Note to Self: Get a New Barbeque....
Nov. 19th, 2006 11:59 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
11:12pm: I think there's something wrong with my barbeque, my stomach was all right this morning, but after I ate the last sausage it got all iritated again...I suppose it could just be the sausages themselves, but that barbeque is beginning to freak me out. You can't clean 'em!
Anywho, when I woke up this morning I discovered I'd been suffering from serious night sweats...and thought maybe I've got a virus, but I don't know (knock on wood), it doesn't seem much like a virus...
The Zudoko Word Counter isn't working again, and I can't find the other one I used, so er...here's the Word Count:
36,998/50,000
73.98% (Yay I remembered how to do precentages on my calculator!)
Alas I'm now coming 10th, but 10 is my other favouirte number, so that's cool.
In other news, my legs hurt.
FOUR FOR FRIDAY
Q1 - Thanksgiving: Eleven percent (11%) of Americans admit to unbuttoning their pants before, during, or after their Thanksgiving day meal. How about you...do you keep it buttoned up or do you enjoy a little extra room when eating a hearty meal?
Well, I generally wear a loose dress on Christmas or Easter so I don't have to worry about such things, otherwise I may have to unbutton the pants surreptiously otherwise I get a really bad stomachache, damn constraining shit!
Q2 - Education: How well do you think math and science is being taught in American schools?
Not being American I have no idea...although to be honest with you, from what I've seen none of the subjects seem to be taught very well. I'm prbably going to sound like a total snob saying this, but whenever I read stuff American kids have written on the whole it's like "Dude, where's your puncuation?" Of course, watch me fuck up the rest of this entry with incorrect spelling and grammar.
Q3 - Politics: If you could choose the major candidates for the 2008 U.S. presidential race, who would you designate to run, and who you like to see win out?
This is very USA-centric! Not bein an American or understanding their political system too well I can't really say anything (yeah, I bag out Bush, but man the guy seems to be doing a bad job...). Although wouldn't Conan O'Brien make a funny president...hey he all ready looks like the Prime Minister of Finland! ;O)
Q4 - You're in Charge: If you could run any corporation, college or university, or organization in the world for one month, which one would you choose and what sorts of changes do you think you'd make?
Ooh, ooh! I'd totally take on the World Bank...and probably destroy the world economy when I wipe out 3rd World Debt (even though I have no idea why...it's not like those countries will ever be able to pay that stuff back...). But at least Bono would thank me :OP
Friday Fiver
Wait While I Twist Your Fate
1. What is your nearest lake or river?
I would guess, Darling Harbour...but there might be a river around here somewhere near the train tracks.
2. Do you believe in heaven?
I certainly do! Ooh, the people I'll meet up there! John Paul II, George III, Prince Albert!
3. What's your lucky number?
Well technically it's 3 or 5 or something, but I perfer even numbers so I say 8 or 10!
4. Ever know anyone who appeared on a game show?
Yes! Two people from my school, one of whom was a close friend. The first one a girl named Megan was on Burgo's Catch Phrase, the other my old friend Olivia was on Temptation itself, but she could only buzz in once, got the answer right though.
5. Charades: good times or lame?
Never actually played, so I can't say.

Friday's Feast
(It's back, yay!)
Appetizer
Do you believe there is intelligent life on other planets?
Hmmm...that's hard...it seems pretty unbelievable that in the whole huge universe (which is growing!) we are the only intelligent life forms, but I kind of can't imagine them exactly...They're probably out there somewhere...
Soup
What is one thing you said you'd never do, but you eventually did?
Jump off that cliff...
Salad
Who is the teacher that influenced you the most in school?
Ooh, that's hard...probably Ms. Jones, the first teacher who I showed my writing too and who encouraged me. She also loved Garfield as I did at the time.
Main Course
If you could trade places with anyone for one day, who would it be and why?
Gee, I dunno...someone who lives in New York probably, LOL!
Dessert
What is your favorite dish to prepare?
Lasagne! Oh yeah...mmmm...
Friday5
Wind
1. Do you have a hurricane or tornado story?
Nope, except for that one time there were some mini-whirly winds...but all I got from that was sore legs from leaves and stuff hitting my legs.
2. When was the last time you flew a kite?
I don't think I ever have! I feel unforfilled now!
3. Not counting in the midst of a storm, where’s the windiest place you’ve been?
Gee...On top of the Effiel Tower or something probably, since it's rather high.
4. Where did you last see a real windmill?
Driving through the country like 5 or 6 years ago, there was a lack of wind though, so it wasn't turning.
5. From which direction is the wind coming right now?
There appears to be no wind at the moment.
T.G.I.F
Get Lost!
