Cemented

11:54pm: Right I've left this way too late to update, but just a few quick pieces of news for you all.

Firstly, after all that I found my activity tracker, the magnetic part of it had stuck to my keys and when I got up on Friday morning and actually focused on the hanging from the hook I saw it there! Phew! I also put in a new battery because the one it came with was definitely on the fritz. Although that still doesn't explain why the 'find tracker' thing in the app said it was in the city, seriously WTF?

Also, in regards to the subject heading the cement guys finally came by this morning to put in the new concrete. Luckily, the landlord had these planks behind his house which I'm using as a walk-way to my door. The new cement looks super nice, it's also much higher, almost the same level as inside the flat. Which makes me wonder if I should be worried if it rains? Won't water be able to seep inside much more easily? I sure hope not!

I didn't go ice skating this evening because a co-worker tipped me off that the outdoor ice skating rink is back in the city again! Sweeet! I'm planning to go on Tuesday this week, although it might have to be Thursday since I'm hanging out at M and Grandpa's on Tuesday, but then I'm going over Monday night so...I suppose I'd leave when M goes for her nap. Anyway the point is, I want to go at an off-peak time, it's cheaper then.

Anyway, it's almost midnight and I didn't get enough shut-eye last night so I gotta wrap this up...lack of sleep is making me feel uninspired to write and that ain't cool.

So now, bed is needed! Goodnight all!

11:36pm: Well, the southerly change has come through and it's not really that hot anymore, but it was bad enough that even having reconnected my air-con's hose the Granny Flat was still unbearable. The problem was my air-con kept switching itself off giving at warning that it was overheating so I could only use the fan function. And with it being 35 degrees or more that just wasn't good enough - even though I went and bought the mini-desk fan to put on my bedside table (they were on special at Coles) I ended up sweating like Rafa Nadal on a tennis court! (Have I all ready used that analogy? Well, I'm gonna use it again) So I'm back here at the parental abode.

This is probably a good thing though because the interview is tomorrow and I need Mum's help to do my hair (that's a bit sad isn't it, LOL) although I've just remembered that I left my resume folder back at the Granny Flat along with my activity tracker (I took that off before taking my shower after I went to the gym), so I guess I'll have to stop by on my way to Mona Vale tomorrow.

Aside from that I haven't got much more to say, it was just a regular sort of day (that time o' the month has appeared - which means I won't have to worry about it on the cruise which is very good news) except for the heat factor. Man...anyone denying climate change has to be an idiot, which some people clearly are, especially one I had the misfortune of seeing on Four Corners tonight, which my mother watched when she got home. Lucky for me I'd brought over one of my Air Crash Investigation DVDs and was able to watch that instead, because ew.

Right, it's almost midnight and I gotta haul, I still need to finish my Russian!

For now, goodnight!

10:58pm: Which I gotta do again tomorrow because there was a mistake today and the nurse who was supposed to come, didn't! Bloody annoying it was too, so now I have to go in early tomorrow as well, which means I really need to get myself to bed. I didn't get enough sleep last night either and with this hot weather I've been quite scattered and a bit whiney (LOL), plus tomorrow I go to my grandparents' place which means Canasta so I have to be awake for that!

Anywho, I'm back here at the Granny Flat, fortunately the cool change has come through so the air conditioner is handling things well in here. Which is a relief! Although, the extremely hot weather is set to return on the weekend, so I'm not sure what will happen then.

Aside from that not much else to report, although I did finally go to the Mall and buy that Glide stuff that cyclists use and with the weather as hot as it was today it wasn't a moment too soon! I also got some shoes that Mrs S saw during the weekend but didn't buy.

Finally, I'm pleased to announce I managed to fit my Christmas decos on top of my second wardrobe here! This is very cool as I won't need to worry about having to get them from M and Grandpa's garage. I also bought more over the door hooks and now my bags are all nicely lined up on the back of the door to my bedroom/living room area.

The one downside of today...I was opening a drawer and pulled it too far out and it fell landing right onto of my right foot (what is it with my right foot?) and it's left a mark as well as a decidedly sore bruise. Well, at least I didn't break anything.

But no more dilly-dallying! It's off to bed!

Goodnight all!

11:15pm: And hopefully being cancelled!

Yes! This morning after doing a practice run to Mrs S's place from the apartment - and arriving with 10 minutes to spare (although it's still school holidays at the moment), I went to Mum and Dad's to discover Mum hadn't got the plastic tubs, because she'd been looking for crates - however, crates hurt like hell to carry once they're full - digging into the side of your fingers and all that. So I had to get the key to M and Grandpa's garage where I found the tubs in question and then it was off to the gym. As I was coming to the end of my work-out I got a call from the little bro saying that the Canadian girl had got back to him, letting him know she had found someone to take over her lease and that she was still interested in the apartment! Holy crap!

