11:33pm: Yes! Huzzah! It finally came! I now have a credit card again! Thank the Lord!

The only downside is it didn't show up in the brief period I was home between my library shift this morning and my library volunteering this afternoon, and then I didn't get it until I got home and I'd already been to Warriewood and it was rainy. So...I haven't got Mrs S's $100, which means I really should pop by the ATM tomorrow morning to get it on my way to her place. So, I should get my ass to bed.

Also, my right thumb remains sore when I bend it and every so often that weird buzzing sensation reappears in my fourth finger. I did consider making a doctor's appointment, but by the time I'd finished volunteering I felt like it was a bit late. Plus I bought some Voltaren anti-inflammatory gel and I wanted to see if it did anything before going to the trouble of all that. Although, thinking on it, perhaps I could take the opportunity to get my flu shot so even if the doc can't offer a diagnosis on the thumb it won't be a big old waste of time.

Although I was quite concerned when Mum suggested the other day that my sore thumb could be arthritis! I mean Dad has arthritis in his thumbs, but c'mon I'm not old! Then again, I have no idea when Dad's thumb arthritis started, maybe he was my age. Shiiit.

Oh and I also paid the speeding fine this afternoon and cancelled my Red Cross monthly donation, but what are you gonna do?

OK, and now I better hit the sack! Wish me luck with my thumb and work and all that jazz.

Goodnight all!

11:03pm: Regarding playing Russian Roulette with the parking lot across from the Library. It's got a one hour limit, but I have at various times - usually the weekend parked there for my shift - which is four hours.

And today I finally got a ticket, fuuuck. It was even more my own fault than usual because I only parked there because I was running late and thus didn't have time to park in the normal place where there's no time limit.

Although, the cost of a parking ticket seems to have gone down since the last time I got one years and years ago, back then it was 80 bucks! This one was $66 but with the 25% discount for paying it right away it went down to $49.50. Still that's like two hours of work. Shit.

Anyway! Now I don't have a cruise to recount any more I'm not sure what else to say! Except did I ever mention that I found my anti-chafing stick thing? Turned out it didn't fall out of my bag in the parking lot near the psychiatrist's office, instead it fell out here in my bedroom! So when I was unpacking two weeks ago, I found it! Hooray!

So, I need to get to bed but I'm caught up in I Shouldn't Be Alive, I really want to know how the guy gets himself out of this, he's trapped under a quad bike and coyotes are coming for him. O.o Luckily, he seems able to scare them away, but he's been out there for like 3 days.

Quad bikes suck.

But not much else to report, I did do some cleaning and ironing today so the place should be ready for Mum's inspection tomorrow afternoon. :OP Meanwhile, I'm still waiting to hear if I'm going to get together with some friends tomorrow evening. I hope so because one of them is going back overseas on Thursday, this will be my last chance to see her for a long time.

And now on that note I must go!

Goodnight all.

10:22pm: Yes, I finally realised how to rotate a video on my phone...with the edit button! Duh! No idea how I missed that, a bit embarrassing to be honest. I've been wanting to put this video on my Cruise Album on Google Pics, I think I mentioned it before? I couldn't find that edit option on my phone before, so I uploaded it because when I searched how to rotate videos it told me you could do it on Google+, but when I did that I couldn't find any way to do it. But! Turned out the option was on the phone the whole time...so we'll get to the later.

But I should update about some current events since I've been slacking on that too. I'm rather excited to say that I've caught up on the Back to the Future comic books! I ordered issues 14 to 17 from Kings Comics on Friday and they arrived today, which was a good idea if I do say so myself because that way I only had to pay for one lot of postage. Of course, it does mean if I'm going to do that I'll even more behind than usual (Australia's all ready behind with comic books). The "Who is Marty McFly" arc was a good read although I got confused at some points, like I was missing something, LOL. I figured it out in the end though so perhaps I didn't miss anything after all. :OP

Aside from that, not a lot of excitement in the life of Moose - although today I started the process to join the new provider Mrs S is going through, which is good news, because she's leaving her old one at the end of this week and if I'm not signed up I can't get paid...or you know actually work. The only pain in the butt was the fact I left the paperwork I need (first aid certificate, police check etc) at home so I had to go from Mrs S's (which is just across the road from the providers) to pick them up so I ended up a bit late for said interview. But it all went pretty well in the end, so things should be good to go next Monday.

And finally, today is Ash Wednesday, I wasn't able to go to any of the morning masses, so I had to go to the evening one, unfortunately I misread the start time so I was at the church a whole half an hour early. Whoops.

Oh and today marked the first day of helping Mum with the Catholic Scripture class, which went pretty well considering how had to haul a heavy-ass box of books to the classroom.

