La Course!

10:09pm: Yes! It's the second year it's been held - the women's race which is part of Le Tour De France, I've always wondered why there's no Grand Tours for women. Actually...I think are some, but you never hear about them, shame. This isn't actually a Grand Tour it's a day race, but it will certainly bring attention to women's cycling since all the people who come to see the final stage of the men's tour will see it too.

Except no Phil Liggett commentating, I'm shocked, shocked! I guess I won't be hearing him tonight, because the Men's Stage doesn't even begin until midnight and I need to be in bed before that.

In non-cycling news, I made some very good purchases yesterday, I got to church early so I left my car and went to the St Vinnie's at Neutral Bay where I didn't find anything, but just for the Hell of it I decided to take a long in the discount clothing shop where I once bought my grey and brown bobble scarf, I haven't seen those scarfs on anywhere but Ebay in forever it seems, however! Yesterday they were back! So I got a new black one - my current black one is over five years old now and is looking a little worse for wear - and a grey one to replace the one I lost on the bus last year. Whoot! Although I have to be careful because I almost lost a grey bobble! It came off after church, I think it got caught in my Missal, but I managed to find it, phew! I've got proper glue now so I was able to fix it when I got home, although I had to take it out again this evening and now I've lost the lid, do'h! I hope it doesn't dry out. Because what a waste, if so!

Today was a general relaxed day, I finally returned most of the stuff I borrowed from Dee Why Library and paid most of my fine (It was $7.50), then it was off to the gym! :O) I must say the pool was looking particularly nice today when I got there. The sun was setting and the light was pouring in. Very sparkly underwater.

Hmm, lot of crashes in La Course, it's raining over in Paris and the road is all wet and slippery...and also cobblestoned at some points, a recipe for disaster! However, I think an Aussie is leading the field at the moment, go, Aussie, go!

The (Other) Friday Five

24/7/15

1. Are you a happy person? I think I am generally!

2. What is happiness for you? Um, I guess...a feeling of contentment and enjoyment and such.

3. What do you think is the color for happiness? Well, I love green so I feel happy when I see that colour, but as a general rule I think it'd be yellow for most people.

4. Do you think that happiness lies within you? Or does it depend upon other people and external things? A mixture of both, but a lot of it does depend on your own point of view and how you view the world, after all a lot of people can be happy in circumstances I couldn't imagine being in! However, having good people around you also helps with happiness.

5. Can money buy happiness? Yeah, because it can take the pressure off - ie. bills that need to paid, mortgages stuff like that. Of course, money just by itself won't make you happy, but most people have plans that money can help come true.

Saturday 9

:All the Way (1957):

1) In this song, Frank sings, "who knows where the road will lead us?" Which leads Sam to ask, does your vehicle have GPS? Nope, but my mobile phone has Google Maps which comes with directions, quite useful. I should get one of those mobile phone holder's to hold my phone though...it just sits on the seat at present and sometimes it falls off and then the sound gets muffled!

2) Sinatra introduced "All the Way" in the movie, The Joker Is Wild. During that film he also sang "Chicago (That Toddlin' Town)." A few years later, in the movie Robin and The Seven Hoods, he declared Chicago as his "kind of town." Besides Chicago, can you think of another city Frank immortalized in song? Did he sing New York, New York? If so, that one clearly, if not...I got no idea.

3) When Frank was 19, he saw a pretty girl sitting on her front porch, giving herself a manicure. He went and got his ukelele and serenaded her. That girl became his first wife, Nancy. Tell us how one of your romances began. N/A.

4) Both Frank and Nancy grew up in New Jersey. When you think of NJ, what else comes to mind? Joisy because that's how the say it there, LOL.

5) Sinatra made Las Vegas as famous for entertainment as for gambling. He was so identified with the Strip, that when he played Caesar's Palace the marquee simply said, "He's Here." Have you ever been to Vegas? Nope, doesn't sound like my bag at all...although is The Simpson house still there, because I wouldn't mind visiting that.

6) Thin for most of his life, Frank was blessed with a metabolism that allowed him to whatever he wanted without gaining weight. He especially enjoyed clams posillipo. What's your favorite Italian dish? LASAGNA! YUM!

7) Perhaps because of his hardscrabble childhood, Sinatra was a soft touch for charities devoted to kids. One of his favorites was Variety, which sends disadvantaged children on day trips to museums, zoos and sporting events. Here's your chance to tell us about a cause that's near and dear to your heart. Well, I donate to Amnesty International, it does so much good work around the world. Although, I really wanted to donate to a charity that helps provide clean water for those who are without it. Waterborne illness being the number one killer in the world, however there wasn't one at the time, or at least I didn't know about it. I should look into that.

8) Sinatra was a neat freak who couldn't stand dust or clutter and showered at least twice a day. He got this from his mother Dolly, who was compulsive about housecleaning and hygiene. Can you think of a time when you caught yourself doing something and thought, "I'm just like Mom/Dad!" Well...I do have a big bruise on the back of my thigh, Mum often gets bruises like that, whereas I used to not bruise that easily. I'm becoming my mother, eek! :OP

9) In 1998, Sinatra was buried with the things he always had in tow: a bottle of Jack Daniels, a pack of Camels, a Zippo lighter and 10 dimes. Why the dimes? According to his daughter, "He never wanted to be caught not able to make a call." Of course, 17 years later cell phones have replaced pay phones. Anyway, tell us what you always carry. My keys (hopefully!), my fit watch, my wallet, medication, the mini-hot water bottle, a little notebook, pencils and pens, lip balm and my Music Dot. Oh and mobile phone of course!