Of course, I'm sure you're all thinking "But Moose you gave in the Notice to Vacate yesterday! You're probably going to need to leave your granny flat anyway". That's what I worried about too, but I quickly called the agent who said they hadn't made a start on it yet! However, until I found out from Mum that everything was clear I couldn't outright cancel the notice so I told them I'd call back in the afternoon to let them know for sure.

By coincidence Dad called me up after that, to let me know about the crates in their storage shed, so I told him the news. He decided to stay out of it for now, LOL.

After the gym I headed back home, had some lunch, and a shower before heading off to my shift at the library. I spoke to Mum at home, but she said she needed to speak to the little bro in more depth before anything could be decided.

Just before going down to the library for my shift (I arrived in the area a bit early so did some shopping, there was bargains at Bed Bath and Table, I got some Christmas decos for the end of the year and a new swim/gym bag - it's rainbow!) I got a call from Mum, who said things looked promising with the Canadian, but it wasn't 100% so I would need to ask the agent if I could put the Notice on hold rather than outright cancelling it. She though it best to send an email, but I didn't actually have the agent who oversees my property's email address so I sent it to the original agent with a plan to call during my break to confirm she got it.

As it turned out the original agent wasn't in today so I ended up having to tell them over the phone after all! :OP But! If we're going to keep the same vacate date I'll have to give them a definitive answer tomorrow afternoon. Mum and I had hoped to be able to do it on Thursday, but then I remembered that's the Australia Day Public Holiday, so no dice.

But, I've SMSed the Little Bro since then and he seems pretty positive, so fingers and toes crossed all! Meanwhile, I'll take this opportunity to do some weeding of my posessions and what not. I do have quite a bit of crap that could probably go.

The only downside, I have to go back and get most of my hanging clothes back, as well as my spare TV and cube of fabric. Ah well, I gotta go to Mall at some point anyway so that's not so bad.

Anywho! I better wrap this up, since I do need to get to bed, however I will say this - Apple is a pain in the ass! A lady came into the library around 4pm trying to get advice on how to use some of the apps for e and audio books, but by 5pm she and the librarian on duty were having no luck getting onto the Apple App store because for some reason the lady's tablet was trying to sign up with her old email address. Eventually I came out to see if I could do anything, which thinking about it is kind of weird because I don't even use Apple!

Anyway, eventually I managed to figure it out and the lady was able to get one of the apps, hopefully she'll be able to get the other one's too, but who knows! But hey this will look good on my next review, fingers crossed. :OP

Right, off I go! Goodnight all!

PS: I almost forgot! The Fed-Ex triumphed tonight in his quarter final! Aaah he's such a boss! It's gonna be an all Swiss Semi-Final though, so fingers and toes crossed...

11:36pm: Well, at least somewhat as I'm writing this from the little bro's apartment, or I suppose I should call it my apartment. I decided to spend the night here after bringing over some more things including the kettle and giving notice (along with Mum) at the office of the agent that manages the Granny Flat. I'm hoping to practice the drive to Mrs S's place a few times before I move in completely just before going on the cruise.

However, this means I need to wake up half an hour earlier and thus I need to be in bed half an hour earlier...so I'll pretty much have to wrap up this entry here because I'm all ready late and when I don't get enough sleep a few days in a row I tend to get sleepy and headachey. In fact I all ready have a headache now, but that could be from being a bit dehydrated. The little bro doesn't keep a jug of cold water in the fridge here!

Anywho, this night has gone quite well, with the little bro and I hanging out in the living room watching the tennis, as I wrap this us Rafa's still on court, but alas, I can't stay up to see how it ends. Also our last Australian singles player is out, boo.

Right! Really gotta head off now. I'll have a more detailed report about the apartment next time.

Oh! And I ended up buying the green backpack, because I'm worth it. :OP

10:25pm: The water is still cloudy! Although not as bad as yesterday, so I guess it'll clear up eventually...I'll have to keep you all posted I suppose. It might be part of cycling the tank, which I'm a bit worried about because according to what I've read it can take like 2 months! On the other hand I did put this Quick start stuff in which is supposed to allow you to put fish in right away. But who the Hell knows.

Despite Mum telling me not to I bought a new heater and a little temple ornament to put in there, I'm still divided on whether to get a light for it, but those seem to be expensive so maybe I won't, I'm sure once the water clears up any fish I buy to put in there will be easy to see.

Moving on, I'm still watching MacGyver eps and on the episode I'm watching now there's a character called "Doc" and every time Mac calls him that I get BTTF thoughts. Also...Mac's gone undercover as a homeless person, but it seems kind of weird for him to keep wearing the clothes after his cover is blown, like he goes into the library wearing dirty old clothes, hope they only looked like that and didn't smell really bad.

In other news, the inspection was today, it lasted for a grand total of 5 minutes, pft! Oh well, as I said I thought that'd be the case, but the place is clean and that's important.

