My Knee Hurts...
10:32pm: And I'm here at the parentals without my knee brace thing, man what a pain in the ass...or the knee as the case may be.
Today I was majorly embarrassed when I showed up over 45 mins early to my pyschiatrist appointment, thinking that I was actualy 15 minutes late! Geeze man, I totally can't count! Oh well, it is better to get to a place early than late, although it would be pretty bad to show up that early to an interview. You'd look pretty stupid.
So, I got to show the recordings of my voice (still too high and boyish for my taste), but he seems to think it's OK. I practiced making voice lower, on my George III story no less! But the psychiatrist thought it was rather good, which is rather uplifting for my self-esteem! Although who would actually buy the thing beats me.
Anyway, now I have to practice loosening my jaw a little because I seems I talk through my teeth sometimes, which can't be good.
Speaking of my GIII story I've been looking all over the place for a piece of information, I was almost ready to give up on finding out to be honest, when I finally got a brain wave while looking at Amazon.com and found the info! Go me!
FOUR FOR FRIDAY
Q1 - Wealth: In 1982, the year Forbes started publishing its annual list of the 400 wealthiest Americas, the magazine could find only a dozen or so billionaires. This year, The Forbes 400 list includes billionaires only. What is your definition of wealthy?
Well, I heard on the news today that a number of Wall Street brokers have got Christmas bonuses to the worth of 24 billion dollars! Holy crap! One or two of them even got bonuses of $100 million dollars! I mean geeze I think anyone with about 1 million bucks is wealthy. That amount of money is almost obscene, I sure hope they'll give some to the poor, I mean there's only so much a person can buy isn't there.
Q2 - Advertising and Religion: Bahrainian athlete Ruqaya Al Ghasara runs her track & field races wearing a hijab (a full Muslim headscarf). Nike, which sponsors Al Ghasara and is notorious for splashing its logo on everything in sight, somehow managed to get the Nike swoosh emblazoned onto the sides of Al Ghasara hijab. In your opinion, should Nike have stopped short of swooshifying a religious garment, or is Al Ghasara hijab fair game for branding?
Oh my God, what the fuck? I mean, I suppose if she agreed to it...Still it is pretty tastless, like going into the church and finding an advertisement over the head of Jesus hanging on the cross. Or a Snickers bar in hand (as I saw on a photoshopped image, but photoshopped images are rather amusing.) I mean geeze, she wears tracksuit pants I'm sure, couldn't they have stuck their swoosh on that? Some people are gonna be really offended.
Q3 - Asking for Advice: According to a recent survey, most employees are unwilling to turn to their boss for advice on problems at work. In fact, a supervisor was cited by only 11 percent of employees surveyed as a source for workplace advice. More employees rely on a peer, another senior person, or a friend outside the company when searching for advice on work-related issues. How about you? When you are experiencing problems at work, who do you turn to for help or advice?
Hmmm, I heard it's bad form to go to your boss with compliants, you're supposed to talk to the person involvedd first. But then that could be your boss in certain circumstances. But I say it's probably easier to bring this stuff to a less senior type. I for one would probably ask my mother first (LOL I'm such a Mama's girl).
Q4 - Sleep: While everyone pretty much knows that sleep is vital to our health and well being, millions of us are not getting enough of it, or are suffering from sleep-related problems. For example, surveys conducted by the National Sleep Foundation reveal that 60 percent of adults report having sleep problems a few nights a week or more. In addition, more than 40 percent of adults experience daytime sleepiness severe enough to interfere with their daily activities at least a few days each month. What time did you go to bed last night, and do you think you got enough sleep?
Usually a bit before midnight, which if I had an actual job would not give me enough sleep, so I've been trying to go to bed earlier. I'm not too sure how much sleep I need though, sometimes 8 hours seems enough, sometimes not, and sometimes I oversleep at that's almost as bad! Of course, considering my crappy diet as of late my tiredness could have to do with a lack of iron or something.