And now...back to the Cruise! )

Phew! This turned out to be a super-long entry and I better not stay up too late tonight, so I shall say goodnight!

11:22pm: In more ways than one, for example I'm already starting this update way too late to write as much as I want about the cruise! I have however began compiling a photo album on GooglePhotos, you can view it here! There's still quite a few photos missing though, I'm not sure why some of them haven't been saved into the Cloud - especially considering the app used up all my mobile data! Seriously! I'm most irritated about that. I thought I told the app not to upload unless I was using wi-fi. So now I have to pay extra this month, how annoying!

Anyway! Today it was back to work with Mrs S, I had a great time telling her about the cruise and showing her the photos I took. Also, the new working arrangements seem to have been sorted out now, although I do need to go for an interview with the new people, I called and left a message telling them to get back to me on that, but they didn't. I guess I'll have to give it a go tomorrow.

Right, I've let myself get distracted as usual and now I'm seriously short on time, I hope you weren't waiting with baited breath for the next installment of my cruising adventure. But hey a good writer builds suspense...or something, LOL.

After finishing with Mrs S I went to Mona Vale to get a new rainbow beach bag - and not a moment too soon, I bought the last one in the shop! I also went hunting for a swimsuit, but I've totally left it too late in the season...having said that I'm not sure any of the shops there even have swimsuits in the peak of summer. Makes me miss that swimwear shop in Dee Why, that was a good place.

Then I went shopping to get more food after the fridge disaster, although I did forget a few things, do'h! Have to fix that tomorrow. And I think I'll have to clear out the freezer too...the defrosted fish doesn't bode well.

Anywho, I better be off! Don't worry I promise I'll write more about the cruise tomorrow, in the meantime though check out the photo album, I'm quite proud of it. :O)

Heataggedon

Feb. 5th, 2017 11:19 pm
anonymoose_au: (Oh Save Me Jeebus)
10:45pm: It was hot today, like 38 degrees C hot and unfortunately the library air-con could not keep up the pace and while it was cooler than that, it was still enough to make me sweat like Rafael Nadal on a an tennis court (OK, I'm probably exaggerating there, but there was definitely forehead wiping).

However, I did discover this morning while talking to Mum on the phone the problem with my air-con...I might have mentioned before that I had to buy a second hose to connect to the first one so it could reach the window, which means that the two hoses can separate. And somehow I managed not to notice that this had happened, so yesterday and last night the damn thing was pumping hot air into the room as fast as cold air was coming out! No wonder it wasn't doing shit! Once I reconnected the hoses the room actually cooled down! So perhaps all is not lost.

In other news, I seem to have lost the anti-chafing body glide stuff, which sucks, firstly because I've ended up chafed and sore and secondly, it cost me 20 bucks! I looked around my room a bit this morning, but I couldn't see it. I checked the car too, but no luck :O( I have a terrible feeling it might have ended up in the parking lot near the psychiatrist's office because I dropped my bag and all the stuff fell out. I thought I picked everything up, but...

I'm half tempted to go back to look for it, but it will have been three days and I'm pretty sure it won't be there anymore. :O( I bought some petroleum jelly from Coles this evening after work since the net indicated it might be useful, I sure hope so. But I'm not sure what to put on the area now that it's all ready chafed, I'm having to do the cowboy walk and it's not fun.

Anyway, after it being so hot I'm quite sleepy! I got 8.5 hours in bed last night, bu I'm sure if I looked more carefully I probably didn't get as much deep sleep as I should have.

I feel I should do at least one Meme...

11:48pm: Although it's not actually him, but dopplegangers are indeed an interesting phenomenon. I'll never forget my uncle telling me he thought he saw a picture of me in an add on the side of a bus! Clearly it wasn't me, so there must be someone out there who looks a bit like me. Spooky.

In other news, I had to make an unexpected dash to Mrs S's place this evening to help her out so I've actually run out of time to update this thing! But suffice to say it was a very exciting Canasta match with M today, we didn't actually compete the game because by our family rules to win you not only have to get to 5,000 points you have to go out on a winning hand, and neither of us went out on our last hand! However, we've both got to 5,000 points so whoever gets two Canastas and goes out next time will be the victor! Exciting stuff indeed. ;O)

Of course I'm not sure when I'll next be over as the cruise is coming up so most of next week will be getting ready for that, I sure hope I get a reply about whether I can bring my skates or not. Otherwise I'm not sure if I'll risk it or not, I don't want to have to pay for them to be stored at the terminal while I'm away!

Right, gotta dash, can't dilly-dally tomorrow because the pyschiatrist's office called me up this afternoon asking me if I could come in half an hour earlier at 11:30 rather than 12, so no time for sheninigans at Mrs S's place tomorrow.