Right, I keep getting distracted here..I'm listening to a podcast, which makes it hard to concentrate on this at the same time, LOL. And now I've just remembered I need to do my Russian too! Eek!

So on that note I shall be off...sorry for the less than satisfactory entry here, but them's the breaks!

11:20pm: Man, do I feel like a dumbass. After all the internet woes of the last few months, I finally realised...wireless broadband isn't just like regular broadband. It's the type of internet connection I've been looking for! One that doesn't need a phone line, but provides a large data allowance - in fact if I'm willing to fork out $89 a month I can go unlimited! O.o

Well son of a bitch, I can't believe I didn't realise this, it's quite annoying when I see how much money I've spent the past two months because of going over my data limit on my phone - I could have used that money to buy the modem for the wireless broadband!

As it is, I forked over the $200 today, although it did require me to go to Harvey Norman, which I planned never to give my custom too after the owner of the chain made some disparaging remarks regarding people who have trouble finding jobs. But it was either that, paying $10 and waiting some days for a modem to be sent to me or driving for another half-hour or more to get to the Good Guys, the other chain of shops that sells the modem.

So! I've got this lovely internet now, $59 for 40Gb, niiice. I'll see how I go with it, since I probably don't actually need unlimited, it's not like I watch streaming TV.

Ow, I just hurt my nose while rubbing it, good work me. :OP

Anyway! It's nearly 11:30 so I better get myself to bed, I almost got 8 hours of sleep last night and as I result I felt pretty damn good. Which is why I updated tonight - last night I had a terrible headache and also because I got an SMS from my mobile provider that I'd all ready used 50% of my mobile data...in four days, what the fuck?!(It did though get me investigating the other options which is how I found out about the wireless broadband thing, so maybe it was a blessing).

But yes, better be off!

Oh wait, I almost forgot! I got quite a shock today when I checked my phone during a lull at work with Mrs S and discovered an SMS from the agent who looks after the Granny Flat on behalf of the landlord. It said they were coming over today for an inspection! OMG! Not only is the place still a mess, but by law they have to give you 24 hours notice before inpsection. So as soon as I could I called them up to see about re-scheduling. As it happened there was some mistake, they were meant to send me notice a week back, but for some reason it never came. Weird. Still at least I didn't miss something and now the inspection isn't until next Thursday, phew!

11:23pm: Indeed so! Once again a whole chunk of time has just disappeared while I was on that website! I probably could have spent that time much better, what with Mum coming over tomorrow after the Catechist class, which of course means the place has to be clean! I actually did do some cleaning so the place doesn't look too terrible, but it won't pass the Mum test!

Anywho, moving on "The Interview" was today! I think it went pretty well, although I'm not sure if I made the best impression that I could have, I need to be less hesitant when answering questions! Lot of "umm" and "errr" and "uh". But it looks like they're moving fast on this, the Branch Manager at Belrose and Forestville Libraries said she'd probably be getting back to me in a week or ten days. This is super fast council-wise! I wonder what will happen? Fingers crossed - although getting the job would mean leaving Mrs S, which would be sad.

I ended up doing quite a bit for Mrs S today, after the interview I went and picked up the table she and her husband bought on the weekend from Officeworks and then drove it back - with a stop off at my house so I could change into more appropriate clothes) to her house. However, later on just as I was about to head off to the gym Mrs S called to say there was something wrong with the table and if I could take it and her husband back to the Officeworks to either get a new one or a refund. I get paid for this, so I said I would. As it turned out there was nothing wrong with the table, apparently a new company makes them now and there's been a change in construction and now you have to pull the whole drawer out to put the legs on. It was a good thing that Mr S pointed out what he thought was the issue to the Officeworks person otherwise I probably would have been driving back again!

Anywho, after that adventure I went off to the gym, where I got an SMS from Mum wondering if I could come by and drop her off at the scooter place where Dad's Vespa currently is, but luckily she was understanding about me not wanting to do so after all the driving I'd done.

Right, I better get my butt to bed! Although I've just been distracted by the drama at the 100 m T38 final where I guy just got disqualified for a false start. Only giving them one go seems really unfair, I mean mistakes happen.

Good news! The Aussie got silver, go him!

10:49pm: Nah, I kid, with any luck I'll be in this particular Granny Flat for a while, because moving is a pain in the ass.

But! As promised I've taken some pictures, which you can see here because I'm too lazy to actually link them here one by one. I need to take some others though like the outside of the Granny Flat and my new recliner and the other bookcase which is beside the front door and holds a surprising amount of books!

No seriously! I had three large tubs full of books when I left the old Granny Flat today - all of which were so heavy I was worried that I might throw my back out or something. And thanks to that bookcase and a few other places I managed to find in the house - like the buffet cabinet, the second wardrobe, a spare crate that fits in the crate holder and under the bed I've wittled it down to about fifteen or so that I just need to find a place for. I think I need another crate, for some reason there's one spot left in it, I actually have two crates under the bed but neither fit in the holder! Pft.

