Ooookay, That Was Disturbing...
Sep. 23rd, 2005 06:09 pmWell, I've just returned from the x-ray place where I went today because my knee is still being a mo-fo, I wasn't sure where the place was so I looked it up on the net just before leaving. However, due to my fabled lack of map skills I totally missed the place by about three blocks and had to get off the bus and walk all the way back, or hobble rather.
Anyway I finally get to the place 15 minutes before 4 (they don't take anyone after that time it would seem) and pretty soon was in a change room putting on a gown (I was wearing jeans), and then going into the X-Ray Room.
Knee x-ray's a very weird, apparently they're supposed to be taken standing up! WTF? You'd think if you had a fracture or something you wouldn't want to put weight on it. I had to stand on this little box thing too, and I almost fell of it too! But that wasn't the worst of it...for some reason I suddenly began to feel really freaked out, and then really dizzy and hot...
Next thing I know I'm whimpering and thiiiiis close to fainting! The X-Ray man helped me over to a chair where I promptly collasped, started sweating like a pig and got the shakes.
The X-Ray man rushed out to get a doctor for me while I was thrasing around sort of and wanting my mother badly! The Doc came back and decided I should lie down (I was actually considering lying on the floor), and another man came along and they all lead me over to the bed thing where I lay down and got my feet put up and a glass of water.
After about 10 minutes they did the other x-rays with my lying down, but alas, it was nearly 4.30pm by then which means there wasn't enough time to process the x-rays before 5pm. So now I have to go there tomorrow to get 'em, and it also means I've got to put up with another 12 hours of not knowing what the frick is wrong with my knee! }:O(
But seriously, what the Hell was that?! The Doc seemed to think it was Vaso-Vagal Syncope, which I've just looked up. He thinks anxiety might have caused it.
But geeze, what a place to have a panic attack, getting a friggin' X-Ray! A blood test, maybe, but an X-Ray?! I'm actually slightly suspicious that having to put weight on my poor knee after hurrying to get the place may be behind it, since pain can be a trigger too.
Also considering I didn't have a proper breakfast or lunch today either it might have been that too.
But yes, I'm most uncomfortable now...I had some Maccas (I know, I'm lame) and did the papers...so at least I did what I had too.
Anyway, turning to people who have it worse than I, I just herd that Hurricane Rita has changed course and it looks like it's heading to the very highways people are trying to get away. Dude, how PISSED would you be? And they're stuck in 160 mile traffic jam! :Oo Frankly I'd give up, get some water and start walkin'.
Although apparently it's being downgraded to a Category 4, so maybe it'll weaken some more, here's hoping!
Finally, I'm confused re: Calls for Adding Ethanol to Petrol...this is really confusing because just a few months ago people were bitching about how bad it was and how it ruined cars and fuels and whatnot. Make up your minds people.
Well...yeah, now I'm off.