And there's also the job situation to think about...but that'll have to wait for tomorrow, for now...goodnight!

Weird Stuff

anonymoose_au: (I Don't Know...)
11:15pm: And hopefully being cancelled!

Yes! This morning after doing a practice run to Mrs S's place from the apartment - and arriving with 10 minutes to spare (although it's still school holidays at the moment), I went to Mum and Dad's to discover Mum hadn't got the plastic tubs, because she'd been looking for crates - however, crates hurt like hell to carry once they're full - digging into the side of your fingers and all that. So I had to get the key to M and Grandpa's garage where I found the tubs in question and then it was off to the gym. As I was coming to the end of my work-out I got a call from the little bro saying that the Canadian girl had got back to him, letting him know she had found someone to take over her lease and that she was still interested in the apartment! Holy crap!

Of course, I'm sure you're all thinking "But Moose you gave in the Notice to Vacate yesterday! You're probably going to need to leave your granny flat anyway". That's what I worried about too, but I quickly called the agent who said they hadn't made a start on it yet! However, until I found out from Mum that everything was clear I couldn't outright cancel the notice so I told them I'd call back in the afternoon to let them know for sure.

By coincidence Dad called me up after that, to let me know about the crates in their storage shed, so I told him the news. He decided to stay out of it for now, LOL.

After the gym I headed back home, had some lunch, and a shower before heading off to my shift at the library. I spoke to Mum at home, but she said she needed to speak to the little bro in more depth before anything could be decided.

Just before going down to the library for my shift (I arrived in the area a bit early so did some shopping, there was bargains at Bed Bath and Table, I got some Christmas decos for the end of the year and a new swim/gym bag - it's rainbow!) I got a call from Mum, who said things looked promising with the Canadian, but it wasn't 100% so I would need to ask the agent if I could put the Notice on hold rather than outright cancelling it. She though it best to send an email, but I didn't actually have the agent who oversees my property's email address so I sent it to the original agent with a plan to call during my break to confirm she got it.

As it turned out the original agent wasn't in today so I ended up having to tell them over the phone after all! :OP But! If we're going to keep the same vacate date I'll have to give them a definitive answer tomorrow afternoon. Mum and I had hoped to be able to do it on Thursday, but then I remembered that's the Australia Day Public Holiday, so no dice.

But, I've SMSed the Little Bro since then and he seems pretty positive, so fingers and toes crossed all! Meanwhile, I'll take this opportunity to do some weeding of my posessions and what not. I do have quite a bit of crap that could probably go.

The only downside, I have to go back and get most of my hanging clothes back, as well as my spare TV and cube of fabric. Ah well, I gotta go to Mall at some point anyway so that's not so bad.

Anywho! I better wrap this up, since I do need to get to bed, however I will say this - Apple is a pain in the ass! A lady came into the library around 4pm trying to get advice on how to use some of the apps for e and audio books, but by 5pm she and the librarian on duty were having no luck getting onto the Apple App store because for some reason the lady's tablet was trying to sign up with her old email address. Eventually I came out to see if I could do anything, which thinking about it is kind of weird because I don't even use Apple!

Anyway, eventually I managed to figure it out and the lady was able to get one of the apps, hopefully she'll be able to get the other one's too, but who knows! But hey this will look good on my next review, fingers crossed. :OP

Right, off I go! Goodnight all!

PS: I almost forgot! The Fed-Ex triumphed tonight in his quarter final! Aaah he's such a boss! It's gonna be an all Swiss Semi-Final though, so fingers and toes crossed...

IT Troubleshooting

anonymoose_au: (Plushy Goes Eeeee!)
11:21pm: Yep, I decided to just do it and purchase that boxset of Air Crash Investigation, because...just look how awesome it is! It looks like a real Black Box! :OD

It has 36 DVDs in it, in 14 cases (covering the 14 seasons of the show), of course as I might have mentioned yesterday the show is actually still going, so I'm not sure what I'll do when those seasons come out. I suppose if I wait long enough perhaps they'll need to make another box set (although it's a bit unfortunate to think there'd be that many plane crashes to do episodes about!)

So I've been watching the first season at the moment, which I realised with some shock is over 13 years old now! Holy shit, time has gone way too fast. o.O

Moving on to less pleasant news when I woke up this morning and looked in the fish tank it looked as if Plushenko the fish had DIED! As you can imagine I was upset about this, even more so when I realised to my horror his tail fin which had been so luxurious had disappeared! Seriously! It's just...gone except for a little stump left! His fins have been decidedly ragged these past few days, but I didn't realise they were so bad!

Then as I got the fish net to get him out and give him a proper burial, Plushenko the fish suddenly started swimming around! He was alive! But surely he needed his tail to live?! Obviously I wanted to find out what to do for him but I had work, so that needed to come first.