However, the house isn't exactly neat as I'm still unpacking things, I'm a bit bummed because I can't find my customised Nutella label (it has Moose printed on it) anywhere, I remember packing it, but I have no idea where I packed it, do'h! Hope I didn't throw it out, I'm pretty sure they don't let you get a personal label made up anymore. :O(

Anyway! I gotta lay my head down to sleep soon, my sleep debt has caught up with me and I have a bit of a headache so I want to try and catch up on it, at least some of it!

I used the stove for the first time today - I was somewhat confused by which of the knobs to turn to get the hotplate hot, the diagram was a bit weird - it worked out in the end though and I had some very yummy sausages. I also did my first two loads of laundry tonight and discovered that I can use fabric softener in the top loader - the little compartment for it just happened to be hiding. :OP And I also used the rather shitty looking washing line out back...which is really rather shitty. I'm tempted by this retractable washing line that's goes on sale at Aldi next week, but I dunno...I'm not sure where I would attach the end of it... I guess I'll see what my parents think.

Right, better wrap this up! Hopefully I'll be more coherent tomorrow. Somewhat embarrassingly after exchanging them for another set I need to return those flannel sheets I got a few weeks back. I find this embarrassing because the first set I got required a lot of searching on behalf of the cashier - she had to go down to the storeroom and everything! So...it was kind of all for nothing in the end.

Oh well, maybe the'll have a nice bin there or something I can buy...I don't have a kitchen bin right now and I really need one.

Right, on that note, I'm off!

10:59pm: Yep, here I am in the new place, which as predicted by Mum doesn't smell so weird now I'm in here.

On the upside, I can now watch the TV from bed, on the downside, I haven't moved any of my books that are in the pantry at the old Granny Flat, but my new one is pretty much full...so where am I supposed to put them?! D:

Anyway it was a seriously full-on day today, what with the moving men, it seemed to take aaages for them to get my furniture and some of the crates out of the old Granny Flat, and it did get a bit dicey when time came to move the crate holder thingie, dismantling it would have taken way too long, but it's not exactly sturdy - the top and sides of the metal rails are screwed into the shell, but the three separate rail sections are only held together by these metal clips - some of which have all ready broken off and that's without moving it. But the guys managed it, yay!

While they were doing this I was filling up my car with stuff to take over, having dropped off the rest of my clothes after finishing at Mrs S's place. So by the time the men had finished packing their truck I was ready to head down to the new place too. So down we went - although it took a bit longer than usual because a tree had fallen onto one of the roads so the SES were there to clean it up and as a result one side of the road was closed and lollypop men were there to either tell us to 'go slow' or 'stop'.

Anyway, the unloading of the truck went great! Although I missed out on thanking the men for their help because Mum sent me back up to the old place to pick up more stuff since technically I'm paid up to Friday although the landlords' are happy for me to have a few extra days. By the time I got back from loading the men were gone, which was for the best really since it'd taken them two hours so that cost me $220!

Also the whitegoods arrived before the men and I got too the new place, which was a big relief because I was worried that the two trucks would show up at the same time and it'd be difficult to move stuff in - seeing as the landlord's car is in the carport.

I really have to thank Mum, who did a lot of the unpacking and putting away of things, like all the crates in the crate holder and things into the wardrobe and picking up the new pantry that's going to be put up by the guy who built the shell of the crate holder. He's also going to put up a bench in the kitchen area, which reminds me...maybe we can put a little shelf under it and I can put some of my books in there as well in the narrow bookcase and the pantry. But I dunno, I might need that space for my plates and stuff.

Anyway, time is moving on, so I should wrap this up, although at least I don't have to go to the petrol station tomorrow morning because I went there this evening as it's just up the road now :O) But I skipped my Russian yesterday and I want to do it tonight before I turn in.

I'll have some pics of the new place to show tomorrow!

In the meantime good night all!

10:42pm: So today, I received the keys to the Granny Flat and now the process of moving begins! Unfortunately this means packing all my stuff up in the tubs I got from my grandparent's garage and then haul them to my car, drive them down to the new place, haul them out, unpack them, go back to my current Granny Flat and repeat. It's an annoying process and I makes me just want to get a whole lot of boxes and have the movers move them on Thursday, I mean, that's usually how it works isn't it? But that's an expensive option since the movers do charge you by the hour so the more stuff they have to move and unpack the more it costs and it's not like I'm rich. :OP

Anyway, I went and picked up the fold down table and chairs after my performance review today - which went super well, whoo! Seems I've been kicking ass and taking names, but alas, no word on whether I can get any extra hours because of the council's merging, thus there's no Overall Library Manager to run everything right now so...yeah...no decisions on that sort of thing can be made.

