound like you'd really fit in and do a good job here, but because you were two minutes late I knew right away I wasn't going to hire you." Well if that's the case why the Hell did you bother interviewing me?! Jerk! Also, I was dressed to the nines to look presentable and the boss looked like some caravan trash. Asshole.
Q3 - Women: How would you feel if a woman became President of the United States of America?
I've got no problem with that, as long as its a good and responsible person I don't really care what gender or race they are.
Q4 - How Long: Give this a try (not to worry, a new window will open and it is work-safe): Click on this link, read the ensuing instructions, try the exercise at least three times, and report back on your best result. Good luck!
Wow I sure do suck at that, my best time in my first three goes was .321 seconds, I blink slower than that! -I think?
Friday Fill-In
1. I'm looking forward to getting over this cold.
2. New York is a place I always wanted to visit and haven't made it there yet.
3. I've fallen in love with Mr. Darcy (aka Colin Firth).
4. Six of one, half a dozen of the other.
5. Addiction sucks (unless it's to something non-lethal and even then it can get you in trouble.
6. The Simpsons crack me up!
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to sitting on my buttocks, tomorrow my plans include more of the sameand Sunday, I want to _____!
Friday Fiver
Hush Your Mouth
1. Do you like the thrill of a chase?
Nah, I'm not much of a runner. :OP
2. What winds you up?
Er...my big bro, he can be a total asshole!
3. Are you a loud talker?
I SURE AM!!!
4. What comes easy to you?
Writing! :O)
5. What did you dream about recently?
I had the most bizarre dream the other night where two girls I didn't like from school started working with me. I have no idea what they were doing there...then there was something about people playing pianos and I think there were some dead bodies buried in someone's garden.
Friday Fun
Clotheshound Edition
1. Do you have to dress for work? If so, what is your “uniform”?
Well, I do have two shirts with the company logo on them, one's black and ones white, but it's not required that you wear them. Mine's a very casual workplace. In fact you don't want to wear anything too fancy in case you have to go down to the boat to get something.
2. How would you describe your style when dressing for yourself, rather than work?
Pretty much the same. I don't much care what I look like as long as the colours match and whatnot...
3. I have noticed that there seem to be two kinds of dressers in the winter months. Those who love turtlenecks and those that abhor them! Which are you?!
Ahhh...I like turtlenecks although sometimes they're really itchy and I don't like those ones.
4. It’s lounging time on the couch in the evening. What are you wearing?
What I wore to work...unless it's quite late or it was raining and my clothes get really wet during the days then I'm wearing my pjs.
5. Describe your favorite “feel good” outfit!
Albert the Tuxedo dress! He's so great! Unfortunately there's not many locations I can go to wearing him...ah well, them's the breaks.
Friday Question
Which new movies are you looking forward to seeing in 2008?
Well, to be honest I don't really go to the theatre very much, I mean it's so expensive now a days... I guess I wouldn't mind seeing The Jane Austen Book Club. That looks interesting....that's all I can think of right now.
Friday5
School Supplies
1. When did you last use graphing paper?
Uh...let's see...8 years ago when I was in Year 11 Maths...Oh damn, I feel really old!
2. When did you last use a highlighter?
Yesterday at work. :O)
3. When did you last cover a book?
When I was trying to pass a 'test' during a library job interview...suffice to say I sucked ass at it. My mother used to cover my school books.
4. When did you last wear an apron or smock?
Err...about this time last year when I was at my parents house having spagetti.
5. When did you last use glue?
The week before last when I tried to fix the diary at work, I accidentally pulled the book mark out of it. It didn't work.
The (Other) Friday Five
1. Do you consider yourself to be a good housekeeper? Why or why not?
RTFLMAO! Oh man, Hell no! If all the times I've talked about how messy my place is didn't clue you in.
2. Are there any household chores that you enjoy doing? If so, what and why?
Well, I don't hate doing the laundry, which reminds me I've got to get my stuff out of the washing machine.
3. Which household chore frustrates/angers you the most?
Tidying up in general! I just have too much stuff and not enough room! I need to throw stuff out, but I don't wanna. :O(
4. When doing household chores, what do you do to make them seem less of a "chore"?
I er...don't do 'em 'til I really need to, I don't recommend this.
5. Which chore do you find yourself doing most often, and why?
The washing up 'cause you've got to have clean stuff to eat off and alas I have no dishwasher to make life easier.
Ouch, my nose and top lip are all dried from the copious sniffing and nose blowing I've been doing, what a pain in the butt!
Well, I suppose I should see if I can actually make a dent in the cleaning I have to do here, so I'll be off for now.
Ta ta!