I did have enough time to look up tail loss on my mobile, it seems it was fin rot, but then I wasn't sure? The little stump was rather smooth, which sounded more like it'd be sheared off, but how? I haven't put anything new in the tank, so...?

Anyway, I tried to put it out of my mind while working for Mrs S, but I did let her know about it although seeing as she's not an expert on fish she could advise me either. But I got my work done - despite the fact that every time I had to go out into the garage it was a nightmare because the air conditioner outlet is there and it heats up the space so badly. We actually put a thermometre in there at it got up to 40 degrees!

I also made lasagna for Mrs S and her husband, and I'm pleased to report unlike last time I didn't burn it, hooray! Mrs S sent me an SMS to let me know it was delicious, yay!

Once I finished working I headed for Warriewood Square and the pet shop there to see what could be done for Plushenko the fish. I'd also read that stress could cause problems in betta fish so I was going to get some stuff called Stress Coat, but I though I'd double check with one of the sales people (they seem to know their stuff) and the recommended something called Bettafix which should help with fin issues and of course I needed to change half the water in the tank which would hopefully clear up any nasty stuff in there, which I hurried home to do - although I was worried that Plushy the fish might have died in that time.

He was at the bottom of his tank, but when I turned off the filter he started swimming about again, so he was hanging on. The only problem was I still can't get that siphon thing to work so I had to use a jug to get water out, which stirred up some stuff at the bottom of the tank which worried me a little. It cleared up once I refilled it with freshly treated water after a while, so hopefully it's all OK.

Now, I was going to go to Harvey Norman to get the digital photo frame for Mrs S, but when we checked online they were all ready out of stock! So, I thought maybe I wouldn't go to the Mall...however, it was a hot day and I felt it'd be best if I headed out, especially since I could go to Pet Stock to have the water from the tank tested, although after I thought about it, I should have taken the water out of the tank before I changed half the water. But I did think it was possible I might not have put enough water treatment in there which is something I need to know!

The chap at Pet Stock tested the water and said it was OK, so that's a relief, although in the end I did buy some of that Stress Coat stuff to put in the tank - it's like the water treatment thing but with an extra ingredient that's supposed to help calm fish. Considering how jittering Plushy the fish has been today I felt he could use it!

Then it was finally off to the mall where I returned the set-top box to Target and ended up buying the Air Crash Investigation box-set before heading back home via Mum and Dad's to take advantage of their air conditioning there and show off my purchase to Dad.

I suppose I could have stayed over at Mum and Dad's, and I did kind of regret it when I got back here to the Granny Flat and found that despite closing my door and turning on the air-con it was still stifling in here! However, going over the air-con manual I discovered there's a 'boost' setting on there and since pressing that button the room has cooled. Phew! Although I'm not sure how good of an idea it is to keep it on for too long...although having checked the manual again it doesn't say that you can only use it for such a length of time. I sure hope this isn't killing the electricity bill...

I also got another delivery today! Not my phone, but issue 13 of the Back to the Future comic (which I forgot to get when it first came out from Kings Comics so needed to get through E-Bay), so that proved to be great read! Can't wait to see how this storyline pans out. :O)

And now, I must be off for it's almost midnight and I need to go to bed! Goodnight all!

11:19pm: In this case my first world problem is having to get up to stop and then start the recordings I've made on my DVD/HDD Recorder. I managed to forget how to pause it to take out adds so for the longest time I just kept them in there, but obviously I don't want them in when I'm recording them using my laptop's TV recorder. Hence the getting up all the time, it's super annoying.

Oh well, at least my foot feels better, because otherwise it would really suck having to do that.

Right now I'm recording a documentary on 9/11, which is a topic I tend to avoid because it's a distressing thing and it's so sad to think of all the poor people involved.

Moving on, it was a busy day today, what with Mrs S in the morning and the library in the afternoon, I do wonder if I've become to used to not working 7.5 hours a day because I was pretty bushed by the end of it all!

And I've got work tomorrow morning as well! :OP Which means I've once again managed to leave updating this journal entry way too late and thus have no time for Memes! Booo!

I do have some good news, while I was at Mrs S's this morning I discovered to my dismay my ice skate charm was no longer on my necklace chain! I'd taken my chain off to go swimming, but I had definitely had it when I put it back on afterwards. So I could imagine where it could have gone.

Then I remembered that last night I'd been in the bathroom when I heard the sound of something hitting the tiles, at first I thought it was my Up fitness tracker, but it must have been my charm! Sure enough when I got home and looked I discovered it on the floor. Phew!

Oddly enough I didn't see how it had fallen off...because the little loop part was closed...maybe it had been open and I stepped on it this morning. I'll have to keep a close eye on it.