So yes, I picked up the table and chairs and Mum picked up the recliner I got from Vinnies on the weekend and we met at the new Granny Flat to start putting stuff together. Actually, I got there quite a bit before her and got bored waiting by my car (I was able to carry the chairs in myself, but the box the table was in weighed more than 30kg!) and was making a start on assembling the first chair when she arrived.

We wiped down the dusty parts of the recliner, rearranged the kitchen a bit - moved the pantry shelf thing and the oven and got to work on the chairs which we successfully assembled, yay! :O)

Then it was onto the table! Which was quite a production, luckily Mum bought over two toolboxes and we were able to find two screwdrivers - and later three - so we could work together. It's a damn spiffy table! I took some photos but my phone is charging right now so I can't upload them right now.

We managed to finish up as the sun was going down, but tomorrow, Thursday and Friday is going to be super busy indeed. Man, I hope I can take it! :OP Although on Thursday my new (second hand) whitegoods will arrive at the new place which is good news as well as my bed so I guess I'll start sleeping there.

Anywho, I better wrap this entry up I keep going to bed too damn late and this can't be a good idea. I'll end up with a headache or something.

So, goodnight all!

9:59pm: Yep! I did it. But it must be said I was pretty doubtful about it...

When I woke up this morning I found an email from the Agent saying that they weren't going to alter the lease conditions and at the same time couldn't give me any guarantee that the annoying little cabinet thing in the kitchen would be fixed for my dishwasher.

Since my mood has been on the whole down since seeing the place I was really doubting the wisdom of going ahead with this rental after all. I felt like I'd jumped the gun, it was after all, the first place I saw...and even though the price was very good, it's not exactly a pretty place and I also found out that I have to set up my own wi-fi there and who knew how expense that'd be?

Then to further add to the chaos, I missed a call on my mobile so I played it back thinking it was the Agent, but no it was the Manly Library or rather the HR department of the old Manly Council (now known as the South Area), which meant...an interview! Yikes!

I spoke to Mum on the phone as soon as I finished work - or rather before I did, because I finished a little later than normal but I didn't realise I would so I'd sent Mum an SMS asking her to call me at 11:30 if she could (she had her own work this morning) - in a bit of a frazzle about all this.

Mum though was on her way to another client - but told me we could meet up about half an hour before we needed to meet the agent to discuss both the new granny flat and the possible job.

I ended up calling about the job though because when I was listening to my phone messages and discovered that the HR person had actually called yesterday too! This is why you always listen to your messages people! I thought it was the Agent or maybe Mum's friend who I used to rent from - since she sent me an SMS about another letter of mine that arrived at her mailbox.

So, I called the HR department...or rather the switchboard and eventually got the right person. As usual though the interview time was for the morning and it seemed unlikely that it could be changed to any later in the day, do'h! The HR lady said she'd look into it although unsurprisingly it couldn't be changed when I rang back in the afternoon to confirm.

In the first call I discovered that they did indeed want someone who could begin ASAP, which leaves me in a delicate position should I get the job, as far as I know Mrs S hasn't heard from the relief carer that anyone's interested. At once someone is it still take about three weeks to train that person up properly...Mum's like "She did leave you for those two months earlier in the year", well yes, but in my case I could still get around and I could have found a temporary job had it really been neccessary. But if Mrs S doesn't have a person she can't get up and out of bed! So that's totally unfair.

I'm probably thinking too far ahead though, it's not like I have the job.

The HR lady did have a good suggestion though, she seemed less sure that the current job holder would extend her maternity leave much further, but she said I should ask Mona Vale Library if they could seconded me to Manly Library, which basically means I get to go back to my old role there once my role at Manly Library ends. I left it a bit late to ring my supervisor to ask about that, so I'll have to try tomorrow. The interview itself is on Thursday at 11am, which Mrs S has given me time off for (I called to ask).

In order to cheer me up re: not so attractive granny flat and possibly high-tension job Mum took me to see the display apartment for (one) of the new buildings going up in Dee Why. You may well wonder how exactly I'm meant to afford something like that? Well, if you buy off the plan you can get a pretty good price, plus the worth of the parking spot over at Newtown has jumped again - which I might have mentioned before - to $50,000! This gives me enough money for a deposit.

Plus, the display suite was so awesome looking, I mean...the amount of storage in the bathroom area is totally boss and the kitchens all come with dishwashers! Obviously, it hasn't even been built yet and if I was to buy one it'd be a year or so before I could even move in :OP Still, something to strive for. I'm a bit bummed I didn't take any photos because then I could show them to Mrs S so she could see. :O) And you, my fellow readers.

Ah well.

Anyway, I better get going - although I've been slacking on the memes - because I do need to get to bed, and before that get the chicken out of the oven. I wasn't going to cook it tonight - and certainly not at this hour! - but it was on special and the best before date is tomorrow and I was a bit leery about leaving it until then.