1. What one thing have you lost that you'd most like to have back?
Now you'd think I know this...I've lost so many things...Ummm...my friendship with my first best friend I guess. I always wanted to have a life-long friend.
2. What is the one thing you have that you wish you could get rid of?
My anxiety, that's a pain in the ass.
3. What is the one thing you have that you pray you'd never lose?
My stories, man, I better back those suckers up, because if I did...yikes.
4. What is the biggest financial loss that you've ever experienced?
Well...I had to pay $500 to register my car, but that doesn't count. Once I lost $50! It fell out of my wallet while I was getting out $2 for a donation, the pain!
5. When have you most felt like losing it?
When I was at work a few months ago with all those fucking receipts, God those damn things!
The (Other) Friday Five
Oh Internet, how we crave thee... (Eek! I saw an show on this, and I think I might have it!)
1. How much time do you spend on the Internet daily?
Waaay too much, I've been on since I got up this morning at 9pm, except for my shower...Geeze...
2. What are your favorite 3 websites?
http://www.livejournal.com (suck up!)
http://www.wikipedia.org
http://www.google.com
3. Do you eat at your computer?
All the damn time, I'm eating right now.
4. Pick one and why - Reading the news online or in a newspaper?
I perfer to read it from the paper actually, although I can't afford to buy them so I look it up on the net instead.
5. How many people are on your instant messenger buddy list?
It says 22.
Sat-8
::Morbidity::
1. My friend's dad refused to let him create a formal funeral for him. Some people need to grieve with a such a ceremony. Do you need a formal "goodbye" to properly grieve?
Thankfully I don't personally know many people who have died (knock on wood!), but I feel a funeral is important to say goodbye. George III didn't get to go to his father's funeral, that must have sucked!
2. We're getting together with a huge BBQ and lots of alcohol, which was his request, in a few weeks to memorialise him. Would you prefer this to a formal ceremony?
Well, that's not so bad...I suppose a memorial service is OK, I was imagining more a person who didn't even want that!
3. I plan on having a mausoleum to be buried in, full of fat little marble cherubs and a nice place for my kids to come and sit & talk to me after I go. What's your final resting place going to look like?
I've always wanted one of those tombstones with my picture on it, of course it would be a picture of me that is glamourous (the third one in my default icon), so I can always be remembered at my best. :OP In all seriousness though what with the amount of people in the world, I should probably be cremated and scattered somewhere.
Oooh I could be spilt up and scatter amongst the places of my obsessions...if I was rich!
4. My friend is out of touch with everyone, which is understandable. However, he's not even ringing up his live-in girlfriend to keep her apprised of his plans. His mother, on the other hand, is on the phone nonstop talking to everyone. When you grieve, do you shut yourself away from friends/family, or do you need them there with you to help ease the pain?
As I said I don't know many people who have died, and of those most of them were sick for a long time or old, so it was kind of...naturally for them to die, so there wasn't really any long term grief. I cried when I heard and at the funeral, but...
5. The first pet I lost was a marmalade tom named Herman. Herman got eaten by an alligator (no, i'm serious). I remember being 5 yrs. old and my parents telling me that Herman was seen getting gobbled up by an alligator. Who was the first pet you lost as a child?
Well, apart from the gold fish, Frankie, my beloved canary! I was in England when he died and never said a real goodbye, he was buried in the backyard of my old house. When I heard I cried all night.
6. When I was about 9 years old, my friend and her brothers were killed in a drunk-driving accident. It was the first funeral I'd ever gone to. Do you remember your first funeral?
I think it was my Great Aunt Nancy's...I didn't know her all that well, so I wasn't incconslable or anything. I remember that she was cremated though, which freaked me out a bit. Also her coffin was on display...
7. For centuries, people have been buried in mass graves due to disease, convenience, or war crimes, etc. do you feel mass graves are OK because we're simply a mass of cells which can be broken down, or do you feel that every single person who dies deserves a solitary resting place with a marker, etc.?
I kind of like the thought of some sort of marker, but they do have those walls where they put lots and lots of people's ashes in little compartments to save room, also War Memorials and stuff. I think everyone should have there name somewhere, but whether it's on a personal tombstone or a mass one, I don't really mind.
8. OT question - I have a work semi-formal ceremony to go to tonight. Are you the type that likes to go to company-sponsored lavish events where everyone dresses up to hit the open bar with free gourmet food, OR would you prefer something that's quiet and more reserved, like a "thank-you" lunch?
I dunno, I'm not much of a resturant type person, a work Christmas Party is coming up and I'm hoping I won't be too nervous because that really makes things shitty.
Yikes! It's almost midnight, and I meant to go to bed AGES ago! I'm going to turn in right now, I'll finish the rest of the Memes tomorrow.
Good night all!