Okedoke, now I gotta wrap this up and hit the hay!

11:03pm: Indeed so, it was the first day of normal operations back at the library so the books were coming in fast and furious, to say nothing of the ones that were in the overnight chute - apparently so many ended up in there a whole lot of them got crushed. Last I saw of them they were stacked underneath the returns desk in the hope they'd flatten themselves out again. I guess I'll find out how it worked out tomorrow afternoon.

I'm also relieved to report that my feet held up pretty well! Although the weather was a bit cooler today so I wore my pinstripe pants which meant that I could wear socks with my shoes and thus didn't have to worry about foot sweat. However, it's supposed to warm up a bit tomorrow soooo...

After finishing work I headed off to the Mall to get Mrs S's new towels and man was there a lot of them! They're the big fluffy kind so fortunately they weren't too heavy, but they were unweildy to carry and I had to wait for a while at the counter while the sales lady went looking for where they'd been set aside. It took so long actually that I began to worry they might not be there at all!

I also went looking at JB Hi-Fi about maybe getting a new Blu-Ray player, or maybe one of those aerial boxes that pick up TV through the net. But I decided not to purchase anything, since I still don't know if there's some other way to solve things with the TV and all.

I did end up buying the sunglasses that go over glasses from the Cancer Council so that was great! There weren't any green ones, but I got this cool purple leopard print ones. Niice. However, I discovered that the glasses case my Grandpa bought me is too small for them. Do'h!

Also, I forgot to bring the fifty bucks, better put that in my wallet or I might lose it in my room! :O/

Righto time to try and catch up on some Memes... )

Oh crap, look at the time, almost midnight and I have to get up earlier than usual tomorrow! That's some fail on my part.

Oh and I almost forgot I did get to go swimming today! Even though it wasn't with Mum, she forgot about me! So rude. :OP

So yeah I better hit the hay now! Goodnight all!

11:55pm: Indeed! With Mrs S and the two other carers, it was good times indeed! There was a special on for dinner $15 chicken pamjana with chips and salads, delicious! Although very large portions, I had no room for dessert, which I guess is a good thing since it would have cost me more and I do need to save.

Speaking of which, I was feeling guilty today because shortly after noon I got a call from Mona Vale Library asking if I wanted to come in for a shift this afternoon. However, I'd all ready promised to go in for my volunteering and it would have been too late to reschedule that (although having written t hat I probably could have moved it to tomorrow) plus if I did I would have had to hurry from work to the RSL Club for the Christmas Party and that sort of thing tends to set off my anxiety, which I totally didn't want.

So yes, suffice to say I said I couldn't and then I've felt guilty about it since, I did consider after about half an hour calling back saying I'd changed my mind, but no. What made me feel guilty more than anything was I've been praised before for my flexibilty and willingness to pick up extra shifts. On the other hand you can't just be a doormat for your work and I'm sure this won't impact on my job or anything.

So, rest easy mind!

Also I've managed to dillydallying on this entry so now I have to wrap it up and hit the hay! I've got work tomorrow and I really really need to go to the gym because I haven't gone this week and that's not cool. Especially seeing as it's a waste of my all ready tight finances if I don't actually go!

Oh and sadly I discovered this morning that like an idiot I'd left putting together my Christmas Hamper for the Church's Christmas Appeal! And now it was too late! But I was reassured to hear that the fellow I picked will still get a hamper as they got a surplus of donations. Thank goodness, how crap would I have felt otherwise! Although now I have a CD of 70 hits from the 70s. Hmmm, wonder if I should regift, return it or keep it for myself, LOL. Oh well, at least I got something for the K-Mart Wishing Tree, which I need to drop off tomorrow.

Right, now I really have to go! Goodnight all!

11:33pm: On my Blu-Ray DVD recorder! I'm transferring some of the programs I've recorded on it - Air Crash Investigation episodes and one recording is five hours long! WTF? Now unless there was a marathon of episodes that's like four hours of some other show I didn't want to record. Man, can't believe I didn't notice that, I've been missing the end of shows and so on for a few weeks now because I haven't been able to find room. Rude.

Moving along, Mrs S and I went to Mobility shop today, but alas, the chap there said he wouldn't be able to sell Mrs S's old manual wheelchair for very much money, so we need to put it up on Gumtree. I hope it works, it's hard to tell with Gumtree, I don't think my parents have sold their old coffee table yet.

After returning Mrs S's wheelchair to her house I headed back to my place to get down to cleaning! However, Mum never showed up! I was going to call, but I kept putting it off and now it's too late. I wonder what happened? Perhaps she got called into work, although it's odd she didn't call me or at least send me a text.