Oh yeah! And of course, I actually did sign the lease today! I though the Agent might be intimidating and annoyed at me because of all the emails I'd sent, but she was really nice and while my IBS was making my abdominal area quite crazy once things were signed I felt better. So, I think everything might work out after all. :OP

Whoops and I almost forgot to mention my last adventure of the day. I managed to lock myself out of my Granny Flat when I left to meet Mum this afternoon. Unfortunately, the landlords are out of town and even though I do have a key to get into their house to use their washing machine I couldn't see where the spare key for my flat was. So like I had to do one time before...I climbed through a window, although it was a different one...because the one's in the kitchen are closed tight in this cold weather. Fortunately, I managed to get one of the ones in the bedroom area open and climb in. Phew! My parents do have a spare key, but I didn't really want to fuss around with that.

Right chicken's almost done so I'll be heading off now. Before I go though, you have to watch this utterly adorable Youtube Video, it is just toooo adorable, guaranteed to cheer you up!

Right goodnight all!

11:35pm: Of the old Granny Flat! The final inspection passed muster, although I'm pretty sure the land lady made a passive-aggressive comment about not having given enough notice. Which was very annoying, because we totally discussed this shit weeks back and she told me to go ahead...I considered bringing this up, but I decided it was better not to. But seriously, I did not imagine that conversation, I swear!

Anyway, now I have the big TV here, niiice. And I managed to connect the Blu-Ray player to the internet, I mustn't have been typing the password in right, so that's cool. However, the place isn't what my parents would call clean, eek! I really need to make sure it is before they come over tomorrow. Which means I really need to get myself to bed so I can wake up at a decent hour.

At least I got the cupcakes made for tomorrow, it was a close thing too because I left the old granny flat quite a bit later than planned and the local IGA here near the new place was just about to close when I arrived. I didn't get whipped cream because it was way too expensive, but I got the butter and the extra milk - which I kind of didn't need in the end. Whoops. :OP

Now, as for the memes, well...er ahem. :OP

But alas, I must go, hopefully I'll have something more coherent next update.

Oh and good news, I finally made contact with my friend, or rather she SMSed me and we're going to a big book sale on Sunday - although I can't really buy any...But still sounds fun!

And now, goodnight!

11:03pm: It would appear that none of the DVDs I recorded years and years ago when I first got a recordable DVD player will play! Not in any of the three DVD players I have nor in my laptop. This is a disaster! I have like 60 of those discs and no way to play them! What am I going to do? Especially since I no longer remember what brand of DVD recorder I used...according to the internet that's probably the only way I could ever get them to work.

Disaster!

Somewhat less disastrous is that I've managed to get all my kitchen stuff over to the new flat today and did a whole lot of recording off the Foxtel Box. So at least that thing is working.

Anyway, I've been remiss in the memes...but alas I'm going to have to forego them again because I need to get to bed. As it turned out the nurse didn't come today, but she's coming tomorrow so I need to get up half an hour earlier than usual. And considering I didn't get enough zzzs last night I'm practically falling asleep at the keyboard here!

So yes, short entry syndrome strikes on top of everything else. Sigh...I should take some pictures of my new place to show you all, once I get everything in its proper place.

Look forward to that, then! ;O)

And now, I say goodnight!

11:07pm: Or that other thing...a ratchet? Whichever one gets tightly screwed on things off, because I thought I'd need an adapter in order to connect my dishwasher to the tap, but when I went to Bunnings after work today the man I showed the photo to said that the tap has an aerator on it that can be taken off. But alas it seems to be pretty firmly screwed in there because I certainly can't get it off. So...now I have to go back to Bunnings it would seem. Good thing I'm working tomorrow at the library I guess. :OP

Moving on, I've moved more things over to the new flat and I'm slightly concerned the place is starting to look messy! This won't do at all! My mother is planning to come over every Wednesday to make sure everything is in order.

However! The shell is now up around the crates - the man came at 7am this morning as Mum said he would - he also put up the hooks and hung the mirror in the wardrobe. Good man. :O) So it all looks really good in there, I just have to make sure the rest of the place looks right. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with this big box of kitchen stuff, it's got way more stuff in it then I could ever use.

Speaking of kitchenware, there's been some very unfortunate breakages while I was moving stuff from the old flat to my car - first my cupcake holder! Fuck! Although, they seem to have become quite popular in recent years so I suppose I won't have that much trouble replacing it. But I've only seen gray ones...I want a colourful one!

The same can't be said for the water tank on my water cooler, which fell out of the car when I opened the door. :O( I tried to look up replacements on the net, but no luck, I could only find filter replacements, that's no use to me. Sigh... Although, that cooler was a bit of an ass, it worked on gravity so was slow as anything when it came to actually getting water out of it!

Hmm, there was something else I had to say, but I've forgotten what it was! Oh well, it'll probably come back to me. Or maybe it was another apology for not getting around to the memes again tonight. :OP Sorry about that.

On that note I'm off to bed!

Oh wait! I remember what it was! Today was Library Lovers Day! And as part of it the library had "A Blind Date With A Book", so I decided to take part, picking a book described as having 'magic, parallel universes, multiple Londons and adventure'. I hope it's good, I took a look at the blurb and it mentions George III!! What are the chances! :OP Although he probably doesn't show up in any major way.

Goodnight all!

11:32pm: Yes indeed! Three of my friends have birthdays today! What are the chances? I think I've asked this before but I never did figure it out...or rather I never asked Google to figure it out for me because I sure as Hell can't do that.

Unfortunately, I'm not able to see any of them today so I've sent birthday wishes over Facebook, although one of them is in Sydney, they're nowhere near the suburb I'm in, and of the other two one's all the way over in Wales and the other Darwin.

Ah well, I hope they had a good day.

In other news, I'm getting to the end of the moving now, mostly I'm just taking things in bags now, except for the tapes, which I've had to put on the shelves I used to put my books on because I don't actually have a box/basket/tub to put them in at present. I did manage to fit the spare cases in the tub with the others so that's cool!

I've ended up putting my Christmas decos and the tub of winter clothes back in the walk-in wardrobe because those are going to M's place.

In the meantime, I've connected up the laptop with the Foxtel and I'm getting the programs I want to keep off it. Hopefully, I'll have enough time! Also, I'm relieved that I can use the HDMI and analogue input cable thingies at the same time so I can watch on the big screen. :O)

Also! Work at the library went very well today :O) I was even complimented for how I helped someone who was trying to figure out how to catch a bus using an app. Go me. However, I did manage to leave my water bottle behind, do'h! I put it down and told myself not to forget it...and I did.

And still no luck on the toilet brush front, although I can confirm Adli didn't sell a matching toilet brush. As for Target well, I did see a possibility there, although it's still 25 bucks. Gee maybe I should just buy it...or resign myself to getting a cheapass white plastic one.

And having seen the time I've realised I better haul ass! I have to take all the bags and shredded stuff downstairs before I head off to work tomorrow, so I have to be ready to face the day!

Speaking of the shredder, I thought I'd broken it at one point by sticking too much in it, but once it cooled down it started going again, so thank God, I won't have to buy a new one!

Right, now I'm off, goodnight all!

11:30pm: Yes indeed because in Friday the landlady returns from her holiday and a real estate agent is coming by to look at the granny flat! Which still has a whole to of boxes and stuff on the floor, which means I've gotta clean it up after work tomorrow unless I want to get my ass kicked.

Also, Operation Dub has hit a snag, the VCR heads are dirty and so no tapes will play properly, the picture is all static! :O( Unfortunately, I have no cleaning tape so I've had to order one from Queensland. The internet suggested opening up your VCR and cleaning it like that, but I'm not risking it! Also I can't get the screws out. So that's ground to a halt, however, I found out that I can record stuff from the Foxtel Box! Hooray! So at least I can so that.

Anyway, it's past my bedtime and I'm writing this on my tablet which is a bit slow, so I'm gonna wrap this up and hit the hay.

Goodnight all!,

10:56pm: So Operation Move has begun and some bad luck has come along to kick me in the butt...or rather the knee.

I guess it might be related to the fall I took in the parking lot yesterday, but this morning I woke up before my alarm when I moved my left leg and felt a very uncomfortable pain in my knee area. Ow.

As you can imagine this is most inconvienent, what with all the stairs and the kneeling and lifting I have to do at work to say nothing of carrying stuff down to the car. I got most of my clothes down along with the bed legs and one of the mattresses - the thin one because sleeping on that last night was not comfortable. However, my knee became progressively sorer during the day and now whenever I have to get up and walk around it hurts.

The furniture arrived at 1:30 and it all fitted nicely! Plus, as predicted I managed to fit quite a bit more in the drawers then Mum thought I would and the two small wardrobes will fit my clothes nicely. The place looks great :O) I just have to make sure to keep it clean.

This is most concerning, because the weather is supposed to go downhill on Wednesday afternoon so tomorrow I really should make a push to move more stuff over. But I don't want to overdo it on the knee because if I hurt it I won't be able to work - whereas I technically have another week until I need to be out of the granny flat here.

However, Mum wants to make the big push this week, which means I should go to the doctor and see what they say... If they think I should rest it I can let Mum know this and even get a doctor's note!

But yeah, what an ass!

Further to my bad luck I've just realised...the VCR/DVD combo recorder I have can't actually record DVDs it can only record from DVD to VHS, which is bloody useless. So I've ordered an analogue to digital cable thing which I can attach to my computer and dub my tapes through that onto my computer. It's coming by post though so it'll be a few days, so the dub plan has stalled.

Anywho, I better get to bed!

By the way, everyone pray and hope that Iowa doesn't fuck us up by voting for Trump, because the world is in a delicate place right now and we don't need that train wreck.