Oh well, at least I got the place cleaned up, some more needs to be done, but things are quite neat now. :O)

Anywho, I did at least do one other thing today, and that was arrange to get my new tyres, they're not Advanti ones, but they are sports tyres so hopefully they look nice. More importantly though they're the same size as the current ones, I'm not sure if it would make a huge difference but I imagine having a change in height would be quite strange.

So yes I need to get up sooner rather than later for that, so it's off to bed with me now.

Goodnight all!

9:26pm: Seriously...I went swimming today at the pool that's at the Retirement Village my parents live at and as soon as I did...bam! Blockage in my right ear. I've been having a few ear issues the last few days, but it didn't seem too bad...now though I've got that horrible fullness sensation in my right ear and it suuuucks.

I put some ear drops in there, but that can take days to work, but seriously I can't imagine putting up with this for any sustained period of time. Unfortunately for me I have work tomorrow so I won't be able to get it tended to first thing. Although last time I went the doctor I saw didn't want to syringe it for me, so even if I do go nothing might happen. Dang it.

Oh well, I suppose it won't have to put up with it too long tonight because I need to go to bed very soon as Mrs S needs me to come in an hour earlier than usual tomorrow because she has to get to an appointment by 11am at the bus takes about an hour and a bit to get there. Which means I need to go to bed an hour earlier. Which is soon now because I got distracted watching Lateline on ABC (the Aussie one, not the US one), they're talking about Down's Syndrome and what happens when the pre-natal tests is positive for it. They invited a gentleman with Down's Syndrome to the show, which is nice, although it's a bit awkward to then discuss the termination of Down's Syndrome babies right in front of him! Although he seems to be level-headed about it, good for him.

Aside from the ear issue, not much else to report, although I still haven't got around to playing Sims 3 yet, but I have a good excuse! I went to the library staff meeting this morning! It was interesting and once again I was advised that I shouldn't let my fear of 12 month contracts stop me from applying to jobs with more hours. I guess they have a point...also why were we discussing my career goals at an all-staff meeting anyway?

Although there's another performance review coming up before the end of the year, which...is going to be awkward after the time issues I've been having. I better make sure I'm not late again so I don't have to explain myself!

And finally, I'm a bit worried about my car...I went to Warriewood Square after going swimming with Mum this afternoon and as I was leaving the parking lot I managed to mount a kerb and it made quite a loud noise. When I got home to take a look a chunk was missing from the front left tyre! There was no air escaping as far as I could see, but it looked pretty dodgy. I hope it doesn't suddenly burst when I'm driving around or something... I also wonder if I need new tyres...man my savings aren't going to be so healthy if I have to fork out for that.

Anywho, I gotta do my Russian before I turn in so goodnight all!

11:36pm: The Super Moon that is! The best time to see it was last night, but in typical Aussie style the sky was quite cloudy especially on the horizon so the moon couldn't be seen until it was high up.

I was hoping to get at much better view tonight as the sky has cleared up nicely! According to the news moon-rise was at 8:18pm, but when I went outside to look I couldn't see anything! I went out a bit later, but still nothing. :O( I popped out just now and the moon was there, and quite bright! But it didn't really look any bigger than usual, because once again it was high up in the sky so there was nothing to compare it to.

I am disappoint! However, I have realised, a bit late of course, that there is a hill behind where I live and I'm pretty sure that's blocking the moon. On the other hand...maybe it's just not that big here in Aus? Like the angle might be off or something. Like when we get a lunar eclipse and it never really seems to be as spectacular as hoped. Rude!

Anywho, I didn't update yesterday because there was much discomfort yesterday and I was starting to get rather worried...and then just after midnight that time o' the month finally showed itself. Hmpf, I shouldn't say finally because it's not that late, but I could have done without the headaches. I wonder if I shoulbd investigate this...

Ooo, I just noticed Plushenko the fish was lying on the bottom of his tank, but he was just resting! Phew, I was worried there for a bit because Mum and Dad's goldfish Roger died the other day, which really sucked, because he'd been so healthy last I saw him.

This does remind me that I'm supposed to do the water change...with any luck I'll have time to do that tomorrow before I need to head to the school and then on to M and Grandpa's.

And I can't believe I almost forgot to mention that I went to work today! The Library called me in for a shift yesterday afternoon. However, I didn't make the best impression with it as I ended up being late! Most of it was my own fault, but I wasn't helped by a jerkass behind me who when I spotted a parking spot wouldn't let me back up and then had the nerve to steal it when I moved forward with the plan to turn around. What an asshole! I could have kicked his car when I walked past it from where I ended up parking, far, far FAR down the street, but I'd forgotten what his car looked like by then.

Anyway I was late enough that the librarian on duty actually pointed it out! She said she didn't mind, but it's not a good look.

Aside from that work went pretty well, except for when this old lady showed up and got quite agitated, as it turns out she's a known 'pest' and the Council refuses to deal with her so I shouldn't have given her the council's phone number. Having said that, you'd think she'd have it all ready?

After work I decided - what the Hell - I'd go ice skating and hope the traffic would be OK at 4pm when I'd be heading back (that's generally the start of peak hour) and not wait for the last hour of the session.

It was lots of fun! :OD And there were a lot of good ice skater there for their training sessions, ones that can do the jumps and spins and all that jazz. Inspiring to watch for sure! Also, the rink is nowhere near as busy at that time of day. So maybe I should go during the week instead of Saturday afternoon.

And, yikes I've just seen the time! I better wrap this up and hit the hay!

Goodnight all!

11:35pm: When you're at a friend's house! Well, maybe I could have, but I lost track of time and I had to go to bed before I got the chance.

Anywho! It was great to hang out with my friend again! We watched the new Ghostbusters movie, which I really enjoyed! I tend to think the fanboys who were complaining about it are being a bit precious, but I suppose if they made a BTTF reboot I'd probably be bitching a bit too. But eh, it was still a good movie!

My friend was a very good hostess indeed. :O) She made a delicious dinner and had ice creams in the freezer for desert. Good times! Plus the house is big so I had a proper bed to sleep in, so that was cool.

In the morning she showed me some US TV shows that I'd heard of, but never watched, Samantha Bee and John Oliver. Very amusing! Although, you have to wonder what will happen after the US Election...depending on the result there good be a whole lot of screaming and running around in horror!

And just looking at the time I can see the dreaded Duolingo practice has eaten into my post time! Honestly me!

Ah well, suffice to say after watching the TV shows with my friend, we took a quick walk around the neighbourhood and then had an even quicker lunch before heading off to Mona Vale so I could go to walk and my friend could do some shopping.

Work went very well! It was a miracle I found a parking spot because the yearly markets were on today, which also meant a huge number of books had been returned in the after-hours chute. It must have taken a good two hours to clear and check-in everything that was in there! But we managed it. I do enjoy returning books.

And...I've just remembered I totally need to apply for that one day a week job in the Local History part of Dee Why Library! Don't want to miss out on that chance.

But for now, I must get my butt to bed!

10:29pm: It's a fictional epic about the history of Russia, I bought it at a second hand shop like a year or more ago but then I kept borrowing other books at the library and since I had them for a limited amount of time I read them first, but now I've finally got to it. I hope it'll be good after all this time, but it seems interesting so far.

So, this morning was the priest's last mass and afterwards the farewell morning tea. I ended up running a bit late to church, which was made even worse by the fact that I couldn't find a parking spot! I must have spent like five minutes driving around looking, eventually I managed to find one. And fortunately Mum had sent me a text message so I knew where she and Dad were sitting otherwise I'd have been looking for them for ages. :OP

There was a heap of food at the morning tea, I'm not sure if my cupcakes were all eaten because Dad and I left quite early, and at that point only Mum and I had had a cupcake! Oh well, at least that meant I was able to take three for Mrs. S, Patrick and her mother.

After dropping Dad off at the parental abode I headed back to my place, I had planned to get to Mona Vale a bit early so I could show the people at the pet shop a recording of my fish tank filter (yes, I'm afraid the saga continues), but as usual I kinda lost track of time and only just made it to work in time!

Work went pretty well, especially since I had such a sore knee last night, except at the end where I unwittingly embarrassed the Library Manager by pointing out that the printout of library charges said 20 cents, apparently it's supposed to be 30 cents now. It didn't seem like a big deal to me, but apparently the Manager felt it made the library look unprofessional and whatnot. Shit, awkward. I hope this doesn't lead to long-term awkwardness, because nothing screws over your job prospects than awkwardness.

Anyway...I was going to do a meme or two, but I have no idea where I left off...pft this is what happens when you procrastinate on stuff. But I do need to get to bed, I didn't get quite enough zzzs last night and that can't be good. Plus I want to see how the new cotton sheets work out!

So, I shall be off! Here's hoping I can figure out my Meme situation tomorrow, especially since I've had to rearrange when I go to M and Grandpa's place, apparently they're doing something for the Melbourne Cup on Tuesday.

10:59pm: Fear not, though! That's just a pun related to the fact I hemmed Mrs S's curtains this evening when I got home from work at the library. They've come out very well if I do say so myself...hopefully they're even I'm not always the best at sewing in a straight line.

Anywho! As I mentioned I had a shift at the library this afternoon, which was good, although it was rather quiet by the end of it, the weather had turned rather gray so maybe that sent everyone home early. Also, it's half way through the HSC (aka final exams for high school kids) so some of them have problem eased off on the studying.