Oh I watched Australia's Got Talent tonight and I really loved it LOL. There's someone I want to vote into the Grand Final though, but I forgot what the website was. Damn.

But lastly...my laptop is being a dick and not playing music so I can't study my Russian. Damnit!

Well, it's too late to do anything now, so I'm hitting the hay.

Goodnight all!

11:08pm: Operation Move On Out is underway, this evening after dinner at the parentals Mum came over to help me dismantle the bed, although that did unfortunately mean she saw the state of my bedroom area in here, which is even worse than usual because I emptied one of my tubs on the floor. Oh dear, oh dear.

However, I think it's all gonna turn out OK...although the dust in there has left my poor eyes all dry, it's really rather uncomfortable, but considering that dry eyes is a side effect I get when I take hayfever medicine I assume taking one will do nothing for my current predicament.

In other news the Aussie Open Men's Final was tonight, the Joker won for the sixth time! And they're jut recapping the match...a match that literally stopped like ten minutes ago. Admittedly I missed the first set so this is good for me, but for people who've just seen the whole thing it must be a little annoying. This seems to be a sad indictament of people's memory...or maybe we just like to relive stuff.

The loss was sad for Andy Murray, who's tried five times now to win, but no luck yet. His wife is going to give birth soon, so hey he's got something big to look forward to.

Anyway, back to the moving, I've taken all my clothes out of the wardrobe along with the ones I've put in baskets and moved them near the front door, which means I need to get my butt to bed so I can take it down to the car and not be late for work! Because I've fallen into some seriously bad habits in that regard and I'm going to get my ass kicked if I keep doing that.

The man is coming to pick up the bed frame tomorrow, which means I need to get the legs and and the second of the two mattresses over there as well...hmmm, not sure if I'll be able to take all the clothes over then. Maybe I'll need to make two trips.

Eh, I'll figure it out later, for now though, goodnight!

anonymoose_au: (Hey! Bitches)
11:02pm: So today was the day of apartment searching, the first place with the LUG (lock-up garage) turned out to be a bust, the place was rather dingy, up two flights of stairs and smelt weird - although the latter was probably because it was empty or something?

After that I headed home planning to do some cleaning, but I feel down on the ball with that, because my lower abdomen is still being a little bitch. So rude. But I did at least manage to get to the gym - although I didn't go swimming because I only just washed my hair yesterday. Plus I wouldn't have had enough time, as it was I had to skip the upper body ergometre and my cool-down.

After that it was off - in the bus - to the second apartment, I was on the bus partly because of abdominal pain, but mostly because I wanted to make sure I got a parking spot in that very narrow street!

The second apartment was teeny tiny and also dingy not like Newtown at all, plus no parking spot so that wasn't much of a goer either.

There is an apartment in the same street that has a carport, and I actually called up about it only to find that the agent was on holiday and nothing could happen until tomorrow, so it looked as if it was over for today.

Although, Mum felt that I should look at Granny Flats - since they're much cheaper and perhaps something furnished - I could have sworn she told me not to look at furnished stuff, but whatever. So I decided to check Gumtree, where I knew there was a place available, or there had been...I called up about it, but a tenant had been found that very day, boo.

But...I took another look and found another Granny Flat available semi-furnished and the ad said one could call after 5pm, which it was at that point, so I did and the man said to come on over and take a look.

This Granny Flat is a bit off the beaten track, but it's closer to Mrs S and the Mona Vale Library, so that's good. Plus it's a really nice place! The kitchen is nice and big with a proper oven and lots of cabinet space, the bathroom has a nice new shower and an interesting little alcove that I can put some of my bathroom stuff in and there's even a rocking chair included, LOL! Oh and a really nice patio! I can totally have friends over.

The man was nice and seemed to like me, although he's got a wife so he needed to discuss the possibility of me becoming a tenant with her before any offer could be made. But I didn't have to wait long! She got back to me, although I missed her phone call because my mobile is being an ass - but we exchanged SMS's and I'll be meeting her and hopefully getting things started on Friday. Although...things'll be a little tight there because I forgot about the fact I'm working that day! Mum assures me I'll have enough time - she's coming with me, and will drive me to the mall so I don't have to rely on the bus or pay 9 bucks for parking.

So yeah, turned out to be a busy afternoon/evening, but everything seems to be coming together because I spoke to the Landlords here and thankfully it wasn't as awkward as I feared...and they even agreed to let me have the big TV in exchange for the air con (that was Dad's idea, good one, Dad!).

Of course, now I have to start packing up and also figure out what other furniture to get...so the busyness will continue.

For now though, I need sleep!

Before I go...good news, the Navman started working again! Although it looked as if it wasn't going to, but after pressing the reset button a few times it came back to life...without wiping all my data. Weird...but i shan't complain.

On that note, Goodnight all!