But things went well, except that I discovered that I accidentally thought a patron's mobile phone had been disconnected, but in fact they just had one of those crappy message banks that just recites the number rather than has the person saying their actual name (I hate those!) so the email I sent them was just confusing, whoops.

Also, a kid came in to pay for a missing book and accidentally left their car behind! Double whoops!

Beyond that, not much more to report, which is good because I need to turn in, work calls tomorrow, plus I'm feel rather sleepy.

Oh! I almost forgot, the internet was fine when I switched it back on this morning, I guess that's all it needed, which is a relief!

So I say goodnight!

10:30pm: Heh, I'm pretty sure this episode of MacGyver I'm watching was the inspiration behind the Simpsons quote from an episode all those years ago where Selma married Sideshow Bob.

Although there's another episode to do with Native Americans, so it could have been from that. Either way, I am amused.

Moving on, today after work I decided to take a sample of my water to the Brookvale Petstock and see if it was ready for a fish. And it was! So I decided no time like the present, so may I introduce Plushenko! I decided to just go with that rather than Nedshenko because that name seems to be a bit cursed.

Well, now that I've watched the whole episode I see it has nothing whatsoever to do with that quote...in fact, I don't think MacGyver ever did anything that relied on the Earth's gravitational pull, but hey sounds like something Mac would say. :OP

And I just got distracted by stuff...again, it's that time o' the month, though so I'm gonna blame that for today's lack of attention. :OP

Now, I should catch up on Memes again, but I can't remember where I left off on the Saturday 9! Seems it was July, huh, I could have sworn I caught up more than that...guess not.

So let's do it )

Okedoke, I better wrap this up, even though I don't have to work tomorrow I should keep my sleep schedule the same, plus I do have stuff to do tomorrow!

That reminds me...I need to email one of the library managers, because he called me today while I was at work with Mrs S about a shift, but I couldn't call back until I finished work and by then he'd called someone else. Boo, that was going to be my first shift with the former Warringah Council libraries in forever! I should update them about my new schedule anyway.

Right off I go now, goodnight all!

11:48pm: So I was going to make some cupcakes tonight just because and even went down to the 7-11 on the corner to get milk, but unfortunately for me there was a problem. My eggs were off! I tested them by putting them in water and the bobbed to the top. Suffice to say, I wasn't going to risk using them! Unfortunately, I'd all ready creamed the caster sugar and butter, so I had to cover the mixing bowl and put it in the fridge. I sure hope it'll be OK for tomorrow...because otherwise, what a huge waste!

In other news, I went ice skating today after work and what fun! It wasn't nearly as busy as last Saturday and I was able to try going backwards a bit more, it seems I need to turn my head the opposite way to my instinct, which is weird, I feel like I should look over my right shoulder, but when I do I end up turning my whole body around! Still, I can't see myself ever being able to master that...Still much fun was had.

What else to report? Oh! I got my official name badge from the Mona Vale Library today! I've never had a name tag before, this is quite cool. One gentleman even made use of it, checking the name so he could use it to thank me for helping, LOL.

I also renewed a few of my library books...including one I hadn't even started yet, which was on hold, whoops so I endeavoured to power read it, and I was making pretty good progress until I realised...I wasn't actually all that interested in finding out what happened. :OP So instead I just read the end, confirmed my suspicious and I shall return it when I'm at work tomorrow. Hope the person who had it on hold enjoys it more than I did!

Also, because of the reading I have no time to do any memes! Booo. But there's not much that can be done about that now...so instead I shall be off!

Hope to have more tomorrow though.

Goodnight all!

Um Ow...

Oct. 3rd, 2016 11:50 pm
anonymoose_au: (Oww...Aaah...Owwww)
11:34pm: I have lower abdominal pain, which really sucks and means this entry isn't going to be as exciting as I promised! Although when is it ever?

However! I can report that I won one of the half-finished games of Canasta and M won the other half-finished one! Also worth noting that I only juuuust scrapped by my win, where as M totally kicked my ass with her's.

What else to report? Scratches head...oh the opening of the DVD case yesterday, well basically with Daylight Savings setting in and the beautiful weather the library was pretty much dead yesterday. So in a moment of boredom one of my co-workers offered to help me get the case open. This involved a lot of brute force and a pair of scissors, looking back on it many OHS rules were overlooked there. :OP But! In the end the DVD was opened yay! Although there was a bit of damage to the cover insert, a tiny tear, but eh I'll get over it.

Anyway, I shall have to wrap this up...and lament on my boring entry. Man, I gotta get some more hobbies or something...Any suggestions?

And now I bid you all goodnight!
